"Oh. My. God."
I poked my head into the living room cautiously at the sound of my girlfriend's voice. I recognized her tone as the 'something has gone disastrously wrong and I'm about to have a meltdown' tone. I'd run to the kitchen to get coffee for both of us, and apparently in that short amount of time we'd encountered a new problem. To be fair, worse things had definitely happened in less time to us before.
"Babe?" I asked, taking a few more steps into the room. Caroline Forbes, my girlfriend and the love of my life, looked up at me, clipboard in hand and distress written all over her face. "What happened?"
"Ugh, the Salvatores happened!" she cried, throwing her hands up in the air. "I'm pretty sure they spent the past hundred years compelling anybody involved with this house, and now that new people are responsible for billing things like electric, water, gas, and whatever else you can think of, I have to deal with them all at once! And that's not even mentioning the home inspectors. And I still have to organize all the heirlooms they left laying around, just waiting to be broken. Or the fact that not a single bedroom in this place looks remotely like something a kid would enjoy living in-"
"Caroline." I'd set down our coffee mugs and now held up my hands as I slowly approached my girlfriend, stopping her spiral before it could go any further. "Take a breath, babe."
"Take a breath?" she cried, her voice actually going up an octave. "I still have to make decisions about our first class, find teachers, figure out curriculum, make sure the house is actually safe, and a thousand other things before we can open our doors, which we're supposed to be doing at the end of the summer?"
"Pft. That's all? Easy."
Caroline scoffed, her eyes practically glowing as a murderous expression spread across her face. If I didn't know her so well, I might've been worried for my safety. Instead, I closed the rest of the remaining distance between us, putting my hands on her shoulders and looking her right in the eye.
"Listen to me, right now. You are Caroline Motherfucking Forbes. You do event planning in your sleep, and I know that's a true statement, because I've heard it. This shit is right up your alley! Yeah, it's gonna be a challenge, and a lot of vampires with lazy habits are going to make it harder. But you love challenges! I've quite literally never seen you happier than when you're taking charge in the middle of chaos and pulling it all together. And we went to Paris for your birthday."
Caroline huffed and rolled her eyes, but I caught her smiling anyway. I grinned back at her, giving her shoulders a gentle shake.
"You are a force of nature, and there is literally no future where you don't pull this off. I'm not a witch, but I know it doesn't exist. Besides, you're not doing any of it alone. I'm here with you, and so are our friends. We're gonna help you every step of the way to get this school up and running. And we're gonna help you when a kid inevitably breaks some precious historic heirloom, and one of them brings home a curse from touching something they should've left alone, and every other situation you can possibly think of. We'll be here for you to lean on."
Caroline smiled. She took a deep breath, then pursed her lips and nodded, more determined than frazzled now.
"You're right. I am Caroline Forbes, and no centuries-long problem the Salvatores refused to deal with is going to get the best of me."
"Damn right."
She laughed a little, then leaned in to kiss me. We broke apart fairly quickly, since we did have quite a few things left to do, but it was enough to have a warm glow working its way through my chest.
I turned to retrieve our coffee mugs, offering Caroline's to her. Thankfully, they were still warm, and she took hers with one hand, picking up a clipboard with the other. Her eyes scanned the page for a few minutes with a critical eye. I just sipped my coffee and waited, knowing I'd need all the energy I could muster for whatever was about to come next.
"Okay... the bills are easy enough to deal with, so I'll get online and set up autopay for that. In the mean time, you're on heirloom duty. Find anything we don't want in the line of fire for kids practicing their supernatural abilities and put it in the attic."
"Yes ma'am," I said, saluting. Caroline rolled her eyes with a smile.
We started off to do our tasks, but I stopped short before leaving the room. Caroline was already buried in a task, but I took the risk of interrupting her.
"Care?"
"Hm?"
"If we get this done today... any chance we can play interior decorator for our task tomorrow?"
"Sure!" She turned around with a bright smile, a slight edge to it that I recognized and that made me immediately nervous. "And then we can deep clean all the other parts of this house that haven't been touched in years."
I groaned. "Do we have to? Can't we hire a cleaning company to deal with that?"
"Not when vampire speed will get it done at least twice as fast."
"But Caroline, there might be spiders." She crossed her arms, and I realized I was not going to win this fight. I sighed dramatically, turning to go back to the task I'd originally been on my way to do. "Fine, but if I see a spider, I'm screaming and I'm making you deal with it."
"You're an immortal vampire with super speed and super strength!"
"Yeah, and I still hate spiders!"
Her laughter echoed in the room and hallway behind me, and I smiled to myself. I loved that crazy blonde tornado of a girl, and although I complained sometimes and would continue to do so, I'd also follow her to the ends of the earth with a smile.

The Day Before ➳ Damon Salvatore x Reader, Part 2.
Synopsis: The reader knows she is dying, and to save Damon from the pain of her death, she makes an extremely difficult decision. However, the aftermath of this decision takes a great toll on Damon and the people who know him. Damon Salvatore x Fem!Reader Platonic!Stefan Salvatore x Fem!Reader Platonic!Caroline Forbes x Fem!Reader WARNINGS: Angst, Death. A/N: This is part two to a one-shot I posted a while ago, this piece will not make much sense without having read it. Masterlist Words: 1,859 Part One
Stefan could tell something was awry the moment he stepped through the doors of the old boarding house. The air inside was palpable, as if every molecule was weighed down with a tension — a stillness that pressed against his heightened senses, thick and unnatural. Damon was sitting in front of the fireplace, his silhouette stark against the warm glow of the flames, though there was nothing warm about this scene. His posture, Stefan noted, usually so full of restless energy, was eerily composed. Too composed. His gaze was fixed ahead, unblinking, the light flickering in his eyes was like a dull echo of something that had long since burned out.
Stefan took a careful breath; he was not sure why, but his instincts screamed that something was wrong.
The blood on Damon’s hands was subtle at first, easy to miss, but it did not take long for the dried crimson to catch Stefan’s eye, it crept up Damon’s knuckles, stark and seeped within the crevices of his pale, illuminated skin.
‘Damon?’
Stefan called out, his voice cautious, wary, like he was approaching a predator lying in wait. But there was no answer. Damon did not so much as flinch, his expression a mask of chilling indifference, eyes as lifeless as the logs slowly burning to cinder before him.
Stefan swallowed hard, the dread inside him growing heavier by the second.
‘Damon,’ he repeated, stepping closer, his shoes tapping softly against the hardwood floor. He kept his voice calm, but he struggled to hide the tension underneath.
‘What happened?’
For a moment, it was as if Damon had not even heard him. He remained silent, his face void of any feeling; it was as if he was not even present in the room—like his body was there, but his mind, his soul, had retreated somewhere unreachable. The lack of reaction was more terrifying than any outburst, more unnerving than any fit of rage. Damon, who thrived on conflict, on drama, was sitting there… deadened.
Stefan clenched his fists, trying to keep his voice steady, but he couldn’t suppress his rising panic.
‘Damon, talk to me. What did you do?’
Stefan’s gaze shifted, once again glancing at the blood-encrusted upon the hands of his brother.
Still nothing. It was as though Stefan’s words were dissolving into the suffocating silence of the room. And then, finally, Damon’s eyes flickered, just barely. He turned his head slowly toward his brother, his movements languid, almost robotic. When he spoke, his voice was hollow, stripped of the usual sarcasm and wit that would linger in his tone. It was flat and mechanical.
‘I did what I had to.’
Stefan’s heart pounded in his chest, his mind racing. That lifeless tone, the vacant look in his eyes—it was all too familiar. He had seen this before. Damon had turned it off. He had flipped the switch, shut down his emotions, locked away everything that made him… him. Stefan’s stomach twisted with dread.
‘No,’ Stefan whispered, more to himself than to Damon. His pulse quickened, the realisation like a slap to the face, stinging and sharp. Damon had turned it off, but why? What had driven him to this point? What had happened?
He took a step closer, his voice firmer now, though his urgency seeped through.
‘Damon, what did you do?’
Damon did not respond immediately. His gaze drifted lazily back upon the flames, as if Stefan’s question was of no consequence, as if nothing mattered anymore.
‘What I had to,’ he repeated, his voice cold and empty, devoid of the fire that usually burned beneath his words.
‘What I needed to. It doesn’t matter now.’
Stefan’s hands twitched, frustration boiling beneath his skin. He could feel Caroline approaching behind them, her presence like a ripple disturbing an already tense atmosphere. He did not turn to look at her, but he could feel her eyes on Damon, wide and fearful.
‘Damon?’ She whispered, her voice soft, hesitant, as though she was afraid to speak too loudly. She took a cautious step forward, her gaze shifting between the brothers.
‘What’s going on? Why—' She broke off, noticing the dried blood on his hands. Her face paled.
‘Why do you have blood on your hands?’
Stefan shook his head slightly, his thoughts racing. He felt sick; unease crawled up his spine in an icy shiver.
‘He’s turned it off,’ he muttered, his voice barely audible.
Caroline’s breath hitched, her eyes growing wide with alarm.
‘No…’ Her voice was thick with fear as she looked at Damon, whose expression remained indifferent as if none of this concerned him.
‘Why? Why would he do that? What happened?’
Stefan’s heart dropped. The pieces were falling into place, but he did not want to believe it. He did not want to accept what Damon’s cold demeanour was screaming to him, wordless. He needed to see Y/N.
Damon stood up slowly, his movements deliberate, his eyes not even bothering to focus on Stefan or Caroline.
‘I wouldn’t wait for her,’ he said, his voice flat, devoid of any emotion as he turned toward the door. Stefan shuddered, it was as though Damon was in his head, maybe he had been. Then his body tensed, Damon's words registering with him; a rush of panic flooded his system.
‘Damon, what did you do?’
He did not answer. Without another word, Damon disappeared in a blur of supernatural speed, the door slamming shut behind him with an ominous finality. The room fell into a suffocating silence once more, but now the silence was darker, heavier with the weight of what they did not know. What they did not want to know.
Caroline’s voice trembled as she turned toward Stefan.
‘What does he mean? Stefan, what happened?’
Stefan clenched his jaw, his chest tightening as dread settled over him. They needed to find out.
The sun was setting as Stefan and Caroline approached Y/N’s home, as they got closer, it became apparent what was wrong, it hung in the air like an unspoken fact, they knew there was only one thing that could push Damon to this state, one event that could force him over the edge. Neither of them wanted to admit what it meant; they evaded this truth so its awful pending reality could not hurt them, but the silence around the house was heavy with foreboding.
‘Do you smell that?’
Caroline asked, her voice shaking as she stepped inside the house, the faint scent of blood hitting her like a physical blow.
The knot in his stomach tightened as they ventured deeper into her house, everything was still and quiet; his senses told him no one was there, but the lingering smell of blood stood in sharp juxtaposition, unmistakable and overwhelming. Every creak of the floorboards, every gush of the wind against the windows, seemed so much louder with the absence of life; it felt like a warning.
The bedroom door was left slightly ajar, and Stefan hesitated, his palm on the handle, before pushing it open.
His breath caught in his throat.
There, crumpled on the floor, lay Y/N’s confronting form, still and cold, her skin as spectral as the moonlight now filtering in through the curtains. Her hair was splayed out across the floor, and her eyes were gently shut, as though she were only sleeping, but the sight was uncanny, they would never open again. Her limbs were unmoving, her chest motionless, and the scent of blood, stronger now, lingered around her like a haunting reminder of what had happened.
Caroline gasped, stumbling back as tears sprang to her eyes. They had already known this, but they did not want to believe it; the confrontation had been too much to behold.
“No... no, no, no...” she whispered, her voice breaking as she brought her hands to her face.
“Oh my God, Stefan…”
Stefan could not speak. He stumbled forward and dropped to his knees beside the girl, his hands shaking as he reached out to touch her. Her skin was cold, by now, the warmth of her vibrant life was long gone, perpetually a memory. His throat tightened, his chest heaving with a deep, aching sense of loss.
Not only was she his brother’s love, but a friend of his own, and he had cared for her deeply. Y/N had made his brother happy in a way he had never known, a fact he was grateful for, but she had also been there for him, her kindness and compassion knowing no bounds.
He stroked her hair and tucked it behind her ear, while a terrible burn at the base of his throat rose and shifted into a choked sob. He realised at once that she must have died alone.
And Damon had found her like this, horribly sallow and confronting.
He must have tried to save her; Stefan’s eyes numbly caught the dried blood upon her lips. He had given her his blood, but it had been too late. The emptiness within Damon’s eyes, the cold detachment—it made more sense now. Damon had not just lost her. This was not just death.
He had failed her.
‘She was trying to leave,’ Caroline whispered through her tears, her gaze locked on the half-packed suitcase on the bed. She was trying to look anywhere but the girl lying lifeless on the hard floor.
‘I think she knew she was dying... and she didn’t tell us.’
Stefan closed his eyes, the weight of this truth crashing down upon him, she had knowingly left without a goodbye. Damon had found her like this. He had tried to save her. And when he was unable, when he finally realised he was too late, it had ruined him. The love he had for her, the hope he had surely held onto—only made this so much worse. Stefan found himself wishing he had been there for him, even if it did not change anything, and he imagined it would not have, Damon would still be gone now.
His chest ached with the knowledge that his brother, despite not being there at the time, would have felt every second of her death because he could not save her. Damon had turned off his humanity because the idea of living without her had been too painful. It had destroyed him.
Caroline wiped her eyes, and her voice trembled with fear.
‘What are we going to do? If Damon has no humanity... Stefan, he’s dangerous.’
Stefan’s fists clenched, and his mind raced. Damon had always been volatile, but this was different. He had nothing left to lose now.
‘We have to find him,’ Stefan said, voice steady despite the turmoil inside him.
‘Before he does something he can’t take back.’
But his words were meaningless, as he glanced towards Y/N’s desolate corpse, Stefan could not shake the gnawing fear, or rather, the fact that it was already too late. Y/n was dead, and Damon had gone with her. He leaned down, placing a soft kiss on her forehead in farewell, knowing full well that he was kissing his brother goodbye along with her.

