I've been around alcoholic people my entire life, it wildly effects people more than you think. My personal headcanon is that when Wallter is sober/hasn't drunk gray stuff he's really kind and compassionate! Yes, xe may have his rude moments & can be self absorbed but that can happen with anyone. However, whenever its NOT sober that all changes. She can be extremely rude, more self absorbed, not understanding etc etc. I like to think that Wallter is so heavily addicted to gray stuff that he genuinely doesn't see the fact that she is effecting people & hurting himself in the process.

Those are just my thoughts, have your own headcanons I'm not here to police you. lalallala
