Trademark? :D
I'd also say the shapes! They're simple yet concise and look as if it's from the 2D animation era! Also, the eyes! I love the lil dot eyes you give to some of your characters, then the exaggerated eyes for over-the-top expressions are lovely! Your art looks so squishable :3
WAAAA TY!!!! I try to do good expressions but I feel they're a bit flat/dull sometimes 😭
Early 2000s western animation is def my biggest inspo so I'm glad it shines through!!!!

Adam Sandler's "Leo" was just plain NICE.
It takes a simple, downright silly idea about a talking pet lizard helping the kids of a 5th grade class, and even the long-term substitute teacher herself, with their problems to help bring out the best in them - and ties it into stuff like finding new purpose during a mid-life crisis; all the while constantly sprinkling in so much wholesomeness that with each new kid he visits, you instantly feel the bond being formed. It can feel a bit segmented, but it allows for multiple situations to be covered while giving the audience something new to look at.
Tumblr media
Gotta compliment Adam Sandler's performance as Leo himself here; it's such a cartoony voice, but he delivers with such a commitment that I am never hearing an actor. He gives Leo the sweet balance between his old, tired side and his wise, experienced side that is needed for this story to work. It shines best whenever he has to belt a quick number, though granted that's unsurprising for Sandler. Everyone else, including his own family, seamlessly slip into their roles too.
Tumblr media
The humor quite caught me by surprise too, considering Happy Madison. While the slapstick can get a bit much, and there are one or two truly gross gags, most of their infamous hallmarks are surprisingly subdued. Much of what we get is more observational, or is otherwise done in credit to the characters, such as how Leo name-dropping old movies (which sounds lame on paper) doubles to show how old and behind-the-times he is. It's not like there's some big comedy gold, but there's a lot of little moments that left me smiling and charmed. In general, this film really knows how to establish character with dialogue alone; the snarky, tired comments from Leo and Squirtle at the beginning being a highlight.
Tumblr media
There are some turns near the end that can feel a little forced or half-baked (especially with Ms. Mirkin), but the heart remains to the end and it still manages to finish on the simple note it should. Animation is also pretty standard, but that too is elevated by some smart staging choices and a few scenes that mix up the style.
Overall, while it's by no means a film that *excels*, it sure hit a lot harder than it had any right to, especially from a company like Happy Madison, and they deserve big props for that. Like Leo himself, some much-needed comfort can come from the most unexpected of places.

So, I finished Shido's Palace and... I'm confiscating Ryuji. Yeah. He's mine now. Atlus can have him back if they learn to treat him nicely.
Seriously, what the FUCK was that scene?! What the FUCK is up with Ryuji, a fucking ABUSE VICTIM, getting repeated physical beatdowns throughout the game?! Did the writers just...forget that detail after the Kamoshida mission? And before anyone jumps in with "it's slapstick humor," no it fucking wasn't. Slapstick humor is a single cartoony bonk to the head or characters getting into a fight in a dust-cloud that clears to reveal everyone with toon stars orbiting their heads, Roger Rabbit style. Ryuji getting beat to the point of unconsciousness by his so-called friends, right after almost DYING for them, is not slapstick. It's bullshit.

re: mammon “abusing” fizz felt funny
yeah seeing those stills of mammon cartoonishly torturing fizz it kind of reminds me of how some ppl occasionally get upset over cartoon slapstick characters, like pinky & the brain, complaining brain was “abusive” to pinky.
and it’s like yes, if this was real life and brain was berating and slapping pinky that’d be abusive—but it’s a comedy cartoon. there’s different world rules in most comedies where a slap and berating someone doesn’t carry the same weight as irl bc it’s supposed to be funny. three stooges. tom and jerry. looney tunes. hell just about any sitcom.
and in fizz and mammon’s case the stills were *very* cartoony in an exaggerated humorous, almost delightful, way yet they’re trying to paint it as this awful abuse we should take seriously, it’s yet another conflict of tone this series suffers from where the line between silly comedy and serious drama gets beyond blurred into just straight up tangled and you wind up with mixed reactions from the audience.
I think abuse is abuse regardless, but in a fictional setting, it's a question of absolutely everything around it. Ultimately, is it funny enough and toothless enough to make us not care so much that it's abuse?