I've been working on this for an embarrassing amount of time, but i finally mustered the courage to post it! this a gift for @galvanizedfriend , my favorite autor, moot, and dare I say friend, on tumblr! Yokan, I'll never stop saying that your fictions are the only thing keeping me sane at the moment, and they've always been a tiny lantern during some tough periods of my life. I really hope you'll like this little Drabble about Kleve 🙏
DISCLAIMERS: Eve is NOT my character, she's from Yokan's series The Wolf ! also, this is my first time ever writing a fan fiction, and English is not my native language, so please, have mercy.
maybe there's a god, after all.
That's the thought that has been crossing Klaus' mind for sixteen years, every single time he looked at his little girl.
After his experience with Marcel, Klaus has realized that raising a child into his own reflection is not a smart move. In fact, if Eve had turned out like her father, it would've been the very end of the whole human - and inhuman - species. Luckily for everyone, his beautiful princess is essentially the mini version of the only woman who shares the custody of his immortal heart with her: Caroline.
They couldn't be more similar if they tried. Like mother, like daughter.
If it wasn't for some specific details that Eve couldn't have taken from anyone but him, Klaus thinks that people would start questioning if Caroline made Eve by herself, without the contribution that is usually required to create another living creature.
That, is all him.
Even if he's quite proud – and grateful — about how Eve's turned out just like her magnificent mother, Klaus can't help but smile when he witness the appearance of one those details he mentioned before: the fondness for art, the passion for swords duels — a voice in the back of his mind reminds him of something Caroline said about this specific factor, "it's called fencing, Klaus. You don't need to kill your opponent anymore to prove your victory." or something along those lines — the constant presence of dark humor and sarcasm in any of her conversations, and her gigantic, stormy blue eyes that are accompanied by a pair of dimples and a wicked little smile whenever she got something on her mind.
Something that Eve clearly hasn't taken from him though, is her way of showing emotions. Just like his wife, Eve wears her emotions like a second skin, which leads to her being a terrible liar. If she's happy, then the room will light up as soon as she enters it, and everyone can't help but be drawn to her joyful behavior. On the other end, if she's feeling sad, angry, or any other kind of negative emotion, then... Well, she would keep her mouth shut and open it just to make salty remarks, keeping an annoyed — yet adorable, if you ask him — little pout on her face.
That's how Klaus knows that something is wrong.
As soon as he sets foot in the compound, he's greeted by a very common view: Freya and Eve, sitting around the table of the living room, reading and chanting spells.
Normally, Klaus would walk towards them just to make them aware of his presence and to steal a kiss on his daughter's cheek as a brief salute, but he soon realizes that Freya is the only one writing down something in witch gibberish, while Eve is just quietly looking at her aunt, with a frowned expression all over her face.
His little wolf is so caught up on Freya's doing that she doesn't notice him until he's behind her, trying to understand what kind of spell his sister is casting, with a hand gently touching her shoulder. Eve tenses up at the touch, turning her head to look at him almost as fast as a regular vampire. As soon as she sees him though, she relaxes a little bit, offering him a tight lipped smile.
"Hey, Daddy," she says, voice so quiet and hoarse that he probably wouldn't have heard her if it wasn't for his vampirism. " 'm sorry, didn't hear you coming in."
Hearing Eve talking with such a tired and low tone makes his heart explode with concern. She's pure sunshine, his daughter, this cloud of negativity does not belong to her. Nonetheless, he tries to mask his thoughts with a tight lipped smile, looking down at Eve, "Don't worry, sweetheart," He says, moving his eyes to his sister, who hasn't left hers from the grimoires spread around the table even as he introduced himself, "Freya, care to explain what's happening or do I have to guess?" He asks with a tone that indicates nothing but irritation.
Klaus arches his brows in confusion, his gaze switching between Eve and Freya, as to ask for one of them to elaborate what he just heard.
Freya finally looks up, if only to send him a not-so-friendly glare, but before she can snap right back at him, Eve takes word, looking at him like she's about to have a nervous breakdown "Apparently, I'm on house arrest until the Jury," she indicates Freya with her eyes, before turning her attention back to him, "tells me otherwise." She concludes, and the exasperation of her tone is almost touchable.
It's Freya the one that, with a sigh, steps in. "Some witches have been messing around with a kind of magic way too difficult for them to understand, leading to an imbalance that covers all New Orleans." She explains, rubbing her hands on her temples. "Long story short: right now, every witch in New Orleans is having trouble controlling their magic, especially the younger ones like Eve. In addition, being the tribid gives her an enormous amount of power which is hard to control on a good day, so it's better if we keep her under control, in a limited and safe space."
Eve rolls her eyes as soon as Freya concludes, shifting her position to show him the magic-restraining bracelet on her wrist. "I haven't seen this freaking bracelet in years. I thought I was finally free, but no, some dumbass witch thought it was a good idea to mess with something way too big for them to understand, turning me into a fu-"
"Language." Both Klaus and Freya interrupts her, giving Eve a warning look.
she glares at both of them, visibly annoyed.
"turning me into a freaking bomb." she grumbles, looking down at the pages of the grimoires.
Christ, Klaus thinks, he's losing points as the cool parent.
"Dad?" Eve says, looking at him with an arched eyebrow, like she's expecting something from him. "Are you still here? You haven't threatened anyone since you heard of this, and it's more concerning than a bunch of low-level witches messing around." She concludes.
Klaus takes a long sigh, pulling out his phone from his pocket to send a message to Caroline and the rest of the family. It takes all of his willpower to not storm out and look for this gang of inconsiderate witches, accompanied by nothing but his fury, showing them the treatment that is reserved specifically to the ones that put his daughter in a bad mood, but he recognized the fact that this situation is already unsteady, and there is no space for his impulsiveness, yet.
Well, the sarcastic remarks are only funny when they're not directed at him.
"Trust me, Eve, I have lots to say, but none of it is appropriate in the presence of a child." he retorts, switching his attention back to Freya. "I've sent a message to Caroline and to our siblings, they should all be here in about 40 minutes."
Freya simply nods, gathering all the magic stuff from the table. "I'll call Vincent." she stands up, giving a kiss on Eve's head. "I'm pretty sure he's more informed than us at the moment. Besides, another witch would be helpful."
"what am I? a ghost?!" Eve snaps when Freya disappears in her own bedroom. "I can't use magic, I'm on house arrest, this handcuff is back around my wrist and I haven't even had my daily bignets!" she explains desperately, curling on herself, resting her chin and arms over her knees.
Klaus can't help the low chuckles coming out of his mouth, something that earns him a dirty look from his little wolf.
"I'm glad you find my misery amusing. Father of the year, really." Eve says, enunciating her pout even more.
"Not at all, sweetheart. To be completely honest, I would love nothing more than to go fetch those witches myself and show them what happens when someone dares to upset my daughter," Eve promptly rolls his eyes at that, but he sees how she's trying to bite back a smile.
"However, Your mother would eviscerate me if my impulsiveness took place in a delicate situation such as this one."
"Then what do we do while waiting for mom to come home?" Eve says, and truth to be told, patience has never been a strong suits of her.
"Well, I did get that new painting set you've mentioned lately." He says with a grin, observing how Eve's pout changes to a wide smile between record time.
"The pink one?"
"Do you even have to ask?"
"You're the best!" she chirps, jumping from her chair to wrap her arms around his waist, the bad mood evaporating completely from her body. Klaus can't help but smile when he looks down at his daughter, holding her close to him. Oh, how he wishes time would stop, just to remain like this for at least a decade, with his little girl safe, sound and happy in his arms, where no bad intentions can reach her.
"Come on, sweetheart," He says, grabbing her hands "let's see if those colors actually blend on their own." he concludes with a wink, leading her towards the art studio. He knows this happiness is going to be short-lived, but the least he can do is to keep Eve's mind occupied, distracting her from the stress of this situation. As he enters the room, Klaus notices that he's running out of dark red acrylic.
Well, it appears those witches are going to be useful, after all.

