🪐Saturn & Insecurities: How does it show up for you?🪐

🪐We all know that Saturn rules many things. Such as time, fears, traditions, karma and work ethics but depending on where it’s placed and aspected in your chart, it can identify what your insecurities are as well. It shows where/how you’re insecure and thus giving you tools necessary to acknowledge and be aware of this in order to grow and heal. 🪐

Saturn in the 1st house:

There could be insecurities surrounding your body image and looks. Insecurities involving physical vitality and health too since this could affect you physically and how you appear to others. There could be insecurities involving matters of independence and self sufficiency as well and relying on others. You could fear being seen as weak or incompetent as well. Appearing vulnerable to others could make you feel insecure.

Saturn in the 2nd house:

Insecure in your values and how you value yourself. Could rely on others to give you said value and as a result struggle with low self esteem. “I’m not worthy of xyz…”. This is a common placement for food restrictions/ED’s as Saturn restricts here and the second house can represent the mouth and food. Insecure worth tied to food and possessions. Could feel insecure about what you lack or don’t have materially. Insecure about how you make money.

Saturn in the 3rd house:

You could have been made to feel insecure about your intelligence especially growing up since the 3rd house rules early life experiences and siblings. Bullies could have made you feel insecure in school. There could be insecurity in how you speak too and possible speech stammers/stuttering. You could have felt insecure based upon the neighborhood you lived/grew up in.

Saturn in the 4th house:

Your home could’ve been a space that exacerbated your insecurities when younger or your mother made you feel insecure. You feel insecure in small restrictive spaces/rooms; cutting off your ability to feel secure and comfortable. There could be insecurities surrounding home ownership or lack thereof. A lack of privacy could enhance insecurities and a feeling of safety.

Saturn in the 5th house:

There could be a crippling fear/insecurity in your self expression and how you draw attention to yourself. You could be insecure in creative endeavors and dating/interacting with romantic intention. There could be insecurities involving hobbies and sports. Could be very clumsy natured and super ashamed of this. You could have insecurities in the ability/inability to have children.

Saturn in the 6th house:

Your workplaces and coworkers could make you feel inferior and insecure. You could feel insecure in how you show up for others in their time of need. Health insecurities and struggles are a potential here too. Since the 6th can represent open enemies, you could feel insecure in confrontational issues/matters. There could be insecurities surrounding your every day structure and wellness routines.

Saturn in the 7th house:

You struggle with relationships making you feel insecure and could also attract partnerships that make you feel this way. There could be patterns of lack in how you give and receive love/affection within partnerships. Networking could also invoke insecurities and all matters of social networking with others closely on a one on one basis. Insecurities around relating to others closely and feeling understood or lack thereof.

Saturn in the 8th house:

Insecurities surrounding loss and death. You could struggle with being vulnerable in intimate relationships and this could make you feel insecure. Going into darker emotions and feelings could bring discomfort for you in how to process them. Inheritance debts and taxes could be sources of anxiety/stress leading to insecurity as well. Sexual intimacy could be a source of insecurity for you as well and expressing your sexuality.

Saturn in the 9th house:

Religions spirituality or faith in general could bring you feelings of insecurity. A lack of purpose in your life could also trigger insecurities and restlessness. This could be an area where you feel “stuck” and restricted as opposed to optimistic and abundant (Jupiter/9th house themes). This could indicate a propensity towards atheism with this placement as well with lack of faith in a higher power. Travel could also be a source of major insecurity for you and being in foreign cultures. Higher education and mentors could have been a constant source of insecurity for you as well.

Saturn in the 10th house:

Your father could have made you feel insecure growing up and patriarchal figures in general as well. People of authority and supervisors could also have made you feel insecure. Bureaucratic systems/organizations could also provide a source of oppression and insecurity. Theres also insecurity surrounding your overall public image and “ranking” in society. Traditions and responsibilities could also be viewed as burdensome and create insecurities for you here too.

Saturn in the 11th house:

Large groups of people/crowds could make you feel insecure as well as large friend groups. You could have been the black sheep that always felt left out of your friend group which made you feel insecure. Large organizations and communities could instill anxiety and insecurity as well. Being online, mass media, and things like expressing yourself via blogging could have resulted in insecurities for you and/or backlash from others on social media. Technology in general could make you feel insecure and progressive sciences. Sudden dramatic changes (Uranus theme which rules the 11th house) could bring about insecurity.

