ya got any ideas for gawain in your au? came up with a neat oc idea for gawain and the green knight. there's a lot of potential for a cute little monster transformation story seeing as a lot of the mythos features the green knight as being somehow transformed by morgan ^_^
I'm so glad you asked this... I actually had an old concept of this...
After ditching the G.S.A..... Morgan took on another apprentice (after Sir Dragato), "Gawain," and he's come to claim the seat as leader of the GSA.
He knew he wasn't as strong as the other knights... and a part of him always knew he'd never reach the legendary status as the others, so he made a deal with the devil (Morgan). He was her pawn... her puppet to secretly control the GSA in her name.
Gawain was supposed to be Meta's call to action to return & Dragato's "ah- ha" moment (my mentor was a scumbag to me).
But in the end, Gawain (my OC)... I had to cut him from the story. They took away too much from Dragato's storyline... and Meta's call to action is a different one.
So, these are my HCs if Gawain were in "Metamorphosed."
And @camachine, if you want to use it in your story, please feel free, you have my full blessing~
And for those of you who haven't read @camachine's "Metamorphosed" please do so before you keep reading, there will be several references/spoilers. (and it's a good read)
Inspo.
I drew reference from Gawain's original story "Gawain & the Green Knight," his original story... But I also drew from the modern retelling of The Green Knight (2021) the film She's his mother.
This is also considered a continuation of the previous work...minus the Gwynn revival...
Okay, so in "Metamorphosed," Gawain is the nephew of Arthur. The son of his other half-sister (Anna)... another one of Sir Uther's illegitimate kids and Morgan's sister. Yes, their mother cursed the Pendragon's name.
In the OG Arthurian legend, she's called Morgause (sometimes she's called Anna)... and it's too close to Morgan for me, so she's Anna.
This means she cursed the kids too... (Morgan had to get her pettiness from somewhere), however, if they wanted to avoid the curse... they just had to carry out their mother's will.
However, Anna wants to move on and live in peace, so she cuts Morgan out of her life. She married the love of her life (King Lot). She gets pregnant with Gawain and BAM! She dies giving birth to him... (Again, being a Pendragon means you're cursed!!)
King Lot falls into grief: and guess who he blames... baby Gawain! Since then, Gawain has put a lot of pressure on his son from the moment he was born... he would say to his young son, "You better make yourself useful and make yourself worth it..."
From the start, little Gawain had such an innocent desire to just be a great knight... so he could earn the love of his father... but he was never good enough for him... he just needed to be the perfect heir & knight so maybe... just maybe for once, his father to look at him...
No, in fact, his King Lot would deny he even had a son... because it would remind him that his dear wife was gone! As a result, Gawain would hide away in some far part of the castle... so he wouldn't be seen by anyone.
Then, one night, a monster comes and raids the castle... a basilisk (they assume it's one of Nightmare's monsters), but Gawain sees a ghostly figure... a green knight?
Wanting to prove himself, he dives right in to save his father. Everyone else is afraid, but Gawain isn't (well, he is.... but he's not missing out on the chance to prove himself to his father!) He chases after this ghost knight... while Morgan puts out an illusionary spell.
Making it look like this basilisk has killed Prince Gawain instantly (petrifying & swallowing him whole) & King Lot is now full of grief and regret. His son protected him despite all those years of coldness... and still loved him. Desperately wishing he could see his son again and apologize to his son.
Meanwhile, the real Prince Gawian follows the green knight (who is actually Dame Morgan in disguise) into an abandoned castle... and defeats him. (In refer. to the film The Green Knight 2021)
The ghost congratulates him on having their test of bravery and virtue... and says, "Since you've defeated me, you are now the Green Knight... and have earned my axe & title." However, Gawain is not easily convinced "No-no, one ever gets anything for free in this life... that's what my father says..."
Telling himself there must be more to this...The green knight offers it to him three times, sweetening the deal each time: "Along with the axe, I'll give my castle as well, and you'll be the perfect knight that you've always wanted to be..."
