Sometimes I hear people say that Rex's hair is dyed and bleached but that doesn't really make sense. Rex mostly doesn't have hair, it's practically completely shaved down save some incredibly short, blond fuzz. If he bleached his hair, his skin would probably peel and roots would definitely be showing. I think the intention is clear that it's just his hair at this point.
Sometimes in the cloning process there are just mutations and deviations, like minute recessive gene activations that result in phenotypical changes like hair colour. Rex is just one of those clones.
We see another blond clone in TCW called Hotshot, a cadet who's hair is similarly shaved (emulating his kindred-haired hero?). Very much doubt he was given hair dye by the Kaminoans. Individuality comes after you leave Kamino.
And, from what we know of hair dye in the retrofuturistic universe that is Star Wars, it is also liquid form, so I honestly don't see hair dying as likely on hair as shorn off as that. Long story short, Rex is a natural blond king and he has more fun.

Dropping new theory for Rex's hair: As a child, Rex was born blond, but was given gene therapy by the Kaminoans to change it to the typical color. As an adult he now bleaches it back as a "screw you" to the Kaminoans
#this could even be canon compliant#is Rex's blondness dyed or natural: yes#sprinkle of angst#also with some later clones being blond and less standard because of the Jedi's influence on Kamino#g gives a thought#captain rex

So I've seen the natural blond/bottle blond debate abt Captain Rex coming up again and I figured I'd give you my thoughts. First off, I am firmly team natural blond and here's why:
Rex honestly doesn't strike me as the type of dude who would spent that much time on his hair every week or so. Just seems like a Shave It Down Just Enough So It's Still Technically Hair kinda dude. No I will not elaborate on this, either you feel me or you don't
I think it makes for a richer character, tbh. The blond hair means that he is "genetically defective". Not only could that mean there are more, less detectable genetic differences (like more defiance, aggression, and creativity. all of which more than necessary to be Skywalker's Second), but it would also mean that growing up on Kamino, he likely had a harder time. He would've had to prove his worth to the Kaminoans more than others because they are perfectionists. Blond clone? Not that bad, but not quite what we want. Blond clone who can't pass the test first try? Unacceptable, that's already two black marks. Get rid of him.
I LIVE for the "Others called him King to bully him, because his blond hair looks like a crown, but he made it his own and owns it like THE KING HE IS AND ALL THE SHINIES ADORE HIM NOW"-headcanon
I also LIVE for the "The Kaminoans ran out of Jango DNA so they took DNA from the highest performing clones, including Rex so every little blond clone we see is kinda Rex's son in a way"-headcanon
I also go absolutely FERAL at the "Rex is a natural blond and therefore has to dye his eyebrows dark"-headcanon. That's the good sht, let's be real
I know my first statement made a different point, but I am genuinely intrigued abt if there is more to the shaven hair than we think. Every blond clone we've seen (save for Crys, though we all know he's the bottle blond of the army (deregatory)) has shaven down hair. Maybe the Kaminoans gave them different regs? Because in the Cadet Episode every single cadet (save for Boba but yanno) had the regulation haircut. There was one clone (REX'S SON) who had blond hair, but it was completely shaved, just like Rex's. Makes me wonder if the Kaminoans forced them too. Definitely would also make sense for Rex. He kept the regulation haircut, because his hair isn't as important to him as being a good CO.
And those are all my thoughts (for now). Feel free to add!
#NATRUAL BLOND REX FOR THE WIN#this is the hill I die on#he will always be a natural blond idk if canon disagrees I don't I just don't#captain rex#star wars#the clone wars#clone wars#clones#swtcw#anyway#star wars the clone wars#rex

cursed idea:
Rex's hair is half regular clone hair color, half blond
there are running bets about which half is dyed
people are constantly trying to find out, some just watch out for roots, some sneak into his barracks to see what kind of dye he has
no one ever finds out which it is
rex is very smug about it
(he swore everyone who knew him back on kamino to secrecy, none of them mind, they have just as much fun with it as Rex)
#star wars the clone wars#clone wars#the clone wars#rex clone wars#captain rex#command batch#theyre laughing their asses off#the best part is this works with both options#dye rex and natural blond rex

You’re telling me Rex bleaches his hair regularly? With what time? I’m to believe he’s bleaching it between co-parenting Ahsoka and Torrent, doing the work of a commander without a title, covering up (poorly) for his General’s secret relationship, and helping lead a war?? That is his sleep time. He is a natural blond. I will die on this hill
#crys is a different story#i believe crys tried to be a bottle blond#and then succumbed to the inevitable and committed to the yellow#just went in with yellow hair dye and said it was 212th colors#and they all pretended it was on purpose#crys has the coiffed hair#he is a hair try hard#rex is a natural blond#star wars#star wars clone wars#clones#captain rex#tcw rex#ct 7567

For a long silent minute, Fox just looks at him.
“Usually, I tell GAR transfers to follow contested territory protocols and put them on street patrols, and that’s enough to keep them alive as they learn our rules. But you’re a mutie and a Captain. So I think you’ll understand when I say we are closer to Kamino SOP.
“Don’t stand out, don’t draw attention. Ensure that everything you do is perfect and without fault. Know that sometimes that’s still not enough, and all you can do is endure until they lose interest.

Natural blond Rex this Bottle Blond Rex that, we all know the real reason we don't have proof of if Rex bleaches his hair or not is because details like that don't exist in post-production of an animated show that has character sheets that say stuff like REX HAS PALE BLOND HAIR TO STAND OUT FROM THE OTHER CLONE CHARACTERS.
If Star Wars the Clone Wars was an Anime, Captain Rex would have bright blue spiky hair that's always drifting in the wind to show how super special and important he is to the plot lmao.
But no that's literally it. When they decided Alpha-17 wasn't gonna be in the show, they had to figure out how to make their new main clone character look distinctly recognizable compared to a vast sea of other clones in blue armour. It really doesn't matter if Rex is a natural or bottle blond, that design choice was made just to make him stand out immediately to anyone watching the show as "Oh that's the one who's in charge! The one with short blond hair!".
It's just a matter of personal preference if you favour natural blond Rex (and I have seen plenty of people write this perfectly well, don't get me wrong, I like the narrative of Kamino being a hellhole pre-Jedi intervention and what clones with visual mutations had to do to survive, either on their own or with help from fellow clones who were more loyal to their brothers than willing to throw them to the wolves) or bottle blond Rex (and I absolutely love the idea that the first thing he did when he realized he could proudly display his identity as more than a number, was to immediately buzz his hair and bleach it down to a pale blond because he IS Rex, not CT-7567, he is Rex and he fought to deserve this name and what is a king without his crown? He's not on Kamino anymore and both he and his Jedi will fight to ensure both he and his brothers aren't numbers anymore).
