If you thought that the Jocks In Jills podcast could give my MVP Lee Stecklein a shout-out without me making record of it, then you thought wrong, my friends!
from the Jock In Jills Podcast, SE01-EP19, starting at 32:34
talking about what happened after the end of Game 4 of the Finals
TESSA BONHOMME:
I do have to point this out too though. After the game we usually quickly turn our chairs around to get ready for our post-game stuff to close out the show and everything and send viewers onto whatever it is they have to watch after us, after our broadcast.
Minnesota stood there at center ice, tapped their sticks, saluted their fans, and thanked them for coming. Because after all this is the last game of the season that they’re doing here. They all went in the middle to hug—Cassie Campbell-Pascall actually pointed this out to me after—and I had noticed, who’s gonna be the one talking if anyone’s talking?
And Lee Stecklein addressed the team at center ice.
And for those who don’t understand or appreciate or know who Lee Stecklein is: that girl, let me tell you, her voice carries some serious weight. I have mad respect for her and I am long gone retired—not only as a person but as a player—and I can only tell you that whatever was said out on the ice there will be carried over in three days when they are in Boston. And I don’t know what was said, but I’m very thankful and glad that she did. Because that team was torn apart and beaten down and battered and, like, distraught after that game. And I feel like she did her due diligence there in making sure that that team was picked right back up.
CHERYL POUNDER:
You know, Kenzie [LaLonde] and I and you Tessa, have been fortunate to be in the game for a long time, and it’s interesting, you talk to different coaches, different coaches come in and out of programs, different players come in and out of programs, but anytime you ask anyone, any coach, anyone about Lee Stecklein, the word that they use is “Natural-born Leader.”
And it’s interesting because we’ve watched her be placed on the National team where they tried to get her out of retirement with someone like a Caroline Harvey. Right? And then you all of a sudden see Caroline Harvey’s game elevate. In this situation you see her aligned at the beginning when Sophie Jaques comes over. And that is a strategic coaching decision, because coaches know that she plays for others. That she plays the right way, she plays hard, she loves the game, she’s passionate, but also she’s just that leader that knows how to elevate and lifts you up.
And so a perfect voice, I would think, leading into a game 5 after a situation like that.
KENZIE LALONDE:
I've asked Ken Klee before, I did say, in the room if there needs something to be said, if a word is said, if it’s a quiet locker room and someone’s saying something, who is it?
And he just kinda said, It’s Lee. Without a doubt. Like she will always be the one to vocalize something. The room listens when Lee speaks.
And we’ll never know what was said, it’ll probably stay amongst them, but what better person to lead them through what will be one of the most challenging moments in their hockey careers.

Peace Out High School
Hello UCONN (GO HUSKIES)

Grad was tiring to say the least but hey im going to UConn, Aaliyah's going to UConn. Anyways I'm Elliot and i know what your thinking that's a boys name. Well your right but Sasha is a girls name and ive met so many male Sasha's. Full Name is Elliot Griffith Campbell-Pascall. Daughter of Famous Cassie Campbell-Pascall. My parents had me in 2001 so 4 years before they got married and 9 years later had my baby sister Brooke. Growing Up I played Hockey (with both my parents playing professionally I had no choice) Lacrosse and Football (soccer). I decided to Commit to UConn for Hockey because i wasn't getting any other full rides and because Aaliyah committed.
Aaliyah and I met in Highschool. I had failed grade 1 because i had undiagnosed autism and ADHD so it made it hard to learn. I was always fidgeting, I threw tantrums when we had supply teachers and everyone thought I was weird so they kept bugging me until I broke a kids nose (That was a fun trip to the office). But soon after that incident i was diagnosed with ADHD and Autism and now I get a special TA to help me with all my work and extra time on tests and assignments. We met in first period which was math and lets say i was STRUGGLING but Aaliyah noticed this and helped me out. Now almost 4 years later we are inseparable sure we both dated each other then cheated on each other but thats how we found out we are better off as friends.
I Played Hockey for the Mississauga Senators AAA (Hockey) up until i hit the U18 boys team because i was too good to play with the other girls. I am also 6”4 so a lot taller than all the other girls too (Best defencewomen in the league). Played for the Mississauga Badgers (Lacrosse) U17 rep team until I turned 17. Finally played for Dixie Rep U18 girls team as a Keeper. It was A lot balancing 3 sports, especially lacrosse and Football because their seasons are the same, but me and my parents managed with the help of Wick (Hayley Wickenheiser) who became my professional baby sitter. (i said my first swear word at aged 2 and quoted “The Americans Had Our Flag On The Floor Of Their Dressing Room And Now I Want To Know If They Want Us To Sign It.” everyday for a whole year)
That's it for now thanks for reading

