- Decode is an older demon from the cyber realm, (a realm in this world is essentially a different plane linked to the regular GD world, you’re able to access/ travel to corresponding to the themes: Hell, Astral, Heaven, Cyber, and Void. more on that later!) The cyber realm is home to demons relating back to tech and electronics, it’s also where the golden age of innovation was as the world shifted into 1.9 (it still needs a better name LMAOO) with new vehicles and advancements yadda yadda,,

- He is a demon created in the 1.9 era for the purposes of combat but eventually found himself into the more technical aspects of creation, sinking a lot of time into developing a lot of the realm’s technology. While the tech back from 1.9 is considered outdated now, he essentially paved the way for the realm’s future demons to thrive off of, as well as being just as resourceful to the mortals (this part is still mega wip so SORRY if it’s weird ehehe )

- Decode Electronics is still a wip too, but it’s a large company known for providing vehicles, so things like UFO’s, robots, ships, etc! He’s very well respected on both the human and demon ends despite being a bit dated/ being of a lower power demon rank. While he doesn’t fully own it anymore, he’s still content with where he is now, and that is being stationed at the main(?) city branch. That’s how he met NC actually lmao

- Unlike most greedy capitalists he’s not like that! Big responsible man,, very patient especially when helping out employees/customers.. still able to lose temper but he’s mellowed out a lot.. I’m not mad just disappointed. OK. For the uninitiated. Where to even begin lol.

So it all starts with a gremlins fueled haze. We'd watched the scooby doo movie earlier that day and au thoughts had been lit. Add codywan, my need for begrudging Anakin and cody buddy team ups, and the servers pet rat: it was a recipe for a fever dream. The gremlins music at 1am really just stoked the fire.

So the premise is: no order 66. It's post war, they're not quite at that happy ending yet. There's a feeling that they've all dodged a huge bullet. Cody is learning to live. Obi Wan has taken a sabbatical to figure things out post war. Anakin has been divorced, lost custody, and rejected the Jedi's help. He's a hot mess. He's trying to figure out who he is, in the most messy 'I'm 23 and didn't do any of this when I was 19' kind of way. He's partying. He's become a student. He's messing up in all the mundane ways that you can think of.

Then, he gets a mysterious invite to a all expenses paid resort. It's suspicious as hell, he pays that no notice. He's spiralling.

Now. The resort. Is rat themed. Don't think about that too hard. It's like Disney but it's rat themed and it's adults only so there's lots of rat bars ect and it's on an island. It's like the resort in the scoobydoo movie but it's more disneyfied and capitalist and also all of the rats are terrifying. Like. We have a storyboard of the worst rat costumes I could find (including our fav pet rat obviously) and that's the inspo we're working from here

Now if you're new to rat island you probably think that's the end. Oh no. That's just Chapter 1.

This is based on the scooby doo movie afterall. There's a sith conspiracy on the island. There's bodyswapping. AND. There's a dog.

"Cody had always prided himself on his propensity for research. He was not one to walk in to a situation unprepared. As soon as they’d heard of Anakin’s trip, he’d done some digging.

Rat island was a combination of theme-park and party island, located on the beach planet: Muridae. The resort was, in its entirety, dedicated to a small mammalian creature native to the planet Eukaryota--which is not even in the same system.

Supposedly, the park was based around an ageing cartoon show that had only grown in popularity with civilians during the war, the war had brought many things, a wave of rat based nostalgia was maybe less expected than others.

Despite all his research, nothing could prepare him for the reality of it. As they leave the lander Cody finds himself in a corner of the galaxy he’s rarely had reason to imagine, let alone see. A place of over indulgence, excess and noise.

It isn’t one of the strangest places he’s found himself, Cody had seen weirder things during the war. Not many, but still, some. On one of the strangest planets. But this was maybe one of the least familiar. Kamino had never prepared him for this.

When they stepped out onto the landing platform, Obi Wan looked far too pleased. Cody only scowled.

