When we were 18, I kissed Violetta without her consent in front of a livestream. It was wrong of me. I can only give the excuse that I was young and dumb. "Sooo, how do you like working with Hawks? A friend of mine interned with him when we were back at UA, and we kinda worked with him during the war. You moved to Japan after it ended, right?"

Himitsu knew her dance partner, a rookie pro from UA's infamous Class 1-A. His name was Eijiro Kirishima - aka Red Riot - and he was a few years younger than her, having graduated just this year. This was her first time talking to him, though, he'd been on the scene of a villain attack she and Hawks assisted with over the summer. He seemed nice and was easy to talk to, but she had to wonder if his invitation was simply out of pity since Hawks ditched her shortly after dinner to make good on his long list of dance reservations.

*Better than the alternative...*

Himitsu cast a glance over to the table where Enji was in deep discussion with the business owner from the North, a man by the name of Daisuke Kaneko. She didn't care much for either of the men, which made a pity-dance more appealing than sitting with them.

She fixed a smile on her lips and nodded. "Ah, yeah. I only arrived in Japan a week before my debut. Because the war took place outside of the country, I wasn't qualified for the assignment until a couple months after it ended."

Lies on top of lies. They built the foundation of her existence.

"I totally get it. What made you decide to come to Japan?"

Himitsu launched into a contrived explanation about how she wanted to be a part of the recovery efforts and threw in a line about her concern regarding the issue of limited hero numbers in the wake of the war. Her expressions matched her words, her prosody perfectly controlled in order to convey the emotions she wanted him to perceive. It was so convincing, she almost believed the bullshit herself.

The song ended, and she stepped back, considering a trip to the bar. She wasn’t much of a drinker, but the night had inspired her to reconsider her options.

"Do you want to dance some more? I was going to ask you about life in the States." He grinned, rubbing the back of his head.

"Sorry, kid, but I think I owe my date at least one dance before the end of the night."

Himitsu turned to see Hawks standing behind her. She had to admit he looked good in a tux. The black jacket had red trim that matched his wings, the entire ensemble tailored for a perfect fit. His hair was its usual wild mess, but the look worked for him.

"Yeah, sure." Kirishima chuckled. "Thanks for the dance, Oracle. Maybe I'll catch you later."

Hawks held out a hand, and she stared at it for a long moment before accepting. He pulled her to him, his arm slipping around her waist as the music swelled, and he spun them onto the dance floor.

"Hmm, Himitsu, you really do look incredibly sexy in that dress."

The heat rose in her cheeks as he leaned in to whisper the words. His warm breath tickled her neck. She caught a hint of his cologne - some overpriced brand with notes of sandalwood and musk - and it reminded her of the times she was forced to let him carry her as he flew to the location of one emergency or another. This was even more awkward.

She drew away and glanced at the other dancers to make sure no one heard him say her name.

*Idiot.*

"You've had too much to drink."

"What?" His eyes widened, but a smile teased the corners of his lips. "You think I wouldn't compliment my beloved partner without being under the influence? I compliment you all the time."

"No, you don't, but you definitely ate my last muffin the other morning. Actions speak louder than words, *hero*."

"That so?"

He chuckled and pulled her close again, guiding her with practiced ease through the cluster of couples at the center of the dance floor. She did her best not to trip over her own feet. Or his. Years of ballet practice made her graceful and agile, but aside from some mutual swaying with Kirishima moments ago, she'd never danced with someone else. Not this closely, this intimately. The designer gown swirled with each movement, and the diamond bracelet on her wrist sparkled as it caught the lights.

People glanced in their direction then whispered to one another, or maybe it was her imagination. Her heart raced, and she wondered if she'd had too much to drink.

At the edge of the crowd, the government official's daughter stood, staring at them. Her pretty features contorted with anger, face flushed and lips pressed into a thin line, making no effort to hide her animosity.

*Did he accept her invitation?*

Himitsu sighed and put some distance between them again. "Why are you doing this?"

"Doing what?"

