it was mid-autumn festival recently and i wanted to take the opportunity to make dq characters share mooncake :')

ngl my plan was to elaborate on my headcanons for ancient del culture (aka before the shadowlord eroded Del over time) but i don't really have the energy so maybe i'll come back another time with my thoughts

but the short version is that the Topaz is their talisman, and its powers and traits are relative to the Del people. so in this instance, the importance of the moon to the Topaz's power is in parallel to its importance to the people. (what that means is up for interpretation. i have ideas but you may have others)

anyway maybe post-DQ3 they do a harvest festival, or maybe even dragon night itself, and people make some form of mooncake to share with loved ones <3

I don´t think that both (Ryan or Oliver) ever said that Buck and Eddie are just friends when they get asked about Buddie. They both talk around it, imply it, Ryan came close with confirming Eddie is straight but neither of them ever said "there is no romantic or sexual relationship between them and there are not plans, I know off, that there will be" It´s the politcians way of conducting interviews and it´s why I hardly read celebrity interviews. If you can´t answer questions based on canon then I don´t know why I should listen to you. I always hear that they can´t deny anything because they don´t know what will happen but that is such a cop out, I feel. They can focus on the present and say that Buck and Eddie are not in love with each other. That is canon at the moment. Yes, it may not shut up Buddies but it absolutely WILL shut up the interviewer in that moment. There is no room left to further any Buddie conversation when the interview subject straight up said NO

Ryan has said Eddie is straight multiple times, they’ve both talked about the importance of showing male friendship (specifically between a straight man and a queer man). Oliver explicitly stated he didn’t want to fall into the trope of “friend realizes he’s gay and falls for his best friend”. Oliver most recently stated that his character’s bisexuality has nothing to do with Eddie or Tommy.

They’ve both been to media training. They know if they said “never gonna happen, let it go for the love of God!!” They’d have so much shit to deal with it wouldn’t be worth it. They’d get death threats galore, and there would still be people saying “they’re lying cause they can’t tell the truth!! Buddie canon season 9!!” They’d be accused of queerbaiting (which already drove Oliver off twitter), and being homophobic (something that Lou has been accused of, which, like, seriously???)

It’s not that they haven’t said it’s not gonna happen, it’s that certain fans and journalists refuse to listen to what they are saying and believe everything has a hidden meaning when it, in fact, does not. 🤷🏻‍♀️

everytime i get miserable about missing them i just think about how they’re so much less active because they’re just on their computers way less because they aren’t forced to talk to each other through it anymore. they hang out in each others offices and have late night talks together about marriage and they embarrass sapnap in uber rides like they are just so much happier and you can physically see it on them too and i will take the silence over them both being so sad like they were before

thinking about the differences and similarities between aradia and dave and their doomed selves.......................... dave walking on a constant tightrope to keep himself and his friends on the alpha timeline, doing everything he can, giving up his personhood, walking over his own corpse time and time again, aware that one wrong move dooms them all meanwhile i know aradia was also aware of this but doesn't seem to care, partially cus of being a dead robot sure but also maybe because their doomed selves function in different ways. dave's act as a warning and safety net for the alpha timeline, they show him what he has to do to keep the alpha timeline safe aradia's are a tool, a weapon, the more of them there are the stronger she is which makes me think its likely that unlike dave, during the trolls session aradia didn't try and stop any doomed timeline offshoots. i don't think shes the type to have Encouraged them, actively dooming timelines, but it was a necessary part of her role. for them to win, they needed an army both aradia and dave also view the end result as the only important factor, the end justifies the means aradia talking to dead dave about how dave needs to be prepared to die a thousand deaths to complete their quest dave not telling jade that shes about to pump him full of lead both use it as an excuse/justification to do what they want in a way, ghost aradia wrecking random shit, but its fine, there's probably a reason for it, and if there's not, one more doomed timeline is just another doomed self to join the final battle dave's thing about being mad that no one else seems mad n how this way he at least gets to try n go for jack, even knowing hell die, he saw it happen so hes allowed to be reckless, hes allowed to let go the freedom and captivity of time you both have no control over anything, forced to follow the whims of The Alpha timeline if you want to survive, but it also absolves you of responsibility, it Had to happen this way we'd all have been doomed if it hadn't.