Hey why does Dobbington hate Anime and Manga but has works inspired by it and what do you think of the critisisms he has of them.
very, VERY post note (and slightly incorrect or too simplified) version of that answer because it is such a basic one regarding Dobson, you can find it better explained and more detailed in a lot of other places:
Dobson began hating anime and manga for overall the following main reasons: as it became severely more popular for kids in the 2000s, Dobson, who had stumbld upon anime erlier in the 90s before Pokemon etc. could no longer feel as special about himself and his interests as before. In addition I assume he hated that people enjoyed certain types of anime that he simply could not get into. To elaborate a bit as I think it is always overlooked kinda: It isn't that Dobson hated anime in and on itself, as evident by the fact that his work was heavily inspired by it aesthetically (more on that later). But he only enjoyed certain types of shows. And those types were mostly those "wackier" cartoony anime of the late 80s and mid 90s. Slayers, Ranma 1/2, the more whimsical Miyazaki movies, Secret of Blue Water etc. Dobson was never really much an "action" guy, or grittier stories. Frankly, the more episodic a show was, the happier he was with it. Mind you, I don't think it is a bad thing to enjoy such shows, we all have our preferences. But as we know, Dobson was a mental case and if something did not stand up to his (bottom of the barrel) standards, he would dismiss it as shit. Or at least for as long as it did not include lesbians or he got enough shit talked on it so that he had to begrudingly join the chorus. to his "defense" I would say that him disliking certain anime may have also been related to having had bad dubbing experiences with some. I once read he hated Sailor Moon, till he saw the japanese dub as before he had been exposed to an early 90s american dub that supposedly was not very good. Lastly, there is just the factor that as his stuff was criticzd as being derivative of anime and manga, he began hating on it on proxy. Blaming his failure as an artist who couldn't make it in the mianstream on anime having been a shitty influence on him. Instead of, you know, the fact his artistic talents both in drawing and writing were again rather low level compared to other stuff, among other things (such as his failure to keep up steady releases or the interest of people looking his name up)
2. his work was "influenced" by anime only in the sense as that he tried to (badly) emulate the very simplistic cartoony art style of a handful of artists he knew of (particularly Rumiko Takahashi) in his comics and essentially drew newspaper strips but with the humor being the "slapstick" humor he saw in some of the anime and manga he read and consumed. And like many people and corporations in the 2000s who tried to emulate "anime" in style to sell their shit (Like the guys who did Martin Mystery, Kappa Mickey or certain webcomic artists) he failed to get the bigger picture. That anime and manga were not simply enjoyed for the aesthetics, but also because of a general different tone and approach of telling a story (progression, devlopment etc) compared to the average saturday morning level writing we got normally in cartoons. Dobson just tried to draw in a way he thought was cool and believed people will eat up because it was hype back then. But instead everyone else just saw it for what it was: a shallow product with very little (if any) identity of its own. Like say about Avatr-The Last Airbender what you will, it had an identity. You know, lore, world building, internal logic, characters with development etc. Dobson had a school bully bcoming a lesbian after 40 pages and some kid dropping from the sky in some cavemen inhabited fantasy place whose actual name (despite being the title of the comic) was not even really mentioned in the very first volume.
3. I think his opinions are like him: Worthless. Primarily because Dobson's criticism were too generalized. He just "hated" all of anime and manga, ignoring the fact that there are all sorts of different creators, genres, stories etc attached to those terms. It is like if I said "I hate books and writers" because I don't like Moviebob's "Brick by Brick", or I say "All videogames are terrible and videogamers should be gased" just because I have only been exposed to one shitty gaming experience in my life. It is just a display of utter ignorance for the craft of storytelling in itself. And coming from a guy who wanted to be a storyteller, that is bafflign to hear. There are more than a few things one can criticize about individual bad anime, manga, creators or trends within the industry or a fandom. I for example am not a big fan of bland isekais where the story is just that character X lands in fantasy setting and is immediately the most special of them all. But that doesn't mean everything in the genre is immediately trash. It means that I should at least take some time out of my less than busy schedule to see if perhaps there do exist one or two good exceptions. Do my "research". But that was something Dosbon was also more than allergic to do.
So yeah, hope that helps a bit.