Hawks looked confused by the question, which agitated her more. How did he manage to play with so many hearts and come out unscathed? There had to be at least a few of his fans who took his flirtation seriously and thought his interest was genuine. She understood their assumptions weren't his responsibility, but he had to realize how his behavior might hurt someone. It was difficult to believe he was oblivious to the possibility. Was he just that callous?

"Why are you dancing with me when you have a whole line of girls waiting for the privilege?"

"Are you serious?"

Himitsu gave him a look he'd probably seen a thousand times since they met: a mesh of exasperation, disbelief, and frustration. She tried to figure out - yet again - why he acted like he had no idea how he affected people when she knew he was fully aware. He hid behind a carefully constructed fascade. They were a lot alike in that way to be fair, but it made her crazy that she could never see through his disguise. What was he hiding?

"You're my partner and my date," he added after a moment, "how would it look to the public if we didn't dance at least once?"

The music faded.

Himitsu made certain her movements weren't too abrupt as she pulled away from his embrace. She plastered a pleasant smile on her lips and kept her tone light. "If you'll excuse me, hero, I need to freshen up.*

His brow furrowed for a split second before he flashed a grin. "No sneaking off."

This time, she made no effort to hide her irritation, turning on a heel and heading towards the far end of the ballroom. She needed to get away from him - from all of these people - and compose herself. The gala was as far from her element as an evening could get, and the effort of maintaining this pretense was draining.

She entered the restroom with a sweeping glance to assess her surroundings. Throughout her earliest years, the habit had been ingrained in her, and it stuck. The area was spacious. Empty. Silent. The black floor tiles had been polished to a shine, and the lighting around each mirror cast a rose-tinted glow over the marble countertop and golden fixtures. Her heels clicked as she crossed the room to a small alcove away from the toilet stalls. She sank onto the plush chaise lounge that had been placed there.

Himitsu sighed and pushed her emotions down deep, grasping desperately for the internal calm she'd spent the first half of her life cultivating: the quiet numbness that allowed her to survive.

*I need to get a grip.*

The stress of the night was wearing on her: forced conversation and flashing cameras. She hated the constant buzz of voices ringing in her ears, an almost tangible sensation that set her nerves on edge. It felt inescapable, which

made her irritable and made Hawks more annoying than ever. She bit her lip, realized she was holding her breath, and exhaled with a gasp. Her hands trembled in her lap. She clenched them into fists and willed the shaking to stop.

*Maybe no one will notice if I stay in here until it's time to go home.*

A few momenets later, the door swung open, and laughter shattered her brief reprieve. Himitsu forced her body to relax, loosening her grip. She ignored the bloody crescents left in the wake of her perfectly manicured nails and smiled as the trio of rookie pros noticed her and hurried over to say hello.

The Soulmate Equation

This is one of the most highly recommended romance books in booktube, bookstagram, booktok basically everywhere and it didn’t disappoint. I’m hooked from the very first line. I love the concept and the 98% compatibility totally hooked me. It’s easy and fun to read. It took a while for the hero and heroines relationship to develop but it didn't bother me one bit because it was so much fun to read. I love Jess's support system. I wish I had a friend like Fizzy and I also love the other characters, Jess’s adorable and smart kid Juno, and her grandparents who have been helping and supporting her for as long as she can remember and River Nicolas . The whole cast added so much humor and heart to this story.. I also love the nerdy parts of this book.

Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating

This is pure, unadulterated fun reading experience. I can't remember how many times I cracked up because of this. I love Hazel, she’s my kind of crazy. I admired how CLo created the fundamental link between Josh and Hazel, from moderately charmed indifference to inquisitive tolerance to warm friendship to genuine mutual love, from beginning to end. As with the other CLo stories I've read, I liked how, while its main characters were plainly physically drawn to each other, the core of the relationship was established through compassion, laughing, respect, and a profound appreciation for the full package that was the other person. I really loved the supporting cast. Friends, family members, and pets. This novel is filled with warmth, with two interesting protagonists who want the world for each other but take a long to figure out how to do it successfully. The blind dates offer a lot of levity while also propelling the plot ahead, as each meeting exposes a bit more about where Josh and Hazel are going, what they want most, and what is getting in their way. Overall, this is an addictive, engaging book full of humor, delight, and a lovely friends-to-lovers romance.