Hi!
If you feeling like it, could you do a one shot in which Klaus and Reader have been together for a long time and love each other but when they move to Mystic falls Reader can see and feel Klaus distancing himself and crushing over Caroline?
Like he would start spending more time trying to get her attention and watching her, while putting his missions and schemes over Reader. She sees that his sketches are less about her and more about Caroline and she feels alone, heartbroken and ignored. Then she hears Klaus tell Caroline the same confession that he told her when they got together ("He is your first love, but I intend to be your last") and she runs away to collect her things from their shared room.
But what she doesn't know is that it was all a plan to make Caroline fall in love with him and tell him the plan of the Salvatore. At the end Klaus finds put about her missing and search for her but she is scared that now that he doesn't love her anymore he will hurt her to keep her mouth shut about the secrets that she knew so she goes on the run.
The ending is up to you ofc. Thank you!!
I'm not the only one
Pairing: Klaus Mikaelson x reader Summary: You and Klaus have been together for ages. You swore to each other Always and Forever. You could always rely on him, and the original hybrid trusted you with his plans. But how long can you turn a blind eye to his sudden interest in a certain Caroline Forbes? And after hearing him say the same words to her that practically started your relationship, you realize that maybe after all, you're not the only one for him. Warning(s): angst - because I'm having a terrible week and I needed to get rid of these negative feelings, Klaus cheating (kiss), broken reader, little comfort at the end because I don't like sad endings. Nonsense from me: I hope you like it! World count: 6,2k
You and me, we made a vow For better or for worse
You and Klaus have been together for a very long time. You stood by him as you built the might of New Orleans together—a safe home, a haven—until Mikael showed up and sent everything to hell. Despite this defeat, you were still with your beloved, escaping with him from his cruel father and trying to defeat Mikael once and for all. His siblings were like family to you (even though you never formalized your relationship). You've been Klaus' fiancée—kind of part of the family—but he could still get rid of you if he wanted at any time.
But you tried not to worry too much about it, knowing full well that Klaus didn't want to expose you to the wrath of his enemies and the special attention of his father if he married you. After all, you were still an ordinary vampire. A simple heart rip, a werewolf bite, or a wooden stake through your heart could kill you very easily and quickly.
You didn't need to make it official. His love and devotion were enough for you.
But since your arrival in Mystic Falls and (finally) breaking his curse, your relationship has started to sour.
Things between you two changed when certain Caroline Forbes showed up on the picture...
I can't believe you let me down But the proof is in the way it hurts For months on end I've had my doubts
One day Klaus' full devotion and love for you shone bright and uninterrupted from him, and the next day he completely ignored you, spending the entire fucking prom with that blonde bitch. The merciful, compassionate look from Esther and the Mystic Falls gang was the worst feeling you've felt in 300 years.
But you tried to justify his behavior when it turned out that his mother really wanted to kill them all. You thought he had distanced himself from you and turned his attention to this young vampire to protect you from Esther.
However, a few months later, when he completely lost interest in you, he stopped texting you during the day, and you fell asleep before he came home and got up when the bed was cold on his side (sometimes you even doubted he was coming home at all), and worst of all, his sketches were all about sweet Caroline—you began to have serious suspicions that he was doing all of this for "your own good".
Sarcasm completely intentional.
Of course, Elijah tried to explain away his brother's attitude, but you knew better. If Nik really cared about you, he'd be communicating with you about more than just the magic cure for vampirism that he had to get for Elena.
Even that fucking doppelgänger and her bodyguards talked to him more than you, his (probably now in name only) fiancée.
Denying every tear I wish this would be over now But I know that I still need you here
You sighed, folded your napkin, wiped your tears, and got up from the table. You blew out the red candles that had practically burned out and left the dining room, leaving the 300-year "engagement" dinner with Klaus on the table.
You went to the kitchen and took out of the fridge a bottle of wine specially chilled and stored for this occasion, from the exact year you met. You slowly walked up the stairs. The sound of your high heels hitting the marble steps echoed through the empty mansion, mocking your loneliness.
As you walked down the hall towards your room, you noticed that the light was on in one of the bedrooms. Without thinking, you entered the room of your favorite original and leaned against the door frame, watching with amusement his attempts to use the phone.
"Fuck. Stupid mortal device." at one point, the man turned on the flashlight, blinding himself. "WHAT THE BLOODY HELL?!" I burst out laughing as Kol fell off his bed. He looked around the room in surprise, blushing with embarrassment when he saw that I had witnessed this compromising event.
"Kol Mikaelson. The terror of the living and the dead, the deadliest and most dangerous of the original vampires, was defeated by the flashlight on his phone. Rebekah won't believe me when I tell her."
"Very funny. Shouldn't you be fucking my brother today on your anniversary instead of standing here and torturing me?" he muttered, getting up off the floor and brushing off the invisible dust.
"Apparently he has other priorities. Should I be worried you wanted to eavesdrop on us?"
"Don't flatter my brother. We both know I can hear better sounds from you if you'll let me. Besides, I'm not a weirdo. I was about to curl up the moment I heard the first sound of danger."
"Every day, I consider your offer more and more. And I seriously doubt Klaus will hold a grudge against you after that."
"Wait a minute. 200 years ago, you said you'd rather be celibate than sleep with me, and Nik threatened to castrate me with a rusty shovel. Is it that bad between you two?"
"Come on. It's great! That's why, on one of our most important anniversaries, I'm standing in his brother's room." you groaned, trying to hold back the tears welling up in your eyes.
You were so weak and naive, still only wanting the company of a man who hadn't said a single word to you in months that wasn't related to his plans.
"Okay, I understand... wait. What's this? Can I see tears? All right, that's enough of this. Get your ass up and let's go drink and dance. Now that you've dressed up, we'll make good use of your short, sexy dress. I heard those pups from the Mystic Falls gang are having a party at the Salvatore's house. Let's make a mess, darling!" he tried to comfort me by pulling me into a tight hug and evoking any sort of giggle.
"That's why you're my favorite. But don't even think you'll get a sip of this wine." I said with a half smile, trying to somehow appreciate his attempt to cheer me up.
"Don't blame me. I had to try, darling. Now go fix that mesmerizing makeup, and I'll see you downstairs."
You say I'm crazy Cause you don't think I know what you've done But when you call me baby I know I'm not the only one
Salvatores may have been a pain in the ass, but they knew how to throw a party. It was child's play for Kol and you to get inside and empty their liquor cellar. You laughed and joked until another couple showed up at our hideout.
You sat hidden among the barrels so that you had a view of the stairs leading up. At their feet stood probably your least favorite couple...
"Why did you just let Tyler come to the party? You're not going to tell me there's a heart in that empty space near your lungs?"
"Calm down, love. It's your birthday. You shouldn't be nervous."
"I get nervous every time I see you. Now. Tell me, what am I supposed to do to repay you for bringing my boyfriend here and letting him stay at my party? Because I don't believe you did all this out of the kindness of your heart and you don't want anything in return." she said suspiciously, crossing her arms over her chest.
"I want nothing, love. Consider it a birthday present." he replied nonchalantly, shoving his hands into the pockets of his suit pants. He didn't even wear those smart suits on your birthday; he hated them. You don't know if it was because he felt like a second Elijah in them or because he was used to his henley. Apparently, SHE was worth sacrificing a bit of his comfort.
"You already gave one to me. Actually, a lot. What's all this Klaus for? Why do you try so hard for me and make sure I have a wonderful day, only to bring my boyfriend back at the end of it?"
"He's your first love. I intend to be your last. However long it takes. Until then, let me spoil yourself. Seduce in all the ways you ever dream of." you felt as if the whole world stopped for a moment around you as you heard the same enchanting words coming out of his mouth to her that he had used to convince you to run away with him 300 years ago.
"Seriously? This goes against all the rules of flirting, without even mentioning that you already have a girlfriend."
"Y/N? She's only my minion. A person from dirty work. She imagines something more about us, and that's it. I never loved her. Not the way I care about you, Caroline." sure, go ahead. Go all out. Kiss and fuck against this wall. Anyway, your heart is already dead.
"Klaus I..." the blonde shook her head, staring in shock at the hybrid with a small disbelieving smile. Klaus walked over to her, taking her hands in his. Their mouths were centimeters away from joining in a kiss right in front of your eyes.
"Care! Where are you?! It's time for cake!" the screams of her friends saved you from watching the love of your life kiss someone else, adore someone else, and give his heart, his lips, his eyes, and his touch to someone else.
You could only watch silently as Klaus offered her his arm and helped her up the stairs. Always a gentleman… at least when he wanted something or expected something in return.
There was dead silence in the room. You could feel Kol's sympathetic gaze burning a hole in the left side of your head.
"Y/N, he didn't mean..."
"It's okay, Kol. I've got ears, a brain, and pretty good eyes. I know what I saw and heard. I think that's enough fun for today. Thanks for trying to make me feel better." you cut him off, seeing panic instead of surprise in his eyes. So his siblings knew everything... that's probably why Rebekah left without saying a word.
"No! Y/N, wait! You don't..." before he could say anything else, I ran out of there at vampire speed.
"Shit. Klaus is going to kill me." a man said to himself after she disappeared.
You've been so unavailable Now sadly I know why Your heart is unobtainable Even though Lord knows you kept mine
Honestly, you should have known it would end like this. From the beginning of your relationship, a swarm of girls followed him wherever he went. But then he only saw you.
"I don't like it here." I snorted, eyeing the werewolf bitch who had been fawning over Nik since the party started.
"Here or her, love? It may seem that one letter means nothing, but as you hear, it changes the whole meaning of your statement." the original snorted, throwing his arm around my shoulders and pulling me into his possessive grip.
"None of them. Did we really have to throw this ball?" I complained, catching the lady werewolf leader's eye and kissing Mikaelson greedily to "mark my territory in front of that bitch." I pulled away from him as a smug smirk began to form on his lips, interfering with my ministry. "Why are you smiling like that? What's so funny?"
"For the first time, I see jealousy on your beautiful face. I have to admit it's a nice change."
"Please, as if half the women in the world aren't already trying to take you away from me. One puny wolf cub poses no threat to me, much less arouses my jealousy."
"Of course. So kiss me again. Just in case she somehow didn't get the message."
I snorted, pulling him to me by his necklace, and biting his lips to the blood. I licked my mouth as I climbed onto his lap and straddled him. I ran my hand through his hair and started leaving small kisses along the column of his throat.
"We're in public, love." he purred, wrapping one hand around my neck and pressing down gently. I growled, biting into his skin and taking a few gulps of his blood.
"And when exactly did it ever bother you?" I whispered, continuing to mark his skin. I smiled mischievously as I saw shivers run through his body.
The moment I felt his own fangs glide against my neck, I moved away from him at arm's length. I smiled victoriously at his annoyed look.
"What happened with being in public thing, love?"
"Who could resist such tempting beauty and strength? Definitely not me." he growled with a smirk, grabbing me bride-style and moving us with vampire speed to his room, specifically his bed.
"Elijah will be furious with us if we disappear again. Your werewolf friend is unlikely to be pleased with the lack of your wonderful presence either." I moaned as he started tearing off my dress.
"It's a good thing I don't care about any of them now. I'm yours. Only yours, my queen. And you're mine. And I will be proving it to you for always and forever."
You should know that one day you will fall from his pedestal.
You say I'm crazy Cause you don't think I know what you've done But when you call me baby I know I'm not the only one
I felt sad, to say the least. And a bit lonely.
For a month, Nik had become... colder, more distant. It started with us no longer having dinner together. Stupid observation, I know, but I couldn't help but miss his presence. He disappeared somewhere, fighting with the Salvatore brothers for Elena's blood. I understood his need to create a hyrbyds—someone like himself, his own pack that wouldn't leave him—but that didn't mean he had to do it alone. I could help him. I always helped him. However, my role began to be limited to guarding his hybrids and his sister.
Then he stopped writing to me. He could go all day without speaking to me, which was starting to worry me, so like any normal person, I decided to talk to my partner about my concerns. I just forgot that there is no such thing as normal between me and Niklaus.
"Love, don't you know how many things I have on my mind? If I had to write to you every second of every day, I would never have achieved what I have. Don't be a child who demands constant attention, you know that I love only you. There is no other woman whose arms I would rather return to every night."
I felt stupid. Like an oversensitive madwoman who needs to be in contact with her beloved 24 hours a day. But over time, he even stopped coming back to our bed, and if he did, it was so late that I had already fallen asleep. Sometimes the smell of his perfume left on his pillow was the only contact I had with him during the day.
So I made him a real jealousy scene. But that only made me feel worse than before.
"Y/N. My light and life, you know how much I care about you. If it were up to me, I would never leave our room or your delightful presence. But you can't reproach me or make unreasonable scenes of jealousy when all I'm doing is keeping our family safe. I thought you could go a few hours without my wonderful presence? Besides, do you think that when I'm away from you, I don't spend a second thinking about you? You are with me, in my mind and memory, always and everywhere, but I cannot let myself be distracted and forget about my main goals to succumb to your captivating beauty. I'd be lost in you forever, forgetting what I have to do."
He could make me feel real remorse, but subconsciously I felt that something was wrong with all of this and that he wasn't telling me the whole truth.
He adopted a different tactic. He gave me some of his responsibilities, which kept me busy for half the day. Not that I missed him any less.
My suspicions only increased after I discovered a large number of sketches by another woman, the same woman he'd invited to his mother's damn ball, in his art room. However, I decided not to do anything about it and wait for the situation to develop.
I was tired of hearing that I was crazy.
I have loved you for many years Maybe I am just not enough You've made me realise my deepest fear By lying and tearing us up
Maybe you've been crazy and still madly in love with a man who's clearly been using your love and sincere, blind devotion all this time, but that doesn't mean you'll watch him slowly give himself to another just to stay with him just a little longer. You still had some dignity.
Besides, you had to leave. You saw what Klaus did to people he no longer needed. If he was capable of disposing, compelling, and torturing his minions, what will he do with you, the woman who knows all his family's darkest secrets, when he no longer needs you?
You had to run as fast and as far as possible.
If you're lucky enough, you'll cross the US border before he realizes you're gone. Maybe you'd even join Katherine? She was always sending silly postcards and postcards from pretty places to encourage you to run away from the hybrid. Now seemed like the right time to join her on the journey of a lifetime.
Despite your rational, cool approach to the situation, you couldn't stop your stupid tears from spilling out of your eyes as you packed all the necessities into your suitcase.
It took you an hour to recover from seeing a 19th-century photo of you and the Mikaelson family. You did it in New Orleans, right after you took over the city completely. Marcel stood with a big smile, embracing an equally cheerful Rebekah from behind. Elijah was holding Kol by the shirt so he wouldn't accidentally pounce on the human-photographer, and you and Klaus stood side by side, staring at each other with so much love in their eyes. Your big diamond glistened on your finger under the light of the lamps.
When did it all go to hell?
You stuffed the photo frame into your suitcase and slammed it shut with a bang.
Before you went downstairs, you stopped by his art room for a moment. With a sigh, you took one last look at all the old portraits he had painted, and after finding a piece of paper, you left a message on his latest sketchbook dedicated to HER.
It was a fun few centuries together, Klaus. But I knew I would never be the only one for you. Love and hate, Y/N P.S. You can give her that.
The ring you've worn for 300 years laughed at you, glowing in the glow of the street lamps as you left him on the note.
Without thinking twice, you ran out of the house and loaded your bags into your car. You cast one last longing glance at the house before getting into your car.
You angrily wiped away the tears that kept you from seeing the road ahead.
You knew only one quick and effective way to get rid of your unwanted, desperate emotions, but would you be able to do it? Stop feeling anything?
On the other hand, what was stopping you from doing it? You had nothing and no one in this world anyway.
You say I'm crazy Cause you don't think I know what you've done But when you call me baby I know I'm not the only one
"Is he cheating on me?" Rebekah spat out the wine she was drinking in shock and started coughing. After she had relatively recovered, she started staring at me like I was crazy.
"What?"
"Your brother. Is he cheating on me?" I repeated, sipping my own wine and staring blankly at the fireplace.
"Nik?"
"No, Elijah." I snorted, tucking my legs under me.
"Are you crazy? If one thing is certain about my brother, it's that he loves you madly. What in the bloody hell made you think otherwise?"
"Let's see… he avoids me, spends his days with God knows where and with whom, and hired me as a personal babysitter for his hyrbyds and a searcher for new werewolf packs, of course, from a distance, because even though he treats this damn house like a hotel, he makes me stay in it like a ghost in a fucking crypt! I'm sick of this, Bekah. I know he's hiding something from me. Okay, he may have secrets and plans of his own that he doesn't want to tell anyone; he has done it before. But this time, he's crossing the fucking line." in my frantic speech, I didn't notice that I was swinging my glass from side to side, spilling its contents onto the couch. I sighed, not really caring. It's not like Klaus would notice. He would have to stay here for more than an hour first.
I staggered to the bar to pour myself another glass, but Bekah's gentle grip on mine stopped me.
"Maybe we've had enough of this wine, eh?" she asked thoughtfully, taking the glass from me and placing it on the bar. Seeing tears welling up in my eyes, she pulled me close to her and started stroking my hair reassuringly.
"What have I done wrong, Bekah? Why doesn't he love me anymore?" I asked, sobbing, letting myself let out all of the stress and helplessness I'd felt for months.
"Shh… it's okay, darling. Everything will come back to normal, trust me. Just be a little more patient."
"Rebekah! Y/N! There is a way to make Elena human again. We can have our hybrids back! Of course, we will have to modify our plans a bit. We can't have a repeat of what happened last time. Caroline told me… What happened, love? Are you crying?"
Klaus suddenly came back and walked over to where the two of us were cuddling. He looked at me clearly distressed, but he didn't seem to notice that my sobs only increased after hearing HER name fall out of his lips.
"It's nothing, Nik. We got a little drunk, and now we're more sensitive, aren't we?" Rebekah thought on the spur of the moment, stepping away from me. I just nodded my head, falling into the hybrid's open arms.
Ironically, the man who had driven me to this state was the only one who could comfort me in any way.
"I got you, love. Let's take you to our bedroom."
He took me in his arms, slowly carrying me upstairs. Along the way, I couldn't help but wonder if I was the only one he called "love"?
I know I'm not the only one I know I'm not the only one I know I'm not the only one
Third-person's POV
"KOL! How could you take her there?!" the hybrid screamed, throwing another bottle of scotch he found in sight at his brother.
Klaus found a note left by Y/N. So was their empty bedroom, stripped of her belongings. The lingering scent of her perfume was the only trace that she had once lived here.
And he was furious with his brother. The dagger and white oak powder were safely tucked away in his pocket, and he was just waiting for the right moment to punish his brother. He took you right into the middle of his plan to seduce Caroline to get the information he needed. Kol sat her in the goddamn, fucking front row so she could watch him fawning over another woman while Klaus was only thinking of getting this whole Mytsic Falls fiasco over as soon as possible and holed up somewhere with his love for a well-deserved holiday.
Now he couldn't.
She disappeared.
And he had an insatiable lust for murder. His brother will be in that bloody coffin, where he belongs, by tomorrow.
"I wasn't the one of us who came up with the brilliant plan of chasing some blonde while your girlfriend was pining for you, you criminal genius!!" Kol shouted back and threw one of his brother's paintings at him.
If he was going to die today, at least he would defend himself to the last breath. In fact, he knew the worst thing his brother would do was put him in that fucking coffin. Unless he can survive long enough until Elijah returns.
"You know perfectly well that I did it to protect her! She is an ordinary vampire; any stick can kill her! Thanks to my false interest in Caroline, I killed two birds with one stone. I kept Y/N safe and could extract the information I needed. But she wasn't supposed to know anything until we left together! AND BECAUSE OF YOU, SHE'S NOT HERE!" he growled, attacking his brother. He lunged at the younger vampire, pinning him to the ground and trying to pierce his heart with his dagger. Kol, however, tried to defend himself and did his best to keep the blade away from his chest.
"NO! Nik, wait! I can help you find her; we'll take her back to you; just don't do this to me! I can't come back to this coffin, please, brother!"
"You've done enough."
"NIKLAUS!" Kol breathed a sigh of relief as Elijah pushed their brother off him and snatched the dagger from his hand. "You have to calm down."
"Don't tell me what to do, and don't you dare take sides with this traitor! He brought Y/N there on purpose to destroy our relationship! You've always flirted with her, but if you think that's how you'll finally have her, you're sorely mistaken, brother." he spat out the last word with such revulsion that Kol flinched, beginning to feel a real fear of Klaus. "I'm going to burn this damn world to get to her and disprove all the lies you told her about my action."
"I never wanted her for me, she's like a sister to me." he choked out, trying to reason with the maddened hybrid. He had never seen him like this before. He must have really cared about Y/N if he was willing to tear the world apart just to find her.
"It is because of you and your actions that Y/N escaped, and now you must face the truth and accept the consequences of your actions, Niklaus. You can't blame Kol for that. Besides, I don't think Y/N approves of you daggering us again."
"So what am I supposed to do now? She ran away from me!"
"Calm down first and hide that ridiculous stake you're hiding behind your back; none of us is your enemy. We will find her. You have my word."
The hybrid growled something under its breath in agreement and left the room, presumably to hide the originals' doomsday weapons once again. Kol stood next to Elijah, staring at their brother's retreating figure.
"How the hell did he get it?"
"I don't know, but be glad I came on time. When it comes to Y/N, he's capable of doing a lot of things." he muttered, following the footsteps of the hybrid.
"Yes, but he wouldn't kill me, would he? Elijah?! Would he?!" panicked, he ran after his older brother, deciding that until they found Y/N he would stick to his suit jacket like his life depended on it. Which was actually true.
And I know, and I know, and I know, And I know, and I know, and I know, know I know I'm not the only one
Second-person's POV
You've been hiding with Katherine in her family home in Bulgaria for a month now. You honestly doubted it was safe to live in a place so important to her, with Klaus' minions and debtors looking for you all over the world, but you didn't question her methods. After all, she had been running from him for 500 years. She was more skilled than you.
In addition to visiting her hometown, going to various human events, and sunbathing in her garden, you spent your days reflecting on your relationship with Nik. The original left you at least 20 voicemails every day. You didn't complain about the lack of contact between the two of you. Sometimes you listened to part of them, sometimes they ended up in the trash, and sometimes Katherine took your phone so you wouldn't even think about picking up the call from your ex-lover.
But they all said the same thing: "I'll find you."
The vampire tried everything in her power to make you forget about him. However, dating, flirting, and sex escapades with people as drunk as you have not yielded any results. Besides, it ended when the news reported that one of these unfortunates had died with his head detached from the rest of his body. You two still have no idea how Klaus found out (because it was clearly his job), but you didn't want innocent people on your conscience, so Katherine stopped looking for new guys for you.
However, this particular incident was not repeated. None of your one-night stands have lost a life except this one. You guessed that Klaus, in his frustration (he must have had a really bloody day or something), sent you this kind of warning. Or maybe Caroline just successfully occupied him with something else, so he stopped threatening you.
You shuddered.
You couldn't think about him being with her like you two used to be. Not yet. Not when Katherine just turned your switch back on.
So instead, you went back to tending your garden. Even before you met Klaus, you had a weakness for growing flowers, exotic shrubs, and plants. Now you have more than enough time and space to get back into your hobby. And Katherine approved of everything you did, as long as it wasn't about Klaus. You could have sworn you'd seen her water some of your plants herself. And you could confidently say that you both love this place.
Your phone buzzed again today. Klaus. This time, instead of a voicemail, he sent you a text.
"Him again? Why don't we just burn this phone, dance around the fire, sing about how much we hate him, and buy you a new phone? Maybe with some handsome, charming man or woman bundled?"
"What if he finally gets tired of chasing after me and leaves me alone? How will I know if I change my number?"
"Very funny. Do you think Caroline will make him a saint?" I froze at those words, pausing before cutting a dead twig. "Fuck. I'm sorry, I didn't want to…"
"No, everything's fine. You're right. I should be able to function normally now and stop tensing up every time I hear one of their names."
"Well, after being with this maniac for 300 years, I believe you may still be experiencing harmful side effects."
"Hold." you threw her your phone. "Do what you want with it. I'm going to change clothes, and we'll have fun in the city. If I remember correctly, there's supposed to be some kind of mask festival there, right? So it's perfect for us."
"And that's the attitude I want to see!"
You smiled as you walked away from her, laughing, towards the house. Who knows? Maybe today you'll find the only one for you.
~•♤♤♤•~
"Hurry up! I want cotton candy!" you tried to shout over the crowd of people around you and grabbed the reluctant brunette by the hand, dragging her with you.
"You're acting like a child, but you're happy, so I'll forgive you this time."
"Come on. Just admit you like it."
"Yes, my dream was to go to the ferris wheel, ride bumper cars, and eat cotton candy with a 300-year-old vampire wearing a mask that prevented me from breathing or eating a normal human meal."
"See, I told you you'd like it." the brunette rolled her eyes, pulled your arm into a half-hug, and smirked mischievously. Oh no. Yoy knew that look.
"The hot brunette on the 4th has been staring at you ever since you got in that stupid line. Go and have fun, or I'll eat all your cotton candy."
"But Kath..."
"Don't "Kath" me! Get your ass over to him or I'll push you myself!"
"Terrorist." you snorted, taking her arm off you and walking over to the man who was staring at me.
If you were human, you wouldn't have approached him. He was at least... strange. He was standing in the shadows, leaning against one of the least frequented stalls. His mask covered his entire face, unlike the others; even part of his hair was hidden from people's eyes. Besides, Katherine must have gone blind in her old age. His hair wasn't brown; it was blonde. Dark blonde...
You shuddered. It couldn't be Niklaus. You must have been paranoid. If he had found us, he would have hit you without thinking. He wouldn't be lurking in the shadows for you; he'd get rid of the problem right away. You weren't naive; you knew too much for him to let you live.
But you couldn't shake the feeling of something familiar as you looked at the stranger.
"Hi, I'm Y/N. You have a very nice disguise." you smiled and extend your hand in greeting.
The stranger took your hand and put it to the golden metal mouth carved into his mask. Without knowing why, you shivered with excitement. You felt so weird. Like you've done something like this before.
And then that single, most important memory in your whole life reminded you why you should run away from a stranger as fast as you can.
You've already met him. At a masquerade ball, at your cousin's estate, the ones fucking 300 years ago wore the same fucking mask.
It was Klaus.
You were about to yank your hand out of his grip, but he pulled you closer, turning your back to his strong chest. He took three steps back, completely drowning both of you in the dark. He dropped his mask, pressed his hand over your mouth, preventing you from uttering a scream, and rested his chin against your shoulder, breathing deeply as he buried his nose in your hair.
Katherine will never find your dead body.
Your heart beats faster with each silent second.
"Hello, love. I think I finally caught you." under other circumstances, you would quiver with excitement as he whispered those words lewdly in your ear. Now that his love was located elsewhere, you were afraid of what he might come up with for you.
You trembled in his arms, waiting for his next step.
Instead of some sudden, no doubt painful move on his part that you were expecting, the original took off his coat and put it on you, making sure all the buttons were buttoned up.
You couldn't do anything but watch him in shock. You're sure if you weren't so tense and stressed, your jaw would have dropped to the floor instead of clenching nervously in anticipation.
"Let's take you home, love. We all missed you." he grabbed your hand, trying to lead you out of the festival.
"Won't you kill me?" the hybrid froze, slowly turning to face you. He cupped your cheek gently with his hand and looked at you with pure love and adoration in his eyes that more or less masked the sadness behind them.
What the fuck?
"The only person I want to kill right now is my little brother. You, love, are all that matters to me."
He cupped your lips in a passionate, longing kiss, entwining his hands in your hair. You moaned, giving in to the pleasant feeling of being close to his body. At one point, fireworks exploded around you, causing you to shudder slightly in surprise. However, Nik continued kissing you as if his life depended on it, with a small, happy smirk.
Wait a minute…
Realization has passed through your mind.
He didn't want to kill you.
He was looking for you because he missed you.
He loved you.
So he and that blonde monkey…
You pulled away from him, slapping him across the cheek. He sighed, rubbing the slightly sore spot.
"I admit, I deserved it…"
"What the hell were you doing with Caroline?! You think you can play with her behind my back and come for me after a month like nothing ever happened?! You're in so much fucking trouble… why the hell are you smiling?!" you shouted as you saw a satisfied, blissful, even grateful smile form on his face.
He must have gone completely insane this month without you.
"You have no idea…" he paused, reaching for you to pull out a small velvet box from the pocket of his coat and open it to reveal your ring. "How much I missed you."
"Don't even think that after all this, I'm just jumping into your arms. You must have been up to some stupid plan of yours, AGAIN, that involved that bitch and instead of telling me anything, AGAIN, you decided to do everything yourself and got so involved that you forgot about everything else, AGAIN?"
"Maybe?" he glanced at you, embarrassed, fiddling nervously with the ring box in his hands.
"God. You're lucky, I love you." you growled, taking the ring from him and putting it on your finger, then pulling him to yourself and kissing him hungrily, trying to make up for those lost (BECAUSE OF HIM) weeks.
He moaned into your lips, willingly committing to return your kiss. You pulled away from him before it turned into a full, hot makeup session between the two of you.
"I have to go back to Katherine's for my stuff. I'll text you when and where we'll meet."
"I will go with you…"
"NO! I will not expose Katherine to you. I'd been waiting for you for months in a cold, empty bed. I believe that you will last a few hours without me."
"Hours?"
"You wanna change it into days?" you asked, raising an eyebrow in challenge.
"No. I'll wait for you." he replied quickly, not wanting to part with you for longer than it necessary.
"Perfect." you gave him a quick goodbye kiss and ran back to Katherine.
Well, maybe you were the only one after all. - you thought with a smile, fiddling with the ring that was adorning your finger again.