Saturn in the 12th house:

Endings in general could make you feel uneasy and insecure. Hospitalizations and being institutionalized could be a fear/source of insecurity. Not being acknowledged for your work ethic and accomplishments could also be a source of insecurity here since work (Saturn) could be behind the scenes or clandestine in nature (12th house theme). Darkness and solitude could make you feel uncomfortable and insecure as well as your dreams at night when sleeping. The unknown could also trigger insecurity.

The way we discuss prophecy in fandom is genuinely fascinating. GRRM spends so much time showing how different characters have different interpretations of the same thing based on their own cultural contexts. He says that prophecy is tricky to navigate through multiple characters, showing that even the most careful practitioner can get almost everything wrong and fall victim to their own fallacies (see Mel). So tell me why the main takeaway for large parts of this fandom is “prophecy stupid, it doesn’t matter”. My brothers and sisters in R’hllor, GRRM didn’t invent multiple characters (three of whom are main POVs!!) who can see the future for this to be the conclusion. This is a FANTASY series. Please I’m begging, let us be serious 🥲

I've never been able to get over stories where the abused becomes the villain. True of any media that has this trope, really, but especially true of Sephiroth. He makes my heart hurt.

Created to be nothing but a weapon, abused and manipulated and experimented on from childhood. Sent to go fight Shinra's wars for them, desensitized to killing from a young age, but still managing to hold onto his kindness somehow. They made him into a legend larger than life for their propaganda, while simultaneously de-humanizing him in the worst ways, isolating Seph to the point where no one around him, not even his closest companions, even realized that he needed support. There's hints that no one around him really knew his background by the things they say - the only one who was aware of the extent of his mistreatment was his abuser. He was a high functioning individual - who would be arrogant enough to assume that The General could need help? Who would dare?

And I don't blame Angeal or Genesis or Zack for not realizing. Along with them simply not knowing there was an issue that needed addressing, Sephiroth probably kept it from them on purpose - whether by choice or necessity or outside influence or self preservation.

Sephiroth just wanted a normal life too. He didn't like having his picture taken, but endured because he had to, and because other people wanted it of him. He didn't really care to compete for the title of hero with Genesis, even though Genesis didn't seem to believe it. He took care of his troops, and we see in that one cut scene where he failed to save a soldier, that he still got upset over stuff like that. All those years of killing and losing his men to Shinra's missions and he hasn't truly become numb to it.

And then nearing the end, after first being told he's a monster by one of his former friends, and then later spending a week in that library not eating or drinking or sleeping, left alone to his devices because who would assume that the most competent general of their time can be in a vulnerable state, and shouldn't be left alone right now?

After learning the "truth" about his origins, and after a lifetime of systematic abuse, no longer believing he's even human anymore. And then the only person offering him a hand in his darkest moments is the one he shouldn't have taken. But at that point - could you blame him? Whether or not the post nibelheim Sephiroth is truly him or just a puppet for Jenova I'm uncertain about, but the end result is that from start to finish - Sephiroth never manages to break free from the whims of those who wanted to use him.

And because he gave into his worse demons - he won't receive a happy ending. He won't be saved. There's no comfort for him, no opportunity to rest and heal and grow. His childhood wish to live a normal life will never come to pass.

Watching Sephiroth's story unfold is like watching someone drown in front of you while surrounded by a crowd of people. And the one drowning doesn't even scream for help because he's been conditioned to believe that the suffocation is normal.

I will NEVER get over him. It doesn't excuse what he did after Nibelheim, I'm aware of that, but I can't help but remember that people only ever had praise for him while he was burning villages down in Wutai on Shinra's behalf.

It doesn't excuse his actions. But I will NEVER be able to forget all the ways the world failed him first.

This is not only a moral but a practical position and so we embrace our contradictions. We’re not rallying for a perfect prescription for “decolonization” or a multitude of Indigenous Nationalisms, but for a great undoing of the settler colonial project that comprises the United States of America so that we may restore healthy and just relations with Mother Earth and all her beings. Our tendency is towards autonomous anti-colonial struggles that intervene and attack the critical infrastructure that the U.S. and its institutions rest on. Interestingly enough, these are the areas of our homelands under greatest threat by resource colonialism. This is where the system is most prone to rupture, it’s the fragility of colonial power. Our enemies are only as powerful as the infrastructure that sustains them. The brutal result of forced assimilation is that we know our enemies better than they know themselves. What strategies and actions can we devise to make it impossible for this system to govern on stolen land? We aren’t advocating for a state-based solution, redwashed European politic, or some other colonial fantasy of “utopia.” In our rejection of the abstraction of settler colonialism, we don’t aim to seize colonial state power but to abolish it. We seek nothing but total liberation.