He wished he’d listened when he was told to bring sunglasses but was utterly unwilling to admit it. Once, when he wore armour wherever he went he had a built in visor, he had tints! He squinted in the sun. Civilian life really was grim sometimes.

“Isn’t this nice.” Obi wan said, looking down at the nearby beach.

“We aren’t staying.” Cody told him shortly.

“Of course not dear, we are just here to collect Anakin.” Obi Wan agreed.

Cody gave him a suspicious side eye.

“Is the sun getting in your eyes, dear?” Obi Wan asked, tilting his head and looking at Cody through his own sunglasses, ridiculous bug eyed things.

“No. Not at all.” Cody lied.

Obi -Wan gave him a long look. Cody ignored it.

Eventually, Obi-Wan he spotted a map. “Ah look. Over here Cody. Look! There's a gift shop.”

“No.” Cody told him, flat, No gift shop.”

Obi Wan gave him a sad look.

“No.” Cody said again. He squinted at the map. “Where is the security office.”

Obi Wan sighed. “To the west.”

“Right lets go.”

Obi wan gave a pitiful sigh. Cody ignored that too.

Cody knew very well they’d be visiting one of the islands many gift shops before they left this forsaken place, there was no need for him to give in so early; Obi wan would only take advantage of such a weakness.

As they round the corner, a person dressed in a loose fitting grey costume, their whole head obscured by that of a rat, seems to pop-up out of nowhere, scaring the shit out of Cody.

“Have a Rat-tastic day!”

Cody will not be having a Rat-tastic day. He finds himself uncertain of what exactly a Rat-tastic day is, but he does know that he will most definitely not be having one."

Next, in this snippet, they finally visit the gift shop:

"Dear. Just pick a pair."

Cody continued to look at the sunglass stand in affront.

"I don't need any."

"Yes." Obi Wan gave him a stern look. "You do."

Cody gave the stand another spin, increasingly offended. "Does every pair have a rat?"

"Well…" Obi-Wan was looking towards the counter, where a sign declared that they where standing in an establishment of 'Rat-tastic Gifts'

Cody just scowled. "Why does the sun have to be so bright?" He made an irritated noise. "This place!" He huffed. "Couldn't Anakin have picked anywhere else?"

"Well, he was invited…"

"He had to accept! Who would accept an invite to Rat karking Island? Only Skywalker. Who would invite Skywalker to a Rat Island in the first place? The whole place seems like some demented way to torture people." He grumbled a few choice words under his breath.  

"Dear…" 

"Fine!" Cody picked out a pair with the least obstructive rat he could find, only a small metal rat shaped medallion on the end of each arm and a rat print that was, thankfully, reserved for the inside of the arms only.

As they made their way to the counter he caught Obi-Wan looking towards a display showing one of the worst rat costumes Cody had ever seen. It was made out of a kind of plush velveteen fabric that was quite frankly, monstrous. The thing was made of far too much material, giving it the appearance of wrinkly skin. And to add insult to the injury of having to see this thing (and see it he had, the staff in this place roamed the paths dressed in a collection of eclectic rodent outfits) the face was… The eyes. They boggled. The whiskers, were wonky. It was barely recognisable as a rat. 

"NO."  Cody managed, as he marched them to the counter. 

"Feeling ratty?" The twilek at the counter greeted with a bright smile. 

Cody swallowed a small amount of bile. "We are not." He grunted. 

The shop assistant seemed slightly caught for words, his lack of enthusiasm halting her usual script.  She looked to the sunglasses down on the counter. "Ah. Soon!" She threatened, with a smile. 

When they left the shop,  Obi Wan burst in to laughter.

"Soon!" Cody repeated. "I karking hope not. This place is like a cult."

Obi-Wan took one look at his face and burst in to renewed wheezes.

Per the last post, if Ties That Bind WERE to have an opening theme, the second OP for Tiger & Bunny is the CLOSEST it comes to sound and style. (It helps that the translated lyrics sound VERY Meg/OP)

As a fun note, for those curious, the cityscapes you see here—kind of a neo art deco—are the closest approximation to metropolises in TTB (which were also design with a tier system unique to this anime) Also Blurr’s inspo appears here and believe me when I tell you that you cannot miss them, and they are FABULOUS.

