Another vivid image in my mind: Akutagawa who's been sleeping all day because of a fever, sitting up in bed, his hair a mess and his comforter all crumpled up around him, Atsushi sitting halfway on the bed to take his temperature. The thermometer is just sticking out of his mouth for half a minute and Akutagawa looks like he's about to fall asleep sitting up, his head is nodding off and he can't keep his eyes open. No wonder he's so tired, he's been trying to sleep off a hundred and two degree fever all day, Atsushi is glad he's being so compliant for once but he's worried for the same reason 😭

Guys, this is gonna sound nuts, but do you think that Bailey and Kylar might somehow be related? Ok, hear me out. I never would have guessed this but there's something in the game code that says that Kylar and Bailey will always have the same hair color. It's always either black or brown but whichever color one of them has they both always have. I may or may not be losing my mind over this shit.

Sit down and get comfy for my completely unsolicited and barely based fan theory that The Caretaker is actually Spirit Cole.

Ahem…

I’ll start with the more basic parallels and go from there:

1. Cole is a spirit of compassion and a synonym for compassions is ‘care’….The Caretaker.

2. The Caretakers helmet has a striking similarity to the shape of Cole’s hat.

3. The manner of speech The Caretaker uses feels very similar to how Cole would speak.

Cole: ‘The wolf chews its leg off to escape the trap.’

Cole: ‘A slow arrow breaks in the sad wolf’s jaws.’

Caretaker: ‘The wolf’s fang, you carry it now.’

Caretaker: ‘The gods gnaw at the roots, their teeth his regrets.’

4. When Spirit Cole returns to the Fade he says he will go to where he is most needed, where pain is the greatest. Solas, alone in the lighthouse, surrounded by and ruminating in his regrets and heartbreak would be a place of immense pain. And several times The Caretaker specifically says they ‘goes where he is needed’.

5. Spirit Cole also said his friends wouldn’t forget him, and they don’t. Harding talks about Cole and her talking in Skyhold so she certainly remembers him, but he’s taken on a new form and name (like the compassion spirit in Minrathous who becomes Eulogy) so she wouldn’t recognize him now.

6. When Harding describes the Crossroads they found in the Inquisition, The Caretaker appears and says it’s similar (though not the same). Spirit Cole would have familiarity with the crossroads from Inquisition as well, which explains how The Caretaker can confirm that both places are similar. If they were Spirit Cole they would have visited both locations.

All of this has convinced me that The Caretaker and Cole are one in the same.

Is it true? Maybe. Is it a sign that I desperately miss my neurodivergent compassion spirit-human hybrid son? ABSOLUTELY!