Gawain is tempted by each one, but something in his gut tells him not to... just as he's about to leave...the third offer is him something he could never refuse... "You'll get to have a mother again~"
With this... they'll be a family again... THIS IS IT!? Gawain (like in the original tale, Gawain gives into his human desire but "the desire to stay alive,"... it's the desire to see his mother).
Without hesitation, he grabs the axe only to be cursed instantly... As a result, Morgan makes him the"Green Knight..." endowing him with her dark Faye magic (making him into a monster- Basilisk) and in the process, he also loses his memories...
With Morgan rewriting it to this narrative:
Morgan was his mother, and their father abandoned them after he was turned into a monster (by Nightmare). He was afraid to be associated with him because of Sir Uther's regimen in the G.S.A. (and wanted no retribution.) And his cruel father even wanted to prove his allegiance to Uther & the GSA... but his mother wouldn't allow it. His mother saved him from his evil father, and as a result, he (his father) left them. And plans to destroy the GSA and make it a safer world for her and her precious son!
Basically, this gives him (Gawain) reason to hate the Pendragons (Sir Arthur & his family) as well as having unwavering love & loyalty to "his mother," who did everything to protect him because "she loves him so much"~ Plus (him being half-monster) it's a great reason for keeping him from going outside so often so he's not recognized as King Lot's. (The curse altered his appearance, but if you look hard enough, you can see it's Gawain under there.)
Lucky for Morgan... (despite knowing they had a prince)... the kingdom barely knew what the young prince looked like. Only coming out when it was necessary... Gawain did this intentionally so as not to upset his father with his present. (Oh how convenient~)
(Almost if not all) Arthurian interpretations Morgan always uses her kids as tools for revenge... Gawain's no different~
The orange color represents the Lothian Kingdom (King Lot), but after being cursed, the original color is turned red (red - Morgan).
Their name changed to Yvain (In Arthurian lore that is the name of Morgan le Faye) And then his monster form... Basilisk.
According to my source, a basilisk is a "hybrid chicken-serpent" but to make things easier for myself I just keep thinking about one one from Harry Potter (but @camachine feel free to change up the monster form for the guy already.)
But his smaller, default form would be a snake. (Basically, to symbolize he's a "snake" within the GSA.) He'd collect secrets and intel through the walls of the GSA and bring it back to Morgan.
She plans to destroy everything Sir Uther built (the GSA)... with Gawain being her most valuable chess piece. Taking over the GSA and installing him as the new leader... she's more than fulfilling her promise to help become "the perfect knight," she's basically ensuring he'll be that best. (She'll just happen to be rulering through him... Momma's gotta get something outta this!)
Not only that (despite having his memories erased), Gawain's core hasn't changed. He's still the same young lad desperate for love & praise... the thing he's never gotten from his father. And because of that, he was willing to do anything for his dear mother~
It's actually easy for Morgan to be, good to this kid... after all, she's still his auntie... (She's basically Mother Gothel from Rapunzel...)
A part of her is still upset with he sister (Anna) for abandoning her (for not wanting to get involved with their mother's curse). Using her sister's son as her pawn was just her way of getting back at her... dear sister... Speaking of siblings let's talk about Sir Arthur.
After finding out that she had a half-brother, she discovers that Uther actually acknowledged him (Arthur) as his son and denied her as his daughter... UNACCEPTABLE!
So what does she do... make him feel the same jealousy & inadequacy she's felt... all those years Uther denied her. And what does she do... she rubs her loving relationship with her son right in his face... (Kindly remind him of how bad he screwed up his relationship with his son...)
Dame Morgan rolls up with Gawain (now being called Ywain her son), who has just been accepted as one of the higher-ups... since someone got kicked off (Arthur) of the high council.
And how did Gawain manage to get it in such a short amount of time, you may ask?
