The University of Barcelona's Medicine Faculty has temporarily installed a giant heart made by the Catalan artist Jaume Plensa, with the building's columns acting as the ribcage.
The objective of this work of art is to raise awareness about cardiovascular illnesses, which are the leading cause of death worldwide.
The work is titled El cor secret (The Secret Heart). The heart measures 13 metres tall and 10 metres wide, and weighs 150 kg. It's made of synthetic materials and painted by hand. It had previously been shown in Germany in 2014 and was supposed to arrive to Plensa's home city sooner, but it was delayed because of covid. Instead, in 2020, Plensa donated one of his famous head sculptures to this same building, to thank medicine professionals and students for their work during the pandemic.

Earlier this year, we got news from a landmark study that microplastics – tiny shards of plastic shed from larger chunks – had been found inside more than 50 percent of fatty deposits from clogged arteries. It was the first data of its kind to draw a link between microplastics and their impact on human health. Now, a new study from researchers in China reports finding microplastics in blood clots surgically removed from arteries in the heart and brain, and deep veins in the lower legs. It's only a small study, of 30 patients – not nearly as many as the 257 patients followed for 34 months in the arterial plaque study published in March.

Statistics don't lie It just blows my mind that people can't see or understand that COVID is a dangerous virus that can damage your body. Getting infected multiple times will have serious consequences for many.

🤔🧟Can Gallifreyans ever be undead?
Here's something fun: if a Gallifreyan has one of their hearts removed, and that heart continues to beat outside their body, they can't die, no matter how much physical damage they sustain. Pulverise them, crush them, break every bone—they won't die.
But before the Master starts engineering his next plan, being in this state comes with a severe trade-off. Without that second heart inside their chest, a Gallifreyan's body deteriorates:
Their healing coma and their generalised healing become far less efficient.
Bones and skin weaken, making them more fragile and prone to fractures, bruises and other injuries.
They experience generalised weakness, lethargy, and colder extremities.
They become very nauseous.
Their senses diminish to human levels of processing.
They lose the use of their respiratory bypass system.
And their psychological health takes a severe plunge.
In a way, this creates a Gallifreyan version of an "undead" state: physically alive, but far from living. They exist in a weakened, pale version of themselves. So while they're not truly undead, they become something almost scarier: undying.

According to the latest Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study — published last month by the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) — COVID-19 was the third leading cause of death in 2021, after cardiovascular diseases and cancer.
These estimates suggest that COVID-19 was responsible for around eight million deaths in 2021. In many countries across South America and sub-Saharan Africa, the IHME reports that it was the leading cause of death.
Global improvements in healthcare have led to a steady reduction in the death rate from infectious diseases in recent decades, but the COVID-19 pandemic has reversed this trend.
Global burden of 288 causes of death and life expectancy decomposition in 204 countries and territories and 811 subnational locations, 1990–2021: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021

Article:
Now we know how COVID attacks your heart Even patients with mild COVID symptoms could face a higher risk of developing heart disease and stroke
By Sanjay Mishra
Scientists have noticed that COVID-19 can trigger serious cardiovascular problems, especially among older people who have a buildup of fatty material in their blood vessels. But now a new study has revealed why and shown that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, directly infects the arteries of the heart.
The study also found that the virus can survive and grow inside the cells that form plaque—the buildup of fat-filled cells that narrow and stiffen the arteries leading to atherosclerosis. If the plaque breaks, it can block blood flow and cause a heart attack or a stroke. The SARS-CoV-2 infection makes the situation worse by inflaming the plaque and increasing the chance that it breaks free.
This can explain long-term cardiovascular effects seen in some, if not all, COVID-19 patients.

People with one of the type A blood groups are more likely to have a stroke before the age of 60 compared with people with other blood types, research shows. Blood types describe the rich variety of chemicals displayed on the surface of our red blood cells. Among the most familiar are those named A and B, which can be present together as AB, individually as A or B, or not present at all, as O.

pasqal setting off an industrial explosion 3ft away from himself, somehow surviving, immediately ready to pick a fight with you including saying in THE most dramatic line 'flee for i am death' said as sole survivor while he's standing in a blaze of a machine he never even touched, meets a rogue trader and where everyone else so far has kinda lost it he basically just opens a backdoor to the imperium government records to look you up and says hm checks out, having a tiny tiny breakdown when you tell him he made the machine explode and then he cant remember how he did it, saying skill issue at the people who died escorting him, then immediately setting up two turrets to Melt people and almost win the fight singlehandedly. [said with utter delight] there is something wrong with him
