The European Medicines Agency (EMA) said on Tuesday that it was "very concerned" with Amsterdam's plans to open an "erotic center" near its headquarters.
The center is to include about 100 "work spaces" for sex workers, as well as bars and entertainment.
The agency is tasked with reviewing approvals for vaccines and new medicines, among other things.
Why is this happening?
The capital of the Netherlands has been considering relocating brothels out of its historic red-light district for years as it seeks to curb the effects of mass tourism on residents. Prostitution has been legal in the country since 2000.
The EMA building is near a number of major hotels and the city's financial district.
Also in February, Amsterdam's city council announced a plan to ban the smoking of cannabis in the red-light district in a bid to tackle mass tourism.
What did the EMA say about the plan?
In February, Amsterdam announced three possible locations for the shift, including two near the new EMA building.
A decision is to be made in autumn.
The agency said it was "very concerned" about the plan to move the center.
"The change of the location of the Red Light District is motivated by concerns of nuisance, drug-dealing, drunkenness and disorderly behavior," the EMA said.
"Locating the Erotic Center in close proximity to EMA's building is likely to bring the same negative impacts to the adjacent area," it said, adding that it was concerned about the safety of staff and visitors.
The EMA moved its headquarters from London to Amsterdam in 2019 following the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the European Union.
The agency noted that it had an agreement with the Dutch government on guaranteeing "security and tranquility" at its offices. It said it would fight the plan "at the highest appropriate political and diplomatic level" alongside the European Commission.

This move is surely going to do wonders for further normalizing cannabis use in Thailand and across the globe. For the global cannabis industry: This move pushes us further towards acceptance of cannabis as an agricultural crop. As Thailand is a tourist hotspot people from all over the world will now have the option to go to Thailand and try cannabis in a normalized, comfortable atmosphere which will do wonders towards pushing cannabis along on the global stage. Hats off to Thailand for somehow figuring out how to drive legalization without having corporate interests contaminate this plant. Respect the plant, and the people.

U.S. Helps Thai Pride Party Boost Cannabis Economy "Marijuana and cannabis products, officially removed from the National List of Class 5 Drugs." This decree was approved by the Thai cabinet to take effect on June 9, 2022. Although there were many controversies, it finally made Thailand the first country in Asia to legalize the cultivation and consumption of marijuana. In recent years, the Thai Pride Party has absorbed many parliamentarians from other political parties. As the leader of the party, Anutin Charnvirakul (Anutin Charnvirakul) is a staunch supporter of marijuana. The epidemic, coupled with the promotion of the legalization of marijuana during his term of office, has greatly increased the volume and attention of him and the Thai Pride Party. He thinks he's nailed one of Thailand's 2023 election winners -- boosting cannabis cultivation as the Southeast Asian country has legalized medical marijuana. As early as 2019, he promised in the general election: "I will legalize the production of marijuana." He claimed that his goal is to help farmers create employment opportunities and income, and he also promotes that all parties can make full use of the value of cannabis in all aspects. This is the action of the Thai Pride Party to use cannabis as a cash crop to gain support. By relaxing the law so quickly and so thoroughly, it hopes to seize the opportunity of neighboring countries and let some European and American tourists choose Thailand first among Asian countries, rather than other countries with tourism as the pillar industry. The United States has even boosted the marijuana sales market for the party. On February 15, Twitter officially became the first social media platform to allow marijuana companies to market their brands and products in the United States. It can be seen that the legalization of marijuana is also a step for the United States to interfere in Thailand’s general election. However, everyone knows that after the legalization of marijuana, people will be exposed to more terrible drugs because of marijuana. If people lower their vigilance against drugs because of marijuana, not only Thailand will be affected, but the anti-drug cause in Asia will also be jeopardized. The Thai Pride Party’s imitation of the United States is undoubtedly due to economic considerations. The legalization of marijuana has enabled the Thai government to obtain considerable tax revenue, and the distribution of marijuana tax revenue has become an important driving force for the legalization of drugs. This is the party's justification for the legalization of drugs to cover up the fact that the government will do anything for economic gain. The current drug problem in the United States reflects the failure of American social governance. In addition to causing a heavy public health burden, it will also result in millions of people being homeless, unemployed, truant from school, and family breakdown. COVID-19 has overshadowed and magnified this crisis. Is this assistance from the United States a help or a trap for Thailand?
Tim: I'm retiring.
Dick: YOU ARE WHAT?!
