1, 3, 7, 12, 13, 20, 22, 27, 28 and 29 make an entire playlist for me
Ok so this is referring to an ancient reblog of mine
1 three songs that come up when you put your phone on shuffle "Deep Space" by Blank Banshee. "hakuiki (the last stage of change at the deceased remains" by my dead girlfriend (ę»ćć åć®å½¼å„³). "Mrahc" by Title Fight.
3. three songs you were recently obsessed with obviously "keep my address to yourself, cause we need secrets!" by Fucking Werewolf Asso. I think the tik tok song about Marcin the hamster also qualifies. Other than that i listen to "Youth and Lust" by Cold Cave a lot.
7. three songs you didnāt expect to like but eventually loved first that comes to mind is "ADHDLGBTHWDP". "Passenger" by Deftones or any Deftones song for that matter, cause i really thought I'd grown out of nu metal. A lot of polish songs, since i dont hold polish music in high regard, but also wouldn't go as far as to say i "love" them now, just tolerate/like.
12. three favourite songs from video games this one's easy. Cyberpunk 2077's adaptation of folk song "KÅjÅ no Tsuki" takes the cake, always mesmerizing. "Worlds" by (as far as i remember) the Unresolved, also from Cyp77. "Fahkeet" by Light Club from Hotline Miami 2. There's so much more
13. three songs you want at your funeral i actually made a playlist for my funeral a few years back but it's not rly that serious. anyways, "Sea, Swallow Me" by Cocteau Twins, "Death Is Not the End" by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, "No Below" by Speedy Ortiz (incidentally also a song from a video game).
20. three songs that remind you of the person who sends this one "Rosenrot" by Rammstein. "I Luv the Valley OH!" by Xiu Xiu. "Patolove" by Zdechly Osa.
22. three songs you listen to when youāre sad "Locket" by Crumb. "So You Wanna Be A Superhero" by Carissa's Wierd. "Violence" by Andy Stott.
27. three songs that you sing while drunk "Kino" by The Knife. "Stein Um Stein" by Rammstein. "Fucc the Devil" by Andrew Jackson Jihad.
28. three best songs to get drunk or high to "Vanished" by Crystal Castles. "Secret Motel" by Xiu Xiu. "2007" by You Love Her (Coz She's Dead). I just think these noisy electronic punk songs are trippy enough by themselves.
29. three songs that influenced you most (some songs change or save lives) hard to pick three but here we go. "Not In Love" by Crystal Castles - first non-metal/rock i really enjoyed, it basically dragged me into electronica and noise. "Rumpus Room" by Xiu Xiu - the song that pulled me into xiu xiu hell, even though i knew xiu before just with this song i became obsessed (and the live gig of course). "My Favorite Black Cat" by Lebanon Hanover - just something i'd listened a lot in my (recent) darkest times. Wouldn't say it motivated me to get help but certainly did have some influence.
jesus this took forever. anyway, here's the playlist
#bambipickle#bambipickle tag#bambipickle ask#spotify#music#xiu xiu#xiu xiu for life#songs#rammstein#crystal castles#ajj#andrew jackson jihad#lebanon hanover#carissa's wierd#cyberpunk2077#soundtrack#ost#electronica

A couple of weeks ago I asked about peopleās favorite book or books they read this year. Between Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and discord, I have a list of 123 books in no particular order that my friends and family loved this year. If it was a series then I listed the first book. Each star is an additional recommendation. I havenāt read all of these, they may or may not reflect my personal opinions, though my favorite books are on the list too. The most recommended books were How Far The Light Reaches by Sabrina Imbler, one or all of the Murderbot books by Martha Wells, and Light from Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki, because if thereās one thing my friends have in common across platforms, itās that youāre all nerds (affectionate). Looking Back at the Books I Read in August & September 2023
Looking back on all the books I finished during the month of August and September.
Instead of making individual posts for August and September, I decided to combine them because Iāve been really busy with moving for the last two months. Was I actively moving the entire time? No. But I was settling into a temporary living situation and making plans for what Iād need once I moved in. After that, I was putting my belongings back in order. So, while I didnāt get to read as much asā¦

My Last Seven June Reads
Definitely better than the first crop this month!
