Conceptual series -- Disposable Camera

What if, during their first patrol together, Ellie and Dina found a disposable camera in a drawer at the radio station?

For those of you who’ve never experienced the joy of the disposable film camera, they are made of flimsy plastic and contain the cheapest consumer-grade film. They’re designed to take a single type of exposure, with a set shutter speed, aperture and focus, and the best shooting conditions are bright daylight.

Outside of the ideal shooting conditions, you need to activate the flash to yield a usable picture. Red eye is inevitable. The flash is also set to fire at a specific power, so standing either too close or too far from your subject means they’ll either be too bright or too dark.

It’s very difficult to get perfect conditions for every shot, so when you take the film for processing (to Weston’s Pharmacy, of course), the processing machine automatically tries to compensate for pictures that are too dark or too bright. The result is often an extremely crushed dynamic range, and a lot of grain. They look crappy, but that’s part of the fun.

After 25 years in a desk drawer, I like to think that not only would the film have degraded quite a bit, but the housing would have lost some integrity and sprung a leak. This camera has a very slight crack in the housing, which leaks light when the camera is taken out into the daylight.

Typically, there are 24 exposures in one of these cameras, so I have included all 24 pictures that Ellie and Dina took together, including the duds. Some of you may point out that disposable cameras didn’t produce a date stamp in the bottom corner — this is true, however I think it adds to the effect I was going for, and also since we know the canonic date that this patrol happened, I thought it would be a cool detail to include it.

Hello hello!

If/when you have the time to do so, it'd be pretty cool to see some headcannons about the type of nerd stuff Tim does/is into. Like what kinds of games and shows he's into, "nerdy" behaviors of his, would he ever cosplay, etc. I personally think that he'd be into Dungeons and Dragons (not sure to what degree though).

Also, as an alternative, you could do headcannons about Tim with a nerdy!S/O who "matches his freak", so to speak.

TIM DRAKE NERDY HOBBIES HCS

Tim being into DnD is actually canon! The game he played in the comics was called Warlocks and Warriors

So, to what degree would he play? I think a pretty serious one

Not necessarily every week game night sort of thing, but at least once at month, or when he and his group can regroup to play together

I can see him going deep into the character making. Choosing the name accurately to the ability they have, the powers and so on

He wouldn’t be necessarily into “solving” games, like cluedo, for example. He is a vigilante, it’s a big part of him sure, but he also needs a break you know?

Games that represent too “close” to his real life would be a no no from the get go. Monopoly, cluedo and anything of the sorts

He is the type to prefer table games. Regrouping with his friends and play cards or anything really, just makes his night

In terms of video games I can see him play mini games (?) like small horror, thrilling ones on his pc. Otherwise he enjoys going to the arcade more. 80/90s style games are more up to his liking

Though, something he really LOVES, is Pokémon. He has a Nintendo switch just to play Pokémon games

Guilty pleasure are cooking mama, animal crossing and super Mario

The type to download the sim just to recreate you guys on the game and your love life

Loves legos. Especially the big set ones, he finishes them so quickly

I see him as someone who really would enjoy watching anime and reading manga

Definitely fantasy ones, especially ones with mythical creatures, aka vampires (?) idk I just get those vibes

when i saw that shit airing i yelled and spilled wine on my carpet.

like. i feel like this is common sense but i dont know if people realize how intentional each second of a show/movie is. like whether the show is a silly sitcom or a serious drama everything is so intentional and purposeful. of course theres always continuity errors and mistakes that happen when you’re creating a show of that size thats been running for so long but for the most part everything has its intentions. its why you see certain themes come back again and again. im not gonna get into outfit meta or anything like that because its not really my wheelhouse but i did learn a lot about camera techniques and im a writer so. yeah.

shots are one of the most important aspects of a movie or a tv show. they set the mood. close up shots convey intensity and emotion while more wide shots establish a scene etc. they gave us a lot of close up shots of eddie’s face in the kim and eddie scene at the end of 7x09 because it was an intense moment for eddie as a character for example. you have to get the shot right to convey what you want your audience to see yknow.

so. you have the medal ceremony. they couldve done the announcements for these people in literally any order because they fucking wrote the script. they didnt do it alphabetically or anything normal they literally had the trio of triangulated desire standing in the back with buck in the middle AGAIN while chim and hen were being normal and serving cunt up front. and when they were sitting they had buck in the middle again because reasons. then once they got their medals itd pan to their families and significant others clapping. ofc for tommy they pan to buck because thats the person there supporting him. for BUCK they had so many options. they had bobby, his captain that he verbally said was his father figure the next episode, they had maddie, his fucking SISTER AND THE WOMAN WHO RAISED HIM, and they had tommy, the dude he’s dating. instead they pan to eddie.

literally that is the absolute LOUDEST fucking thing the show has done so far in my opinion. they panned to buck for tommy!!! they couldve panned back to buck or done it in a different order if they didnt wanna repeat so they could pan to them for each other!!! but they panned to eddie and the director of photography was even emphasizing that choice on twitter.

