Not to bring Jason into everything (I can't help it I love him), but the thought of Batman and Ghostmaker acting like bitter divorcees arguing over the custody of their anti-hero crime lord son is so funny to me. Like plot twist the main reason Bruce is upset about the killing is actually that his baby boy is taking after his asshole ex-husband and not HIM. It's not FAIR.

Jason doesn't have a specific opinion on Khoa, to be honest, but he also notices what is going on between these two and agrees to play along with the whole thing.

How do the older siblings handle the “Eddie Munson Problem”? I would imagine they actually do try to get rid of him at first given Eddie’s reputation but then realize he treats Steve better than any of them ever have.

Well, there is cash incentive.

Richard Harrington still has aspirations of going into local politics one days and he is not going let Al Munson’s son kill that dream. Or kill their son. Richard waves a dismissive hand in his wife’s direction because, “Of course. Of course. Or that.”

Whoever makes that boy disappear gets five thousand dollars.

Claire takes a direct approach. She corners Steve and tells him that Eddie is a drug dealer and a drug user. She tells him about all the scary things that showed up on his toxicology report in the hospital and Steve replied flatly with, “Wow. Crazy. I had no idea.”

“I’m serious,” She says. “You could get hurt with someone like that. Do you know how that would make us feel if something happened to you?

“I fractured my ankle at a track meet once and Dad made me walk to the car afterwards,” Steve replies. “I think you guys will be fine.”

“I’m serious.”

“You know, Claire,” Steve nods to himself because, yeah. Sure. Let’s do it. “How have you felt the last three years? Or, I don’t know. The last two concussions? You have no idea what I’ve been dealing with for years now and – and you’ve never cared so why now? What’s Dad giving you to ruin my life because-“

He shakes his head, “This is not worth it. Like how picking up the phone when the mall caught on fire with me inside it wasn’t worth the effort. Tell Dad you tried really hard, but no. I’m not going to get rid of one of the few people in my life that actually like me.”

Jason takes a different – dumber – approach. He goes in with no plan and no intentions, just took the opportunity when he saw Eddie’s van pulled off on the side of a backroad. He bangs his fist against the side and is delighted that he caught Eddie and Steve.

He threatens to beat Eddie up which is bold to say to an accused murderer in the woods, but okay.

Then he turns around and threatens Steve that he’s going to tell their dad that he was getting high in the woods if he doesn’t keep away from trailer trash, but Jason is fucking idiot because they were decidedly not getting high in the woods. He leaves with an eighth of marijuana and  no closer to five thousand dollars because Steve had just shrugged like, “Okay? Go ahead. Tell him.”

Richie does not participate in this because he actually wants to improve his relationship with his little brother and he was the first person Steve went to after they got Eddie, barely breathing, to the hospital. He saw how shaken up he was and he also saw the bruising around Steve’s neck.

He knows what the bruising looks like. He knows how people gets bruises like that. And he knows that he’s a coward because he could not bring himself to ask a question he did not want the answer to. And he knows Eddie Munson.

Eddie is harmless.

All you have to do is have one conversation with the kid and you’ll see that he couldn't hurt a fly. Richie, however, had many conversations with him when Harrington & Associates took his case on pro bono so he knows just how harmless Eddie is.

He also knows that Eddie spends a lot of time trying to make Steve laugh. Richie has spent enough time in his life making his brother miserable. He's not doing anymore.

You think Dale remembers Timmy? Also, does Timmy call Dale out for his neglect of Dev? I feel like after living with his parents neglect for so long, he wouldn't tolerate that bs

I like to think that he did! Though when it comes to Timmy calling him out for being a terrible father, I can think of four possible possibilities from worst to best outcome:

1) Dale straight up doesn't care as he sees Dev just as an "asset" to him and absolutely doesn't see anything wrong with that. ( I can see this outcome especially if the Dev clone theory is true ) That or he would always change the subject every time Timmy tries to bring out that problem.

2) Dale would tell Timmy that he didn't actually neglect Dev and did spend his time with him when he's less busy ( which is a lie and Timmy can obviously see that ) He probably would come up with more excuses like he already gives his son devices that give him everything he wants, which should be enough to take care of him for Dale.

Though I also can imagine him asking Timmy if he can take care of Dev while he's doing his own thing, which I guess is better than Dale asking Timmy if he wants Dale to hire a human babysitter for his son instead since the Au Pairs isn't good enough to provide care for Dev apparently.

3) Dale took Timmy's words about him being neglectful to his son and promised Timmy that he would try to fix that and be a better father......as long as Timmy is around them.

