Word Cont: feeling not real. on Ao3
"I got go fast"
"all most there" Ragatha was brewing the perfect tea. she was very focus on this little project that she didn't notice Pomni knocking or the fact both Caine and Pomni pop there heads in her room. "what is she doing?", "it look to be something about tea" The love birds were confuse what Ragatha was doing and walk over closer to get a better look. "oh Pomni I didn't hear you come in" Ragatha say finally noticing Pomni and not really acknowledging Caine as pouring out the tea she was brewing. "what brings you here today, wanting to do another cooking lesson, eat some treats" Ragatha says now placing some snacks around the table she have in her room, "um actually I wanted talk about something", "oh well I'll lean a ear", "well I was reading this book, and there some innocently" Pomni say pulling out the book, "why didn't you go to Gangle with this, you know she the main one that reads a lot", "well....I'm still kind of on edge with her and stuff, anyway I needed to ask you about Seabreeze" Ragatha look over to Pomni with a face of just disgust when hearing her name. "what do you need to know about that weird one", "well do remember how long she was mean to me" Pomni ask Ragatha which makes her ponder for awhile. "if I remember correctly, it was until the play Gangle had made us do, the one when you and Seabreeze was playing sisters in it, and the hour long joke section me and Avery have, oh all of us were getting off script that day" Ragatha chuckles a bit about those soft memories, "huh, even your memories she wasn't still mean why would Cir-","no, don't say that name here" Ragatha cut off Pomni before she could finish her sentence. "huh, why not?", "....because", "because why?", "BECAUSE I say so" Ragatha sternly say to Pomni, which makes her flinch a bit. Caine got between Ragatha and Pomni physically still eating a cookie. "ugh, I'm sorry, but just reframe from saying her name" Ragatha say walking away from the two of them, going to sit in a chair. "did something happen between you two?", "....I bit.....but I don't quite want to talk about it, anyway how far are you in that book?", "at chapter 3" Caine chimes in with his enthusiasm, which make Ragatha glare at him, but she shrug it off afterwards. "hand the book here, I'll read the next chapter", "really?!", "yup, I mean if I get a good look at the writing I would be better pin pointing the innocently" Ragatha says softy taking the book from Pomni, then both Pomni and Caine sit down at the table, as Ragatha began to read. "Hehehe I'm not going in there" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Cirtri was walking backwards not wanting to go into the next level, "what's wrong baby sis, the Rabbit got you all fluster after the play" Seabreeze tease Cirtri which makes her face blush. "look unlike you and Avery I don't do flirting and stuff well, oh and have you notices after we finish the level, one of us get a kiss!", "just means it your turn, so pucker up" Avery says joining in the teasing which makes Cirtri blush harder. meanwhile Mio was in the background thinking for a moment, "um well what if you didn't engage in it" The other three look at Mio, "think about it, there still bots. so if you don't engage in the flirting maybe you won't get kissed" Mio say with a smile, this eases Cirtri mind a bit, "but the tread", "I want see this man kiss my sister sloppy style" Both Avery and Seabreeze contesting the idea Cirtri not engaging in the flirting, "Mio help me! these to people are crazy" Cirtri cry, running over to Mio and clinging to her. "agree, I'll protect you from these two degenerate" Both Seabreeze and Avery feel the hurt from Mio words. the party after having a questionable conversation go into The Rabbit level.
The room was dark but there was a path that was leading them down somewhere. The party walked down the path to see chairs and table around in front a screen, “huh strange, well Cirtri do yo-”,” nope” Cirtri says pulling Mio to sit next to her so she didn’t have deal with her sister trying to convince her flirt with the Ai, “well then, this seem to be some type of karma” Seabreeze says sitting down, between Mio and Avery. As everyone was seated the front screen started to play. “Welcome to the Animation studio, here we animate characters for silly stories” the screen shows an animation of a mouse closely looking like Minne mouse walking and running as saying these words. “Now I have break you in, now show your attention to your very handsome animation teacher Jax” as the screen says that Jax walks out with the screen showing hands clapping…Mio, Seabreeze, and Avery join in the clapping, meanwhile Cirtri just give Jax a look, [man is clearly stroking his ego] Cirtri thought in her head. “Why thank you, you guys didn’t need to clap for me” Jax says with a grin knowing he likes it when they join along the clapping, “anyway welcome to my animation studio students! Today I’ll teach each one of you how to sketch, draw, and animate, like me”, “so that way a whole ego stroke” Citri blurted the process to blush because she realized that was said out loud and not in her head, Jax just chuckle for he find it amusing. Mio was softly rubbing Cirtri back to try comforting her. “I may stroke my ego a bit but who wouldn’t if you can do what I do, now let's start on the sketching phase” Jax was softly teasing Cirtri on her words which made her blush more.