the entire bi arc had eddie written all over it. they had so many opportunities to shove their relationship to the side and double down on their friendship but they didnt. instead we had buck tweaking at the gym where we have no idea who eddie was even talking to on that phone, eddie constantly mentioned by buck in a kiss scene with someone else, the line of all time ‘MY attention?’, eddie interrupting the date next episode, buck not even giving a FUCK about the date because he lied to eddie, the shit maddie said that episode about being confused about his feelings, eddie saying nothing is gonna change between them (which. thats a chekov’s gun if ive ever seen one), and all the entire shit with the bachelor party. not even mentioning the implications of the song choice for the karaoke scene that paralleled madney because we didnt get it in the episode. they couldve completely avoided all of that but they didnt and then when buck is dating someone else they dont pan to HIM being happy and supportive for buck, they pan to EDDIE. it feels as if its supposed to remind us what’s actually going on or another attempt to clue us in

also like right after they had the two who were dating acting as acquaintances. and had that guy also kinda put buck’s excitement down at said ceremony. and later in that episode had buck ditch plans with the guy he was dating to make sure eddie was okay. for reasons i guess. so buddie canon or theyre doing a real bad job at getting me to care about bucks actual man

usually, you’re vocabulary is a little more mature, but this—standing on the sidelines while your teammates lose to a team they could be winning against—it blows.

and your ankle injury? it blows. the fact that you’re out for the rest of the season, the fact that you know your teammates are blaming you for their losses, the fact that this is your last season and you can’t even finish it—yeah, it fucking blows.

and to top it all off, sugawara’s staring at you from the other side of the gym. he’s sitting with the rest of his team, who are all chatting about something, but his eyes are locked on you. he’s leaning forward, elbows on his knees, hands interlocked, glaring.

you know he’s judging you. you can feel it radiating off of him. even when you resist the urge to stare back at him, you know he’s got his eyes on you.

and the thing is, you don’t know why. since first year, sugawara has had some sort of issue with you. it started in a photography class, when he outwardly refused to be your partner for the semester. and then you noticed that he was avoiding you in the halls. and when the girls and boys volleyball team had their shared team dinner, he didn’t even go near the homemade noodles you brought.

it’s embarrassing, mostly. sugawara is the nicest guy in school—except, apparently, when it comes to you. he’s nice to all of your friends, and when you show up to the conversation, he leaves. immediately.

you’ve tried to be nice. even when people snickered at you in that stupid photography class, you had just laughed it off, saying you’d work by yourself. that semester had been gruelling—even as a first year. and at that team dinner, when you complimented him on his dish and he’d outright ignored you, you’d brushed it off with a small sigh.

for the nth time tonight, you look back up at him. his posture shifts a little bit as you meet his gaze, but he doesn’t look away. you tilt your head to the side, as if asking “what.”

he does the same, but his eyes narrow. a challenge. you scoff and roll your eyes, focusing back on the court. and then, you make a decision.

you’re going to talk to him after the game, ask him what the hell his problem is.

the game is over quicker than you thought it would be. seijoh wins and you pretend not to notice the way they sneer at you and your teammates, throwing a cruel laugh at you every so often. you’re so wound up, you almost go after one of them—their libero. feisty little thing. she sticks her tongue out at you as she walks by, like she’s a child.

you walk behind the others on your way back to the locker room, head down. your careful not to trip over your crutches, or get in the way of anybody, but somebody walks by you and their scent hits your nose and you fumble.

your crutches skid to the other side of the hallway and you fall to the ground with a oomf. you sit there for a moment, contemplating even getting back up. and then a pair of shoes appears in front of you, followed by the same scent from before.

”that looked like it hurt.”

the voice hits your ears and you want to throw up. sugawara. you look up and he’s staring down at you, holding your crutches in one hand. “yep,” you say, strained. you help yourself up, putting the weight on your none-injured foot. “can i have my crutches back now? thanks.”

he hands them back with an almost inaudible scoff. he starts to walk away, but then you remember. “wait,” you call out, maneuvering until you’re turned to face him again. “can we talk, actually? i have something i need to discuss.”

he stops and he states before turning around. there’s a look on his face that you don’t recognize. impatience, maybe? he raises his brows expectantly and it only pisses you off further.

”okay, dude, what is your problem with me?” you can’t help the bite in your tone. “like, since first year, you’ve had this unspoken issue with me. and i tried to be nice, don’t get me wrong. but you just absolutely refuse to reciprocate. so, please, just tell me what i did wrong so i can apologize and we can stop this feud we’ve had for three fucking years.”

the outburst surprises him, and it even surprises you a little bit. his mouth opens and closes, like he can’t decide what to say. finally, he squares his jaw and shakes his head. “i have no idea what you’re talking about.”

your jaw drops. he starts to turn, and your first instinct is to drop your crutches and hobble over to him before he can walk away. you grab his arm and spin him around. “don’t play stupid, sugawara. today, when you were sitting on the bleachers, you were glaring at me. like- like i’d killed your puppy or something! and first year, in that stupid photography class, you stood up in front of the whole class and told the teacher you didn’t want to be my partner.” you pause, chest heaving. “do you know how embarrassing that was? how much i got teased for it? you’re nice to everyone you meet—except for me. don’t pretend you don’t hate me now that i’ve confronted you about it.”

for a long, stretched out moment, he’s quiet, staring into your eyes like he’s searching for something.

