TROLL (2022)
listen--i know, i know, it's netflix (they haven't been slapped with a good series they havent wanted to cancel after only one season) but if i may rec the new-ish movie that just came out?? (lord knows it hasn't been as heavily promoted as something like bullet train)
why i like troll and why i think some of you might too:
father/daughter relationship that made me teary-eyed (will never think of the phrase "the adventures of big and tiny" the same way)
it's norwegian but plenty of english is spoken too (if u like that sort thing)
it's a norwegian monster film tho
MONSTER FILMMMMM
AND NORWEGIAN
as a big fan of pacific rim and the alien franchise, there are definitely vibes of both in here, but it's also its own pretty cool monster film
apparently it's directed by the same guy that did the new tomb raider??? but i never watched tomb raider so that means nothing to me, but it is a fun fact
THE SCENERY IS SOOOOO PRETTY (I mean, of course norway is a pretty country, i say, not having ever set foot in it, but if the movie is anything to go by IT'S SOOO PRETTTY. and the troll wall/peaks is apparently a real thing?? a very beautiful thing. ANYWAY, nature lovers will appreciate the many beautiful shots of the beautiful scenery and mountains and the Troll Wall--which, again, IS REALLLLL AND SOOOO PRETTY)
our main heroine is so pretty and badass but, most importantly, A PALEONTOLOGIST who has to remind all the sexist men in the room to call her Dr. Tidemann, gdi
sure, it starts off a bit slow (and we dont really get a good view of the monster until like a half hour in) but it's worth sticking through
so many geeky jokes
there's a character called captain kris holm who reminds me of stephen amell and in my head he's the norwegian oliver queen
MOST IMPORTANTLY ALL THE GOOD DOGGOS IN THIS MOVIE SURVIVE (tho the same cant be said of the humans in this movie, but, ehhh, we dont care about them)
suuuure, there's some anti-christian propaganda but they deserve it (speaking as a christian, technically, it's okay for me to say that, seeing as christianity as a whole organized religion has done a lot of harm in the world and IN THE MOVIE THEY KILLED OFF ALL THE TROLLS!!! URGHHH HOW DARE U, CHRISTIANS)
LISTEN THIS IS SUCH A BANANAS MOVIEEE
the troll just wanted to go home????! but the stupid christians killed off all of his family??? aND IMPRISONED HIM IN SOME FAR AWAY MOUNTAIN like, booooo, christians, BOOOOO
ANYWAYS, was it a perfect movie?? no, and it didnt reinvent the genre of monster films bUT I CRIED FOR THIS TROLL.
ALL THE TROLL WANTED WAS TO GO BACK HOMEEEEE
I'm sorry for spoiling that relevant plot point, but i have to acknowledge how utterly poignant this movie makes me about this troll
it def. leaves room for a sequel which i hope they make (if only so i can get more of captain kris and nora together. ok, i ship them. even if nora and the egghead are kinda cute too...)
SO ANYWAYS DEF RECOMMEND if only to be on the troll's side 100% and yell at the tv and the stupid human characters

GMA’s TJ Holmes looks somber on shopping trip as disgraced host & girlfriend Amy Robach fight their suspension from show
Kylie Parham
Updated: 10:01 ET, Jan 18 2023
Tumblr media
TJ Holmes has been spotted on a somber shopping trip in Manhattan amid his shocking affair and ongoing suspension from Good Morning America.
GMA fans have urged show producers to fire TJ, 45, and his co-star Amy Robach, 49, after learning of their scandal.

But that hasn't stopped TJ from continuing on with life as normal amid his ongoing suspension.
The reporter was spotted on a midtown Manhattan shopping trip on the morning of Tuesday, January 17 with a glum expression on his face.
The TV personality wore jeans, a black jacket, a black scarf, sneakers, and black sunglasses as he left Zara with a shopping bag.
TJ was then seen grabbing breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien before continuing on with his day.
READY FOR REPLACEMENTS
The GMA3 star's outing followed fans begging the network to permanently hire the suspended hosts' replacements, Rhiannon Ally and DeMarco Morgan.
The pair were taken off GMA3 in December after their off-screen relationship was exposed, and they remain suspended while an investigation is conducted.
Rhiannon and Ally have been filling in for the couple in recent weeks and seem to be a huge hit with viewers.
A video of the newbies interviewing Below Deck captain Sandy Yawn was shared on Instagram from the broadcast on January 13.

Fans flooded the comments with their praise for Rhiannon and DeMarco.
One wrote: "Time to make these two permanent hosts!! TJ and Amy can do something else within ABC."
Another added: "Really enjoying GMA3 with the new hosts. #dumpRobachandTJ."
A third posted: "Their chemistry is amazing, these two need to be permanent!"
SHOCKING AFFAIR
TJ and Amy, sent shockwaves through the TV world when their relationship was exposed in late November 2022.
The couple, who began anchoring GMA3 in 2020, reportedly began their affair last summer.
They were taken off GMA3 after the public caught wind of their relationship.
The duo will reportedly remain suspended until an internal investigation of their actions has been completed.
A number of hosts have been filling in for them during their time off, including Janai Norman and Gio Benitez.
Since their relationship was made public, Amy and TJ have not kept it hidden.
They were caught kissing and cuddling during a steamy getaway to Miami days after Christmas.
The couple also smiled and looked cozy during a grocery run days later.
TJ filed for divorce from his wife, Marilee Fiebig, late last month in New York after 12 years of marriage.
They have a 10-year-old daughter, Sabine, together.
Amy has also separated from her husband, Andrew Shue., but has not yet filed for divorce.
AWKWARD ENCOUNTER
Over the weekend, the disgraced host was spotted in an awkward reunion with her soon-to-be ex-husband.
The embattled morning show host met up with her partner in New York City to hand off their family dog.
Amy looked sullen as she strolled down the street, leash in hand, to meet Andrew, 55.
The TV personality kept it casual wearing a two-toned brown sweater with a black shirt underneath, and a form-fitting pair of jeans.
She capped the look off with a pair of brown high-heeled boots and a bag hung over her shoulder.
Andrew wore a grey sweater with a slightly darker grey puffer coat over top.
He also had on a pair of black pants and track shoes.
The pair appeared to chat briefly as she handed over the dog.
Amy and her estranged husband kept a slight distance between them.
Andrew bent down at one point to greet the dog while Amy appeared to look at her phone.
They both walked off on their own after the hand-off.
