Yeah you thought I was done with Captain? Never he’s my specialist little blorbo.
Ok so back when I was in full Cap’n mode I promised myself I’d animate this line if I ever got the skills and well ... now I do! So here he is because I’ll be damned before I forget him and my promise.
Also I just. Need the practise :)

"Full steam ahead!" (How is that captain of all characters quote, it's like having Boulder say "Love and peace")
“Bulstrode is a disagreeable barge. He never stops complaining!”
“By land or sea, no one's faster than me!”

Asagiri needs to stop lying to himself and stop praising Bones for animating BSD that studio is destroying his life work I'm serious.
#i know its a big thing for an author to get his work animated but bones version of BSD is a ship sinking quicker than the titanic#stop playing captain of this ship and switch to a lifeboat I'm serious#this series honestly deserves so much better#Dazais and Akutagawas characters are so blank in the anime they might as well be caricatures#Chuuya is lucky most of his characterization is in the lightnovels#the rest of the cast is completely fucked tho

me: okay im pretty tired so im just gonna find something light to watch
video about the rms laconia: exists
me: oh hey, i know that one pretty well, i wont end up angry crying about it this time. clicks on video
an hour later
me: is angry crying about it this time
#kai rambles#...listen#ive said like ten thousand times that im a ship person but not a warship person#but i know about a fairly decent amount of them#mostly because a lot of liners got requisitioned on ww1 or ww2#or were secretly helping the war effort like lusitania#so like i know about lusitania or the captain or hood or sydney etc.#olympics dazzle paint for the war effort is actually a really cool topic#but like#obviously a lot of warship stories are very tragic like the uss indianapolis#and the laconia#but the laconia is just like being punched over and over and over again#because even before the disaster youve got italians pows on board who were being treated awfully and someone having to stand up and stop it#them youve alsl got her being unaccompanied on her route despite being a target and needing it because the navy just didnt have the boats#which led to some officers and civilian passengers feeling overconfident because ''we dont need an escort'' and oh yeah there were civilian#specifically the wives and CHILDREN of the sailors or soldiers#and to make it worse shes over 20 years old and needs new boilers and anywhere she goes a giant black cloud of smoke follows from her funne#so shes an easy target which led to her a u-boat torpedoing her and her sinking which also had this thing where they tried to trap the pows#in the ship so everyone else could get off which fuck that and also it was listing so not all the lifeboats could be launched and most were#overcrowded and also there were sharks atfacking them#and then the u-boat is coming nearer but when the captain realises who were on board HE STARTS A RESCUE EFFORT#and he lies to base and manages to organise a rescue with other u-boats (preventing an attack actually) but then hitler gets wind of it and#he cancels that and tells them to leave the survivors to their fates SO THIS GUY DISOBEYS HITLER AND MAKES A DESPERATE CALL IN ENGLISH TO#THE ALLIES ASKING FOR RESCUE PROMISING NOT TO ATTACK IF THEY DONT ATTACK AND GIVING HIS POSITION TO THEM#and they don't even believe it for two days straight but eventually a few more u-boats arrive to help with promises from italy france &#britain to help and like theyve got a 1000 people mostly in lifeboats tied to the u-boats flying the red cross. and in the night the u-boat#on scene get separated and an american bomber arrives on scene and the survivors think rescues coming but then the bomber gets orders#TO SINK THE U-BOAT SO THEY FIRE OFF THREE ATTACKS WITH ONE JUST LANDING WITHIN THE LIFEBOATS KILLING PEOPLE#and the u-boat guy ends up having to leave the scene because hes fearful for his crew now understandably and the survivors just have to wai#for rescue which does come. but wanna know what happened to the bomber and the guy who gave the order? NOTHING. NOT EVEN AN INVESTIGATION

Those same people will ALSO get upset if you don't prepare a backup and you mess something up, and they'll remember it forever to the point that you ask them to do something and they're like "hmm but you forgot your keys once in 1997, are you sure you can really be responsible enough to do that?"
Being an ADHD adult is fun when people seem to get... personally offended when you are aware that you've failed, forgotten, or neglected something before, and plan your life with that awareness in mind. Like how does that work, that being able to plan and prepare for things not working out as intended is mature and responsible, acknowledging your own faults and flaws is mature and responsible, but somehow it's childish and immature to acknowledge that you are the liability in every situation, and prepare accordingly?
Like they'll look at you like you just called their dog a slur and just go "don't just already assume that you're going to [have a symptom], just don't [have the symptom] in the first place!" Like oh shit right damn. Titanic only sank because of the lifeboats. If there had been zero lifeboats on the ship, the crew would have been more motivated to do their jobs perfectly and everything would have been fine. Failsafe plans are demons that summon failure, the only sensible thing is to only plan for perfection and naturally assume that everything can only go flawlessly.
Like bruh.
#also just saying there were a critical lack of lifeboats on The Titanic#and people raised this as a safety issue only to be told “it's unsinkable it's not a problem!”#so like yeah maybe the captain SHOULD have used that as motivation to be a little more careful knowing there was no Plan B

Part of Her World 𓇼
rhaenyra targaryen x mermaid! oc
Summary: A mermaid princess finds the only person who understands her in a princess from another world
Word count: 3.5k
CW: None!
A/N- I use a character name for this because it was easier for me to write but it can still be read as an x reader because that's what I had in mind writing it! I am seriously considering making this a series saurr let me know if you'd be interested!
Above the thrashing, powerful waves of the deep blue sea, a ship headed by a golden dragon cut through the tides like a swordfish.
Rhaenyra Targaryen's hair blew wildly around her face in wild silver waves as she overlooked the sea from the side of the great ship. She was in the midst of her betrothal tour- a humiliating ritual where she sailed from house to house and offered herself up like a piece of meat to the great lords. The young princess desperately longed for freedom, and here, during these quiet moments, alone on her ship, she felt that she could get a mere taste of it. At night, when she was meant to be getting the proper amount of beauty rest for a royal princess, she would sneak out and watch the sailors in their evening merriment. Drinking and singing shanties. Life at sea gave them freedom. Total control over their lives and fates. No one was forcing them to dress up like dolls and present themselves to bidders. Rhaenyra truly longed for the same.