Veiled Secrets - Caroline Forbes x fem!reader
[summary: where reader is finds out caroline is a vampire.]
Masterlist
The town of Mystic Falls was no stranger to secrets, but when you arrived, you couldn't have imagined the depths of darkness that lay beneath its picturesque surface.
Caroline Forbes, a vibrant and popular figure, had caught your eye from the moment you set foot in the town. She was quite the ray of sunshine that stood out in the small town atmosphere of Mystic Falls. Little did you know, her life held a secret that would forever change your perception of reality.
As you settled into Mystic Falls, your paths crossed with Caroline more often than not. The two of you ended up collaborating on a charity event, your personalities surprisingly complementary. Caroline's boundless energy and your thoughtful nature created a balance that drew you closer.
One evening, as you helped her set up for the event, a slip of her hand revealed something that left you speechless—a flash of fangs. Your heart raced as your mind raced to catch up with what you had just witnessed.
Caroline's eyes widened, a mixture of panic and vulnerability in her gaze. She could feel her breathing quicken and her heart had begun to race miles a minute, "(Y/n), I can explain."
Stumbling over your words in shock, you finally managed to find your voice. "You're... a vampire?"
Caroline's nod was barely perceptible, her voice tinged with sadness. She was silent for a moment before saying, "Yes. It's a secret I've been keeping from everyone."
As the truth settled in, a whirlwind of emotions swept over you. Surprise, fear, curiosity—it was a potent mix that left you uncertain about how to proceed.
You had read a lot of fantasy books and seen many movies about vampires before and was quite entertained by the idea. There were even times you wished you could be one. Though, when your once thought ideas had now become a reality, you were quite lost on how to respond.
Over the following days, Caroline shared her story with you—the struggles, the fears, and the need to protect those she cared about. As you listened, you realized that beneath her seemingly perfect exterior, there was a vulnerability that she rarely showed to anyone.
As your connection with Caroline deepened, so did your feelings for her. You were drawn to her Despite the revelations, you found yourself drawn to her strength and the way she had faced her reality head-on. But a nagging question remained—could you truly be with someone who existed in a world of darkness and danger?
One evening, as the moon hung low in the sky, you found yourself at a crossroads. Caroline stood before you, her gaze uncertain. "(Y/n), I understand if this is too much for you, if you can't accept what I am."
Your heart ached as you looked into her eyes, the turmoil of your emotions evident. "Caroline, I can't deny that I care for you. But I also can't ignore the fact that your life is dangerous, that being with you would mean stepping into a world I never knew existed."
Caroline nodded, a sadness in her eyes that mirrored your own. "I understand."
The weight of your decision settled on your shoulders as you turned away, your heart heavy with the knowledge that the love you felt might be forever out of reach. You felt a light wind blow by as your now ex-girlfriend sped away.
As usual, the days turned went by, Mystic Falls continued its intricate dance of light and shadow. Your connection with Caroline remained, a bittersweet reminder of the love that could have been. And as you watched her from afar, you knew that some secrets were destined to remain veiled forever.

☆。I know I haven’t been on here in the longest time, but I’m sorta back so here’s a Klaroline one shot as an apology. Please don’t hate me 🫣
𝑰𝑵𝑻𝑰𝑴𝑨𝑪𝒀 𝑰𝑺𝑵𝑻 𝑱𝑼𝑺𝑻 𝑺𝑬𝑿
SERIES ONE: KLAROLINE
𝗛𝗨𝗠𝗔𝗡 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗕𝗘𝗦
&
𝗛𝗬𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗗 𝗞𝗟𝗔𝗨𝗦 𝗠𝗜𝗞𝗔𝗘𝗟𝗦𝗢𝗡
"Okay favorite color?" Her voice was light and airy as she called the next question. Klaus leans behind her combing his slender fingers through her bouncy water curls. Humming softly to an older classical singer he favored.
His young blonde turns her head a little to retrieve his attention again—-not that she ever lost it, but he hadn't answered quickly like her last few turns.
The original chuckles lightly and kisses her hair, "that one's easy, it's yellow."
Caroline shakes her head but hums when he massages her scalp with his firm hands. She lets her body sink deeper into his spread legs, feeling her hands wave and sway with the bathtub water. Klaus's finger graze the tip of her temple before he pulls them back lightly.
"What was my youngest brother's name?"
The question itself didn't float around so hotly or discomforted as it once did in the first year of their relationship. At first he wouldn't answer any questions that she'd asked—-involving his past sibling. Always reminding how she didn't need to dig into something he'd never cared to talk about, which caused arguments and very emotional tears.
That was then though.
He hears her heart pump slightly more, a known excitement coursing through her delicate skin. He knew how much she enjoyed talking about 'the Viking days' with him. Always finding deep enjoyment in his stories of how he once lived his very old and tedious life.
"I personally love calling him Henry, but his name was Henrik." Her head tilts with a speckle of sass in her tone, knowing he'd be smirking behind her. It was true Caroline loved calling Henrik—-Henry or little hen, saying if he was still alive they'd be best friends. Making bracelets, playing with their magic, still remaining their fragile human selves, and playing innocent jokes on the rest of his dysfunctional family.
Klaus smirks--as she'd known. Thinking about how much a simple human girl could shift his dark and immortal life. So much of him he'd thought had died along with the his last human heart beat, she'd pulled out of his cold blocked off heart.
He continued to wonder where she'd been when he was human and begging to find a love such as the kind they'd experienced currently. Well of course he knew that she wasn't even a seedling when he was flesh and fragile skinned, but it never hurt to question.
The still hot bathtub water waves against her shifting to lean her head back toward his bare chest. Humming when his hands wrap to cover her bare---soft skin, pulling her closer in between his legs.
Klaus leans down to plant sweet lipped touches across her next, slowly tasting the salty taste of the lavender bubble bath. Nobody would or could ever understand his affection for the short blonde that leaned up against his chest in a fathomable way.
None could understand how badly he breathed her oxygen, ingesting the sweet tangling smell of her everything. Klaus had always lived to be the eternal bachelor, until the day she'd run into him while he was walking through the wood in mystic falls. Trying to plot ways to get the doppelganger to break his curse.
He remembered how she criticized him on being a weirdo for walking in the woods at nearly eleven at night. Her hair had been wet from the lake that she'd been taking a late night swim in, speckles falling down her neck, just above the beating line that pumped the invigorating liquid he'd feasted upon only hours before from a bystander.
It was like his heart skipped the centuries worth of beats it had over the thousand years. Watching her chest rise and fall ever so gently as she breathed in the thing he'd no longer needed. Caroline had been the first breath he'd breathed since before the sword went right into his heart.
That was the night he'd felt a crack run down the barrier of his heart when she'd smiled at him after he walked her up the white boarded porch of her mother's old home. Klaus had fallen quicker than he'd ever felt one could fall.
He trails his lips up her soft baby like skin, towards the under bone of her neck that connected to her ear. Nibbling at the skin there, then planting a tender kiss against the never there mark.
"Your turn, sweetheart," his voice whispers, listening to her barley sounded hum in return.
Caroline sighs gently, "What's my middle name?"
He doesn't ponder on the thought, she'd known that he knew every simple detail about her. Including the cloud shaped birthmark that was underneath her left breast, or the star tattoo that resided on her right ankle.
Truth was she loved hearing him say it, regardless if it was when they would disagree on something and he'd bluntly burst out the name to grab her attention in a less physical manner. Or when he'd say if she was testing his patients in the most loving---but childish ways.
"Elizabeth."
Her body tingled in the most deliciously delicate ways. Hearing each syllable fall from his fine wined lips, having the feeling of being held by the most dangerous man to walk among the world. The power that came with his detailed and vibrant accent every each of words he'd spoken to her, but the name---oh the name, it made her want to bury herself underneath the tongue in which he'd used it.
Nothing ever made a name so simple as Elizabeth could ever sound so special, so tender, so earnest, as Klaus saying it in the presence of her finely pierced ears. Caroline had imagined living her life until age's of normal humans came to take her away, a astounding journalism career, a husband she'd met by an accidental bump in a supermarket, marriage, two beautiful children--maybe even a dog, and the love that followed with the wish.
But being with an immortal hybrid who'd burn down the world for a scratch against her peach colored skin, for a wrong head turn to curse profanities against her clear mind, or even the simplest of coffee mistakes. A man who breathed in her skin, her eyes, her soul, it was all so delicate.
So alluring and fictional, she'd be with him until the universe said 'no mas'. Till her old timed out coral blue eyes seen nothing but bur without a pair of reading glasses, and he still looked like the gorgeous man he timelessly was.
simply perfection, in both senses of mind.

hie!! obsessed with your fic and while (patiently) waiting for updates, i have THE biggest craving for fics with the same vibes as your fic & The Wolf by yokan. for instance, fics with caroline in NOLA with lots of mikaelson family dynamics and just her being around them or being considered as a part of their family. i'm lowkey a sucker for found-family kinda tropes if its not obvious lol.
i haven't read alot of kc fics yet so honestly just hit me with any fic!! popular or underrated everything works since i'm technically very new in the fandom! :D
thankyou for the recs in advance!!
Thanks so much! Specifically NOLA fics:
Blood and a Quick Murder (and isn't that how it always is) by KS_Caster
After a magical accident turns Caroline into a human, she discovers that her values don't match up with her friends' like she thought they did. She discovers that some choices are permanent - and some aren't. Oneshot - complete.
Whisper To Help Me Remeber by LaLainaJ
Put down by Tristan Klaus waits. And plans. Once awakened he's thrilled to set out and get revenge. A wrinkle forms when he hears news of Caroline, and is told that she's been working for his enemies. Klaus is determined to find out why, and soon learns that something is not quite right with her. He'll fix it, whatever it takes. Uses TO characters but ignores most TO canon.
Like The Sun Shines by LaLainaJ
"Klaus finds himself blinking down at his phone for an embarrassingly long length of time while he filters his brother's usual nonsense and the pertinent information sinks into his brain. Caroline is in New Orleans." It's an average Wednesday in NOLA until it isn't.
Fallen by klarolineepiclove
Caroline Forbes was a woman with a secret. Running from a shattered past, she settles in New Orleans, determined to disappear in the crowds and chaos. When her path continually crosses with the Mikaelson family, her plans go awry. When she finds herself drawn to the charasmatic Klaus, she begins to wonder: How far can you run before the past catches up with you? AU/AH Klaroline
Break Your Promise by Fearfrost
"What can I do?" He breathed. He knew in that moment listening to her fall apart hundreds of miles away he'd do anything she asked. "Break your promise."
Wicked Schemes by willowaus
Old family secrets lead Caroline on a journey of self-discovery and into the dark underbelly of New Orleans as Klaus works to reclaim his kingdom and rebuild the family he's slowly destroyed over the centuries. A TVD/The Originals crossover.
Someone's First Choice by unpublishednovelist
How many times can Tyler put their relationship on hold, ignoring her calls and hiding in the mountains of Appalachia, before Caroline finally snaps? He's pushing her away. Who could blame her for being pushed to something else? Someone else --- A rewrite of the TVD S5E1 scene where Tyler leaves Caroline yet another stupid message about how she's not the most important thing in his life.
throw roses into the abyss by marxandangels
Throw roses into the abyss and say: Here is my thanks to the monster who didn’t succeed in swallowing me alive. Caroline goes to see Klaus in New Orleans after her mom's death, humanity free. That choice changes her life from the foundations, every single brick of it --- I think that the whole humanity switch thing is the dumbest plot device in TVD, but also the most interesting. What is humanity, really? What are the edges of it? What would it /actually/ mean to be able to turn that on and off?
Not NOLA, but the Mikaelson family dynamics are off the charts:
not for him a watery grave by MyLadyElise
He's saved her life, more than once. Doesn't she owe him the same? An alliance, a rescue, a race against time. A possibility. Hope. AU after Season 3: Before Sunset.
Persistence of Memory by perfectpro
Caroline comes to New Orleans, nervous to see Klaus after their last argument. As it turns out, she doesn't need to worry about him being angry. He doesn't remember the argument. After all, how can he when he doesn't even remember who she is?
a vampire, a brother, and a pack of wolves walk into a bar by banazie
In which Kol angers a pack of wolves with moonlight rings, his girls’ night out with Caroline is ruined, and Klaus feels particularly dagger-y.
where the heart moves stones by darkness_shows_the_stars
Caroline’s planned college experience in New York, so far away from her magic-infested hometown, keeps getting interruped because the Originals have apparently decided that her dorm room is free game. Getting away from supernatural drama was so much easier in theory.
the fate makes for a lousy poet by darknes_shows_the_stars
It is not unheard of. Soulmates born too far apart to ever meet. Caroline did her research thoroughly. It’s just rare. And for all that she’d known her entire life that her fated other half was dead long, long before she was even a gleam in her mother’s eye … it’s unfair. --- Everyone is born with a soulmate. It just so happens that a millennium divides Caroline from hers.
There's tons more. Search through my fic rec tag in my tumblr archive if you want more fic recs, or browse my AO3 bookmarks, I've answered a few asks like this one ✨

Correct me if I’m wrong at all about this, but he has said that he doesn’t like being sexualized- especially by minors and I know not everyone here on tumblr is an actual mature adult so I will write fluff and angst about him but definitely not smut.)