Remember, our dear Gawain was a prince after all... he still had muscle & instinctual memory of his royal training. was clever, polite, graceful, respectful... (he's everything a prince should be... ) And Morgan can take credit for it all, for raising him so well~
(fake) Mother & son just happened to be off to celebrate, But then she sees Arthur as they're leaving and "OH HOW COULD SHE MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY!"
Sir Arthur (of course, was suspicious)... he never heard of Morgan being married before... let alone having a son. (Especially after flirting with his wife all those years ago...) Plus, this boy looked familiar...
(And he should... Arthur met King Lot and his son... years ago that twice even...)
But Morgan's a grade-A+ actress... and can play "the bitter ex-wife who's still trying to forget about her divorce..." perfectly. And doesn't miss the chance to remind him about his deceased wife Gwynn... who was killed by(Arthur) his own hand. And she ever so gracefully brings up her son... & ever so subtly shows off their bond, rubbing it in Arthur's face.
And Gawain (ever the faithful son) sees what she's doing and allows his mother to fawn over him in public. Even allowing her to call him "her his little apple." A nickname she'd call him ever since he was a little lad (that was his favorite memory of her). (TOO BAD IT'S FABRICATED... :')
I definitely wrote this within the timeline where Arthur stabs Falspar while he was trying to kill Meta Knight and fails... (or this could fit around where Falspar & Dragato leave the GSA after the wedding)
(But move it around wherever you want! :3 )
I'd like to think it's after the stabbing because in the sense Morgan's basically saying: "Oh look, it's my darling son that I love very much! Arthur, what did you do with yours... oh that's right, you stabbed yours... I'd never do that! Look at what you lost! SUCKS TO BE YOU!"
Arthur sees this sweet, touching scene between mother & son, and he can't help but envy them. (Reminding him all too well that he's all alone in the world, because of his own actions.) After successfully guilt-tripping Arthur, the two gleefully leave him in tears. Little did he know Arthur had just let the most dangerous duo in the galaxy slip from his grasp!
At that moment... had Arthur not been wrapped in his own personal problems he could have recognized (if he, looked hard enough) Gawain and saved him.
But even if he did... by then (after the incident,) Arthur's reputation had been already destroyed. Had he not wasted his time accusing an innocent man (Meta Knight) of treason. And now, because of his own decisions, a guilty woman walks free (Morgan), and the galaxy's gonna suffer for it (Dammit, Arthur!)
Despite putting on a "show" she's actually a good (evil) mom... she's supportive, kind, nurturing, loving, but not out of the kindness of her heart. She's merely fulfilling the end of the bargain...
To be still under her spell, Morgan must continue to fulfill her promises to him. Castle (given), perfect knight (taking over the GSA), and loving mother (check).
As long as Gawain believes her to be his mother, then he's forever under her spell. (Because that's what he wanted). He does have the power to save himself (the red flags are all there) once he realizes that he can break free... (but it's not that simple.)
Morgan poisoned his mind, yes, but this is a sweet poison. In the memories she created, he gave him the normal childhood he'd always wanted. A loving mother who adores him he loses that and will have to accept that he was a lonely prince who was ignored most of his life and is hated by his father.
As long as Gawain wants her love, he'll continue to be under her spell.
I wrote in a way that Gawain could save himself if only he'd realize that he doesn't have to be perfect... that he was always worthy of love, and that he doesn't need her (Morgan's) love, and that he was always enough. The spell would be broken!
(The original tale of Gawain & the Green Knight was supposed to represent one's acceptance of human flaws and that one can not be perfect... so that's why it's the key to set him free! SELF LOVE & ACCEPTANCE!)
Or if King Lot can find & recognize his son and snap him out of this mess. After the incident, Lot vowed to find the body of his son... but has yet to find it, so he's holding out hope that he's still alive. But then, again Lotty (King Lot) ... had you just loved your son properly none of this would have happened!
Those are my HC for Gawain, if he existed in "Metamorphosed," @camachine, thank you so much for your question! Even though I had scrapped him from KBASW, I'm so glad I got to revive him for your Kirby (au), it was so much fun! Hope you enjoyed it!

