Okay I just wanna pop by and say how much I loved your Cats video essay. I've never really delved far into the Cats fandom myself, but I do really like the stage show, and I generally just have a strong love for musical theatre and an equally strong hate for the trend of shitty live action remakes. I'll never turn down a good 2 hour video tearing apart a bad remake, but there's only so many times you can watch some guy with a review channel dispassionately go "lol, look at this nightmare fuel CGI. Isn't it weird that they're cats??? And they're singing??? Worst movie of 2019" before it just gets annoying.

Within 5 minutes of starting your video I was like. Oh okay. You're fandom trash. You are absolute fandom trash. This is going to be so good. You are going to tear this movie to fucking shreds. Because I know, from firsthand experience, that hell hath no fury like a fan scorned.

The moment you first made a hint towards Tuggofelees, I was like "yeah, okay, this person is the right person to be reviewing this movie." It really made me realize not just how much Cats 2019 failed as a movie, but also how deeply it failed its core demographic. Like... Idk, people like you should have been the target audience for this movie, but instead Tomothy basically entirely disregarded everything that the fandom likes about the show (the subtle bits of characterization, the relationships between the cats, the feeling of love and community that the jellicles share, even the unique and striking character designs). It really makes you wonder what the hell he thought the outcome here was gonna be.

While I loved Sideways' analysis, and Lindsey Ellis's too, because they both have a lot to say about Cats as an actual show, they're both lacking a certain... Je-ne-sais-quoi. And that je-ne-sais-quoi is the fervent passion of someone who knows this media I side and out and cares about these characters like family.

Anyways I've watched your video like 4 times and I'm gonna continue to do so.

Thank you so much! I literally have watched so few reviews of the movie because after a couple you get the basic gist of "yup movie bad" without explaining any actual reason besides the CGI. And the fact that I didn't see anyone ever talk about the characters made me want to talk about it when I finally watched it.

I never talk about anything on my channel unless I'm fandom trash about it. Otherwise I would get nothing done. I was going to make a different video about cats, and decided to watch the 2019 film for it, and literally got so mad I made the video about how bad the 2019 film was. Especially because nobody talked about the reasons it was actually bad.

I actually watched the DVD commentary for the movie recently and the basic thought process I think Tom had was a mix of "I remember this when I saw the show when I was 8" and "I want to work with this celebrity". Watching that made me hate the movie even more.

Personally I think Lindsey's video is good for the basic history of Cats and the overall problem of Hollywood adapting musicals badly. I think Sideways is good for understanding why they fucked up the basic story and the music, but I think Maggie Mae Fish may have the best video because she gets into the nitty gritty of the original TS Elliot Poems and why TS Elliot sucks...because he does.

your relationship was actual a secret in the beginning, having confessed to each other in 2017. however, you didn't officially start dating until march of 2018. before making it official, you two were just testing it out, not wanting to be too serious especially when you both were still trainees.

yunho is the reason you came to kq in the first place. seeing a video of him dancing from a friend, you felt mesmerized when watching him. originally, you didn't tell him or the others how you found kq until a few years after you started dating and into ateez's debut.

the two of you also love taking trips to japan together. yunho loves taking you there and visiting the places you did when you were younger. the two of you also have a long list of things you like to do whenever you go to japan. kq has also had the two of you vlog whatever adventures you go on – they are rather chaotic.

yunho is also always looking after you. if he notices you're cold, his jacket / hoodie is immediately on you. you struggling with a dance move, he's right there helping you with it. yunho was actually the first of the guys to meet your parents – it was kind of unexpected for the most part. yunho had went with you to japan and you forgot to tell him that your parents were meeting you there . . . so yeah. yunho was so nervous the entire time and was screaming in the gc. san and wooyoung were not too pleased to know yunho met your parents before them.