The Perfect, Fail-Proof Plan
Caroline Forbes x Reader
Masterlist - Join My Taglist!
Written for my Year of Olympians and part of a bigger challenge being run by @yearofcreation2023! It features a ton of other awesome creators and runs all year, so go check it out!
Fandom: The Vampire Diaries
Prompt: Hephaestus; fire
Summary: Caroline and her girlfriend celebrate the last bonfire of their high school career, sending the tradition off right.
Word Count: 1,104
Category: Fluff
Putting work into an AI program without permission is illegal. You do not have my permission. Do not do it.
I smiled as I made my way through the crowd of my drunken peers, two beers in hand. Everyone had gathered for the last bonfire of our last year of high school, and every single one of us was having the time of our lives. It was only right to go all out for a tradition that had carried us through from our freshman years.
A moment later I found my girlfriend, Caroline Forbes, leaning against a tree and chatting with Elena and Matt. I grinned as I reached them, holding out one of the two beers I'd retrieved to Caroline.
"Sorry, I didn't realize I'd need two more," I said, shooting a smile in Matt and Elena's direction as I sidled up next to Caroline.
"That's okay," Elena said, waving me off. "We were just about to go make a trip ourselves."
She shot me and Caroline a meaningful look, then dragged Matt after her and back into the rest of the party. Caroline turned to me with a grin.
"So, how are you enjoying our last ever bonfire?"
I narrowed my eyes. "Last ever bonfire feels a little dramatic. Last high school bonfire, sure, but I plan to go out and drink in the woods around a fire far into my twenties."
Caroline shook her head and smacked my arm, but she was still smiling.
"You know what I meant! This is a big moment for us. The end of an era."
"As far as I'm concerned, it's just the start," I said, leaning in a little. "The start of an amazing future with you."
Caroline giggled, a smile as bright and warm as the sun shining in my direction, her eyes crinkling at the corners. My heart leapt a little in my chest.
"A future of drunk fire parties?" she asked, her voice teasing. I just grinned and leaned in further.
"Yes. Drunk fire parties and idiotic activities and just being unreasonably, ridiculously happy, together."
Caroline bit her lip and glance down before looking back at me, a slight blush on her cheeks. Or maybe it was from the cold.
"Do you want to go down and look at the falls with me?"
I beamed. "Absolutely I do."
She took my hand, and I followed after her through the woods, the noise and light of the party fading behind us as we went. I sped up to walk next to Caroline, dropping her hand and linking our arms instead. I leaned into her, and she shot me a little smile.
"You know, I used to want to get a guy down to the falls with me so badly," she said. "I had this perfect plan that just never quite worked out. I've gotta say... I'm glad I'm coming down here with you instead."
I beamed. "It almost killed me to watch you try your moves on Stefan and Matt and every other guy you had a thing for. I never thought... I don't know. If you'd told junior-year me that I would've had a chance with you, I don't think I would've believed it."
"Well, I can tell you right now that I'm much happier to be here with you than if I'd ever had success with any of those guys."
I stopped as we finally reached the falls, an immovable smile plastered on my face. My heart hammered in my chest. I'd been in love with Caroline since the seventh grade, and the fact that we'd been happily dating for the past few months still didn't totally feel real to me.
"What?" she asked, giggling a little as she noticed my stare. I let out a long, happy breath.
"Nothing. Just... happy. Happy to be here with you."
"Me too," she said, moving a little bit closer to me. I mirrored her movements until we were close enough for me to put my arms around her waist, pulling her into me. She smiled, lazily draping her arms around my neck, then leaned in and kissed me.
No matter how many times I got to kiss my girlfriend, I don't think the magical, sparkly feeling in my chest I always got would ever fade. The water of the falls crashed onto the rocks next to us, creating a natural ambiance as I deepened the kiss. I reached up to cup Caroline's cheek as she tangled a hand in my hair, and when we finally pulled apart, I couldn't keep a smile off my face.
"I love you, Care," I said. She blushed, but smiled right back.
"I love you too."
I leaned back in and gave her another soft kiss, then finally pulled away with a sigh.
"We should probably get back," I said. "It is our last bonfire, after all."
"Last bonfire might be a little dramatic," Caroline parroted in a bad imitation of my own voice. She made a face and put her hands on her hips, and I tried and failed to hold back a laugh. "Last bonfire of high school, I guess, but-"
"Alright, alright, your impression of me is truly unmatched," I said, holding out a hand to Caroline. She took it, lacing our fingers together, and I swung our hands back and forth as we headed through the woods together. "So tell me, my favorite person on planet earth: what would make our last high school bonfire the best one for you? What would give it a worthy sendoff and celebration for the end of this four year era?"
Caroline pulled me to a stop in the trees just beyond the firelight, the sounds of the party beckoning to us from a little ways away. She turned me to face her, smiling at me as she took my other hand.
"This has already been the perfect night, because I got to spend it with you."
"Aw," I said, leaning in to give Caroline one more quick peck before we headed the rest of the way into the bonfire clearing. "Is it also because your 'do you want to go to the falls with me' master plan finally worked?"
"Maybe. Although, since I was clearly meant to go down there with you at the perfect moment on our last bonfire night... I think it's fair to say my fail-proof plan never actually failed at all. I just wasn't meant to go down there with any of the boys."
I laughed, enjoying the lightness in my heart with the warmth of the fire in front of me and the warmth of Caroline's smile beside me. Maybe she had a point.
"Yeah, Caroline. I think I'd agree that your plan ended up working perfectly."

Author's Note: I have written a second part to this one-shot that I posted many moons ago, here is a quick reblog to hopefully get it into circulation again before the new part is posted. I never planned for a second part, but it kind of happened anyway and I think it works well. I thought it would be fun to explore the aftermath of this event, and how it would affect some of the characters of Mystic Falls. Keep in tune! It should be up within the next day or so.

