The zebra swallowtail has black and white stripes running the length of its body with red and blue spots on the lower back. 🌸Tennessee Coneflower (Echinacea tennesseensis) is one of two Tennessee State wildflowers, designated an official state wildflower in 2012 and found only in the limestone and cedar glades of Middle Tennessee. Ladybugs help gardeners and farmers by eating tiny insect pests that damage plants. A ladybug can consume up to 60 aphids per day, and will also eat a variety of other harmful insects and larvae (including scales, mealy bugs, leaf hoppers, mites, and other types of soft-bodied insects), as well as pollen and nectar. Ladybugs produce a chemical that smells and tastes terrible as protection from predators. Ohio, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Delaware also designate the ladybug as an official state symbol. 🔹According to John Losey, a Cornell University entomologist who leads the Lost Ladybug Project. Also called red cedar, eastern juniper, red juniper, pencil cedar, or aromatic cedar, this evergreen is indigenous to the entire state of Tennessee and was one of the earliest landscape trees used by early pioneers. 🔹 Cedar Waxwing birds love to eat these berries... that the seeds are 4x more likely to sprout if processed through the droppings of a Cedarwaxwing.