”well?” you prompt, brows furrowing in frustration.

“i don’t hate you,” he says quietly. his eyes dart away from yours and suddenly he’s embarrassed. “i don’t hate you, i-“ he cuts himself off, rolling his eyes. “whatever, this is ridiculous. i don’t hate you, okay? there, feud over.”

”don’t give me that bullshit, sugawara.”

”what do you want from me? do you want me to apologize? do you want me to drop to my knees and beg for forgiveness?” he rips his arm out of your grasp and his gaze hardens. “you piss me off. that’s the story. that’s why i have beef with you. first year, when we got sat next to each other, you pissed me off. when the teacher said we were partners, i knew you’d distract me and piss me off. is that better? there is no specific reason, you just make me mad.”

you blink. once. twice. three times. “are you fucking kidding me? what, it’s just my presence? the way i smile? the way i make small talk?” you scoff and cross your arms. “you’re fucking ridiculous.”

”yes,” he huffs out. your brows furrow again, this time in confusion. “it’s the way you smile, it’s the way you make small talk, it’s the way you carry yourself, it’s the way you’re too nice to people even though they don’t deserve it.” he takes a step forward, closing the distance between the two of you. “i hate it. every time i see you, i get this pit in my stomach. i avoid you in the hallway because every time i see you, i get the urge to talk to you. to tell you to stop smiling at people. to tell you to pull down your skirt because other guys are looking. you think this is ridiculous? i’ve had a thing for you since the first time i saw you and the only way i can deal with it is by being a massive dickhead to you.”

again, all you can do is blink at him. what is this, a rom-com? he can’t just confess in the middle of an argument like that—also, how did he know angry confessions are your favorite trope?

”what the hell are you talking about”

he sighs, heavy and long. “nevermind.” he shakes his head, then steps around you to pick up your crutches once again. he hands them to you silently, then continues past you, towards the exit. 

he leaves you standing there in the middle of the hallway, face scrunched up, jaw dropped, a million thoughts running through your mind.

CHRISTMAUS 2024 SUBMISSIONS

Today I am proud to announce ChristmAUs 2024! As you may have seen earlier, I have taken the reigns of ChristmAUs from @fmsdraws / @ut-poppy-askblog (with his permission). Unfortunately, I can not make a game like ChristmAUs 2023 (which you should really play Link here)! However, I do have a big plan for ChristmAUs 2024, and that plan is: Animated Christmas Card!

That's right! Unlike most of the other ChristmAUs collabs, this one shall be animated! Give your AU characters animations to bring them to life for all to see! Of course, animation is a hard, time consuming process. But with over 2 months to work, and with the simple rules on how the characters should be animated, it shouldn't be too difficult to get your character in in time!

RULES: *Submissions are open until Sunday, December 8th, 12 AM! Meaning that they are open through out December 7th and then they close! *Submissions must be in the style of Undertale and Deltarune! *No limit on the amount of characters you can submit, but I may ask you to slow down if I feel you are submitting too many. *The AU character(s) you submit must come from a publicly revealed AU that must have some content behind them other then this ChristmAUs. This includes: Art, Audio, Comic, Animation, Photography, Game, Sprites, Written Sources, or any combination of them. *No content that would be 18+. This is a family-friendly ChristmAUs! *No content that would be harmful or hurtful to anyone. ChristmAUs should be a joyous time, and hate and harm have no place in it. *No content that would violate the TOS of the majority of websites, including Youtube, Reddit and Tumblr. *You must have permission to submit the character, if you did not create them yourself! (UT and DR canon characters excluded; just link UT or DR for them.) Submission Rules: 1: Make sure you've read all the rules! 2: Give your Handle; how you want to be credited in the public. Excerpt

“It’s not just about the subversion, Steve,” Robin declares as she does inscrutable things to her camera. “It’s also a love letter.”

“A love letter,” he repeats flatly. There’s cold tile under his bare ass and the window at his back isn’t any better. “You don’t love men, though.”

Robin peers through the camera and then stands up, coming over to mess with his hair. He’s glad they’re pretty used to each other, or having her this close while he’s naked would be... weird. It’s not like he’s excited, or worried about that, even if he’s trying not to think about the exhibitionist thrill he’s getting out of... well. Getting his picture taken like this. Modeling.

“Not that kind of love,” she mutters, distracted as she turns his head. “There. Don’t move, the light looks perfect.”

He’s not sure what makes the light more perfect with his head turned an inch further the right than it was, but he lets her do her thing. At least the Garfield mug covering his dick has warmed up to his body heat.

“Okay, now hold up the teapot like you’re offering to fill a cup,” Robin says, back behind the camera.

Steve gives her a warm smile—not even fake, not really—and holds the Garfield teapot up.

It’s a funny thing, kitschy. Eddie was reluctant to let them borrow it, and when he sees what they did to his mug Steve’s pretty sure he’s not going to forgive them, but... he’ll buy him a new one if he has to. Robin says it’ll be fine, that Eddie’s queer enough to appreciate sacrificing for art, or something. Steve secretly thinks she’s implying he’d like drinking out of a mug that had a dick in it.

