Thinking about how 9 times out of 10 the reason Viktor ends up regressing is because of being overtired from working in the lab. Meaning the place he regress most is probably the lab. When Jayce becomes Victor's caregiver and realises this he clears out a drawer in his desk for Viktor's little gear so he always has access to it whether jayce is with him or not (most times jayce is there tho)

Little!Jayce with Caregiver!Mel & Viktor Headcanons

As a fandom, I know we’re big on little Vi, Caitlyn, Jinx and Viktor more than Jayce. I love every one of them, but hear me out on little cutiepie Jayce! No spoilers for season 2.

Jayce isn’t necessarily afraid to be vulnerable around Mel and Viktor — obviously he seeks comfort from Mel when he needs it and isn’t afraid to weep tears of sadness and joy at Viktor’s bedside. But when he’s little he feels a deep sense of guilt, especially after he takes on his role as a councillor. Like he’s not allowed to regress because there are responsibilities are piled onto his shoulders and he’s a grown man, and who would ever understand

In comes Mel. Jayce regresses around her first because she makes it so easy, with her tender touches and tendency to cradle his face and look at him with such warmth in her eyes that it feels like he’s staring into the sun.

At first he’s small without telling her. They lay on her bed together as the sun sets, Jayce’s head in Mel’s lap and her fingers carding through his hair. It’s a typical pattern for them, a safe space they love to come to and rest quietly in one another’s presence. However, Jayce finds it difficult to hold all of his emotions in and winds up sniffling in her lap one evening, hiding his face in the soft fabric of her dress and quickly dissolving into sobs of relief and embarrassment when Mel tells him that it’s alright, sweetheart. You can cry if you need to.

Mel takes very good care of her boy. She slowly chips away at this new, vulnerable side of him and learns a lot about little Jayce by treating him gently. For one, Jayce is much more sensitive when he’s little, both physically and emotionally. He doesn’t like wearing his stuffy senatorial clothing, and especially hates the high collars of many of his usual shirts and jackets. A way that Mel can tell Jayce is close to regressing or needs to be small is when he tugs at his shirt collar uncomfortably, clearing his throat and practically itching to flee whatever room he’s in.

Emotionally, Jayce is quick to look down on himself and is oftentimes teary. If Mel tells him not to touch her painting while it’s drying after he’s caught curiously poking the canvas, a deep pout will appear on his face and he’ll apologize and go sit himself down in the corner of the room. ‘M sorry, Mel. Didn’t mean to be bad.

He also gets embarrassed very easily, quite unlike his adult self. He has a hard time shaking off his internal adult monologue that tells him there’s something wrong with acting the way he does. He struggles with asking Mel for food or toys and oftentimes prefers to listen to her read out loud rather than participating in a child-like activity. Jayce will hold onto her hand while she reads to him and grows easily frustrated when she has to let go to turn the page.

Viktor knew Jayce was regressing months before he directly found out. Viktor’s incredibly smart and very sharp, so it wasn’t any less than completely obvious to him when he picked up on the way Jayce would skitter away to Mel after a long day or grow too quiet when they worked on the newest Hextech formula together. He was hesitant to bring it up to Jayce, though. Viktor figured that if Jayce wanted him to know he’d say so. Besides, Viktor respects Jayce far too much than to pry in his personal business.

They ended up being forced to confront Jayce’s regression during a late night at the lab. Jayce had fallen asleep at his desk, softly snoring as Viktor quietly tinkered with a new Hextech prototype. However, Jayce’s gentle breathing turned into the smallest sounds of distress — these were common for Viktor to hear, after all, Jayce started having stress dreams about the same time he became a councillor. Viktor glanced over at Jayce, brow furrowing, concerned about the other in a way he didn’t typically show from day to day. His brow furrowed even deeper when Jayce woke with a start and glanced around the room with wild eyes, like he didn’t know where he was.

Then, a soft and scared Mel, left his lips, and Viktor immediately identified what was going on. Jayce had been feeling small even before he fell asleep, and waking up without being in his normal environment with Mel made him regress further. Viktor had never seen him truly regressed before, and everything about Jayce’s body language made him seem so much smaller and unsure than he usually was.

Jayce, you’re here in the lab. It is alright. Viktor reassured him as best he could, despite being very unsure about how to speak to Jayce. The little’s ears went red immediately as he realized where he was and that Viktor was talking to him, and oh no, that Viktor knew he was small when he was supposed to be big. He couldn’t help but to burst into tears of embarrassment, his crying only making him even more upset. Viktor’s oh dear didn’t help matters much either.