For those who haven’t watched Tiger & Bunny, PLEASE DO! It’s SUCH an underrated anime that deserves more love, from the set design to the VERY VARIED and well-designed characters (There isn’t a SINGLE ‘standard anime face’ in sight, and more specifically, there’s more than one good-coded black character in a repeat role and they’re all tastefully/properly designed). The lead is a bumbling single dad struggling with irrelevancy in a highly competitive, capitalistic business which he’s determined to find some meaning in, because he still believes in the core (supposedly outdated) tenets of being a ‘hero’ as opposed to his partner, who sees it as the business model it has become, and it focuses on how these two find common ground and bond with each other (there’s very clear Bi subtext going on) amid a growing whodunnit under the city’s gleaming exterior.

It plays with and subverts a LOT of superhero characterisations/tropes, and is more amazing in the second movie (I believe! There have been maybe three?) which focuses on Fire Emblem/Nathan Seymour’s inner struggle with self acceptance under their flamboyant, fun veneer, despite everything they have ever achieved, and how they come around to learning to truly love themselves for who they are as their team mates all furiously defend them (Both in a physical sense and the “DON’T YOU DARE SPEAK ABOUT THEM LIKE THAT!” sense) from antagonists who very markedly see them as ‘wrong’. The creators/writers were open about seeking out input from members of Japan’s LGBTQ+ community when they were writing Nathan’s narrative, and it REALLY SHOWS.

(This show was actually relegated as a B project for the studio it was assigned to with very little oversight from the higher ups, which is how they got away with so much stuff standard anime would otherwise not greenlight and WHY IT NEEDS MORE LOVE!!!)

in the fic ash has a mimikyu which he gets from his trans friend whos taken by team rocket at the start of the fic, and is basically his pikachu (kinda represents society's masking/glorification while suppressing those it deems unworthy -right wings vs trans/ queer ppl- (heavy inspo from night in the woods and lily alexandre's transness video) ), and deoxys is kinda the main villain of the first act, possessing (dead) giovanni and executing team rockets goals so it can go to it's next planet-host (kinda like the anti-cap god-slaying trope where the alien god-virus possesses a businessman/politician, except bringing in some ideas from capitalist realism with the dna, mafia, and zombie imagery, plus a bit of body horror shenanigans)

On Lies I Didn't Know Were Lies

Hi everyone <3 I'm just gonna get straight to what if you're reading this, you most likely want to know about:

I did not mean to lie about posting the next chapter of an echo, a stain in July.

I have NOT abandoned an echo, a stain. 

It will be a minute before I recover my mojo.

And now, for those of you with vague interest in details, a bit more explanation:

By the time I graduated my program, finished my practicum, completed the requirements for certification, got my paperwork sorted, and was finally done, it was mid-July, and I was hardcore job hunting.

Great news! I got a job! As a school librarian! With a non-heinous commute!

So once I got that job, I ended up sleeping for more like nearly a month than a week, because apparently being sick for 10 months and then trying to accomplish every academic, professional, and personal goal you'd meant to achieve during that time while also tryna figure out how to pay rent with no income really fucks with your stamina.

Then I had a bunch of trainings to go to, and visits to fam and friends I hadn't seen in a year, and started my new job.

For those of you uninitiated in the agony and the ecstasy of being a K-12 teacher, this lands me in the DEVOLSON. (The Dark, Evil Vortex Of Late September, October, and November. Google it. It's a brilliant thing that I did not come up with but that is absolutely fucking true.)

The beginning of a new school year is fuckin' NUTS. I can't describe it. It's too much. Suffice it to say that even when you're returning to a school you've been teaching at for years in a position/at a level you've been doing for years, the beginning of the school year is always overwhelmingly busy and hectic and involves more pivots than every runway walk at New York Fashion Week combined. Starting a new job in a new position at a new school in conjunction with this is ... loooooooool. Anyway it's great, it's been great, I love my new job and my new school and my new students but when I tell you every iota of energy, creativity, mental acuity, and basic capacity to accomplish anything has been completely absorbed by my job, it's really not hyperbole lol. But, as my fellow New Jerseyan and hair band charmer Jon Bon Jovi would say, "we're halfway there." Sort of.

