There's something about Monica holding it against Carol for not coming back while Maria was dying.

And then having the mind meld that clearly showed that Carol was there when Monica literally could not be there because she'd been Snapped.

(Because Carol DID come back, and Monica didn't know. Couldn't have known. Monica woke up to a missing five years and just assumed Carol had been gone the whole time like she was ALWAYS gone.)

About how Carol realized what she'd lost while Monica was gone and wanted to get in contact with her but Monica kept pushing that away and down and absolutely refusing to process it. (About what this already means in terms of Carol wanting to live up to Monica's expectations of her - to be every bit the hero Monica expected her to be and refusing to come back until she was - and then deciding that wasn't even worth it if it meant something happened to Monica while she was gone.)

About how Monica said she would absolutely do the same thing Wanda did to get her mom back and then succeeded where Wanda failed - crossing the multiverse, finding her mom, except that her mom isn't her mom. Not there.

About how Carol absolutely refuses to ever believe that Monica is permanently gone, even though everything seems to suggest she is (after the Snap, after Monica ended up in a different reality). About how she holds onto that hope and determination because she wants to give it to someone else (because she can't believe that she's failed again, because she can fix this mistake just like she will eventually fix the one on Hala).

About how you'd think Kamala was being set up to get adopted by Carol just like every other younger super in the MCU (Billy and Tommy as the exception, but even then they're literal kids of two supers so), to be a way for Carol to do right by a kid who idolizes her the way Monica idolized her, but really Kamala and her family adopt Carol and not the other way around.

I just love how people when trying to defend Carol will stay stuff like "Amy had food, shelter and an allowance" as if that... that's the only thing a parent is expected to give a child?

Like, sure, I suppose that's a bar some parents don't clear, and allowance is nice, granted, but to act as though she didn't fuck up Amy by, you know, not showing her any love or affection, etc is absurd.

The boiling coffee cup went flying across the room, cracking onto the first thing it hit and splatting the dark liquid that was left inside all over the brand new tile of the research room. She hadn't even noticed anyone's presence until the sound of surprise hit her ears and the fight immediately left her, heated energy dissipating from her palms by the second. "Sorry, I —." Carol paused, unsure of what she was going to say, how she was going to explain that after spending days looking over facts and figures from some of the greatest minds Earth had left, from the likes of Bruce Banner and Steven Strange and Hank Pym, she'd officially resorted to throwing coffee cups across newly built rooms. She could practically feel Nick Fury's eye rolling from wherever he was at that moment.

"I didn't hear you," The blonde finally offered as a lame excuse for throwing the coffee mug. In reality, the reason she threw the mug had less to do with the intruder and more to do with the frustration building inside of her every time she realized she was no closer to finding a way to get Monica back than she had been months ago. She and Fury had pulled in some of Earth's greatest minds, but they still weren't the man who somehow figured out time travel.
