Was forced to watch a truly incredible (derogatory) thing recently.

A young person on twitter, adamant that transandrophobia doesn't exist on the grounds that 'no one is killing/raping/assaulting trans men'.

Several people responded, including some linking articles about murders and assaults on trans men and a couple op-ed style pieces of trans men talking about their own experiences.

Said young person responded with "I'm not reading those its triggering and I'm a minor"

So let me see if I've got this correct, you are knowingly refuse to acknowledge reality because it's upsetting to you and then you're going to turn around and deny that very reality because you refuse to acknowledge it because it's upsetting?

today my professor was talking about gender and the way kids are raised in society and he brought up kingdom hearts as an example of an unusual piece of media for its time that was seemingly meant to be appealing to both boys & girls and to both adults & kids (presumably cuz like it’s got the anime stuff and the disney stuff and you go through all sorts of different genres and it’s both whimsical and serious) i was like totally zoning out but i snapped awake when he mentioned that lol

I think what frustrates me about Natalie's statement is the sheer cynicism of it. She, of course, is entitled to feel cynical and doomed about the political situation and circumstances she exists under, but I feel like that's actively clouding her judgment.

Just because a cause may seem doomed does not mean we do nothing against it. We know that protests only do so much, but they do more than nothing, and far more than the harm she posits they impose. Speaking up and noting that genocide is wrong, and that it is wrong to support those wishing to perpetuate it, is important. Will that alone shift the stances of the United States government? Of course not. But in her cynicism she fails to see that people caring is one of the steps towards shifting that stance.

I, like her, am tired of moral victories and would like actual victories - like the one we got in Zohran winning the primary. But that does not mean we need to discredit the work being done to try and do something to make the world we live in better even if it's through mechanisms that she doesn't like. Even if it only helps one person at a time.

Don’t get me wrong I dislike how Mercedes manages their drivers and think Toto sucks. Like the upper management of the team is terrible, and I am not ignoring the strategic blunders that they have made over the years. Also I do know why people are upset with the outcome of the race. But seeing as how in the last 5 races Lewis has been on the podium 4 times, and at the beginning of the season Mercedes were in the trenches with low point scoring finishes, I’m happy about the progress that they have made. Because it benefits Lewis first and foremost. Now I will not be surprised if he puts himself first and foremost and doesn’t relent with strategies. As in, he’s gonna be calling his own shots instead of just listening to the pitfall.

i recommend. Personally. watching international court cases and being in a removed part of your brain fucking terrified and horrified while you try and remain focused on the facts in the front of your mind so that you can know what the fuck is going on. and then letting that stew to make a list of things you find suspicious or dubious. also recommend then watching a bunch of philosophy all night and going hm fair point and well no i don't think that's true. and then doing the writing three pages thing your good friend suggested to you. and knowing your own naivete intimately. and then i recommend grabbing the a3 newsprint block so that you may make some inconsequential art. which inevitably will help you think. and then i recommend writing again to find out what you think. happy monday guys