ynjoong things : late nights in the studio, secret love songs, art exhibit dates, shopping, matching tattoos, artist and his muse, secret pinning

hongjoong was someone you admired during your trainee years. even if at first he was dismiss of you because you were a popular former sm trainee. eventually, hongjoong would come around to having you around and would even go as fair as promising to make sure you both debuted together with the others. your admiration slowly turned into infatuation and you started seeing hongjoong as your ' knight in shining armor. '

hongjoong often use to refer to you as ateez's ' secret weapon ' because of how talented of a trainee you were. even when ateez debuted, he would still refer to you as their secret weapon during interviews. when hongjoong began to develop feelings for you, he was worried that it would ruin your current relationship and so he began to distance himself from you. he would pour his feelings into songs he made about you. when you found out about the songs on accident, hongjoong would actually end up lashing out at you for it.

this would put a strain on your relationship for a while until you both slowly began building it back before hongjoong decided to confess to you. since making up and getting together, hongjoong can't keep his hands off you when in his studio or at the dorm together.

ynsang things : shy touches, movie nights, teasing each other, sunshine and sunshine protector ( but they are also a sunshine ), playing games together, gossiping, late night cuddles, spending the first snow together

yeosang felt a mixture of starstruck and intimidation when he first met you. mainly because he knew how talented you were and he remembers walking into the practice room and seeing you dancing so intensely. he was even more intimidated when he watched your monthly evaluation. funnily enough, you were just as starstruck with him because of how pretty he was.

you're pretty sure you guys would've gotten together sooner if you both weren't so shy with each other. wooyoung was the main driving force for you two, telling you both that it was " painful to watch you two flounder around each other. cute but painful. "

yeosang also didn't fully realize his feels for you right away. he's still not even sure when he got feelings for you. but he remembers the exact moment where he no longer saw you as something more than just his teammate. it was during cherry blossom season and the nine of you had went to go see them. it was like he got tunnel - vision in that moment as all he saw was you, covering in the cherry blossom petals. a beautiful smile on your face because you couldn't be happier.

however, yeosang didn't confess until later that year. he remembers wooyoung finally pressuring him before sending you both to the convenience store. it was on the way back to the dorm did yeosang finally tell you his feelings. he had been rambling and you cut him off with a kiss, only after that did it start snowing –  the first snow. since then you and yeosang always go on a date when it first snows during the winter season.

started dating : january 2020

minyn things : gravity falls marathons, cuddling, mini fashion shows, randomly bursting into song and dance, going to the movies together, being each other's hype person

mingi was the definition of embarrassing yourself in front of your crush when he first met you. stumbling over not only his words, but his feet too. it made you laugh and he was worried his heart would jump out and confess his feelings when he heard it for the first time. yunho teased him for how flustered he always got whenever you entered the same room as him.

of course, other than mingi's obvious crush on you – the two of you got along great. you, him, and yunho often freestyling or coming up with small dances together. mingi is also one to notice the smaller details: the way you scrunched your nose whenever yunho teased you or knowing just what to say when you seem to be feeling down.

however, mingi was quick to learn that you could be someone he could lean on as well. being able to go to you whenever he was feeling overwhelmed, your arms circling around his waist and holding him close. mingi learned fast that you are insanely protective of him especially when he was trying to put his own self down. you wouldn't have any of that. that's probably how mingi realized your love for each other was something deeper than just bandmates – it was something personal.

jongho doesn't fall in love easily. at least that's what he thought until he eventually realized that he didn't just admire you as his noona, but he loved you. your small acts of kindness and never forcing him to open up made him feel . . . nice. he appreciated you a lot more than he would ever admit, but don't let his unaffectionate demeanor fool you.

his love for you was a gradual thing. him realizing it over time as he would watch you and the others share brief, intimate moments. he didn't think you would ever possibly like him, but when you confessed one night after the nine of you had returned from a day full of filming – he felt like he was on cloud9. the way you parted his hair, kissed his cheek before telling him you loved him and he was doing a good job. he immediately pulled you down to kiss him before you could run away to your room.