As she should, a light sprinkle began to drop from the air. Rhaenyra didn't acknowledge the way the raindrops glazed her face, wishing the sea would swallow her whole.
"You should go inside, princess," the profoundly irritating voice of Ser Criston Cole cut through the soft music of the rain, disrupting Rhaenyra's peace. "I imagine the weather will only get worse as we approach the Stormlands."
"I am not made of sugar, Ser Criston," Rhaenyra said, exasperated. "I will not be washed away with the rain."
"Of course not, your grace, but in fact you are our princess. You must be protected and kept in perfect health at all times. Now, if you please," Ser Criston tried to pull her to her chambers, but she shrugged him off.
"What if I do not want to be as my father is, Ser Criston?" asked Rhaenyra. "Complacent. Too afraid to take risks, cut off from the rest of the world. What if my desire is to fly to the edge of the Narrow Sea on Syrax and find new ways to better our kingdom. The world advances while we remain stuck in the days of the conquest."
"It does not do well to live in fantasies, princess. Now that you've come of age, your responsibilities lie at home. Your father expects it of you."
"Yes, for me to remain cooped away in that castle in isolation and fear forever. I can't live like that. I can't explain it. Perhaps it's the blood of the dragon making me restless. But even now, I can't help but feel that there's something here calling to me.
"Princess—" a violent bump abruptly interrupted the white cloak. The knight and the princess both turned. In the distance, they could see a dark cloud highlighted with thunder and lightning.
The captain noticed at the same time. "Storm coming in fast, all hands on deck!" The first mate parroted the message, and the entire ship descended into chaos. Sailors rapidly climbed the mast, desperately cutting the lines, as the first mate rushed to the helm and furiously spun the wheel, attempting to guide the ship away.
"We need a lifeboat for the princess, immediately!" Cole shouted at the deckhands, pulling Rhaenyra by her arm.
Rhaenyra watched as lightning struck the mast, and fire quickly spread across the deck. Her eyes widened at the catastrophe. Deckhands rapidly cut a lifeboat free, tossing it into the water for the young princess.
"Hurry, your grace!" Cole attempted to shove Rhaenyra into the boat, but she would not go.
"No! The sailors and my ladies first!" She broke free and ran, shouting like a mad woman for all the men and her ladies in waiting to board the lifeboats themselves. The sailors didn't need to be told twice, and though they attempted to encourage her to join them, she refused, searching for every soul aboard to make sure they'd escape safely.
"Madeline!" Rhaenyra shouted her lady's name. The small girl was curled up in a corner, holding Rhaenyra's little dog, Meria.
"Princess!" Madeline yelled, relieved.
"Come! Quickly come!" Rhaenyra grabbed Madeline and pulled her across the burning deck. Avoiding the masts as they crashed down and the canons as they rolled from side to side. Rhaenyra helped Madeline rise to the rail and jump, the dog still in hand. Rhaenyra watched as the pair hit the sea. The violent waves separated them. While Madeline was quickly pulled aboard a lifeboat, Myria lingered behind, desperately paddling to get to the boat. Rhaenyra panicked, but suddenly, it was like a gravitational force took hold of the dog and pulled her to safety. If it hadn't been a life or death situation, Rhaenrya would have pondered how it happened. However, given the circumstances, she quickly took it upon herself to climb onto the rail. But just as she was about to jump, the entire ship turned on its side, and she fell backward into the black sea.
All she saw was fire. Her lungs filled with water as the sigil of the mighty House Targaryen burned. A flash of purple. And then it all went dark.
˖°𓇼🌊⋆🐚🫧🧜🏼♀️⋆.˚
Children of the sea do not have tears. It is that fact, perhaps, that separates the merfolk from the humans. Long shimmering tails and siren songspells aside, the simplest divider was that when humans were hurt, they wept. But when the young royal princess of the Carinae Sea, which humans called the Blackwater Bay, was upset, all she could do was swim for hours around her gilded cage of coral and cowrie stone.
Princess Lerína angrily swam through the seaweed drapes that kept her grotto hidden from all others. Her powerful tail thrust behind her, creating a shining kaleidoscope of purple and blue. As she frustratedly sat down on the large rock on the ocean floor she'd made into her little sofa, her long black hair, a mass of braids and flowing curls decorated with shells and pearls, cascaded around her head, irritating her further.
"He just doesn't understand, I don't have to see things the way he does!" she said angrily to Flounder, her childhood companion.
The princess and the little fish had just been scolded by her father, King Oceanus, for spending time on land.
The day had started a happy one. Lerína had managed to escape the watchful eye of Kunle- the crab majordomo her father had assigned to watch after her, met up with Flounder and gone to find Scuttle- her seabird friend- to show him her recent human finds. Her latest favorite was what he called a Dinglehopper, used to create an aesthetically pleasing hairdo. She'd returned to the castle smiling, saying hello to every shark who made up her father's kingsguard and humming sweet songs. However, the day turned sour when Flounder accidentally mentioned to her father, King of The Seven Seas, that she'd been spending time on the surface again. Her father had done what he always did. Yelled, waved around that trident of his, and said that of every problem in the sea, she was his most troublesome. He'd given her the usual reminder that she would soon be married to a noble merman and that her fixation on the human world would not make her a more desirable bride. Bringing up how humans butchered the queen, however, was an unusual low blow. The reminder of her mother's fate sent shivers down Lerína's spine.
Now, as she was sitting in her grotto, the one place she had to herself, she pondered her father's words. Looking around, she took in the beauty of her human treasures: the shimmering little gold coins she'd found in a pouch lost in a kelp forest, the countless books written in a human language she couldn't understand, and the gold sphere with two glass ends that made everything bigger she'd just found that very day.
Lerína chuckled dryly. "I just don't understand how a world that makes such wonderful things could be so bad. I just wish I could learn more about them. See them dancing, walking around on those… what do you call them?" she asked, gesturing to her fins.
"Feet!" Flounder responded joyfully.
"Oh, right," Lerína smiled. "Up there, they just walk and run wherever they want! Wandering free, without the constant eyes of crab babysitters and shark guards watching their every move. Tides, I wish I could be part of that world." Lerína looked up at the circular opening at the top of her grotto, admiring the colors the rapidly vanishing sun cast onto the ocean surface.