Horror Comedy of the day: Army of Darkness (1992)
1300 AD. England is at war between the forces of King Arthur and Henry the Red, and the hordes of the undead roam the Earth. In this perilous situation, a prophecy foretells of a savior that will fall from the sky and fight the evil deadites with the aid of the very cursed book that brought them to life, the Necronomicon Ex Mortis. A classic tale of heroics in the making… at least if it wasn’t for this savior being a time warped and VERY fed up Ash Williams, who’s quite done fighting these very same creatures in the XXth century, and just wants to go home. Yet since the two goals overlap (with the damn book being his key back home), will Ash be up to the task?
If Evil Dead 2 already had a lot of wacky humor, this one goes completely off the rails with some of the silliest of cartoony slapstick a live action movie could get away with, has a general sense of campiness, over the top camera work, flashy yet often POINTLESS acrobatics and charmingly low budget visual effects. But it's biggest quality may be its parodic take of an uber macho character of a loser protagonist. When push comes to shove Ash definitely can kick some ass and shows some marvelous displays of engineering to show he has brains, but he’s not really a role model and is VERY MUCH out of his depth in many places where it counts; somehow being simultaneously a hypercompetent badass who charms the ladies (quite literally) immediately… yet also an idiot who doesn’t really knows what he’s doing or where he’s going in life, often making things VERY much worse in the process.
All of that isn’t to say there isn’t some frightening moments of body horror (some of which are STILL played for comedy), and we can’t ignore that the deadites show some disturbing intentions (and actions) for their women captives. But overall the tone is so much more inclined for absurdist fun it’s no wonder that this movie is what put Ash Williams on the pop culture map.
Tumblr media
The film has at least four different cuts but really only two endings. And while one of them is certainly more depressing than the other (and the rest of the movie in general), I think it does feel appropriate for the character while also being the set up for a sequel that never got made. But you be the judge of that.
youtube
youtube
Also, fun fact: this movie was called Captain Supermarket in Japan. It makes more sense than you think (with Ash being wanting to return to his job at a supermarket and all) yet it also has the effect of making the movie sound even sillier. That’s totally a good thing.

Spoon's Rabelais Collection (so far...)
so yeah I first bought the superb Penguin Classics edition of Gargantua and Pantagruel with the very enjoyable translation by M. A . Screech (it's such a breeze) and it... really made me wanna look into other books and adaptations, especially illustrated editions because I like looking at nice pictures, so I'd look into listings on Ebay...
Giovan Battista Carpi: Gargantua da Rabelais
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gargantua's story freely adapted by Carpi, whose work I know best from Disney comics (especially the Topolino pocket books), but he's worked on some original creations as well. Gargantua irst published in Smack! magazine in 1979 and remained in an unfinished state and later picked up later by the Piú magazine to continue and conclude the story in 1983: this album was published in 1995. There's definitely a feeling that things got a little truncated but besides that, it's a perfectly serviceable little tale, some parts are more faithful than others, but since it's a comic intended for kids, don't expect a slavishly faithful depictions of violence or scatological humour (in that there's zero, only really cartoony mischief and slapstick level of violence lol)
I love it and Gargantua is very cute. Please read it. either in Italian or the English scanlation.
Rabelais Tome 1 and 2, illustrated by Albert Dubout
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
came upon these positively massive tomes by chance and I was just charmed by Dubout's humorous artwork. many of them are quite bawdy, and looking into his other ouvre, I can see why! it fits with the books themes so well, too.
the print quality is superb.
Gargantua et Pantagruel, illustrations by Van Rompaey, 1945
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I absolutely adore the loose inkwork here. it's so full of character and once again, the characters look just delightful. Panurge has to be the highlight, he definitely becomes the central character in book 3 onwards, so it fits that he gets drawn more.

