Capturing Memories chapter 4

A/n - Chapter 4 finally. This one is fluffy!

The weeks after Shinichiro's death felt like a dream. Baji and Mikey seemed to be on good terms, but you saw through it. The mischievous shine that used to sparkle in Baji’s eyes looked far more dull then you remember. Mikey seemed more driven and determined than ever to grow Toman and create his era. You didn’t go to many of the meetings, because Draken didn’t want you there, but every time you managed to convince him to let you come along, it seemed Toman had almost doubled in size.

You dedicated a lot of your free time between Mitsuya and Emma. Draken would bring you to the Sano house when Toman would have meetings. You didn’t like the idea of leaving Emma alone, and to be honest, you didn’t like being alone either. “So, how has Mikey been?” You asked Emma as she passed you a bottle of soda.

She sighed, “He acts like he is ok, but he’s moved into Shin’s old room out back.”

“Yeah, Draken mentioned something about that.” Looking down at your can, you knew Mikey wasn’t as ok as he looked. His eyes were darker lately. Almost cruel. It reminded you of the look he had when he was confronted on the way to the beach. “How about you?” You looked up at Emma.

Her smile didn’t quite reach her eyes, and you knew it was forced, “I will be ok. Just takes time, you know?”

“Let’s get out of the house then.” You smiled up at Emma, “Grab your coat, let’s go get something to eat.”

Jumping up, Emma grabbed her coat, “That sounds really good actually. Where do you want to go?”

“You choose.” linking arms, you both walked out of the Dojo.

You had grown a lot closer to Mitsuya also. A fact that Emma loved to point out. As much as you tried to tell her that it was just because the girls needed a babysitter, or Mitsuya needed help with chores. You would meet at the park between the brothel and Mitsuya’s apartment. Usually Hakkai would follow Mitsuya, still too shy to speak to you. You always made sure to have your camera, snapping pictures of Luna and Mana playing with Hakkai or their brother. Once and a while, Hakkai’s sister would come too.

You tried not to feel jealous as she spoke to Mitsuya, he was just being nice after all. A part of you wondered if he had feelings for her. When he smiled at her, it looked different then the one he had for you.

One of the days that Hakkai and his sister had tagged along to the park, he walked up beside you, “You know, he doesn’t like her like that. She sees him more like a brother.” he wasn’t even looking at you as he spoke. Instead staring at his sister and Mitsuya.

To say you were shocked was an understatement. The first time he has ever spoken to you, and it was to reassure you that Mitsuya was not interested in his sister. Was it that obvious? You scoffed, “I have no idea what you’re talking about?”

“You’re all he talks about, you know that? Other than his sisters of course. It’s almost annoying, but I get it.” He looked down at you and smiled.

“Oi, Hakkai, you finally speaking to y/n.” Mitsuya called out as he walked over, Yuzuha following behind, checking her phone.

“Hakkai, we need to get going soon. Taiju will be home soon.” She called out.

Hakkai just sighed. “Yeah, let's go then I guess”

Luna and Mana clung to Hakkai’s legs, “Noooo, please stay!”

Hakkai looked down at the girls, “I will play with you guys again soon, ok?” a wide grin spreading across his face.

Both their faces lit up at that and they ran back to the swings while Hakkai and Yuzuha turned around, “Oh yeah, Y/n, don’t forget what I said.” Hakkai called back to you, smiling.

“What’s that about?” Mitsuya asked, your face turning bright red.

“Its nothing!” turning your face so he wouldn’t see your blush.

Mitsuya felt the burn of jealousy lick at his throat as he swallowed, “Well, want to come with us to get some stuff for dinner?” His voice strained to sound casual as he forced a smile towards you.

“Yes, of course.” You called the girls, letting them know to get ready to leave.

Shopping with Mitsuya was always fun. The girls always tried to convince him to buy treats, although you knew he was only given a small amount of money by his mother, he was a good cook and knew how to stretch a meal.

Back at the apartment, you helped Mitsuya prep dinner by cutting vegetables. He smiled at you, commenting on your technique as you stuck your tongue out at him in retaliation. Mana and Luna watched from around the corner, smirking at you both.

Once dinner was cooked, Mitsuya put some aside for his mother and served the girls. After dinner, you helped Mitsuya clean the dishes, finishing when his mother returned from work, “Oh y/n, you’re here.” His mother commented.

Drying your hands on a towel, you turned and bowed to Mitsuya’s mother, “Good evening. How are you today?”

“Oh I am good dear. I see you’re here helping Takashi again.” She smiled, a knowing look in her eyes.

Blushing, you replied, “Oh, um, yeah, the girls wanted to see me. But uh, I think I should head home now”

“Hmm, yes, they do really seem to enjoy spending time with you.” She turned her attention to Mitsuya, “Takashi, you should take y/n home. She can’t walk home this late. It's not safe.”

You almost missed the dusting of pink on Mitsuya’s face, “Yeah, sure. Come on y/n.” He grabbed your hand, gently pulling you out of the house before looking down, noticing he was holding hands with you. You looked down at the same time, your hand gripping his tighter.

“Hey, Mitsuya -” You started

“Takashi! Just, call me Takashi please” he quietly interrupted you.

You smiled, “Takashi, I don’t want to go home yet…” mumbling, you looked down at your feet.

Tugging your hand, he pulled you towards his bike, “Let’s go for a ride then, yeah?”