Not sure why some people make such a fuss over natural blond Rex being the "superior headcanon" and insisting with their whole being that the bottle blond headcanon is so against everything they believe in in regards to Rex's characterization.
Kind of a concerning underlying theme in that thought process actually, and I'd recommend looking closer at what they're insinuating...
#star wars#the clone wars#captain rex#what I'm trying to say is: to each their own#you like natural blond rex? great!#you like bottle blond rex? great!#just don't fight over it so much or else I am gonna start thinking you hate dark curly hair for some 'strange' reason if you catch my drift

rex as a bleached blonde is so endearing to me. you mean this straight laced captain spends a dedicated amount of time every fortnight or so bleaching his roots to this specific shade of blonde? do you think supply shipment was delayed once and his roots started growing him and he was severely pissed about it? do you think he continued after the fall of the republic? him and ahsoka on the run, taking the time to find a pack of bleach and a dodgy lit bathroom so he can at least feel like the world isn’t falling so spectacularly apart? and when did it start, when did he decide that was how he wanted to be different, to mark his individuality? i’m so endeared
#captain rex#star wars#the clone wars#star wars the clone wars#rex is a bleach blonde i’ll die on this hill. don’t be weird about it#also come on. he’s a jango clone. no he’s not naturally blonde that’s not how science works also. don’t be racist come on

make it feel better
Rex x F!Reader
word count: 4.3k
description: when scouting a new planet, you fall into a bed of flowers that you understand the effects of all too well. Captain rex is the only person around and the only one who can help you.
warnings: NSFW (18+) minors begone! sex pollen/aphrodisiacs, oral (f! recieving), pinv sex, almost voyeurism not really, some reader masturbation, swearing, little bit of praise, non-established relationship
a/n: okay so this is the first ever proper smut I've posted and I'm SCARED. do not judge me pls and thank you <3 I haven't seen any sex pollen with Rex so I thought I'd try my hand at it
The sun was only just clinging to the horizon as you made your way back to the ship, taking a shortcut through the forest. You and Rex had been scouting for a new, and safe, planet to move to, where the small rebellion you were a part of could operate without detection. This one had been uninhabited, and so far proved to be a solid contender. You had come along because of your in depth knowledge of various flora and fauna across the galaxy, and Rex deemed you the most qualified to ascertain whether or not the planet would be suitable. He also enjoyed your company but he wasn’t going to tell you that.
You and Rex had known each other for many years, as you were somewhat of a consultant to the jedi in the war. Your knowledge of different cultures and languages throughout the galaxy proved most useful, and you often became an intermediary between the Republic forces and the primitive beings you encountered. A lot of your time was spent in the field, which was where you met Rex.
The 501st had been part of a relief mission to Abednedo, where you were required for translation purposes. The Abednedo mostly spoke basic, but it was their written language that proved difficult for the Republic to understand, and with you understanding the Republic’s supply logging system, they opted to have you catalogue the supplies rather than teach the Abednedo to use it.
Rex had been uneasy around you initially, with you being someone from outside of the GAR, but he quickly warmed to you when he saw how well you integrated with the rest of his brothers. That was part of the reason that you joined his band of rebels in the first place - you definitely had a soft spot in your heart for the clones, and even more so for Rex.
Your feelings for Rex had grown steadily. Naturally, you found him to be handsome when you first met, his closely cropped blond hair making him stand out among his brothers, but your attraction for him really set in when seeing him on the battlefield, taking down almost a whole wave of droids with only two DC-17s and his own sheer will.
Though that was years ago. Now, you found yourself harbouring deeper feelings for him, feelings you had been reluctant to admit to yourself.
When Rex had found you after the end of the war, sending you a message on your encrypted comm channel, you felt like you had finally hit a stroke of luck. The transition from the Republic to the Empire was turbulent for you, to say the least. The Empire had uses for your intellect, but you had quickly become disillusioned with the whole regime when you realised the deception that they covered up in every corner of their reach. Rex had all but saved you from the Empire, and for that, you’d always be grateful to him.
Meeting him again after the end of the war, when you hadn’t seem him in some time, was like a breath of fresh air. You had never been exceptionally close with him, no closer than you were with any of the other clones at least, but upon seeing his tired and haggard figure on the other side of the hangar, you couldn’t help but speed over to him and embrace him in a tight hug. He had chuckled and returned the embrace, commenting something about ‘understanding the feeling’.
Since then, the dormant feelings you had previously harboured for him only grew. You worked closely with him, spending most of your days by his side in the command centre, helping however you could. It was an inescapable fate that you would fall for him, and now here you were, living out that very fated feeling. You had no indication from the Captain as to whether he felt the same way, and so you kept it close to your chest, electing to not tell him.
Rex had gone back to the ship to comm the others, to say that this planet you were on could be the one, while you had stayed out to investigate a few final things. The water from the natural springs was drinkable, and the small bug you had captured carried no known diseases, and so you were satisfied that this planet would do nicely. You commed Rex and let him know what you were coming back, not waiting for an answer before you switched it off. It didn't really matter whether he heard you or not, you'd be back soon.
It was dark in the forest as you cut through, but it was just bright enough to see where you were going. Mostly.
You found yourself disproved when your foot caught on a tree root and you were sent tumbling forwards with a small yelp. Thankfully, there was a thick bed of flowers that cushioned your fall, so the pain from the impact dissipated quickly. You stood and brushed yourself off, but immediately felt your nose itching, and before you knew it, you were sent into a sneezing fit. You had sneezed at least ten times before you lost count, and you stumbled forwards, resting yourself against a tree when you came to a clearing.
The orange tone of the sky cast a gentle golden light over you as you caught your breath. The sneezing subsided, but as you breathed deeply, you realised that something felt wrong.
You felt your insides burn hot, the heat spreading through your body like a wildfire. An uncomfortable feeling settled in your stomach, but it quickly twisted into a heavy pain. You doubled over, holding your stomach as it cramped up and sent shockwaves through your system.
You dug your hand into one of the pouches on your belt urgently, pulling out the small torch you carried with you. You switched it on and shined it over the bed of flowers that you had just landed in, and inspected their yellow petals and purple centre, your eyes going wide.
Fuck.