♡Be my Valentine♡
Pairing: Klaus Mikaelson x reader
Summary: The day of lovers came like a bolt from the blue. You were planning to stay in your house, make yourself a huge pizza, and celebrate another year of being a single, self-sufficient woman. But you forgot that having the original hybrid as a lover-enemy (more like a puppy/wolf madly in love with you) comes with all sorts of surprises.
Word count: 4,4k+
My bloodthirsty alarm clock has been bothering me for 15 minutes. I promised myself that this time I would give up throwing a metal object and save myself the few dollars I used to spend on a new alarm clock every month. I groaned, rolling out of bed and getting up to turn off the death machine. I grabbed my phone off the nightstand and threw myself back on the bed to check my messages.
Queen of school: Don't forget about the Valentine's Ball! I want to see you there with some sexy guy, so this freak-ancient hybrid will finally give you peace. P.S. Don't even think about missing it. I'll make Stefan or Damon come for your lazy ass.
Love you too, Gilbert. :-P
I groaned as I put a pillow over my face. It completely slipped my mind that today is this bloody holiday. Caroline will kill me if I try to avoid this annual nightmare again. I had to find a way to get out of this. Last year I had an unannounced visit from my mother, and two years ago I went skiing with Elena (who had broken up with Matt and was as reluctant to participate in this stupid holiday as I was). Maybe this time Bonnie could help me extricate myself from this?
Hello, my best friend ever! Could you help me hide in the darkest hole in this town so I didn't have to go out today and risk my mental health being completely damaged after seeing all these copules who will be sucking each other's faces and pelting each other with chocolates, flowers, and God knows what else?
Bon_Bon sweetheart: Are Caroline or Elena making you go to the party again?
Yes. On pain of death.
Bon_Bon sweetheart: You three are such drama queens. Give me five minutes. I'll come to you and help you with your excuse.
Thank you! You've always been my favorite.
Bon_Bon sweetheart: Don't let Caroline hear that!
I sighed in relief as I put my phone down. Immediately after, it buzzed, signaling an incoming call. Rebekah.
"What's up?" I asked after answering it.
Rebekah and I formed a sort of friendship after she joined our school. Of course, the girls were furious, but with time, they grew accustomed to my strange, warm-hearted relationship with Mikaelson. Actually, not only one of them. Kol was surprisingly nice after our many fights over every food I had, he liked to mess with me, especially after he saw I didn't shy away from teasing him just because he was an evil, crazy original vampire. Elijah and I somehow ended up together in the public library, discussing a book we were both reading. Since then, I've had three "friends" of the originals.
There was only one problem in this strange, twisted life of an ordinary man among the vampires, witches, and werewolves that I managed to lead. And there weren't fights between my two groups of friends. The problem was called Klaus Mikaelson. A man who turned our relatively quiet life in Mystic Falls upside down. A vampire who wanted to use Elena's blood to make hybrids similar to him (which she refused to do, as if taking her magical blood every month and giving it to Klaus wouldn't bury the hatchet between bloodthirsty vampires and bring us peace again).
"Can you tell me why all of the people are acting crazy? I mean, they aren't usually normal, but today they are unreasonable! Every wall is plastered with strange hearts, angels with arcs, and other red and pink damn things. We're celebrating a day of ripping people's hearts out, or what's the point?" she asked, both annoyed and confused by the whole situation. Just let it wait until Valentine's Day mail. Then a real nightmare happens.
"Almost. Have you ever heard of Valentine's Day, or has your ancient ass been kept in that musty coffin too long for you to know such a thing?"
"What?"
"In short. There was this one guy who decided that he had to set aside one special day in the year when people would declare their sincere, undying love for each other. And attention. Today is that day. So if you have a boy you're crazy about, you might as well go out with him tonight. If you don't have such plans, you can join me. We'll watch a movie, eat junk food, and complain about all men on this earth." I suggested as I walked into the kitchen and made sure I had everything I needed to survive this day.
"You seriously don't have anyone you would like to spend this day with? Did you see yourself in the mirror?! You're beautiful and…"
"Thank you. But I don't want to go out, find some guy, and have fun with him just because this holiday expects it of me. I'm not looking for one-night stands or something like that. Plus, I could use a day off from the drama of Mystic Falls."
"As you wish. I guess I'll try my luck and try to find someone. Hang on there!"
"Good luck! Have fun, honey!"
As soon as I hung up, I heard a knock on the door. I changed quickly, tying my hair as I went, and opened the door. Bonnie wrinkled her nose at my messy state.
"Hi girl. You really don't want to go, do you?" she asked, entering the apartment and looking around. It's a good thing I cleaned up last night.
"After planning a whole beautiful day of doing nothing? No thanks. I just hope Caroline will forgive me." I replied, leaning against the door and staring at the witch.
She has changed since she found out who she really is. She became bolder, more persistent, and fiercer. Like all of us, I guess. Sometimes I miss those quiet days when vampires and werewolves were just fantastic inventions. Everything was simpler then.
"She might be a little pissed off, but she'll understand. Caroline just wants you to be well. She thinks you haven't gotten over your breakup with Luck yet and wants to help you." she tried to defend her friend's behavior.
However, we both knew that Caroline's dominant side wasn't just the result of her caring. She liked to stick her nose in other matters; the fact that she was trying to save the whole world at the same time was the only reason why we turned a blind eye to the blonde's behavior.
"As if being single was a punishment, not a choice. Just because I didn't jump into the arms of some other hot, dark-haired guy doesn't mean I'm still grieving the breakup with that asshole." I grunted, annoyed. I was able to fully take care of myself. I didn't need a man to lean on, especially not after what happened with my ex. Life alone was easier.
"I know. That's why I bring you this." she took a small glass bottle from her leather bag and handed it to me.
"What is it?" I asked, taking the vial from her and turning it over in my hand.
"Potion. A couple of sips, and you'll have a terrible cold. Take it when one of the guys comes to check on you. As soon as he's gone, eat a black peppercorn, and you'll be back to normal."
"Wow. How do you know that? You're becoming a more advanced witch, Miss Bennet. 5 points for Hufflepuff." I said with admiration. I have always loved witches and hags depicted in literature, so having a real one as a friend was a real blessing for me. That doesn't mean I'd give up joking about Bonnie's extraordinary abilities.
"Really funny. Now excuse me. Unlike you, I'm going to school, and I still have to pick out a dress, and unfortunately, I don't have a rich hybrid at my beck and call. Why don't you go out with him if you don't have anyone else? This will keep Caroline from letting you go. Also, he seems to be more peaceful for us after he spends a day with you." she tapped me on the arm with a mischievous smirk.
"Yeah. And right after the perfect date, I will confess my great love to him by getting down on one knee and proposing to him."
"If that's what you want. Happy Valentine's Day, grouch!" she screamed with a huge smile, closing the door behind her. A strange feeling of hope ran through my body.
After all, maybe it's going to be a good day.
~♡♡♡•♡♡♡~
*A few hours later*
"It's a pity you got sick today." Stefan said after he took my temperature.
The vampire was delegated by Caroline to get me out of the house at all costs. Luckily, Bonnie's potion worked perfectly, and that's how I ended up wrapped in the warmest blanket on the couch with my few-hundred-year-old friend.
"I know. I really wanted to go to the ball and see how you and Caroline won the prize for being the best couple." I said, blowing my nose into one of the handkerchiefs.
"Do you believe in us so much?"
"Well, after Tayler swore to make Klaus' life miserable, he didn't work well as her boyfriend. They were cute at first, but it all went to hell. So take your chance before some other handsome guy hangs around her. Like Kol or Elijah." my taunt was met with a small snort from the man.
"Speaking of the Mikaelsons. How's your fledgling relationship with Klaus? I'm surprised he didn't call in the entire medical team from the hospital to check on you." he replied amused when he noticed how my smile fades along with the memory of the original.
"You think you're funny, Salvatore? Aside from your feeble attempt at joking, I must also point out your poor choice of words. Me and Klaus have no relationship."
"Of course. The guy just sends you fancy, expensive dresses every time there's a party in Mystic Falls, sends you love notes with your portraits on them, is there for you almost 24/7, and scares away any potential guy who wants to date you." he teased, counting on his fingers all the deeds of the original.
"He did what?! Who the hell he scared?" I sprang off the couch, dropping a box of tissues as I went.
"I witnessed him almost stabbing Kol for saying you looked scathing in one of those dresses he sent you. Poor Elijah had to look for you all over the school so you could distract your hybrid." he laughed a little at the indignation on my face.
"He isn't mine." I growled, returning to my comfortable spot on the couch.
"Tell him, not me. So, you don't happen to have a date with that wolf in love?" he asked, suddenly curious, leaning in my direction with searching eyes and a mysterious smirk on his lips.
"Pigs will fly before I date that damn imbecile." I snorted, pushing him away from me to reach for another tissue. Bonnie seems to have overdone the potency of this wonderful potion.
"Well, think it over. If Damon sees flying pork in Mystic Falls tomorrow, he'll probably go abstinent. You could inherit his share of our old wine collection from him."
"Did Caroline send you to act as my and Klaus' matchmaker for her?"I asked, leaning over to the vampire to eye him suspiciously.
"Not that blonde. But it was Caroline who finally convinced me. You don't even know how a common goal can unite even the worst enemies. Have a good time!" he shouted, pushing me onto the couch and grabbing his phone off the coffee table.
"Stefan! Wait!" I tried to stop him, but thanks to his super speed, he escaped from my apartment.
I snorted, muttering curses at the vampire under my breath as I stood up to close the door behind him.
It was usually Caroline, Bonnie, and Rebekah who teased me about Klaus' supposed feelings for me. The girls would make suggestive, eloquent comments whenever me and Klaus did something together or paired us up for a particular task against the newest threats in Mystic Falls. They often used me as a "distraction" and "bait" for the original hybrid. Not to mention their whistling every time we somehow danced together.
Worst of all, though, was Rebekah's teasing after I stayed overnight at the Mikaelsons' and Klaus and I accidentally ended up in his bed. I will never forget her malicious tone of voice and the wave of shame and embarrassment that engulfed me after she said to Klaus: "You must not have tried hard enough, brother, since neither of us heard you had a visitor in your sheets."
Adding Stefan to their little "group of bullies" will only make their taunts worse.
My God, keep Kol away from their stupid plans.
I went to the kitchen to take "an antidote" for my illness. I made myself some popcorn and decided to watch "Pride and Prejudice" as my first movie tonight. Halfway through the movie, I heard a knock on the door. It could only be one person.
"If you don't have food with you, I'm not going to let you in, Bekah." I said as I opened the door. I froze in place when I finally saw who was on the other side of them. Klaus.
"Not this Mikaelson, love. I've heard you are sick, so I brought you this." he picked up the bundle in his hands, which smelled dangerously similar to my favorite food.
"How the hell did you get here? I thought you and Elijah were going on a reconnaissance mission or something like that, and you'd be gone for a week." I said, honestly surprised to see him.
"It's nice to know that you do care about me, love, and are taking the trouble to assimilate such information. Satisfying your curiosity, we came back early. Can I come in now?"
"It depends." I replied, crossing my arms over my chest.
"On what?" he asked with a charming smirk, leaning his head against the door frame.
"What is this?" I asked, pointing to the packaging.
"That disgusting, fiendishly spicy spaghetti that you've somehow taken a liking to lately."
"And what do you have in the other hand?" I asked as I saw him trying hard to hide something behind him.
"It's a surprise. I can't jump out with all my gifts right now, can I?"
"Make me regret this, and I'll ask Bonnie to cancel all my invitations again, even if it means I'll spend another half day letting my friends in, because amazingly, 90 percent of them are vampires."
"I won't make that mistake again, love. If you could…" he pointed at the door and the invisible barrier blocking him from entering.
"Come in, the bane of my existence." I sighed, turning my back on him to go back to my cocoon of blankets on the couch.
"You must admit, I'm the most handsome bane you could ever dream of."
"I don't know… you could be at least younger." I replied thoughtfully, smiling as his confident smirk faded.
"Ouch." he put his hand on his chest, close to his heart, pretending to be hurt. He carefully placed the packaging on the coffee table and handed me the gardenia bouquet, which he had been hiding behind his back all this time.
"And for what occasion?" I asked, taking the flowers from the softly smiling hybrid and looking at them for a moment. Despite my reluctance, I had to admit that they were beautiful and smelled amazing.
He nodded at the bouquet. I looked it over carefully, noticing a small piece of paper between the flowers. I opened the note, checking its contents.
Unpack your lunch.
There was no mistaking Klaus' perfect handwriting for anyone else's.
I frowned, glancing at the hybrid sitting carelessly beside me. The bastard pretended not to see my questioning look and watched the scene of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy in the rain with fascination, like nothing happened.
I snorted as I opened the box and started eating my spaghetti while continuing to watch my movie. At one point, I felt Klaus's arm slide precariously onto the back of the couch behind me, and the hybrid itself moved slightly closer to me.
He watched me for a moment, gauging my reaction. I decided to tease the vampire a bit and, sighing deeply, leaned back completely against him, resting my head on his shoulder.
He tensed up, gently wrapping his arm around me that he had placed on the back of the couch earlier.
When I had finished eating, I saw that there was a note on the bottom of the clear plastic box on the other side. I turned the box over, reading another note, much to the interest and excitement of the man sitting next to me.
Check your jacket pockets.
I turned my gaze to Klaus. I looked into his eyes, trying to see the shadow of any plan he was hiding.
"Any problem, love?" he asked, pretending to be a fool.
"I don't know yet." I mumbled, licking my mouth. His gaze flicked from my eyes to my lips. He leaned toward me, getting dangerously close. His attention returned to my eyes, trying to anticipate my next move. With a small, mischievous smirk, I shoved the empty box into his hands and pushed him away from me, getting up from the couch to walk over to the coat rack.
I slipped my hand into the pocket of my leather jacket, immediately sensing the tiny square note.
Go down.
I turned to the hybrid standing behind me. I held the paper up to his eye level, raising an eyebrow questioningly.
"What's this?"
"Come and find out for yourself, love. I dare you."
I crossed my arms over my chest, giving him a defiant look.
"You know, I have a rather tempting counterproposal to stay in a warm and cozy home. I'm hardly drawn to the unknown with my friends' nemesis."
"It would be such a shame if Caroline somehow got to know that you're quite healthy and ready to go to her party. You had to leave your cozy couch."
"You wouldn't…" I walked over to him, giving him a menacing look.
"Oh, wouldn't I?" he accepted the challenge by taking a step closer so our chests were touching.
"Well played. Expect retaliation, love." I replied, trying to imitate his tone of voice when he gave people that nickname. The hybrid only laughed. He helped me put on my jacket, and placing his hand on my back, he led me out of the building.
We stopped in front of his car, on the hood of which was another card.
Let the handsome and hot chauffeur drive you to your destination.
"Handsome and hot? Someone's got a good imagination." I laughed, turning the note over in my hands. The man gave me a hurt look as he opened the passenger door for me. "Someone is also mysterious today." I teased further, walking over to Klaus to face him. "Really? Won't you tell me anything?"
"Careful, love. Curiosity killed the cat."
"And the satisfaction brought him back."
"If you want, I can work on your satisfaction later when we get back."
I rolled my eyes, ignoring his smug smirk as I got into his car without a word.
He was in the driver's seat next to me in less than a second and had already started the engine. He pulled out of the parking lot and headed for the main road out of Mystic Falls.
"Where are we going?" my question was met only by his silence. "Come on. I'm not jumping out of the car when you're going that fast anyway."
"Who knew you were so impatient, love? We'll be there shortly." he replied, glancing briefly at me. He smiled, obviously amused by my grumpy attitude.
"Who would have thought you could hold your tongue for more than five minutes?"
"Insults will get you nowhere, love." he smiled teasingly, looking at me for a moment.
"Please, Klaus. Tell me where you're taking me so I can tell you what a wonderful, loving, and caring guy you are that instead of handing me over to the bloodthirsty Caroline, you decided to take me on the adventure of a lifetime."
"That's better." I huffed angrily, moving as far away from him as possible. In the reflection of the window, I saw him roll his eyes. "If you must know, I'm taking you to the only place worth seeing in this awful neighborhood. Content?"
"Sufficiently." I turned to him with a mischievous smirk on my lips.
A few minutes later, we stopped in some forest. Klaus got out first, waiting for me to follow him. Hesitantly, I opened the door and walked over to him, immediately grabbing his hand. It was far too dark for hiking. At least if I wanted to get home in one piece without any tripping. The hybrid smiled softly, rubbing the back of my hand with his thumb. He moved confidently through the forest, guiding me along the forest path until we came to a cliff.
Still holding his hand, I walked to the edge, staring at the landscape before us. Not far away we could see a tiny waterfall, from which a river flowed further, stretching through the hills, valleys, and other elevations of the forest. But the most charming of all was the starlight reflecting in the fast current of the river and the sound of fir trees accompanied by the falling water.
I turned to look at the hybrid standing next to me.
Did I mention he laid a blanket, strewn rose petals, and lit several candles? No? So he did. How could I get back to my playful, mischievous mood after something like that?
"So… do you like it?" he asked uncertainly as I stared at him silently for a long time. Did I like it? I loved it.
"Yes. I like it." I replied instead, smiling shyly at him.
He led me to a blanket and took a rectangular box from his pocket, which he handed over to me after a moment's hesitation. I felt his expectant gaze on me as I unwound the bow. Before opening the box, I cast a fleeting glance at my companion. I've never seen him both so excited and… full of fear at the same time.
I sighed as I saw a beautiful silver bracelet with a pendant of a wolf howling at a silver moon, circled by a small bat, and a lapis lazuli-studded crown.
After my first fascination with the starlight reflecting object wore off, I noticed the smallest of all notes attached to the top of the box.
Will you be my valentine (and my queen)?
"Oh Klaus, I... it's..." The worry line on Klaus' forehead began to deepen as he began to assume I wanted to reject his cute confession.
"It's okay, love. I should have known it was too much. You don't have to say yes or anything. We'd best forget all about it. I will drive you back home if that's what you…" I shut him up by taking his face and putting his lips on mine.
I started to passionately kiss the paralyzed and shocked vampire. It took him a few minutes to realize what I was doing. He kissed me back and pulled me to him, so I was sitting on his lap. I smiled at the hybrid's grip, running my hand through his curly, velvety hair. We broke apart when I was completely out of breath. Breathing heavily, I smiled at the equally disheveled man.
"Well… I guess the answer is yes, then."
"Yes. I'll be your stupid valentine. But it'll take you a few more dates before you can call me your queen." I replied with a smile, tangling my hands in his hair.
"I can work with that." he whispered, never taking his eyes off mine. I cleared my throat awkwardly, unaccustomed to so much affection being shown toward me. I shifted my flustered gaze and started playing with his hair.
"Good. Now, tell me about the constellations."
"Isn't that too tacky by your standards?" he inquired, cupping my chin with one hand to refocus my attention on him.
"Yes, but I already do things I usually don't. We might as well continue to fulfill all the points of these romantic comedies."
"And what changed your mind?"
"I just have good company." he smiled and kissed my forehead, stroking my hair.
Klaus pulled me closer so I could lean against his chest. Out of nowhere, he pulled out a basket full of cookies, chocolates, and other sweets, along with a bottle of red wine. I turned slightly to look at his face as he held me tight in his arms and raised a questioning eyebrow.
"Well. Let's just say I wanted to keep it as a consolation if you don't take my confession well and run away screaming from me."
"Selfish man." I snorted, reaching for the candy bar. It took all my strength to keep from laughing at the hybrid. The vampire, however, was too attentive and noticed my amused smirk.
"Try telling that to my siblings, and I'll lock you in my room and never let you out."
"You should know better than to threaten me with a good time." I gave him a quick kiss on the lips and went back to eating the sweets.
He sighed in shock at my seductive suggestion. After a moment, he rested his chin on my shoulder and pulled me closer to him.
"So? Was it worth leaving home?" he whispered in my ear, planting a few kisses. My cheeks warmed slightly. Even without seeing his face, I could tell he was smiling goofily now, very pleased with my reaction. I turned to him, meeting his loving gaze.
Definitely.
"Possible. But you'll have to convince me a little more to be completely sure." he smiled teasingly. I could see the mischief in his eyes before he started tickling my stomach.
I screamed as I tried to get out of his strong grip. During my (unsuccessful) struggle, I knocked us to the ground, landing on my back with Klaus on top of me. With his new position, his teasing movements intensified, making me gasp with laughter.
"Okay, you won! You won!" I screamed between fits of laughter. "It was worth it."
"You sure?"
"Yes. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else." I said, pulling him into (one of many) kisses tonight.
If it involves being his queen, I think it only takes him an hour to convince me… maybe even less.
After all, it was a very good day.

Can you write something about reader forgets Damon but she didn't but pretends to, to protect him and it hurts reader seeing him be so down? That she gives in and admits she lied but Damon doesn't believe her.
It was for your protection | Damon Salvatore x Reader
my masterlist ↪M A S T E R L I S T
warnings/ other notes ↪ reader is a vamp (older than damon only by a little)
As your head lay smashed against the pavement, you watch your boyfriend maybe if you hadn't of met him eleven years ago all these dangers and threats wouldn't matter because without you he lead a nice life.
So despite him fighting for your life you couldn't help but think of a clever idea, to forget him. To pretend to forget him and maybe he'd move on, maybe this way he wont be attacked, it was to protect him.
he runs over to me and as I pretend to be unconscious he places his hands under my head, lifting it slowly.
"y/n, please y/n." his voice echoed through my mind, if i was to play this idea out, i'd have to stick by it. I blink, my eyes eventually opening to reveal his worrying expression.
My eyes stare at his, trying to feel no connection to him whatsoever "who are you?" my heart ached as the words slipped away from my mouth, a familiar sharp feeling in my body as I hoped it wouldn't hurt me this much to say those three words.
Damons lip quivers, running his hands along my cheek "it's me, Damon. Y/n, y/n?" he says and I take his blood covered hands off of my cheek "Damon? I don't know a Damon. Last I checked my boyfriend was James." I mumble confused.
Sitting up from Damons arms "no you can't play this cruel, twisted joke on my y/n. You can't do this." he says with tears forming in his eyes "i'm sorry you must be mistaken, I don't know you." I mumble, Stefan walks up beside him as Damon rubs his tears away keeping his tough facade alive.
"y/n?" Stefan says "Oh Stefan, god theres a familiar face." I act surprised to see Stefan "a familiar face?" Damon mutters "You met me first." Damon says trying not to show the emotion in his voice "I'm afraid not, I know Stefan Salvatore but who the hell are you?" I question him.
"Look y/n just come home with us and we'll run you through everything." Stefan says catching on to the fact that I couldn't 'remember' anything. Stefan walks up to me cautiously, placing a hand out for me to grab as Damon rolls his eyes storming off.
nine months later
"Good morning." I smile to Damon, I continued to uphold this not remembering thing and its been keeping this whole house out of drama so far.
Damon nods, he had been acting different recently. More sad, miserable if you will. He drags himself across the kitchen, opening the fridge and pulling out a blood bag.
He turns to me "you know..." he pauses watching me do the dishes "nine months ago, you wouldn't have woken up in a bed on the other side of the house." he says before leaving the house "what does that mean?" I ask him rushing after him.
"Damon?" I ask as he stops in front of his car "You never told me... about us." I clear my throat "And I don't intend to." he scoffs before getting in his car.
Jumping in the passenger seat he turns to face me "tell me." I demand and he shakes his head, insisting that it isn't what I'd want to here "if it wasn't what I wanted to hear, then I would not be sat here... asking." my voice was gentle trying not to overdo this charade.
"you and i dated, that was all." he says before turning the key in the ignition "it was more than that, i can feel it." I say and he shakes his head "nothing more than kindred spirits." before stepping on the gas.
I remained in the passenger seat, as we left the driveway. Somehow he managed to forget I was in the car by cranking up the volume of his music.
After a while I noticed a tear rolling down his eye, he pulls over on the side of the road. "You would have been my wife if I simply listened to you." he says "and without you, i felt like I was suffocating, drowning. Like I had no purpose. We were perfectly imperfect for each other, I inspired you to live in the moment, whereas, you would give me purpose after a torturous century of living." his blue eyes pierced into my soul like the did.
"When you opened your eyes nine months ago, on the night I lost you. I lost myself." he mumbled before getting back on the road once more.
"I don't understand, I brought out the good in you?" I ask him, pretend as if I didn't already know. Tears building up in my eyes I try to hide them, only one tear managing to escape.
"you brought out everything in me, the good, the bad, the flaws, the imperfections. I loved every bit of it." he snickered "I don't understand why you didn't try to fight harder for me when I first saw you." I question him.
"Because I love you y/n, and it is because I love you that I cannot be selfish with you. If you didn't remember me, I wasn't going to force it upon you." he muttered.
We continue to drive down the road, I look around Mystic falls and how it had changed since that night.
Eventually we made it back home, Damon and I hadn't spoken to each other after what he had said, it made me question if this was really a good idea.
It wasn't like he had died from these fights, he had won just as much as he had lost if that made any sense.
So before Damon got out of the car I grab his hand "if the old me was here right now, would you want her?" I ask him "I'll always want her even if she was right in front of me." he said coldly before exiting the car and walking straight into the house.
This is wrong, so wrong. To fool the man I love, watch him fall into shreds before me and still love me even if my memory was altered. Damon Salvatore the man who couldn't be broken yet he fell apart when he realised the love of his life wasn't coming back to him.
Even if I wanted to tell him I suddenly remembered him, how would he take it. How different would he be, would he be happier?
I couldn't exactly tell him I forgot him for my better judgement of his survival, he'd kill me. So how exactly would I tell him.
Following shortly behind Damon, I open the door to reveal every single person of the original Mystic Falls gang was sat in the living room. From Tyler the wolf to Matt the inhumane human.
"Looks like they get along fine..." Caroline says confused "Hello?" I say confused and they all stare at me intensely "Who am I?" Elena asks "Elena?" I laugh confused "Look where is Damon?" I ask them "Who am I?" Bonnie asks.
"What is this?" I laugh "We are serious y/n." Stefan buds in "So am I where is Damon?" I say looking around the room.
"he vamped away with some packed bags." Caroline said "What but h- he was, why, he was, what?" I say in utter confusion.
"He left." Elena said.
three months after damon left.
"Stefan..." my voice was irritated, I still hadn't got over the fact the Damon left without a single word, not even a goodbye or a see you later.
Stefan nods looking over to me, I had told Stefan everything from the acting to the thought process behind the acting. He sat with his jaw hitting the floor "I mean Damon wouldn't know right?" I ask biting my nails as he shakes his head "No." he says.
"Wouldn't know what?" a voice says from behind me, I spin around and now my face looks like Stefans from when I told him the truth.
I ran towards Damon with open arms "Damon" I say excitedly, he opens his arms with a huge smile. "Someones excited to see me, did she remember?" Damon says taken aback at first before easing into the hug.
"God I missed you." I say getting a good look at his face "we need to talk." my voice still sounding ecstatic "good news?" he questions and I clear my throat shaking my head remembering that I sounded way too happy to give news that would potentially ruin my relationship... or the one i had.
Stefan looks at Damon and he faces drops almost as if he already knew what was going on "sit" I clear my throat and he nods going to the sofa and sitting down "so..." I take a deep breath in "i've basically been lying to you this whole time because i thought it was best for you to just not always be protecting me because i always get you into weird fights and supernatural disasters and like its very overwhelming but i remembered you this whole time." I say all in one breath.
Damon stares at me, trying to process all the 47 words that had just escaped my mouth.
Maybe 38 minutes passed before Damon finally spoke, Stefan had left and the house was empty besides him and I.
"I need a drink." he says walking down to the basement and retrieving one of the oldest bottles of bourbons in the cellar, he walks outside to sit in the brick wall leaving the door open.
I slowly take steps towards him as if he were a lion ready to pounce and I was just a zookeeper or something.
"I don't believe you." he says pressing his soft spoken lips against the old, bourbon glass. "you don't have too, but i've never lied to you..." I drag out the last few words "besides the past six or so months..." I mumble.
Damons eyes linger on my body, I place my hand on his cheek and he immediately melts into my hand like it was a familiar touch that he had longed for. "It was for your protection." I say quietly.
Still in denial, his looks into my eyes trying to find any part of me that was lying to him "tell me something only you would know." he whispered.
"when you accidentally killed my brother in law, and I was furious at you. You told me that you'd rather me live and be angry at you rather than you having to live another hundred lifetimes without me." I say making myself laugh at the fact that was one of my most angriest moments and I somehow managed to find some peace in it.
"Anyone could know that." he scoffed lifting his head out of my hand "fine" I say getting up and walking away "why did my dad spite me when i was younger?" he asked causing me to turn around "because he thought you stole his money, but you thought it was Stefan and you'd much rather take the hit than your little brother." I say and he stands up in disbelief.
Staring at me before running towards me and wrapping his arms around me "it is you" he says melting into me once again "I told you" I whisper.