Love and other Words

I really enjoy the beginning of this book. It struck almost all of my sweet spots. This book's childhood buddies to lovers theme is fantastic. The connection grew out of similar principles, humor, and genuine compassion rather than initial physical attraction. There are also extremely relatable errors and anxieties. The loving families in this novel are nothing more than chef's kisses. It's an excellent plot that unfolds naturally. There are also a lot of unanswered mysteries as the stakes rise, and I really want these two to find their way together. I won't claim this book is flawless, but it will impact you at some time, even if you haven't experienced what they have.

Harmony Stories

Of Magical Descent: takes place during their fifth year. Hermione went to sleep and didn't wake up. She's been in the Hospital Wing for two days and is clearly on the verge of death and Harry's going to save her or at least get her to someone who can -- I have a heavy headcanon of what Hermione's background would be if she weren't actually muggle-born and this story heavily explores it (as well as Finding Ever After). Also features an ensemble cast of both good and bad characters, ocs, and features SuperPowerful!Harry Currently posting: Read Here!

Finding Ever After: in an AU in which Riddle died in the 80s and there was no chosen one or second war. Harry's parents raised him and he has more siblings. Hermione is a single mother and Harry is completely in love with her. The ministry creates a law to promote having children (monetary benefits, promotions, etc. Like, it's actually really good for struggling families) but Hermione's ex signs them up and oh snap now she needs to find a way out because otherwise, she has to marry that git. Sort of marriage law but also not at all. But if you like the family and romance of As It Should Be, you're gonna love this one too.

Mutually Beneficial: in an AU in which Hermione went to school in France and Harry was still the Chosen One and won the war. Takes place when HHr are both 30 or almost 30 in Harry's case. Hermione works as a school teacher with McGonagall at Minerva's pre-Hogwarts school. Someone has it out for their school and they're in deep shit. They need to produce WAY too much money in a short amount of time or their school is done. Harry, meanwhile, needs to get married or he loses everything in the Potter and Black vaults. Features Daddy/Little dynamic, trauma-ridden!Harry and adoption.

A Mother's Love: long-shot most likely. Post-War fic where both HHr are healers. Hermione finds an abandoned, magically traumatized baby and elects to take it in. This story involves maternity magic and delves into it a bit more than my other stories.

Lunar Eclipse (a Luna/Harry/Hermione fic): AU that starts Post-War. Hermione has been betrayed by those she most trusted and is about to be thrown into the arms of the enemy. Harry takes it upon himself to save her, but things go a little awry when Luna accidentally gets involved too. Features Arthurian literature, SuperPowerful!Harry, EPIC world-building, Covens and ritual magic, a very sexually aware Harry Potter, Luna being perfectly Luna, and Hermione being super stressed out about everything.

((I love this one but have been having a lot of problems with it. Shout out to Kneazle for being a dear and helping me out with it 🌟❤️ She's my favourite))

Midnight Sun: AU fic in which Voldemort won and Harry was killed in the Final Battle. Two years later, Hermione is the last surviving Order Member, on the run with Daphne Greengrass, Teddy Lupin, Ophelia Weasley (Fleur and Bill's daughter) as well as about 15 other kids that they rescued. While trying to flee the country, they run into Greyback and a werewolf who looks suspiciously like Harry. Werewolf!Harry fic

Rewind: Post-War AU that starts at Harry and Hermione's wedding in the Minister for Magic's office. They leave with Teddy (11) to go on a little family vacation before Teddy has to go back to school when they're attacked. They end up decades in the past and have to pretend like they're from an alternate reality instead of the future (because time travel this far back is punishable by death to preserve the timeline). Features grey!Harry, pregnant!Hermione, and adorable!Teddy Now Posted 5/6 chapters: Read Here!

