The triangular square, 500 square meters wide, is made of limestone, with parts in black basalt and carbonate stone from Trani. The flooring contains various writings: vertical, zenith, collective, the cardinal points, horizon, spiral and others in Sardinian language: sa pedra (stone), su fogu (fire), s'aria (air), s'acqua (water), su sobi (sun), sa lu(n)a (moon), sa roda (wheel). There are also other symbols carved on the stone and others that we will see. Encontrar el norte con un alambre. / Find the North with a wire. Conocer la posición del norte es imprescindible para poder desplazarnos de forma efectiva y con seguridad. En caso necesario podemos lograr averiguar la posición del norte y, por lo tanto, de los diferentes puntos cardinales, ayudándonos de un pequeño trozo de metal, como puede ser parte de una alambrada, un alfiler, una aguja, un imperdible, un clip, etc. Para magnetizarlo podemos frotarlo contra diferentes elementos, como pueden ser un pañuelo de seda, magnetita, el cabello o un imán de los suelen estar presentes en diferentes dispositivos electrónicos. Pero en éste caso, he empleado un método muy particular. He magnetizado el trocito de alambre golpeándolo un mínimo de 200 veces en uno de sus extremos con un objeto metálico, tras apoyarlo sobre un trozo de madera, y sostenerlo en un ángulo de 45° con respecto a la línea que intuyamos pueda ser la línea norte-sur. El número de veces que deberemos golpearlo va a depender del grosor del metal que estemos empleando, requiriendo mayor esfuerzo, cuanto mayor sea su grosor. Para saber si está suficientemente magnetizado, lo colocaremos sobre una hoja, papel o trozo de madera, y permitiremos que flote en un recipiente no metálico libremente. Si lo está, en unos segundos se alineará en la misma dirección cada una de las ocasiones en que lo volvamos a depositar sobre el agua.
