Still a month away from watching these two be their adorable goober selves together:

I keep telling everyone around me I'm going to be insufferable for a while, with Jimin and Muse coming soon and then these two together, week after week ... makes me giddy. Sorry, not sorry.

We'll get teasers. I'm going to squee over all of those as well. Again, sorry, but not very sorry at all actually.

All of it takes me back to when I realized JK's 2022 Vlog was going to be centered around camping. Honestly? I was a little surprised. He has never come across as the outdoorsy type to me. But he'd never had the chance to express much of what interests him outside of BTS and outside of what we saw on various content through the years either!

This series of vlogs helped us see each member doing things they chose to do on their own and helped kick off the "solo" era in 2022.

Jungkook's delight in stopping at Korea's version of Buc-ee's and buying gas station food and eating to his heart's content was oddly satisfying. Maybe because I take great pleasure in doing such simple things too, after all, the best part of a road trip is stopping to buy snacks along the way, am I right? The service area where they stopped is called the Gapyeong Service area on the Seoul-Yangyang Expressway (60). These places are like a food court/mini mall. Just like Buc-ee's.

I am already laughing at the thought of he and Jimin stopping at a grocery store to buy deli pizza in Connecticut... IT'S GOING TO BE WOEFULLY SUBSTANDARD I FEAR!

In his 2022 vlog, Jungkook helped set up the camper he slept in and cooked and sat around the campfire drinking. And we know in past Bon Voyage seasons and other content, they've pitched tents and slept outdoors. All of these things he must have immensely enjoyed if we might be seeing them again soon with Jimin.

Then there's the recent story going around about someone spotting he and Jimin returning their rental car in Japan and learning Jungkook was driving... Jungkook got to drive on the "wrong" side of the road in Japan! He put that international driver's license to use finally!

From the preview clip the other day, it appears Jungkook also got to practice his motorcycle handling skills. Handling a Harley Davidson is a bit trickier than handling a smaller motorcycle. Those things are heavy. And it's a little different when you have a passenger sitting behind you. The two Harley helmets we saw sitting on the edge of his sofa last year... yep, he's had practice.

TMI: I was today year's old when I learned that motorcycles are banned on major roadways in Korea.

Are we going to see how Jimin scraped his knuckles while snorkeling on Jeju?

And that nekkid-in-bed live when Jungkook was begging him to come over and Jimin told him to look at the photo he sent... did Jimin get a black eye from being elbowed when they were sleeping?

And as I was running through my blog posts, I realized all of these things I previously said last year:

Me wondering if their trip to Japan was unstructured and spur of the moment...

I wondered if Closer Than This was a pre-release to an upcoming album...

I'm thankful to Tae for bringing JK along with his Wooga friends to that ski resort back in 2022. We can't know if JK had ever snowboarded before that but it appears he loved it enough to want to stick around long after they left him there. And now he had the chance to do it again with Jimin! I know they had so much fun together. At the beginning of this year, I pointed out some fun facts about Sapporo...

Skiing? Snowboarding? All of the above?

And save this for future reference, it's the onsen resort image we heard about and I mentioned in a weekly Bangtan report this past February....

Maybe none of the above will be accurate, but thinking about how much fun they had anyway has me very excited for August 8.

Thinking about DP x DC Jason Todd being a revenant again. Here's my scenario. Jason gets called that by some ghost. He's like "what the fuck is that supposed to mean?" He's heard the term before but he doesn't know any actual lore. He googles it. He scrolls past the Leonardo DiCaprio bear movie. He opens the wiki. Sees the words "animated corpse" and gets a chill diwn his spine. He starts reading the first section.

He closes Wikipedia.