Saturn & Pluto: Their Similarities and Differences 🪐

🪐I thought I’d take this opportunity to chat a little bit about Saturn and Pluto; and what makes them similar and different from each other. 🪐

Saturn

Cold giant planet ruling time (represents Kronos the Greek god of time) fathers, traditions, hierarchies, hard work, aging, old people, isolation (to an extent), refinement, and lessons. Saturn traditionally rules the zodiac signs Capricorn and Aquarius and the 10th house of public image, legacy, and career. Saturn rules aging and lessons so wherever Saturn is placed or emphasized in your chart will illuminate where this process will take place for you. It requires us to own our karmic lessons, learn them through taking ownership, and then we reap the rewards of that effort. If we are still repeating unhealthy patterns and not making the necessary steps forward to grow and learn from them, Saturn will restrict and make life uncomfortable. In order to challenge us to leave these themes behind to step into a more evolved “adult” role in our lives. We normally experience this more acutely during the transit of our Saturn returns starting around 27 and ending around 30. Whatever isn’t learned from this astrological coming of age is rolled over into our karmic debt and the lesson will be enhanced during your second Saturn return somewhere in your 50’s. Saturn rewards hard work and patience. So it’s not all restriction and loss only if these traits are acknowledged. Dramatic changes can occur within the house and placements in your chart because Saturn is the teacher wanting to give a lesson for you to learn so you can mature and grow. Once these are learned, the effects of these lessons lessen. Lean into this time and reflect inward. Saturn loves responsibility and ownership.

Pluto

Pluto is the tiny dwarf ice planet furthest from the sun in our solar system. In modern astrology Pluto represents the sign Scorpio, which is ruled also by mars. Pluto is associated with Hades, the Greek god of the underworld and death/the afterlife. Themes associated with Pluto and the 8th house are death and rebirth, sex, intimacy, joint assets, taxes, debts, inheritance, power, transformation, desire, drive, psychology, trauma, and the occult. Wherever Scorpio or Pluto is in your chart tells you how you can embrace your inner power in powerless situations and the subconscious as well. Through burning to ashes, the phoenix rises again, better than ever and wiser. Pluto will initiate dramatic change(s) that asks you to grow and make you more resilient than before. Pluto can shake us up and ask us to get in touch with our inner power and subconscious fears. How we observe our relationship with control and fear. Only through facing these fears and uncomfortable emotions, can we transform the negative into a positive. Only through being victimized can we be survivors and thrive. Tap into the inner victim and touch the shadows. Pluto demands that you FEEL the uncomfortable and embrace the darkness. It’s part of the process to finding the light again. Pluto is associated with shadow work and themes associated with great potential for healing and dark psychology. The 8th house also rules trauma and violence to an extent. The ugly horrors that the human experience has to offer and isn’t often talked about openly. You can’t have the light without also having the darker nuances of life. The duality that’s to be respected within ourselves and others. Pluto doesn’t ask you to completely eradicate the darkness, but to become one with it through the light. Merging. Intimacy with self in order to embrace true vulnerability and intimacy with others. True union. Pluto rules this as well.

Saturn & Pluto: Similarities/Differences

These two entities are similar to each other in that they both require us to “own our shit” so to speak. Saturn asks us to grow up through responsibility and work through restrictions and hard work to accomplish our goals. Pluto asks us to grow through dramatic changes/shifts of power and shadow work. Confronting the subconscious fears in order to grow and become more resilient and empowered. Their differences lie in outward influence vs. inward. Since Saturn rules the 10th house, these changes and lessons normally affect our public image and drive to meet goals through taking personal responsibility. Pluto asks us to take the external and go into the depths of what makes us tick with these factors. Flip them inside out. How can we rise above the tumultuous change and get to know ourselves better from the process. To feel more intimately empowered as a result. How we can utilize healthy control to prevent it become obsession and compulsion.

🪐Saturn and Pluto both are wonderful tools to acknowledge in our charts/lives if we let them. I don’t like ruling by fear when utilizing astrology because that isn’t what astrology is about in my opinion; it’s facing the realities of life and how it impacts us, and then using the information it provides for improvement and discernment. Only through acknowledging the shadow can we appreciate the light. ☯️