The group was sketching out what they wanted to do as Jax was watching over them and giving each one of them tips on how to do things. “THAT IT I'M GOING COMMIT WAR CRIMES AGAINST HANDS” Seabreeze yells, angry about the hands she can’t sketch on the paper. “Have you tried drawing circles” Mio says calmly, she clearly was also having a hard time and instead of threatening hands she opted for drawing hand circles. “no…I haven’t…I’ll try but doesn't mean I’m not going to commit war crimes”, “don’t do that” Cirtri chime in trying to keep her sister doing something dumb. Jax was busy helping Avery to even defuse the situation, not like he would do that anyways. “So if I sketch the movement then draw the frame in twos, then just make the in between frames after it would look better”, “yup I’m glad you're getting it” Jax says to Avery who was smiling. Jax finishes checking up with Avery and turns around, and sees a bit of Seabreeze sketches, “I thought you were making an animation about love?”, “I was until hands had personally slitted me” Seabreeze said with a smile, Jax gave a small worried expression, Mio looked up from her sketching, “trust me she likes this all the time”, “ I am not!” Seabreeze contested Mio's statement, and it seemed they were busy having a small argument. Jax finally check up on Cirtri, who the whole time was quiet and kept to herself being in this room, seem Cirtri…was actually good at this, almost it was something she did quite frequency. “Well seem I don’t have guild you to much in this process”, Cirtri jumps a bit for being spooked by Jax, “J-jax how long were you behind me” Cirtri stutter that make Jax smirk, “what little lady didn’t notices little old me behind her~” Jax tease knowing full well he just walked up behind her, “how would I, your so busy helping the other, plus someone need to stop trying to commit war crimes against hand” Cirtri says looking dead straight at her sister, who soft look away for being call out. “Well don’t think to much about her, like look how the frame work you did” Jax says point out the frames Cirtri drew, “eh I mean I could of done better”, “I think you did great” Jax give Cirtri a smile and thumbs up, it make her blush a bit, “um thank you” Cirtri says before going back to her drawings,
After hours pass, everyone finish their animation, and had to show each one to the class, everyone was in a different mood after doing this, Seabreeze was so tired that she couldn’t keep her eyes open, Avery hand hurted so much from holding the pen, Mio didn’t even want to even look at paper, Cirtri was fine tho, if anything she was only one beside Jax who was high on energy. “Alright Class after the long vigorous session of drawing, and then putting the frames together, here what each of you did” Jax says clicking a button on a remote, and turns down the light and turns on the screen. The screen plays each player's animations one by one, at first the other three weren't really into this but seeing the motion of their drawings seem to make each one of them light up a bit. As the last animation comes to the end, all the players clap in that room. “Ok I can see why you animate a lot Cirtri” Seabreeze says with a smile, which make Cirtri give back a sheepish smile, “I think I’m going to do more of this, might be a lot of work but seeing the end product is fun” Avery says getting up and walking to the door, “I don’t think I’ll do this again but I would love to have a team animators” Mio says following Avery. Cirtri and Seabreeze follow as well, but before Cirtri could get far Jax taps her shoulder. “Hey I want to give you something” Jax says giving Cirtri a mantis. “Oh I almost forgot about this part” Cirtri says, happy Jax stops her before all of them left, “that isn't the only thing I wanted to give to you” Jax says softly grabbing Cirtri’s left hand, then giving it a small kiss, “thank your sister for that one” Jax says walking away from the fluster Cirtri as giving fingers guns.
