WEEK #13 -- LAST WEEK

This is my last week as an intern at Celestial Travel. My experience at Celestial Travel has become a challenge but it was full of fun and learnings. I have encountered some clients who were difficult to deal with. But, I met a lot of nice people as well. :)

My experience as an agent for 3 months have helped me strengthen my customer service skill, problem solving skill, and my communication skill. It has helped me boost my confidence, feel comfortable talking and meeting new people. This placement also bring me and my colleagues closer together from Seneca. We’ve practiced to work as a team and helped each other out during our time in the placement. We have shared a lot of good memories together and I can’t wait to see everyone’s success and be able to fly with them in the future. <3

WEEK #11 -- CLOCK IS TIK-ING

Keep on tracking your hours...

Because days goes really fast. These days I have a lot of due dates assignments, but I have managed to get my hours and be able to finish all my work on time. My March Break was’t enough for me to get a good rest but I am just telling myself that it’s okay because every hardships will payoff after I graduate.

I just hope that procrastination will not hit me this month because there’s only 3 more weeks until the end of the semester! I have to keep on track and not waste time because April is coming up and that also means, exams are coming up too! So I better start on (how students call it)

WEEK #10 -- SOOOO CLOSE!!!!!

Helping is Caring. 

My co-worker have just started cleaning and organizing files. Helping them out with their given tasks, this will help us as a team to finish early, and also be able to have our break on time.

Heads up for everyone whose planning to do their placement there as they will have to always bring lunch with them. If not, you will have to go across the street to buy lunch at either Tim Hortons, Subway, or Harvey’s. Your 30 minutes break is not enough to eat your lunch outside.

WEEK #9 -- CHOOSE TO BEE HAPPY!

I am feeling great and busy at the same time. But we managed to do our job done, (filling out, pulling out files, and cleaning time). We almost do everything there. Meeting our clients and providing them with their needs at work have benefited us to learn more about how Travel Agency works and the role of an agency. But the most challenging is answering phone calls, because some of the customers are really loud and they have no respect at all. But hey in a Customer Service Industry, customer is always right! However,

In this case, I have the right as a person to explain them myself. I deal with this by apologizing to them first, letting them know that I am only a student doing my field placement at Celestial Travel. Try to understand their issues and frustration, then I try to help them if I can.

For anyone whose doing their placement there, know that you will encounter difficulties with them in the future. But keep in mind that you are still learning and gaining experience so don’t be afraid to speak up for yourself! 😌

WEEK #8 -- KEEP IT UP!

Patience Initiative Loyalty Friendship Cooperation

We are almost there and I am so excited to graduate and to finish my Placement at Celestial Travel Agency. I am really happy that I am halfway through and I am learning to work with others and to improve myself.

During these days, I really don’t feel well, because of the weather but I have managed to get where I am now and to accumulate my work hours and by having 100 hours in total. So few more weeks to go and I am actually done for my placement. I am very excited to apply what I have learned so much about working here.

WEEK #7 -- PATIENCE

For better service towards clients and to maintain relationships or build new ones you have to meet customer beyond service. Think before you speak in making calls, and be friendly to make them comfortable.

Patients have a part of my training and that I learned to manage my time at work. Sharing those moments with my co-workers, my friend have benefited me to gain my confidence and to gain experience.

WEEK #6 -- IMPROVEMENTS

I accumulated more than 85 hours at my Placement. I am learning more and more each day I come to Celestial Travel. I am very excited to see what this will take me in my future. Being there, I learn to do paper works more often and it’s fun, because it’s actually learning something that is related to my course. For example, I am getting used of reading the itinerary which is based on what we have learned in Amadeus in my third semester. I can’t believe it’s almost half of my fourth semester, and I am very much looking forward to learn more while I enjoy my placement.

WEEK #5 -- JUST FOCUS

All telephones are ringing and all of us were busy looking for specific files that are missing. A lot of customers are calling for every different reasons, that helps us to wonder and ask questions to our colleagues and to our manager, that help us to learn more because “the more we ask questions the more we learn “. It pushes us to work hard and make sure that we are doing our work and that we are following instructions carefully. Also, we just enjoy our time there and the things we’re learning at the Agency.

WEEK #4 -- KEEP LEARNING

Coming to Celestial Travel Agency for my placement is learning something new for me. This helps me know things and to learn from my co-workers and specially to my director Claudia Reeves. I have learned so much from her, and thankful that I have my placement, where I can grow and to enhance my own skills and abilities to work with others. Working long 8 hours is not that easy but it’s gives me the idea of what and how it looks like to work in the Agency.

WEEK #3

LET’S THINK POSITIVE!

YAY! I have a total of 37.5 hours and I have 112.5 more to go. If I don’t miss any days and stick to my schedule I should be finish by the month of (my birth month) April. <3

So far, I’ve been organizing and completing paperworks, and answering phone calls. I’m getting into the hang of answering the calls in a professional manner. I still remember when I first answer a phone call, I was very shy and a bit confused but now I am slowly breaking out of my shell. With the help of Claudia, I’ve been gaining my confidence in answering phone calls. So hopefully, once I reach my 50 hour mark I’ll be way more confident.

WEEK #2

THE COLD NEVER BOTHERED ME ANYWAY....

It’s freezing outside, and only few clients came to the agency to book for flight, and a few phone calls. Sometimes Claudia would ask Me, Marry, and Janine if whoever is willing to go to Tim Hortons to buy some food and some hot beverage for everyone. I have volunteered one time because none of them wanted to go due to the weather. I forgot to change into my outdoor shoes because I was thinking of Claudia’s order and trying not to forget it so I went right away. The snow was up to my ankle and I didn’t realize that I was wearing flats (my indoor shoes) until I felt that my socks are wet and that my shoes were wet already in the inside. So, after ordering from Tim Hortons, I came back with wet shoes, and right when I came Claudia gave me some paper works to do. I was working on my desk throughout the shift with my wet socks and shoes on. I couldn’t tell anyone about this embarrassing situation of mine. So I decided to bare with my wet shoes throughout the day since I’m not walking a lot and just doing some paper works on my desk. I could have changed into my winter boots but sadly I don’t have a spare socks. #lol

...And yes after a few days, I got a cold.

Lesson Learned #1 - Bring a spare pair of socks just like you ladies bring a spare pantyhose. - OR, If you bring a spare pair of shoes, bring a spare pair of socks as well.

WEEK #1

I FINALLY FOUND A PLACEMENT!!!

After a long long search, I have finally found a field placement. It was the last week for the deadline and still looking for a placement. #TBH I was almost giving up when I found out that there were more than 200 students that are doing their field placement this semester. However, my annoying self would not let me stop here. I only have few more steps to go to accomplish my dream. So, I continued sending resume and cover letter to 15 companies. But 11 of them sent me back an apology for not processing my application but luckily 4 of them scheduled me for an interview and Celestial Travel was one of the 4 companies who gave me a chance.

My first week at Celestial Travel Agency was not difficult. Claudia taught me how to properly speak to the clients on the phone. It was intimidating at first because sometimes there will be 4 phone calls at a time, and you should never miss a call because some of the clients are from a long distance but, it was not difficult. Instead, it was challenging for me because once you get used to it, you’ll find it really easy. I also did some paper works which are piling up documents in order by the dates, and also writing up some booking sheets for Claudia.

...And that is pretty much it. I’m so excited for my next coming weeks at Celestial Travel. :)