while jongho is still heavy against pda, he doesn't mind having you dot on him from time - to - time in private. in fact, he thrives off of it whenever you and him are together. jongho loves showing off for you, even if he doesn't immediately give off that type of vibe. he loves when you let him pick you up, it often flustering you, but you also enjoy it.

eclipse ( seonghwa + y/n = hwayn )

started dating : november 2020

hwayn things : lego dates, she fell first and he fell harder, animal crossing, going to see the cherry blossoms together, the star and his moon, "can i sleep with you tonight?" "of course"

the classic trope of "she fell first and he fell harder" mixed with "the right person wrong time." when seonghwa joined the company, you remembering thinking he was handsome. so much that you developed a crush on him. but then you learned he had a girlfriend he had been dating for a while and immediately stopped.

you did your best to hide your feelings from seonghwa, which seemed to work as he was completely oblivious to your feelings for several years. at least you thought he was completely oblivious to them. as ateez entered their third year together, seonghwa began seeing you in a new light. a light he never wanted to admit before due to his commitment to his girlfriend, haneul. seonghwa would begin to pursue you when he told you that him and haneul where on a break – not sharing the full truth with you.

this would eventually lead you to doubt seonghwa's feelings – not thinking you could trust him and seonghwa would spend the entire year of 2020 to gain not only your trust, but the other's trusts back as well.

however, now almost five years later and seonghwa makes sure that you and the others know he loves you all. you often find yourself seeking him out after or in - between schedules. the others often joke that seonghwa's arms are like a second home to you and honestly . . . you can't really say they're wrong.

TimKon Fic Recs Part 1.

So I mentioned in a reply to @oneswordstyle that I had a ton of TimKon fic recs and I was about to spam them with a million comments in the replies, but then I figured it was probably easier to do in a post. So here it goes. It also got too long so I split it into 2 parts.

Note: I really love when characters get to grow up. I think Tim was a really fun teen to read about, and this fic explores him as a young business man and true heir to the Wayne legacy. Kon is Luthor’s son and prodigy in this, and it makes them interesting foils.

Baby, Talk Me Down (Take Me Out) by sage (Teen) 2020 - 90K words - hiatus

Tim has been working too hard lately, and everyone is starting to notice. Bruce takes it upon himself to help Tim do some self-care and ships Tim off to the Kent farm for the summer, forcing him to take a well-earned vacation. Naturally, things get out of hand.

Note: This fic is on hiatus, so make sure to stop by and leave an encouraging comment, so we can get the ending this sweet story deserves. Tim finally gets a minute to breathe and really process all that’s been happening. He also gets to experience small town life but also he’s Tim so he gets himself into trouble. I find in a lot of fics, Kon always feels out of place or like he doesn’t quite belong, but he’s very settled and has really taken the time to learn who he is in this one, which I appreciated very much.

There’s only 3 chapters left and I love this fic so much I’m dreading saying goodbye to it. Make sure to leave a comment to let the author know!

Superboy is fighting robots in San Francisco and remembers something that wasn't. There's a new priest in the Naxos temple appointed by Dream of the Endless. Kon is missing something. Tim is missing everything. One day Krypto practically drags Superboy to a remote island in Europe and there's a dark haired guy smiling at Kon like he knows him.

Maybe he does.

Note: I’m not usually a fan of fics set in the cartoon Young Justice world, but this one is really special. The prose is exquisite, and it feels like reading an epic poem. Even though it’s kind of in the blurb it took me way too long to realize it was a Sandman crossover, but honestly you don’t really have to know anything about that. I’m also not usually a fan of ‘Tim Drake has magic AUs’ but again, I can read anything if it’s executed well, and this writer executes basically everything perfectly.

