Sid still grinding in the summers. While Nate had his recovery summer he looks like a joke in comparison to sid

The pressure of being captain for team canada for upcoming 4nations & Olympics must be part of what's driving him

His trainer has trained a lot of downhill skiers, you have to be fearless, so training in the pool relaxes your mind. Keeps mum about what he does in the pool. No he does not wear a speedo😞

Lehky's dad vs. mikko: "mikko had a 4 or 5pt game, was fired up, said that to media, then apologized to lehky like 3min later. They're really good friends"

Went to Europe this summer: no one really knows me in america, especially there. Like being off grid, wake up to no texts bc of time change, super relaxing

Cogs: met him thru Andy at vail. Lit up when it was brought up about trading for him in '22. He is management now. Around the rink, always in the gym, hands in his pockets, walking around, talking to guys

"the league is evolving really quickly right now so it's good to have a bridge" like cogs who recently played bw team and mgmt

Communication is better in the league. Players aren't terrified to talk to GM like he was as a rookie when seeing sakic. Thinks it's important for players to know where they stand. Old school players think fear can be good, yea sure, but you can't scare ppl into playing well for over 8mos, 82 games. Prefers this new way

Mitts: super comfortable, quieter, came to a team where he knows nobody, he looks great, expecting an awesome year from him

Faceoffs: lmaaooo still saying he needs to practice that. Hurts his wrist when he practices them. Needs to be around 52. Was at 46 last season

No league bonus$ for winning the Hart

Preseason games, re: all these preseason injuries: doesn't agree with veteran rule (how many mandatory games they have to play) but important for prospects and rookies, you need to be able to evaluate them, they can look good in practice but different story in games.

For vets, you want to play hard, show a good example "played one last night, lost 6-1" and" you see the doughty laine injuries and it's like i could throw my season away for a glorified practice essentially is all it is"

tbh i can't stop thinking about our election next year. it's the first one im going to be voting in and a big part of me is scared that the conservative party will win due to the fact everyone's sick of trudeau. i don't like him either. jagmeet singh is clearly the best choice for this country but voting for the ndp is essentially throwing away your vote. next october vote for trudeau. he's the lesser of the two evils. i know a lot of canadians who think that we'll be fine because we aren't in the us but pierre poliviere (along with the other 119 conservative members of parliament) is openly anti-choice. i know we have a ways to go before the election is held but please keep the tragedy that has happened in the us in the back of your mind when voting. even if it seems like the most morally correct way to go, voting third party/not voting at all is going to fuck us over in the end.

How i feel after finding out tokio hotel is not making a concert in canada

The new Canadian women’s pro soccer league announced the national broadcasters for league games and it’s huge to have this kind of partnership with the biggest broadcasters in the country for a brand new league. They’re following a lot of what the PWHL has done for their first year which I love and I’m so excited for this league to kick off next year! 🇨🇦⚽️

I'm just going to say it- now I'm not saying that it's going to happen yet- a lot of cities still have to finish the count and could flip important states blue, but just in case I actually do not think I can stay in America if Trump wins this time. I mean, maybe I can, but my dad can't, and he can't go to Canada alone.

I didn't want to talk about it here because I didn't think I need to, but my dad has cancer. It got caught in February or March, I think. (I don't feel like looking at the texts right now.) He- for some fucking reason- didn't start chemo until a few months ago. His chemotherapy is going to continue into 2025.

He's getting it paid for by Medicaid. Part of Project 2025 is them getting rid of Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.

He doesn't have a job. He hasn't worked in years since he had to get a surgery done- he's been living with his brother and his brother's wife and kid. He definitely can't work right now. He can't afford fucking chemotherapy without health insurance.

So if Trump wins this time and my dad's insurance is stripped away from him before the chemotherapy is finished (and that's if this first batch gets the cancer) then he'll either have to take refuge in Canada (at least until his chemotherapy is done) or he's going to die.

I don't believe there's going to be a mass exodus to Canada, but I do think Canada is going to tighten their border anyway, probably in collaboration with the trump government (both before and after the conservatives sweep Trudeau's party from power). They're gonna crack down on "medical tourism," make it so Americans can't get abortions in Canada, probably by making the procedure too expensive, requiring it to go through insurance so the states will know about it and prosecute you when you get home. This will only effect poor people.

If things get REALLY bad stateside, if the humanitarian crisis escalates to full scale brain drain, then Canada will close up shop entirely, no entrance without visas, no asylum. They already have a third-country policy with the USA, meaning that neither side accepts refugees from the other You can't, for example, go from Syria to Canada to the United States, you'd have to stay in Canada. You can't go from Honduras to the US to Canada, you'd have to stay in the US. Whichever country you get to first is the one you have to stay in. This would almost certainly be used to deny entrance to Americans seeking asylum. Canadians will treat Americans the way Americans treat Mexicans. "This is America's problem, not ours, why should our taxes pay for them to stay here?"

Again, rich people (especially rich white people) will have it easy, be able to find jobs and stay long term, but poor black and brown people, trans people, pregnant people, they'll be bussed back south and charged by the feds. Republicans already want to make it illegal to cross state borders to subvert them, do you think they'll go easier on people fleeing internationally? And Canada really has no obligation to help anyone, least of all "entitled Americans who have no one to blame but themselves," even though the people who need help are the victims.

Whatever you think the absolute worst is, it won't be that. It'll be bad, maybe just as bad or worse, but in a different way you can't even imagine. Who knows? None of my predictions have ever come true, even the ones I hedge. I was way off about the election itself, so the aftermath is completely unknown, I'm just thinking what would be the most advantageous to Republicans (they tend to get what they want).

I have never been there obviously, but I'm genuinely considering going, both for Canada and for Dashcon

It's such a fascinating part of Internet history, but back in 2014 I was not ready yet to cross the Atlantic ocean, but now, I have crossed it 3 times already, so I am ready

And if it flops then I'll just do touristy stuff in Toronto, I hope it snows there in July 2025 too, because I hate summer