“Great, okay, give your arm a break,” Robin says. “I don’t know if I got it. You look like you’re going to laugh.”

“Should I be more serious?” Steve asks, twisting his mouth around until he gets the smile out, letting it melt from his face.

“Yeah, let’s try that.”

Baldur's Gate 3 Companion Head Canon Filmmaker Edition

Depending on your crew, filmset can be the best time or the worst time of your life!  While kicking back and playing Baldur’s Gate I started to wonder what kind of positions would the gang assume on a filmset.

Here is my personal HeadCanon for the tadfools (+ Jaheira, Halsin, the Dead Three and Withers) if they were to be on a film set.

Astarion | Costume 

Of course Astarion would be in charge of the costume department! Not only because he can sew and design the best costumes with utmost skill, if you provide him with nothing but rags, but also because he would make sure the actors are always decent and taken care of. End of a risqué scene? Boom, he is already there with a robe, some blankets and a water bottle. “Let’s take you back to the changing room darling!"

Besides he is very fast and stealthy which would be a perfect time saver for in between takes: last minute check and tweak before we start rolling? Watch him dash to unwrinkle fabrics or refasten pins: 0 second lost.

Shadowheart | Production Design

Shadowheart would love to be in charge of the decor. Already in pre-production she would have a blast skimming flea markets and brocantes to find props and elements to create the perfect set, although she would probably be able to craft it from scratch if needed be, and could create an atmosphere with nothing but cardboard if she had to. She would keep track of all the props and organize them in a neat fashion. She would be so focused there is no chance you would end up with a continuity error (not in her department anyways!).

Karlach | Light Technician

Karlach has a light crew vibe to herself. She would run around rolling and unrolling cables, carrying and setting up C stands, activating generators, going as far as powering them herself if she has to. Watch her set up the lights and filters like it's nobody’s business. Sandbags? No worries she can carry 20 at a time. She can hold a reflective panel above her head for hours without breaking a sweat. Friendly and motivated, she is a wonder to work with and the camera crew has no issues communicating and coordinating with her. Tell her what needs to be lit and she will make sure it is. Let there be light!

Wyll | Acting

The charisma, these dance skills, the whole blade of frontier performance that radiates main character energy? You cannot convince me Wyll is not born to stand under the spotlight or in front of the cameras. At the beginning of his carrier had a preference for theater but he prefers cinema because it gives him the opportunity to do several takes and indulge his perfectionist side. He would be on set early to rehearse and he would be an absolute treasure to the rest of the crew. Very talented and humble, the best actor to work with!

Gale | Director of Photography

I will not budge: Gale would be in charge of the imagery. What angle, what move, what ratio, what color? He'd know what’s best to tell the story and his composition would always be on point. He’s got 10 different lenses, he made the shotlist six months before the shoot and he went on all the location scouting rekkie, even the ones he did not have to attend. He also checked the location at different hours to have a look at the natural light change through the day. He is very patient with his assistants and with the lighting crew which he would always give a hand to set up the lamps (literally thanks to the old mage hand). Don’t touch his camera though, he will fight you.

Lae’zel | First Assistant Director

“Ok, we have a schedule and we have to make sure we respect it. How much time do you need to build this scene? 10 minutes? Do it in 5!”. Lae’zel would be such an efficient first AD but she also would become the scapegoat of the set because of how demanding and blunt she would be. She doesn't mind and she knows its a status that often comes with the job. At the end of the day, everyone would get to leave on time though (or barely a few hours of overtime) and everyone would be grateful for it. You can and you will have a drink with her afterwards and all will be forgiven.

Halsin | Safety Coordinator

Obviously, Halsin would be in charge of safety; because film is fun and should remain fun, no matter how serious it is for some: nobody is getting hurt on his watch! 

Intense traumatic scene with an actor? He will be a perfect intimacy coordinator: he knows how to handle personal space and aftercare. Tricky stunt? He’s got a first-aid kit ready (not that you will need it as he made sure all equipment necessary for the stunt are secure). Animal Handling? Yes, he got that covered too, the creatures will be treated as royalty and he can even shape shift to keep them company. Child actor on set? Did he mention he can take care of that too? Beyond all this he will make sure everyone in general is keeping healthy, calling for breaks, making sure everyone has enough to drink and/or eat which he will remind the whole crew to do because they tend to forget.

Minthara | Production Manager

Yes, Minthara has arranged the location, the catering, the shooting authorization and pretty much all the rentals that you need for the day. You better be on time on her set: the call sheet is precise and so should you. She will make sure everything that has been arranged will proceed as expected but should the unexpected occur last minute? Well that’s not a problem because she is cool as ice and can perform under pressure like none. There, she fixed it, and with an hour to spare. After the production, she will chase you and spam 3 reminders a day for you to send your invoice and receipts (she gotta book everything for the accountant!).