"Well, what would you do there? If you could," Flounder asked.
Before the young mermaid could respond, she noticed the colors she'd admired just moments before being blocked out. A ship, she thought. She'd never seen one so close. Real live humans, so near that she imagined she could hear their voices through the waves. With the reminder of her impending doom wedding looming over her, Lerína, it occurred to Rhaenyra that this may be her first and last chance to ever see humans up close.
Father will never know.
"Lerína, I know that look. It's the bad idea look. What are you-" The little fish was abruptly interrupted by a powerful gust created by the sea princess's tail as she rapidly swam for the surface, quite literally chasing her dream. As she grew closer to the surface, she reached out her arm in front of her, desperate to be close to humanity.
And when she breached, she couldn't believe what she saw.
The ship was smaller than most of the wrecks she'd seen underwater, but it was still the most stunning thing she'd ever seen. The wood was a rich brown, with a golden sharp-toothed creature at the head. Lerína believed the beast to be a dragon. She'd heard stories of dragons as a child. While tails, songspells, and salt ruled the seas, fire, blood, and wings ruled the skies. She'd been told that rulers of the human world chained them up and rode them like seahorses- just another sign of how primitive they were. And at the top, two large black sheets with a three-headed red dragon on them.
Dragons have three heads? Lerína thought. I wonder how humans came to control them.
She swam up close to the ship, admiring the craftsmanship of each groove and hook.
"Isn't this amazing?" Lerína semi-rhetorically asked.
"NO! It's terrifying! Let's go home!" said a panicked Flounder.
Lerína shot him a look and continued on, ignoring him calling her.
She swam alongside the ship, coming across what appeared to be another boat tied to the larger ship. Only much, much smaller. She wondered what use humans could possibly have of one that size. As she took it in, she noticed two people conversing. Her heart skipped a beat. She'd never seen them this close. She wanted to get a better look, so she did something perhaps dangerous. Grabbing onto the small boat with both of her hands, she pulled herself inside the contraption, her long tail hanging out of the side.
There was a small hole in the ship's side, and she took a better peak to see the pair more clearly. The man was rather plain-looking, she supposed. Brown hair, a round face, and a strange, metallic, heavy-looking suit. He reminded her of Tíeres- her father's kingsguard who used to follow her around. Nothing particularly special physically, besides the fact that he had legs rather than fins. But the girl who stood beside him… the very sight of her made Lerína's fins tingle, and her eyes widened with a feeling similar to awe.
She didn't look like any of the pictures Lerína had found on the seafloor. Her hair was nearly as long as Lerína's, flowing like an ocean wave in beautiful ringlets down her back. Her skin was pale as a pearl, with pink lips like the corals her sister, Calypso, grew in her bedchamber. But the feature that stood out the most, the one that made Lerína's heart flutter, was the eyes. Lerína had never seen eyes like the girl's before. They were a beautiful shade of lavender, pure and bright. Lerína felt like she could see the girl's spirit through her eyes, a gentle yet regal and powerful one. She felt as though she could get lost in those eyes and never return.
Another thing she noticed was that the girl wore a crown. Similar to her own, but instead of rainbow abalone, pearls, and cone shells, the girl's was made out of gold, with three ruby eyed dragons in the middle. Lerína wondered if the girl was some form of a princess on land. Her question was swiftly answered as she heard the man speak.
"You should go inside, princess. I imagine the weather will only get worse as we approach the Stormlands."
A princess, like me.
"I am not made of sugar, Ser Criston," the girl said, and Lerína knew that irritated tone well. It was the very same one she frequently used on Kunle. "I will not be washed away with the rain."
"Of course not, your grace, but in fact you are our princess. You must be protected and kept in perfect health at all times. Now, if you please," the man said.
"What if I do not want to be as my father is, Ser Criston? Complacent.
Lerína had never felt more seen or understood by anyone. Her six sisters had all taken to their roles as rulers of their seas with ease. They knew their place in the world and fit into it. Meanwhile Lerína never seemed to get anything right, much to her father's displeasure. They could never see eye to eye, and every stroke of her tail felt like a mistake, a disappointment. She knew what happened to her mother, and yet she always felt like there was room for progress. Contact with humans could help dawn a new era for their people. She felt foolish sometimes for thinking such things. But this girl, a girl from another world, she understood.
Suddenly, the ship, and the little boat in which Lerína sat began to shake violently. A man in a pointy hat ran across the deck, shouting "Storm coming in fast! All hands on deck!"
Suddenly all the humans began to scurry around like a panicked school of fish, tugging on ropes and climbing around. The man in the metal suit pulled the violet eyed girl away- much to Lerína's disappointment. She rose up on her arms to try to get a better glimpse, but the girl was already on the other side of the ship.
"Lerína, watch out!" Flounder's voice called out.
Lerína turned to see a group of large rocks right in front of her. She quickly hopped out of the boat and dove into the water, escaping just seconds before the boat was destroyed. She swam around, surfacing again to see the entire ship had descended into chaos. Bright, hot wisps of orange and red were rapidly spreading across the deck, and Lerína realized that this was fire. She had previously thought fire only existed in small boxes in human homes to keep them warm, but this fire was certainly not that. Everywhere the wisps went in their violent dance things broke and shattered. The humans used knives, similar to the stone and shell ones merfolk used, to cut free more boats like the one Lerína had hid in, and quickly jumped overboard into them.
Lerína watched as the land princess helped a brown haired girl, and a furry creature with a tail jump over. The girl was able to make it onto a boat, but the other creature was being pushed back under the waves. Lerína took a risk, diving under the water, grabbing hold of the creature and pushing it towards the boat, dipping under it just before she could be seen by any of the humans.
She swam back around to the side of the ship, looking for the girl, just barely catching a glimpse of her before the entire ship turned on its side, and the girl fell backwards into the sea. Lerína swam around the front of the ship as quickly as a swordfish, tossing away priceless human items in search of the girl. She was nearly crushed as a statue of a woman came flying at her from the ship, but she narrowly dodged it. She dove down deeper, finally seeing the girl sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss. Lerína swam as fast as she could, quickly taking hold of the girl and bringing her to the surface.
