Absolutely I’ve wanted to do something with this wet sock of a boy for a while now

•So judging by his voicelines he’s rather snarky. One could even describe him as snobbish. It’s something he picked up from his twin brother, but while Dan is much more well versed in intimidation tactics, out of Thad’s mouth said malice only comes off as half assed attempts at comebacks. They don’t often land either.

•he cannot fucking see . He’s so very short sighted it’s painful. On those premises his glass lenses make his eyes look as beady as a mole’s. They’re knocked off his face so often he had to tape them together to keep them from further crooking.

•Buck teeth. He’s got buck teeth, and a retainer. He should wear it, and oftentimes he avoids it because of how horrid it feels, but when his parents force him to slap it on it amplifies his lisp by the hundredth. Which is why sometimes he sounds normal and other timessss he’s a Daffy Duck impersonator.

•he has a Big interest in geometry and technical drawing as a whole. He wants to be a civil engineer. Or an architect. Maybe both, he hasn’t decided. As long as he can put the subject he’s best at to good use.

•that’s also why he carries so much material. Yardsticks included. If he catches up on homework soon enough he’ll get started on a hypothetical project. Not his fault if his tools have become means to defend himself lmao. He doesn’t really like it though. Having to replace broken rulers on the weekly isn’t the greatest thing for a surveyor the likes of Thad.

•he isn’t often petulant, but if given the chance, he will yap somebody’s head off. He often gets all too carried away while talking (his lisp doesn’t make it all too pleasing to hear) he has to be Abruptly shut up by Earnest. To be fair he’s Often shut up by him anyway. He doesn’t know what to make of it.

•he tries his damn best to be “cool”, or “normal”, or “somewhat socially acceptable”, but it all comes out Wrong. Each and every one of his attempt at smoothing out his persona to the public only gets him slammed back in the nerd box. Earnest thinks he should stop “embarrassing himself”.

•that being said he’s Incredibly and scorchingly jealous of Dan. And Dan rubs the fact he’s so much better off in his face whenever he can. When he’s not ignoring him at home of course. Or throwing crumpled paper balls at him.

•they scuffle on the daily. Even if he’s a tad taller Thad isn’t the strongest kid. Dan’s favorite sibling activity is putting him in a headlock or practicing wwe moves on the poor thing

•Thad however will gladly use him as part of his science project. Against his will.

•love it when siblings love each other

"Unexpected Visit" | Mourning AU

A package was sent by with the surnames these were intended for were Carlson and Anderson, The package was then being delivered to the Medical Unit in which Carol and Aiden resided in.

The Twins were close by, trying their best to keep themselves awake while watching their beloved still resting on the lonesome bed in which they lay on.

Patton, not too far beside them, sat by a chair next to Aiden. He held his hand, whispering pleas and murmurs yet he knew Aiden couldn't hear him.

Not like this, These two can't hear them..

When the package was taken inside the room they stayed in, An unexpected visitor comes through the door just to deliver it.

The heavy foot steps and the familar messy blue jacket that wore off it's signature tones color came insight, The three looked up at the boy with contempt and caution but.. How could he ever be a threat?..

The twins stood up to shield Carol and looked upon the boy, both a bit wary and saddened by the look on his face yet they kept quiet.

He looked so worn out, so dull, so.. tired.

Patton stood up immediately when he arrived, looking up at his fellow member of the organization he so cherished.

Patton can sense the same thing from him, the same shame and guilt plastered on his face that he's seen before.

The same tears, the bags under his eyes yet became more apparent and heavier than last time.

They made eye contact and right then and there, Patton can see the boy's lost soul in his eyes.

"You shouldn't have come, you know?.. Were you aware that they're planning on suspending your positions? Heck, They even considered decommissioning you and your sector!.. Why would you risk your job to be he-"

"Patton, You know more than anyone that I don't care for this job.."

The large boy looks down at the Arctic Base Drill Sergeant and looked him straight in the eyes, His gaze holds no hostility yet anyone could tell that his voice strained out of exhaustion.

Patton, his mouth ajar and his mind was trying to comprehend his words but he closed his jaw and tightened it as he stared back.

"That's a lie and you know it, You were so passionate about inventing things and making all these world-stopping ideas to make the KND better! Your occupation is on the line, as we speak.. Why risk it all of a sudden?.."

Jeremiah kept his eyes on Patton, not moving an inch as he just stood there out of contempt yet he found his voice when he looked down to the floor.

"Because coming to the KND wasn't my idea, This wasn't what I wanted, It wasn't my dream.. It was our dream.."

Patton kept his mouth shut by those words, he didn't know how else to react but be silent. He contemplated for a moment yet looked up again when Jeremiah spoke,

"You know what it's like, don't you?.. To almost lose a loved one from the brink of death, To breathe ever breath and hope that they'll be okay.. But the difference between us is that, You still have a chance to be with them.. I don't.."

Patton stood there shocked from Jeremiah's words, almost a bit too stunned to even speak. His eyes met glossy ones as they stared at each other and stood silent, before he mustered up a response.