New Hockey Canada board tasked with rebuilding public trust
New Hockey Canada board tasked with rebuilding public trust
Hockey Canada has a new board of directors. Now the real work begins. The national sport organization’s members elected a slate of candidates to fill nine vacant board seats with a vote Saturday at its annual winter meeting. Retired judge Hugh L. I will say Hextall's play by play has (barely) improved and I am enjoying the commentary of whoever is announcing with her. (I am so sorry I did not catch your name ma'am) edit: her name is Cassie Campbell Pascall
Am I a fan of Leah Hextall's voice? No. Am I going to champion the fuck outta this all female broadcast crew on ESPN+ anyways? Yes.

cassiecampbell77 Not sure if this is fate material, but check out the GWG from the @thecwhl and @nwhl.zone finals this year. A sure sign that doing what’s right for the game is meant to be.

I have my gripes with the ESPN broadcasts, but it is pretty cool to see a national broadcast use an all-female commentary team for a game!

Former Team Canada captain wants N.S. premier to apologize for cancelling women's hockey championship
A Canadian women's hockey icon has fired off a slapshot of blunt criticism at Nova Scotia's premier.
Cassie Campbell-Pascal say the cancellation of the women's world hockey championship was the decision of an inexperienced politician -- and she wants Iain Rankin to apologize to the players.
The criticism from the former Team Canada captain comes one week after the cancelation of the 2021 IIHK Women's World Hockey Championship and Campbell-Pascall suggested Rankin ignored advice from medical experts.
"I also think we need to look at the premier of Nova Scotia," Campbell-Pascall said. "This is a new premier, a fairly inexperienced premier, and he did not use the expertise that was given to him."
She added Rankin still has some explaining to do with the athletes.
"I thought it was some really poor judgment by the premier of Nova Scotia and I think he owes these women an apology," Campbell-Pascall said.
On Thursday, Rankin responded.
"At this time, it doesn't matter the level of hockey or any sport, we are asking for zero activity," Rankin said.
As for suggesting the premier did not listen to expert advice, Dr. Robert Strang, Nova Scotia's chief medical officer of health, says that's simply not the case.
"This individual has no idea of the conversation I've had with the premier," Strang said. "The premier and I were completely on the same page on this."
On social media, some are supportive of what Campbell-Pascall said, but many are scathing in their criticism.
"After speaking with a lot of my teammates, we all feel the same way," Team Canada forward and Nova Scotia native Blayre Turnbull said.
Turnbull fully supports health and safety measures in her home province, but she says the Hockey Canada COVID-19 bubble would have isolated the players coaches and staff.
"I find it hard to understand the cancellation," Turnbullsaid. "I just don't possibly understand how we could've been at a risk of spreading COVID with the people here in Nova Scotia."
Both Turnbull and Campbell-Pascal say they remain hopeful the women's world hockey championship, which was to be held in Halifax and Truro, will be re-scheduled later in 2021.
Cheryl MacDonald of the Saint Mary's University Centre for the Study of Sport & Health said Campbell-Pascall failed to mention how the Maritimes has dealt with COVID-19 for the past year.
MacDonald said the track record in this region is pretty solid and she thought that should've been highlighted as this issue was discussed.

Being in Canada, we don’t get the NBC feed like, ever, so I don’t know how often AJ Mleczko is on the broadcast but I really like her and it is always heartening to have a woman as part of the broadcast, especially as a woman who didn’t have any examples of that growing up until Cassie Campbell-Pascal joined the HNIC broadcasts.

Former Canadian Olympic team captain Cassie Campbell-Pascall has resigned from the CWHL's board of governors to speak publicly about it. It's awkward to be critical of the two leagues while serving on the board of one, so Campbell-Pascall stepped down this week.
"I believe in something that's bigger and better than what we have right now," Campbell-Pascall told The Canadian Press. "I've gotten to a point where if I don't say something, I believe it's going to take longer to get where we want to go.
"I'm not at odds with the Canadian Women's Hockey League and I'm not at odds with the National Women's Hockey League. I'm at odds with why we haven't become one.
