I won't be offended if you prefer to delete this but your post about Tyler had me thinking...
Caroline really made his grief over his mother dying about her so much so that she issued the worst ultimatum and left herself with...
A drunk old man that used to be her teacher.
A long time friend that never seemed like he got over Elena and definitely has codependent issues with his brother so much so that he sacrificed himself willingly a day after their wedding.
And a power hungry hybrid who gave her money he could more than afford to give and said pretty words but also tortured, enslaved and killed people she was connected to....and also definitely had codependent issues with his brother.
I cannot fathom it.
All true facts. It’s late here so a meta! :D
As a huge Forwood shipper and I’m equally very critical of them. It’s a great ship for them both at first, then becomes a ship only for Caroline’s needs and development which isn’t fair to Tyler That Klaroline/Steroline shadow made those fans believe Tyler was the worst Caroline could get. When in reality he was the BEST romantic partner and friend she ever had.
What upsets me more about that ultimatum that Caroline FORCED is that she’s the only one we see comforting Tyler after Carol’s death. Even before Carol died, and Tyler was skeptical about being alpha she uplifted him and Tyler heavily respected what she had to say and went full force with it. Mind you, this is the same Tyler that broke every bone in his body just to be with Caroline. Then re-agreed to slavery for Care. Forwood communicated with each other and called out their faults. The other tvdu ships weren’t doing that!—then we get this full arc of Caroline’s grief and remember she bluntly told Tyler to get over the fact that she hooked up with Klaus because of her impulses and she’s not good1!!1
The series wanted to bury Forwood and they did so in the worst ways imaginable. Caroline gets pregnant with Alaric’s babies forcibly. (I understand Candice was pregnant but they could’ve hid her belly so Caroline wasn’t pregnant.)-Oh and we can’t forget Alaric was in love with her and proposed.
Steroline was supposed to follow the friends to lovers build up the way Forwood did and it never appears that Stefan is all in the way Caroline is. Tbh, even before the wedding Stefan wanted out the relationship he tried multiple times to end things in s8. Caroline refused and wanted it to work. Building them up after Liz’s death was a choice. Stefan manipulated Caroline heavily to when it came Tyler and their relationship.
Klaroline has no obstacles to pass with them. Klaus may give Caroline pretty things, and money but emotionally he’s never shown to give Caroline any support. When Caroline saves Bonnie from those 12 witches which is her first huge kill(correct me if I’m wrong) since s2 she immediately goes to Klaus and he basically tells her to get away from him. Klaus mentions how she’s too good for that small town but Caroline had never said she hated her home. What she did hate was Klaus grown ass destroying shit. They never had a serious conversation about anything tbh. I did enjoy how Caroline called him out at first but TO’s “you aren’t the villain in my story.” Ruined that. Oh and lol these shippers get on Damon for his rape of Caroline yet somehow, someway excuses that Klaus attempted to rape Caroline too in Tyler’s body…. Anyways! I do think a lot of Klaroline is rooted in Klaus wanting control over Tyler, and Caroline is a way to exert control over Tyler because of his love for her.
Okay this is long af, sorry! To end this off Tyler loved Caroline for who she was. He never wanted her to change, he valued and respected her. Never abused her or anyone she loved. He listened to what she had to say. Caroline’s other love interests NEVER saw her the way Tyler did. Btw, I wish people understood Tyler never, not once slutshamed Caroline for having sex with someone else. He was only mad that she slept with Klaus as if Klaus did not ruin Tyler’s life and murdered his mother. There’s obviously a reason Caroline didn’t want Tyler to know and continued to ignore the boundaries he placed up in s5 so they could just go back to the way SHE wanted them to be. It’s sad they were ruined because 5B of Forwood has moments where you can forget their broken up just based on Forwood’s chemistry. I forgot to add, some fans pretend Tyler couldn’t give Caroline a good life. Tyler wasn’t financially struggling, and would’ve done anything she asked of him. I think it’s a little problematic that Tyler did say everything he liked about himself was Caroline lol. But, he wanted nothing but her and their happiness. Just without the enslavement from Klaus.
Thank you for the ask!
#Forwood#tyler lockwood#Caroline Forbes#Anti Steroline#Again stefan died to be free of that relationship bless that man heart fr#anti klaroline#anti stefan salvatore#anti damon salvatore#anti klaus mikaelson#driaresponds#sevensistersofsussex#Tvd#the vampire diaries#a lot of you k c e r s lack media literacy because Tyler never cheated on Caroline btw :) Klaus manipulated Caroline into thinking other :P

Can we get a pining harry snippet from your slytherin au 🥺
omg YESSSS original fic: my hand's at risk (i fold)
ask me anything!
"No, no!" Harry blew his whistle and pulled his broom around to face his Chasers. "You have to block her at mid-field. If Gi--"
"Potter," Malfoy snarled. "I swear to God, if you say her name one more time--"
"If Ginny Weasley," Harry growled back impatiently, "breaks through, then that leaves Malfoy as our only defense. Which we know from last year, gives us absolutely no chance."
Draco scowled. "Appreciate the vote of confidence."
"Just trying to adequately prepare," sniped Harry. "I seem to be the only one."
Candice and Anastasia both mumbled some choice words under their breath and floated back to the other side of the pitch to begin the drill all over again. Andrew followed, but at least he had the good sense to look sheepish. Harry reminded himself to take it easy on the fourth year.
"Burke! Loughty!" Harry shouted to the two Beaters. "Let's try something else to make it interesting."
"Actually," Cam nodded to the ground as he approached. "Looks like our time's up."
Harry followed his line of sight to see a group of people in crimson robes filing out onto the pitch. He checked his watch, then swore.
"Alright," he conceded. "I guess that's it for today. We'll go again tomorrow morning at the same time."
The other six players all groaned half-heartedly about practicing on a Sunday morning, but had the foresight to finish their complaining before reaching the ground.
A few snide comments and cutting glares were tossed back and forth as the opponents passed each other to and from the pitch. The first Quidditch match of the year was only two weeks away and it was safe to say tensions were high.
"Hey, Weasley?" Malfoy drawled. "Figured out how to guard all three hoops yet?"
"That's three more than you can--" Ron shot back.
Harry shoved Draco between the shoulder blades to keep him moving, but he couldn't resist a peek out of the corner of his eye at the smallest person bringing up the rear of scarlet and gold.
She had her copper hair piled high atop her head and a playbook beneath one arm. The golden glow of morning made the freckles on her nose stand out more than usual.
To his absolute horror, she caught his eye and smirked.
"Potter," she nodded.
"Weasley," Harry clipped in response.
She pulled to a stop as he knelt down to return the snitch he'd caught earlier to it's spot in the practice chest.
"Good practice?"
Harry frowned up at her genuine tone of voice. "It was fine."
She hummed, a mischievous glint to her eye. "So, they finally invented a drill you can run that will keep you conscious during an entire match?"
Rolling his eyes, Harry straightened to his full height. He'd grown a few inches in the last six month or so, and he felt a little pang of satisfaction go through him as Ginny Weasley had to tip her head back to maintain eye contact.
Or maybe that was a pang of longing. He couldn't quite tell the difference anymore.
Harry got lost in her warm brown eyes for a moment, until she blinked and shifted her weight awkwardly.
Alarm leaked into his bloodstream as he realized she was waiting for him to reply, but for the life of him he couldn't remember what he'd been about to say.
"The...er-" Harry stammered. "One of the bludgers is acting sluggish. Probably needs to go to Madam Hooch when you're done."
"Thanks for the head's up," Ginny quirked a derisive eyebrow. "Now get off my pitch."
He snorted.
She didn't wait for him to leave, but jogged toward the middle of the stadium and hopped on her broom to lead warm ups. Harry's eyes followed her progress up towards the rest of the Gryffindor's for a beat too long.
Thankfully, no one was around to notice.

Batman: The Animated Series - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles
Candice
The righthand woman to mobster, Rupert Thorne, Candice was a shrewd and ambitious criminal with eyes to take over her boss’ empire. Far and away Thorne’s most competent operative, Candice hatched a scheme to neutralize the threat posed by the intrepid district attorney, Harvey Dent. She discovered Dent was seeing a psychotherapist and broke into the doctor’s office to pilfer her session notes. These notes showed Dent was suffering from significant psychological difficulties and Thorne used the matter in an attempt to blackmail Dent. This resulted in a disastrous turn of events that led to Dent becoming the villain known as Two-Face.
As Two-Face waged his war against Thorne’s operations, Candice hatched a new scheme to take him down. She posed as a police detective and convinced Dent’s fiancée, Grace LaMont, to alert her if Dent ever contacted her. Believing she was doing the right thing, LaMont did so and this allowed Thorne and his men to get the drop on Two-Face. Fortunately, Batman arrived in time to prevent any bloodshed. An infuriated Grace LaMont belted Candice, knocking her out.
Somehow Candice managed to avoid any serious jail time and was soon back to serving at Thorne’s side. Yet she had grown tired of being a second and seized at an opportunity to take Thorne out and replace him as the boss.
Thorne had brought in the mercenary called Bane to take out Batman. Candice was assigned to act as Bane’s handler and she cozied up to the villain suggesting that, once he had taken out Batman, the two of them would be able to take over Gotham on their own. Bane was intrigued by this notion.
Batman ultimately bested Bane, throwing the defeated villain at Thorne’s feet. Furthermore, Batman provided tape-recorded evidence of Candice’s plot to use Bane to betray Thorne. This was the last Candice was seen and it remains unknown what ultimately became of her.
Actress Diane Michelle provided the voice for the duplicitous femme fatale, first appearing in the seventeenth episode of the first season of Batman: The Animated Series, ‘Two-Face Part One.’

