My theories as to why Casper is so secretive of his past:

1: He is some sort of demigod or magical being that was kicked out of his home in shame for doing Bad Thing

2: literally a criminal/killed someone

3: some sort of pathetic alternative like he forgot to go check on his daughter in the bathtub or drunk driving

My defense for Ava and Casper as a ship: they are one of the only straight couples that when I think of them I don't think "oh that's a good straight couple". They're dynamic is so interesting I don't think of gender at all. i could care less about how gay both of them seem, those two are in love and crazy about each other I can feel it in my bones. Ava felt comfort in her relationship with Casper for years bc she felt less alone with his whole bit being that he's chronically alone but then when he had his character development she realized now she's the lonely grumpy one and her teasing hardly means anything but at the same time I think she loves how Casper has changed she's just way to suppressed to acknowledge it but we know she's protective of him and he obviously means more to her then anyone else in the diner even if she isn't exactly affectionate with him. I think she desperately wants to be able to meet him where he stands now both for herself and for him but she's spent so much time being the smart solitary one and can't bring herself to be vulnerable yet. You're gonna tell me that frenemies to lovers/watching the person you love grow into someone amazing and realizing how far behind you are dynamic isn't interesting AS HELL????

when I first started listening to Midnight Burger, I had a little silly theory that Effie and Zebulon were some kind of gods or beings so complex, that they could be seen like gods. I thought, that they were interconnected with the diner and the reason, they like that is because they liked the 1920-Arizona-family-style aesthetic, so they decided to adopt it.

And the s1 finale kind of disproved it, so I shrugged and continued my listening. But I never forgot this theory.

AND BRO. I DON'T THINK THIS IS A LITTLE SILLY THEORY ANYMORE

We know that Midnight Burger is somehow different from any other type of time-wrapping, dimension-spinning establishment and one of the biggest changes IS the existence of Effie and Zebulon. "The Paradise Theatre", the arcade and bingo hall (the titles of which I, unfortunately, do not remember) from the new episode - they don't have Mucklewains. No one has any idea what the fuck Mucklewains are and they don't care, which is great, but uh...It doesn't stop here

Even Older Leif knows about Mucklewains. He is not from this timeline and yet he knows them. He also doesn't know about Gloria. Gloria who has a weird connection to the diner. In the finale of Welcome to the Horizon, Leif (OUR Leif) had a metal arm and a leg. Same as Even Older Leif. And like...WHAT DOES IT MEAN.

Casper who spends a century in the diner and becomes essentially immortal, who despite not having any useful skills managed to stay afloat. Ava who managed to figure out THE WHOLE UNIVERSE, LIKE EVERYTHING. Gloria who has a weird connection to the diner. Leif who is the smartest human from his time, who leaves Earth in every timeline, who always founds the diner(or any other kind of establishment like diner). Mucklewains who only present in this one Midnight Burger.

And David who is...I'm not sure yet, but I think we will see very soon

anyways relistening to midnight burger and I forgot abt the whole thing that ava and casper went thru where they were both rlly mad at each other for a while and Everytime I listen to those episodes I feel like there's a knife stabbing me thru the heart. Especially with Ava's "Gloria cooks, Leif makes things, im a genius, what do u do?" speech. Ow.