Above the sea, as the waves rocked them back and forth and the burning remains of the ship illuminated the night, Lerína felt a strange sense of calm. She looked down upon the girl in her arms, and she looked so peaceful and beautiful. Lerína's heart fluttered once again. Saving a human would go against everything she had ever been taught. If she ever came in contact with them she was meant to swiftly escape, and in the worst case, use her siren song to kill. As she looked down on the most beautiful face she'd ever seen, Lerína knew what she had to do.
So she held the girl tighter, and allowed the waves to swallow them whole.
˖°𓇼🌊⋆🐚🫧🧜🏼♀️⋆.˚
She had never been this far from Atlantis before. She could feel the dry sand burning her hands and the top of her tail, while the waves caressed her fins back and forth. Her hair was damp against her back, and the land princess was in her arms.
Lerína laid the girl on her back against the sand, immediately leaning against her chest to check for a heartbeat. When she couldn't hear one through the girl's thick, fuzzy red and black garment, Lerína quickly unbuttoned it and pulled it apart, leaving the girl in nothing but a thin gown, which, in its dampened state, made the girl's breasts plainly visible. Lerína's cheeks, for no reason she understood, got hot. She shook the girl a few times, trying to rouse her. Finally, the girl coughed a few times, spitting out seawater. Lerína moved back, preparing to escape before she could be noticed. But when the princess didn't move, Lerína did something foolish.
Taking a deep breath, Lerína closed her eyes, and began to sing.
˖°𓇼🌊⋆🐚🫧🧜🏼♀️⋆.˚
Rhaenyra didn't know where she was and she didn't know what was going on. Vague memories quickly flashed through her mind. Her tour, talking with Ser Criston, saving her ladies and her friends, and going under the water.
Suddenly, there was a voice. A voice so enchanting it flowed through the mist of her mind like a beacon of pure light. It was like a siren guiding her back home. She could barely open her eyes, only being able to make out a girl with long hair- she couldn't make out the color. From what little she could tell, it wasn't anyone she knew, and yet she felt incredibly safe and trusted her immediately. With what little strength she had, she lifted her hand and placed it above the girl's hand on her chest. But just as she was starting to regain her full vision, voices began to shout and call her name. The girl's hand quickly left her chest, and she vanished on the beach like seafoam.
˖°𓇼🌊⋆🐚🫧🧜🏼♀️⋆.˚
Lerína, hidden behind a large rock, watched as a group of men and women descended down the mountain, all surrounding the girl in a panic.
"Princess!" "Your grace!" "Rhaenyra," they cried as they gathered around her.
The man in the metal suit Lerína remembered from the ship lifted the princess in his hands and carried her back up the mountain, the entourage following behind him.
Suddenly, Lerína was overcome with a feeling she could not explain. But somehow she knew, from this moment on, things would never be the same as they were.
I don't know when, I don't know how, but I know something's started right now. Someday, I just know I'll be part of her world.
She watched as the princess was carried over the mountain and disappeared when she realized something—she knew the princess's name.
Rhaenyra, she thought. I'll be part of Rhaenyra's world.

APRIL 15TH 1912 - TITANIC SINKS
Captain Smith demands that an emergency request for assistance be broadcast to all ships within range. However the nearest ship, the Californian, has turned off her wireless for the evening after receiving Phillips’ curt response earlier in the evening. Tragically, the ship was a mere 20 miles away and could have reached Titanic before she sank. Captain Smith gives the order to start loading the lifeboats on the Titanic, women and children first.
At 12.45am the first lifeboat is launched. She leaves with just 28 of a possible 65 people on board. The first of eight emergency distress rockets is fired. At 2.20am Titanic slips beneath the surface of the water. At 8.30am The last of the lifeboats is rescued by the Carpathia. The Californian arrives at the scene and navigates the disaster area looking for survivors. The Carpathia sets sail for New York, with 705 survivors aboard. In total around 1,522 victims are believed lost at sea. Aboard Carpathia, Bruce Ismay sends a telegram to the White Star Line’s New York office - it read "Deeply regret advise you Titanic sank this morning after collision with iceberg, resulting in serious loss of life. Full particulars later."
More than 1,500 people died during the sinking of the Titanic. Of the ship's crew members, approximately 700 died. Another high fatality rate was among third class passengers. Of approximately 710 passengers in third class, around 174 people survived.

Take what you can. Give nothing back...pt.2
Part 1
Throughout his time spent on Ramshackle, Rollo got to see how Homura's crew function and how Captain Homura commands them. Of course, he also got to meet the other Seven Sovereigns of the NRSeas and hear their very understandable and harsh words they had about him and the Government.
Captain Rosehearts suggests Captain Homura should keep him in the brig for the time being. Captain Kingscholar voices that they should just put him on a lifeboat with some food and water and let him find his own way back. Captain Ashengrotto asks if they can use him for a trade deal. Captain Al-Asim talks about letting Rollo return home only for Second-Mate Viper to cut him off, stating that it's a bad idea to leave him to his own devices.
Captain Schoenheit agrees and scolded Captain Homura for even rescuing him in the first place. Captain Shroud meekly spoke about how it'll be best to just keep Rollo far away from them. Finally, Captain Draconia speaks calmly about the manner of exploding Government ships in the area, which draws in everyone's attention.
While they refuse to talk about that while in the presence of Rollo, they shoo him out of the room and slam the door. Once the summit ends, Yuu places him back on Ramshackle and they said towards one of the islands where he can return home.
....Over time, Rollo finds himself growing attached to the crew and their antics and they welcome him as a makeshift member. He also sees how Captain Yuu is quick to rush towards the aid of defenseless ships if they're being attacked by another pirate ship. Rollo also finds himself growing closer to the Captain of Ramshackle and soon enough....falls in love.
Now, returning to the home port is tough, but Rollo does it in order to relinquish his title and join Yuu's pirate crew. It's there he learns that he was supposed to die that die in order to lure in Yuu...who is the daughter of Tia Dalma....
"Calypso...."
"Indeed, and due to the fact that you failed to bring her to us..."
Searing pain explodes in Rollo's chest and he looks to see a sword had been plunged into his heart.
"You are no longer of use to us."