Viktor managed to calm Jayce down by simply sitting quietly and allowing him to get all his tears out. Once Jayce’s sobs had slowed down to sniffles, Viktor got up and gently squeezed the little’s shoulders, meeting his eyes. He murmured that everything was quite alright and that they could go and find Mel together. Jayce nearly knocked Viktor down with the force that he threw himself at, wrapping the smaller man in a hug. Viktor wheezed and then chuckled, patting Jayce’s back affectionately as they parted. He knew it was time to see Mel when Jayce’s next action was to tug at the high collar of his shirt. Come on, little one, Viktor remarked, as the pair went off to wake Mel in the middle of the night.

• viktor age regresses quite often during emotionally draining times. jayce is always there with his paci and blanket! so much cuddling ensues

• vik likes to make jayce little gifts, to show appreciation! he really loves jayce and is very happy he has such a good caregiver! the gifts usually are: coloring pages vik’s colored for jayce, little bugs made from scrap metal, little drawings, and sandwiches !

• jayce holds viktor while he sleeps, he is wraps his arms around his back and pets his hair !

• jayce loves taking vik to the park, they always have so much fun together! since vik’s leg is bad, jayce will push him on the swing! that way viktor can still have fun!

• viktor’s favorite snacks/drinks while regressed are: sweet milk, pb cookies, pbj, sour candy, carrots, raspberry black iced tea (he has such a sweet tooth and he’s fancy so I thought this fit)

• jayce and vik spend SOOO much time together, always playing and cuddling! they also binge shows they like together, vik really likes robot centered films

jayce sticks to a tight feeding/meal schedule, set bath time, bedtime, etc., whereas viktor is more of a go with the flow kind of cg.

in the same vein, jayce tends to be more nervous and hovers. he’s constantly fussing over you, making sure you’re not too cold or that you have enough toys. meanwhile, viktor is of the opinion that independent exploration and falling down and picking yourself back up (literally or figuratively) helps with learning how to problem solve and with emotion regulation so that if you regress without them around you can at least be somewhat self sufficient until they’re able to get there.

viktor is more verbal than physical with his affection. he goes out of his way to tell you how proud he is of you every day, calls you pet names in his native language, and always makes sure that you know how much your caregivers love you. however, he’ll never turn down a hug or request for cuddles from his little one.

jayce likes doing physical activities with you, at whatever frequency and intensity you’re able to do. he always makes sure to hold your hand when you’re out walking, and he gives you piggyback rides around the lab (it gets both your energy out).

they both make you little toys and trinkets; viktor’s are usually made up of a collection of gears and wires, though he does his best to child proof the more dangerous parts, and jayce’s are usually something decorative made from scrap metal from the forge.

jayce loves to cook for you and is thrilled if you want to join him in the kitchen. viktor will sit and watch as he scribbles notes with leftover thoughts from the lab and occasionally tell you to check that jayce is cooking the recipe correctly. jayce messes up on purpose because it makes you laugh.

there are some days where viktor’s having a bad pain day, or there’s a particularly sharp chill in the air that keeps jayce tucked tightly in bed. when these days happen, you’re usually primarily with your other cg, but they’ll bring you into the bedroom or the living room or wherever their partner currently is, and you’ll show them a picture you colored for them and maybe cuddle (you love being the middle spoon) and they’ll smile fondly at you and think how lucky they are to have such an attentive partner and such a wonderful regressor.

Jayce glances back up at the window across the room from him, the shade has been pulled as far down as it goes but he still knows what happening behind it. It’s snowing. Hard.

The weather this morning had predicted some light rain but now Piltover is covered in a thick layer of white and has snowflakes falling down so rapidly Jayce is worried it’ll never stop. It’s been three- no five- hours of the storm and of him not daring to step foot outside the lab.

Viktor had gone home before the snow started, which eased Jayce as it meant he had zero chance of getting caught in it, but it also leaves Jayce alone. Alone and slowly slipping into his headspace. He’s fiddling with a prototype of a hextech device that he can’t even remember the purpose of, he just knows it’s something he’s supposed to be doing. He is not supposed to be regressing at work, or even be here anymore with everyone else having gone home or off to their own rooms in the building to sleep.

