Fourth Blog Post
The artist that I am researching is Jordan Davis Robles. Jordan Davis Robles is a photographic artist based in Boston, Massachusetts. Jordan Davis Robles works as a Gallery manager in Boston, Massachusetts. Her recent works are based on family dynamics, the idea of home, and her personal history. She graduated with a BFA from East Carolina University in 2018. Her project, The Nuclear Contstuct, is delving into her bringing memory and reaction to the surface of generic family photos through alteration and other materials. Most of her works are ideas of what a normal family should be and how we carry those familial traumas with us. Jordan Davis Robles’ artworks use collage, digital manipulation, and new images based on past histories. The images are to be shown as a way to explore and cope with different identities. Looking at the photos of her work, there were two photos that caught my eye. One of the photographs called Then the Woman was Consumed really captured my eyes because it looked as though someone was going through something in their life; but there was pills that helped them copped through their darkness. I also think the pills could have been their ends meet because of how overwhelming they take over the container that the pills are placed in. It could also be how many they took to cope with their trauma. The next photograph is called Angels Who Lose Their Wings is such an interesting photograph. I really have a connection with this one because it feels as though they are tied down through family expectations or just their darkness alone. I think you always try to be so perfect without showing that you are in pain while those around you aren’t doing as bad as you. I feel like maybe you chipped your wings so that people around you who you care deeply about could fly freely.