The others were already outside waiting for Cirtri, she finally walked out of the room. “Oh did you remember to g-”, “why, why did you tell him” Cirtri cut off her sister, she was extremely fluster, “oopsie” Seabreeze says knowing full well that wasn’t an accident, this make Cirtri disconnect from the game, and not even a moment Seabreeze clench her stomach. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Celia had punched Celica in real life, “fuck!” Celica exclaimed in sorta pain, “don’t act like that you know I can’t hit you that hard” Celia says walking into her room leaving her sister in the small pain she causes. “You're so petty Celie” Celica says before Celia disappears into her room. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ragatha finishes reading up the last words in the chapter. “Wow…that was something”, “they kept up with the trend”, “Caine really” Pomni says, giving Caine a ‘really’ look at him. “What, seems that was something important if she wrote it down” Caine points out, “The human has a point, getting to know this one she may seem shy and closed off but she always has reason what she writes down” Ragatha chimes in agreeing with Caine. “But why, that the question, the parts about people being kisses, writing about Seabreeze general anger, oh and only seem talk to Avery when others are in the conversation” Pomni points out all the weird things to her, “Look we’ll never know for she d-” Ragatha stop herself for a moment, “gone” Caine pick up Ragatha changes of words, but couldn’t be the fact she care about Caine feelings so what was up?. “Anyway, I wouldn’t be able to verify if any of this is true” Ragatha says looking more in the book, “oh the part about Cirtri placing the spoon wrong isn’t true, it was a knife she misplace” Ragatha says pointing out that part of the story, “but everything else is right, even…that kiss” Ragatha shiver in disgust saying that. “Well this adds more answers than questions…maybe we should go try talking to Gangle” Caine suggests, this makes Pomni hesitate but then she nods, “yah, she might have a better idea of some things” Pomni says, not really wanting to go to Gangle’s room. “If it would make you guys feel better I could call her up and monitor everything” Ragatha says offering her help to their quest, “really thank you so much Ragatha”, Pomni says giving Ragatha a hug, this makes Ragatha smile a bit, then it fades away, “well let me go call Gangle now” Ragatha says pulling away from Pomni and going to her phone.
“With Ragatha help this mission will be much more easier right Caine” Pomni says to Caine, but he was blanking out, seem focusing on Ragatha actions, “hey Pomni do you think Cirtri and Ragatha had a thing?”, “um no, I mean could of been very good friends, Cirtri did have a easy time making a friends with us”, “hmm, the way Ragatha treat the idea of her is like a ex” Caine says crossing his arms, Ragatha didn’t hear any of this conversation for she was on the phone with Gangles, this does make Pomni think about the way she acted a bit. “I think you have a point” Pomni says looking at Caine, who looks back, but they didn’t really have enough information about it to press Ragatha on it, so they drop it for now.

London 1977
Host: United Kingdom Participants: 18 Voting method: 12-point system (juries only)
Winner: Marie Myriam - L'oiseau et l'enfant Country: France Points: 136 (66.7% of highest score possible) Language: French
General Overview:
1977 is one of my favourite contests ever. Every song has an identity, or a creative idea, or a catchy melody. Some of them aren't executed well, but most of them are. The BBC also experimented with camera angles and filters, and the staging became a more noticeable aspect around this time.
So the UK hosts Eurovision for the 3rd time within the past 6 contests (and 6th time overall). At least they're the reigning champs this time. However, due to a BBC strike, the show was delayed by a month. And as such, there are no postcards this year – instead the camera points to the audience for a while... which isn't the most stimulating visual.
I really like the stage design though. The orchestra is situated in a circular pit in the back, with a domed archway overhead. While at the front, there's 3 overlapping layers of circular platforms that form steps. The stage lighting also uses warm colours.
The opening video displays the British, Scottish, Welsh, Northern Irish, and English (royal) flags one at a time, with famous landmarks from each country in between. While the interval shows the artists arriving at a restaurant via a double decker bus. Once inside, Mr Acker Bilk, with his famous clarinet and his jazz band, entertain them. Then, back in the studio, there's a set of rotating flags on stage.