Last Light by Indigosio
Last Light is a scifi comic set in an outpost on the edge of a mysterious and dangerous space anomaly called the Voidhole. The voidhole is believed to contain vast amounts of the substance used to power wormholes, making it the center of an intergalactic arms race— unfortunately, of the many explorers sent into the anomaly, only one has ever returned. The story follows space explorer Daniel Delgado as he works to become the next person to investigate the Voidhole… and he doesn’t care if he ever comes back.
Tumblr media
Based on author notes I think that as the story progresses the author plans to show more of Daniel’s space exploration and character development while isolated from his love ones, so for the purposes of this review I’m only talking about chapter one (the comic is about 100 pages right now and is just getting started on the second chapter). But so far in the comic I really really love how conflicting motives play out in the plot so far. Daniel’s depressing motives are murky and misunderstood by his loved ones, who are desperate to stop him from going on this one-way-trip to who-knows-where and do whatever they can to force or coerce Daniel into backing down from his mission. But other people in this world have their own arms-race-related reasons to want the mission to continue and are determined to help Daniel get there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite the premise I’ve gotta say this comic is VERY funny. The humor is very webcomic-y, has a lot of slapstick and kinda random energy, but the pacing of it works very well! It’s made me laugh out loud. The sillier brand of humor also honestly works really well with the lonelier, more desperate underlying tones of the plot.
Tumblr media
The pacing just in general is really well done— the setup feels well thought out and well executed, there are a lot of little mysteries and little world building details and character arc setups already, it’s a strong foundation and really speaks well for the author’s writing abilities. Also REALLY like the characters and want to see more of them! I’m SO in love with Daniel’s weird old lady mentor she’s SO perfect.
The art is really graphic and cartoony. Sometimes art like this ends up looking kind of stiff to me, and I think there are places in this comic where the art is so smooth that it has almost a clinical feel to it that doesn’t quite always work. On the other hand, there are SO many good poses and panel setups here, several of the characters have really expressive ways of moving and overall I think the art does a really good job of telling the story. I love how the wormholes look!! And I also think the character designs are super super fun, there are some truly goofy character costuming choices in this comic and it rocks.
Tumblr media
Overall this is one of my current favorite random finds on Comic Fury! Feels almost like a little bit of a throwback to the style of narrative webcomics that were popular back in like 2015-16, almost makes it feel nostalgic to read. also I can’t wait to see aliens :)