This causes Dale's relationship with Dev to be rather shallow than genuine, as clearly he's only doing this because of Timmy. Perhaps it would take a while until Dev realizes that as well and breaks his heart further.

4) Dale took Timmy's words to heart and ACTUALLY becomes a better father to Dev holyshit (delusional)

Either way, I can see Timmy being rightfully frustrated with how Dale treats his own son but can't really do much about it due to some reasons, like maybe it could jeopardize his career or maybe he couldn't see a positive outcome for that. He probably would bring Dev out with him sometimes when he could, and try to give him a childhood he couldn't have with his own dad.

okay see this is one of my favorite topics of discussion at the moment because while i wish for these sad old men to be happy and gay married, i don’t think that would be narratively satisfying, at least for me. i’m an angst lover at heart, and the second option feels much more real to me.

going deeper into this, though, i like to think ratchet spent so much time mourning optimus, thinking about what could have been if optimus had lived, if it hadn’t been necessary to revive the planet. the end of predacons rising lives forever in my mind:

“optimus, i didn’t return to save a life, just to lose the one i care most about.”

that right there is the closest thing to anything canon that exists, but i honestly think it speaks for itself. what i actually think, if i didn’t have to pick just one, is that optimus was aware of ratchet’s feelings, and harbored his own and did what he could to express it in small ways, but ultimately could not bring himself to actually tell ratchet, whether that be because optimus thought it would be selfish of him to do so, or because he physically couldn’t (i think a lot about the matrix and all the ways that it possibly inhibits optimus emotionally and the divide between OPTIMUS PRIME and what’s left of Orion Pax).

If it's alright, I'm just curious, do you have any thoughts of your own or theories about Oscar or Ruby or both of them in terms of v10? To add, do you have any theories for the merge and how it will end up for both Oscar and Ozpin? Like will it be a good or bad thing? Sorry if these questions seem vague lol

Of course it's alright to ask! I do have many thoughts and a handful of theories. I'll admit most of them are wishful thinking since there's truly no way to tell where the story will go until it actually happens. But if I were to distill it to the ones I'm most expecting and why, then I'd probably say:

Expansion on Ruby's solo arc that kicked off in V9

Acknowledging the setups (plural) between Ruby and Oscar's arcs

The merge-curse is eventually broken (blame the allusions)

I'll elaborate a bit below.

1. Expanding on Ruby's Arc

What we saw Ruby go through in V9 is very much not the end of that particular plot line, imo. We saw a bit of this in Justice League: Part 2 and the final ep of RWBY Beyond where she talks to Clark and Yang about her struggles a bit. Ruby needs to learn how to both ask for and accept help from those around her so the weight of everything she's carrying doesn't crush her. Especially now when they're down to the wire and she's come back as a resurrected martyr who's face has been used at the centre of the resistance movement she's now helping to lead. How will she live up to the expectations and pressures of that impossible pedestal when she's only a human girl with very normal knees who's barely keeping it together? Also, while I don't know exactly how they're going to address everything she experienced, and I struggle to imagine her speaking about Neo's Horror House to anyone directly... that sort of trauma doesn't just go away once it's over. So I would be very surprised if the effects of it didn't ripple throughout the remaining chapters of the show. Especially when every other member of RWBY has seemingly had the bulk of their main character arcs already. It's long overdue for Ruby to get that time in the spotlight. Which does sort of lead into my next point...

2. Acknowledging the Setups in Ruby and Oscar's Dynamic

For starters, we've got the merge and ascension parallels to address. Ruby and Oscar have always mirrored each other's issues around identity, choice, fear, responsibility, leadership, etc., and this buildup seems to be coming to a head following V9. From Oscar's "I'm just going to be another one of his lives, aren't I?" to Ruby's "What if you could be anyone?", and how the two of them will relate to each other in light of those contrasting - but similar - experiences. Especially with Ruby having just come back from the tree to find Oscar fighting against the merge harder than ever before. But we also have their attachments to each other to sort out as well. Ruby and Oscar have been watching each other's backs in different ways since V5, their reunion hug in V8 was interrupted where no other "pairing's" was, and they were the only "pairing" still to be split up between the Ever After and Remnant. Not to mention that, while they were separated, Ruby was pushed to a breaking point after being shown an illusion of losing Oscar, while Oscar was back in the real world eulogizing about how he lost Ruby. CRWBY doesn't setup relationship parallels and focuses as intensely and intentionally as this without pay off at some point.

