Was forced to watch a truly incredible (derogatory) thing recently.

A young person on twitter, adamant that transandrophobia doesn't exist on the grounds that 'no one is killing/raping/assaulting trans men'.

Several people responded, including some linking articles about murders and assaults on trans men and a couple op-ed style pieces of trans men talking about their own experiences.

Said young person responded with "I'm not reading those its triggering and I'm a minor"

So let me see if I've got this correct, you are knowingly refuse to acknowledge reality because it's upsetting to you and then you're going to turn around and deny that very reality because you refuse to acknowledge it because it's upsetting?

#like I'm sorry but willful ignorance is not a winning argument?#transandrophobia #its things like this that really have me convinced that we're never actually going to fix this shit #i was talking to the woman who runs the lgbt center i was going to #shes been running it in some capacity for about 30 years now #and she was saying that ever since they reopened after covid they have a problem getting people to keep coming #and its mostly because young people will come a few times and then something makes them uncomfortable and they never come back #but the things that make them uncomfortable are things like 'a homeless kid came to get a shower and a meal'#or 'the donated instruments in the music room arent good enough quality and they dont want to use poor people instruments'#those are both real examples btw #i hate to be the one to say it #but you cannot form community if you refuse to be uncomfortable sometimes #op

today my professor was talking about gender and the way kids are raised in society and he brought up kingdom hearts as an example of an unusual piece of media for its time that was seemingly meant to be appealing to both boys & girls and to both adults & kids (presumably cuz like it’s got the anime stuff and the disney stuff and you go through all sorts of different genres and it’s both whimsical and serious) i was like totally zoning out but i snapped awake when he mentioned that lol

Don’t get me wrong I dislike how Mercedes manages their drivers and think Toto sucks. Like the upper management of the team is terrible, and I am not ignoring the strategic blunders that they have made over the years. Also I do know why people are upset with the outcome of the race. But seeing as how in the last 5 races Lewis has been on the podium 4 times, and at the beginning of the season Mercedes were in the trenches with low point scoring finishes, I’m happy about the progress that they have made. Because it benefits Lewis first and foremost. Now I will not be surprised if he puts himself first and foremost and doesn’t relent with strategies. As in, he’s gonna be calling his own shots instead of just listening to the pitfall.

i recommend. Personally. watching international court cases and being in a removed part of your brain fucking terrified and horrified while you try and remain focused on the facts in the front of your mind so that you can know what the fuck is going on. and then letting that stew to make a list of things you find suspicious or dubious. also recommend then watching a bunch of philosophy all night and going hm fair point and well no i don't think that's true. and then doing the writing three pages thing your good friend suggested to you. and knowing your own naivete intimately. and then i recommend grabbing the a3 newsprint block so that you may make some inconsequential art. which inevitably will help you think. and then i recommend writing again to find out what you think. happy monday guys

#i hope this doesnt sound flippant i truly mean this in the most sincere way possible. i think if we refuse to think or observe we cannot get #the justice sorely needed. and also someone mentioned that they think sa's case is a part of the anc (governing sa party) trying to win back #their credibility as arbiters of justice after being in power for thirty years without delivering on various promises. I know he got the most nominations, I know there is a good chance he will win, I still feel the need to campaign for him. Because if anyone really truly seriously deserves this win it's Scar. In my many years in fandom I have seen people go absolutely wild with making characters insanely hot. I have rarely seen it happen this MUCH, this EXTREME. You can not tell me that this silly minecraft builder doesn't spawn some of the most vile (/pos) fanart/fanfic in this fandom. He's out here bringing EVERYTHING that makes a sexyman to the table, he's a creature, a builder, a conman, a capitalist, the mayor, a superhero, just a guy, an artist, he's charming and thirsting for blood and diamonds and everything in between. Although I wouldn't necessarily consider Joe Hills to be a traditional tumblr sexyman, he has been campaigning so hard and honestly I gotta respect the grind. Also the campaign is one of the best and funniest things I have seen in a while, the blaze, the tumblr presence, the fanart, the getting killed by an anvil.