This is a coming-out fic that deals in all those tropes, and I think handles it really well. Again, I’m not usually into the more fanon interpretation of Tim as a timid, neglected, anxiety-ridden wet cat, but this fic explores some insecurities without, I feel, straying too far from his actual characterization.

⭐️ First Kontact by Chiyana

Two years after a disastrous first encounter with an alien entity called Necros, Captain Tim Drake is given his first mission back in the field. The simple six-month exploration mission babysitting a group of LexCorp researchers goes abruptly downhill upon the discovery of a missing colony ship, landing Tim directly back into the horror that took him out of the field in the first place and leading him to his second first encounter with an alien race. Usually he's all for over-achieving, but even he finds this to be a bit excessive.

At least this time one of the aliens is more interested in him alive than dead.

Note: This may be my favorite fic I’ve ever read, like ever. This is a sci-fi au, where Tim is a captain, and the Kryptonians are space refugees after the destruction of their planet. The WORLD BUILDING is exquisite. I absolutely love Bart in this world. Also, despite the new world building, the explanation for Kon’s ostracism from the House of El is fantastic. This is one of those stories that has dug into my brain. Although, please mind the tags, it can be intense.

I love ancient China like the history, art and clothing. when I think about Chinese Emperor Jing Yuan I think of Cinderella Chef (animated version) it's so cute and romantic. I also think about the fic series I used to read in 2020 or 2019 when the reader is the selected tailor for the emperor and the emperor falls in love.

It was such a good story, with many good different story elements to it even though it's was an yandere x reader 😭 and I'm not even exaggerating how good it is. It was slow burn yandere yet sooo good and worth it

Have you watched "Story of Yanxi Palace"? It was a popular palace drama in 2018, and social media was all about it at that time. The historical prototype of the female protagonist is Empress Xiaoyichun (孝儀純皇后). She first started as a concubine. During her lifetime, she was the "Imperial Noble Consort" (皇貴妃), which was the highest position among the concubines after Empress. The core of its story is about a confident servant woman who starts from the bottom and moves up through the ranks with wisdom and courage.

A negative example is "Ruyi's royal love in the palace". The show still gets a lot of negative criticism in China today (yes, that's happening in 2024) - for its slut-shaming and superiority theories. The lower class people must be loyal to the noble people, otherwise they will be severely punished. There are a lot of torture scenes of women, never criticizing the mistakes of the misogynistic system, vilifying all historical figures just to beautify the female protagonists, advocating that women must be loyal to one man throughout their lives or else they are sluts, vilifying and torturing ambitious women, etc.

Oh, I'm sorry I really hate that TV show so I'm talking too much about it, but to get back to the point, it occurred to me that if Jing Yuan were the emperor, he would be very - very infatuated and dedicated. There was an emperor in Chinese history called "Emperor Xiaozong of Ming"(明孝宗) who insisted on living a monogamous life with only one empress. The same is true for Jing Yuan! Jing Yuan has only married you from beginning to end! You are one of his servants. No matter what your personality is, witty and lively/shy and kind, or even arrogant, Jing Yuan finds you really cute🥰💖He is very happy that you entered the palace and were assigned to serve him. He will sometimes sleep on your lap and ask you to feed him. He was like a big sleeping lion. But no one in politics dares to underestimate Jing Yuan because he always predicts everything.

Because this is English and word order matters, this title means the show itself has to be good AS WELL AS the scenes high heat, as opposed to the best sex scenes in BL. The two are not necessarily the same list. Anyway I tried to pick both high heat and a fun show. This was hard (pun intended).

I love this BL because of what I could have been.

Just stop watching it after The Sex Scene. Okay?

This BL surprised me with its charm. The acting was good, the leads were appealing, support cast on point, and the production values high. It followed the original manga story arc relatively closely: boy falls in love with girl as a child, grows up to discover girl is actually a very pretty boy.

Although there are some quintessentially Thai changes that mellowed, softened, and extended the romance arc and heat levels.

