Grab yourself a T shaped pancake and enjoy!

I find the theme's of the novel by Michael Downing and the screen adaptation to be very compelling. Exploration of found families, stable queer couple navigating parenthood, potentially queer/gender nonconforming kids, coming out, self-acceptance.

I am a big fan of contemporary fiction, real-life situations meets romance/rom-com. I am not really into YA or fantasy, fandom can be heavily skewed in that direction. I also like more mature protagonists beyond the early 20s into adulthood.

Love a totally stable and in love m/m couple with careers and a house in the suburbs. No romantic drama. Just a wholesome queer marriage.

LOVE that the NHL and Toronto Maple Leafs gave permission to use the logos and branding in a queer-themed film.

I love both stories, novel and film. I think that the characters stand up really well in both. Particularly, I think Eric is entirely justified in remaining in the closet professionally and as a public figure. It was 2007! Ellen was recently out. Very few celebrities and next to no sports figures were out in that time period.

Tom Cavanagh and Ben Shenkman are just so fine, this should be self-evident.

I just love the wholesome, feel-good comfort of the film. I know it isn't perfect but for its time, I think it did well and was pretty ground breaking. Queer-themed films were usually tragedies back then.

LOVE that they incorporated hockey!!!

Love the supporting characters and feeling of a sitcom. That found family and found community comes through very strongly.

And most of all, I love that there is so much story to tell. How did Eric end up getting together with Sam if he can't even say the word gay out loud yet is ok talking about their bedsheets on the street for anyone to hear? How do they deal with Scot's trauma about losing his mom? How is Sam a sports attorney yet knows nothing about hockey? Did Scot finish the hockey season? I want to know all about Nula and George Jr's wedding! I want Eric/Sam commitment ceremony. Hell, I'd even enjoy Billy and Mia's wedding lol. I want to see Scot graduate from high school and Ryan Burlington get drafted.

Fun fact about her:she is a bit taller then Wally by the height of three feet tall and four inches and she doesn't like it when people hold her by her waist unless its Eddie or poppy and if it anyone else she'll just bite because she has sharp canines and when she met Eric and Nina she actually had a pretty bad reaction when she saw Eric because she thought he was the emo version of Eddie from a Welcome Home AU and it gave her a mini panic attack and she thought Nina looked pretty and she made Nina a dandelion flower crown as a gift

i have been doing some light experimentation this winter with miso and gochujang and i can tell you now they are two of the best substances on this green earth. a quick list of ways i have used them so far:

spoonful of each in the broth where you cook the ramen (big for miso, small for gochujang), along with half the flavor packet and a 7-minute hard boiled egg

teeny tiny amount of gochujang (like, 1/4tsp per cup max) in hot chocolate to add richness, depth, and spice

miso in the water where you cook the red lentils, combined with a can of butternut squash soup and a can of coconut milk, big heaping spoonful of gochujang for warmth and heat

2tbsp brown sugar, 1tbsp melted butter, 1tbsp gochujang; mixture swirled into sugar cookie dough (this is from a nyt cooking recipe by eric kim) or whatever other baked goods could benefit from a little kick.

pal of mine mentioned maple syrup + gochujang as a condiment, which would be spectacular on many roasted veggies (carrots, brussels sprouts, potatoes, beets, etc), or as a ham glaze, or on fried chicken (fried chicken & cornmeal waffles with maple-gochujang sounds completely incredible)

my budget is tighter than usual this winter and i can tell you that having gochujang and miso to play with is really bringing joy to what would otherwise be a season of mac & cheese, ramen, very basic soups, etc.

WHG 22 Day 1

It is time. The podiums rise, and the tributes look around upon a clearing in a maze with the cornucopia in the center. There are no trees, and in the distance, there's a rustling of the walls of the maze (which are bushes) moving and changing. The tributes stare at each other as the countdown sounds, and once it hits zero, everyone runs...

...And almost all of them run away. No blood in this bloodbath, but there is plenty of time for the rest of the day!

So, either Sohelia Yazdani has passed the trident around to multiple other tributes, or there are just a lot of tridents near rivers. And there still hasn't been any blood, as Lyra dies from hypothermia! Must be very cold in that arena. And it's just going to get chillier as night sets in.

But first, we must honor the fallen.

May the next world you go to be warmer.

And yes, lots of fires and Mav goes down to the cold as well! An interesting first day, and we shall see where it goes from here!

First of all, I am RPF’ing these people real hard in some private chats. But largely, I like the characterization happening here, and the little turn of understanding that happens in the last third of the fic.

I really feel like there’s been an explosion of excellent Draco/Harry/Ron all of a sudden. One of my qualms with a lot of polyship fics is that it's very uhhh “we must do everything together” and I really love that this fic breaks that down and allows everyone to have histories and experiences together as dyads and all together. 

In Our Blood

I’m not even going to bullshit y’all. This fic reminded me why I love mpreg. Excellent use of body horror, body dread, suspense, all these things. Also, an mpreg fic that remembers abortion is a thing. Amazing!

I’ve been obsessed with toomuchplor since Inception and this fic reminded me why. I don’t love Auror!Harry fic (truly, just so much unchecked, delighted writing about police brutality) but I do like any fic where Harry starts to wake up to the fact that maybe just because they’re “the good guys”, not every choice made by the Aurors/Wizarding Gov’t in general is right. Also, I appreciate the expansion on the idea of sex charms!