A pirate's life for me
Written for the @steddieholidaydrabbles, day 11
Prompt: Cabin
Rated: M
Tags: Pirate AU; Implied child abuse; Flirting; Sexual tension; Dubcon if you squint, Steve is very into it, promise; Fade to black sex
Notes: Probably not the kind of cabin @steddieas-shegoes had in mind, but I wanted to write more Pirate AU
When Steve was a little boy, he loved playing pirates. Most little boys do - not that he knew a lot of other little boys. Every time he was starting to make friends, the Royal Navy would send his father to some other port town, and they’d have to move again. Most of the time, it was just him, alone in his bedroom. His bed would be his ship, the canopy its sails. He begged the cook for an old tablecloth and painted a skull and crossbones on it, keeping it hidden in a corner of his closet when he wasn’t using it. In his fantasies, he’d sail off to distant shores and have fantastic adventures, and escape the boredom and the loneliness for a while.
Until his father caught him.
The bruises on his face hurt for weeks, but it was nothing compared to the sting behind his eyes as his father dragged him out into the yard and forced him to burn the flag. Steve didn’t cry - he knew it would only get him into more trouble. Instead, he stood and bit his split lip while his father made him watch the flames, berating him all the while about the bane of the seas that pirates were. Steve would remember his words for the rest of his life.
*
When Steve was a young man, he stole one of his father’s ships and sailed off to assemble his own pirate crew. Somehow, it felt wildly preferable to the life his parents had planned for him. Join the military like his father, marry a girl his mother picked. He’d choose the freedom of the open sea and a life of adventure over this any day, thank you very much.
He was an idiot, of course.
It took all of a month for Billy Hargrove to turn his crew against him, leaving Steve to float on the ocean in a nutshell of a lifeboat, waiting for death to claim him.
Except it wasn’t death who found him. It was the Devil of the Hellfire.

“Are you always this charming?”
Steve flinches back to attention. “Huh?”
Munson uses the half-eaten chicken leg in his hand to gesture at Steve’s untouched plate. His rings glint in the candlelit captain’s cabin, and his dark eyes sparkle with glee.
“Really now, darling,” he tuts. “I saved your life. I nursed you back to health. I’m feeding you the nicest dinner my cook has prepared in months, I even opened the good wine for you, and all you can say is huh? You’d think your fancy tutors would’ve taught you better manners.”
“Apologies,” Steve scoffs. “We never covered the proper protocol for being held captive on a pirate ship.”
Munson, who has just taken a large sip of wine, snorts so hard it comes shooting out his nose. He grabs a napkin off the table to wipe his face.
“Sweetheart, you wound me,” he says, once he's finally stopped laughing. Under the table, a calloused hand slides up Steve’s thigh. “You're not my prisoner, you're my guest.”
“Oh?” Steve crosses his arms. The silk shirt he's been given rustles with it. “Is this how you treat all your guests? Keep them locked up in your cabin? Insist they earn their fare by … whatever the hell this is supposed to be?”
“Only guests as pretty as you,” Munson purrs. His breath tickles Steve’s skin as he leans closer. “You’ll have to excuse me, but I don’t like sharing my treasures.”
He was right about the wine, Steve thinks as a nimble tongue nudges his lips apart and slips past his teeth. It’s excellent. Rich and heady in a way that goes straight to your veins, filling them with liquid fire. He closes his eyes and lets Munson take control of the kiss. There’s nothing else he can do, after all. He’s completely and utterly at the man’s mercy. The thought makes something hot and urgent stir at the base of his spine. Someone moans, a low and needy sound in the silence of the cabin, and Steve realizes with a surge of burning humiliation that it was him. Munson pulls back, lips shiny with spit and twisted into a delighted grin. The hand on Steve’s thigh wanders inwards, and he bucks in his chair.
“What did they teach you?”
Steve blinks. “What?”
Munson chuckles as he hauls them both out of their chairs. It’s only a few steps to the bed, but still, somehow, Steve’s shirt is halfway unbuttoned by the time they tumble into the sheets. Munson scrapes his teeth over his bare neck and chest, and the fire in Steve’s insides stirs.
“About pirates, sweetheart. What did they teach you about pirates?”
Steve thinks of an entirely different fire, of his father’s words ringing in his ears as he forced him to watch it burn.
“That you’re the-” he starts to say, but needs to interrupt himself for another moan as Munson proceeds to open the remaining shirt buttons with his teeth. “-the scum of the seas. Rapists and murderers and monsters with n- … no regard for the law, driven only by your own greed and sinful desires.”
Munson chuckles, looking up at him through long, dark lashes as he starts to mouth at the bulge in Steve’s pants. “And yet, you want to be one?”
Steve shrugs.
“I dunno,” he says around another moan. “Following your sinful desires? Sounds like a much more enjoyable life than the one I come from.”
Munson smiles, wicked and dimpled and intoxicating. “You might be onto something, young sir. Let’s put your theory to the test?”

hi would you say the barrier of entry for sailing is very high?
my family had a house near the beach so i spent every summer in the sea so i absolutely ADORE IT and wanted to learn how to sail recreationally but it's always seemed so expensive + hard to get into
advice or opinions are greatly appreciated if you have any to offer<3
btw i love ur blog ty :)
i would absolutely encourage you to try sailing out and i think it's a great sport to get into! i have introduced dozens of people to sailing so far and almost all of them hit the ground running. the learning curve is steep and even just joining for the first times without touching anything is exhilarating so no moment learning is wasted. strong motion sickness or a paralyzing fear of the ocean notwithstanding, i truly think everyone can learn the ropes (haha) and that quickly! we always joke that it is very easy to get a boat sailing and very hard to get it sailing fast, but you have the rest of the life to figure out the latter and even if you don't you will have a grand time on the water.
you did not specify if you want to get on a sailing yacht (that you can sleep and do long tours on) or a smaller dhingy so i will answer both and i hope it is helpful!
SAILING YACHTS:
when it comes to sailing yacht, the real challenge is not sailing but owning a boat, and that is where the financial barriers come in. i will not lie to you - owning a boat is really expensive, and i am talking 5 to 6 figures a year expensive for a middle-sized sailing yacht including mooring, fixes, equipment, utilities, tools, and everything else. you can absolutely find cheap boats sold at every coast line - but buying a boat is not expensive, having a boat is. (guy who just bought a rope for 600 human dollars voice) heed my warning.