You knew exactly what flower these were, you had studied them and their effects in your time at University on Coruscant. You knew exactly what was going to happen to you, and you almost wish you didn't.
Aphrodisiacs.
You dug your heels into the ground in frustration as you threw your head back into the tree, your eyes screwed shut. The burning in your stomach was quickly transforming from a small flame to a full blown bonfire.
Somehow this was typical. This planet was so close to being perfect, and now you had to go and trip into some flowers that would cause you a pain so sensual you'd be driven out of your mind. It had to be you, didn't it?
As you were writhing against the tree, contemplating if you could really get yourself off right here, you heard your name being called and groaned quietly. Why did he have to come looking for you right now?
You tried your best to stay quiet, listening to him calling out to you and hoping that he wouldn't find you, but then he came through the treeline, his eyes finding your struggling form.
“What's wrong?” He darted over to you, at your side in an instant, and you instinctively flinched away from him. His gaze was filled with worry.
You we're clearly in some kind of pain, your skin damp with sweat and a deep blush across your cheeks.
He reached out for you as he called your name, and you moved away again, having to look away from the man that you desired fiercely at any other given moment, but especially this one.
“Rex” You breathed out, trying to keep your voice steady, “Please don't touch me”
“Why?” He asked quickly, “Is it your skin?”
“It's… everywhere, it's not going to go away, It hurts, it hurts so much” You spoke, though you weren't sure your words were even coherent.
“What hurts?” He asked more urgently, trying to get a read on the problem the best he could without touching you.
I can't tell him. I just need to get him away.
“You need to leave. Go back to the ship and wait for me” You pant.
“What? No, let me help you” He knelt down beside you, his hand itching to reach out and comfort you, “What can I do?”
“Nothing. Please go away” You begged, but he didn't understand what was going on at all. For all he knew, you could be asking him to leave you to die here.
“Please let me help you”
You let a small moan escape your lips, one hand stifling it and the other gripping at your clothes to resist from touching yourself right in front of him.
“Rex please go away” You said desperately, your head now in your hands and gripping at your hair to try and distract you.
“I can't! I can't leave you like this, are you crazy?” His voice was so exasperated, and you ground your teeth together as you shook your head in defiance.
“I need you to leave, now. Plea-” You were cut off by your own whimper escaping your lips.
The pain in your core was becoming unbearable. While you knew you couldn't die from this drug, you knew the only solution was to satisfy the intense desire that it gave you, but you would've taken death before pleasuring yourself in front of Rex.
“Cyar'ika let me help you” He said softly, coming closer to you again.
“Please don't call me that” You practically whined, your body acting without permission and splaying out of the floor, twisting back on itself.
“Tell me what's wrong” He ordered firmly, and you felt your desire for him only spiral further.
“The flowers” You exhaled, “They're making me… hot”
“Hot?”
“Yes, hot” You gritted through your teeth, your hand playing with the top button of your trousers. You had to relieve this pain soon before it became worse.
“What can I-”
“Just leave Rex!” You hissed, the pain becoming blinding, “Please leave” You were on the edge of tears, your frustration nearly matching your arousal. You continued begging, different sentence formations that included the words ‘leave’, ‘please’ and ‘Rex’ tumbling from your mouth in a last desperate attempt.
“Cyar'ika” Rex grabbed your chin, forcing you to look up at him, and another whimper escaped you at his touch, “I'm not leaving you”
You whined, “If you don't leave I-” You couldn't finish the sentence.
“You'll what?”
“I need to- you can't be here” You said already unbuttoning your trousers with shaking hands.
“Why not? Cyare you're not making any sense”
You'd were finally at your limit, the pain driving you insane.
“It's an aphrodisiac Rex!” You screamed, hands tightened into fists to hold yourself back.
Rex froze, “Oh”
“Yeah. Oh” You mustered up a desperate chuckle, curling up in a ball on the floor.
“What should I-”
“I don't know. I don't know, you just need to get out of here before I do something I regret” Your words tumbled over each other as you spoke.
He touched your shoulder lightly, and when you moaned at the simple gesture, he understood how bad it really was.
“Rex, leave!” You screamed at him again, your hand finally finding its way past the waistband of your underwear.
Rex immediately averted his eyes, “I'm just going to be over there, I don't want to leave you here like this”
“Whatever! Just do it!” You said, a loud moan escaping you as you fingers found themselves running easily through your slick folds.
Rex quickly moved away from you. The sounds of your moans spilling from your lips were driving him crazy, but he was also overwhelmingly worried about you. He wanted to help you, but he knew that wasn't something he could really do without… well, fucking you. The idea alone was working him up, and the sound of your moans growing more and more frustrated had his cock hardening and pressing into his codpiece uncomfortably.
“It's not working” You cried out and removed your fingers from working your clit to pull your top off, trying to at least ease some of the heat. You were at your wits end, your thoughts all blurred together.
“Rex!” You shouted helplessly, “Please come here!”
Rex ran back over to you in a flash, the sight of your body sprawled out on the floor making his heart beat out of his chest.
“It burns” You choked out, tears spilling from your eyes, “It hurts so much”
“Maybe I could help?” He suggested, letting his emotions get the better of him.
“Help?” You said in a disbelieving laugh, “Are you going to fuck me yourself Rex?”
The silence was so loud.
You looked up at him, standing above you, and his expression was absolutely flat.
“You're serious?” You practically gasped, and he just nodded.
You brought yourself onto your knees and cradled your head in your arms, mumbling under your breath. “Maker, this is so fucked up, I can't believe this is happening. I can’t-”
Rex interrupted your ramblings as he knelt down in front of you, placing his hands on your arms to take them away from your head. You looked up to him desperately, and you could see the pity in his eyes.
“Rex it hurts, it really hurts” You whispered, the pain continuing to burn into you.
“I know” He said soothingly, “I'm going to help you, okay? I'll make it feel better”
You whimpered, your breathing calming just the tiniest bit.
“Is that okay?” He asked, getting a confirmation that this is what you wanted from him.
“Yes” You breathed out, any shame now escaping you, “Please help me”
With that, Rex took you up in his arms, and darted back the short distance to the ship. He set you down on the bunk in the back area and pulled off your trousers and underwear in one swift motion. The sight that greeted him drew a deep groan from within his throat, but he was hesitating.
“Rex please” You begged in a strangled moan, needing to feel him immediately.
“I'm sorry Cyar'ika, I just didn't think it would happen this way” He said honestly.
“Wha-?”
