so me and my friend are onto season 4 of X-files now and we got to the csm-centric episode, right. and when he put the sniper rifle up from the window at the start I was like "whoa there. jfk assassination much?"-- and then the flashback starts and wouldn't you fucking know it, csm was the one who killed jfk??

this made me joke about how "what is he, the dark version of forrest gump or something? lmao" (ie. being present at a bunch of historical happenings), and then it seems like I was right because after that, he killed martin luther king too... aND TH E N towards the end, they make a fuckin forrest gump reference???

X-Files re-watch: question #1

These will be in random order as I've finished re-watching the show and these are just coming to me randomly:

How did Scully become so unsure of her place in the X-Files, and as Mulder's partner, in the short time between Diana Fowley's arrival in The End, and the events of FTF?

Not only is Dana Katherine Scully a confident, self-assured woman, she spent the episodes leading up to the end of S5 saving Mulder's ass. She did it a lot before then too, but especially at the time before Cancerman burned their office, she totally saved the day in most of their cases, in Kill Switch, Chinga, Folie à Deux, All Souls etc.

My only response to this is either:

She did it out of love for Mulder, and the misguided notion that he'd be better off with Diana helping him in the X-Files because Diana was more "out there" (*vomits*).

She was worn down by the powers that be taking everything away from them, and felt she didn't have the fortitude, or the resources, to continue, hence doubting her ability to be of help to Mulder (and of course changing her mind post the whole "if I quit now, they win" speech).

I do love the writing of the show in situations like this, because both issues get rectified during season 6, Diana losing any and all influence over Scully (between Scully and Mulder's relationship slowly changing, and Diana's duplicity rearing its ugly head). And Scully gains more strength to continue through the various cases they managed to solve and the people they saved between working under Kersh and watching the Consortium burn down.

I guess what I'm saying is, I think her despair was played up a bit for the sake of the movie, but they managed to support it enough, script-wise, to make it make sense.

I'm binging the early seasons of The X-Files. I'm up to the episodes where Scully gets abducted.

I expected bigger shoulder pads on women, and bigger phones, but I was taken aback seeing Scully write a check to pay for groceries.

I absolutely believe Mulder tortured himself listening to her cry for help on his answering machine over and over again, thinking if only I'd been home when she called, if only I'd refused her help once we were reassigned, if only, if only, if only.

I'd forgotten Cancerman was in the meeting about her abduction. William B. Davis did such a great job being despicable in that role, I have a hard time seeing him as anyone else when he's in other shows.

Everytime I hear Red Right Hand it reminds me of Barry listening to it in the car.

Mulder wondering who gave Scully's address to Duane Barry when I can now see the look on Krycek's face says he did. I think on first watch I was initially suspicious of him, but by the time this happened he'd won me over, so I was very surprised when he hit the tram operator.

It must be so strange for Vancouverites to constantly see their landmarks in TV shows.

Poor Mrs. Scully. In a just few years her husband dies, her youngest daughter is abducted, her oldest daughter is murdered, and her youngest daughter gets cancer.

I think Cancerman knew if Scully died, Mulder would kill him. The only reason he didn't finish strangling Barry was he needed information from him.

Cancer men are fucking sociopaths!!!

Like I noticed that every cancer man I met tries to manipulate me in some way.I have trauma from one he sexually molested me at 9 and before probably.Not every cancer man is a sociopath but they need to do some soul searching fr.

My first serious bf was a cancer a total psycho!He got mad at me and he smashed a glass in his hands than proceeded with eating it and cutting his neck and hands with it.

And a lot of cancers are serial killers!

They do have a lot of potencial to be amazing people but a lot of them go the wrong way because their trauma It's just how their mind reacted to it.Anyways thats concludes it.