"You know that's foul play, You can't just use that against me!.. I'm sorry for your loss, I truly am but don't you dare bring HIM up into this, Don't even bring them up into this!.. Your sector did this to hi-"

"I know, Patton.. I know that and I'm sorry, I'm sorry that I had the gaul to mention them in a vulnerable situation such as this.. I take full responsibility, I will do my duty as a member of the KND and accept my consequences.. I won't even ask for any of your forgiveness.."

Patton was quick to be silenced again, It seemed that he was easily to quiet down when something stuns him. Patton knows Jeremiah, he's a good kid and a kind soul. But he too knows that what's happened still hasn't been resolved and it's become damaging to many others around them. He paid attention once again when Jeremiah takes a step closer but he didn't back away, Jeremiah would never hurt him on purpose.

"I'll pay my dues, Do the time and accept the consequences of my actions as well as my sector's.. But I only ask for one favor, That I stay here and help treat the people we've hurt.. I already failed two people that are dear to me, I'm not going to allow myself to lose more.. I already had a close call once, Not again.."

Jeremiah held his head high and looked at Patton with determination, Something Patton had seen for so many years.

The Drill Sergeant pondered for a moment, the gears in his head turning and weighed down ever possibility that could happen depending on his decision. It didn't take long before he held his hand out to the larger boy, the same look of confidence in both of their tired eyes as he nodded.

"Then prove to me that the smart guy I've trusted over the years is still inside you, Don't let them down.."

"I will, Thank you, Patton.. I've already taken action on preparing Mella's medical kits and Evan's comfort toys.. I couldn't bare myself if I left Carol and Aiden astray, It's what they would've wanted anyway, rather than let their much needed help go to waste back at the treehouse.."

Patton could already tell that Jeremiah was taking his responsibilities seriously and a small yet subtle smile slowly crept up his face, He hopes somehow that the rest of Sector PHP could see the same way Jeremiah does.. He could only hope now..

Some Notes About Gender in Supyire

I'm currently reading a grammar of the Supyire language (specifically, A Grammar of Supyire, by Robert Carlson, 1994), which is spoken in southeastern Mali and the adjoining regions of the Ivory Coast. Supyire is a language that has gender, but a rather different gender system than the Indo-European one exhibited in well-known European languages like Spanish, German, French, etc. Supyire has 5 genders (which Carlson simply labels with numbers 1 through 5). Nouns in genders 1, 2, and 3 can occur in one of two noun classes each, one for singular nouns and one for plural nouns; nouns in genders 4 and 5 do not distinguish number. So there are 8 noun classes in total divided across the 5 genders. The noun classes are marked with families of suffixes characterized by a particular consonant. Carlson writes: "Supyire is typical of Niger-Congo languages in exhibiting only weak correlations between noun classes and semantic categories. The usual situation obtains in every one of the Supyire genders: most of the nouns used to refer to entities belonging to a particular semantic category are included in a particular gender, but the gender also contains many other nouns which do not refer to entities in that semantic category" Gender 1 is characterized by being used for nouns that refer to humans: sùpyà "person", nafentu "wife's father", ceewe "woman", nà "man". Words for castes and occupations like biliwe "slave", faapyi "farmer/peasant", lashwo "midwife", sòròlashí "solider" also fall into this gender, as do terms for ethnic groups, supernatural entities, and some miscellaneous terms for human beings such as cevoo "friend", ŋaŋa "twin". Many random words for animals also occur in gender 1, although animal nouns also occur in genders 2 and 3. Gender 2 is used for "big things" - most notably trees (cige "tree", various words for specific kinds of trees like logo "shea tree") and words for parts of trees (nìŋe, "bark" and weŋe "branch"). Buildings are also in this gender, as are most of the words for large animals (although ntasuu, "elephant", is an exception, it is in gender 1). Carlson writes "One minor subcategory in gender 2 is one which has nothing to do with physical size: nouns denoting units of time.", and cites words like "morning", "day", "dry season", "month/moon", as examples. Gender 3 is used for "small things" - small animals like "mosquito", "pigeon", "bird"; also randomly some nouns that are clearly derived from verbs like "death" (derived from "to die"), "diarrhea" (derived from "to defecate"), and "theft" (derived from "to steal"). Some nouns can be used in either gender 2 or 3, where using gender 2 indicates that the noun is big, and possibly ugly or otherwise with pejorative force. Similarly, moving a noun root into gender 3 can indicate that it is small or diminutive - although there is a separate diminutive suffix for nouns that ordinarily occur in gender 3.

Gender 4 (which does not distinguish singular and plural categories) is used for masses of indefinite size ("adobe", "mush", "honey", "feces"), and abstract qualities ("insanity", "pity", "worry", "forgetfulness"). biliwe, a gender-1 noun meaning "slave", derives a gender 4 noun bilere, "slavery"; similarly gender-4 nana "masculinity" is derived from gender-1 na, "man". Nouns referring to language or speech, such as "language", "lie", "answer", "words", and names of individual languages also occur in gender 4. Gender 5 is the gender of "liquids and other pourable items": "beer", "oil", "pus", "urine", "milk", all fall into this category, although interestingly "water" and "blood", perhaps the most prototypical liquids for humans, do not (they are in gender 2). Gender 5 is also used for some abstract qualities like "health", "flavor/taste", "beauty"; and nominalizations like "disease" (from "to be sick") and "words" (from "to say").
