Has anyone gotten the Cane Buddy to actually stay put on their cane? It's "secured" to the cane by wrapping Velcro around the body of the cane, but like I think the makers forgot that canes are in general pretty damn smooth so no matter how tightly I pull the Velcro it keeps sliding down to the very bottom, which a) poses a dangerous trip hazard if you don't constantly readjust it, and b) the act of readjusting it either means bending my back the act of which has been declared verboten by both my rheumatologist and my physical therapist or lifting my cane off the ground which defeats the purpose of using a cane both for balance reason and for not putting pressure on my fucked knee

#cane #cane user #cane buddy #cripplepunk #cpunk #in the Before Times i carried a backpack for my Emergency Crohn's Kit but then i was forbidden from carrying things #then i got a lightweight rolling suitcase to lug things around on #*in #but while effective was an ordeal because complete strangers were always snidely asking if i was going on vacation #which is annoying just as a one-off but i heard it CONSTANTLY and i don't know why? it barely looked any different from a rolling backpack #the ableds are not okay #it was to the point i almost got a bumper sticker to put on it telling them to get off my dick #anyway i can't walk very well with both hands occupied because i need an arm to swing for balance #so i can't use the cane and drag along the rolly bag at the same time very easily #so that's where the cane buddy and various funky fanny packs come in #which still isn't perfect because neither has room for a spare change of clothes but i can carry most everything else i need in both #in theory #cane bag

i’ve been in pain all day and then on my walk over to do something i was stopped by a stranger to be told i look like i can walk fine and shouldn’t be using a cane i don’t need. i want to cry

#i dont know what i should be doing #it helps but sometimes when im using a cane or talking about being disabled i feel questioned and like people are waiting for me to mess up.#they saw me lift the cane off the ground for one sec to readjust my bag and suddenly i was a faker #i feel terrible

just had an airport experience so evil that i literally openly cried from like 10min after deplaning all the way through customs etc until halfway through the train ride back to the city 👍

#almost lost my bag first of all bc they did a weird confusing valet check #then i'd asked for wheelchair assistance but they just left one at the gate and nobody would help me bc ig i didn't request it properly?#and none of the wheelchair ppl even knew who to ask???#and we were in a weird remote part of the airport so i was just wandering around lost and ended up having to go so far #like i survived with just my cane i Can walk it didn't hurt that bad but. it could've hurt less!!#NONE of this was helped by it being the first time i ever seriously tried to use a wheelchair in public. was already scared #anyway. fuck airports. at least i'm home #p

I finally gave up and re-bought the same Walgreens cane I had a few years ago. I’ve looked everywhere for that thing for months and my conclusion is it must have slipped through the cracks between worlds and will never return. I’ve been happy with my folding cane but it gives me hand blisters like nobody’s business because of the type of rubber and the handle edges. Thank goodness for ye old soft foam handle

#that thing is just GONE #I had it while I was in Missouri and I haven’t seen it since #??????????#I keep having to stop using the folding cane when my hand gets close to blister stage so it’s super nice to not worry about it #the folding cane can live in my bag like it was supposed to #and when I’m planing on using a cane the whole time I’m walking at home or walking while out #I can just grab the clunky foam handle one and have a lovely experience without pain and with a much larger handle to grip #which helps with my hand and wrist pain and also is easier to hang onto as I get more fatigued and or partially numb fingers #cane user #canes #cane #personal #mobility aid #mobility aid user #mobility aids

ive finally found an acceptable flavor of non-peppermint candy cane