Before you could even ask what he meant, his tongue found its place between your legs. You cried out, the pain in your stomach melting away into pure pleasure. He was eating you out as if it was his last meal, as if he hadn't eaten in weeks. It felt so incredible, and yet, your head still felt foggy, and your pulse was elevated to an unhealthy rate. Even as he worked at your clit, the sensation of him sucking and biting feeling divine, given straight from the maker, you knew it wasn't enough.
“Rex I need-” You began, your words getting caught in your throat.
“Tell me what you need Cyare” He hummed against your pussy, “Anything”
Your hips bucked, “I need more, I need you” You panted.
“I'll need a little bit more than that I'm afraid” He said, and you looked down at him to see the slight teasing smile curling his lips.
“Please don't make me say it” You whined as he licked a stripe from your entrance to your clit.
“Come on Cyar'ika, tell me” He cooed, his hands gripping at your thighs tightly.
“I need your cock! I need you inside me Rex! Please” You finally admitted, and felt Rex hum against your core.
“See that wasn't so hard was it” He rumbled.
He placed a kiss to your clit before he moved away, and you shuddered, feeling the pain begin to twist at your core once more. Rex made short work of his armour, his dexterous fingers working the clasps quickly, his brain on autopilot as he looked down at you writhing beneath him. He then slipped off his blacks and his cock finally sprung free. You moaned as you saw it, throwing your head back onto the bunk and trying not to think about how wrong this was.
“See something you like Mesh’la?” You knew Rex was smirking, you could hear it in his voice. It only drove you more insane.
“Shut up and fuck me Captain” You hissed, which pulled a deep groan from Rex.
He chuckled slightly as he replied, “Yes Ma’am”
He lined himself up with your entrance and looked up to you for confirmation, taking your face in his hand to make you look at him. You could see the question in his eyes, and behind all of your blinding arousal, your heart fluttered at the careful actions of the man you were undoubtedly in love with. You nodded.
“Please” You sounded so pathetic, and Rex brushed his thumb across your cheek tentatively.
“I’ve got you Cyare, don’t worry, I’ll make it better”
He breached you entrance and the moan that escaped your lips was the most sinful sound he had ever heard.
“Oh Rex” You whimpered sadly, and he stopped his movements to check that you were okay.
“What is it?” He rocked his hips back and then forward very gently, earning another moan. “What is it Mesh'la?” He whispered.
“I'm sorry” You whispered
“Why are you sorry?” He frowned, and pushed your hair from your face to get a proper look at you.
The pain burned hot inside you, but you needed to say this.
“You shouldn't have to do this, I'm so sorry”
“Cyare, I can stop if you don't want me to do this, I can let you finish yourself”
“No!” You said quickly, too quickly, “I mean-” You were floundering to find the right words but Rex just pressed a soft kiss to your temple.
“You don't need to say anything” He said gently and pushed deeper inside you, his cock now fully sheathed within you. You moaned gently at the sensation of the stretch, and it was music to his ears, “I'm going to fuck you now, and we can forget about it later okay?”
“Okay” You breathed out unsteadily.
He started to pick up the pace and it was heavenly. The feel of his cock dragging along your walls was divine, and if this was any other time it would have been perfect, but right now, you needed more.
“Rex, please-”
“Tell me Cyar'ika, what do you need?”
The underlying feelings that you already harboured for Rex were spilling into your words before you could stop them.
“Please, I need it harder, faster. Fuck me like you mean it Rex, please”
“Won't be a problem” He said breathily before he began pounding into you, and you could already feel the familiar coil tightening in the pit of your stomach, replacing any pain that once inhabited it. Rex slid his arm around you, arching your back so he could hit the deepest possible spot within you.
“Fuck” You hissed.
“That feel good?” He panted out, and you nodded hastily. Rex tutted slightly, “Use your words Mesh'la, tell me how it feels” He said, dragging his lips across your neck, leaving small markings behind as his teeth nipped at you.
“Fuck Rex, it feels so good. Please don't stop, I need you” You were whispering, as if it were a secret you didn't want to tell.
Rex groaned loudly, burying his face in your neck, “Say it again”
“Which part?” You said letting a small smirk onto your face at his reaction to your words. You knew exactly which ones he wanted to hear.
He looked up at you in disbelief of your teasing at this moment, then pressed his forehead into yours, slowing down his pace and making you whimper at the loss of intensity, “Tell me you need me”
You had no problem saying something as true as that. “I need you Rex, I want you” You emphasised, your eyes burning into his from a mere hairbreadth away.
He groaned, the distinction between the two phrases not lost on him. He quickly resumed his punishing pace, pulling away from you slightly to watch you. You felt the coil pull taught within you, just waiting to snap. You weren’t certain if the drug had something to do with it or not, but you had never been wound up to an orgasm so quickly by anyone else before.
“Stars, just like that” You moaned, eyes closing and head pushing back into the bunk.
“Fuck, look at you” Rex breathed out, “You’re so beautiful taking my cock like this”
The words hit you in the very centre of your being, and without thinking, you grabbed the back of Rex’s neck and pulled him in to your lips. His hips stuttered for one second, but then he was groaning into the kiss, his hips snapping to yours even harder, his fingers holding you down with bruising strength. You didn’t care at all. The idea of having his hands imprinted into your skin only sent you careering towards your orgasm.
“Rex I'm gonna-” You couldn’t even get the words out.
“That's it Mesh'la, let go, cum for me”
His words tipped you over the edge, the coil snapping suddenly and harshly, filling your system with intense pleasure. Rex wasn't far behind.
“Where-”
“Inside, please. I want to feel you Rex” You scraped your nails down the back of his neck as he rode you though your high.
“Kriff, you're going to be the death of me Cyar'ika” He mumbled, hooking his lips with yours as he snapped his hips to your one final time, spilling all of himself inside.
You both took a second to come down from your highs, breathing heavily against each others lips. The more your breath returned to normal, and the burning inside of your limbs subsided, the more the dread crept in.
Rex slid out of you without saying a word, without looking at you. You whimpered slightly at the loss and covered you mouth out of embarrassment. He left the room and your thoughts instantly spiralled out of control.
He’s never going to speak to me again. He’ll never look at me again. I’ve ruined everything. There’s no way we can just move on from this. I’m never going to be able to forget this. He’ll never look at me the same.
A moment later, Rex returned with a damp towel and knelt on the floor, placing a hand on your knee. “Open” He said gently, a kind smile across his lips as he guided your legs open to clean you up. You couldn’t look at him, opting to lay your head back and stare at the ship’s ceiling.