A Terrible Interlude
Summary: You meet Eddie’s dad. No one is happy about this.
Warnings: Shitty parents!
A/N: This is a little snippet I jotted down while finishing up part five of Rent. Just a little call back and some character exploration. There’s a tonal shift here that I’m not real sure about, but I think I like the direction it went in. This isn’t really proofread at all so apologies but this isn’t anything I was going to polish up anyways. Also it’s only mentioned once, but Evelyn is referring to Eddie’s mom. AlsoAlso you have the name Candice in this. It’s not going to show up again anytime soon I just needed a name.
“Edward.” His voice is the same low scratch it’s always been. Deep timber stuck between smoke stained lungs, an adolescence of coal mining on the backend. It’s funny that cough stuck around, considering he hadn’t stayed in that job very long. Stealing things was easier.
“Daniel.” Eddie replies with a tip of his chin. Likes the way his dad’s shoulders scrunch up at his full name.
“Boy, don’t start that shit-“ He’s cut off when Wayne puts a hand on his arm.
“Danny.” Just a warning from an older brother. Wayne looks down the steps at Eddie, concern in the small smile he shoots him. “Ed, your dad was just telling me about how he got here.” He watched the two of you walk up the road, laughter ringing out. Watched Eddie hitch you higher on his back. Wayne’s heart sinks knowing he’s about to ruin his nephews week.
“By bus I assume, isn’t that how they always drop you off?” Eddie’s defiant and still, hasn’t realized you’ve slid off his back yet. “Did they drop you off or did you just steal another car?”
Wayne moves first, cuts his brother off and leaves him to angrily suck down his cigarette on the top step. He gets close to Eddie, grabs his shoulder to pull him in. Doesn’t like that you’re here to witness this bullshit, it only ever goes south.
“Listen son,” he says this quiet. Danny never liked it when Wayne called his boy that. “He surprised both of us. Make nice for the afternoon and he’ll be gone by dinner time. He’s got a place to stay over in Elwood so he ain’t hanging around.” He gives Eddie a good shake to try to get him to look at him. Wayne sees a flash of rage in those brown eyes and for a moment Evelyn is staring at him. He straightens up, hand still clamped on Eddie’s shoulder and looks past him to you.
“Listen Dee, why don’t you head on home? Your mother’s got the night off right? Might like to see you for supper.”
You nod a bunch at Wayne, thankful for him noticing your dilema. You only get three steps backward before Daniel speaks up.
“Well you don’t need to send his friend away. Jesus Christ Wayne, I’m not gonna bite.”
“Danny, don’t turn this into a thing. She’s gotta go home. Probably got homework, like this one does.” He pulls Eddie forward a step, feels like he’s pulling an empty box along with him. “They spend enough time together, we can make introductions later.” They make for the steps and you try to high tail it but Daniel’s voice rings out between the trailers.
“Dee? What’s that short for?”
Now, your mother had taught you manners. How to be respectful to adults and authority though it rarely stuck. This man was neither in your eyes, however you can feel the backslide of nerves kicking in. Grown men asking questions never boded well.
“Candice, sir.”
His mouth pulls down in contemplation, slaps a hand on the metal railing and turns to go inside Wayne’s trailer.
There’s quiet before Wayne lets out a deep sigh. “Ed?”
Eddie moves quick then. Snatches up his book bag you dropped by his feet when you tried to leave. “I don’t fucking care.” He beelines for the front door and Wayne turns to you.
“Listen, I’ll call your mama when we get settled. Have her come get you.” You nod again.
“This’ll be fine.” He lies.
- - - -
Borderlines are clearly drawn through the small living room and Wayne is sadly stuck in the middle of it all. Him and Daniel have been talking for the tenses half hour you’ve ever witnessed. They make it seem like the conversation is easy but you don’t think you’ve ever seen Wayne sit so straight in his recliner. Eddie has posted himself against the countertop outside of the kitchen, just out of your reach where you’re seated at the tiny table. Any fidget you made had Eddie looking over his shoulder at you, only to snap his head back when his dad reclined on the sofa.
This is a whole side of Eddie you’ve never seen. Both him and Wayne hold the tension like a line between them, but where Wayne lets out a quiet laugh every now and then, Eddie just doubles down on his glare. Daniel makes it a point to ignore his kid for a bit.
It’s wild how much Eddie resembles his dad. The same nose sloping into full lips; same angled jaw and slightly too big ears. The same crossed arms and wide shoulders. They’re even the same height almost.
But that’s where that ends.
Eddie must have his mom’s eyes. Her long curls. Her smile. Because Daniel’s blue eyes are flinty and cold blue. His hair short and lighter brown. You haven’t seen him actually smile since sitting down even though he’s huffed a laugh or two.
“So did you just forget to call or what?” Eddie cuts across the conversation. You immediately look down at your feet to try and avoid everyone’s eyes. There’s so much sighing in this small space it’s a wonder there’s any air left to breathe.
“Edward-“
“It’s Eddie.”
His dad fully turns his body to face him. “Edward,” he enunciates it like Eddie is hard of hearing, “if you opened your ears you’d have heard me say I was trying to surprise you and Wayne.”
“We don’t like surprises.”
“Well I wouldn’t know that on account of you never visiting me.”
“Why would I do that when you just spend thirty minutes behind glass telling me everything wrong with me?”
The quiet is fucking unbearable so you set your glass of water on the table and shoot up, mumbling about needing the bathroom. That’s not allowed apparently.
“Candice?” You don’t like how Daniel says that. Like he’s testing the name out in his mouth. Eddie is on that immediately, steps in front of you like a shield and oh how you’d love to just crawl into the back of his ribs and burrow and get you both out of this excruciating visit.
“Nah, you don’t need to ask her anything.”
“Wayne, you sure they hang out all the time?” Daniel scoffs and stands, shoves his hands in the pockets of his faded blue jeans. Wayne looks questioning and Eddie takes a step back toward you.
“Well she seems to have some manners, would’ve thought that might’ve rubbed off on Eddie here.” He sets his shoulders wide when he looks down at Wayne and then over to Eddie playing knight to you. The confidence you get to speak is like a ray of sun peaking through a cloud momentarily. “Well those are questionable on a good day.” Eddie looks over his shoulder at you with cold eyes.
“At least you have them. Thought my brother would have done a better job than this. Father would’ve never put up with this.”
It’s Wayne’s turn to stand. “Danny, it’s been a few years since you’ve been in polite company so I’ll let that slide right now. Why don’t we let the kids go cool off while you and me have a little chat.” It’s not a question. Eddie realizes that as soon as the last word leaves Wayne’s mouth. He spins around and grabs your upper arm to pull you with him to his room. Before the door closes you can hear Daniel say something about an ‘ungrateful kid’ and the quiet anger in Wayne’s voice.
- - - -
The room is still with the door closed. Eddie stays leaned against it for a while, taking deep breaths to calm down. He can’t believe this is happening. Had no intention of you ever meeting his dad. Had no idea he was even close to getting out. It’d been such a good day too. He’d managed two B’s on two separate test and then you’d agreed to finally let him make you a character sheet for his new campaign. God this was wrong, he wanted to lash out at something but you’re here and he doesn’t want to let himself fall into that stupid rage. He can feel the tendrils of black creeping up the back of his head, invading his thoughts, when you let out an exasperated bark of laughter.
“Holy shit dude that was fucking tense!” You whisper yell at him. “I haven’t felt that weird since my dad came to visit last Christmas. Shit.” You draw out the middle of that ‘shit’ and turn around his room once. “I can like, go out the window if you want?”
No. Eddie doesn’t want that. If you leave he’s gonna stomp right back down that short hallway and punch his dad in the face. He’ll call the cops and tell Hopper his shitheel dad showed up and punched him first. Get him tossed back in jail for a few days, he doesn’t care.
No, Eddie wants to sit on his bed and show you how roll your stats. Wordlessly he walks across to the stack of binders and user guides next to his night stand and pulls out a notebook.
“Eddie?”
“C’mere.” He kicks his shoes off and throws his jacket down at the foot of the bed. Throws himself too against the pillows and tucks a leg under himself. When you don’t move to the bed he looks up from the notebook, through his hair and stares for a second.
“Dude, we don’t have to do that right now. I mean, we can do it la-“
“Please.” Quiet quiet quiet. Eddie’s never quiet and rarely does he use the ‘p’ word. Everything about today is sitting like a lead weight in your stomach. He’s pleading for something normal you realize and before you sit you turn his radio on, the low drone drowning out any utterance from the living room.
Twenty minutes later and you’ve decided on a purple Teifling fighter named Theodora. Eddie thinks it’s funny how into the horns you are and starts a little basic sketch in the corner of the page he’s writing your stats on. You’re asking him about the different dice when his dad’s voice cuts through the little dome of warmth you two are under.
“Well he’s my fucking kid Wayne, I know you like to forget that sometimes!” His voice hits Eddie hard and that’s all it takes for a sob to fall out of him. The tether he’d been hanging on by was thin apparently and he buckles.
“Hey, you okay?” Worry slides into your words.
“No.” His face is buried in his hands and the minor shake of his shoulders tells you the rest. Wordlessly you reach over and pull him to you, head resting on your shoulder and arms going around to squeeze hard. It’s a few minutes of Eddie sniffling into your shirt while you rub little circles on his back. He can’t seem to stop the slow leak of tears and he can feel the shame spreading red hot across his face. He’s only ever cried like this in front of his uncle and now, you. He’s never clung to you like a life raft, stuttering in breath and trying to wipe his eyes on his sleeve. Feels foolish but still doesn’t let go, needs to have some kind of grounding.
You’d been sitting next to him when you’d pulled him in and now the position feels like you’re being pretzeled in half. “Hey, scoot over.” You whisper and nudge him. He does, unwinds himself to lean back against the wall, props his arms on his raised knees. You spin and sidle up right next to him to fit your shoulder under his, arms wrapped around your knees. “I’m sorry your dad is such a dick.”
Eddie laughs wetly, “Yeah well, yours isn’t much better.”
“Fair. Maybe I’ll take you to Indy and we can just have a repeat of today?” You joke, nudging him. He laughs again and you watch him out of the corner of your eye. Tear tracks cut through his cheeks and you reach over without thinking to wipe them from one side with your fingertips. He just turns his head slightly, quirks an eyebrow and you just shrug.
“I’d tell you to not cry over him but he’s your dad.” Your dad may not be in prison but you get it. Spent enough time hating him to not get it. Still, seeing Eddie not loud and not smiling and not himself has changed your view of him a little. Nothing bad but there’s depth to him he was keeping hidden, another dimension of his personality that you hope he’ll let you into more if for nothing more than to help.
“You know if you want to talk about it…”
“I know.” Sniffles again and rocks his head back against the wall. “Thank you.”
- - - -
His dad leaves before you, evening settling when the roar of an engine pulls up outside. You and Eddie have been laying in bed side by side while he explains your new creation to you when the murmur of voices outside makes him get up to look through his blinds.
“Fucking asshole can’t seem to make new friends.” He flicks the blinds and settles back onto the bed with his back facing you. You want to reach out and place a hand between his shoulders to let him know it’s okay. Wayne cuts in though and it only annoys you a little when the door swings open and he just looks in. Worn and tired he tells Eddie his dad is gone.
“Yeah I saw him leave with Rob.”
“Don’t worry about that. I’m starting dinner okay? Coast is clear now.” He nods at you and you know a cue. Eddie stops you before you leave his room to shove the notebook at you.
“Hang on to that, I’ll finish it up tomorrow with you.”
“Thank you.” You smile at him before giving him one last hug. He’s still stiff but he does hug you back, arms squeezing your ribs a little longer than normal. Making your way out of the trailer, past Wayne who gives your shoulder a squeeze, you feel that familiar giddiness again. Try as you might it keeps getting harder to squish down, and as you grip the notebook close you can feel it pushing up around your invisible hands trying to stuff it down.
- - - -
The storm door closes and Eddie wanders out of his room to stand in the kitchen and stare at the side of his uncles head. Wayne knows he’s there obviously, but he finishes browning the ground beef and layering it with the peas in the casserole dish before looking at him.
“Ed, I’m sorry. You know I didn’t know about that.”
Eddie nods, throat bobbing when he swallows. “You don’t want him here either.”
“No I don’t.”
“What did he actually want?”
Wayne gives him a bullshit answer, something about money and a job. He’d been asking about custody again, said he had a life set up for himself in Elwood and wanted Eddie to live with him again. That conversation went nowhere and ended with Daniel yelling about ‘his boy’.
Dinner is quiet and Eddie only eats the mashed potatoes off his shepards pie but at least it’s something.
“If you wanna skip tomorrow it’s fine, I’ll call and tell ‘em you’re sick or something.”
“No, I told her I’d be there tomorrow.”
Wayne nods and silently cleans up dinner. When Eddie hugs him from behind, sliding his skinny arms around Wayne’s shoulders he just pats his hand with his.
“Thank you Wayne.”
“No thanks needed kiddo.”