Midnight Gaming: Serious Tooning
So last night I played Serious Sam 2 past midnight, checked socials later to find.... nothing notable to report. Welp no news segment today.
So when I did my post on the serious sam games for midnight gaming, I felt a bit bad about how I felt about Serious Sam. I know the games are good when you're facing off against tons of enemies but at times, depending on the difficulty, it can either be slow to build up to that momentum with some difficulty spikes now and then or just downright malicious with enemy spawns. And then theres BFE which is just downright bad. So I decided last night to try and delve a bit more into serious sam and try to lock in to a game in the series that i've felt uneasy going close before: Serious Sam 2, a game that repelled me before because of its cartoony aesthetic.
Tumblr media
So I decided to install the game on my steam deck, load it up and had trouble with the graphic settings. Trying to change the resolution ends with me having a black screen and needing to exit the game, I turn off settings like bloom and lens glare because they suck and of course, turn the dialogue and subtitles all off. Yeah similar to Borderlands 3, you can turn off the annoying dialogue which in my previous attempts at SS2 I didnt think to do. As a result I only got maybe halfway through the first world before quitting and never touching it again.
So heres the thing, I may or may not have seen this and forgot about it but apparently in 2021, Serious Sam 2 got an update which added a lot of features, starting a new game will present you with options to change the enemy amounts, allow for combo weapons, sprinting and to enable a radar. This is important because this made playing SS2 a lot more enjoyable this time around. Dual wielding any combination of weapons you want is one of those ideas that make you wonder why they didnt do it more often. Usually its just the pistols that can be dual wield, the vr titles let you do that while SS4 has it locked behind skills. Being able to fire a rocket launcher in one hand with a double barrel in the other for close encounters feels like the most ideal way to play serious sam, combine that with the grenade hotkey which is original to SS2 and you can effectively have three weapons at once.
Tumblr media
That radar that was included in the update is also just a nice quality of life, showing enemies on the radar so you dont have to scan the enviroment for them. Wheres that screaming bomber running from? Right there on the radar pal. I actually ended up getting much further into SS2 this time around compared to my previous attempts, got to the asian stereotype planet before I called it for the night and I felt pretty satisfied. Before I said the cartoony vibes didnt vibe well with me but thinking on it, it actually does fit with the chaos of the Serious Sam series, the colourful hordes of enemies exploding in a color of death, what other genre works better than the one thats most associated with slapstick violence. The main issue was that the dialogue and cutscenes were trying to go for a saturday morning vibe with corny jokes that seem more geared towards children, in a game that contains a lot of over the top violence and gore. Speaking of cutscenes, for some reason the cutscenes played in two windows both overlayed with a green and purple hue. Since i've mostly been skipping them, its not that big of a deal.
So yeah, Serious Sam 2, a very unappealing game for its cartoony look, has now become one of my favourite serious sam games thanks to that update. Its kinda sad that the reception to this led to croteam abandoning any notion of doing any similar to it, in favour of the prequels but now I want a game that matches the chaos of 2 but without the corny attempts at humor, maybe aim for something like the saints row series? Infact, The Next Encounter was kinda like that.
All in all, i'm sorry Serious Sam 2, you were a lot better than I gave you credit, all it required was a few qol features and changes to break through the surface to what was great about you. Like a durian fruit, stench like hell but a taste like heaven. And for you reading this, maybe consider giving it a go too.
Croteam please bring The Next Encounter back. Remaster it or put up a port come on.
Tumblr media
Thats all for today, thank you all for reading. Feel free to leave some feedback or game suggestions. Anons are currently on.