Stealing Magic: AU world where there was no war. Hermione is close friends with Harry and all the Potters. In this world, there is a thing called a "magical match," which is the Wizarding World's version of a soulmate. The Ministry of Magic has a department dedicated to matching people up to give them the best shot at finding their magical match. It actually works too! Most marriages that come out of that department are extremely successful. Harry thinks it's bullshit, but that's mostly because Hermione isn't on his list and she should be because he knows that she's his soulmate. So why isn't she? Features some Jily, some Nev/Hermione, some "fatherly Sirius Black" as well as Wolfstar.

Other Works:

Where the Pieces Fall: a Jamione time-travel fic. Starts with an extremely depressed post-war Hermione. Hermione was cursed when thrown back in time and will likely have to live with the consequences of the dark magic for the rest of her life. Meaning, if she tried to get back to her timeline, she would likely die. She doesn't care. Also, due to her time-travelling, the time she ends up in is NOTHING like the time we know. It's basically an AU. Some of the major changes of this new 1984: James is alive, not married to Lily, and is a healer. Sirius Black went to Durmstrang instead of Hogwarts. Remus is not a werewolf and is married to Lily, the two of them are friends with Snape.

The Master of Death: a Harmony story that's also a Supernatural crossover. Hermione and Harry destroyed parts of the Department of Mysteries during the battle in fifth year and in order to repair those damages, the Unspeakables do a dark ritual to bring it back. They sacrifice HHr and throw them through the veil. They end up in a pizza parlour and sit down to have a chat with Death. He explains that if you're destined to complete a prophecy, you must. He sends them to a new reality where a new prophecy will be made and a new war will be fought. This story picks up almost directly after season 5 when Sam jumps into the pit and Dean is heading over to see Lisa all heartbroken and sad. Instead, he stumbles upon Harry and Hermione. Featuring PapaBear!Dean, Just-trying-to-be-kids!HarryandHermione, also badass!HarryandHermione

(Working Title) Arthmione: a King Arthur/Hermione story that's a crossover with the BBC Merlin series. Arthur was on a scouting mission with Merlin and ended up kidnapped, taken to an underground gladiator-style fighting ring and forced to compete -- that was three months ago. After a battle is won, Arthur is given a "prize" in the form of a naked and terrified Hermione Granger. Forced to live in very close quarters, the two try to work out how to escape when it's clear that no one is coming for them. Meanwhile, Hermione is still trying to work out how she ended up back in Camelot times for fucks sake. Also, sex and romance

(Working Title) Merlione: a Merlin/Hermione story that's a crossover with the BBC Merlin series. Post-War. Magic is all but dead and Hermione, after having studied the Old Religion from the only remaining book on it, tries to do a ritual to save it. It doesn't work. But the First, the primordial being that created magic, arrives instead. He sends her back to Camelot with a mission to help Merlin and Arthur. Together, the three can stop magic from being corrupted by Morgana. Features badass!Merlin, badass!Hermione, ritual magic, the Old Religion, and a lot of Camelot things.

.... I think that's all of them? Well, okay, so I left out several other stories that I haven't worked on it a while, but these are the main stories I'm currently working on. All of them. At the same time. Most have a good 40 pages written. Some have as many as 100. I mean, it's a toss-up. So yeah, this is why I rarely post anything 😅

SA’IDA –– honestly I don’t know. she’s still pretty young; she might not have experienced real heartbreak yet.

BEX –– her first girlfriend broke up with her. it was kind of a mutually-agreed-upon thing––bex was signing up to join the alliance and rosa wasn’t and they knew things were going to end, but they ended messier than either of them planned and it hurt for a while after that. (“we both know you won’t come back for me,” rosa said, and it was true, and it was all the more terrible for that.)

VESPER –– sitting near someone just barely touching, a knee or an elbow or a shoulder. sharing things that are important to her. accepting support. admitting vulnerability. laughter.