QUEENIE on hulu
queenie; a timely yet tepid take on black womanhood
“I think it’s important to break the tradition of what a Black Woman has always been. Also, to shift the focus away from what she did for white people.”
To say this and then have the show be what it was, is almost laughable.
Queenie boasts many promising ideas about black womanhood but doesn’t deliver, instead executing its story in a superficial, rushed manner that had me asking: who, exactly, is this for?
The summary of the show (based on Candice Carty-William’s book of the same name—read a little bit but the basic, uninspired writing style bordered on YA, and I’m grown and have no time for blandly executed dramas) reads, “Queenie Jenkins is a 25-year-old Jamaican British woman living in south London, living in between two cultures and entering neatly into neither.” And while that’s true, I do think this summary hints at a very light take of the actual contents of the show. A more accurate description is that Queenie is show about a young black woman who‘s had an especially rough go of it and is constantly mistreated by the men she invites into her life. After one particularly gutting experience at work, she has a panic attack that pushes her into therapy and helps her realize that perhaps something needs to change. The road to that change is a long and muddled one.
Queenie opens with the title character at a gynaecologist appointment where she’s just been told, quite uncaringly, that she’s had a miscarriage. Queenie didn’t even know she was pregnant. She leaves the office in a daze, lying to the aunt who accompanied her to this appointment, not wanting to share this news for fear of judgment and shame. This fear and subsequent distance in her behaviour are present throughout the entire series, a main trait of Queenie’s that she’s practiced since childhood.
The series goes on to show the dissolution of Queenie’s relationship (at a birthday dinner, her boyfriend Tom, refuses to defend her against his racist family; this leads to a harsh conversation wherein they break up and the miscarriage is never brought up) and her spiral after the fact. In the wake of the breakup, Queenie moves out of Tom’s home into a smaller, dingier place. Feeling unmoored and unworthy, she takes stock of her life and decides to put herself out there. The breakup has brought up latent anxiety and abandonment issues stemmed from Queenie’s childhood, when her mother discarded and isolated her at the whim of her boyfriend. In an effort not to revisit those fears of dismissal and unwantedness, she starts hooking up with men she meets on the apps. Rather than the care and attention she so desperately craves and needs, these hookups leave her roughed up and raw, both emotionally and physically.
The first 5 episodes show Queenie matching and sleeping with various white men (and one arab man who fetishizes her body and blackness, cowering when his wife finds out about the affair and leaving Queenie to defend herself despite him being the one who took vows) who have no care or respect for Queenie as a person. The men approach her with corny, racist lines, have degrading, pornified expectations of her sexuality due to her race, and all but force themselves on her with to little pushback on her part. It’s a lot to watch and even harder to take, on Queenie’s part. One man in particular, is so violent with Queenie that her doctor assumes she’s been assaulted. Queenie brushes off the concern by claiming it’s rough sex.
She continues waving off off these mistreatments and others (from one of her so called friend and well meaning but clueless family) for 5 of the 8 episodes. As the show progresses, each episode details her depressing downfall and sexual entanglements with what came off to me like salacious indulgence.
Coercion, mental distress, emotional abuse, fetishization, racism, and general lack of care are all extremely relevant and relatable issues Queenie touches upon but examines quite poorly. The handling of race is superficial, the characters outside of Queenie shallow and the story itself held up by a string of series of unfortunate circumstances, the root of which the writers fail at thoroughly portraying and addressing. The show shoddily spreads a handful of flashbacks throughout the series, answering vital questions too late into the narrative. Queenie’s backstory is vital in understanding why she makes the decisions she does, why she can’t seem to stand up for herself or realize that the men she lets into her life are damaging to her, but this backstory comes on so late that it almost feels like an afterthought.
In episode Episode 6, the audience is made privy to Queenie’s family history, how she became the insecure mess she is in the present day. The episode starts with the birth of her mother follows her life until she has Queenie and reveals the violence Queenie and her mother face at the hands of her mother’s boyfriend Roy. He’s physically and emotionally abusive, violently harming Queenie’s mother while telling Queenie that she’s useless and will amount to nothing. Eventually her mother and Roy move away and leave Queenie in an apartment for fend for herself. It’s months before Queenie is discovered by her aunt and taken to live with her father (who gives her back) and eventually, her grandparents. This displacement scars Queenie, and in effect, makes her fearful of black men, although this takeaway is only somewhat alluded to in the series. In the book Queenie actually says this. In the series, when Queenie is asked point blank why she never dates black men and instead seeks out these disrespectful and often racist white men, she says ‘it’s complicated’ and moves on. So does the show.
In one of the later episodes, Queenie’s (white) therapist helps her admit that the sex she’s having is harmful, that she’s trying to substitute rough physical contact for legitimate caring connection. And while this revelation is all well and good, they never broach the topic of race. A socially aware watcher might draw these conclusions but will the general audience? I don’t think it’s on the show to handhold the audience but people are naive and ignorant and given the fact that Queenie seeks out the same behaviour in white men that she rebukes in black men at the cost of feeling wanted, I needed more than a throwaway line that on partially alluded to this fact.
In contrast to the underwhelming way the show portrays Queenie’s backstory and subsequent healing, the abuse she suffers at the hands of men is almost gratuitous in its depiction. Episodes 1 to 5 display scene after scene of Queenie experiencing sexual and emotional violence, at the hands of multiple white men. Sometimes her preoccupation with white men is played up sometimes for laughs, other times as a fun personality quirk . This tonal mismatch does the story a giant disservice and waters down the gravity of the situation and intricacy of the racial dynamics.
To be clear. My issue wasn’t that Queenie liked white men. Location, job, culture, etc can all lead—not that it’s a disease lol—to interracial dating and I think everyone should get in where they fit in. But the refusal to meaningfully interrogate this desire and its root plays into my other criticism of this show: the disingenuous engagement and usage of blackness through aesthetics and played out references. With all the paltry #blackpower signalling this show (and Queenie herself, when it came to wanting to be taken seriously at work) did and the fact that Queenie seemed to live and hang out in black parts of her city, her staunch swirling came off as strange. Even more so when she faced violence at the hands of these men and that very violence went wholly unaddressed. Her preference might not have been rooted in self hate, but it was rooted in something painful and tragic and should’ve been addressed and examined with more than the equivalent of a shrug. It’s less that I wanted Queenie to find blacklove* and more that I needed her to get to the root of this ‘preference’ so she could heal and not let this fear guide her life. Also it was just fucking weird. These men suck bad and yet it’s mayo misters for life? Come on now.
But rather than meanfully engage with the story it claimed to be telling, the show brushes against the deeper underpinnings of its story and then sinks almost gleefully into the salacious and disturbing. Eager to linger on the suffering while rushing the relief. It’s odd. In regards to Queenie’s porcelain princes, the show hastily patches up the preference ‘problem’ with a bland bandaid in the form of her best friend’s cousin.
Frank, a character made solely for the show and, I’m sure, to fend off criticisms like mine, is black and boring and nice and around. He and Queenie are friendly but it isn’t until she has a sexy dream of him, that he becomes prominent in her mind. But she’s in the thick of it and doesn’t really have time to canoodle and connect. They continue to orbit each other; Frank treats her with kid gloves at times but it’s chalked up to care, and in the final episode he blandly admits his feelings. Queenie responds somewhat in kind, kissing him while saying she wants to take things slow, as she’s still on a healing journey. It was…fine. Their chemistry was convincing and although I didn’t mind it, it came off less like a romance and more of an obligation. Because of the narrative’s refusal to acknowledge race in any significant manner, this relationship suffered. As did general character work for and beyond Queenie herself.
Queenie as the ever fading sun, is the show central conceit, and it’s fatal flaw.
In an interview with Carty-Williams, she says she wanted to write a book about a black woman who not only spiralled, but did so selfishly. Made herself the centre of everyone’s world, regardless of whether they cared for her or not. I actually love this premise, it’s cool to see a black woman’s verison of the #messywoman trend. I just wish the execution wasn’t so lacking.
My issue with this is that because Queenie is so solipsistic, the other characters are, by default, flat and cliche and stuck on the periphery. And while this approach this might work for a book, on a tv show it comes off like poor character design and sloppy writing. We get glimpses of other characters, sometimes solid (Queenie’s family felt lively and realistic and even their meddling, as exhausting as it was, was true to life and convincing) and sometimes silly (her conflict with her mother is undercooked, she eventually gets an apology and acknowledgment but Queenie’s family pesters her about forgiveness and letting go until she does and its ridiculous and disingenuous; her friends were all various cliches; Kyazike, my favorite, somehow came off like an ever patient, ever supportive, black sidekick who would usually play the long suffering best friend of an irritating white girl in a romcom and I hated that the black best friend effect was present even in a black woman’s story but the white friends didn’t fare much better). It’s clear that Carty-Williams and the other writers wanted to tell a very specific black woman’s story and that’s fine; I just wish it was done better, with a little more finesse.
For a show that claimed to be about a young black woman’s journey to self actualization, a significant portion of its narrative centred whiteness and men, almost undermining the story it was aiming to tell.
Queenie pays a lot of lip service to uplifting and centring black womanhood and the idea of blackness, but while the show highlights black aesthetics, slang, and racism, it never quite engages with Blackness in any substantial way, instead preferring to focus on Blackness more as a plot device one that either weighs down or elevates Queenie, depending on where the story needs Queenie to be.
I didn’t need an academic breakdown or examination of black womanhood in relation to whiteness in the 21st century. Obviously, a 20 minute drama is not a scholarly hour. But it’s disingenuous and nonsensical to so shallowly engage with the same topics you claim to be championing, when in actuality you’re focusing on whiteness and white perception. Similarly disappointing was the lack of time given to respite. The same way the story had time to sit in the hurt and ache was the same way I wanted it to sit in joy and healing, the same way I wanted them to engage with black womanhood outside of obligitary racism here and there and perfunctory (and at times corny) one liners (strong black woman cliches, cheesy clap backs, dated race takes suited for 14 year olds who’ve just discovered social justice, etc).
I just wanted there to be a hint of common sense, especially when Queenie would make broad statements and speak for black women in general. Just because you’re black and experiencing something doesn’t make it a uniquely black experience. I really need tv/book/film writers and hell, even the everyday black person, to stop spreading this bullshit.
Anyway.
While it’s true that real life doesn’t resolve things beautifully and at once, fiction needs closure and earned endings. Not the didactic, haltingly honest narrative this series presented.
Queenie and her audience deserved better.
footnotes- *black love: no, i don’t subscribe to the ‘black women belong to black men and should only seek them out as romantic prospects’ school of thought. we’re not property and that thinking enables abuse and struggle love in the name of furthering the race. im good on that for LIFE. go where you’re wanted and like whoever you want etc etc. better yet scrap men altogether and get yourself a woman. #happypride 😁
#queenie#queenie hulu#black female characters#candice carty williams#black tv shows#the author’s behaviour online when people asked her why she continuously prioritized and positioned whiteness and white men as a prize#was VERY telling#people love to rag on shonda rhimes for her ‘post racial swirl loving’ but THIS is the true culprit and mayor of swirltopia😭#like she was reveling in it lol#tv review#mytpn