The gadget drops from Jayce’s hand with a clash as it collides with the floor and a shiver runs down his back, he’s cold. The device is broken in a bunch of pieces across the floor and he’s shivering and- and he’s crying. A small whimper escapes Jayce’s throat as he moves to the floor, collecting the pieces from the prototype in shaking hands, but quickly abandoning the task when he hears someone walking outside the door.

He recognizes the step pattern but knows it isn’t the security guard, it’s not uniform enough. In a moment of panic and his little side coming out more, Jayce backs himself under the work table and clutches the metal parts in his hands up to his chest. He tries to be quiet. It might be a snowy monster, his childlike brain supplies, only making Jayce feel more alone and helpless. He wants his mom, or Mel, or Viktor, or even Heimerdinger, anyone that would be able to protect him from the monster outside.

“Stupid door.” The person mutters as the large door opens then closes, Jayce instantly registers that it’s Viktor. Rather than feeling relieved like he assumed he would at the thought of not getting eaten by a snow monster, he’s suddenly panicking more. Viktor is going to find him regressed. Oh god.

“…uh Jayce?” Viktor asks hesitantly, slowly approaching the table Jayce is halfway hidden under. Jayce flinches back into himself, trying to curl up smaller but his physical size betrays him and he isn’t able to do much.

The tears he had forgotten were there suddenly reappear and he tucks his face into his knees in an attempt to cover them. So sensitive, he remembers being chastised as a kid by the teachers in school. He doesn’t want Viktor to see him as sensitive or anything like that. He’s supposed to be big and smart and help Viktor with hextech, not a baby. The thoughts only make him feel worse and a small sniffle leaves him, he hears Viktor pause in front of him at the sound.

“Jayce what’s going on?” The cane Viktor uses gets propped up against the table before he somehow gets himself on the ground in front of Jayce. He can hear the sound of Viktor muttering to himself about his leg being stiff, the clink the metal brace makes against the hard floor, the worried sigh he lets out once he’s situated.

“S’cold out.” He mumbles as a reply, not caring that he’s leaving out the vital information that he’s slipped into his little space. He isn’t sure how Viktor will react to him being a little, they’ve never talked about classification before aside from Viktor offhandedly mentioning that he’s a caregiver.

“Yes it is snowing pretty hard, I wasn’t going to come out but I forgot my notes and wasn’t feeling tired enough for sleep anyway.” It’s rare Viktor sleeps more than four hours a night and there’s been plenty of times he’s come in afterhours to the lab or even just simply not gone home but Jayce almost always leaves on time. He doesn’t have the best sleep schedule, but he enjoys being home with his mother and helping cook or whatever tasks she needs done around the house. And he’s never here this late.

“I don’t like snow.” Hesitantly Jayce shifts to let Viktor see him above his knees. There’s a furrow of worry in Viktor’s brow when he notices the tears and red rimmed eyes Jayce has.

“I remember you telling me what happened when you were a child.” Jayce’s eyes water at the words, brain instantly replaying the memory of almost losing his mother so young. Viktor looks regretful of his words as soon as he sees Jayce’s reaction.

“But you’re safe now Jayce, everyone’s safe.” A hand is gently placed on Jayce’s shoulder, Viktor scooting forward to be closer but still looking unsure of his actions.

“I don’ wanna go out in the snow.” There’s a naive edge to his tone he knows Viktor hears.

“You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to. Now Jayce… are you feeling um.. small?” Again, Jayce’s bottom lip wobbles and tears drip down his cheeks as he nods guiltily. He hates that Viktor is seeing him like this.

“That’s okay, no reason to cry. You are allowed to regress, especially when you’re emotional.” It was always preached in school that being emotional was a sure-fire way for little’s to drop and that it was best to encourage this behavior as the side effects could be severe if a little didn’t go small enough- Jayce has just never been convinced these rules apply to himself.

“Bu’ at work.” He clumsily wipes his eyes and untangles his legs a little to show the broken prototype in his other hand.

“M’sorry Vik.” He blubbers when Viktor simply stares at the pieces with an unreadable expression, but Viktor quickly shushes him when he catches onto Jayce’s distraught state.

“It’s okay, you didn’t mean to, yes?” A nod and Viktor offers a small smile.

“Then no harm done. We can fix it up tomorrow, when you’re ready to.” When he’s big again- Jayce hates his brain for feeling so guilty about dragging Viktor into this mess.