“Rex, I’m so sorry” You said quietly, tears pricking at the edges of your eyes.
“Don't be, I'm just glad I could help you” He replied, as sweet as he always was, and you felt the tears spill, running silently down the sides of your face.
Everything's ruined.
When he finished cleaning you up, Rex noticed your despondent expression and tear stained face and grabbed your hand tentatively.
“What are you thinking Mesh'la?” He asked, his deep voice exceedingly smooth.
“This isn't what I wanted, it shouldn't have been like this” You stared up blankly, blinking hot tears out of your eyes.
Rex's heart started beating faster, “Did I hurt you?”
“No!” You sat up, looking into his eyes, “It's not that it's-”
He brought a hand to cup your cheek and his thumb gently caressed your cheekbone, wiping some tears from under your eye, “It's what?”
You took a deep breath. Now felt like both the right and the wrong moment but you were past caring, your dignity was already laid outside in the bed of flowers that started this whole mess.
“I- I actually like you Rex, I might even love you, and now…” You looked down to your lap, shaking your head, “Now I've ruined everything. I'm just sorry” You buried your face in your hands, feeling ashamed of your actions, even if they weren’t entirely your own.
“Hey, hey” Rex pried your hands away from your face, “Cyar'ika look at me”
You raised your gaze to look into his eyes, your head still angled down as if it would stop the confrontation.
“You haven't ruined anything okay? Its not your fault, I-” He smiled a little, “I like you too, might even love you” He mimicked the way you had said it and your heart stopped.
“You do?” Your eyebrows pinched as you stared into his amber eyes, seeing only admiration and honesty swimming in their depths.
“Yes” He placed his hand on your cheek, “It's like I said, I didn't think it would happen like this”
“Oh, that's what you meant” You said plainly, and he chuckled at your expression.
“Yeah” He said, gently rubbing your thigh, “I'm sorry, I should've told you before all of this happened” He said, some kind of guilt creeping across his features.
“It’s okay” You took his face in your hands, “Thank you Rex, for helping me”
A smirk grew on his face, “Anytime”

Bacta and Bandages Chp. 1 (Rex x Reader)
I suppose this is a prequel to Darkness on Umbara. It's mostly going to be lighthearted after the darkness and despair of that series LMAO! Enjoy slow-burn Rex x Reader :)
Chapter 2. Chapter 3. Chapter 4. Chapter 5. Chapter 6. Chapter 7. Chapter 8. Chapter 9. Epilogue
Introductions
CW: Reader is gender neutral, no use of (Y/N), reader is a doctor, if I miss a tag LMK!
Minors DNI, and this is NOT proofread!
Assignment: 501st Clone Battalion
General: Anakin Skywalker
Commander: Ahsoka Tano
Admiral: Wullf Yularen
The datapad in your hands was bright. You couldn’t help but smile at the words on the screen.
When the war started, you stepped away from your job as a doctor in one of the hospitals on Coruscant to join the war effort. Your knowledge and experience with more advanced medical procedures gave you the rank of ‘Field Surgeon’ right off the bat. After a few weeks of combat training, army regulation and discipline, you were given a choice.
You could be the doctor of one of the natural born soldier battalions, or you could join a clone battalion.
You didn’t pick the 501st because they’re clones. You actually picked the 501st for their general.
Despite the war only being about a month in, you had gotten reports of all the battalion numbers. Casualties. Injuries. MIA. and other statistics.
Out of all the generals, Anakin Skywalker had the highest injuries, but lowest deaths. After some digging, you found out he was also one of the leaders who would fight at the front, with all of his men.
He’s a good man. You thought as you made the request to be assigned to the 501st.
Within the rotation you said goodbye to your family, friends and colleagues and prepared yourself. You stepped onto the transport ship that would take you to The Resolute, the venator you would be stationed with.
Your eyes roamed over your datapad. First steps would be to report to Admiral Yularen, a stern, hardworking yet patient admiral. He would be located at the command center of the ship, most likely. With luck, General Skywalker would be there.
Be professional. You told yourself, You are a capable doctor. You can handle this.
The ship landed in the hangar and you stepped off. You looked around getting your bearings. There was energy and movement happening around you, as you had come aboard the same time as a resupply of the ship. Troopers and maintenance crews dashed around, adding some chaos to the entire area.
Alright,” You sighed to yourself, “Find Admiral Yularen.” Despite the new meetings, you felt calm. Collected.
You managed to get about seven steps through the hanger before you heard a yelp and were crashed into by someone. You hit the ground and the heavy weight on top of you knocked the wind out of your lungs.
“Sorry!” That weight, a body clad in plastoid, scrambled to get off of you, “I didn’t see you, I was moving some medical supplies and-”
“Hardcase!” A pair of hands were helping you sit up, “I told you to be careful! Now you’ve hurt someone!” The voices were almost the exact same. A glance at the both of them told you all you needed to know.
Clone troopers. Not rookies, since their armor was painted blue.
“I’m alright,” You rubbed the side of your head. These two guys must be embarrassed, and there was no point in making a big deal of an accident.
“I am so sorry about Hardcase,” One of them, head shaved in a unique pattern, helped you stand, “He was let out of his tube too early and he’s been a moron ever since.” You spotted a flash of red on his shoulder plate.
Medic.
You were about to respond when another voice, this one holding more authority, cut above them.
“What have the both of you done?”
The two troopers scrambled, straightening. They saluted the approaching soldier.
Blonde hair. Blue paulron on one shoulder. Kama. ARC trooper? He has rank, clearly.
“Captain Rex, sir! We were moving supplies and-”
“Hardcase ran into this bystander.”
“Kix!”
The soldier, Captain Rex, looked over to you, “Are you alright?” He was standing in front of you, brown eyes roaming your form for injuries.
“Yes, Captain,” You slipped into professionalism, “It was an accident, nothing more.”
“Who are you? Are you authorized to be here?” His gaze was critical, most likely clocking you in as a potential threat.
“I’m your new field surgeon, sir.” You turned your datapad to face him. The screen held your credentials. You introduced yourself and continued, “I’m supposed to report to Admiral Yularen. Inform him I’m here and go to the medical bay.”
“Hm, alright doctor.” Rex handed you your datapad, “I’m on my way to the command deck, I’ll show you the way.”
You maintained your respect and professionalism, “Thank you, sir.”
“Both of you, get back to work. Now.” He snapped to both Kix and Hardcase before he began to lead you out of the hangar.
Captain Rex of the 501st. Who would have thought you’d meet him so soon?
