"aw i love your earrings, they're so cute!" i say, making the barista's day. i sit down with my coffee and send a respected mutual an anon ask reading "you look like you've got that homestuck kinnie pussy." thus i have maintained the balance of suffering in the world for another day. as i wander down the beach of life, my footsteps do not even disturb its grains

Guys, it got so much freaking worse. KOSA is bad, but SCREEN is even worse, somehow.
"Sen. Mike Lee has introduced the SCREEN ACT, a bill that applies the "harmful to minors" standard used to ban LGBTQ+ books and resources in schools and libraries and apply it nationally to the internet.
Any site that has any amount of material "harmful to minors" would be forced to employ surveillance tech (biometric scans, ID uploads, background checks) to prevent minors from accessing "pornography."
You will not be surprised to learn that this is backed by the Heritage Foundation.
Unlike some of the state age-verification laws, many of which are being challenged in court, SC will be enforced by the FTC, which has the ability to levy fines, raid business and freeze bank accounts. Yes, meaning that even non-for-profits like Ao3 will suffer.
This is something for all US users to keep on their radar. Call your reps, call your senators, and spread the word to protect our archive!"
- When talking with Republicans play up the fact that this would force Elon to implement age verification systems on X (yes do call it X during the call). Elon's been threatening to primary Republicans who stand in his way so there's fear of him. Also play up concerns about "Liberals" doxxing people or Chinese hackers.
- When talking with Democrats, play up the connections to Project 2025 and suggest voters will not be happy to see Democrats siding with it.

See I don't think a "normal" college kid would be soft or sweet. I think the normal college experience, especially for someone with over-protective parents, is to go a little wild. Asriel comes back and he's talking about movies that make his parents uncomfortable, and he got his eyebrow pierced, and he failed a class for the first time ever because Toriel isn't there to make him do his homework. He doesn't want to visit his old high school friends anymore, and everyone's asking "where did our sweet Azzy go??" But the thing is, he's happy. He's a normal young adult leaving his childhood behind.
It becomes increasingly clear over the visit that he's not moving back to Hometown after college, and maybe he dreams of moving even further away. And it's not because he hates his parents, it's because growing up and moving out of the tiny place you grew up is just what kids do. That's the kind of freedom I'd want for Asriel. He doesn't exist for his parents, and he doesn't exist for the plot of Deltarune. He just gets a life to live however he wants.
finally put to words why i don't want asriel to just be a normal college boy:
after years of people not accepting flowey for who he is in undertale and wanting to "save" him even though he's already saved, followed by a new character who everyone immediately just saw as "the soft sweet normal asriel we always wanted", it feels like it would be wrong to just go "okay here you go here's the soft sweet normal asriel you've always wanted! ^_^"

I think it's a shame that "Oedipus complex" refers to fucking your mom instead of the actual point of his story, fulfilling your destiny through your attempts to avoid it. It just so happens his destiny was to fuck his mom

If this fermentation happened in a room that was five degrees hotter, this jar would turn into a flesh-eating virus. But because it happened in the exact right conditions, it turns into yummy treat :)
so many of the best foods in the world are created by leaving some shit in a jar and letting mysterious and terrible things happen to it

The person training you will say something like "now for this job, you guys will be required to read sometimes. I never learned how to read. I got this job in 1987, and they hired a guy to read for me." The trainer currently makes over a million dollars a year.
They will leave for a three hour lunch break while you watch a video on how employees going to the bathroom during work hours is literally theft.
to get a job you have to have 10 years of experience in every possible tool and task that could even tangentially be related to what you'll actually be doing and then you have to prove that you're the smartest person in the world and you're organised and proactive and have great problem solving skills. and then if you beg on your knees like a dog enough and actually get the job, the entire first week will be doing spent reading shit like: 'MANDATORY HEALTH AND SAFETY TRAINING: if the floor is SLIPPERY or BUMPY, you might TRIP. this is BAD. please take this test to check your knowledge. question 1: is tripping bad? yes/no'

Absolutely wild that Fujimoto said “In a world where the very concept of nuclear weapons has been erased from existence, America is so hellbent on warmongering that they will literally reinvent nuclear weapons from scratch just to kill more people, and then the American people will cheer for their use even as the bodies burn, causing the manifestation of War itself to fall in love with America” in his Shonen manga about a teen who transforms into a chainsaw-headed man in 2025