“Can’t go home, too cold.” If Viktor came here for notes then he probably came here to work on something but Jayce knows if he even tried to walk out that door he’d send himself into a full panic attack. He can’t leave, as much as he dislikes Viktor seeing him like this.

“I wasn’t saying you had to. Would you like to go somewhere more comfortable?” There’s nothing in the lab that would be considered comfortable but there is the community room on the west wing that has couches and a coffee machine that would probably be better for both of them. It’d at least be warmer. But-

“Other people?” Other sounds more like ‘Ofer’ but Jayce thinks Viktor understands. He doesn’t need the whole council to see him in this state.

“Nobody else is awake, it’s alright darling.” The assurance is oh so soft and Jayce instantly feels calmer hearing it. This may be the first time he’s had Viktor look after him but he trusts him like he would any other day, now that the initial panic has passed that is.

Somehow they stumble down the to the east wing and all but collapse onto one of the large couches that is much comfier than the hard ground in the lab. Viktor leans behind them to pull the shades down when he catches Jayce staring outside- the storm isn’t any better, if anything it’s worse and Jayce is nearly ready to go hide under the lab table again. He hates winter.

Why does it have to be winter? Why can’t it be summer forever?

Unintentionally, Jayce curls up against Viktor’s side and clutches a hand to the loose sweater he has on. It’s not his normal vest and dress shirt, instead a warm coffee colored knit sweater that Jayce has only seen a handful of time but has always been entranced in anytime Viktor’s worn it. It looks incredibly soft and feels even better now that he’s got his fingers tangled in it.

“Jayce? Are you alright?” A lanky arm wraps around Jayce’s back to pull him in closer to Viktor’s side, encouraging him to cuddle in for warmth.

It’s not that Jayce runs cold- quite the opposite- but snow storms somehow leave him shivering and shaking no matter what’s going on or where he is. There was even a point where he couldn’t watch videos of the winter weather or he’d start to shiver and slip into his small space.

“Wish it was summer.” He barely even likes fall on bad days and on good days he spends his time day dreaming about summer to the point that he can almost forgets it’s even cold outside. It doesn’t always work.

He tries it now, closing his eyes, laying his head on Viktor’s chest, trying to imagine the summer breeze and birds chirping, but he gets nothing. Just snow swooshing through the air and the picture of his hands so cold they turn red and have to be held in warm water before frostbite sets in. Viktor pets a hand at his back that reminds him he’s safely inside and nobody is freezing, but Jayce is still trembling like he’s about to turn to ice.

“I’m so sorry, little one. Do you have a caregiver I could contact?” No. He doesn’t even let his mother watch him, he always avoids the slightest mention of his classification with her, forever scared she’ll look down on him for it. Which is ridiculous with how proud she is of him and how much gushing she does about him, it’s still there though and Jayce hasn’t been able to convince himself to stop thinking that way.

“Jus’ myself.” It’s mostly fine for Jayce to look after himself, he has a system: lock himself in his bedroom and take out the couple of toys he allows himself and spend a few of hours in there, that’s it. That’s all he’s ever given himself.

“It’s very encouraged for littles to have a caregiver.” He knows that but it’s never mattered too much to him. But- it is nice to have Viktor here. He’d probably still be shaking under that table if Viktor hadn’t showed up.

“No one to look after me.” Jayce rubs his cheek against Viktor’s shirt and can hear the thump of his heartbeat from this angle, it’s calming and he hooks an arm around Viktor’s middle to try and be even closer to him.

“What about your mother? Or possibly Mel?” It’s a soft question, Jayce still scrunches his nose and shakes his head against Viktor in disapproval.

“Don’t wanna bother them.” Or be that vulnerable around them. He can be open about a lot of things but opening up about his little side is something Jayce struggles with more than he’d say the average little in Piltover.

“I don’t think you would bother them. They love you and are both caregivers, I’m sure they’d have no problem watching over you when you needed them to.” That was another conversation he briefly remembers having with Viktor, that both his parents were caregivers, he assumed that would be enough to convince him that Jayce was a caregiver too without him having to explicitly lie- that’s out the window now.

“Can’t you watch over me?” It slips out of Jayce’s mouth before he can even try and think it through. Not that he thinks he’d have much luck, he’s starting to get sleepy and his headspace is making thinking hard.

“Uh- Jayce I- I’m sure there’s a better option-.” Viktor stumbles over his words in shock and Jayce merely huffs.