The Crooked House of Windsor
This quirky, off-balance structure is famously known as The Crooked House of Windsor.
It is a Grade II listed commercial building in Windsor, England, dating back 1687 AD.
The structure, which is also called The Market Cross House, was reconstructed in 18th century AD and now stands at “an outrageous slant.”
It has three storeys and bay windows at both the front and rear.
The Crooked House of Windsor is tilted at an awkward angle that seems to defy and even taunt the laws of gravity. But the building has not always been tilted.
The Crooked House of Windsor was originally built in 1592 AD, on the edge of the town’s market square — thus its older name of the Market Cross House.
Originally, the structure was rented by a butcher because the area used to be the town’s meat market.
The original iteration of this structure spent her first 100 years as a normal, unremarkable commercial building.
That is, until 1687 AD, when the town council ordered the building to be torn down in order to make room for the neighboring Guildhall.
A dramatic legal battle ensued, which resulted in the council being rebuked for destroying the beloved Market Cross House and ordered to rebuild it just the way it was.
The bitter and impatient local council rebuilt the structure as quickly and as cheaply as possible.
Unseasoned green oak was used rather than a sturdier wood. So once the wood dried out, it buckled and warped.
Eventually, the house settled into its characteristic lean that you see today.
But there is an alternative hypothesis as to how the house became crooked.
Some historians point out that the structure remained at a straight angle up until 1820’s.
This was because it was sandwiched in by adjoining buildings, which would have supported it.
However, when these buildings were demolished in the 1820’s, the house had no side support and began to buckle and twist.
Evidence of this theory can be seen in an oil painting housed in the neighboring Guildhall.
During the Late Victorian period, when the painting was done, the Market Cross House was a beer shop known as Royal Standard.
The structure you see in the painting below doesn’t look nearly as crooked as what we see today.
Whatever the cause, this idiosyncratic beauty has a place in the hearts of many locals and is beloved by photographers around the world.
Over the centuries, The Market Cross House has hosted a butcher’s shop, a brewery, an antique shop, a tea house, and most recently, a jewelry store.
Another unique thing about the Crooked House of Windsor is a “secret” tunnel passage from the basement that purportedly connects the building with Windsor Castle.
This passageway was allegedly used by Charles II (29 May 1630 – 6 February 1685) to sneak out and meet his mistress, Nell Gwynn.
The Crooked House of Windsor last went on the market in 2015 for £1.5 million.

Do you have any book/writings you would recommend that you think do a good job depicting life in 17th-18th C. Ireland, (whether incidentally or by design)?
Off the top of my head the best works of fiction abt 18th century Ireland I've read are Castle Rackrent by Maria Edgeworth + The Knight of Gwynne by Charles Lever + The Year of the French by Thomas Flanagan. Regrettably I haven't rlly read any fiction abt the 17th century :/ so I can't recommend any
#there's actually a surprising lack of 18thc irish historical fiction imo. there are a lot of rlly rlly good things set in the early 19thc#but far fewer actually set in the 18thc. very sad#books#irish history#jory.postbox

Man, I respect your commitment to inflict pain upon everyone. E=equality.
My Gwynn would pick Arthur because they're loyal dog first but it would destroy them. The person who get to live more freely in Camelot, made friends, adopted Mordred, fell for the King, this person is dead.
Eat enough to sustain the body, sleep enough to keep them in fighting ready state, just training and making rounds around the castle until they're needed. Friends, relationships, mental stability- all of those are things that a person needs. But Gwynn is no longer a person, are they? An actual person would never sacrifice their only family, Gwynn is just a fancy name for a weapon they always were meant to be.
Poor baby...