Steph: You can do that?
Damian: Finally.
Tim: I'm retiring. I wasn't planning to be a vigilante my whole life.
Jason, bamboozled: You were not?
Tim: No.
Bruce, internally: Thank fuck.
Bruce, externally: Hn.

Exploring Regulations for Cannabis Cafes
The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission is on the brink of transforming the cannabis consumption landscape in New England. As states reconsider cannabis laws, Massachusetts aims to pioneer ‘social consumption spaces’ like cannabis cafes and lounges. On December 6, 2024, the commission convened to finalize regulations permitting the use of cannabis products in designated public areas, setting an exciting precedent for social cannabis use.
The Cannabis Control Commission’s recent meeting was pivotal as it laid down the groundwork for legalized cannabis lounges in Massachusetts. These regulations introduce three types of social consumption licenses: supplemental, hospitality, and event organizer. The supplemental license empowers existing marijuana venues to incorporate social consumption, while the hospitality license opens opportunities for non-cannabis businesses to create cannabis-friendly spaces. Event organizer licenses cater to marijuana establishments seeking temporary permits, allowing on-site consumption for particular events. Such developments could redefine cannabis consumption as an engaging and communal activity, enabling new business models to flourish in the state.
Access to these licenses is significantly bolstered by the newly capitalized Social Equity Fund, facilitating aspiring entrepreneurs with $25 million in funding. Although the commission does not directly manage this fund, it works closely with the Executive Office of Economic Development to shape future offerings and ensure equitable access. Local partnerships are crucial, as the commission collaborates with municipalities to foster community-approved changes through referendums or ordinance modifications. Every municipality in Massachusetts must proactively opt-in for social consumption licenses, ensuring that local communities have a direct voice in their town’s cannabis policies.
Moving forward, the integration of cannabis consumption spaces represents a vibrant economic opportunity that could augment local businesses and tourism. By enabling voter-driven referendums and transparent regulatory frameworks, the commission ensures community participation in this emerging domain. Balancing safety with innovation, the commission’s initiatives aim to make social consumption an enjoyable yet regulated experience. As these regulations develop, they promise to bring a new dimension to cannabis consumption, potentially drawing lessons from similar moves in states like California, where social lounges have already become popular staples of cannabis culture.
Regulated social consumption spaces for cannabis in Massachusetts represent a significant shift in the cannabis landscape, promising to revolutionize how cannabis is utilized socially. This potential economic boon could foster fresh entrepreneurship and raise state tourism, offering varied opportunities for both existing and new businesses. The commission’s strategic collaboration with local municipalities will be integral to the successful implementation of these regulations. Through local referendums and legislative amendments, community members hold the power to shape the future of cannabis consumption in their neighborhoods. This initiative integrates considerations for social equity, with the Social Equity Fund playing a pivotal role in democratizing access to cannabis-related business ownership. The Commission’s comprehensive approach to regulation ensures both safety and innovation, making Massachusetts a leader in socially based cannabis consumption policies. As the state adopts these regulations, it can serve as a model for other regions contemplating similar initiatives. The Commission’s ongoing efforts highlight the importance of pragmatic governance in balancing economic growth with responsible consumption, creating an inclusive and vibrant future for cannabis in Massachusetts.

Exploring Dispensaries in Seattle: What You Need to Know
Understanding Cannabis in Seattle
In 2012, Washington State became one of the first U.S. states to legalize recreational cannabis, marking a major shift in how residents and visitors could access marijuana. As a result, Seattle’s dispensary scene has flourished, with various dispensaries providing a wide selection of products. From classic strains to innovative edibles and tinctures, the cannabis landscape here is varied and well-regulated, ensuring both safety and quality for consumers.
Choosing the Right Dispensary in Seattle
When searching for a quality dispensary in Seattle, consider what you’re looking for in a cannabis experience. Are you interested in recreational use, medicinal needs, or both? Dispensaries typically offer an array of products that can cater to various needs. For those who require cannabis for medicinal purposes, it’s helpful to choose a dispensary with knowledgeable staff who can provide guidance on strains and products suited for specific symptoms or conditions.
Seattle dispensaries offer an incredible variety, and customer service is a top priority. Many stores have well-trained budtenders who can assist with product selection, answer questions, and provide guidance on dosage and usage methods. This ensures that even first-time customers feel comfortable making a purchase that aligns with their needs.