7. HIStory 4: Close to You

Nancy Chen directs, the side dish plot is basically a pastiche of problematic BL tropes inherited from the above. Great chemistry, high heat, stepbrothers, dubcon, obsession, stalker etc…

Very high production (and heat) and a lot of visual references to live action yaoi gave this show a whiff of Japan but ultimately it stayed firmly in Thailand’s BL camp veering from absurd to appealing to annoying and then back to absurd again. If you can roll with the arranged marriage conceit and very lifestyle D/s relationships, the chemistry is spot on even if the plot is naff and driven by miscommunication.

Watch this one for the pretty, give it a pass on depth. (It has depth, it just depth of tongue kisses.)

Office frienamies transition a flaming hot one night stand into a f-buddy relationship that is built on a puppy/cat dynamic (and kinks into it at one point). Our puppy is loyal, smitten, and protective with endlessly longing eyes, while our cat is snarky, prickly, and deeply damaged (ALL THE TRIGGERS).

NetJames give lovely high-heat with excellent chemistry and tuned-in performances of surprising depth, unfortunately the story ultimately failed them. Had the show had the strength of its convictions and kept to a tighter, darker, harsher 8 eps it would have been the first high heat to earn a 10/10 from me, but once they fussed with it, it dropped to a solid 8/10. Could have been great but was overworked.

Still if high heat is your thing, this one will not let you down.

3. HIStory 3: Trapped

Basically the definition of enemies to lovers from Lin Pei Yu. This is a cop + the mafia man he is chasing but WAIT, they fall in love. Added bonus side couple: assassin and nerd cop ALSO falling in love. It’s great. All the leads are stellar. Its high heat, fun action, and a bit of a mystery drama but pretty about all of it.

My only warning is that the main couple doesn’t entirely end up together, it’s implied, but… amorphous ending.

2. Why R U?

No one knows what’s going on, not even the characters, but absolutely no one cares 'cause it's so thirsty. The plot seems to be "great chemistry and make sure Zee's shirts are NEVER BUTTONED PROPERLY." We, the collective, have a pro Hawaiian shirt anti-button stance, so rah rah rah! (Still the most confusing thing about this show is: why they didn't just title it YRU?)

The FighterTuror sex scenes still stand as some of the best ever fielded in a Thai BL. I will not be entertaining opposition on this matter.

I understand for the sake of professionalism Falcon Developer (developer of Cattails, previously Falconstar, who also created Untold Tales) privated all of the Warriors videos off of his YouTube channel, but it really does sadden me.

He had three videos from 2019 about the *cancelled online Warriors game back in 2010-2013 and its development, and they're now considered lost media. If anyone has any information about the videos, or the forums (outside of the official one) he visited to get the screenshots of the game's concept art/information about the game itself, I'd appreciate it.

She is horribly difficult to photograph, she HATES being in front of the camera in any capacity, doesn't understand the big black lenses. These are 2019, 2020 pics of her. Here are some more recent pics of her I took around Nov. last year, to send my friend.

You can see her trying to get away in the second picture, she literally doesn't stay still.

Anyway, she's my neighbor's cat, but because our houses are really close together she can just come out of the window into mine with no problem. She spends a lot more time indoors nowadays, though, probably because she's an old gal. She's not wanted in any states, but she has successfully fought all the other cats who came to my window for her territory and I had to listen to it as if it were happening inside my room every night. It was loud. She's a great cat, I love her ❤️ (and I thought you might love her as well) :)

i like this video by youtuber Sideways about the 2019 Cats movie because not only is it the rare review for the movie that's made by someone with a clear appreciation for the quality of the original musical, but it also acknowledges something that has always annoyed me about the way people talk about this musical, which is that its really fuckin simple and easy to understand.