sweet summer child || theon greyjoy, petyr baelish
chapter one
o.c. x theon greyjoy, o.c. x petyr baelish, s1 AU, i’m rusty on lore i’m just begging you to go with it.
years after being taken in as a favor to her late parents, it is time for gwynne blackwood to marry and leave winterfell, without her love.
being a ward in house stark was not an easy task, but gwynnevere knew that it could always be worse.
her lord was kind, generous, and he raised his children to be much the same. his wife, catelyn, was less accepting, but as a ward gwynnevere had learned that the sentiment was not personal. she was extra, an unwanted burden upon the house stark, hardly of noble blood and resigned to a life of servitude toward the family who had kindly taken her in, an uncommon, almost unheard of measure of charity.
she was hardly seven when she arrived.
“gwynnevere, of house blackwood,” a member of her traveling party had announced, while the young girl bowed low as a sign of respect towards the family she had arrived to.
young gwynnevere stood in blatant contrast to the northerners. where they had sharp features and were built by their ancestors in a fashion to survive the harsh winter weather, she was slight and lithe, a summer child in the most extreme manner. with blonde hair and warm skin that still showed remnants of the riverlands sun, she could never be mistaken for a true child of the starks.
the house of blackwood had fallen from grace, with both parents passing of some unknown summer sickness. gwynnevere, a young girl, was unable to lead in their place. she had never imagined a life outside of the vale in her few short years of life, her family had been there, serving house tully for generations. as a resting favor to her mother, an old friend from younger days, catelyn stark allowed her to stay. gwynnevere would be raised into a fine young woman, and when deemed old enough, she would be married and return to the riverlands.
“gwynne!” arya called across the courtyard. she’d been lost in thought, aimlessly poking and prodding at her needlework.
looking up, she saw that theon and robb were taunting her, holding her wooden practice sword — something that she had begged for permission to have for years — above her head, just out of reach.
setting down her practice and walking briskly towards the altercation, she tried to reason with the two.
“come on, now,” she stood to the side, not wanting to get bumped into. “what sort of a use of practice time is this?”
“it’s only for her benefit!” theon reasoned. “what kind of a swordsman would she be if she cannot reach her weapon?”
robb laughed, and lowered the sword so that arya could reclaim it. she swiftly struck the two in their shins and ran off.
“does that please you, lady gwynnevere?” theon mocked with a dramatic bow.
with a swift smack, gwynne told him to knock it off.
“its not funny. what has gotten into you lately, theon?”
with a pointed look, theon told her that she should already know.
gwynne and theon had a long history together. she had arrived in winterfell not long after he did, and he was only a year older than she. they were fast friends, confiding in one another and playing about the courtyard as children, before the burden of their sexes drove them to separate duties.
their adolescence did not go without the typical rebellions, however. she did not have to act a lady around theon, nor jon snow, lord stark’s bastard. some of her fondest memories were with the two; sneaking around the castle after dark, giggling over a bottle of wine stolen from the kitchens, pulling jests on the other children of the house.
a facet of her youth that she kept hidden in her chest, though, was the love she had for her fellow ward. ever the affectionate summer child, she and theon would secretly meet in the night, without even jon, just to have more time together. they would hold one another, occasionally falling asleep cowered in some dark hallway together, just to be awoken with barely enough time to return to their respective chambers before the rest of the house roused. and one day theon, around the time of gwynne’s fifteenth nameday, would steal her first kiss.
“i am not one of your common girls!” she would exclaim, pushing him off.
“i am well aware of that, lady blackwood,” he’d mocked, bowing low. “but this is a special act, and it should be done by someone who cares for you, not just whoever lord stark decides to marry you off to.”
since that day, her affections towards the greyjoy ward would only grow, never able to manifest into something legitimate. in the following two years, the pair would occasionally embrace, or steal a quick moment of weakness, but never more. the tension had remained palpable, almost tangible, but never satisfied, because lady catelyn would never allow such a thing.
“you know that’s not for a long while, my love,” her voice lowered. “i’ve no suitor yet, or possibly ever.”
the boy looked down, prodding the freezing turf with the tip of his boot. “you do not know that,” he sighed. “lord baelish is coming today, and you, my lady, should understand that means something will happen regarding you.”