You had never ridden with Mitsuya before. Usually Draken insisted you ride with him. Nodding, you grabbed the helmet, “These always mess up my hair.”

He laughed, “I’ve seen your hair messed up from a helmet before y/n”

Huffing, you put the helmet on as Mitsuya swung his leg over his bike, holding his hand out to help you. You noticed it was a little sweaty, but you did not comment on it. Yours was probably the same. You gripped Mitsuya’s shirt at the sides, too nervous to wrap your arms around him. Turning the key, the bike roared to life, making you jump.

Mitsuya chuckled and glanced behind you, while you stuck out your tongue. Kicking the stand up, he twisted the throttle. His bike jolted forward, causing you to grab around his waist, so you would not fall off. “Takashi!” You called to him, annoyed. You felt his chest rumble as he laughed. He sped down the street, taking you the opposite direction of the brothel.

You watched the bright lights of Shibuya from the back of the bike as Mitsuya sped down streets and past stores. He turned the bike down a suburban area, and then finally brought it to a stop at a shrine. “Hey, y/n?” Mitsuya slid off his bike, turning to look at you. “I am just wondering, and no pressure if you do, but uh, do you have a thing for Hakkai?” Mitsuya was rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

You doubled over in laughter, catching Mitsuya by surprise. “ You thought!” another laugh erupted from you, “Hakkai and me!” Mitsuya looked at you annoyed as you wiped a few tears from your eyes, “No Takashi” you giggled again, “Hakkai just spoke to me for the first time today. How would he have even asked me out?”

Mitsuya scowled, “I mean, he could have asked you out.”

“Takashi,” You looked deeply into Mitsuya’s lilac eyes, “He only spoke to me to tell me that I was jealous for no reason.”

“Jealous?” Mitsuya asked.

“Yeah, I thought you and Yuzuha were..” You trailed off.

Mitsuya blushed, “We were what? Dating?” he shook his head, “No, y/n. She’s like a sister to me.” suddenly he smiled at you, “You were jealous of Yuzuha, huh?”

“You smacked his arm playfully, “Yeah, I was.” it was your turn to blush, “I didn’t want you to be with anyone else.”

“Anyone else?” he asked.

“Yeah, I want you to be with me.” you grabbed his hand again, surprising him, “I really hope you feel the same?”

Mitsuya answered you by resting his hand on your cheek, his smile was so sweet and his eyes never left yours. He pulled you closer to him, “Can I kiss you?” he asked you, his lips inches from yours.

You nodded and he closed the distance, his lips brushing against yours. You tilted your head back, bringing your hands up to rest on his neck. One of his hands wrapped around your back, pulling you closer while the other gripped the back of your neck. Your heart felt like it had fireworks in it. You hoped he could not feel your heartbeat.

Reluctantly, you both pulled away. Mitsuya opened his eyes to see you looking at him, “That was..”

“Amazing.” you finished. “I have been wanting to do that for a long time.”

Mitsuya chuckled, “Yeah, me too.” He glanced at his phone, “Oh shit, its late! Draken is going to kill you if you don’t get home soon.”

You pouted, “I don’t want to go home yet.”

“Listen, I’ll pick you up tomorrow and bring you to the meeting. We won't tell Draken, so he can’t say no.” Mitsuya handed you the helmet and climbed back onto the bike.

Nodding, you put the helmet back on and slid on behind him, wrapping your hands around him tightly.

The ride to the brothel felt short. Draken heard Mitsuya’s bike and was waiting outside for you. “Hey, what are you guys up to?” a knowing smirk on his face.

“Takashi is just driving me home.” sliding off the bike, you passed the helmet back to Mitsuya.

“Takashi huh?” Draken looked between the two of you. “All I’m gonna say is, be good to my sister. I know that you know what’ll happen if you aren’t” as he walked back into the brothel

Mitsuyas mouth clamped shut as you stammered, “Wait, Ken, what exactly do you think is going on?” You called out to him, turning to follow him.

“Y/n!” Mitsuya called to you.

“Yeah Takashi?” You turned back.

He smiled, already loving the way his name sounded coming from your lips. “So there's a festival soon. In just a couple weeks. Do you want to go with me?”

“Yes. Of course I will.” You answered immediately.

Mitsuya smiled, “Ok, so it’s a date.” and started his bike.

Giddy, you walked inside and skipped to the elevator. Draken was waiting for you outside your room, “So, you guys a thing now?”

“Not that it’s any of your business, but yeah, I think so.” You shot at him.

“Hey, I’m just wondering. Mitsuya is a good guy, and you two were painfully obvious.” Draken shrugged.

You stammered, “What.. what do you mean?” you crossed your arms, “Kinda like you and Emma huh?”

Draken turned to you, his face red, “No! Nothing like that!”

You laughed as he scoffed at you.

“Anyway,” he tried to change the subject, “Mikey heard about a fighting ring during school hours, I guess they’re using Tomans name, so can you please try to stay safe if you walk? I don’t want you to get caught up in something dangerous? Understand?”

You nodded. You knew Toman was growing, so that meant they were also becoming targets to some of the bigger gangs. You also knew other gangs were not as kind to women as Toman was. “Yeah, Ken. I’ll be careful.” You smiled, hoping to ease his worries.

Draken turned away, “Maybe get Takashi to start driving you home?” He teased as he walked away.

You threw your coat at him, “Ken! Shut up!”