Prompt: Create an animated movie concept about cambrian era organisms attempting to be the first creature to ever emerge onto dry land.
Dry Lands
Tagline: A tale of flopping and floundering
Logline: Shelly (a trilobite with big dreams) and Gill (a perpetually grumpy lampshell) lead a ragtag team of Cambrian sea creatures on a series of hilarious (and ultimately doomed) attempts to become the first land dwellers.
Characters:
Shelly (Voice Only): An optimistic trilobite with a boundless sense of adventure and a burning desire to walk on land. Despite her enthusiasm, Shelly's small legs and heavy shell make true land exploration difficult.
Gill (Voice Only): A grumpy lampshell who reluctantly joins Shelly's expeditions due to their symbiotic relationship (Shelly protects Gill from predators, Gill provides a safe haven for Shelly in times of danger).
Spike (Voice Only): A spiky-shelled opabinia with a dry wit and a knack for inventing (mostly useless) gadgets to aid their landlocked ambitions.
Clam (Silent): A giant clam with surprising strength and a knack for catapulting the others (unwillingly) towards land.
Plot Summary:
The Cambrian seas are teeming with life. Shelly, a trilobite with a head full of stars, dreams of one day venturing onto the mysterious land beyond the crashing waves. Unfortunately, her small legs and heavy shell make even the shallowest beach an insurmountable obstacle.
Determined to be a pioneer, Shelly rallies her fellow sea creatures. Gill, a grumpy lampshell who relies on Shelly for protection, reluctantly joins the expedition. They're joined by Spike, an inventive opabinia with a knack for building contraptions (most of which end in hilarious failures).
Their first attempt involves Clam, a giant clam with surprising strength, who launches them one by one towards the shoreline. Of course, things don't go according to plan. Shelly gets stuck in the sand, Gill lands with a thud in a patch of seaweed, and Spike's "land-glider" invention ends in a spectacular crash.
Undeterred, they try again and again – building hot air balloons powered by bioluminescent jellyfish (which attract hungry predators), constructing makeshift bridges out of seaweed (which get washed away by the tide), and even attempting to ride on the backs of unsuspecting sea turtles (who promptly dive back into the water).
Through their constant failures, the unlikely crew forms a strong bond. They learn to appreciate each other's strengths (even Gill's grumpiness can be helpful in times of crisis) and discover the joy of camaraderie.
The climax arrives when a volcanic eruption threatens their underwater home. Shelly, inspired by their past attempts at land exploration, devises a daring plan. Using Clam's strength, Spike's ingenuity, and the combined effort of all the sea creatures, they build a giant, bioluminescent raft powered by the collective light of the jellyfish.
They don't quite reach the land – the current takes them off course. But they end up discovering a hidden coral reef teeming with life, a new underwater paradise they can call their own.
Themes:
The importance of perseverance and teamwork.
Finding beauty and adventure in your own environment.
The power of friendship, even in the most unusual forms.
Visual Style:
The film utilizes a vibrant and colorful animation style, showcasing the diverse and bizarre creatures of the Cambrian period. The humor is slapstick-heavy, with exaggerated expressions and cartoony mishaps. Land is depicted as a mysterious and slightly menacing place, shrouded in mist and populated by strange shadows (foreshadowing the future evolution of land-dwelling creatures).
Floundering Forward is a heartwarming and hilarious animated adventure that celebrates the spirit of exploration, the power of friendship, and the beauty of the underwater world, even if the land remains just out of reach.

OUT OF CONTROL
OUT OF CONTROL was made by a WELCOME TO DOOMTLIS alumni, and it shows…remember that thing I said about spheres of influence? Yeah. This is WELCOME TO DOOMTLIS but like, as a Trollventure. Or something. I think that’s the premise. To be honest, every single time I see this comic I think of the song by Oingo Boingo called “Out of Control,” so that’s what I primarily associate with it. Perhaps that’s intentional, perhaps not. We’ll see, won’t we.
Yeah this absolutely has that same off-the-wall-but-also-very-sincerely-trying humor style that was contained within WELCOME TO DOOMTLIS, I see the resemblance already. Like, seriously, it’s like how the humor is paced. Here’s some weird eyeballs poking out of the sewer like It, oh it’s actually everybody’s favourite clown, WACKDONALDS, don’t trust it because IT, okay here’s a coupon, you almost fall for it but you didn’t, etc., etc.
AHHHHH, I see a Minami cameo, and this what I mean by “spheres of influence.” It’s like how Regionlocked is 100% by the people who brought you Karkat Goes to a Convention or how Burning Down the House is created by a Vast Error Alumni, or how BIG AND MOOD WEBCOMIC had SuperEgo Cameos. Spheres of Influence, I think, run deeper though, and it’s more like, a statement of personal taste? Obviously, it’s a statement of personal taste, but like. There are schools of thought to how a Fanadventure SHOULD be run. Do you want to just explore the more mechanical aspects of a Fanadventure? Are you more focused on characters and cool cutscenes? Making your Blorpos happy/depressed? Showing how terrible and messed-up a society like Alternia would actually be like? Making a Cartoon out of the typical Homestuck formula? All valid options to take, and each one saying something about its creator. And thus, of course creators would flock and be involved in similar productions, so this isn’t anything new or revolutionary. I don’t know. Just something I’m thinking about whilst reading this Fanadventure.
Like, but there are obvious differences in the ambitions and scope of each fanadventure, it’s not like every fanadventure is trying to be the same thing even if there’s a sphere of influence they are in, right? Regionlocked is trying to be a fairly bog-standard author(?)-insert Fanadventure, whilst Karkat Goes to a Convention is trying to SAY something about the fandom. They’re in the same sphere, they just aren’t exactly trying to do the same thing, but they do have similar influences. Like Out of Control, to pick the example that ostensibly these notes are about, is more about cartoony action and slapstick rather than the more detailed, grandiose whimsicality of I’m Good, I’m Gone, and yet I can see an obvious influence here, besides just the obvious cameo. But I would compare the pace of things to not just Welcome to Doomtlis, but also Desynced and Vast Error. All of those, higher ambitions, those more accessible moves. People having flashbacks about how messed up their childhoods were. Thing being stated outright. It’s different, sure, but is it better or worse than perhaps a more subtle approach, when subtler approaches are oftentimes missed and misconstrued by the audience? I think there’s no right way to tell a story, there are just ways to tell a story that don’t vibe with me personally. All that being said, this one’s a competently told story, and I don’t particularly care for it, but I DID make it to the end of my allotted reading without quitting out and moving on, so that’s got to be worth something, right?