“you forget, he is also master of coin, and lord stark has been meeting with other leaders fairly regularly, now.” gwynne paused. “he could also be here regarding a betrothal for sansa, or arya even.”
the two knew that she was just making excuses, however, neither wanted to say this aloud.
gwynne had grown accustomed to life outside the riverlands, her sunkissed blonde fading to a dull brown, and the warmth of the sun leaving her skin. there was no denying it — she became more of a stark with every passing year.
she also grew more beautiful with each year, not that anyone other than her fellow ward would dare tell her that. sansa, with her jealous glares and rushed interactions, hinted at a sense of competition between the two, albeit one-sided. they both knew sansa to be the only one with a chance at the throne, and gwynne was content with her status as it was.
a shiver rushed through the courtyard and the two decided to head inside, chatting about the weather and fast-approaching winter as if nothing had happened.

"So, have you met any of the swan women?"
I took a moment to ponder, but ultimately shook my head.
"Not personally, but I have seen them hanging on the arms of the nobility. I don't even think I've heard them speak"
"So what, you wanted a pretty face with no mind? That's..... disturbing"
I look down in shame. I just wanted something to show everyone I was someone important. But I would have changed a life for what? God I feel horrible.
"I know, and I'm sorry"
"Look kid, you didn't know. But save your worries and help me get to the bottom of this. Okay?"
I nod my head and fasten my pace to the town with Gwynn by my side. Only after the sun touched the earth did we finally see the castle in the horizon.
"So, where to first?"
"Well, given how this whole thing is centered on the swan brides. I think we need to talk to them first. See if they really have a bird's mind. Then we can plan our next step."
"Okay. I know our local mayor has one he likes to flaunt. Maybe we can ask her."
Gwynn looks at me and smiles.
"Asking the big man's trophy. That's gutsy, I like it. Let's ask our bride"
Many young wizards have taken to transmuting swans into humans and marrying them. One day, you are lucky enough to find a swan in the wild, and without hesitating, you turn it into a beautiful lady. Unfortunately, that ‘swan’, was a goose. You have just given a goose a human form.

Story Launch: Crystal Magic
Today I'm happy to announce the launch of the remastered version of Crystal Magic, my fairytale space opera retelling of "Snow-White and Rose-Red" (among other fairytales)
I'd describe it as a cross between Star Wars and The Lunar Chronicles. If you like fairytale retellings, strong female leads, and celestial aesthetics inspired by the likes of Princess Rosalina or the Little Prince, you'll enjoy this story!
I will be updating once a week with Saturdays as my upload days on a variety of platforms: Tapas, Wattpad, RoyalRoad, and Quotev.
Summary:
One good deed will change the lives of Sorrel and Gwynn Marchand. They were supposed to have lived in an age of civility and mundanity under the flag of the Society of Worlds, an inter-planetary government. However, in the wilds of Undiscovered Space, war blooms between the Society's greatest trading partners, bringing to Society Worlds the whimsy and horror that lurks in between the stars. The girls take in a refugee, and in the process become entangled in a battle between good and evil that is as primeval as the stars.
Excerpt:
When starships leapt into the atmosphere, they almost looked like shooting stars. With a flash of light, they would appear in the night sky overhead. Then with faint trails of stardust in their wake, they would continue to the spaceport, often flying right over the city of Hoffman. “Make a wish.” Sorrel could hear her father’s voice as clearly as she could see the stars above her, even though it had been over ten years since his death. If she just looked at the sky, she could imagine that she was seven years old again and sitting by her father on the slanted roof outside of her parents’ bedroom. He’d point out the constellations to her, and tell her the stories behind the stars. Sometimes they would be stories of grand knights who ventured to defeat an evil witch in a castle, of a princess who ran away with a pirate, of a queen who lived in a castle made of ice. Other times, they would be stories about spacer trading routes and those who’d ventured beyond the borders of the Society of Worlds to undiscovered planets. Or they’d be more mundane explanations of the gases and chemical reactions that made the light seen beyond space and time. Sorrel preferred the fairytales or the spacers’ tales.