Reading Teyana Taylor's experience with her husband got me thinking about Candice. I know she's grown & has made her decision, but you can never deny the role that trauma plays in your present & future decisions if you haven't acknowledged & worked to heal from them. With The Flash taking more or less a decade of her life, & during that time she faced vitriolic racism, scarce support from TPTB and costars, physically away from family and friends, essentially alone, all of it played a role on how she's moving now. Her having the majority of her first major role tainted by that is why I feel part of the reason she's not actively rushing to go back to work. Now the rest is JR. Similar to what Teyana Taylor says she went through, being a victim of emotional, mental, and narcissistic abuse led to her dimming her light for peace in marriage, CP is enduring the same. The trauma that she faced with TF that she has yet to heal from has her in this cycle of being complacent with trauma, now in an unhealthy relationship. In her mind, at least she has someone now. "An ounce of experience is worth more than a pint of advice." CP is going to have to see this situation for what it truly is and heal until then she's not leaving. “Trauma creates changes you don’t choose. Healing is about creating change you do choose.” - Michelle Rosenthal “Trauma is personal. It does not disappear if it is not validated. When it is ignored or invalidated the silent screams continue internally heard only by the one held captive.” - Danielle Bernock (This was long. 😂🤷🏽♀️)
Truly wishing Candice healing. ❤️

Leila Williams grew up in a poor but very loving family. Her parents, in spite of their personal struggles and the responsibility that had to be thrust onto her as the eldest child, were nevertheless always very supportive of her ambitions. She worked hard, did well in school, and was eventually awarded a full ride scholarship to study pre-law.
She was thriving in college, and things seemed to finally be looking up, until halfway through her second year she received the news that her little brother had been killed in a drive-by shooting. He hadn't even been the target, only an innocent bystander struck by a stray bullet, but the killer was never caught or brought to justice. Although she did her best to carry on, Leila ended up dropping out of college and enrolling in the police academy instead, and it was during her time there that she met Tricky Gallagher.
He was a Marine fresh off his first tour, and while she had never intended on starting a long-term relationship with anyone at that age, there was something about them that simply clicked. It didn't always work, and their relationship was almost as tumultuous as their professional lives, but every time they broke things off, she always found a reason to try again. When he decided to come back for good, she was hopeful enough that things might finally stabilise between them that she agreed to relocate with him and his little brother Addison, whom she had grown very close to over the years.
Unsurprisingly, Huntsville was not the fresh start that she had hoped it would be. Not only was it a hell town straight out of a horror movie, but the problems they'd had for years didn't go away just because they moved to a new place—if anything, they only seemed to get worse. At times, Leila felt like she was carrying the weight of their whole family and it didn't take long for it to start wearing her down. She loved Tricky, but she resented having to watch him keep self-destructing, and yet even as the feelings she'd once felt faded, they simply had too much history for her to bring herself to leave.
Things finally came to a permanent end five months ago when he cheated on her and they both reached their breaking point. She was hurt, and it was a devastating way to end a relationship she had been in for more or less half her life, but she knows in her heart that breaking up was for the best. She's ready to move on, but then again, who has the time? She is far too busy with work and her many other responsibilities.