THE GOOD NEWS: you absolutely do NOT need a boat to learn sailing on a yacht. everywhere there is a marina there is people looking for crew, and many sailing clubs have programmes for beginners to get you on a yacht and try it out! there are also many summer programmes to join on larger tours and learn sailing. i would encourage you to bring a friend or two because it's much easier to flounder around on a new ship in groups, but it is absolutely worth trying out and again - even being on a boat is exiting, and you learn by doing!
now. sailing is not a dangerous sport and this is my heightened sense for safety of a sailing instructor speaking. but! if you join on a boat even as a visitor please think of that sailing tumblr blog in your life and tell the captain that before you go out of the water you would like to know: 1) the number for local search and rescue, and 2) the position of the fire extinguisher, the lifeboat/life ring, and the emergency shut-off and 3) that you want to wear a life vest unrelated to weather conditions. if they make jokes about you being a worry-wart, take them in stride, but if they refuse to do any of this, you tell them that they are irresponsible and leave. things rarely go wrong but they can and i want you to know what to do. okay? sailing is not scary but being unprepared is. okay PSA over.
DHINGY SAILING:
dhingy sailing is the most fun, the closest to the water, and the fastest way to learning sailing because you are together with one other person max facing the winds. yes you will most certainly get wet, but it is very safe, close to shore, incredibly fun and exhilarating, teaching you self-reliance, reflexes, trains your sense of balance and gives you abs. it's the perfect sport. can you tell i teach dhingy sailing
if you want to learn dhingy sailing, again, do NOT immediately buy a dhingy. while they are far less expensive they are still a hassle and setting up the mast without knowing your way around a boat will discourage you from sailing forever. instead, again, join a sailing club or a short course to learn dhingy sailing!
many places can give you intensive courses and certificates that qualify you to lend out dhingys afterwards our you join a sailing club with their own dhingys (which there are a lot of everywhere!). most offer weekly or even daily sailing lessons and group sailing and faster than you know you will flying over the water. the financial barrier here could be the course cost as they vary widely (my students pay 50 euros a year but some places will cost you that or more an hour it's hard to gauge). apart from that, you will have to invest in a neoprene suit and a sailing west, but that's the extent of it.
all in all, give sailing a try! it is the most rewarding hobby i can think of and my heart aches for everyone who lives at the coast and doesn't best the waves one way or another. and again, i cannot stress it enough: being on the water is half the fun. everything else will happen in due time. the ocean waits for you! happy sailing!
#sailing#hope this was helpful!!! HAVE FUN!!#and if you have any other questions do let me know i am happy to answer them no problem#if i could take all my followers sailing on my boat i would. i truly would i love new crews#i hope the PSA did not sound scary i just get so mad at irresponsible captains being like 'oh if something goes wrong i will just fix it'#search and rescue would like to know your location#anyway.

"I think where we went wrong is that we should not have gotten on a boat with a hole in it," I calmly inform the other passengers.
"It's a ship, dickhead," chirps a guy wearing a sailor hat in an audacious display of stolen valour.
By any conceivable measurement, our cruise has not gone very well. First, they ran out of those little potato puffs in the buffet, and now we're going to agonizingly die on the bottom of the sea.
"Don't worry. I know what to do," says a helpful-type in the back. I suspect that he owns a pickup truck with bald tires in what the others call a "land life." It turns out that he knows what to do from half-watching a TV movie airing of Titanic, where they do not actually teach you how to operate a lifeboat. Shortly thereafter, we stand in front of the lifeboat-lowering button, having just discovered that we should have gotten into the lifeboats before pushing the button that lowers them into the ocean. Then we watch our lifeboats float away, just in time to escape the howling void that is our sinking ocean liner.
It's times like this that two kinds of people emerge. Many of you may be wondering where the crew and other miscellaneous staff of the doomed ship have gone, and why they aren't helping us. The other half or so is wondering if the hole can be patched. I like the latter folks, because the former people are going to spend a lot of time looking for the crew, then crying when they realize they have been abandoned.
Through an act of absolute heroism, and not at all a convenient accident, it turns out that the hole in the hull of the ship is exactly the same size as the little golf cart that the captain once used on shore leave. Plugging the hole with an improvised Mitsubishi-powered cork does not help me escape trial, however, because it turns out that international marine law does not legalize "doing a sick wheelie on the shuffleboard deck," which is considered mutiny because of an obscure French tradition. The important thing to know is that you should never board a boat with a hole in the bottom of it.

The past few days I've been thinking a lot about the General Slocum disaster.
It's a mostly forgotten story now, but the General Slocum was a passenger steamboat that was used for excursion trips around New York during the turn of the 20th century. In 1904 it caught on fire and sank in the East River, and over a thousand people died (there were less than 1400 aboard to begin with). Most of them were women and children. They were on a church-sponsored picnic outing.
From top to bottom, the story of the General Slocum is about corporate greed, and corruption, and incompetence:
The fire was probably started by a match or cigarette (!) in the Lamp Room, which was full of straw, oily rags, and lamp oil (!).
A child told the captain that the ship was on fire, but the captain ignored him. The crew didn't properly inform the captain of the fire until ten minutes later.
The captain inexplicably made for North Brother Island, even though other islands were closer. Steering directly into headwinds spread the fire faster.
The crew hadn't practiced a fire drill in the past year.
None of the safety equipment on the ship worked, because the steamboat company found it cheaper to pay off safety inspectors than to keep their ships up to code.
There was a hose on board, but it was so old and rotten that it burst when the crew tried to hook it up. The crew then gave up trying to put out the fire or help anyone and abandoned ship.
The lifeboats were wired to the deck, and the wires had then been painted over, rather than removing the lifeboats each time the ship got a fresh coat of paint, so it they were impossible to lower.
The life preservers were filled with cork. They were supposed to weigh a certain amount, so the manufacturer had put lead bars in some of them to make weight.
Others were so old that the cork inside had disintegrated into powder. Solid cork floats. Powdered cork sinks.
That meant that some of the mothers who survived described putting life preservers on their babies and throwing them into the river to escape the flames, and watching them sink.
