Woo-Hoo another Translation from me /^^/

This time we have the story: “Operation kindness” (outstanding member of the ladies club)

Its a silly little story but worth to be taken among the Dimeshipping fanom I think ^^

Magica grandma (inducks says, its aunt Caraldina. But they look totaly different. I am not sure its really the same person) finds out the Duckburg ladies club is holding a contest in doing good deeds and the winner gets a date with Scrooge...

Of COURSE Magica needs to win that, cause what better way to get to the dime? It’s not that she just burst into his life at ANY time she wants, right? No no, a date it must be!

So she let her granny turn her good with a spell and gets to work. Second deed she thinks of is coloring Scrooge Bin with gold dust... clearly THE way to do something good for the city... Who wouldn’t think to gift the richest man in the world first? Ehem...

Well, Scrooge IS surprised as she wins, but then he just shrugs his shoulders and is willing to be her price. Just like that...Candlelight dinner? Opera? Sure, whatever she wants!

Even as she invites him over to her home. And please Scrooge WHAT have you done the whole evening there while erverbody was sleeping? Why did you stay? oO

Also I snigger at the other ladies swooning over Scrooge and envy Magica for the date LOL

And I LOVE Mim. What a good friend! She hates everything about the plan but helps her till the very end. Even though it means cleaning a whole castle in one night ♥

How about Granny De Spell and Rosolio?

Okay so Rosolio isn't really interesting - he's Caraldina's apprentice and he's in love with Magica. Also he's allergic to Ratface.

Granny/Caraldina/???? is much more interesting.

In the 60s, Magica had a grandmother named "Granny De Spell" or Nonna Amelia in Italian (yeah even though Magica's Italian name is Amelia, idk don't worry about it).

She's a retired witch who taught Magica everything she knows - and obv she's from the canon where Magica and Madam Mim hung out all the time. I don't like thinking about humans in Duckverse so I usually ignore this kind of canon BUT it's fine we're just talking about the big picture

Granny Amelia appears in a bunch of comics, none of which ever came to America but a lot of them have official english translations in Australia. I couldn't find them so idk any details about them but these are also the comics that Samson Hex comes from, he's a (teenage?) apprentice of Magica's:

From what I can tell, Granny Amelia doesn't do much in most of her comic appearances. She's mostly just there for commentary or guidance and she's always in this weird canon with Madam Mim.

Now InDucks and some of the Duck wikias have this wrong, but the blonde "Granny De Spell" / Caraldina that we see in the same comics as Rosolio and Minima is a different character.

She's an Italian creation and a lot more fun and dynamic than Granny Amelia up there, plus she fits better into modern duck comics (where there is no Madam Mim lol). Her comics were mostly from the 90s, though I think she's made a few appearances in the 2000s. Not a lot.

As with Minima, she's cursed (thanks to Magica) and trapped in a magical dimension for 77 days at a time, and is only able to escape for 33 hours each time. She doesn't seem particularly bothered by it, but she guilts Magica about it everytime she sees her.

More recently I assume they dropped the curse concept (or it was lifted) and she just appears whenever she wants. In her most recent appearance, Magica came to stay with her for a bit because of some trial with seven other volcano-themed witches (this comic looks great and I definitely want to scanlate it sometime but of course it's super long lol)

Anyway so these are Magica's two grandmothers. I like to think Amelia De Spell is probably Magica's mother's mother ('cause of being so magically powerful), and Caraldina (who I don't think has ever been referred to in canon as a 'De Spell' and though she's magic, she's not as notable as Amelia)* is Magica's father's mother.

Why is Magica a De Spell, then, you may ask? Well it only makes sense that in witch marriages, men take the women's last names. Especially a name like De Spell, with a history of powerful witches...you don't give up a name like that for marriage.

And we saw in Origins of a Witch that Magica's father was just a normie while her mom was a powerful witch, so I think him taking her last name is sensible.

*I haven't been able to read all of her comics, but the ones I have just call her Granny or Caraldina afaik.

Anyway Magica's grandma history is complicated. The author who created Caraldina specifically said Caraldina is not Amelia, but they're still listed as the same character in a lot of places. But they have literally nothing in common physically or personality-wise, so idk what's up with that.

We could also just consider that they are both Magica's Granny De Spells, from different timelines or canons or whatever. Especially since Granny Amelia is from a canon that doesn't really exist anymore, she's very easy to ignore. But that'd be mean so I'll keep her it's fine.

Despite being able to just magic food into existence and often relying on this ability when she’s too busy planning her next attack on the Bin or too tired after her latest confrontation with Scrooge, Magica is actually a good cook and bakes a great pastiera napoletana. Grandma Caraldina taught her the family recipe before their relationship started getting increasingly worse, though she still snuck in some subtle “men love a woman who can cook!” comment that Magica didn’t pay too much attention to at the time.

Ok, here's my theory/headcanon:

Magica De Spell is her WITCH name, the one she gets when she becomes a full fledged witch.

Amelia (The name she has in Italian Comics) De Spell, on the other hand, is her REAL name, the one she has since birth and must keep secret, least other witches or dark lords or magical creatures use it against her.

