because I rent a car to get out to my office, sometimes I'm confronted with a radio that has wildly different preset stations than I would ever select. mostly this means I have to suffer through a lot of country, or christian talk radio, before I run out of patience and switch over to the stations I like; but other times, it's someone with a thick accent reading a very lengthy advertisement for the Chicago Public Library in an almost....computerized way? and then long carnatic music, with a celtic fiddle breakdown in the middle? with absolutely no explanation for why this is what it is.

.........only afterwards did I discover that it's the station for a nearby university. then it made sense.

Delinquent Road Hazards Headcanons.

Small TWs for drug abuse and bad familial relationships.

Got inspired to make these, so here's some!

Boost:

- Full name is "Kage 'Kato' Hayashi". "Boost" was the first ever American name he was given, given to him by the drop-tank racer himself, and has preferred this name over his actual name. He doesn't view his name as a dead name, but something about the name "Boost" just stuck with him. Only his closest friends, the other gang members, know of his real name.

- Did sewing as a hobby and would post his creations on his main blog. People loved his creations so much that he decided to start his own fashion line. He didn't start right off the bat because he struggled with finding a good name for his company, but he eventually settled on "NITROUS: Outlaw Streetwear." He didn't expect it to blow up in popularity like it did.

- Almost fell into a bad smoking habit when he was in his teens. He doesn't get along with his parents too well, so he, unfortunately, found a toxic coping mechanism which was smoking. He eventually recovered when he crossed paths with DJ and Wingo. He took up working out extensively instead, and he only wished he met them sooner.

- HAIRY BASTARD. Having a naturally tanned complexion wasn't enough for him apparently. He had to be hairy. He used to shave cause he likes how the light shines off of his skin, but he stopped for a week from being busy and he found out really quickly how much the girls LOVED it. Guess you can say it gave him one hell of a confidence boost.

D.J.:

- Suffers from a case of baby face. Yeah, he's the youngest, but his family genetics allow him to hold his age really well. Too well, in fact. He's always getting I.D.ed at the bars the gang goes to. He tries not to complain about it, but his friends pick on him for it.

- The sound system he got from Wingo was actually a collab effort. He's taught himself how to solder and wire stuff correctly from collecting and fixing old stereos and record players. He's eventually earned a degree in it, and he's used his more refined skills on modifying electrical stuff on cars.

- Found himself constantly going back to Radiator Springs to be the DJ for a lot of their events. It was enough for him to make the growing town his current place of residence. Go figure, him living there also attracted more customers due to his decently sized following on Twitter.

- Loves women! None of the members of the gang are straight, but women do something to him. Skinny/chubby, light/dark, short/tall, assets/no assets, even disabled or not, it doesn't matter to him. They're all pretty to him. It's incredibly sweet, but his overly loving personality is also what gets him into trouble. Unfortunately, he's landed a few bad apples, so the boys work together to keep him in line. God bless him.

Wingo:

- Wingo has a lot going on with him when it comes to his past. He does not get along with his parents. It was the typical situation where they thought he was gonna be something great like a doctor, but him being an artist was basically a disgrace. Their relationship was only worsened when they decided to go have ten more kids and tried to thrust their responsibilities onto him. He decided to move out unannounced to America and cut contact completely. This started with him changing his name to Kyle temporarily before he gained the name "Wingo."

- Speaking of his name, he got it from winning his spoiler in an art contest. The moment he saw it, he decided it would funny to take part in the competition as a joke. He didn't expect to win, but when he received the news that he won, he lost his shit laughing. Once it was installed, he knew from that point on that he was meant to have the spoiler. He can't see his car with any other spoiler. It's so ridiculous, but it's ridiculous like him and he would have it no other way.

- Has a deep love and fascination for body markings, it doesn't matter what it is. It can be scars, birthmarks, and even tattoos, he'll love them. It's a big reason why he took up tattooing shortly after he opened his own body shop. He hates it when people judge others for having them, especially when it comes to self harm scars. There may or may not have been a few times where he's come close to strangling someone for it.

- Always switching up his styles. He has a default look, but he's always experimenting. He'll look normal one day, but then comes in the next day decked out in flame designs or some crazy shit. It's not always on the mark, he has some regrets in what he's worn, but you never know less you try.

Snot Rod:

- Chronic rhinitis 100%. Poor dude is always taking antihistamines to try and suppress his allergies with varying degrees of success. The best thing that's worked for him so far is getting the allergy shots. They don't rid the problem completely, but he's noticed a significant decrease in sneezing.

- Gained his Plymouth Barracuda from his uncle. It was originally gonna go towards his father, but since his father has no interest in taking care of such an overpowered car, Snot Rod inherited it. He was already in love with the 'Cuda before it was given to him, so it was just meant to be.

- Picked up sculpting as a hobby after learning the basics in an art class, and he's good at it! He showed some of his creations to an online group where he was told he should do commissions, so he gave it a shot and it winded up taking off. They're mostly small creations, but he occasionally does bigger pieces, and they make him a good bit of money. He even learned to paint so he could bring some extra life to his art pieces.

- Legitimately the only one who can be trusted in anyone's kitchen. His mom taught him to cook and bake, so he actually knows what he's doing. He also doesn't trust anyone in HIS kitchen either. He's almost 30 and spent his whole childhood learning from the best cook ever, he does not have time for you to burn water just to make macaroni in his house.