Fandom(s):
MCU: Eternals
Persephone!Eternal!Reader & Hecate!Eternal!Reader - more of a series of oneshots for this AU. Click on this masterlist if you are interested!
"The Adventures of Loca, Blanquita, and Poco" - also part of the above masterlist, but it includes OC children of Hecate!Reader and Druig. This takes place AFTER the emergence.
Some of these are more serious, while some are more stupid.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
"Feathers & Threads Soaked in Red" - Angsty Snowbaird AU with the addition of an ARMY of OCs. Some dark themes and a LOT of angst. Do not read if you are a minor.
I am very excited about this fic! This one adds a lot of lore to the Covey, or at least I tried to add a lot of lore to the Covey. I am also making a post of moodboards for the OCs along with some headcanons.
House of the Dragon
"Bound by Embroidered Chains" - Aemond Targaryen x Seamstress!OC x Jacaerys Velaryon. Ewan Mitchell has everyone in this fandom by their THROAT.
"Warmth & Stories" - Aemond Targaryen x Wildling!Reader. This part will have smut.
The first one has serious themes and a bi-coded OC, while the second is very fluffy.
The Originals/The Vampire Diaries
I haven't figured out a title for this one, but basically it's an idea about Henrik coming back from the dead when the Other Side collapsed and he managed to stay alive. He seeks out Caroline Forbes to help him return to Klaus in NOLA.
Kol & Hecate!Reader (same one from the eternals au I wrote) - Kol basically finds a better family and teacher than his siblings
Ansel is kept alive (magical baby plot? who's she?) and Klaus tells him to watch over Caroline's mom in Mystic Falls. Liz Forbes and Ansel may or may not end up...involved
I do not support Julie Plec's lady boner for the neanderthal that is Damon Salvatore. So, if you want me to write this out, pls keep this in mind.
And that's all I can really think of!
I will tag @valeskafics , @dreaming-for-an-escape , @asa-do-your-thing, @arcielee, @lady-ashfade, @ethereal-athalia, @starogeorgina, @sylasthegrim, and anyone else who wants to join!
You don't even need to be a writer to play this game! It could also be an idea that you think is neat, and you just want to swap some thoughts!

“You wouldn't date him, right?” Those words echoed in your mind every time that you would see Caroline's eyes boring into yours. Perhaps, it was jealousy that Caroline felt overcoming her.
Maybe it was protectiveness or mainly because you were just human who were constantly being surrounded by supernaturals.
Even when she was human, she had a soft spot only for you. So ever since, Katherine killed her in the hospital, you hadn't left her visual perception. She somehow managed to gain her blood urges around you when she was starting.
Caroline didn't come to realize that the Pierce woman had helped her in a way— now that she's more stronger and faster than she was capable of before.
With new found abilities from transitioning to a vampire, she was more clingy than usual but you paid no attention to it.
That was until, Damon always started flirting with you, obviously trying to make Elena jealous. Now, Caroline can be a real bitch when she wants to and the blonde definitely tears those useless boys apart when necessary.
Currently, one of those ignorant boys happened to be Damon Salvatore at the very moment, who spent every opportunity to talk to you with either a snarky comment or witty reply.
According to the blonde, Damon was like a pimple that you couldn't just get rid of, no matter how hard you try.
Caroline didn't see it that way so a a random school night after she dropped you off, she stormed into the Salvatore house and knocked him out with vervain.
The next thing that Damon sensed was that he was harshly woken by the sound of his skin sizzling by a vampire's weakness — vervain which made him cry out in pain. Despite feeling basically burned alive, he managed to spot his ring on the floor a mere few feet away from him.
He was about to reach for it but something held him back from doing so.
Growling in annoyance as the vampire looked down at his restraints. He tried to break free from them but he only received the shackling of the chains and hissed every time he did so. Even though he was getting burned by vervain with every little movement , Damon was persistent on being set free.
“Don't.” A voice rang out from the darkness which caused the raven haired man to stop, “They're covered with vervain so you'll just weaken yourself.”
The Salvatore boy wrinkled his eyes in confusion and he lets out a pained cough, “Wait a minute, I recognize that voice. Caroline, is that you?!”
The blonde ignored the vampire's outburst and erupted from the darkness saying, “Congratulations, do you want a cupcake?” She rolled her eyes before speeding toward him, gripping tightly onto his neck, “She's mine. [Name] is mine so don’t think for one second that she’ll ever get with you.”
“Chill blondie, you're crazy besides I was just using her to make Elena jealous.” Damon remarked back, somehow managing to make sentences.
This brought fury in Caroline's eyes. How could he just use you like that?
Grabbing the back of his head hearing him groan in pain, “She is not some toy for you to use and than place her back on the shelf when she is needed again. She needs someone who can appreciate her, worships the ground that she walks on, she needs me.”
“Why do you care about her so much?” He let out a breath of relief when she lets go of his hair, painfully.
“That's really none of your business,” Caroline seethed, walking in front of him. “[Name] will never find better. She has me and not even you can stop that.” The blonde continues before grabbing his face tightly, “Now you're gonna stay in here and rot.”
“You can't do that!” Damon exclaims, “Stefan will come looking for me.”
Using her vampire speed, she was at the exit door in a instant, “And if he comes in my way, I'll kill him too.” She declares before closing the large metal door, ignoring Damon's pleas as she smirked to herself before speeding away.
Suddenly her phone binged and your name contact showed up on her phone. The blonde smiled brightly at the phone and answered your text before speeding off into the night.
“Hey, I got the text what’s going on?” Caroline had put up a fake facade, only for you. The blonde knew beforehand what this meeting was about but acted clueless about Damon's current situation.
This was becoming a daily routine for Caroline. Torture damon and leave him to fend for himself and not without tending to you first, making sure that you hadn't found someone. Sometimes if Caroline was feeling generous, she'd give him some blood.
“Damon's been missing.” Elena announced, biting her nails anxiously, “It's been a week.”
“Don't worry, we'll find him.” Caroline sat beside you, taking her hands in yours which you immediately accepted. Taking a breath of relief and she gripped it tighter.
“I'll do a locator spell.” Bonnie announces. You frown at this. Of course you wanted to find Damon but Bonnie was mentally and physically tired. Besides, she was dealing with alot on her plate at the moment.
“No, you can do it another day.” You started, “You need rest and I mean a lot of rest.”
The bennett witch was about to complain but you cut her off, “You've been overworking yourself and it's not good for you. As your bestie, I command you to get a good weeks rest.”
“[Name], I love you but I'm fine.” She shrugged you off, “The sooner I get the spell done, the sooner everyone's happy.”
“Well quite frankly I don't care what everyone else wants, bon. You're getting a week's rest and I'll be there to tend for you. End of discussion.”
Despite being a human, you had argued with the witch until she reluctantly gave into your statements. When you and the bennett witch were out of sight, Caroline stated that she's gonna go home. Leaving the two vampires there with no say in the matter and she sped off into the night.
Looks like she was gonna have to take a detour.
Once Caroline made her presence known back at the cellar where she held Damon captive. The oldest Salvatore brother noticed the girl and he began speaking, “Great you're back, now let me go!”
“Hmmm...I don't think so,” Caroline says as she struts towards the boy, “Let's do things my way, per usual. Well it’s not like you have a say in the matter .”
“Fine, whatever.”
“I already have new problems that involve you, luckily my sweetheart came through and postponed it.” The blonde shrugs, “Now, my first question. Can a vampire grow a heart back?” She pretends to think with a finger on her cheek.
“What kind of—“ Damon choked on his words as Caroline's hand budges itself into his rib cage, gripping onto his heart. “Caroline, now wait, let's talk th—“
The Forbes girl ignored the pleading vampire and with one swift pull, her bloodied hand held the Salvatore's heart. His body thudded to the dirty ground soon after.
The vampire's eyes, now lifeless still remained open could tell the tiny details before his useless death.
“Guess that solves my question.” She answered, looking at the dead heart in her hand before throwing it on the ground. Now Caroline was on her way to your house, hopefully she won't do anything that she'll regret.
Her plan involving you was pretty simple. Get you hyped up and then she'll drug you and keep you all to herself. Luckily, since the newbie vampire loves you so much, she didn't take you to the dark eery cellars that she held Damon captive in.
Instead, she had you trapped in the comfort of the Salvatore cellar. Obviously she made it a bit more roomy for you.
For the first time in her life, she was nervous. Caroline Forbes was never nervous, she was confident but only one can take away that confidence and it was you— her weakness. Anxiety bubbles up in her stomach as she waits patiently for you to wake up from your slumber.
“[Name], come on please at least eat. I'm sorry.” Caroline pleaded. Your heart broke at this. You've never seen the blonde so desperate in her life.
“How do I know that you won't hurt me?” You asked, fear evident in your tone.
“I will never hurt you, I love you.”
“I'll eat your food on one condition.” Caroline stood up at this, intrigued by what you have to say. “Was Damon telling the truth?”
She froze, “W-what did he tell you?”
“He told me that you were in love with me.”
“Maybe, he was right.” Caroline held onto the tiny bars, “I love you and I'll kill anyone who comes in our way. Just look at what happened to poor old Damon.” She caressed your face, frowning when you flinch back slightly so she drops her hand in hopes to not scare you even more.
“You're crazy Caroline.” You shook your head, leaning your forehead against the railings.
“Only crazy for you, baby.” She calmly stated, running her hands through your hair. Somehow, you felt yourself warming into her touch. Maybe you were going insane to even seek comfort in her words.
What was the word again? Stockholm Syndrome is what you're experiencing now. It's not like you praise Caroline for killing Damon but he was leading you on so karma came for his ass.
“Caroline...this is wrong.” You breathed out, shifting your face towards hers.
“Then why does it feel so right?” The blonde questioned. Within the stillness between the two of you, your lips found hers in a soft manner. The kiss felt so real to you and the lip-locking remained passionate until she bit lowly on your bottom lip. When air became a necessity for you both, you pulled away from the kiss.
Unexpectedly, her hand reached your neck and with one swift snap, barely flinching at the loud sound. The last thing that you heard was her voice, “It will be just you and me, together forever.”
Your body fell limp to the floor and all the blonde could picture right now was your betrayed expressions at her actions.
She had to do it for the sake of herself and you. Caroline wasn't thinking with her head but instead with her heart. Her heart demanded that you would be with her forever so that she could keep you safe. Seems like her heart did overcome her head in the end.
The Forbes girl waited for a few minutes before unlocking the cell door and picking up your body.
“I did it to keep us safe.” Caroline started, “I did it to make sure that we stay together.”
“You turned me into a vampire against my own will,” You cried, watching the regret overcome her eyes. “You'd think that I'd be happy with this.”
“Gosh, [name] why won't you just accept the fact that we're meant to be together.”
Shaking your head in disbelief, can't believing what you're hearing from your bestfriend. “I don't know who you are anymore Caroline.”
“Stop denying us, [name].” The blonde deadpanned and she sped off, probably to get you a blood bag. “We are meant to be whether you love or hate it.”
Her words echoed in your head as you sank on the ground beneath you. You had no chance of escaping, no chance to enjoy your life in the way you wanted. You were like a drug and Caroline was your addict and now you know that the blonde has no intentions of giving you up.