just because the writing in Cats is a bit anachronistic and vague (and the movie does somewhat butcher the plot) people like to pretend that it's a completely incomprehensible and confusing show. when it's literally 90% just the characters explaining themselves and singing about stereotypical types of cats. cat who lazes around all day and then becomes really active at night. cat who begs for food at a bunch of different businesses and gets really fat because of it. cat who can do magic. the rum tum tugger is a curious cat. obviously there's no accounting for taste but if someone genuinely can't suspend their disbelief enough to understand these very basic concepts i fear i simply have to chalk it up to a chronic lack of imagination and whimsy

A friend of mine just lost everything except herself, her cat and the clothes on her back to a fire at her apartment (her first after being homeless for years) on Friday. We learned yesterday that nothing from her apartment is recoverable. Please help!

I met Chris one Sunday afternoon after driving past her three times as she sat on a bench outside our local library after closing. I stopped to ask if she needed a ride, and found out that she was homeless, staying in motels when her SSI came in and on the street when it ran out.

As the years have passed, I've learned a lot about her. Despite her parents kicking her out at 17 when she was outed to them as gay, she went back to school and became a social worker, working in several Chicago hospitals through the 80s and 90s, and, like a lot of queer women in the caring fields at that time, tended to and provided comfort and care for (among others) so many gay men, young and old, living with and dying from AIDS, from the earliest days of the disease through the availability of the triple cocktail and to the brighter days of hope.

Through it all, she had relationships with women in a time where that was something that wasn't always safe to do. Some were good, some bad, and some resulting in her losing nearly everything, but she struggled through. She quit social work in 99 or 2000 when her mom got sick and passed away, and then stayed out of the workforce to care for her dad until he passed in 2006. Those experiences impacted her deeply, and she became permanently disabled during that period, leaving her living on SSI, and struggling with her own mental health. She eventually lost her condo, and bounced in and out of apartments and motels.

When I met her in Sept 2019, I helped her get back into the motel she'd been staying at and bridging her to her next check and then making sure that she could stay there, and reliably get her maintenance meds and start rebuilding her life and credit.

This is her and everything she owned as we left her hotel room for the final time on Valentine's Day 2022.

The cat there is Bailey, her constant companion since they adopted each other in September 2021. They've both been through a lot and are absolutely the picture of "Who rescued whom?"

We started having biweekly dinners and I worked with her creditors and tried to get her credit score back into a good place, and helped her get banked and fixed up with access to the Internet and just help her feel more solid and stable in her life.

Just over 2 years later, in February 2022, we were finally able to get her into a senior independent living apartment, her first permanent home since about 2017. She had no furniture, but with some secondhand pickups and occasional pickups, we got her something resembling a home.

It wasn't perfect, and she had her grumbles, certainly, but it was her home. It was a place that she could launch from to recover and consider moving some place even better, if she chose.

However, Friday, July 14, Bailey had an afternoon vet appointment. Everything was fine when we left, but when we got home, with Bailey in a carrier in the backseat, we were shocked to see what looked like a million emergency vehicles & a whole lot of seniors sitting on the grass.

Chris and Bailey came with me to take my daughter into the city that evening, giving the situation 2 hours to develop and for us to get more information. We heard a few newsradio updates and saw this story on abc7, getting the sinking feeling that that balcony looked too familiar.

When we got back from the city, we were able to drive around the back of the building and confirm that this was her apartment.

Everything she owned is gone. She literally owns less now than when she was homeless. She's despairing and trying her best to keep it together, but she's lost so many homes in her life, going back to when she was 17 and her parents found out she is gay and kicked her out.

my take on nosferatu (2024) as someone who loves silent movies, 19th century history, and gothic horror-- a highly informal and adhd-fuelled review

i finally got around to watching nosferatu in theatres the other day, and needless to say i was VERY excited. i have many many MANY thoughts on this movie, so here's a bit of verbal vomiting as to what i thought about it! all of my thoughts surrounding major spoilers will be under the cut

so overall, WOWWOWOWOWOW. i think the original movie has ABSOLITELY been done justice. while there is something that bothers me about this adaptation (which i'll get to later), this movie was easily a 5/5 for me.