I'm not even going to try to predict when the next chapter of an echo, a stain will drop, and I won't make any promises.

What I will say is that with any luck, things will calm down in December and settle into far chiller rhythms. I'm gonna play me some Dragon Age: the Veilguard, sorry not sorry but I been waiting for that fucking game for ten years and for good or for ill, I need to KNOW.

Once that settles, it's probable I'm going to feel some inspo for a story I've neglected for even longer than aeas (WAY longer, in fact) and hopefully finish that fuckin thing or at least figure out where I want to go with it. After THAT (or possibly concurrent with that, tbh), I will return to aeas, whose place in my heart is precious and undiminished.

well... I mean, I feel bad about disappointing you, because I genuinely do appreciate people's investment in the story and understand the anguish of waiting for a chapter/ending that seems like it will never come, but also... damn, you don't gotta be mean about it looool.

Unfortunately, we live in a late-capitalist hellscape and so I have to work a lot and pretty hard to barely scrape by and I'm still recovering from being sick for a long time, so I only have so much capacity to do stuff. It's growing, but it's limited, so here we are! I am sorry for having fallen off, though. I really hadn't expected to.

But never fear, I'll be back -- and more importantly, so will aeas. Not gonna lie, I'm kinda scared by having been away so long, and worried that I won't be able to live up to the ambitions I had for the story, but that's not holding me back or anything. I'd rather try and fail than leave it hanging in the breeze unfinished.

It's just gonna take some time. Anyway, I hope y'all are doing well and that life throws some joy at you.

Also listen I am SERIOUSLY not gonna lie but if shit goes awry on that first Tuesday in November, it's gonna take me a minute to reconcile myself with all that. Just sayin'.

I go on pinterest to look for neat character design inspo its ai slop i go on etsy to look for cross stitch or sewing patterns its ai slop i go on tiktok to kill my time during my commute its automated askreddit ai text to speech slop. I used to be unable to peel myself away from the screen and now I find that instead of addictive, the mainstream platforms on the internet are bordering on becoming unusable. It feels like almost half of what I see are either ads, ai, or engagement farming. The internet was supposed to be WEIRD. Cringe oc’s and shitty flash animation and amvs and fandom drama. Hello new moot! What was your main inspo for Westwood? Or the main inspo for your various OCs?

Hiiii!! It's a mildly embarrassing answer LMAO, I started working on Violet specifically in about 2018 when I first got into some online roleplay forums! She was the foundation of the entire universe being built and none of it would have happened without her. But... she was originally built off a certain.... wizard school novel with an author who has since outed herself as a horrible person. (Note: I don't support her anymore!)

A lot of the story origins in recent plans stemmed from I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston which I read pretty shortly after it came out! I liked the idea of girl goes missing and MC is tasked w/ finding her. Since I felt my original romance plot for Westwood had been lacking anyway, I decided to build upon it in a way I found interesting and fit my own plot beats I already had. It was mostly just the Gone Girl of it all in my opinion that led to me to it!

For my actual worldbuilding of Westwood I had this kind of idea that was a mash up of a lot of my favorite sci-fi shows/movies/books. My main inspiration is definitely Cowboy Bebop in regards to space travel, as well as humanity conquering the galaxy. I also had a lot of inspiration from various other sci-fi novels on just... so many things. Some of which were read too long ago and have been too ingrained for me to remember the name.

Ideas like body modifications were inspired by it being such a commonly used trope, but a few big inspirations are Cyberpunk Edgerunners (I'm too broke for actual video games) and some of the body mods touched on in the Scythe series by Neal Schusterman.

A lot of my aesthetics and themes also tie into my deep love for punk and metalhead counterculture. I can't write a story without it being anti-capitalist or anti police state in some way, and this one has a lot of that.