Dark obsession
• I do not in any shape or form own the vampire diaries or the originals. This is strictly for fun, don’t sue me for using the characters.
°*☆
Dark Obsession
We all knew that the allure of darkness would happen to the most innocent people.
Loud Music rang through The Streets Of The Quarter as two stunning women walk into the Party that was being thrown. Knowing very well that the salvawhore brothers and their doppelganger pet were following them closely.
Blood covering them from head to toe, they may have had a little fun with Tyler and his wolf pack of mutts. The Heretic blonde adored the screams that erupted from Tyler as she made his inside bubble out of him, right before she ripped his head off his miserable shoulders.
Bonnie ripped off head after head of the mutts, listening to their other family members scream and yell for her to stop. Enjoying the blood as it splattered on their faces the warm feeling of the blood running down her melanin skin before she licked the dribble that made its way to the corner of her lip.
Taking Tyler's head and putting it in a duffle back before leaving all of the massacred wolves to rot in the woods. Caroline wanted to send a message to the she-wolf hayley, she could smell the whore all over Tyler for the last two weeks.
Turn out they had been sleeping with each other ever since she had come to visit the wolves. So she dealt with the situation the best that she could, which in this case meant ripping Tyler to shreds. Bonnie had joined the fun after she was turned to cut her line off.
Turns out that you can’t cut off the last living Bennett witch so she turned into a heretic. They both realized they have sacrificed everything just to save little innocent Elena. Becoming a heretic made them become closer than ever as they learned new things about themselves together.
Caroline dressed as a little red riding hood -Slayer of wolves- she looked hot, and her hair was cut into a butterfly cut with bleach and tone. Bonnie dressed as Cat woman -Halle berry’s version- the real diamond claws, the whip, and skin-tight leather.
Both girls became attached at the hip when they both accidentally massacred a whole entire bar out of pure hunger, at first they were ashamed but then they realized that to live their amazingly fabulous lives they need to kill people to survive.
Now as they get to the bar of the party they both drink from the bartender, The salvawhore brothers and their pet came up behind them. Damon cleared his throat to get their attention, but both girls just scoffed and kept drinking until the man's heart stopped beating.
Dropping the body on the ground not bothering to clean the blood from their mouths they both look at the three shocked faces. “Oh I'm sorry..did you want some?” caroline said coyly as she made her and bonnie shots.
Bonnie laughs at their faces as she takes back her shots with caroline, Damon being his normal idiot self speaks up “alright blondie and bonbon funs over, time to go” they both looked at him and scoffed before turning back to a woman that just walked over to the bar.
Bonnie flashes to her as she dilated her eyes “scream for bonnie” the girl nods as bonnie sinks her fangs into her neck draining her of her life. The random girl screams at the top of her lungs making everyone look in bonnie and carolines direction.
Caroline sees everyone looking at them so she stands on the bar taking off her hood “I want you all to witness perfection as my bestie drains the life from a pathetic little human girl” she claps as everyone else mimics her while bonnie drains the girl dry.
The girl stops screaming from the lack of blood in her veins, she takes the girl's life before dropping her on the ground. Bonnie climbs onto the bar with her black YSL heels as she stands beside caroline. “Now which one of you will be my bestie's meal?” saying with a smile as people cower in fear.
One voice sticks out to her the most as his dark silhouette come from the shadows “ill do it love!” caroline beams as she snaps her finger and the people move out of his way. Four men help bonnie and caroline off of the bar towards the sexy British man.
Klaus walks out of the crowd followed by all of the originals behind him, caroline walks up to him “Neck or wrist?” pointing to both arteries that were pumping with his delicious hybrid blood. Caroline could practically taste it already.
Klaus takes off his Grey Jakcet as he moves his shirt from his shoulder“have at it sweetheart” caroline claps before snatching his face down to hers, she kisses him on his raspberry-colored lips, moving down his lips to his jaw then to his neck.
He wraps his arms around her waist as she starts kissing his pulse, sinking her fangs into his neck ever so gently. Tasting his hybrid blood just like their time in the woods and her graduation night. Using her other hand to rub the other side of his neck.
Taking only about half of a pint before pulling away from his neck, licking the skin as it turns a bright red color. His grip on her waist tightens when her bite marks start to burn, as her venom rushes through his body making him growl.
Everyone watched in pure shock some people were turned on by some blonde girl getting to drink from the Original Hybrid Klaus Mikaelson. Caroline pulls away from him as she sees visible sweat leaking down his forehead.
Whispering a spell before biting her lip so it would bleed, she slams her lips into his as he sucks on her bottom lip. Gripping her tighter while drinking vigorously trying to get more of her amazing strawberry blood.
Caroline pulls away when she thinks he's had enough, looking at the side of his neck and seeing the bite healed she looks back at him “all better, big guy” pushing his arms away from her waist as she walks back over to bonnie who had just fed and healed kol.
Grabbing bonnie hand as they intertwined their fingers, looking at the crowd, the originals, and the scooby shack idiots. They smile at them before flashing out of the party leaving everyone shocked and horny.
-At the Mikaelson Home-
Damon, stefan, and Elena had gone with the mikaelson’s back to their home to discuss what went down at the party, to say the least, they were all amazed and shocked. Kol always knew that one day bonnie would come out of her shell and become who she was meant to be.
Klaus always knew that caroline had a dark side that she hid from people well before she was turned into a vampire. Back then she was just an innocent witch who was always putting her life on the line for her “friends” now she was a badass heretic who didn’t care about what people think.
“Well, it sounds to me like they stopped saving or caring about you lot” Rebekah pointed out, not caring about the glares she got from the three mystic freaks. Kol chuckled at his sister's comment, he couldn’t help but notice the look on Elena’s face. It looked like jealousy from his view.
Stefan was just trying to make sure that they didn’t get hurt, he and Elena had broken up months ago because she loved Damon. All he wanted was to have at least one friend that wouldn’t betray him, and those friends were Caroline and Bonnie. Everyone is pulled out of their thoughts when three people bust into the front door.
“Klaus!” Marcel flashed into the living room heaving trying to calm down, klaus looked annoyed at his past protégés sudden invitation. “What can I do for you Marcellus?” He groaned while taking a sip of the bourbon that he was nursing. “I just got word that 12-night walkers and the wolves in the bayou were slaughtered”
Now everyone was staring at the three new people in the room, who would slaughter a whole pack of werewolves and 12 vampires? But then Rebekah and kol burst into laughter making everyone stare at them. “Oh how much I love the new heretics!” Rebekah exclaimed in pure joy at how the girls were so ruthless now.
“What do you mean by that?” Davina was so confused as to why the two youngest originals were laughing at something so serious. “You’ll meet them soon, I just texted them to come here” Rebekah smiled looking at her phone ignoring the gasps from the mystic freaks.
Hayley had just come into the room with baby Hope in her arms “can you keep it down I’m trying to put Hope to sleep” she bounced Hope gently as she was fussing at Hayley. A giant gust of wind blew into the room as a blonde and brunette came into the room with blood on their arms and torsos.
Caroline saw Hope and wanted to grab her but her hands were covered in blood, Klaus noticed her not-so-clean hands and flashed her a wet paper towel. She blushed at him being all soft around her, she kissed his cheek before wiping her hands off.
Walking towards Hayley she reaches her arms out to the fussy toddler, Hope looks at her and leans over in her arms. She gently rocked Hope while humming a song softly, Hope started to doze off before fully falling asleep on Caroline’s shoulder. Everyone but hayley watched in awe as Caroline put the fussy baby in the bassinet that was in the corner of the room.
Before Putting her game face back on she whispered a spell so that Hope couldn’t hear anything that would happen in the living room. Turning back around she stalks towards Hayley with a deadly look in her eyes “Jackson said that he loved you” with a sinister smirk on her face as Hayley’s eyes grew wide.
“Oh and before I forget!” She flashed out of the house to her car before bringing in a bloody duffle bag plopping it at Hayley’s feet. “Next time think twice before you cross me!” She flipped her hair and walked over to Bonnie who had a smirk on her face. Hayley bent down and slowly unzipped the bag, gasping as tears ran down her cheeks.
Everyone was wondering what was in the duffle bag, kol decided to see for himself what it was that made her cry. He walked over to the bag and looked down at the head of Tyler Lockwood, he tried hard to not laugh but couldn’t hold it in much longer. Bursting into laughter while looking at Caroline.
“What did he do?” He gasped in between breaths from laughing so hard, Caroline smirked ignoring the sobbing coming from the she-wolf. “Little miss she-wolf and Tyler were sleeping together, so not only did we kill his pack but also Hayley’s,” Bonnie said nonchalantly as she walked over to the couch to sit down.
Klaus wanted to see the head for himself so he got up and opened the bag to see it was truly Tyler’s head in the bag. Elena was shocked and pissed at both Bonnie and Caroline “what's gotten into you two?” She shouted while standing up along with Damon, Caroline and Bonnie looked pissed off.
“Elena if you speak again and nobody addresses you…” caroline paused as she flashed in front of Elena, she leaned into her ear before whispering “ I will tear out your spine and make Damon wear it as a necklace!” it was so sinister that i sent chills down the blonde in the corner of the room's spine.
Caroline turned away to a kol who had his hand up to high fived. Caroline gave a fake smile and went to sit beside Bonnie who was getting tired of being there. Kol put his hand down before flashing beside bonnie, he pulled her close to him as she tried to get away but his hold was definite.
Bonnie giggled when tried to tickle her, she was ticklish near her side and kol was using that against her. Davina was staring at the smiling couple with envy, she had gotten closer to kol but every time she asked him on a date he rejected her. Always saying that he values his life and that his feisty witch would kill him.
Caroline had secretly sent a message to her favorite doppelganger about elijah and hayley being together. Letting a smirk fall upon her sweet evil face, hearing a certain set of stilettos on the concrete she gave bonnie a smirk before smiling wickedly. Davina is about to say something to bonnie about her and kol, but the doorbell rang.
Hayley got up to answer the door, just as planned she opens the door slowly. Katherine has her head down before smelling the she-wolf, hayley looks at her with a raised brow. Before she could say anything Katherine's hand was plunged into her chest.
Hayley gasped as she gripped Katherine's hand trying to get her to release her grip on her heart. Katherine smirks before pulling her closer towards her ear “Trick or Treat doggy!” she yanks Hayley's heart out of her chest.
Letting her body fall to the ground with a loud thud, walking over her body and into the house with Hayley's heart still in her hand. Coming into the living room looking at everyone, some had wide eyes, some with opened mouths, but two looks that made her smile.
“Kitty kat nice of you to join us!” bonnie was being cheeky towards her new favorite doppelganger as caroline smiled brightly at the heart still resting in her perfectly manicured hands. “Well you know I couldn’t resist a good Halloween prank!” she threw the heart towards the ground.
Walking towards the bar she grabbed herself a drink before sitting in the corner of the room silently observing. Camille went to sit beside klaus, basically sitting on his lap, trying to show the other blonde that he was hers.
Caroline and bonnie rolled their eyes, caroline knew if she wanted to have him all she had to say was that she was ready to stand by his side. Davina was watching kol as he was fittling with bonnies fingers while she wasn’t paying attention to him.
Getting irritated she walks over towards bonnie “who do you think you are?You can’t just come in here like you own him!” jealousy filled her vocals as she was staring at the pair sitting on the couch. Bonnie laughed as did kol, looking at her like she was crazy.
Bonnie stood up as kol was still holding her hand “I don’t have to own him, Davina! I just have to be better than you, which i already am!” smirking at her facial expression before sitting back down and spelling her mouth to stay shut.
Klaus was uncomfortable as camille was rubbing his head and shoulders, while she nearly grinded on him. He was looking at anyone for help, that is until his eyes landed on caroline who flashed towards camille. “If your trying to make him hard for you, your failing! Now move he’s clearly uncomfortable!”
Caroline pulled her up by her arms before pushing her away from a now relieved klaus, camille scoffed as she looked between caroline and bonnie. “You two are pathetic, using the mikaelsons men as pawns! Your both just greedy for attention, especially you Bonnie!”
Caroline was now clenching her fist as the lights started to flicker “ What mommy and daddy never loved you enough so you go after kol for attention?” bonnie had tears in her eyes as she looked at kol before scooting away from him.
Kol growled at camille before pulling her back towards him, she fought but in the end he won, sinking his head in the side of her neck inhaling her sweet maple glaze scent. Camiile scoffed again “look at you so needy!” she laughed at bonnie as she looked at the others to see if they would join in on the laugh.
Nobody else laughed because before they could blink camilles head was ripped off of her shoulders as he body hit the ground. Looking at her body then the person standing over her they watched as caroline was seething angrily through her teeth looking at the now dead blonde.
A series of gasps filled the room, elena was staring at caroline as her shoulders were moving up and down heavily while still holding the blondes head in her grip. Caroline finally dropped her head as klaus got up and came behind her “come on love, lets get you cleaned up”
Caroline looked at bonnie who gave her a nod saying that she was safe with kol, looking back at klaus who had both of her wrists in his hand she nods. They both walk out of the room and flash up towards his bedroom.
Klaus let her shower in his bathroom before giving her one of his shirts and some of rebekahs leggings, “welp looks like your gonna have to find a new blonde!” she joked while they walked down the stairs, he looked at her with a raised brow before stopping at the middle of the steps.
“ you know that ive only always wanted you sweetheart.” he moved some hair out of her face as she blushed “well i guess you can show me New Orleans now!” she smirked before heading down the stairs. Klaus chuckled before following her.
Looking at the living room a lot of people were missing, but klaus, kol, bonnie, caroline, rebekah, stefan, katherine, and elijah. “We should watch a scary movie” caroline said cheerly at rebekah who beamed and flashed off to get the movies.
Katherine sat beside elijah who didn’t scoot or move but wrapped his arms around her waist pulling her closer, stefan and rebekah sat together as she leaned her head on his shoulder, klaus and caroline leaned onto each other, and kol and bonnie snuggled up as they watched jason.
It was a Great Heretic Halloween Of Course.

Caroline’s letter to Klaus after he died
Dearest Klaus,
I have often pondered about the words that vacated your delicate lips the night of my graduation. The way your unbridled words echoed of finality— of faith, of certainty, scared me more than I could ever admit. For someone who has lived for as long as you have, I was convinced that, for you, love is nothing but a whim— a passage made of legends and myths, but it seems as though I was mistaken. Your promise stirred something in me, however futile it was to stop it or deny it, the veracity of your words has already been embedded within the depths of my past and intersected in my future. It made me wonder of the kind of love I knew when I was young and the love I knew until before I met you. To say it left me questioning was an understatement. It shook the foundation of what the convention of my humanity knew of what love is like. So, the kind of love I knew— the kind I have only received before you, unveiled before me. It was demanding, urging, begging for me to take a quick glance at where I’m at now. Honestly? I did not like what I saw, for I glimpsed at what became a haunting apparition of my fickle attempt at love.
For a while I had lost my balance.
I tried patching up the space you have pervaded, tried to wash off the quintessence of your being but an inkling feeling forbade that, as much as I want to, I cannot.
For a while the definition of love has eluded me. I thought as early as seventeen I knew what the right kind of love is, but you have proven me wrong, time and time again. I have never imagined I would have felt a love as intense as you have made me feel. In the process of it all, I have opened a treasure chest brimming with the love I had missed out on— the love I deserved.
But in our long and treacherous journey of hide and seek, of cat and mouse, I have learned that love does not have to be a battlefield. That it can thrive in its simplicity— in its realness. That it's not just in those loudest grandiose gestures you get a glimpse of what love is like— sometimes, if you're lucky, it's nestled between the gaps of silence where with a glance, a smile, a touch, love becomes palpable. It's in those quiet moments where without words, without any trivial human convention love is the loudest. The charged gaze, the thick yearning, the earnest peruse. It's within those unsaid declarations that love often resides, hovering in the air, crisp, placid, simple—
But as easy it is to love unembellished, to love in silence, to love by only shared looks of adoration— love slips between the crevices of your fingertips, gone forever. A love that surpasses all other loves, a love that was felt so intensely, so gracefully, a love so good to be true often fades slowly, inconspicuous like the scattered ashes of you. The only remnant that your love existed, or you did in our own little bubble — is me. In the end, I was left desolate to read, reminisce, and dream of every caress, every kiss, every smile to finally define whatever we had, even if it's without certainty or confirmation or the words to lock it as what everyone suspected we had that you and I never got the courage to admit. Even if the silence that once was hearty when you were alive now turns into gaping blackholes that stretched infinitely, with no traces of lightness or requite adoration echoing back, I do not regret saying this now. I loved you. However, sometimes love can wait a lifetime— enveloped in the promise of "I'll be your last”, but time has always been cruel. It deters any good, any stability you have had for yourself. It most certainly is no one's friend. It snatches the future you envision for yourself. When love is at your doorstep—waiting, longing, with arms wide open to welcome you home; it betrays you. When the stars have aligned and suddenly you both want the same thing you can never see eye to eye on before and yet with a blink you instantaneously lose the person you thought you'd spend the rest of your lifetime with. In the end, it all feels misguided, and life and time has other plans, and you have nothing to do but let the wave wash you away along with the current. Beguiling as it may to have been loved by you, to have exchanged fleeting yet indelible romance— you have broken your promise. You intended to be my last, but I became yours. Blame it on fate or destiny but the truth still remains, you loved me too early, and I loved you too late. But it is how love is, isn't it? It arrives exactly when it's supposed to and leaves exactly when it must. Maybe in the next life, I get to have my answers but until then I'll leave our love at nigh. Love, Caroline