Again, while the specifics are nearly impossible to predict, I'm expecting a bit of a Dojo Scene Reprise, heart-to-heart of sorts, and/or, something that puts those attachments to the test. My immediate thought is that this test will finally push Oscar to unlocking his semblance since getting shot, falling from Atlas, being kidnapped, and tortured were all not enough to make it happen. (Although my wishful thinking is that it unlocks in a happier moment, I think that's much less likely.)

If I were to engage in pure speculation on this, my easiest bet is that it will come at the hands of Tyrian. When our Little Prince was first introduced, it was almost as if he was waking from a nightmare of that villain laughing with glee at the opportunity to hunt down a certain rose. And with this being the Vacuo arc with Ruby and Oscar getting a lot of focus, and Tyrian already on the prowl within the kingdom, it would make a lot of sense. The little prince fated to have a confrontation with a venomous antagonist in the desert over his attachment to a rose is about as textbook as it gets. (I could also see it go to Cinder or being delayed until they follow through on the threat of Ruby being kidnapped by Salem, if that's the route they decide to take. But again we'll have to wait and see how it plays out.)

3. Oscar and the Merge

I'm not entirely sure where they're headed with this one between now and the resolution... but I do think the resolution itself will otherwise be a happy one, if not bittersweet. RWBY is a story about breaking cycles, and Oz has been part of one of the longest on Remnant since the very beginning. Pairing that with this show being, ultimately, a happy story, as well as a looking at two of Oscar and Oz's shared allusions, I can only imagine they will be separated by the end.

The first allusions to mention are from The Marvelous Land of Oz. Princess Ozma (aka Oscar) is the rightful heir to the kingdom and next in line to take over when it's time for the wizard to retire. It's very clear that - however this plays out - Oscar is the final incarnation. Typically, when one ruler leaves the throne that's it. They're gone. Oz has fiddled with Remnant's history for countless millennia now in his endless fight against Salem. When the dust settles and it's time for Remnant to rebuild, it should be up to the new generation to take charge without his influence from "the old world" in the mix.

From a Little Prince lens - for those unfamiliar with the book - the aviator (aka Oz) spends much of the story waffling about the little prince he is stranded with in the desert... only to be very sad when his new friend leaves him behind to go home to the stars. RWBY is already subverting this story a bit with Oscar being the one wanting to be rid of his pilot instead of the other way around. If I were to guess how the show will carry this further, it would be that Oz moves on, but perhaps with some lingering attachment on either (or both) sides. Maybe a bit of a "all this time I wanted it to end, but now that it's finally happening, I wish I (you) didn't have to go".

At least that's what seems to make sense to me, thematically speaking. Oscar will be irreversibly changed by these events even if he is freed from the curse, however. There is no question about it. Because that is what the Hero's Journey is all about.

The hero leaves their farm and they fall through a new world. It is both horrifying and exciting in equal measure. And throughout it all they are changed by the experiences they have and the people they meet - both good and bad, within their control and outside of it. And when the quest is finally over, there is grief. Because you are not the same person you were when you left home, and you can never truly return to what you had and who you were before it all happened.

This is also, coincidentally, just what it means to grow up. Which - while not the only one, and certainly not unique to Oscar's arc alone - has always been one of the loudest allegories hiding within the merge to me. We meet and know people, we don't always have a say in how long they can stay and how they change us... and then one day they are gone, but their influence and our memories of them stay with us. And then, as RWBY has taught us since the very beginning, we keep moving forward despite it all.

First kiss huh? If he initiated it, it probably came paired with a pun. In fact, he would be making hundreds of kissing and relationship puns to try and help you catch on to what he's going for. When you finally realize he is asking for a kiss, he gauges your reaction, looking to see if you're up for it. You can be as shy about it as you want, with his judgement eye he can see right through it!  

"Well, if you insist~"

It's a very sweet kiss, and he has a dreamy, almost smug smile on his face afterwards, teasing you a little bit if you look very flustered. Don't be fooled though, the smug smile and teasing are there to hide his own bashfulnes. You don't need a devil fruit to realize it though, seeing as his entire face is bright blue: he absolutely adores you.

If you catch him off guard by initiating first and out of the blue, he buffers for a few seconds before blushing hard and hiding his eyes with his hat, not able to stop smiling all day. You can watch him trying and failing to come up with a pun about it the first minute after.

He'll probably find you at some point during the day to return the favour.

Papyrus

Oh dating manual my beloved...

So papyrus is casually suave and totally swept you off off your feet when your relationship was still completely platonic, but now that you both feel the romance growing... he gets kinda flustered lol. He has no idea of how much natural charisma he has, so now that he wants to impress you he sticks to the book... the Dating Manual!