Tennessee Renaissance Festival
This unique vision became true in 1970 when a high school architecture student Mike Freeman drafted his own dream house, it wasn't just like a normal dream house but an entire castle. This was just for a project but sure enough he made it come alive. From the first thought, to drawing up the blue prints to then breaking grounds for the first tower in 1980. Mike had wonderful help from his wife Jackie, and a group of supporters transformed a quiet rural area to what is now known as the big white castle when driving interstate 840 here in Tennessee. Castle Gwynn and this well known festival is the destination to be at in May. Mike Freeman shares the outside of the castle to the public weekends in May and Memorial Day. Visiting the castle is a bonus attraction of attending The Tennessee Renaissance Festival, hosting over 70,000 people a year. Did you know the Freeman's started the Tennessee Renaissance Festival over 30 years ago and soon developed into an the annual event to attend here in Tennessee. The Freeman's preserved the lands and ensure that the festival continued to operate at high standards for years to come. By doing so Mike Freeman proposed a partnership that would then benefit all. Mike will tell you that just because he lives in Castle Gwynn on the north side tower. but it's because he never stopped giving up on building his dream home. Putting in 12-18 hours in and building as he goes which has taken 26 years to complete. When I was there May 14,2023 it was getting repairs and adding things onto to it.
I haven't shown you a picture of it yet because when I do you'll instantly know which castle I'm talking about. Even if you haven't attended the Tennessee Renaissance Festival or seem like you wouldn't want to. Swifities listen up. Castle Gwynn is the exact castle Taylor Swift filmed her music video for Love Story which led to Castle Gwynn nationwide recognition. Wondering where Castle Gwynn name comes from, The answer to that question is it's color. Two seven story towers are connected by a brick cloister, or even a walkway with Indiana Limestone arches and both towers are painted a stucco white.
Wanting to know how you can get close to this amazing castle? You'll have to attend the Tennessee Renaissance Festival in May (Mother's day weekend is usually when the event is scheduled but things can change. During this festival the grounds of Castle Gwynn come alive, guests dressed up in Renaissance clothing or even themed cos play/costumes. From game booths to art work and other local shop accessories are there to check out along with vendors from delicious Turkey leg to funnel cakes. You won't go hungry at this event. There is also jousting tournaments by knights on horseback games a quick bus ride for up close seeing of Castle Gwynn. Tennessee Renaissance Festival is one of those events you don't want to miss and keep going back to.
Things to know about the Tennessee Renaissance Festival
It took 50 long years for Castle Gwynn to be built.
The castle wasn't complete at the first Renaissance, just two towers and a roof.
If I were to get married this is where I would want to have it at. I'm sure some of are you to and wondering if you can. Mike Freeman always said that was the plan from the very start. He's been working on the hall for two years now and sadly could take a couple more.
To those just there to have a good time, to those interested in Game of Thrones, to fantasy lovers, video game lovers, comic books collectors, those that love Star Wars or Star Trek everyone is welcomed and will find something to enjoy while attending.
This is a popular event so there can be a long wait before entering. TRAFFIC!! If it has rained lately it's best not to wear your best shoes as it can get very muddy there. Kids are welcomed at the event and no worries about having to put up with annoying drunks, as alcohol is not permitted on grounds. You don't have to dress up to have fun it was nice walking around seeing how much people really get into this. I'm not a big fan of Taylor Swift or much into Renaissance events and I still had fun and plan on attending much more events here. There was so much to do and little ways to have fun while spending the day there. SO much food!!! and I'll admit it was incredible to see Castle Gwynn
My thoughts while attending:
I was not expecting to see so many people to dress up or just being so invested in it.
I thought there could of been a little more food or beverage options
I did enjoy the fact that they don’t accept alcohol on grounds. There’s always someone that ruins it. I guess after so many calls to police about drunk and disorderly behavior that got set in place.
The bus that drove to the Castle didn’t have ac luckily it wasn’t a long trip.
So many people in a small place but luckily to be outside and able to spread out.