Very few people could swim at the time, and everyone was wearing the heavy wool clothing of the period. Hundreds of people drowned.
The disaster decimated the immigrant community of Little Germany on the Lower East Side, where most of the deceased were from. Fathers who hadn't been able to attend the picnic because they were working got home to find their wives and children were all dead. Dozens of bodies were either never found, or found but never identified.
Though multiple safety inspectors and employees of the steamboat company were indicted, only the captain - who very much became the scapegoat for the whole thing - was convicted. The steamboat company paid a nominal fine. The one silver lining was that state and federal safety regulations were strengthened in the aftermath.
Like I said at the beginning, this story is mostly forgotten. A lot of historians credit that to the Titanic upstaging it just a few years later. Adella Wotherspoon, who survived the General Slocum as a baby and lived until 2004 (!), said she knew why: "The Slocum people were very poor or middle class. They were often German immigrants. The Titanic and other ships had celebrities."
I don't really have a moral to this story, except that safety regulations matter, ships full of immigrants are just as important as ships full of rich people, and humans have pretty much always been the same, as far as I can tell.
(If you want to know more, I highly recommend Ship Ablaze: The Tragedy of the Steamboat General Slocum by Edward T. O'Donnell, the excellent Wikipedia page, and the Bowery Boys podcast episode on the disaster.)

𝑼𝑵𝑬𝑿𝑷𝑬𝑪𝑻𝑬𝑫...𝑭𝑹𝑰𝑬𝑵𝑫𝑺𝑯𝑰𝑷? 911x fem reader!
𝑭𝑰𝑹𝑺𝑻 𝑪𝑯𝑨𝑷𝑻𝑯𝑬𝑹 𝑷𝑹𝑬𝑽𝑰𝑬𝑾
Autor's note: Hi!. I leave you a small preview of what will be the first chapter of this fanfic based on my favorite series, 9-1-1.
Hope you like it!
The firefighters at Station 118 were ready for whatever came their way; they had been trained for all kinds of natural disasters, from unbearable heat waves, earthquakes and leaning buildings to a tsunami.
One second they were helping to lower all the people who were trapped on the Ferris wheel, and the next second they were sure they were safe in the lifeboats.
Until the second wave hit them.
They could say they had seen it coming, yes, they managed to get away from the Ferris wheel before it fell, with the help of Lena bosko, a firefighter from station 136.
But their small victory did not take away the fact that the second wave had taken them by surprise, causing some of them to be pushed out of their boats by the great impact.
In a lifeboat and helping some people trapped in the water back up, Captain Bobby Nash of Station 118 was standing on top of the rescue boat calling out worriedly and loudly to two of his team members.
━━━━Eddie, Bree!━━━━━ He shouted shaking his head searching for them with his eyes━━━━━Eddie, Bree!
━━━━Here, cap!━━━━━Hearing eddie's shout, bobby turned his head to the left and could see him. Eddie diaz was with lena bosko, and others inside the boat.
Finding him the captain wanted to feel relieved, he really wanted to feel relieved but he couldn't.
Not when someone else was missing.
━━━━Where is Bree?━━━━ he exclaimed when he did not see her next to them, moving his body in all possible directions looking for the young maximoff, hoping to see her swim towards them or scream for help.
━━━Bree?━━━The ex-soldier's voice trembled when he realized the absence of his partner, he stood up from his place and looked around desperately looking for any sign of his partner.
The firefighter from station 136 follow his examble by looking around.
━━━Bree!━━━ shouted Eddie in despair, feeling his heart pound as he got no sign of her.
Without thinking twice he jumped into the water to see if he could find it from there, but when he saw nothing he returned to the surface.
━━━I can't, I can't find her!━━━He screamed, hitting the water with both hands in frustration.
━━━Where are you Maximoff?!━━━Bosko shouted.
━━━BREANNE!━━━The captain's voice breaking echoed around them.
Floating in the water, firefighter Diaz could see fear invade his captain's face and he also felt the same fear invade him as well.Breanne had disappeared, a few seconds ago Breanne was next to them, she was with him helping the others, and now she had disappeared.
Feeling his hands shake with anxiety, Bobby brought his radio close to his face while still looking around.
━━━This is Captain Nash from Station 118. Firefighter Breanne Maximoff is missing, I repeat, Firefighter Breanne Maximoff is missing....━━━The captain's trembling voice sounded through the radio, alerting the rest of his colleagues and the 911 operators.
On the other side of the dock, Hen Wilson and Chimney Han looked at each other when they heard the news, surprised and scared by the disappearance of their partner.
━━━Bree is missing?━━━Hen asked when she hear the captain
━━━No, no. It can't be true, hen.━━━He muttered to his friend.
In the 911 dispatch, Maddie gasps in surprise upon hearing the news, drawing the attention of her partner Josh and her boss, Sue.
━━━Maddie? What's wrong?━━━He asked when he saw her eyes fill with tears. The buckley girl looked at him and with a trembling voice said:
━━━One of the firefighters from station 118 is missing━━━She responded, Josh and Sue's looks were filled with concern.
━━━Which one of them?━━━Sue asked her.
Maddie swallowed and looked at them both before speaking.
━━━It's Bree━━━She said with a trembling voice━━━Breanne Maximoff is missing.

Galeophobia (Kirishima)
Please don’t request any phobias. I just felt like making this for fun.
Be kind to me, I'm still not good at writing NSFW
Title: Galeophobia
Pairings: Kirishima Eijirou x Reader
WARNINGS: Yandere themes, mershark Kirishima, pirate reader, marking, NSFW, NON-CON, belly bulge, excessive cum
Phobia: The fear of sharks
Normally, the setting sun is something that makes you smile, its beautiful pink-and-orange hues are a feast for the eyes. Here and now? It feels as though it is taunting you as your water sloshes over the deck of your sinking ship.
How can nature be so beautiful, yet so cruel?
The storm is completely gone- there’s no sign that it ever happened. No sign, save for one wooden ship taking on water. The jolly rogers above you wave feebly in the light wind before crumbling in on themselves as even the air falls silent. You sigh wearily.