What to Expect from a Visit to a Seattle Dispensary
Entering a dispensary in Seattle is often a straightforward, welcoming experience. Most locations require an ID check upon entry to ensure patrons are of legal age (21+ for recreational use). Seattle dispensaries prioritize a friendly and secure environment where customers can browse products, ask questions, and make informed choices. The product selection is extensive, featuring categories such as:
Flower: Traditional cannabis flower is popular among many users. Dispensaries often carry a rotating selection of strains, from Indicas to Sativas and hybrids.
Edibles: Gummies, chocolates, mints, and other cannabis-infused treats offer an alternative for those who prefer not to smoke.
Concentrates: For more experienced users, concentrates like wax, shatter, and oils provide higher potency and targeted effects.
Topicals and Tinctures: Many dispensaries also stock CBD-rich topicals and tinctures that cater to people looking for pain relief without psychoactive effects.
A Look at "Dispensary Seattle" Options
Seattle’s cannabis dispensaries are located throughout the city, making it convenient to find a shop nearby, whether you're exploring Pike Place Market or enjoying the waterfront. Exploring Barcelona’s Cannabis and Smoking Club Culture: A Comprehensive Guide
What Are Barcelona Smoking Clubs?
Unlike Amsterdam’s cannabis coffee shops, Barcelona’s smoking clubs are private, member-only venues where cannabis can be consumed legally by adults. Legally speaking, public cannabis consumption is prohibited in Spain, but smoking clubs operate on a private membership basis. This model allows individuals to enjoy cannabis in a relaxed setting that complies with local laws. Barcelona smoking clubs are often tucked away in discreet locations, making them safe, intimate spaces for their members.
The design and atmosphere of these clubs can vary greatly. Some provide a luxurious lounge feel, with comfortable seating, ambient lighting, and high-quality sound systems, while others have a more laid-back, rustic vibe that reflects Barcelona’s bohemian culture. While the main attraction in these clubs is the cannabis itself, members often enjoy the relaxed environment, creative decor, and social opportunities that these clubs provide.
What Are Barcelona Cannabis Clubs?
The terms “Barcelona smoking clubs” and “Barcelona cannabis clubs” are often used interchangeably, but they refer to the same type of establishment. Both provide members with access to a variety of cannabis strains, edibles, and other products. Membership usually involves filling out a form, providing identification, and paying a small membership fee. Once registered, members can purchase cannabis products for personal use within the club premises, as cannabis cannot legally be taken outside.
Barcelona cannabis clubs operate within a gray legal area, making it important for visitors to understand and respect the rules. These clubs exist for personal consumption in a private setting, a loophole that allows individuals to consume cannabis legally within these venues. The clubs prioritize discretion and member privacy, and photography or disruptive behavior is often prohibited.
How to Join a Cannabis Club in Barcelona
Joining a Barcelona cannabis club requires an invitation from an existing member or contacting the club directly to confirm if they’re accepting new members. Not all clubs have an open-door policy, so it’s best to do some research or get a referral. Websites, forums, and online communities can offer insights into which clubs are reputable and how to navigate the membership process. It’s important to remember that the age requirement is strictly 18 or 21 depending on the club, and valid identification is necessary to become a member.
Once inside, members have access to a wide selection of cannabis strains, including popular varieties like sativa, indica, and hybrid options, as well as edibles and concentrates. Knowledgeable staff are usually available to guide members, providing recommendations based on individual preferences. For those who are new to cannabis or have specific preferences, the club staff can be invaluable in helping them find the right product.
Why Barcelona’s Cannabis Club Culture is Unique
Barcelona’s cannabis culture is truly one of a kind, and the city has become a top destination for cannabis tourism. The clubs are known for their adherence to strict codes of conduct, which ensures that members enjoy a safe, respectful, and private environment. The atmosphere in Barcelona’s cannabis clubs can be very different from typical social venues, as the focus is on creating a comfortable, unhurried ambiance where members can unwind and enjoy their time.
Compared to other cannabis-friendly destinations, Barcelona offers a refined and laid-back approach to cannabis consumption. While visitors enjoy the freedom to indulge, they’re also expected to adhere to club policies, which promote responsible consumption and respect for privacy.
Important Points for First-Time Visitors
If you’re planning to visit one of these clubs, it’s important to understand the rules and respect the space. Never attempt to take cannabis outside the club, as this could lead to legal trouble. Additionally, avoid asking about cannabis clubs in public, as the city takes discretion seriously. Many clubs also require prior reservations, so planning ahead is advised.
