Actual cat Dream gets adopted by Death and is heavily pregnant. Death's own cat Hob is purring happily and it turns out that Hob met Dream before due to him running out of the house when Desire forgot to lock the door a few weeks ago.

Death is holding Hob up and interrogating him like "are you the baby daddy?? are you?? are you out there trying to be a deadbeat dad, huh???" All while Hob just purrs and looks very pleased with himself. In his defence, he hasn't been neutered (Death has been meaning to get around to it but as he's MEANT to be a house-only cat, it kind of wasn't a priority...)

Dream isn't inclined to get involved in the argument. Being pregnant is quite difficult enough, thank you very much.

Well, whether Hob is the father or not, it's too late now. He and Dream do seem to get along very well, so obviously he seems prepared to step up as a father either way. He spends all day grooming Dream, and he even saves some of his dinner for Dream to eat - unnecessary but very very cute.

Anyhow, the kittens arrive. They're all sleek and black just like Dream, except for one: a very large tabby with a very loud meow. No DNA test needed: Hob Catling, you are the father!

Something is wrong.

Aleksander was supposed to have met her for breakfast in her chambers. It wouldn’t be the first time they’d done such a thing, since the head of the Oprichniki is supposed to check in with him regularly. It allows both of them to get work done & eat in a companionable mostly-silence—when they weren’t griping about incompetent nobles & royals. If something came up, Aleksander makes sure to tell Jayn, either in person or via messenger, that way she won’t worry or wait up for him. But he hasn’t said anything & it’s over an hour into their mealtime. He doesn’t sleep in, because he loves getting to watch the sunrise, bathing in its hopeful, gentle light while the Little Palace is still quiet.

Jayn pulls on the rest of her uniform’s layers (she’d been in her sleeping pants & usual shirt), plus her boots, then goes to Aleksander’s chambers herself. She knocks on his door, already coming up with plans in case he was sick or somehow injured by an assassin. He’s fine, the little Zemeni girl in her says gently.

No, he’s not.

“Al—" She squeezes her eyes shut for a second to calm down. “Moi soverenyi, it’s Jayn. Can you open the door, please?” He’s her responsibility, not to mention her confidant & friend. She needs visual proof that he’s alright.

1. A gödi akkumulátorgyár működése során megtapasztaltak okkal keltenek mindenkiben félelmet. Vízhiány, mérőkutak betemetése (!!), dokumentált talaj-, lég- és zajszennyezés, a veszélyes üzem miatti riadókészültség és protokoll, ingatlanok elértéktelenedése, stb-stb. Ezek mind-mind olyan dolgok, amiket egy felelős vezetőnek megnyugtatóan körül kellett volna járnia már az előkészítő tárgyalások során. Ehhez képest még a novemberben benyújtott dokumentum is napi 15500 köbméteres ivóvíz-felhasználásról szólt, és csak az első tiltakozások után kezdtek el gondolkozni a szürkevíz használatán, valamint a vízhasználat lentebb szorításán. A többi kérdésre nemhogy garancia, de válasz sincs. Ha egy polgármester ilyen helyzetben azzal áll ki, hogy “politikai hangulatkeltés” zajlik, akkor innentől egyetlen szavát sem vagyok hajlandó komolyan venni. Nálam önmagában ezzel véglegesen elásta magát a projekt.

2. Pedig nyilván lehet még egy akkumulátorgyárat is körültekintően üzemeltetni, de itt egyszerűen nincs meg rá a szándék. Ha lenne, akkor Gödön már a feje tetejére kellett volna mindent állítani, mindent alaposan dokumentálni és kíméletlenül bevasalni. Az emberek, a helyiek érdekénél azonban sokkal fontosabb a megalomán Beles akku-nagyhatalmi víziója, és ez süt minden egyes (nem)cselekedetükből és megnyilvánulásukból.

3. A kormány-nyalonc média pedig nem a megnyugtató tények bemutatásával próbál hatni, hanem szokás szerint belekezd a sorosozásba. Kész, ignore, a továbbiakban én nem is vagyok képes meghallgatni őket, mert ez fizikai fájdalmat okoz.

4. Amikor egy politikus az uralkodásának polgármesterségének megkoronázását jelentő projekt kapcsán annak ellenzőiről vigyorogva állítja a lehető legdurvább dolgokat, akkor - szerintem okkal - csak arra tudok gondolni, hogy már ő maga is nevet azon, amit mond. Már ő maga sem tudja röhögés nélkül kibírni azt, hogy mekkora baromsággal tömik a híveik agyát. Szórakoztatja az, ahogy a sötétben tartott gombákat trágyával etetik. Ez pedig legalább annyira elkeserítő, mint amennyire bosszantó.