Well, if you had questions about the troopers, he was the one to ask, “Captain, may I ask you something about the soldiers?”
“Go ahead, doctor.” He nodded to you, allowing you to continue.
“How is morale among the men?”
You’d need to be prepared for potential mental and emotional issues. Yes, clones were made to be resistant to the stresses of war, but they could still develop PTSD, depression, anxiety….
“It’s good, Doctor.” The captain responded, “With a leader like General Skywalker, the men are always in high spirits.”
Oh, that's a relief.
“That's good.” You looked down as you kept walking, “Do you know if any of the soldiers have chronic issues? I’d like to know if anyone needs extra or unique care.”
You didn’t miss how surprised he looked, but after a second he shook his head, “No. No issues that I’m aware of.”
You just got here, and already you were ready to work.
“That's good to know,” You looked down at your datapad, you wanted to take notes. Make sure you know these soldiers. You would be their doctor, their caregiver. You’d be treating their wounds and illnesses.
They go to you in their most vulnerable states.
Rex led you through the metal hallways. The venator was a large ship, and it would take a few minutes to get to Admiral Yularen.
“May I ask, Doctor,” His voice had taken a quieter, but still respectful tone, “Why join the 501st? There are non-clone battalions that could use a doctor, I’m sure.”
You smiled softly, “I wanted to help as many people as I can.” you responded honestly, “And based on the reports i’ve read, General Skywalker seems like a great leader.”
The captain seemed to accept your answer easily, “He is a fierce general. Reckless sometimes, but he cares for his soldiers. He won’t ask us to take risks that he himself wouldn’t take”
Ah, a good man indeed.
“I can’t wait to meet him, then.” You took in your surroundings. The halls of The Resolute were well lit. The metal of the floors and walls were protective and clean. The entire ship looked to be in great shape, indicating the maintenance crew were on top of everything.
The small talk you made with Rex was pleasant and polite. You could tell he was a hardworking soldier, and his men respected him.
It’s going to be pleasant working with him. You thought to yourself.
The double doors to the command center opened, revealing the heart and brains of the venator. Officers were walking around, discussing and planning for their next mission. At the center was a navigation table with a hologram of a planet with 5 moons.
In front of you was a young man, with lovely blue eyes and brown hair. He was clad in black armored robes. Beside him was a smaller togruta looking at you in curiously, her skin was orange, and she wore deep crimson clothing. At their hips were lightsabers.
Jedi.
The male jedi was listening as another officer, an Admiral, based on his uniform.
That must be Admiral Yularen.
Rex nodded and you followed, “General, sorry to interrupt, but someone needs to speak with the Admiral.”
The Jedi looked at you, tilting his head slightly, “And you are?”
You cleared your throat and introduced yourself, “I am your new field surgeon. I was told to report to Admiral Yularen.”
“Ah yes!” The older gentleman perked up, “You were the doctor who made a specific request to join the 501st. Welcome aboard.”
“Thank you, sir.” You nodded, “Happy to be here.”
“Well, Doctor.” The Jedi crossed his arms with a smirk, “I’m Anakin Skywalker, this is my Padawan Ahsoka Tano,” The young girl gave you a friendly smile and a nod, “I have to ask, why join my battalion? I’m sure there are non-clone legions that can use a doctor.”
“I wanted to help people,” You responded, “and since you have the fewest fatalities out of all the Generals…I thought your battalion was the best way to help.”
You’ve been repeating yourself a lot today…well, it was all part of introductions, you suppose.
General Skywalker seemed to perk up and look at you, “Fewest fatalities?”
Has no one told him?
“Yes sir.” You informed him, “You're the General with the fewest fatalities in your troopers. Injuries are high, but more men are surviving.”
“Huh.” His face practically beamed in pride, “I didn’t know that. But…well, good to know.”
“He’s going to brag to Obiwan about it.” Ahoska leaned forward slightly to make her snide remark, “We’re never going to hear the end of it.”
“Watch it, Snips.” He snapped, though there was no anger in his words, “I get to rub it in Obi-Wan's face that I’m a better leader.”
“More risky, I’d say.”
The two began to tease and taunt each other. They reminded you of siblings bickering. But, at the end of the day, they’d have eachothers back.
“Do they…uhhh,” You turned to Rex, “Do they do this often?”
“Yes.” He sighed, “They do.”
Admiral Yularen then addressed you as the two Jedi poked one another, “I’m sure you’ve had a long day. Your quarters are attached to the medical bay. Captain Rex, is it alright if you show our new doctor where they will be staying?”
“Of course, Admiral.” Rex saluted. He nodded to you to follow him.
You kept pace. There was something you wanted to ask, but you weren’t entirely sure how to ask it. As a doctor, you had to be sensitive to those of unique backgrounds. And the clones were certainly unique.
The clones were humans. But…how were they being treated by nat-borns such as yourself? They were an anomaly in the medical community right now. How are doctors handling their health?
“Captain Rex, may I ask a question of a…sensitive nature?” fuck it. May as well rip the patch off.
He paused and looked at you curiously, “I suppose so, doctor.”
“I will do my best to treat everyone on this ship equally and with respect,” You started, feeling as though you needed to explain yourself, “And I want to ask if there are any…boundaries, or lines I shouldn't cross when speaking to the soldiers. Everyone is unique of course, but I don’t want to unintentionally come across as rude or insensitive to clones.”
His eyes widened slightly. He looked at you as if trying to figure you out, “Us clones put loyalty above all else,” he answered honestly, “As for being rude and insensitive…well, just treat everyone how you would treat any other patient.”
Your smile was small but grateful, “Right. Thank you, Captain Rex.”
“Just Rex.” He responded, continuing to walk, “When there's no need for protocol, just Rex is fine.”
You nodded, “Then the feeling is mutual. When it's just us, you don’t need to use my title.”
Rex gave you an honest smile.
What a lovely smile, you thought to yourself.

Currently woozy but guess who watched the Umbara Arc in one sitting
I'm in my Rex feels right now, because Anakin remarks that Rex used to be very uptight like Dogma which implies that it took Rex some time to ease up. And he's the only blonde in the GAR, a cosmetic "defect" sure but he's also a gen 1 clone. He must've struggled so hard to ensure he wouldn't get decommissioned, must have stuck to the rules and followed orders to the letter just so he'd survive.
And here comes Krell demanding about his insubordination. Threatening against it. Don't tell me Rex wasn't thinking of his cadet-hood when Krell called him by his CT number. My man was going through it.