I don't want to add to the already rampant speculation concerning Glen and Gigi, but I have a different perspective: Glen and Gigi got together in November 2019 when they were both in similar places in their careers, successful enough but not well known or cast in anything major (granted, Glen had been cast in TGM but it hadn't come out yet). Now, Glen's career has grown exponentially while Gigi's career is, more or less, in the same place. I'm not saying that to put Gigi down because I think she's beautiful and she seems happy where she's at which is all that matters, but Glen clearly wants to have a bigger presence in Hollywood. I wouldn't be surprised if he feels he's 'outgrown' her and wants to date someone more famous to help expand his career and relevance among the GP. I feel like he may have consciously or unconsciously sort of egged Gigi into breaking up with him with all of the Sydney pictures, so he doesn't have to be the 'bad guy' and he can chase his Hollywood dreams to the fullest extent. So, no, he's not an evil schemer, but it wouldn't be unheard of for someone in Hollywood and who clearly wants to be famous, to leave someone who isn't helping to further their goals or doesn't have the same goals. All of the drama with Sydney is getting him more pop culture attention than he's ever had, so I'm not surprised he seems perfectly happy and Gigi just got fed up.
Side note: shortly before Glen started dating Gigi, he was hanging out with Joans Smalls and Candice Swanepoel (and other friends) in Ibiza, New York and LA. Some people were saying he and Candice had a thing. I'm guessing Joan and Candice are the type of models he wants to date (Vogue covers, HF campaigns, runways, etc). Or maybe he wants to date famous actresses like Sydney. I've been getting the feeling for a while that he's been detaching from Gigi bit by bit, probably to be able to do the whole Hollywood bit.
TLDR; Gigi isn't 'lashing out' and Glen isn't an 'evil master mind', they're humans who (probably) grew apart and want different things in life. Neither are going about it in the classiest way, but that's Hollywood and it could be messier.
You definitely know a lot more about them and their relationship than I do, so I respect your opinion, but it’s still a lot of speculation

the nerdy black kid
DISCLAIMER: i dont really claim the whole nerdy black kid thing, it doesn't describe my experiences growing up. i'm a nerd, and i'm black, but no, being a nerd/having nerdy interests didn't cause other black kids to ostracize me lmaooo
the Nerdy Black Kid (NBK, because i hate writing this entire phrase) conversation is so interesting but i think the worst part of it is that while (former?) NBKs talk about how they've felt excluded from the black community (, which i don't doubt,) there's other black people who are trying to victimize themself, but on the other side of the story
i distinctly remember when this blew up on twitter, someone replied to a NBK tweet with "I'm a black girl who's loud and ghetto, and i like fighting, [insert other black stereotypes]" basically saying that the implication of NBK tweets is that the "typical" black people othered them.
this "typical" black person is a stereotype of black people, and in reality, NBKs were excluded but it's only because they were weird in general, and now are rebranding white supremacy by saying the "typical" black people othered me because i wasn't "typical" like them.
which i mean, it's convoluted. but i get it, though, conceptually. i think it's a very avoidant way of interpreting the actual NBK discourse, but i do get it.
another thing is the whole "by saying this you're giving white supremacists fuel," as in, you implying that you have dissatisfaction with the black community as a "non-typical" black person is going to give white people more ammo to be racist.
and to that i ask, do you think there is a line that white people haven't crossed yet when it comes to racism? they literally ate us, LMAO. they used black babies as alligator bait, used our teeth as dentures, made leather out of our skins and gore-d black people for entertainment.
you think this is crossing the line? you'd think the NBK conversation was being pioneered by candice owens herself for it to be getting this much pushback. in reality, it's just a bunch of black kids who were bullied and share similar experiences (being told their interests were "white people shit," and therefore, they aren't black enough)
i think the reason this conversation actually gets pushback is because, in reality, some of the people who participated in NBKs origin stories are in the conversation. there's a slight undertone of "you deserved it, you're grown now, get over it" which i feel like is inappropriate if we're trying to discuss a commonplace experience for NBKs.
on the other side, i do think some NBKs were genuinely weird. do i think they deserved to be bullied? depends on how much of their weirdness revolved around trying to conform to white-ness.
if they naruto ran around school, sure, leave them be. it's weird, but it's whatever. if they had an idea that they were "better" than other black kids because they had interests outside of "fighting, doing drugs, etc.", then yeah. you deserved that, lol...

"WAS THIS YOUR TRAP TO MAKE ME FALL INTO THE ENDLESS PUDDLE OF THE ELTARIAN WAR????? because i think it worked"
Truly, I think my brain can't help but want to draw people into the fact that the Eltarian War was absolutely NOT perfect...but see how many things could be made better with the fandom's help? So much potentional~
Also, I'm glad we agree about Billy's hair. To me, his hair is like Tommy's ethnicity. Some artists are on the same page, and some of them think that he has not grown since the Forever Rangers special. He is SIXTEEN, not FIFTEEN. It's been over a year. Hair grows back--STOP DOING THIS.
Broken Rocky and Adam might be new future toys to play with~ I don't know when, but I'mma do it eventually.
The Red Lady, is Grace Sterling's Grid Ghost/Billy's sleep deprived delusion in the aftermath of trauma. It's kind of up in the air.
I think Zedd was trying to be Meta, but I can't be sure. He might have been keeping this in his back pocket for later to tell Zartus "I told you so" if Zordon hadn't gutted the fucker.
I myself screamed at this panel. You wouldn't be alone there. It's so weird and so much in keeping with Power Rangers I had to pause from reading it to laugh.
I honestly found the Eltarian soldiers threatening Alpha with death to be especially funny since not only did they NOT get to melt him, but he sent the drones he built to subdue DRAKKON on them. One K-O for each of them, it was great.
I also love Marco Renna's Bulk and Skull--they're so soft and delicate, yet ultimately strong. The following art is my dynamically inclined for taping an invading force get into a brawl, but I like them with Ernie here. They're so smooth~ (and yes, they're taping Matt, which is very much a bonus on our end ^^)
Blue lady is Candice/Zelya, yes; but it's less about her as it is illustrating all the Eltarians AROUND her. They obviously know this is bullshit, but are going to be incredibly annoying the whole time. Like, dude, grow some backbones.
Yeah, the bald thing is weird, but I assume they had to have some OTHER particular qualities other than blue skin, or it wouldn't level out. They are high up in the intergalactic pecking order for a reason, and looks are not one of them.
The Empyreals in LITERAL viewing range of blowing up TWO locations that Bulk and Skull CAUGHT ON FILM. I have no idea why the writers won't allow them to put two and two together, like, "Hm, they blew up Promethea, but why all the way out there? Maybe we should check it out?"
Although they did get rounded up by alien soldiers with weapons to record Zartus in his "greetings" for claiming earth, so I suppose they were delayed...
(I'm just gonna assume the angry old general man for the memes is pleasant at least? Because Zartus is a sociopath, so I have a feeling the approximation is all visual ^^;)
I CAN'T HELP IT ABOUT GOLDAR! When he's not being a blood thirsty little bitch, he's actually kind of a cutie. Look at his widdle tail~
YESSSSSSSSSSS I love that little imagine of Bulk! One of my top favorites in this series. Look at him, he's so bebe!
Glad to give a good recommendation during your break! (but seriously, if you imbibe, start from MM #11 and PR #13, because the rest will give you a headache)
Just gonna toss some random PR at you and see what sticks now that you're out of hibernation:
MMPR #121 is out and I....hate it:
I really, really, really want to be happy that we get to see Adam and Rocky and some character development in the wake of their possession, and get an entire issue based around Billy, but it all really just goes downhill from here. The only nice thing I can say is that Hendry Prasetya's art has gotten very smooth and I quite like it compared to previous chapters.
However, revisiting old Dual MM and PR chapters has made me happy finding little gold nuggets around that actually speak to true personality:
Next to Dan Mora, Marco Renna mighty be my favorite artist for this series. At least I can stand to look at Zedd with this style.
And also: THIS ☝🏿☝🏿 I miss this kind of thing.
I know we've all had fun throwing rocks at the Eltarian War Arc, but I cannot be the only one that sees the VERY EASILY streamlined version of events where this would have been perfect for Identity Reveal, Action Survivor, Big Damn Heroes, Big Ego/Hidden Depths, The Chosen Zero, Karmic Jackpot, Kleptomaniac Hero, Chekhov's Gun, Everything is Trying to Kill You, Strolling Through the Chaos, and an Establishing Character Moment tropes for...our babies Q_Q Honestly, so much fanfic possibility. Wish I could figure out how to make it work...
Also, just random pics of the minions being CUTE.
AYIYIYIYIYIHFRBHJTFBRVDCENDFR
This is the best thing i could've gotten coming out of hibernation, tbh. THANK YOU.
what the FUCK have they done with Billy's HAIR. Why do they look like THAT. (They've drawn Adam and Rocky beautifully but wtf billy.)
Feeling SO bad for adam and rocky they look BROKEN 🥺
Who's the lady in red?? Is she a ghost?? Can nobody else see her??
Zedd looks very overconfident, and is talking about how overconfidence will be the end of them... hmmmmmmmmm
i really like Zedd's art style! Marco Renna does a GOOD JOB O.O
But seriously wtf was that with Billy's hair.
i think i screamed at this. THIS IS CHARACTER <3
7. THEY HAVE AN EXECUTION ORDER TO MELT ALPHA???? i know it's supposed to be a serious scene but THAT many eltarian soldiers for one alpha, it's making me laugh awdhydfsvfadwfrgt 8. BULK AND SKULL BULK AND SKULLLLLLL!!!!!!!! HELLO BABIES!!! I love this style for them, they look so CUTE and smushable and cheek-pullable. Skull being depressed about Candace and bulk distracting him and cheering him up AND THE WAY THEY RUUUUNNNNN *wipes stray tear from eye* BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN <3
9. who is this man. why does he look like that girl from hinger games. 10. did they melt the alpha yet??
11. THIS ART STYLE. FOR THEM. YOUR HONOR I LOVE THIS PANEL (and they're shooting Matt. Lol i love that) 12. The empyreals?? IS THAT A BLUE KATAPPA 13. Jailbreak blue lady is Candace, I assume?? (She'd have looked prettier with blue hair, tbh. Why couldn't they just make zordon the bald eltarian. Why'd they have to make ALL ELTARIANS bald????) 14. Bulk and Skull are literally interviewing aliens. I don’t know how amazing THAT is, but also i cant stop laughing at the image of Mr. Blue katappa in my head.
For reference, this is Katappa.
Angry old general man who is one of the biggest memes here.
15. ERNIEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 16. "Honestly, so much fanfic possibility. Wish I could figure out how to make it work..." <- you say, let me read this arc. Then I'll yell at you about it.
17. WAS THIS YOUR TRAP TO MAKE ME FALL INTO THE ENDLESS PUDDLE OF THE ELTARIAN WAR????? because i think it worked 18. GOLDAR!!!!!! Kim going "saved by gOlDaR?? I’m gonna need a minute" *cackles*
19. Taking a minute to appreciate THIS. How CUTE. AUGH. 20. and Goldar in that veryyyy last panel. BRO. GOLDIEBRO. I FEEL YOU. it's the downfall era for ALL of us. WHY MUST WE SUUUFFFERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
i have so many thoughts here awdsfghbdfjsvns I NEED TO READ THIS ARC!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU AUGMENTT ASDNRGHJFDSCSEJDFG