He meticulously searches for the right place, time and circumstances to have a romantic first kiss to, which we all know means it's highly unlikely to happen anytime this year. He does, however, loudly proclaim romantic expressions of love to you when he deems the time to be right (or on accident) and he is always hiding the little book behind his back when you walk in on him reading it. It is very, very clear that he wants a kiss. Please save him.

If you want him to take initiative, you'll have to make it very clear you are expecting a kiss, *right now*. You read somewhere that uhhhh seeing two seagulls fight over a scrap of bread after having sailed north for at least two hours means a romantic kiss is bound to happen! Oh, if only something that romantic would happen to me...

There is a 30% chance he'll both take the hint and take the step, but when he finally does, well...

If you happen to kiss him somewhat out of the blue, he short-circuits- trembling a little and glowing pink and orange. Tell him he looks like a beautiful sunset and watch him flounder. Will excitedly tell Sans about the whole thing. Multiple times. (Sans is a very supportive bro and is very happy for him)

Blue

Your first kiss with Blue may have been a spontaneous, spur of the moment kinda thing, like many of your adventures with this man.

As he held u princess style in an epic rescue from something very dangerous (you slipped), you aimed to dramatically smooch him on the cheek as thanks. But then he angles his head in an unexpected way and oh my... 

He freezes, eyelights expanding, and slowly becomes completely blue. Before you can apologize, he starts running around the ship with you, holding you tight and loudly giggling as he is overtaken by excitement and glee. You are so sweet he is on an artificial sugar high!

Even if it's not a spur of the moment kiss, it will likely still be up to you, to some degree, to make the first move. It's not that Blue doesn't want to kiss you! Heavens no! It's just, well... He knows that he can miss the occasional social que and he doesn't wanna fuck this up by hurrying you or misreading your intentions, so he just flirts dramatically and hopes you take the hint to take initiative. Just for the first time though, after that he has a free pass and boy is he gonna use it.

The flirts are pretty forward, you can't miss em: things like kabedoning you and looking at you expectantly, or showing up with a rose in his mouth. Even if it doesn't lead to a kiss, he hopes it will make you laugh!

Stretch

With Stretch, it pretty much happened on accident.

You were sitting next to each other, your head against his shoulder, listening to him softly playing some tunes as the sun set on the sea. The boat was anchored, and the others were busy or tuckered out after the long day. It was just the two of you, the waves and a soft melody.

He looked to his right and found your face just- so close to him. You both just kinda studied each other for a while, lost in thought and completely at ease...

When did you start kissing?

His reaction to it is fireworks going off in his head, but definitely the kind that fitted the occasion.  He didn't even take the time to be embarrassed about it, instead just basking in the moment of having you so close.

Red

As flirtatious as this man is, he will pretty much never initiate the first kiss. He'll initiate after the initial kiss for sure, but he has a lot of respec juice and since he knows he's a bit much sometimes, he doesn't wanna overstep or pressure you into something you are not ready for. He's pretty used to being rejected for being crude so might as well let you come to him.

If you are having a rare tender moment, and you initiate a kiss from there... this man will be in the clouds for a few days: very distracted, uncaring even for his more interesting duties and sporting a huge dreamy grin which grows when you are in the same room with him. His brother is worried he's going to melt.

If, however, you decided to kiss him because you are sick of the teasing flirts he keeps throwing your way, he will be VERY smug about it. Also it will not actually stop his teasing flirts. But you do both get a kiss out of it so it may have been worth it.

Besides the tender moment, there is no way to surprise him with a kiss. He is always waiting for you to kiss him. Always ready for a kiss. Bring 'm in, those kisses! A huge simp, this one.

Edge

Edge does, occasionally, take a break. When most chores have been done, someone else takes the lead for a while or when the crew is simply having some down time, dear Edge gets to relax with some tea and a good book as well. And if it is at all possible, he shares these rare moments of downtime with you. 

He usually distracts himself from his crush on you by being busy, so now that he is sitting down and taking his time... he may actually be forced to confront his feelings, at least to himself. After heaving a heavy sigh, he steels his nerves and decides this should be the moment to kiss you. What other times will be as appropriate as this?

Edge takes the time to tilt your face towards him, looking you in he eyes and glancing at your lips... and that's where he reaches the edge of his courage. Luckily, you feel the same, and his set up makes it easy for you to simply close the small gap left to kiss him.  Edge remains quite red the entire evening, but he tries to keep it cool. Please think he's calm and collected and that he doesn't get desperately embarrassed and infatuated upon receiving a single wonderful kiss. He's cool! He's never been more collected!! Don't look at him like that!!!