Jaheira | Location Manager

Jaheira is the first and the last on set. She gets the keys to places, she relays the instructions on where to find what, what is off limits and what can or cannot be used.  She will make sure everyone parks at the right spots, that people that are outside of sets are not hindered by your crew, and that the place is given back clean (or cleaner even). She is always very sweet to the person in contact, be it the owner of the location you're shooting at, the caterer or curious bystanders who come to investigate. She also keeps an eye on the carpooling schedule. Nobody will be forgotten on her watch.

Minsc | Boom Operator

Minsc is in charge of taking sound. He listens carefully to every take to make sure there are no parasites or interference; if he doubts he will ask Boo to double check for him. He will mic up the actor very gently, giving them funny lines to say to test the mic. He finds it hilarious to call out farts when he hears them in his headphones; he will then ask loudly who it was. Often it is himself.

Tav | Writer/Director

It is their story and you better believe they will see it through. They wrote the damn thing, they gathered the right crew and they will direct it all. They call the shots and make the decisions. At the end of the day they call action and cut. Whether it is a happy or bad ending, the story will have 3 to 5 acts and it will be sent out to all the A list festivals of Toril.

Durge | Director/Producer

It is their story too but they did not write it, however they did make sure it was possible to make it by any means necessary! They are in charge and they even have a cap and a chair to prove it. They had a megaphone too at some point but it was misplaced (stolen by Astarion who got fed up with all the yelling).

The Dead Three | Executive producer

These three are power hungry, ruthless and bloodthirsty, of course they are producers! They know where the money is, they know how to get it, they know who to play and sweet talk to get it. Orin tends to be more artistically involved in the project but Gortash has the people’s touch and will be in charge of handling communication and distribution. Ketheric will make sure the money gets where it needs to go and will be in contact with the subsidies and fundings to provide reports and deliverables.

Withers | Storyboard

It is Tav and Durge’s story but Withers illustrated it. Visualization goes a long way for the whole crew and it is nice to have something to fall back on when the chaos of the shot list overwhelms you. Thanks Boneman!

Sighing to himself, Yang Jungwon opened the doors to MidTown Science High School.

It was about 10 minutes until school started, but just like every other day, the hallways were crowded as ever. Students all around Jungwon were talking to their friends as if they hadn’t seen them in years (when, in fact, it was a Thursday. They likely saw each other yesterday).

Jungwon chewed on his lip while the words of the surrounding students just blurred into indecipherable speech. Earphones would be a good solution to this, the highschool noise was nearly unbearable. If only Jungwon hadn’t forgotten his earphones.

His Aunt May always warned him that every time he was late, he would forget something. More often than not, it was his earphones. It was Karma, he supposed.

Once at his locker, he opened it to find a note on the outside saying, “FIND ME DURING STUDY HALL - KSN”. 

Kim Sunoo, Jungwon’s best friend since their awkward days in middle school, likely had something to discuss about colleges or MIT or anything similar.

Suddenly, Jungwon heard a laugh that cut through the blur of high school chit-chat, distracting him from the note in the palm of his hand. He immediately recognized the laugh to be yours, finding you standing with Nishimura Riki, someone that Jungwon knew liked you.

But then again, who didn’t like you? Even Jungwon himself was victim to your charm, having found himself very fond of you ever since you praised his photography skills. You were class president, participated in school clubs and activities, had good grades, a nice personality, and you weren’t bad to look at either.

Popularity came naturally to you. However, surprisingly, you mostly kept to your small bubble of friends. Those friends consisted of Nishimura himself, a senior named Park Sunghoon, and another senior, Valerie — better known by her nickname, Val — Jung.

Riki swung his arms around your shoulder and you somehow, miraculously to Jungwon himself, made eye contact with Jungwon from down the hall and gave him a half-smile before being pulled away by your other friends.

Some Haley headcanons (with some farmer girl x Haley mixed in cuz why not)

🌻I mean this one is kinda canon but Haley and Emily have very emotionally negligent parents. Haley and Emily’s grandma took care of them from when they were small to teenagers.

🌻When Haleys grandma passed away, it was especially hard on her. Her grades in high school slipped and she almost didn’t graduate.

🌻Haley is also very interested in art, ontop of photography. She took quite a few art classes in school and takes a couple lessons from Leah here and there.

🌻She wears contacts, she does have glasses but most people don’t know that because she only wears them around the house. They have pink clear rims.

🌻When her and the farmer are dating, she loves to write them handwritten notes, she also puts lipstick stains on the page and sprays the paper with a bit of her perfume. 💕

🌻She keeps all her Polaroids in a shoe box in her closet, she rotates them on a gallery wall in her room. She looks at them when she’s feeling down.

🌻Despite her “confident mean girl” demeanor, she gets really anxious and giddy when her and the farmer have their first date.

🌻Her hair is naturally pretty curly, it gets really frizzy/crazy in the morning, but she’s got a pretty flawless hair routine.

🌻She has friends in the city that she goes and sees a lot.

🌻Haley works at the ice cream stand in the summer with Alex, girls gotta get money to buy all those clothes/makeup somehow.

Someone asked in the tags of my post for my Nicole headcanons so! This is... extremely mean girls trio heavy lmao, I see her as fourth piece of the puzzle. The DLC to a completed game.