Candice may have broken my heart, but that doesn't mean everyone is going to be like that. Countless people have risen from the depths almost out of nowhere to make sure I'm doing ok. And it's nice, having people I can talk to when for a long time I did not. I'm very thankful for the people in my life and I couldn't repay you enough. It sucks when one of your best friends breaks your heart but it's not the end of the world. Besides, ever since Candice has moved out there have been a significant decrease in bugs all over the house, there is no garbage, I haven't had to clean up after an animal shitting or pissing through the house. I also got to throw out a bunch of things that she left behind, which gives me s o much space to work with in the house noe. For once I'm not fuckin embarrassed to have company over, I'm not afraid to hang out in my house because it isn't filled with garbage. Is this what it feels like to have your life start clicking into place?
I appreciate Phill and Candice both being stepping stones in my life because without them, I wouldn't have been able to find this peace. It feels better with them gone, but if it wasn't for them teaching me just how dirty and vindictive your friends can be, I wouldn't have learned what I did.
#candice is now in the same boat as phill#haha same hat#friends can and will bresk your heart#just a matter of if you are both grown enough to talk about it#candice is not grown yet#but thats ok#they will#but not with me#goodbye candice and thank you for being my stepping stone

Legacies is Garbage
The thing that annoys me most about Legacies is that it doesn't seem to realise it is part of a bigger universe. That the Vampire Dairies and The Originals came before it and have established characters. The fact that Caroline is not there is a big deal that can't really be overlooked anymore. Alaric 'died' and her daughter turned into a vampire and yet she's nowhere to be found. This is an actor issue sure but they knew that Candice didn't want to be a part of the show when they made it and they should have calculated for this. Because honestly the fact that both Lizzie and Josie and Hope are all miracle children and yet all the grown-ups in their life don't give a shit if they live or die. What! why are the Mikaelsons coming in now? Why. But all accounts Hope grew up in the Salvatore school with the Saltzman family. Is bullshit! I don't believe for a second that Hayley didn't live close to Mystic falls. The fact that Elijah died and left Kol and Rebekah to take care of Hope when he was the one who fought for her before her parents make no sense for his character at all. The fact that Rebekah and Freya were not their day one when the monsters started attacking the school is bullshit. This was meant to be the safe place she lived in to prevent her from having to go through all the shit that they went through. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE. It makes me hate Characters that I grew up loving like Caroline and Rebekah and Marcel. Also, Aurora has so many good points and I hope she gets tristen back. I don't get why she's the villain here like what did she do wrong.

AOT girls + Hange reacting to ‘deez nuts’ jokes.
[modern AU]
this isn’t a request but it’s funny so, here you go as my first post. Requests are open ! reblogs are okay ! this is a repost since I moved acc !
cw/ kind of suggestive on yelena’s
Annie Leonhardt: She would look at you with a whole lot of judgment for making such a joke in the first place. Expect a light punch in the arm or a pillow thrown to your face after said joke.
“what do you want to eat?” Annie asked, looking down at her phone as she proceeded to scroll through her phone. You both had been out all day and had both arrived at her house bit late.
Just as you were gonna answer, you suddenly had a grand thought come to mind.
you moved your body back to rest against the back of the couch, crossing your arms over your chest as you let out a light hum.
“hmm, how about DN?” you smiled at her, her expression suddenly turning into one of confusion as she looked up from her phone.
“what’s DN?”
“DEEZ NUTS ! HAH !” You laughed in victory.
Annie wouldn’t even respond. She just looked at you, her eyes squinting and eyebrows furrowed down.
She even tilted her head a bit, trying to understand how the joke was funny.
“Really-?”
“Sheesh, tough crowd.”
Mikasa Ackerman: she would be genuinely confused at first because she didn’t understand who candice was. poor girl would actually think someone named candice was an actual person in your life. you would have to explain the joke.
Mikasa and you both would be hanging out at the library with connie and sasha when the opportunity had risen.
Connie had been joking around with you and sasha as Mikasa had been studying with the small chaos, using it a background noise.
it was actually also Connie telling you to make the joke in the first place, he had been getting everyone else with it but he hadn’t had the opportunity to catch mikasa off guard yet.
So, you did. “Mikasa.” you leaned over to her side, Connie and Sasha were already laughing and giggling like idiots across the table.
“hmm?” she asked, looking up from her laptop and over to you with a the most genuine expression. “what is it?”
You couldn’t back down yet !
“Do you know candice?” Her expression faltered a bit and look a bit confused.
“You never spoke of a candice to me before- Who’s candice?-“
“CANDICE DIC-“
“Lower your voice-“ Mikasa would interrupt you, your confidence almost instantly dissipating in the little pause between you both.
“Now, who’s Candice-? Is she someone from your class-?”
Connie and Sasha bursted out into laughter when the joke couldn’t even come out of your mouth. How could you continue now?
Sasha Braus: You can’t outplay her in these jokes, she knows them like the back of her hand. She always manages to flip the joke onto you. almost always ends up with her laughing at you.
You both had gone to go out to eat so you both had been just sitting in her truck, her hand resting in yours as you both waited in the drive-thru line.
You had been trying for a good minute to catch her in these jokes. It’s not like you would do it all the time but, you knew you were getting close to getting her back. So you found your chance.
Casually, you began to start up on another conversation. hoping, you could catch her finally.
“Sasha, You never really did tell me. Do you prefer tapes or cds?” you asked as you turned to her, playing with the wristbands she wore. Sasha didn’t take the bait.
“Oh? I thought I told you on our first date. Remember? I even told you I was huge fan of D.” She responded casually.
This was what suddenly caught you off guard.
“I never even heard of a singer named Dee-“
“DEEZ NUTS”
“god fucking damn it, sasha-“
Historia Reiss: She would just let out the biggest groan and just be like “Reaaaaally?” it’s funny. She later try to get you back but she would fumble on her joke and say it wrong. Eventually, she would get frustrated and just go “Man, whatever-“
it was an easy opportunity with Historia, especially now. She was more focused on playing animal crossing than anything else really at the moment.
She was resting comfortably in between your legs, the back of her head just resting against your abdomen as she ran around her virtual island.
“Hisu.” You couldn’t help but start laughing at your girlfriend’s impending doom.
Her hand movements paused slightly to tilt her head up to look at you. “hmm?”
“I heard you had a little crush on Venessa Paradis?” you questioned.
“I- what-?” Historia immediately sat up at the sudden accusation. “who the hell said that? who the fuck is Vanessa?”
“Pair a deez nuts !” You caught her and with that, you suddenly got a pillow to the face.
“REALLY? THAT’S LIKE THE THIRD TIME THIS WEEK-“
“YOU SHOULD’VE LEARNED FROM YOUR MISTAKES, DARLING-“
Ymir: Ymir doesn’t even give you the satisfaction of even answering questions. it’s usually gonna be like “If it’s another deez nuts joke, I swear-“ sometimes she will just tease you for the fact you still make those jokes.
Ymir often took you out for lil drives at night, since usually during exam season you both barely get to see each other. Just some light music playing and you both just enjoying each other’s company.
Of course, though during your usual catch-up conversations. You decided to pull another joke on her.
“Connie has been telling me you’ve been into imagine dragons lately? what’s up with that?” you questioned.
Ymir just looked at you, she let her lips press together in a little thin line as she just let the silence grow between you. she just looked at you as if you already knew the answer.
“you know, I’ve laughed at funnier jokes hisu’s niece had told me.” she said, looking back at the road ahead.
“low blow, ymir.”
“blow on deez nuts.”
“YMIR-!”
Pieck Finger: She just kinda looks at you with a lil doe eyes. Sometimes she conflicted between saying “wow, you really said that.” and “wow, that was actually kind of a good one.” isn’t one to ruin your fun but doesn’t mean she can’t judge.
Pieck had just gotten out from her exhausting classes. She wanted nothing more than to just visit you and lay on you, let you just hold her as she napped for a bit of the day.
When she had arrived to your dorm, you could easily see that the day had taken a toll on her energy.
After tossing her bag to the ground, Pieck made her way on over to your side of the dorm room and crawled onto your bed to take her spot on top of you.
“Pieck, my love, darling. move a bit, I’m watching the Yankees vs Expoz game.” You asked, finding a more comfortable position. You would let your hand rest on Pieck’s lower back as your eyes turned back to the small tv you had.
Pieck’s head lifted up to look at the tv, somewhat interested. “Who are the Expoz?”
“EXPOZ DEEZ NUTS.” Without saying, she would just get off of you and go take her nap with her back turned to you.
“I- babe I’m joking-“
“nope- lost your chance.”
Yelena: Yelena doesn’t really care for these kinds of jokes. Sometimes they will just kinda fly over her head or she will just roll her eyes and continue on with what she was saying or doing.
Yelena and you had been getting both getting ready for a small gathering that she wanted to go to. Just her, you and some friends. It was to celebrate for finishing off exam season strong or something like that.
“Do you think this top would look nice with these pants?” she asked, holding up a white and blue stripped button up and some black pants.
“it’s just casual wear, right? then definitely, but make sure you don’t leave it unbuttoned like you usually do. I’m tired of seeing waitress ladies look at you.” You answered. You stepped closer to her, letting your arms wrap around her waist.
“Ah- is that jealousy I hear in your tone, babe?” she asked, her tone teasing as she leaned down to gently press her lips against the corner of your mouth.
“I don’t know, maybe it’s Ligma.”
“Well, whatever it is. I kind of like how it looks on your face.” she whispered against your lips, her hand dropping the button up onto her bathroom counter before letting it hold your jaw.
“I- ahaha- We have a gathering to go to, love.”
“hmm.. we have some time before then.”
Hange Zoë: They finds them absolutely hilarious. Kinda like Sasha, sometimes they will turn the joke onto you. Won’t actively make them but they will catch you sometimes.
You both were at the grocery store. Hange had a always had grown into a habit of forgetting to buy groceries so, when you came over to their house and saw that their fridge was borderline empty- you had to pull them to do some shopping.
“Ah- WHY IS MILK SO EXPENSIVE NOWADAYS?” They would groan out loud as you stayed by the grocery cart.
You watched them come back with a gallon, putting it in the cart with the other produce you both had gathered.
You knew hange didn’t like shopping so, to lighten the mood, you decided to joke around with them a bit.
“Milk is expensive but have you seen the price of fermented succondese?” you asked, leaning on the bar of the cart.
“What the hell is that?”
“SUCK ON DEEZ NUTZ !”
It was always pleasant to see Hange’s face go from surprised to laughing after the joke finally processed through their brain.
“AHAHAHAHA, THAT’S A GOOD ONE, Y/N. HAVE YOU HEARD THE ONE ABOUT GOBLINS THOUGH?”