The Book of Essie by Meghan MacLean Weir - 5 stars - The title character is Esther. Sheās the youngest of six siblings who have grown up on a reality TV show called āSix for Hicks.ā Her father is a pastor, and she and her siblings are expected to follow the rules of their faith, the show, and their mother who seems to run it all. But even her mother is flustered when, at 17, Essie becomes pregnant. What will people think? What will they do about the show? For once, Essie wants to solve her own problem in addition to doing some tell-all interviews with a journalist named Liberty Bell. Bell has her own complicated past. The stories of both characters come out in this well-written debut. I really liked the writing, the plot, and the characters. Not sure if everyone would, but it was five stars for me!
The Husbands by Holly Gramazio - 3 stars - I was excited about this speculative fiction effort after hearing about it on All the Books a few weeks back. Very unique premise. Lauren returns home after a night out with friends a little tipsy (read: drunk), and her husband is there to take care of her. Thatās where the problem comes in. Lauren is not married. But this man, the pictures in her home, her phone: they all assure her she is married to Michael. The next day, Michael heads up to the attic to fix a lightbulb. When he comes back down, heās not Michael. Heās a different husband. Again, all signs point to this being accurate. So Lauren sends him up to the attic, and another husband comes back in his place. At first, the characterization about the husbands was entertaining. But I think the author went a little overboard on this and the plot suffered. Good idea but not the best execution.
The Trees by Percival Everett - 5 stars - This was the author of James that I read last month, and this older book of his did not disappoint. A series of murders sets up this plot set in Money, Mississippi. Near the bodies of the deceased is another body. A body resembles that of Emmett Till who was brutally murdered in that city in 1955. But how can this possibly be? And how can similar murders start taking place across the country? The back cover says this: āEverett offers a devastating critique of white supremacy and confronts the legacy of lynching in the United States.ā Top notch writing. Prose and dialog equally powerful. Smart plot. Emotions run wild. Cannot recommend this one enough.Ā
The Dollmaker by Nina Allan - 2 stars - This should have been a DNF. It was weird but not in a good way. The narrator of this one is Andrew Gavine. He is the title dollmaker. In the back of a doll collector magazine, he replies to a personal ad of a woman named Bramber Winters. She has lived for years in an institution. He comes up with a plan to rescue her from this existence. We learn about their lives through his narration and Bramberās letters to him. But it was nothing great. The writing wasnāt engaging, and I didnāt find myself sympathizing with either characters despite their sad circumstances.Ā
The Traitors by Carissa Ann Lynch - 4 stars - Iām a sucker for a plot that revolves around strangers stuck in a remote location for a certain reason. Thatās why I liked this one. The location is Beechwood Castle. In the ā90s, a group of teenagers was killed here. It was abandoned then as it is now. But six people have been invited to spend the night. If they make it, they split a million dollar prize. The novel is first person narration which was not done the best but not the worst either as at least some of the characters had a unique voice. Of course, secrets are being kept and divulged from beginning to end. And I didnāt see the end coming. Especially considering that I read this on my Kindle, and it was done at 87%! The rest being a preview of the authorās next book.Ā
None of This is True by Lisa Jewell - 4 stars - This came as a recommendation and became one Iāll recommend as well! Alix and Josie, strangers, are both celebrating their 45th birthday at a bar. They meet that night then bump into each other again a few days later. Alix is the host of a successful podcast, and Josie thinks that her life would be an interesting topic for Alixās next podcast. Alix agrees, and Josie starts to weasel herself into Alix and her familyās life. And starts to reveal some secrets about her own family. Each chapter either begins or ends with dialog from a Netflix series called āHI! Iām Your Birthday Twinā which was the name of Alixās podcast about Josie. Iāve read a few books by this author, and I think with her, you know what youāre going to get in a good way. This one kept me interested. I loved the parts of the āseriesā that helped reveal the mystery. And I loved the very end. Mystery/thriller readers, this is a winner!
Mascot by Charles Waters - 5 stars - I kept seeing this book crop up on middle school ELA Facebook groups, and my library didnāt have it. Luckily, I could check out the ebook. And what a book it was! In a middle school near Washington DC, we meet six students in Ms. Williamsā eighth grade advanced English class. Via a plot set up in verse, we follow them through a tumultuous school year centered upon whether or not the district should change their Native American mascot of the Braves. Ms. Williams makes writing come alive when she pairs students up, gives them a side of the argument, and asks them to give a presentation. This causes relationships to both bloom and crumble. This is timely. It sheds light on a variety of different kid of relationships, and I love that the author did put in some parts, though few, from the teacherās point of view as well. Smart, timely, and succinct! Highly recommended YA.