Tangent!
Okay, see, the thing is, when I watch the clones, I can literally see the times their past life on Kamino and their cadet-hood bleed into their present behavior.
Take Hunter, for example, when he's quietly doing as Shand tells him to in s3. I wonder how many times he's had to comply as a cadet for the sake of his brothers' safety.
Take Crosshair on Tantiss, resisting torture at every step of the way. Maybe he was trained for it. Maybe he trained himself for it.
Take Omega on Tantiss, keeping herself busy, never once giving up hope. I wonder if that's how she lived in Nala Se's private lab, always hoping to reunite with her brothers and eagerly waiting for a chance.
Basically, I've always felt like tcw and tbb give us the past of the clones implicitly in their behavior. Or maybe that's just me reading too much into it.
Okay, back to Umbara
@margindoodles2407 from whatever I've seen of Fives so far, your analysis is spot-on.
Even Jesse's far more chill than him.
And HARDCASE MY BELOVED <333
Please, he's such an optimistic feller. He would've loved Hevy, Cutup, and Wrecker.
I was cheering every time Fives got to say a bad word on Krell.
Love how the episode moves from Rex bending under the weight of Krell's nature until he decided he could take it no longer and snapped upright. "It's Captain, sir."
Rex and Fives are such father-son, I swear. Such first and second-in-command, what with all the times Rex pulls Fives away to talk with him.
Okay, so Tup is officially the baby of the 501st, right? And by baby I don't mean he acts like one, I mean he's the vod'ika that every clone will coddle because he's new, even if he does murder in cold-blood.
Rex giving off huge eldest son vibes with his "I have a duty to protect these men."
Hate that Rex had to stoop that low and use the "They're not just clones. They're men!" rhetoric. As someone who firmly believes where you come from should have no effect on your worth as a person, this irked me as much as it must've irked Rex and the other clones.
Petition for Fives to deck Krell.
I mean, yeah Dogma gets him good at the end, but Fives should have got the chance. He knew just what Krell was going to be like from the first moment he saw him. Retribution would've been sweet (neither the Christian nor the Jedi way, but c'mon! we all hate this guy)
What sort of hologram is that? With cubes and stuff? It looks so cool, but why is it like that?
Is tcw just going to constantly test Rex's beliefs the entire time? First Cut, then Fives.
Hardcase and Fives laughing and giggling as they flew in those Umbaran ships and blasted the enemy had me crying because they're so happyyy :')
Sorry but Krell calling Rex by his CT number those first two times is hilarious, how do you keep a straight face and say it like that?
Rex, on the other hand, seemed like he was traumatized on so many levels.
Fives is just. So brave, so bold, so fearless. He stands for what he believes in, he will not bow down or cower in the face of adversities. He's got that touch of recklessness, but there's an air of sternness and cleverness about him. He knows what he's doing. He's the madness to his method.
And he's a poet. No take backsies. Some of the best speeches have been given by him. He literally used the word "ire".
He's like a knight of yore. He's got the chivalry, the nobility, the honor, the courage. He's unflinching, he will look death in the face and slay it with his bare hands.
Even at his end, the speech he gave was not with his life in mind but the lives of his brothers.
You've heard of great men, you've heard of good men. And then there are men of high valor like Fives.
Rex's uncertainty is obviously meant to stem from his awkward stance as the bridge between Jedi and clones, but I can't help but see him thinking of his time when he was another defective clone cadet trying his best to survive.
Hardcase why'd you have to gooooo
That reveal, that tear running down Waxer's face, the little Numa painted on his helmet, I'm gonna cry.
Dang, wouldn't want to cross Tup.
"You sound just like Krell." I'd rather be shot with a blaster than be accused of mirroring that demagolka.
When Krell refuses to call for Kenobi, I just knew Rex felt the sinking feeling that he was going to be on his own.
Krell's freaky because throughout the entire thing he never once shows the signs of being a Seppie. Sure, his hatred for the clones is as clear as day, but otherwise, you never realize it's him.
That's all I have for now. Margin, feel free to add on, because the last time you did, you managed to cover stuff I'd been thinking of but had forgotten.

I'm in camp Rex is a natural blond, but he does dye his eyebrows for emphatic scrunchy face purposes unless it's funnier to make him a bottle blond with roots showing every second day 😄
i'm so curious as to why some people HC Rex as dyeing his hair while some depict him as a mutant. because, to me, this extremely busy decorated war officer, famously serious about his work, taking the time out of his day to bleach his hair is just... like distinguishing yourself with tattoos and/or painting your armor is one thing. regularly bleaching your hair takes time, commitment. that's such a different character than if he were a mutie.

“You know, I did tell you that this was a bad idea,” You say to your cousin as you sweep your flashlight from one side of the room to the other, making a face at the rotten wood, “I think I just saw a rat.”
“You probably did, Miss Priss.” Your older cousin, Yani, said with a roll of her eyes, “It’s not like anyone’s lived here in, like, years.”
“I think this building is a hazard,” You add as you direct the beam of light from your flashlight to the ceiling, which looks one violent sneeze away from total collapse.
Somehow your cousin manages to project her eye roll into her whole body, it would be impressive if it wasn’t so annoying. “You can always leave, baby cousin.”
“Ugh. I didn’t say that I wanted to leave,” You counter defensively, turning the beam of light towards your cousin, “All I’m saying is that we need to be careful.”
“I definitely should have left you behind,” Yani says loudly, “Come on, the floor looks safe this way.”
“You can’t determine structural integrity by looks alone, Yani. You know that.” You reply, though you still follow after Yani. Exploring condemned houses is not your idea of fun, but you can’t let her go alone either.
The floor creaks loudly under your feet, and you’re careful to make sure to walk close to the walls. Theoretically the floor should be sturdier near the walls, right? Yani, however, bounces down the hall like she doesn’t have a care in the world.
“Why are you walking so slow? Hurry up!” Yani orders from the end of the hall.
You sigh, and weigh your options. And then you sigh again, Yani will absolutely leave you behind if you don’t keep up with her. So you step away from the wall.
Halfway down the hall, there’s a sickening crack, and your stomach falls as the floor gives way beneath you. You see Yani’s horrified face as you begin to fall and you hear her scream your name…and then the world goes black.
The first thing you note when you wake up is pain. Pain in your head, your arms, your back, and your legs.
You’ve never been in so much pain in your life.
You slowly open your eyes. You expect to be laying on concrete, or something, looking up at the hole that you fell through. But you’re not doing either.