The presenter is Angela Rippon, who kept repeating and translating votes incorrectly. There were also multiple scoreboard errors that needed fixing. Israel nearly hung up before announcing their 4 points. And Greece and France both gave points to more than 10 songs. What a mess. This is because, before 1980, the spokespersons announced their votes according to the running order instead of numerical order, which was confusing. The voting itself was a 3-way race between France, UK, and Ireland. The UK lead at first, but France had a secure lead towards the end.
The language restriction rule was reinstated in '77, although Belgium and Germany were given exemptions since they had already selected their entries. While I love hearing songs in native languages, I don't think it should be a requirement. It disproportionately benefitted songs in English and French back then. Although many countries would circumvent that disadvantage by using English song titles anyways (or a proper noun.)
Otherwise, Sweden returns and Yugoslavia are gone for a few years.
Ireland: The Swarbriggs Plus Two - It's Nice to Be in Love Again The brothers are back with two extra partners. The verses have a relaxing, sunny, '70s sound, right from the horn intro. They include a soft “ah-uh-ah” from the ladies. While the chorus has a dramatic “YOUR. HEART. IS. FILLED.” hook. But this is too plain, saccharine, and innocently cheerful for me. The chorus, while memorable, is annoying; especially when it reduces to a plinking piano. The lyrics lack depth or insight. And I dislike when they step side-to-side, hold hands and twist. Otherwise, the orchestra resumes mid-chorus after a buzzy instrument and a drum bit. And the final chorus is more bombastic.
Monaco: Michèle Torr - Une petite française This is basically two different songs fused together, but it works really well. The verses are a minimalist folk guitar ballad, where Michèle's voice firmly echoes across the building, while her face is shown in a fuzzy filter. It has a dreamy effect. Then, after a few drum pats, the chorus turns carnval-ish, where the tambourine and busy strings take over. It's a catchy chorus. Then a somber string dive leads to the next verse. In the lyrics, Michèle can't relate to high-profile celebrities. She's just a normal “little Frenchwoman” who abandoned her childhood to move to Paris to pursue singing. And she doesn't have public drama.
Netherlands: Heddy Lester - De mallemolen There's a warm atmosphere, while Heddy delivers vocals and infectious smiles. But there's stronger entries this year. The flamingo pink outfits are also a choice. There's an intense, Disney-esque intro, then the verses are gentle, like the dawn of a new day or a fresh start. While the camera tilts downward at the beginning. The chorus is slow but kinda epic (where the drums come in); it sounds like bravely welcoming and facing what the day brings. The lyrics use a merry-go-round metaphor for life's journey, and Heddy really extends that metaphor. She encourages us to keep riding it (ie. to move forward in life).
Austria: Schmetterlinge - Boom Boom Boomerang One of the earliest instances of crazy staging. The male members have caricatures of greedy executives on their backsides. Beatrix grabs their money. And the chorus has a silly dance routine – the marionette arms, kangaroo hands, and leg bends. The chorus sounds silly too, with the xylophone and nonsense lyrics (and Australian stereotypes). The song is about how capitalism creates shallow music; in all genres. The nonsense lyrics are an example of this. Half the song is in English too. It's an amusing performance, and the pre-chorus is really strong, but the band's mocking, deriding tone isn't fun. Otherwise, there's an a cappella intro, some drum slam moments, a key change, and a couple fake endings (“who!”). And the verses start off circus-y, then follow a jaunty drum beat.
Norway: Anita Skorgan - Casanova A cute, basic bop that's solidly catchy and uplifting. The song has just enough charm, and it has a bouncy rhythm. After the intro, it's eager to get going, with the sawing violins and the cymbals cutting off. Then, after a drum transition, the funky guitar scratches and the twinkles take over. And there's a “plunge” upon the chorus. In the lyrics, Anita is worried when her Casanova husband goes out alone. The song has an upbeat tone though. On stage, they all wear tall brown boots lol.
Germany: Silver Convention - Telegram The Silver Convention are known for the disco hits “Fly, Robin, Fly” and “Get Up and Boogie”. I much prefer “Telegram” though. The telegraph beeps that are produced on stage are creative. The “Stop!”s are associated with telegrams. The hands on hips/on each other movements are hypnotic (they also twist and snap, and their outfits are very '70s). And the song is decently catchy and very disco. The pre-chorus is great, with the stomping drums. While the chorus relaxes with the smooth strings. In the lyrics, they send a telegram to their ex, hoping he'll return. Old technology is so quaint.
