Lucky me, my favorite Castlevania is in no danger of being adapted by Netflix lol

This is actually a paintover of a drawing I did like 11 years ago. Needed a fair bit of anatomy touchups but the face was still pretty solid.

I have mixed feelings what I recently learned re: Charlotte Aulin being a Belnades.

On the one hand it feels a little creatively shallow to have the hero’s magician friend be from the same clan as the other protagonists’ other magician friends

On the other hand it’s really funny. I suppose that Trevor and Sypha inadvertently doomed their families to be stuck with each other for the entire rest of time. There’s a Belmont? There’s a Belnades! Even the Belmonts’ weird American cousins have the Belnades’ weird American cousins around to bicker/cooperate with. Even all the way out in the year 2035, what do you know, there’s Julius Belmont and Yoko Belnades! That’s six centuries after Trevor and Sypha! One marriage and these two clans just cannot escape each other!

This young magic practitioner is not to be underestimated. She is a descendant of the Belnades clan and already masters very well it is magical powers due to a traumatic past. She is looking for the rest of her clan in Europe. She allied herself for a while with Schneider to defeat Dracula.

it's so funny for gilbert to consider roderich a "pillow princess" in the context of spaus bc you know that antonio is the one who got roderich used to that sort of treatment

so while gilbert activity tries to insult roderich's masculinity or something roderich is just here like "well yes i was lucky to have a loving and caring husband who would move mountains for me if i asked, your point?"

Betrayal

Antonio thinks too much.

So when you call him to zip up your dress, he has had the time to go through an entire loop of thought.

He mainly thinks about you, time, betrayals, sometimes himself. Mostly, he thinks of the cruelty of being tied to you.

In a sense, time was the most beautiful courtesan of all. Always inescapable, perfectly content to twirl in his arms and mark him with kisses but just as perfectly reluctant to acknowledge credit.

Just like you.

Perfectly content to have him pine for you but just as reluctant to do the same.

Perhaps it was madness.

Perhaps it was foolishness but would you pine for him? As he did for you?

Would you stay with him? As he did for you?

In gifting you his heart, was he actually stomping on it?

Unwittingly though he'd fallen, had he fallen to break?

It was a betrayal on your part that you no longer knew enough to answer him, soothe him, comfort him, spoil him and tell him that you only belonged to each other in all your lives but it was just another thing that had marked him with no traces to be credited for.

"You look beautiful" he hums the tune playing outside into your hair, kissing it occasionally as you take the time to admire you and Antonio in the mirror.

You were beautiful to him. As you were in every life.

He was yours. As he was in every life.

You were his only courtesan. As you were in every life.

He kept his end of the promise. As he did in every life.

And it was a promise well kept. As it was in every life.