You blink blearily, trying to understand what you’re looking at. It looks…well…it looks like Yani’s canopy bed. Only decorated in dark blue rather than Yani’s neon yellow.
Slowly, very slowly, you sit up and look around.
You’re in a bedroom. A very nice looking bedroom, decorated in dark blues and whites. There aren’t any windows, but the room is comfortably lit with natural lighting from somewhere.
You slide to the edge of the bed, and swing your legs out from under the silky comforter, painfully getting to your feet.
You’ve been changed into a different outfit. And you’re covered in bandages, bacta infused bandages, based on the look of them.
You limp over to the door, each step like a knife into your feet and legs. You’re barely halfway across the room when the door clicks open, and a man steps into the room.
He looks just as surprised to see you as you are to see him.
He’s tall and broad, with blond hair. And he looks very concerned to see you up and about. “You should be resting,” He says. His voice is deep and soothing, somehow.
“Where am I?”
He pauses, and sets a tray of bandages and medical equipment on a table next to the door. “You’re in my home. I found you. You’re very badly hurt.” He gently, but firmly, guides you back to the bed and settles you back on the pillow, “My name is Rex. How are you feeling?”
“Bad,” You reply honestly, wincing in pain.
“You shouldn’t have tried to walk,” Rex chides, walking back over to the door and grabbing the tray of medical equipment. “I have some pain medicine and bandages for you. Let’s see if I can get you comfortable.”
You watch as he treats your injuries, his hands sure as they check and rewrap sutures. “Are you a doctor?”
“Hm? Oh, no. Some of my brothers are though. My brother Kix is the one who patched you up originally. I’m a soldier.” He pauses, “Or, well, I was a soldier. No need for soldiers when the war is long over.”
You tilt your head, “What war?”
He’s quiet for a long time, “Ah. Never mind that.” He presses a water bottle into your hand as well as some medicine, “Take these, it’ll help with the pain. And you’ll go back to sleep.”
“...thank you.”
Rex shakes his head, “Don’t worry about it.” He waits until you take the medicine, and then he takes the water bottle back, and waits until you drift off to sleep again.
It takes time for you to recover.
After a month of him caring for you, Rex admits that when he found you, every bone in your body was broken, and that the first time you woke up was after two weeks in a bacta tank to try and stabilize you.
And slowly, very slowly, you come to view Rex as a friend. He’s calm and patient, and so very gentle with you, as though he’s afraid that he’s going to hurt you.
You question, only once, why you’re not in a hospital and why you’ve not seen your parents. Rex’s answer gives you only more questions than answers, but it’s easy to trust Rex, so when he asks you to not ask questions until you’re completely healed…well, it’s a simple thing, really.
In total, it takes you over four months to recover enough that you’re able to walk without pain. And Rex is there for every day.
“You’re doing much better,” Rex notes as he watches you go through physical therapy with the droid that he acquired for you.
“I feel a lot better,” You agree as you limp over to a chair and settle on it. According to the droid, you would likely have the limp for the rest of your life, “Everything doesn’t hurt, at least.”
He smiles at you. “I’m glad to hear it. There was a time I worried you weren’t going to wake up.”
You shake your head, “You and your brothers have taken excellent care of me. I’m lucky I have you in my corner.”
His smile widens, and you blush slightly, averting your gaze from his, “I’m always happy to help, cyare.” Rex says easily.
He’s started calling you that recently, though whenever you ask when it means, he just grins at you and tells you that it is a nickname and it’s nothing bad.
“I know you are. You’ve done…more than I would expect from a stranger.” You get back to your feet, wincing as your bad leg twinges uncomfortably.
“And you’ve done too much, cyare.” Rex replies as he gets to his feet and walks over to help support your weight.
His hand is warm against you, and you lean into his warmth without really thinking about it. Rex smiles down at you, “Trying to leech my warmth, cyare?” He jokes.
“I wouldn’t have to if it wasn’t so cold in here.” You grumble.
“Maybe I keep it cold to have an excuse to have you pressed against me.” Rex says easily.
You blush dark red, and bump him with your shoulder, “You shouldn’t say stuff like that.” You mumble, “I might actually start believing you.”
Rex shifts and brushes his lips against your ear, “That’s the point, cyare.” And then he pulls away and winks at you, “Come on, I had your favorite lunch made.”
You’re blushing even more, “You spoil me.”
“Yup.” Rex guides you out of the exercise room and down the hall, but he stops before getting to the dining room.
“Rex?”
“I’m in love with you,” He says quietly, and then he laughs as your jaw drops and your face burns, he reaches out and lightly brushes his thumb against your lower lip, “Can I kiss you?”
“...yes please.” You whisper.
You barely manage to get the phrase out, before his lips are on yours. His lips are warm and dry, and so very gentle against yours. He breaks the kiss for only a moment, before his lips are back against yours. The second kiss is deeper and more desperate than the first, and your back bumps against the wall as you hook your arms around his neck and his hand slides around to cup the back of your neck.
He breaks the kiss and presses his forehead against yours. You’re both gasping for air, and Rex leans in to kiss you again. And then he closes his eyes and, with great effort, he moves back to give himself some space.
You look up at him, confused, and he laughs, “Can’t think when I’m that close to you.” Rex admits, “There are…I need to tell you some things. The truth about some things.” He murmurs, “Should have told you ages ago. Don’t want you to leave me though.”
You blink at him, hazily, “You’re married?”
He laughs, “No. No, I’m not.” He pauses, to collect his thoughts, “When you fell,” Rex began, “You fell a little further than you thought, or than I ever thought possible. I, we, had no idea that it was possible for someone to fall from the Mortal Realm into ours.”
“Rex…what?”
He sighs, “Cyare, you fell from the mortal realm into the realm of the fallen.” He grips your hip tightly, “The realm of demons. We…we don’t know how to send you back to your mortal realm.”
You gape at him, “So…you’re a demon?”
“Captain of one of the many Demonic Battalions, in fact.” Rex admits.
You hesitate, and then you nod slowly, “Okay.”
“Okay?”
“Okay.” You confirm. “You’re…Rex, you’re you. I’m not more afraid of you now than I was 10 minutes ago. You’re Rex.” You say, as if it is the most obvious thing in the world. Which, really, it is.
Tension drains from his shoulders, “You’re not leaving me.”
“Of course not.”
You squeak when his lips crash back against yours. One of his hands tangles in your hair, while the other one slides around your back, pulling you flush against him. “Thank you,” he breathes against your lips, before pulling you back into another deep kiss.
