Gay Thoughts on Cavalier!Elphaba and Bone Adept!Galinda Locked Tomb AU?

Pretty perky pink necromancer Galinda is bonking around my head

Ok Bone Adept Galinda and/or Reverend Daughter Galinda with Elphaba as her cavalier is kind of the concept of all time. I do have a tlt au swimming around in my brain but it involves Elphaba and Nessa as the ninth house cavalier and necromancer respectively. And Galinda as the crown princess of Ida, and they all meet at the lyctor trials. Flesh magician Galinda ... Another concept of all time. I present it for your consideration.

But I like your idea too! Putting gelphie in a necrocav situation is so deliciously angsty.

If Galinda is the Reverend Daughter fr I imagine the ninth house has a different aesthetic. Of course still skeletons everywhere but lots of white and muted pink/dark red and gold for their robes. Although the idea of her being born in another house, and then being sent to the ninth because she is a bone adept (somehow) and then her encountering All The Black and having to deal with that is also hilarious. She paints the skull on her face but wears pastels, she sticks out like a sore thumb but still charms everyone to let her get away with it.

Obviously she and Elphaba don't get along and absolutely hate being paired together. Obviously there is going to be homoerotic training together to the point they understand each other's fighting style so well the switch from "we're fighting each other" to "we're fighting WITH each other" is seamless.

They would absolutely breeze through Canaan House if only they got along, I imagine Elphie knows a lot about necromantic theory even as a cav. And speaking of cav!Elphie I imagine for her off-hand either the super cool sword breaker or the fabulous cape. Or perhaps both, and the cape is like her backup in case she gets disarmed or her primary off-hand breaks.

Anyway the path to actually being able to stand each other is bloody and long. Elphaba as the neglected outsider, Galinda as someone who has a lot of expectations on her shoulders. I don't think they grow up together, but they're still the only one that sees the other for what they truly are. They can be their real selves with each other, even when they hate each other. Galinda envies the sort of freedom Elphaba has, Elphaba envies how important Galinda is to everyone. Something something Elphaba breaks some bones while defending Galinda, Galinda sets them back perfectly. It's gay, obviously.

At one point they just stop being normal about each other and they make out and there's skull paint everywhere. Naturally.

I accidentally made them griddlehark with this enemies to collaborators to worse than lovers to (maybe?) lyctors bullshit but whatever sdjfhs

trick: okay, i am not gonna lie. literally as SOON as i got to the iconic and infamous SPLAT panel on my first read of that issue, i was like. my brain just immediately went.