"I know! I honestly thought Christine, Cherry, and Ben were the last of it. Then Cassidy came. Then came Alex and Aaron. Then Shane and Jason, and then finally Julie and Caden! It's been crazy how much we have grown." spoke the blond male as he gave a small laugh. If you had told him a few years ago that he would have a family that was so big and consisted of so many different types of people -- he would have never believed you. Still, he wouldn't trade it for the world.
"You will have to meet everyone one day! It may take a while to get through everyone but I know they will be excited to meet you!" exclaimed Slade, excited at the idea. He knew it would take a while to get through everyone, but he knew everyone would love Candice. As she handed him the bag, he gave a curious look as he looked inside.
Seeing all of the contents, he gave a bright grin as he looked back up at his friend. "Thank you so much! I love it, and I am sure everyone else will too!" Slade happily chimed as he gave Candice another quick hug. "I have some stuff for you too! It's just all at home right at the moment. Do you want to head over to my place to get it? Oh have you eaten yet?" asked the blond, just realizing what time it was and that it is possible that Candice hadn't eaten yet.
a soft giggle left the blonde’s lips as he tapped her nose playfully. he always had a way of making her feel better, no matter how lousy she felt or what it was over. she could physically feel herself relax as she realized he wasn’t upset about her not being able to be around for a while. listening to him tell her about the things that had happened while she was gone, she grinned up at him. he always had such a bubbly, carefree personality that made her feel like nothing else in the world mattered. like she could take on anything that came her way. seeing the photo of caden and julie, she grinned. “and here i didn’t think your family could get any bigger!” candice said with a playful tone, gently nudging him. “but they’re both so beautiful! i’m so happy for you guys!” she grinned. suddenly it dawned on her she was still holding the bag of goodies she had brought for him and his family. “oh!” she exclaimed with excitement, holding up the bag. “i brought you and your family some things from my trip!” she grinned. inside the bag were all sorts of toys, postcards, and other goodies she thought he and his family would enjoy.

Smh. Where do you even begin with this? Their relationship has been played out on social media since the jump. I will say this. He does have a point in why does she keep wanting to be private but has zero problem with being recorded or pics being taken but if he posts her she gets mad? What is the end goal of this marriage? More kids? I’m lost and they both seem insecure and lost too. The quotes and constant back and forth on IG are beyond childish. They need to both delete social media and go about whatever they are trying to do. I feel bad for his kids bc they have an absentee father who is selfish. Barely sees them but I guess he feels financial support is him doing something. It’s embarrassing for two grown adults to act like this and let all of it play out on social media.
We have always talked about Grant/LA and their brand of social media bullshit. They may be the most blatant of PR and yet they still manage to be less toxic than what Candice and Fuckboy are doing. Make it make sense.