Nicole is really fun for me to think about because she's a mover for some of the teens' drama but she doesn't just disappear after that scene, she's there the next day when they graffiti the movie theater. I don't think that she's as close to the mean girl trio as they are with each other, but she's definitely a lot closer to them than anyone else is.

She often got invited along on "double dates" with the trio. Normally when Steve wasn't dating anyone, but also sometimes even then because they enjoyed hanging out as a quartet that much.

Steve and Nicole never really dated, but they probably hooked up at least once. Nothing serious though. They have known each other for a while though because their parents do business together. So they're each other's standing dates for a lot of things.

Canon adjacently, I think they probably went to prom together. Nicole is the only one that Steve still talks too after the fight and blowout lmao.

Nicole often tags along to "save Steve from third wheeling" but I'm a Carol and Steve were friends first truther, so Tommy also ends up third wheeling a lot. So I think that Tommy kind of considers Nicole his best friend other than Steve. They hang out a lot on their own when Starol are wrapped up in Starol things.

@meangirlstobin suggested they go bowling together and are actually both really good at it.

Tommy and Nicole study together a lot too. Carol doesn't really care about school or studying, and Steve finds it boring and so only joins them when he needs to cram for a test.

Nicole has the most common sense of the group, and definitely is considered the most "normal" of the friend group.

@stregoniconiconii said she'd be the lawyer friend and honestly that's canon to me now. I think she's gonna go to school for law.

She's one of the school's main student photographers. (Jonathan definitely isn't doing that lmao) She puts more of her energy into yearbook, but does photography for the student newspaper as well.

She's not quite as into partying quite as much as the others, enjoys a quiet night at home way more. (Is probably a bit introverted - needs time to decompress from their crazy.) She does hang out with them sometimes but it's not an every weekend sort of deal.

i don't have much of my own art bc i'm still re/learning how to draw but this is a recent one i did of frost :] (genderfluid, gay, he/they)

frost is my bloodborne hunter buuuuut i have also thrown them into pathologic for shits & giggles. and sometimes i dick around with them in a modern setting where they remember bloodborne & pathologic as past lives. which is complicated by them having bipolar disorder (it is not an OR IS IT??? type situation it's literally both).

i'm trying to write a longfic for them for bloodborne but uh. i'm writing the boring bits and thinking. now why the hell am i writing all this. i have actually published fic of them in bloodborne (here) and patho (here). frost is the oc/canon guy, he has a friends -> lovers -> enemies -> ??? relationship w alfred. my problematic oc/canon ship. anyway in bloodborne 'verse frost is in yharnam to try and "fix" his bipolar disorder by any means necessary but as the night goes on his episode gets worse to a point where he's just kind of like fuuuuuuuuck it this is fine actually. i can be a little crazy as a treat.

and then in 'patho verse he's a utopian (cringe!) (makes sense thematically if you know bloodborne) and he's working with the kains, initially came over as a tutor for khan & maria but is actually kind of a living science experiment for the kains. i've gone through many different iterations of a "what are they doing with him?" but i think there's a lot of things they'd test, like "can a soul inhabit a focus without the body dying? let's find out!" and in return the kains are setting up to take care of his sister fox (@gemteeth)'s oc candra. he's friends with yulia but he cannot stand the stamatins and especially andrey. he's also a maria defender but not in a #girlboss way but in a "she is so young and has so many responsibilities please give her some empathy" kind of way. [i also borrowed alfred for this au because humble!alfred is so fucking hilarious to me.]

she's semi-verbal. my buddy dj has drawn her for me quite a bit :] sometimes she's a twin or little sister to one of his ocs. sometimes she's a little half-sister to fox's ocs ksana and inisa her special interest is bugs & insects and her favorite kind are grasshoppers & crickets. she is very friendly and sociable. she doesn't have any enemies but she isn't fond of vlad jr (it's the facial hair). she also probably wouldn't like mark although other than 'looks too much like the cheshire cat when he smiles' i cant think of why.

she does occasionally get bullied but since her parents are artemy & daniil like. how much can you really bully the only doctor and surgeon in town. their uncle is rubin. do you want to piss them off? no. and anyway someone (i'll leave it up to the imagination who) taught them that if someone does something to you that you don't like, you defend yourself. so the one time a boy tries to kiss them they just slug him. love that for them!!!

the important thing to know about buzzy (he/him) is that he is a, the spitting image of daniil but fat, and b, INCREDIBLY anxious. he's agender aroace and his special interest is in technology, especially as it pertains to film and photography. (so the year update of 1924 is sooooo good you know when he heard about man with a movie camera he flipped his lid!!!!) (you should watch man w a movie camera it's v cool. to me. i like old films.)

also he's named buzzy because murky & sticky demanded they get to choose a baby name and they wanted a name that ended in y like theirs. so buzzy is indeed his legal name.

duunai (trans girl, she/her) is bix3 [bilingual bisexual bipolar]. she got both parents' sense of humor so you KNOW she is in trouble allll the time. she grows up to be a menkhu. she was the last one i came up with so i'm still developing her.