the main thing that made me love this movie is the AESTHETIC. this movie is absolutely STUNNING. the colours and sets make this movie so immersive and i swear to god i was SALIVATING over the 19th century gothic aesthetic. like if you look inside my brain it probably looks like this

now i am fucking insufferable when it comes to historical accuracy with 19th century costumes, but clearly the people involved with this movie DID THEIR RESEARCH. the silhouettes were right, the hair was perfect, the attention to detail was amazing, and what shocked me the most was the accuracy of the undergarments, especially the corset and split drawers! there were only a couple very minor errors, which i think can be forgiven considering how generally accurate the costumes were.

these genuinely make me want to sew an 1830s outfit :') but anyways yeah the costumes made the movie even more immersive.

i love how ellen was portrayed, too. i'm very likely projecting because i've loved her character for a while now, but i thought that her relationship with count orlok was a great metaphor for mental illness. her recurring visions/trances really reminded me of the recurring nature of illnesses like depression and anxiety and how inescapable it feels. her line about not feeling human was a huge mood too, and yeah as someone who's neurodivergent i could definitely see myself in her. but again, maybe i'm projecting because i think she's a great character and i dressed as her for halloween in 2019 (which, weirdly enough, is exactly when i first started having significant issues with my mental health. is this some sort of omen should i be concerned)

in spite of this, though, my favourite character wasn't even ellen-- it was professor von franz, played by the national treasure that is willem dafoe. i very well could be biased because i knew beforehand that willem loved being on set with the rats, but i thought that von franz was such a sweet character, especially with all of his cats and having cat treats in his pocket <33 (now that i think about it, that in itself is a DAMN GOOD metaphor too)

but here's the major issue i had with the movie-- count orlok himself. yes, i am another moustache hater. while i can appreciate that robert eggers wanted orlok to be more of a folk vampire by being an old romanian count, to me the vampire just wasn't count orlok. maybe i'm too attached to the original movie, but in my eyes nosferatu is a tall, lanky, ratty looking gremlin, and the more monstrous, corpse-like orlok in 2024 just isn’t nosferatu to me. while his grotesque look definitely made the movie more visceral and disturbing, i really wish he had looked more like all of the other nosferatu adaptations. having said that, though, it was definitely interesting to see a folk vampire in a movie rather than the typical byronic vampire!

anyways i have one last thing to talk about which is very spoilery so i'll put my summary here. overall this movie was just as disturbing as i had hoped, and though some parts DEFINITELY grossed me out i think it really did the original justice. this movie is absolutely not for everyone because it's undoubtedly WEIRD, but i think that if you can handle disturbing content and love gothic horror or 19th century history and aesthetics then you'd love this! i think this adaptation would have made f.w. murnau proud.

so yeah aside from being for the gothic horror bitches and the art hoes this movie was VERY MUCH for the monster fuckers. now i love me a good byronic vampire and it would be SUCH A SHAME if one bit me, but as someone who isn't a monster fucker this nosferatu made me VERY UNCOMFORTABLE-- not in a way that made me dislike the movie, but sometimes i was like. ( ͡ಥ ͜ʖ ͡ಥ)

not complaining that i was uncomfortable though because that’s really what you want in horror! but yeah i’d be a liar if i said the movie didn’t gross me out a bit

but the big spoilery thing i wanted to talk about was the FINAL SHOT.

this is VERY death and the maiden and it reminded me so much of artistic representations i've seen of that trope. i was hoping orlok would do the dramatic ass pose and burn like he did in the original, but this final shot is just 😫😫😫😫🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻

this is what i meant when i said it’s for the art hoes! i definitely think eggers took inspiration from things like this.

but anyways that’s all, i loved this movie and it really needs a rewatch. thank you for putting up with my ramble 🙏🏻