Lucy: Slapstick, Dark humor, puns, witty humor. She comes from the franchise known as a clown car made by Ferrarri, so lots of cartoony type stuff. But alot of it is like Dark witty punny Addams-esque type humor like Ericka and Drac tend to be into. Sometimes vulgar humor too. Sort of a combination Musical/Toon Lydia and Wednesday Addams and a bit of Zack and Cody. Lilo Pelekai would also be a good example. Jokes as a sign of affection. In general if she's NOT messing around, something is WRONG. Uses laughter and positivity to cope with hard things, but can be biting and brutally honest in her satire.
Simon: He's a bit quieter and less chaotic. Still likes dark and witty humor and maybe puns. Really tends more twoards the Cody in the Zack and Cody spectrum.
Alex: Puns and witty humor. Definitely. No question. Boy is very like his father.
Lily: Dark, dry and witty, similar to her mom. Lots of sarcastic jibes. Sort of a Pete Venkmen "Back off, man. I'm a Scientist" or Dr. Horrible type deal.
@lovelylivelyv 's Jack Nephalem: Dark, Witty, Slapstick, Vulgar, puns, meta humor. I could see him being into all of it. XD Likes to playfully jibe or taunt his enemies as one of the few residents of the Cycle who is pretty sane and can talk. Friendly jokes and jibes are a sign of affection. He's alot like Yakko or Beetlejuice - specifically musical or Toon Juice. In some ways, he's even more wildly cartoony than his parents. Like his dad, SORT of a perpetual smiler unless something's REALLY wrong. Lives by the toon philosophy of "Sometimes in life, laughter's the only weapon we have." And using laughter and comedy to cope with hard things, but can be biting and brutally honest and not afraid to use satire either. Sort of a Fred and George Weasley kind of heroic prankster.

HERES MY IDEA OF WHAT EDD'S PARENTS ARE LIKE
Tumblr media
You can see from their outfits (that I base on the furniture in their house) that they are very wacky-tacky eccentric people
This help them fit in the slapstick cartoony humor world their in
(LINH JOHNSON) Personality fit to be a copy of edd. I like to imagine a gag where her husband would joke that edd is a clone or a test tube baby from the way they just the same. Even eddy would make fun of how similar they are and ed would be confused who who.

(GREG JOHNSON) Personality is that he's the straight man but just because he's the straight man doesn't mean that he dont have hes ✨quirky✨ moments like his wife and son. His vibe is like stu from rugrats

don't want to spoil the rest of this funny comic (:
THEY'RE BOTH WEIRD BUT VERY CAPABLE PEOPLE AND PARENTS