Razz

Ah the tsundere. Let's see... Maybe after a long tiring day, when everyone save for you and him has finally gone to bed, you find him still buried deep in his maps, clearly trying to distract himself from everything that happened. You softly convince him that the quality of the map may suffer if he keeps going when this tired. You even hug him close and he lets you, just this once. You give him your first kiss to his forehead as he is in your arms. As he slowly turns purple you expect him to turn you away, yelling or mumbling something about you being a distraction. Instead, he simply grumbles something along the lines of "not even doing it properly if you're going to do it at all" as he smashes his face into yours. It's actually very nice, and you guys keep the sweet embrace and kisses up until you decide to leave his little mapping office and go to sleep. He seems well rested the next day, if a little purple, and the crew is blessed with some lovely weather after the heavy rains from the past few days.

He won't do much pda with you after, almost making it seem like he doesn't care, but he only shares this with you when no one can disturb you both.

Cash

May have been a little shit who tried to dare you into kissing him, or to make bets in which you'd have to kiss him if you lost (and he'd have to kiss you if he lost). He didn't expect you to actually accept his dare, especially if you have declined his dares before, but now he's sweating bullets: he likes having the excuse that it's just a joke or just to tease you, but now that you're standing in front of him expectantly he is once again forced to recognize that he genuinely really wants this... and he's so scared to fuck it up. He genuinely believes he doesn't deserve something like this.

He teases you again to divert his attention but you take that as a sign to just get this over with and kiss him. The kiss melts away any doubt he just had, and when you release him he's just kinda standing there, buffering.

You're kinda disappointed seeing no reaction from him. Maybe he did only mean it as a joke... but as you turn away to do literally anything else he finally loads back in and starts asking for increasingly dumb bets and dares trying to get another kiss. 

Bear

Bears first kiss, if given, was probably to calm you down. It was almost instinct: you were upset, and he was already swaying you side to side gently, waiting for the flow of tears to stop. He wants to help, to do more... so he lifts your chin and gives you a gentle but firm kiss on the forehead, as he remembers someone having done for him when he was younger, one of few sweet memories of days long past.

You look up at him with wide eyes, now still, and he notices the crying has slowed to a stop as you watch him in fascination. Neither of you remember who leaned in after that.  

Cinnamon 

Gosh he wants to kiss you. He wants to kiss you so badly!! But he is very nervous to initiate. Is it the right time? The right place? Do you feel the same? He thinks you do, you are always so sweet to him! You help him out when you can! And you are respectful of his boundaries- but oh please take initiative and put an end to his suffering!!

He'll make plan after plan to initiate, even asking Papyrus and Blue for help, only to chicken out for some reason. At some point the rest of the crew gets involved in trying to get this over with, so now if you don't initiate, the way your first kiss goes may depend on them:

Cash would trip Cinnamon into you repeatedly, Red locks you both into a room until you make out, and Razz just straight up tells you to get it over with so Cinnamon will stop nervously tapping his cane on his cabin roof.

How he reacts when you finally initiate depends on your intensity: if you are soft and sweet with him he is blushing hard but mostly just heart eyed, but if you are, *ahem*, intense with him, he pretty much faints in your arms, anime-comedy style. It's very cute ;)

got some interest in my hobonichi from my last post so wanted to share my hobonichi planners from law school and talk a little about them :))

yellow omelette cover was for 1L, josef čapek's doggie and pussycat was 2L, and hiroko kubota's tokyo metronome is my current 3L planner!! they are all the original a6 planner that starts in april 🌸 to keep them clean, i added a clear cover on cover.

i would like to say i am creative or extremely organized but alas, i just use them to write down my hw assignments (otherwise i forget) or daily to-do lists. at the top, i write down my appointments and highlight them in yellow. on days i don't have anything to do, the whole page is blank🙈 as a student, this system worked well for me because i don't use google calendar/notion or any online platform (i don't sync anything to my phone). i think once i start working after graduation, i'm going to switch to hobonichi weeks or a less daunting planner just so i can keep track of my appointments. sometimes a full empty blank page scares me.. like staring into the abyss.....

Hey interest check- if I did like, commissions for This sort Of Character Sheet [X] would there be any interest?

I think the starting price [Commissioner Provides Transparent PNG of character and direction for banner background/colors] would be like 20$? (You can also provide a .chara if you don’t use mods or an MCDF if you do and either provide a pose file or direct on a pose for like, 30$ ish? This is all vague numbers- adding characters would add price obviously 😵‍💫)