Luxembourg: Anne-Marie B - Frère Jacques Left-field entries were rare back then. The juries didn't get this - the trippy atmosphere, the spaced-out talking melody, the dark lyrics. The song flips the “Frère Jacques” nursery rhyme, where Anne-Marie begs her brother to wake up and save her from his 11 male friends (she names them all) abusing her. She's scared and powerless. Her vocal style shows her trauma. Meanwhile, the backing repeats the nursey rhyme and some “oh oh oh”s. There's also ominous church bells, funky guitar scratches, and cluttered drums. The song has a disco-y wall of sound, and it feels trapped in a moment.
Portugal: Os Amigos - Portugal no coração The folk band praises the kindness of Portugal, despite also blaming Portugal for their brother's death (the revolution was still recent). They just hope for a better future. Musically, the song doesn't have much going on. The verses are soft, and the first one has a seaside guitar. Then, after a sudden bang, the tempo jumps. The pre-chorus has funky scratches and horn stops. But the chorus is a mess with too many (irritating) voices at once and a “blah” instrumental. The “Port-u-gal” hooks get annoying. And the song's second half is monotonous. The ending is a slowdown into a tense finish.
United Kingdom: Lynsey de Paul & Mike Moran - Rock Bottom I don't find the UK overrated for once! I love that they fully commit to the 1920s homage. The piano, the simple lyrics, and the suits evoke that era. The conductor using his cane as a baton is hilarious. And the staging is very memorable. Lynsey looks at a newspaper displeased. Then she and Mike sit back-to-back on separate grand pianos. They miss each other's glances. They answer each other's questions. And they act like a broken couple. Sure, this song is ~90% chorus, but it's insanely catchy. The piano and drum slams drive things. There's a piano break. The backing echoes are nice. And this entry is very British. It gives winner vibes, but France was more special.
Greece: Paschalis, Marianna, Robert & Bessy - Mathima solfege This is a fan fave, but I just find the chorus, arm movements, and head tilts annoying. Although I appreciate their enthusiastic performance. And the chorus is creative in how they rapidly name what each note in the melody is (in the “do re mi” scale). The metronome in the first verse fits the theme. While the lyrics are about music's presence in life. The song changes tempo between the verses and chorus. The first verse also has a glittery instrument. And the chorus starts with a rumble, then it moves to a bouncy cymbal, and it stumbles midway. On stage, they wear matching purple-blue outfits.
Israel: Ilanit - Ahava Hi Shir Lishnayim Israel's debutant returns. Ilanit delivers another stellar vocal performance, but “Ey Sham” was better. This one constantly expands and contracts, even in the middle of a verse or chorus, alternating between a gentle ballad and an epic march. The first verse suddenly jolts, then it re-softens. While the chorus goes loud-quiet-loud. But I find it effective. The clarinet is nice too. “Yashiru... hashamaim” is a solid hook. And I like the chorus transition, especially the second time with the deep drums, which leads to Ilanit's long note over the backing singers. She sings the bridge over them as well. The lyrics are about singing a love song for two people.
Switzerland: Pepe Lienhard Band - Swiss Lady Unlike Austria, this is pure fun. The song embraces Swiss stereotypes by including an alphorn, piccolo and yodels. It transports me to the Alps. The lyrics are also funny, where the “Swiss Lady” they're describing is actually an alphorn. And the structure is effective. It's a soft rock thing. There's an alphorn intro. The drums trip over mid-verse. The chorus stops multiple times for a piano slide. The piccolo responses stick in my brain. The post-chorus releases the yodels and alphorn, ending in some “ayum Swiss Lady”s. And there's a clapping breakdown. On stage, they wear white suits and hats.
