Saw a rough storyboard for the SpongeBob SquarePants episode, "Someone's In The Kitchen with Sandy" online (Co "Storyboard Director" Zeus Cervas' old website) and I decided to give it a go at digitally coloring this. Not only as a way to get out of my still pervasive art block, but to also do more art/studies as a whole! (Casey Alexander also done the roughs for said episode as well_

I don't know, there's something to be said for how season 1 had an issue with employing the Disposable Black Girlfriend trope with regards to Alexa and Mark's grief, and how Tramell Tillman had to ask when looking at how Milchick was written/operated, if Milchick knew he was Black and after that conversation, the writers decided to acknowledge what being Black or being a racialized person at Lumon would look like, and how now, Gemma/Ms. Casey is an amorphous concept and given no motivations or interiority or screen time outside of Mark's grief; grief, which seems more and more to be framed as an inconvenience to the MarkHelly subplot. Idk, it bothers me.

Red White and Royal Blue: Iconic Scenes

The two scenes that in my opinion have made film history.

Alex and Henry lazing around at the lakehouse.

This may seem like nothing special, but note how they're out in the open sunshine, almost naked, in an attitude that leaves no doubt at the fact that they're a couple. Name me another movie or show that shows a same-sex couple in such a relaxed, natural attitude.

They have nothing to hide.

The final scene.

No big revelation, no impassioned declaration, no celebration of any kind.

To world-wide celebrities - Henry, who grew up in castles, and Alex, who spent these last years at the White House - retire into privacy in a simple, small house. They have each other, that's all they need.

This movie is marking a cultural change already now.
