This is different- it’s new construction, in Houston, Texas and it’s meant to be a “modern tree house.” So, it’s up on stilts around a 200 yr. old Pecan tree (a pecan tree can live up to 250yrs., so I think a younger one would’ve been better). Anyway, I thought that it was going thru the wall, but they just cut the branches to accommodate the build. It only has 2bd. 2.5ba. & is $2M. 

The home is architecture as art, designed and built by Scott Strasser. Situated at the apex of the First Ward Arts District and American Statesman Park, the house is lifted into the tree’s canopy.

Two wings, one public, one private, are separated by a formal link offering a  view of the tree.

The entrance hall has a central window for a close-up view of the tree.

The public wing is open concept and includes a large, bright living room space. I wish it had a fireplace, though.

The dining area is off to the side of the living room.

And, you can see the kitchen at the far end.

The kitchen is very stark and ultra modern with a low profile.

There is also a walk-in pantry.

The powder room in the public area.

The hallway to the main bd.

It’s a spacious room. 

The en-suite has marble counters.

And, this is the main bd.’s wardrobe.

The second bd. is on the narrow side.

And, the secondary en-suite also has marble.

Off the hall is a large deck.

These decks face the street and feature wood privacy screens.

Under the house is a walkway of black star granite.

Also under the house are 2 carport spaces with storage.

And on the other side of the house is a grassy area. I’m disappointed. The house is so plain, there’s really nothing special about the interior.
