One thing that I really loved about the Off-Broadway production of Carrie the Musical was how they handled "Epilogue."

In my opinion, the most impactful part of the show comes when Carrie is about to walk off into the afterlife and Sue walks over to intercept her. I'm reminded of the novel when Carrie stands there unmoving, staring at Sue as Sue sings:

"I felt as though this girl revealed herself to me, and now I know that once you see you can't un-see."

I don't know if it was intentional, but I feel like it was a really creative way of transferring their psychic connection into the visual format. No other adaptation has done this, and it's always been disappointing to me.

At this point in the story, Sue has been irrevocably changed through her experiences with Carrie White and she'll go on to live the rest of her life with Carrie lingering in her mind.

The off-broadway production, while intentional or not, really shines through when adapting this part of the novel and I'm always hoping to see it done again when I watch other productions.

Most of you are prolly aware of my love for six, What you don't know however, is my devotion to another musical, Carrie. This show was one of my first introductions to musical theatre as i was already a massive fan of the novel, and movies beforehand (Fav version is the 2013 Original draft x).

Considering all this, i thought it'd be fun to share some descisons i would make if i was to ever be given the opitunity to direct this musical!

Eve was weak & I remember how those boys could dance would be restored to their original keys and BMP

I would purposefully cast an unattractive actress in the role of Carrie. She is not meant to be this shy, cutesy girl. (2.5:) If i was to cast an actress who had good looks, i would use makeup, or other products in order to make them look unkempt and disheveled. You have to believe this is a girl who is bullied relentlessly and has been heavily sheltered from the natural world, to the point where self hygiene is almost foreign to her.

I would borrow stuff from the novel, and original 1988 production in order to further expand the story. 2 examples of this would be A:Carrie being fully aware of what she is doing during the destruction, only to feel immense guilt later on. I might show this during sue's monologue by doubling this with a montage of carrie walking home, only to stop and break down at some point . B: I would alter some of the music to fit more in line with the full orchestra of the original production Eg; Eve was weak, Dreamer in disguise reprise

I would reinstate the reprise of eve was weak during the destruction. This would bring carrie's change in demeanor full circle if she was to echo the words of her mother, the person she hates most.

Alter the script & staging slightly in order to have the audience sympathize with the school kids more. We need to be reminded that 90% of the show's cast is comprised of minors, and all but 1 of them end up murdered. With Chris for example, an effective way of gaining her sympathy could be to bring the abusive undertones in her relationship with billy, and her father more upfront Eg; Have her hesitate during Alma Mater and Have billly pressure & ultimately force her into pouring the blood herself.

How did Mutant Manhunt Raph end up with the name Raph? Fate? Destiny? Pure coincidence?

this ask got left in the void a long time because wanted to make a comic to go along with it but i cannot get my entire idea properly on paper for some reason >:| so instead i shall ~set the scene~

He was named by the Mud Dogs! Specifically, Mickey was the one to come up with it not long after they brought him in. He was chilling in the living area of their hideout with the turtle tot, now bundled up and clean from sewer grime and having a well-deserved nap. Meanwhile, Leonard and Danny argued over whether they should keep what may very well be some yokai's kid that got lost in New York.

Leonard doesn't want to deal with a toddler running around their hideout. Danny doesn't want to let said toddler go back to parents who were clearly neglectful for letting him be on his own so long that he got a severe infection in his eye, which Danny (correctly) assumes will never heal properly.

And as Mickey stares down at the sleeping turtle, completely oblivious to the argument over his fate, he has a moment of what he can only call interdimensional enlightenment. From the aether of the universe itself, a name comes to him. Mickey feels every fiber of his being resonates with it, as if no other name could ever have been an option...

Ultimately it was Mickey's naming of Raph that swayed Leonard into allowing the turtle tot to stay. Or so he says. He definitely didn't want to keep the kid around for any other sentimental reasons, no sirree

basically, it makes zero sense in the story itself, but i imagine the tmnt franchise gods reached out to mickey's spirit and, as a shell of his past self (lol) as a tmnt iteration, he knew what he had to do

I'm losing my mind over this blocking in "Do Me a Favor."

Here it looks like Sue and Chris are talking to each other while singing: "And we could both give Carrie White a night she won't forget."

Of course, they're actually talking to their respective boyfriends, but their characters are now running parallel and coincidentally, their respective actions are now intertwined in a fast track to disaster.