What’s your opinion of popular Batman fanon tropes like pit madness or Tim being a coffee addict? I’m not a pit madness fan because I think it’s problematic and excuses abuse but I do love Tim having a passion for photography and stuff like that! What’s your opinion :)

Wow I really didn’t realize people would actually ask me things and so I never actually checked my inbox 😓

Personally I’m no stickler for canon, but how much I enjoy a fandom trope is depends entirely on how well it’s used in fic/art. I’ve read great fic that uses fanon tropes in really interesting and unique ways (or just explores the ramifications of a trope in a deep way). I’ve also seen people who really like to adhere to canon and seen great stuff from them.

I think it’s totally fair (and necessary) criticize fanon tropes for perpetuating problematic ideas, but I also think that there are often ways to write these tropes in nuanced and meaningful ways

For example: I 100% agree with the criticism that the historical retcon and fanon depiction of Jason Todd’s parents criminal, drug addicts, and inherently abusive leans into EXTREMELY classist and pro-incarceration beliefs that I simply will not stand for.

But… I also think there should a place for Jason fics that DO discuss parental abuse, addiction, and the incarceration of family members. ESPECIALLY for fics that are willing to confront the complicated emotions and dynamics this can cause, especially for a child.

The same goes for Tim and fanon depictions of abuse/neglect within wealth and privilege.

The reality is that all of those topics are experiences that DO HAPPEN to real people. They shouldn’t be excluded entirely from art or written off as inherently problematic interpretations without evidence.

I would hope, however, that writers and readers think critically about how any tropes, fanon, or canon for that matter, are being used. I also think that people should avoid using them as “easy” excuses, or sticking to stereotypical depictions of certain topics. Remember that addicts and incarcerated people are not evil or unloving, that abuse is often way more complicated and insidious than simply hating your child or partner, and that victims don’t always react in ways that make sense to others or that society deems acceptable.

And for fucks sake don’t assume that fanon interpretations are inherently shallow or that adhering strictly to canon is inherently better. (And obviously don’t read anything that you think might trigger or have a negative effect on you, or that you just won’t enjoy!)

This became a long rant and a bit preachy, but it’s something I’ve been thinking about for a long time.

Cameron Parish, LA 5/06

Two photos taken a minute or so apart, standing in the middle of Louisiana route 82, between Holly Beach and Cameron, spring 2006. I was still primarily a film photographer, but I started making digital doubles with a first generation Canon Rebel. I was also still developing my film manually at a now defunct public darkroom that popped up in New Orleans in the new year after Hurricane Katrina, or sometimes at home in the bathtub. This was the first time I saw Cameron Parish, and I was mesmerized by the skies, the silence, and the solitude of the place. The Canon Rebel was pretty good for being an early digital camera; the problem was the software of the time wasn't good enough to "see" all the info in the digital files. Modern photo software is now able to see with much greater detail and subtlety, allowing a much better "print" to be rendered, as close as possible to what I remember seeing, as well as being a Louisianan long enough to know the tones of a spring morning sky here. There was a tendency in processing of early digital photography to make everything look hyper-real. Today, processing these older files with modern software allows for a more realistic and detailed look into a somewhat distant mirror.

The film used was Kodak Plus-X Pan 125 -- a film I sure do miss. Most of the negatives I made with this film and my Canon F1N just got the tones right in a way I was always happy with, using Kodak D-76 developer. The film has been discontinued for unknown reasons, and the now-standard Kodak TMax 100 looks dull to me in comparison.

I'm a little disappointed in Amai's current week since her 'challenge' was much more fun! So I thought I'd redesign her week a little bit. She will meet Taeko on a nearby bench, looking upset! She will check up on her to ask whats wrong and learn that Taeko had lost a good friend of hers(Kokona). Amai will try to cheer her up. This will cause Taeko to gain a new friend, much to Ayano's dismay... Though Amai only wants to be friends with Taeko, the Informast will gaslight Ayano to see her as 'a threat'. So! Here is how I will see her week! THE WEEK:

During Amai's week, a bake sale will be running! The sale will be raising money to help Amai's family bakery from going out of business. It will be a little bit bigger than the real thing. Stands will be in the middle area of the school, which will make it more populated. On Friday, there will be a bake off! Students who aren't part of the cooking club can also join! The faculty will be judging the cooking. The incinerator will also be shut down during the week!

UNIQUE ELIMINATIONS: Poisoning-It would be interesting too! You need to put lethal poison in Amai's, or the whole club's, cooking after they put it out. Chef's taste their food before serving, so you can either poison Amai or a random student, framing her for murder. Gas Leaks-Basically her elimination on Thursday Oven Accident-On Friday, Amai will try to bake the best pastry she's ever made for the Bake off! She'll use the oven in the cooking club since she wants nobody to steal her idea. While she's opening the oven to check her batter you can push her in the oven and close it. This can also be an option to bake her into your own meal for the competition, like a meat loaf or something! Boiled Alive-You need to join the cooking club for this! On Friday, you can make your own meal for the competition! In the cooking club room, grab a pot and fill it with water. Boil it on the stove. Ask Amai for a favor to follow you into the club. Then, you can shove her face into the boiling water to kill her! Her screams will attract nearby students though.