Sweden: Forbes - Beatles Sweden returns with the most underwhelming entry of '77. The UK were hosting, so they chose a song about the Beatles. This band also has 4 (starring) members, but they don't sound or dress like the Beatles. The brass is really out of place. The “yeah yeah yeah”s, which are a reference to “She Loves You”, are sung lifelessly and incorrectly. The part where they list the Beatles' first names is cringe. And, aside from the drum roars and crashes, and the background “ahhh”s, the song is just... boring? The lyrics reminisce over Beatlemania, saying their legacy will be remembered.
Spain: Micky - Enséñame a cantar Spain delivers a banjo jamboree, with some handclaps, excessive “la la la”s, and a dude blowing a jug. Plus some distracting whistles. I feel like I'm in Mississippi. The 3 backing singers are fun to watch, especially during the triple drum bangs. But Micky lacks stage presence. And I don't really like banjo. The outro is okay though. In the lyrics, he meets a banjo-playing girl (the one on stage) that teaches him to sing to fix his sad heart.
Italy: Mia Martini - Libera Mia's scratchy voice is raw but grating at times. The song is about female liberation, where she asserts her freedoms (to speak, feel, think for herself; to make her own choices; etc). But she can still love someone while being independent. I like how the song alternates between a peaceful protest (with the shakers and drum pounds), and the smoother parts (with the backing “ooh”). It has a '60s sound, right from the intro. There's also some busier drum bits, a hand drum breakdown, and the ending is less restrained. There's an overlaying visual effect as well.
Finland: Monica Aspelund - Lapponia This chorus is insane: the “HEY!” kick-off, the sloshing cymbals, the “ma na na”s, the handclaps, the explosive “LAPPONIA! BOM BOM” showcase (with Monica's wrist twists), and the piano jingle transition. The song even opens with that chorus. Then the verses have brief backing muttering. And the bridge takes unexpected turns – from a ballad moment, to a clamorous brass break (where she glides her arms), to a couple of “ahhhhh”s, and finally an 8-second whistle note!!! That hurt my ears. The song then quiets before the last chorus, and before the outro. The lyrics describe a witch from Lapland whose spell beckons a man. Monica's enthusiastic stage presence is amazing here.
Belgium: Dream Express - A Million in One, Two, Three This sounds '70s. The instrumental is light and stress-free, and the song is filled with hooks. The verses have a call-and-response, some whistles, and some “tooba-dup-dup-doo-doo”s. While the pre-chorus build-up is my fave part. But the chorus sounds like a TV ad jingle, and the song is kinda corny. There's plenty of arm choreo though! The pre-chorus has a whole routine. They also move one by one in the chorus. They lift their hands for the “HEY HEY HEY”s (and to signal the orchestra for the key change). And the dude “conducts” the other 3 during the instrumental break. In the lyrics, they ask the company's president for a job, so they can afford a luxurious vacation.
France: Marie Myriam - L'oiseau et l'enfant (winner review below)
The Winner:
France is the first country to reach 5 wins, breaking a 3-way with Luxembourg and Netherlands for the record at the time. They were a powerhouse back then. Although, as of 2024, this is their most recent victory.
After “Waterloo”, the next 2 winners were also upbeat pop songs, but 1977 broke the trend. “L'oiseau et l'enfant” is a return to French ballad winners. However, this one is different. The song is very poetic and Marie's voice is gorgeous. She delivers intense moments as well. And the emotion feels real.
I love how the song grows in intensity. After the intro wakes up, it starts a cappella, where Marie's voice can carry the song by itself without any instruments needed. Then the guitar, tambourine, strings, etc. gradually appear. And the second verse speeds up the percussion. But my favourite part is when the song quiets to a heartbeat thump, as the camera starts above Marie's head and moves downward. The busy orchestra resumes after that. The horns elevate things. Then the song slows and softens before the big finish. The verses are long, and the chorus is just two lines. But the verses have a poetic melody that I really like. The chorus is a moment of despair instead.
Each stanza begins by repeating the last word of the previous one; thereby expanding on the preceding thought. The lyrics are also poetic. They mention a child watching the birds, and how they both see the beauty of the world; such as the sea, the music, and the dawn. Marie says we can emulate the bird and the child and overcome the world's darkness, wars, and borders.
On stage, she uses her outstretched hands expressively. And she has a tearful winning reaction.
Winner rank: “S” tier. This is France's best winner