After all the danger you’d put yourself in to get rich, sinking serenely in the middle of calm waters, all of your comrades having fled on lifeboats. Leaving the captain to go down with the ship.
It’s a dumb tradition that the pirates of your country take part in, you thought dully, so why did I bother following it? You wished you weren’t quite so honorable.
The water ripples below your lazy perch on the ship’s front railings, now reaching past the deck and slowly inching towards you. Somewhere off in the distance, you see something shimmer in the sunset’s pink-tinged water.
You squint, confused, as something bright red begins rising in the clear water right below you, on the end of your ship and the open ocean. Water breaks at the surface as the crimson object reveals itself to be spiky hair on the head of a handsome tan-skinned man with equally-red, intense eyes.
At first, you think he must be dead. After all, how else could there be someone out here in the middle of the ocean, unless they were from a ship already sunken below? But no, the man gazes at you with a lively expression, smiling brightly at you as though he’s never been so happy to see someone else.
The next conclusion fills you with hope: there must be land nearby! Surely he had swum from an island to your ship. But how far away was it? You look in every direction and see nothing but water.
“Where do you come from?” You ask urgently, “It’s not too far is it? I’m not a strong swimmer.”
The man laughs loudly, “Don’t worry, I got you, babe.”
You wrinkle your nose at the pet name but hold your tongue. After all, this redhead was the only thing between you and the bottom of the ocean.
He holds out his arms as though he’s ready to catch you, “Come on down, babe. I don’t bite. Much.”
He flashes you a smile and you gasp. His teeth are unnaturally sharp and triangular, nothing like a human’s. For the first time, you feel a sense of foreboding and your heart pounds in your chest.
Your gaze falls below his bare abs under the water and you’re shocked to see that instead of bare legs, there’s gray and white smooth skin that ends in a sharp fish tail. From the shape and the earlier glance at his teeth, you surmise he’s some sort of shark merman. Not human, in any case.
“What are you?” You shriek, wrapping your arms around your legs protectively, all too aware of how close the water was to you now.
The shark-man grins, flashing those sharp teeth at you once more, “My name’s Kirishima. What’s yours, babe?”
“Stay away from me, you fish freak!” You seethe, pulling your compass from your pocket and heaving it at him as hard as you can. It bounces off his chest with a thunk but he doesn’t so much as flinch. “Wait until after I’ve drowned to eat me!”
Kirishima sighs, a soft pout to his features as he tells you, “List babe: you’re either coming down on your own or you’re going to sink.”
The reality of the situation dawns on you just as you feel water licking at your toes. You were going to be eaten by this half-shark, half-man creature. All that would be left of you would be your bones on the bottom of the ocean, alongside your trusty ship.
Hot tears prick your eyes as you let yourself slide off the railing into the water. If my death is coming, then let it be quick, you thought sadly.
Kirishima blinks in surprise before a smile spreads across his face. This time, his lips are pulled over those vicious teeth, and you can’t help but think it’s a little cute. He reaches his hand out to brush away a few stray tears, but that just causes more to spill.
Strong arms wrap around you and you close your eyes, ready for death. It doesn’t come. Instead, Kirishima nuzzles into your neck, cooing softly into your ear as he holds you close.
He pulls you away from the sinking ship, most of which is already underwater. Your first and only ship- you feel more tears slip down your cheeks. It’s gone now, there’s no getting it back.
“Shh, it’s alright, babe.” Kirishima shushes you softly as he swims farther away, tugging you along through the water. You shiver in his grasp and he takes notice, stopping immediately to run his hands over your body, “Oh man, you’re cold all over.”
The grin that cracks across his face is mischievous and predatory at the same time, “I know how to fix that.”
Something cold and hard brushes against your butt and your heart stops all together before it starts up tenfold again. Don’t tell me he means…
Incredibly sharp teeth pierce through the skin on your neck and you let out a scream. Warm blood pools on the surface as he sucks gently before releasing with a pop. He takes a look at his handiwork- at the wound swelling on your neck- and has the audacity to look proud.
Kirishima presses against you as he begins peeling your clothes from your skin. Something very large and very hard pokes against your thighs and, although you cannot see it, you already have an idea of what it is. Curiosity has you briefly wondering if it looks like a human’s or not.
You don’t have a chance to look down at it from the angle he’s holding you but, once he tears your pants from your body in a violent, eager motion, you quickly get to know what it feels like. It seems to be shaped the same as any human male’s dick, but it’s much larger than what you thought was possible.
The bulbous head pushes against your unguarded pussy, pressing and pressing until pop- it forces its way inside. You expected unimaginable pain, but you’re instead overrun with pleasure.
The cock fills you out with each inch shoved deeper. It stretched your insides out and, when you look down, you see a visible bulge in your stomach. He’s crammed into you so much your little human body can barely take it.
Kirishima holds you still while he forces his shark cock deeper and deeper. The bulge in your belly is bigger than ever when he comes to a stop. Unconsciously, your hand moves and puts a hand over the bump in your stomach and you hear the man behind you moan with pleasure as you accidentally massage his cockhead.
The thrusts begin, more brutal than you could ever anticipate. Kirishima uses his arms to keep you in place while he fucks into you, tearing apart your vagina and womb easily with his monster cock.
You writhe with pleasure, barely able to move from your positioning but trying all the same. It’s all too much- his dick is pressed up against every nerve and pleasure spot you have, each thrust hits all the right places.
Kirishima grabs your hips and bend your body a little, moving you into a position where he can fuck you even deeper and harder. It isn’t long before you come undone on his cock, twitching and spasming from the intense pleasure he’s giving you.
Your pulsating walls prove to be too much for the redhead, and he follows you shortly after. His cum floods your insides, inflating your belly a little around the bulge and filling you so completely that some escapes around his cock and into the water around you, making the water turn more milky than clear.
Your eyes roll back in your head as he rolls his hips, getting out those last few drops of cum. His giant cock finally softens and slips out, dirtying the water even more with the cum that escapes your stuffed-full womb.
“Yeah, I’m keeping you.” Kirishima says, grinning widely as he pulls you close. You don’t bother fighting it as he gives a kick of his tail and takes off swimming with you snug in his arms.
You can feel cum still rushing out of you as he whisks you away to wherever it is he plans to keep you.
