magical thing I learned about my car

he can play music off a FLASHDRIVE

like, I'm probably the last person to know about this, but my little VW bug Toothless has a stereo system that (I'm told) was installed in him some time after one of his former owners got him. Among other fascinating features, this console includes a USB port. I had. never considered that I could use this to play music until I got one of those automated sale text messages from a music artist I follow about a USB drive he was selling with EIGHTY songs on it for twenty five dollars.

So naturally I remember Toothless' USB drive and go grab a flashdrive with music (among a million other things) on it and go plug it in to see what happens.

and suddenly there's J.R.R. Tolkien in my car singing "Blunt the Knives", which I didn't even REALIZE was ON the flashdrive and then I go to the next song and when did I download 'Numb' by Linkin Park?!

so, uh, yeah, my car can play music off a flashdrive. if your car ALSO has a USB port you. you might want to check that. because I'm pretty sure it's magic.

every time I hear about people talk about something regarding their standards of work living transportation resources. anything. I have to remind myself I live in Oklahoma and it is often between the 45th and 50th of worst states

I need the universe to stop kicking my ass for five minutes, holy shit

#good news is it looks like it’s the water pump which is ~$400 and my quarterly bonus will come in Friday which should cover it #bad news is I discovered the car needs a new water pump when the power steering went out on the highway #and since I was already driving with a migraine (bad plan for the record) I did not handle it well #I mean I pulled off safely but it was a bit of a kick in the teeth #this is of course on the heels of work cutting my hours again and they’re cutting our annual bonus in half flat #this is supposed to be an enhancement for us somehow #I am still job hunting but holy shit can I get a break?

you guys wouldn’t believe me if i told you how badly my move yesterday went 😭

#the van man came and everything fitted which was good #(though i had to do all the heavy lifting and him none 🙄)#we had to divert to collect some stuff from cardiff #and that had to be delivered to sheffield #and after that guy took half an hour to fucking come home to receive his shit we were off again #and at this point van man has revealed himself as a conspiracy theorist #and then a burning smell #and then the power steering went #he coaxed the van to the service station #only to realise the tensioner (?) is completely shorn #so he tries to bodge it back together #at which point i call my mom #and my brother drives to help me (from 1.5 hours distance away)#we get as much of my stuff in his jazz as we can #and then i have to beg dad to drive the same distance in his car to get the rest #all the while this guy is trying to use cord and gaffa tape to make the van go #and his solution was for my stuff to be taken back to his in lincolnshire #mark the job as ‘complete’ and then drive it up in his wife’s car #and just trust him that i’d receive my stuff by friday #like um :/#and then he’s on the phone talking to his partner abt reporting the thing as stolen #god.#all the while the main motorway has been shut so dad is being led on a wild goose chase by google maps #suffice to say when he finally rolled up i’ve never been more glad

#//juri speaks #car's computer had a fun little seizure on the drive home #first the ABS & traction light came on #then the tire light started blinking #then the center console/radio display kept turning on and off #and then the power steering cut out!#it like. all sorted itself out after i sat on the shoulder for a minute but... aaaaaahhh!#girly i just spent $220 on a new battery pls do not be having another several hundred dollar issue #google says it could be a side-effect of being jumped/getting the battery replaced #but it could also be the alternator #or perhaps computer #neither of which will be cheap i suspect

rewatching good omens season 1 and I've remembered the one thing I was a bit annoyed about - the bentley. it doesn't drive like how a regular car would. the turn it makes heading to the airbase??? no drift. 110 mph and the backend isn't sticking out even by just a smidge. i know its a lot of cgi for it but man they could've at least cgi'd in some drift. crowley deserves to be able to drift that car