The only people who know her real name are the few surviving members of her family, Granny Caraldina De Spell among them, which is why she can't really suffer any of them, and her Crow Gennarino Ratface, suspiciously absent from the current adaptation if you ask me.

Do you have any headcanons on Magica's family's opinion about Magica dating Scrooge?

ah yes! In one of my Fan Fictions I even mentioned it concerning her Granny Caraldina (see Obsession).

So canonly her grandmother just want’s Magica to date someone. Even Rosalio would be good enough in her eyes. In one story she even considers Scrooge to be a good match for Magica and tells Rosalio to vanish from Magicas life in that case. So she prefers Scrooge over him at last. But honestly I doubt she would be of any trouble as long as her “sweet” granddaugher is happy ♥ I like annoying Caraldina ♥

Her niece Minima just goes with it. He means money, he is good! lol I have the feeling Scrooge will like her. In a Ducktales verse, she would become good friends (or even lovers) with Webby (there is no Lena in my headcanons ever! For I prefer the comics or at least 1987 Ducktales! What doesn’t mean I don’t like the pairing Webby/Lena, as it stands. Its one of my favs in the reboot.

Her Uncle Guntram would be proud that she found someone she holds dear, as he always wished for her. He wouldn’t care thats a mere human (I consider Guntram death)

Ratface (yeah I concider him family ♥) can not truly understand why she fell for the old miser. But in the end he don’t care aswell as long as his bosslady is happy. He comes to really really love Scrooge as his new family member after some time. I see them get along really well!

Uncle Boz, I could imagine. Is old school and against a relationship between a witch and a human. He would be dissapointed in Magica. I can see him even having an argument with his wife (Caraldina in my headcanon) over it. Maybe he would’t talk to Magica for years till he finaly understands what Scrooge truly means to her and that he is good for her. But it would be hard for him... (damn I need to use that in a FF)

Cousin Abrazella hates everything and everyone and she would even go so far as trying to interfere or using their new relationship for her goals somehow. She can not be trusted.

Cousin Adelia would totaly FLIP over hearing that Magica is in love. She would be thrilled. She would dance around an bake a cake and shower her in flowers. And of course she knew all along. Duh! I am a fairy, I KNOW love when I see it!

Adelias daughter Matilda (in my headcanon, cause in a german translation it seemed that way). Wouldn’t care. “Duh, aunt Magica. Can we please NOT talk about old people love? Thank you!” Atm she would be embarrassed. But when she gets older, she comes to really love her new uncle!

And thats all of Magicas family I know ^^; Rosolio is not family and I see him HATE Scrooge and be very jealous (also see my FF “Obsession”).

Magicas friends: Mim, Roberta and Hazel would tease her to no end. But wouldn’t mind her loving a human!

The other witches... I don’t know. Besides her friends Magica seems not very well liked in the witch world. I think all of them are jealous about her strenght and beauty. No matter how often she “failed” to get that dime.

This work was inspired by many things. First, of the way @shewhowantsmouseears portrayed Rosolio in her “Fake wedding” Story bits. But also from actual Comics.

First the Comic with the very name itself: Obsession

Here Ratface clearly points out to her that she only thinks of Scrooge, even though she already GOT the Midas touch she wanted so dearly...In the end, she reverses the Amulett to keep Status Q with Scrooge. She was not happy at all with her fortune the whole comic. The first happy and relaxed face she made is after she decided its ok to be obessed, as long as he is equaly obsessed.

Caraldina and Minima decided Scrooge is a very good match for Magica and try to cast Armors arrow at Scrooge. But Rosolio interferes so Caraldina got hit instead.

The fact that both have a Picture of each other on the wall comes from Missmatched Mentors

A cena con Paperone

So my dear friend and fellow Dimeshipper @curly-hair-club found this Comic I was looking for, for some time. Another story written by Vito Stabile. The same guy who wrote my favorite story with the moonquarz!

Magica only has a small appearance in it but it is still SUCH good Dimeshipping content!

I swear this guy ships them too! ^^

I translated only the parts with Magica in it. Scrooge becomes host for a cooking show on TV...

So, what do we have here?

First I LOVE how Scrooge and Magica are so casual together. She breaks in, fails, and is like: Ok well my bad, I leave.

But this time he stops her and asked for help with his show or he wont let her go easy... yeah Scrooge... The way you are begging her not to leave sure looks like that...

And Magica just helps him without any ado. Sure, in neaple we love pie, just like my granny (Caraldina NAMEDROP!)

She hasn’t even finished her sentence when he hugs her. TIGHT! Also “You are wonderfull my dear Magica...”. There was NO reason to hug her or give her pet names. But he still does!

She is so flustered by that ♥ What a cutie.

Then he invited her to the show and calls her a friend (ON AIR!). Here I thought he would take the credit for the pie for himself. Wouldn’t that have been the businessman way to do? I mean... the pie was only supposed to be her way out. But NO, let’s show the world I a working together with her (again).

Then the pie exploded and I thought, ok. She tricked him. But after translating the page it shows it only reacted to the garlic in the meatloaf next to it...

So, she wasn’t planing anything. She just... gave him a fantastic pie...

I LOVE Vito Stabile! LOVE HIM!