“Wan’ you.” There’s a response but Jayce is passed out asleep before he can fully catch it. He’ll have to ask Viktor about it in the morning.

Thinking of modern university jayvik and regressed viktor seeing how stressed out Jayce is with his studies and deciding to make a little arts n craft project for him to cheer him up. Viktor presenting his creation to his papa and Jayce almost tearing up because of how thoughtful his sweet boy is but also that he was so distracted he didn't even realise that Viktor was small and he feels abit bad about that. And then for the rest of the night Jayce takes a much needed break and pampers his baby with a bunch of cuddles and a movie night.

Your take on Fem!Jayce was inspiring and so carefully thought out - it was very nice to read with so much of the fandom calling him h(b)imbo, I swear, people can be frustrating.

I've always found him fascinating exactly because he exhibits what (at least to me) would be considered feminine qualities - he wants to be agreeable, make his parental figures proud, he's absolutely the preppiest of girls even when he's Masc!Jayce, and he just wants to be a caregiver. None of these are per-se purely feminine, of course, but we can consider them as traditionally expected of women rather than men (it was baffling to me to see how many people headcanon him as butch femme), That's what captivates me in him, plus the fact that I rarely see it mentioned, but usually "infuriatingly beautifull" women (in academia, STEM, and frankly, in general) do suffer from prejudice based on their appearance, and it's funny (in a non-fun way) that he will surely be struggling with something similar because of his physicality (as fem or masc) and so few people talk about it (other than the people who effectively judge him in exactly that way).

That said, I'd be super interested to hear your thoughts on Fem!Viktor - as I see him as the one in the duo with more "traditionally" masculine qualities, or at least - if not traditional - then at least more well received in male characters than female - melancholic, almost byronic type, snarky, stubborn, sometimes arrogant, and socially inadept - or plain uninterested (I'm listing all these with absolute adoration).

Obviously ignore the Fem!Viktor question if you're not interested in that type of headcanon :)

Oh man, I’m so glad you liked my take on Fem Jayce! I was kind of worried posting it because people can be touchy about that stuff but yeah, Jayce to me always sat at the prep table when he’d rather be at the nerd table. Or like… got dragged to the prep table so to speak when he’d rather be playing D&D. And the idea of the fem version of that experience for the upsettingly hot girl in STEM who everyone projects onto as being a bitch when she’s really just a nerd is just… very charming and apropos to Jayce for me.

As for Viktor, I think the joke is that fem and masc Viktor are literally the same person and I sort of agree with that.

Consider we mostly see women in dresses and skirts in Piltover but not in Zaun. Zaun in general seems more gender egalitarian in the way people dress and it would be cool to see fem Viktor reflect that in a way that sort of sticks out in preppy Piltover.

That said, if we only see Jayce dressed as an academic or as a scion of House Talis, we REALLY only ever see Viktor as an academic. His one outfit ever is his uniform (or that blanket lol). And I think there’s an element of armor to it. He might be from the Undercity but he’s a Piltover Academy academic first and foremost. It’s camouflage and protection.

So I see fem Viktor as maybe always wearing the school uniform too but the trousers version for comfort and because of being a Zaunite. Perhaps also because of poverty, as the nicest outfit she has (sort of canon to him being snuck in by his parents buying him a uniform and sneaking him in). (Whereas Fem Jayce wears the skirt version because she’s trying to project socially acceptable femininity for Piltover.)

I don’t see fem Viktor as bothering with makeup or long hair, especially when she gets increasingly sick. So again, almost exactly the same appearance.

But I do love to picture fem Viktor and fem Jayce geeking out together. The image of the hyper beautiful preppy girl with her proper but formal Zaunite friend who is nowhere near as put together but still has a dignity to her just charms me to the core. Especially if it’s fem Jayce who no one has ever asked out before because she’s so hot just who in turn is pining after fem Viktor, thinking she doesn’t have a chance because no one has ever asked her out before for some reason. Like jsut the visual incongruity of it is so appealing. The fact that everyone thinks fem Jayce is a mean girl until they see her best friend that she’d literally die for is that Viktor girl who is sick all the time and scarily brilliant and those two just stay up at all hours talking science like… that gender swap with preppy fem perfect Jayce is much more interesting to me than just making fem Jayce masculine because he’s incidentally masculine, especially since as you noted he doesn’t actually project many butch or masculine qualities except incidentally.