CANON ELIMINATION: Anything lethal! I think the last three options would work best! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

KIZANA SUNOBU

My favorite rival!! I'm so excited for her week! Taeko will meet Kizana outside of a local theater. Taeko will be walking along the street sadly, bumping into Kizana. The indrocution will happen, like the canon one, where Kizana inspires Taeko to use her sadness for creativity. Then, she will unofficially cast her as the lead role for Romeo in the upcoming school play! Kizana is absolutely in love with Taeko's beauty and character, much to Ayano's dismay. After the play, Kizana will confess her feelings to her in a dramatic fashion underneath the cherry tree. THE WEEK: During Kizana's week, the Drama club will be practicing in the school gym. The sports club will no longer warm up, since chairs will be in their way, so they'll warm up outside. The Photography club will sometimes stop by, much like last week, to capture photos for the school website. On Friday, the play will take place after cleaning time, so the meeting for club leaders will take place thursday. Kizana will also wear different hairstyles during each day of the week. UNIQUE ELIMINATIONS: Sandbag-A boring yet classic idea. You will walk on the top of the stage, cut the rope, and watch the sandbag fall on kizana. Acid Makeup-A fun idea I saw once on tumblr(can't find it, but credits to whoever made it!). In the chemistry lab, you will need to make a chemical equation for burning acid. On Friday, put the acid in Kizana's makeup. Once she walks onstage, her makeup and face will melt onto the stage Humiliation-Basically humiliating Kizana on stage. This will cause her to switch schools. I was thinking it could be like a carrie situation. Put blood(faking it as animal blood), paint, or gasoline in a bucket and walk on the bridge above the stage. Once Kizana's on stage, pour the contents over her. This will cause many students to laugh and points at her. The bullies will take pictures and post about it on social media. Driven to Murder-This involve Kizana. Over the week, Kizana will bully and humiliate Kokona for stealing her unique style(purple hair, drills, following her around) even though Kokona admires her. Gossip to Kizana, lying to her about how Kokona will do something bad to get the lead role. This will cause Kizana to freak out and humiliate Kokona in front of a bunch of people(Not Taeko). Kokona will feel horrible an try to seclude herself, leaving the Drama club. You can convince Kokona to kill Kizana during the play, which everyone will see. Humiliation 2-Basically Driven to Murder, except Taeko sees the true Kizana . Taeko will discipline Kizana, saying she's a horrible person and that bullying is not okay. Taeko will quit the Drama club, no longer talking to Kizana. This will leave Kizana heartbroken. The play will go on Friday, except Tsuzuru will be Romeo CANON ELIMINATION: Again, anything lethal! Now casting that aside, what do you think a modern version of the Una family would be like? Minus the stands, the mafia and dead parents yk? Like, would Trish still be somehow friends with the Bucci gang and such?

Also for the question! Modern, standless or not, I can't see Diavolo becoming anything but a mob boss. He's a cruel coward with one he'll of a ballooned ego. He demands to be on top and be powerful, but doesn't want to go about it cleanly (so no CEO/government position.) Though because he doesn't have a convenient partner he can use as his camo (dopi) he's forced to be more involved in Passione. Diavolo goes by Naso for longer, and only really becomes a shut in when his face gets leaked/or some other security risk. His paranoia shoots up 100%

Doppio gets to have more desires though, since he isn't as leashed to Diavolo. It allows him to be closer to Donatella than in canon, and actually build a relationship beyond making Trish. And because he and Diavolo are so intertwined, Diavolo ends up getting dragged along to meeting Donatella and becoming obsessed with her as well. I hc Doppio enjoys photography and is always documenting Donatella and later Trish. (Diavolo only allows him private body shots if Donatella asks.) Diavolo is the one who would like to sail and be isolated at sea.

Though I suppose if I did invest in a completely domestic au, I'd say Donatella would end up being the families lead. She knows what she wants and can be as pushy as Diavolo when it comes to leading a the life of her desires.

Doppio is such a puppy, he is happy to follow his partners, wherever that takes him. while Diavolo is more begrudging. Still, he grows to become as indulgent wirh her as he is Doppio. Showering only them with kindness and gift. In return they fuel his ego and his own status, in his mind. Having doppio be subservient to him, and being able to please a woman as gorgeous and demanding as Donatella. He feels powerful with them, even if he ends up living a more simple life than he would have preferred.

AS FOR TRISH!! Modern au with mob, she would still be escorted by them and grow close. Post VA she keeps in contact with them, but hides it from her fathers. (More about Modern au post VA in one of my mini comics)

Without the mob though, she would still eventually meet them, but through Bruno not pericollo! Without the mob he stays a fisherman, and him and Diavolo end up having beef still (Idk maybe diavolo leaves the bay too quick and scratches the shit out of his boat 🤷‍♂️) whatsver happens, Trish is getting embarrassed by her dad's and ends up gaining Brunos sympathy. When he finds out she's kinda awesome, he introduces her to his found fam. The rest is history. (Diavolo acts very betrayed, Doppio does the same around Diavolo, but more privately tells her he's happy she's making friends. Donatella is pleased from the start and greatly enjoys seeing Diavolo rattled.)