Pinehallow Summary & Character List
This is my main WIP, if I'm complaining about characters doing whatever they want, this is them.
Pinehallow Summary-Monty, an eleven year old boy who has spent most of his life traveling from place to place with his in-demand lawyer mother, Irene, is sent to live at his uncle's horse ranch because she thinks he needs roots. Used to nearly everyone but his mother not being around long enough to get to know, Monty is more than a bit uncertain about this. But in scrambling to find his place in a town different to anything he's ever known, he finds friends, both human and animal, makes discoveries, and even manages to foil a plot against Pinehallow Ranch itself.
Character List
Monty (Montgomery) Cade Waller- Main character, 11, white. Monty is curious, bright, and more than a little awkward. He has a tendency to state the obvious, which can be endearing or annoying depending on your perspective. Big vocabulary and grown-up way of speaking because he’s spent more time around grown-ups than other kids. He’s quietly stubborn, particularly when it comes to being told he’s wrong when he knows he’s right. Insecure about socializing and friendships because of constant moving and traveling. Can’t hold a grudge for the life of him, even when he likely should. He likes bugs, birds and turtles, would rather read nonfiction than a story. Fills lonely afternoons with sketching, nature sketching on the ranch.
Irene Waller- Monty’s mother, 36, white. Irene is a powerful corporate lawyer, either full of energy or exhausted, never in between. She loves using words to sway minds and deciphering documents to find exactly what the opposition doesn’t want her to find. Sometimes Irene wishes she was using her skills in more meaningful ways, but also really likes the money, the traveling, and the competition. Has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of show tunes from musicals. She has a hard time letting people get close. Would stab someone for her baby, but knows it’s better to teach him to stab for himself. Only partially joking. Dolly Parton is her hero, and as much as she loves her music, it’s Dolly the business woman and Dolly the philanthropist that she strives to emulate.
Keith Waller- Monty’s uncle, 34, white. Horse Rancher. Keith loves working hard and getting dirty, and if he’s not exhausted at the end of the day he’ll be looking for something else to push him there. Otherwise he gets antsy. Loves animals and absolutely will not tolerate anyone mistreating any of the animals on his ranch-ordinarily he’s very careful of his size and strength, in that situation, all bets are off. Times that by about ten for any of the ‘barn rats’ that help around the ranch for riding lessons/time. Loves romantic comedies and telanovas and doesn’t care who knows it. Keith doesn’t read a lot, it never came easy to him, but if he’s taking a long trip he’ll always check an audio book or two out of the library instead of just relying on the radio.
Juniper - Keith’s goddaughter, 15, white. She has a calm, confident personality with a smile for most everyone she meets. If she doesn’t have a smile for you and it isn’t because her head is in the clouds over a girl, you’ve probably earned her scorn and will be ignored as much as possible. Juniper raises rabbits and it’s taught her patience, and a lot about unfairness when a kit doesn’t make it. She helps out with riding lessons at the ranch in exchange for riding time of her own, and has become a fixture, spending more time there than she does at home, and when she can get away with it, school. Loves sunflowers and her sunflower comforter is probably her most prized possession.
Nell - Caretaker/cook for the ranch house(would cooking lunch for the workers still be a thing on a modern ranch?). 38, white(?). Not about to put up with nonsense. Will make you cookies if she doesn’t have to put up with nonsense. Please. At one point she wanted to be a chef and has a year of culinary school under her belt, but quickly decided the super fast paced and competitive environment wasn’t for her. Anything that was making her hate one of her favorite things that fast could not be good for a person. She intends to live a long, long life and that kind of stress can just walk right out of the door. Loves to go on long walks, often into the hills (BLM land) behind the ranch. (maybe she was taught/took a class on foraging, and teaches Monty to find wild onions and stuff? But this would mean *I* have to learn about foraging in Idaho.) This leads to a contented, if often silent, companionship between her and Monty, who desperately wants to explore/record/sketch everything about the natural world of his new home, particularly the parts that are off limits to him without an adult along.
Ray- Family Friend/Co-Owner of R & M General (designed to feel vintage, but shiny. Bit of a tourist stop now, they decided to lean into it.), 50, Black. He uses his background in chemistry to make amazing looking candies and chocolates, using that to deal with a time he used it in less pleasant ways when he was in the military. He never expected anybody outside of his small town, or maybe the folks at the county fair to make so much fuss over them. This might embarrass him, if he weren’t so delighted. A cheerful man with a dreamer’s heart, a magazine once referred to him as a small town Willy Wonka. He dotes on his wife, often making and gifting her small surprises. An amputee in honor of my Grandpa (missing left leg at the knee, possibly missing one arm as well, but I’m not sure how that would affect candy making.). Has certain parts of his past he just doesn’t talk about.
Mavis- Co-Owner of ____ with Ray, 48, Black. Fierce and kind in equal measures, Mavis believes in protecting what’s hers, and as far as she’s concerned the entire town of (oh my god, it needs a name) is included in that. Mavis is very selective about the battles she fights, but when she chooses one she throws herself in whole-heartedly. On several committees around town, she’d be on more, but then she wouldn’t have enough time to really get into the work of the ones she loves. She knits in her limited free time, often while listening to the news, but sometimes opera. Has started knitting stuffies in the shapes of the more unusual candies Ray makes, it’s silly, but fun, and tourists and the local kids love it. Still head over heels for Ray, even though his often dreaming about things for ages instead of just doing them is also still baffling to her.
Leanna - Juniper’s sort-of girlfriend, 15, Vietnamese. Quiet, a little cynical, but very empathetic. She avoids the news because it’s that or be mad and want to cry all the time-until she hears about something she can’t not research, and goes on a 24 hour google search and learns far more than is probably good for her about a species going extinct due to logging in prohibited areas, or genocide being covered up by claims of violent uprisings. She loves manga and comics. Leanna sometimes tries for a cottagecore* type aesthetic, but mostly thinks it's too much work. She’s starting to worry about what she’s going to do with her future, and people telling her that she’s only 15 and doesn’t have to worry about it yet is NOT HELPING.
*even though cottagecore isn’t a thing in the early-mid 2000s this is maybe/vaguely set in. Shh, let me have this. Anne of Green Gablesesque maybe?
Winnie - Leanna’s mom, 45, Vietnamese. Widow? A little ditzy, but a lot loving. Everyone in town is convinced she’s the stoner type of hippy, but no one minds as she’s someone who truly wants to know how you’re doing when she asks and strangely almost always has very spot on advice. She’s rarely on time anywhere, but that’s because she’ll have stopped to talk, and often to help, whoever she’s run into. Leanna and her bicker over this when she’s late picking her up. Always wears bright colors. Loves Agatha Christie books. Calls everyone, even people 50 years older than her, hon.
Logan - Juniper’s stepdad, 40, white. Kind of a jerk, but most of the jerky things he says are actually jokes that fall flat or have simply gotten old. Tries really hard, like *really* hard, but has a tendency to get annoyed if people don’t appreciate his efforts right away-more in his personal life than professional, possibly because of his profession. A contractor, hard worker, loyal, has worked for the same company since he was twenty even though they don’t often treat him right. Sometimes tries to buy people’s affections. Wants to have better communication with Juniper, but it’s gotten really hard the last few years and he’s never quite sure why.
Candice - Juniper’s Mom, 39, white, works at a nursery that sells seedlings and baby fruit trees, has a cheerful, calm personality, but a lot softer and more lowkey than Juniper’s version. Very house proud, but has a ‘maximalist’ approach to decorating-everything is in its place, but there are places for lots of things. Loves spending time outdoors, but would rather spend it tending her garden than hiking or riding, preferably with a cup of tea by her side. On the weekends, a fruity beer or wine instead. Wants to go on one of those train rides where you get to drink wine, eat canapes and try to solve a mystery, thinks Winnie might be a good candidate for someone to go with her.
Ura - a ‘barn rat’, 12 and a half, white(maybe a Czech immigrant? 2nd generation?) . A cheerful, rough and tumble boy who is always climbing things, and often being told to stop when he gets too high for other people's comfort. Ura is fearless when it comes to physical feats, but has a fear of ‘slimy’ things like worms and frogs. He has a thick layer of pudge and a big appetite, but is athletic and strong enough that anyone bullying him over it would be doing it at their own peril. Not that he’s the type to start fights, or even finish them most of the time. Doesn’t feel he quite fits in with his family, who are all more serious, reserved people. Redwood is his favorite of the horses, and Keith has all but given up on telling him that sitting on the floor of Red’s stall to talk to the horse isn’t exactly safe.
Elliot - Ray and Mavis’s son, Black, 19 and a college student-maybe/probably at U of I. Lives on campus, but comes home at least a couple weekends a month. Has an older car that he and Ray fixed up together, that is his pride and joy. Quiet, with an irreverent sense of humor that he unleashes somewhat at random. Interested in robotics, engines and mechanics and generally has some project he’s working on, a piece of which may or may not be in his pocket. Often has oil, grease, or ink on his hands, either from working on or designing a new project. A bit of an overachiever, he can spread himself thin trying to live up to all his responsibilities at once. He’s best friends with Randy, a friendship his parents want to disapprove of, because the few times Elliot’s gotten into trouble not only was Randy there, but 99% of the time whatever it was is Randy’s idea, but never quite manage too.
Randy - Handyman at the ranch, mixed race Hispanic and white, 21. Technically head handyman, because the old head retired six months ago, and is a little young/inexperienced for the job, but he’s not the type to back away from a challenge and has risen to the occasion beautifully. Loves rock and metal music, and spends a lot of his free weekends at concerts, the ones crammed into little venues and bars where people are practically on top of each other and the beat is so loud and solid it throbs through you, connecting you to everyone even before you hit the mosh pit, are his preference. He’s been working at the ranch since he was 16, and feels like he has a claim on it, not afraid to speak up if he thinks a decision Keith is making isn’t right or that he isn’t taking something important into consideration. Can be a bit wild when he’s not being the responsible one, definitely doesn’t always think before he acts.
Alma - Local artist/worker at R & M’s, Hispanic, 25. Alma is a painter and poet, a confident young woman who’s figured out that half of surviving as an artist is being your own agent/a salesperson as well, and in addition to several shelves at the R & M that hold postcard prints of many of her pieces, both the coffee shop and cafe have some of her larger paintings displayed, and she always has a booth at the Saturday market, though the majority of her sales come from her website. Alma is cheerful, and likes to tease, and growing up the middle child of four brothers, is very able to hold her own in verbal sparring. She’s close with her family, still living with her parents, and while at first her father was dismayed at her choice of career, he now hands out her business card to basically everyone he talks to.
Miriam - Nell’s Mom, white, 71, a little deaf, speaks loudly, partially because of the deafness, partially because she spent too long letting other people push her around and when she hit about 50 decided she was going to be the one talking over people now. She’s earned it. Age has made her more delicate than she likes, bruising and scraping easily, but she’s determined to do most things for herself. Those that are beyond her she has no problem loudly ordering someone else to take care of. Volunteers a lot, often fosters kittens for the local animal shelter. Used to chain smoke, quit when Nell was a teenager because she kept leaving pictures of diseased lungs everywhere. Still uses the candy ones as a substitute.
Places
Unnamed Town- Somewhere in Latah County, Idaho, where there is not already a town in the way. Around 200 years old and has grown and shrunk and grown again, and currently has a population of about 12,000. Having grown out from a traditional mainstreet, _______ no longer has the western style boardwalk seen in old pictures, but it does have a large cluster of local businesses and ‘hot spots’ still along that old main street, a coffee shop, a diner, a combination bookshop and independent library, a hardware store, a bar, a few places I haven’t thought of yet, and of course R & M General. There is a historical barn half a mile or so away from mainstreet that has been converted into a theater/meeting hall/dance hall, and a community center was added onto it in the early 90’s. During the summer there is a farmer’s market on the property every Saturday. The elementary school and junior high are all on one property, several miles out of town, because the majority of families live on farms, ranches or small rural properties rather than in one of the neighborhood clusters in the town itself. The junior high is 7th, 8th and 9th graders, in a newer two story building, and the elementary school is divided into lower and upper elementary with the bracket shaped building basically being cut in half, K-3 on one side and 4-6 on the other. The high school is outside of town on the other side by several miles, and actually serves kids from another town(s) as well. There is also a trailer park with about forty units, not exactly sure where it is yet, but Miriam(Nell’s Mom) lives there. There is also an animal shelter, a vet’s office, a cemetery, and a couple churches, and I’m sure more things to come.
R & M General (working title?)- Ray and Mavis’s store, a general store with a candy focused twist. A vintage Pepsi sign, neon still bright, and a charming green glass juke-box filled with hits from the 1940’s onward grace the front porch of the R & M, along with a long bench that locals are encouraged to use for a spell or to listen to a couple songs, provided they can behave themselves (teenagers arguing over who their favorite member of the rat pack is might be amusing, considering they were already ‘mom and dad’, or at least older brother and sister, music by the time Mavis and Ray were teenagers, but when they get loud it also gets annoying.). The store itself still has the original wooden counter up front and built-in shelves along the walls, but all refinished and polished to a high shine. A mixture of display types going down the middle of the store, barrels and baskets filled with skeins of colorful yarn and cloth or Mavis’s knitted stuffies(and during winter sometimes socks and mittens), other sewing and craft supplies, display racks with local arts, postcards and carvings, sometimes wind up toys made by Elliot, and of course many, many displays of candies and chocolates. They also have a lot of dry goods, and some of the simpler candy types have little instruction booklets and the ingredients it takes to try out making them yourself stocked in the same display, drink coolers, and sometimes have local produce available. Basically, they have a bit of everything, except for building equipment/home repair supplies, and that’s because of the hardware store across the street.
Pinehallow Ranch-A sprawling 100 acre ranch in Latah County, Idaho where the Waller family has been doing something or other with horses for four generations now. Originally it was a horse breeding ranch, but Keith and Irene’s grandfather felt the money was in training horses, and offered boarding as well, and Keith has continued to build that up, offering lessons for a variety of styles, ages, and skill levels. Butting up against BLM land that allows additional grazing and trail riding, the ranch has four pastures, a large corral, a medium sized indoor arena and two horse barns, one for boarded horses and one for the ranch's own stock, and an equipment barn, an old bunkhouse that is mostly used to store feed-though Randy has slept there when in between places, mostly unbeknownst to Keith-and some smaller equipment sheds, placed where they’re needed. The main house is an L-shaped ranch house with a porch that goes around the entire long front of the house with a large herb/kitchen and rock garden arranged around that. There are treed pockets scattered here and there, left alone as the rest of the ranch was developed, but the creek Monty and Juniper sometimes hang out at is on BLM land, as is most of the forested area around the ranch.