That night he has a nightmare that his family buried him, again, this time with precautions. He wakes up in his own grave, full of stones, too heavy to move, to scream.

no, i am not thinking about dick and tim's relationship and how many awful, tragic moments of dick's tim has had a front row seat to. that night at the circus when dick's parents die. when his wedding with kory was ruined. when he kills the joker. when dick asks who adopted him if there is no bruce wayne and is met with silence. when donna dies. when dick breaks down in a burning building because blockbuster is dead and it's his fault. when dick is so full of self-loathing that he tells tim to forget he ever knew him. when bruce dies. when damian dies. when the worst happens.

i'm not thinking about how tim met bruce in a deep low and it colors how he views him. but dick? he has seen dick fall apart and hit rock bottom and it has never changed who dick is to him- his hero, his role model, his brother.

i'm not thinking about how unconditionally tim loves dick. how undeserving dick feels of tim's love. how bruce's death pushed them apart when they needed each other more than ever.

i'm totally not thinking about them

Something about zoro's reaction being the first one shown after luffy won his battle.. zoro sighing in relief and smiling softly at his captain... zoro glancing at sanji for a moment only to return his gentle gaze to his captain (need to look at his captain fondly just a lil bit longer!)

Also something about zoro being the closest person to luffy during his fight?? because of course, zoro'd be the first one to act if something real bad happened to his captain during the fight (just like luffy during zoro's fight against mihawk) like, yeah, sure, whatever-

Alamogordo Public Schools Celebrates Physical Education & Sports Week, A Look Back in Alamogordo History

As Alamogordo Public Schools celebrates National Physical Education and Sports Week, AlamogordoTownNews.org looks back at the history of physical education as a part of the formal curriculum. The 1960's was a turning point in Alamogordo in establishing a formal PE curriculum. Coach Bob Sepulveda and a group of educators and coaches were invited to join APS in the 1960s to establish a formalized PE curriculum. Alamogordo Public Schools ranked as one of the top 10 best public school systems in the nation in the 60s. Paid more than most and recuited the best teachers from California, Colorado and New York at the time. Coach Sepulveda was brought to Alamogordo with a mission to go school to school and transition play ground time to a formal physical education program and that propelled him into creating a program that was a model for other school systems around the state and nation.

The catalyst to launch this program in Alamogordo and eventually around the nation, was propelled by the influence of the military, at the time, and by orders of President Kennedy.

According to Joel P. Rhodes, a Professor in the History Department of Southeast Missouri State University...

"President John Kennedy’s inability to move congress on one his signature issues – massive federal aid to education – indirectly led JFK to embrace The President’s Council on Physical Fitness, a program educating the nation’s children while making kids stakeholders in his vision of a New Frontier.

What began as a modest, and largely forgettable, Eisenhower initiative to close a fitness gap between affluent – meaning flabby – American children and their more Spartan – meaning muscular – communist counterparts in the Soviet Union, Kennedy made it unquestionably his own within weeks of taking office. The president’s more hands-on approach, plus consistent public identification with the council’s mission, breathed life into this physical education effort while at the same time further reinforcing his popular association with youthful athleticism.

Without the power to actually mandate a national exercise program, the President’s Council instead created a well-rounded curriculum which supplemented existing Physical Education in schools and the usual sports activities of youth organizations like the YMCA. Beginning in the 1961-1962 school years, the Kennedy council launched an extensive national publicity campaign promoting its fitness directives which included the president’s Marine-inspired, fifty-mile-hike-in-twenty-hour challenge, along with a number of memorable popular culture tie-ins.

Cartoonist Charles Schulz contributed “Snoopy’s Daily Dozen,” an exercise manual featuring Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang.

And then there was The Music Man composer Meredith Willson’s ubiquitous 1962 workout classic, the “Youth Fitness Song” (known to this generation as “Chicken Fat”). For untold millions of young athletes wearing canvass PF Flyers sneakers (known to later generations as Chuck Taylors), “Chicken Fat” – sung by Harold Hill himself, Robert Preston – echoed through cavernous gymnasiums via tinny public address systems to become the enduring soundtrack of grade school soft ball tosses and jumping jacks. “Push up. Every morning. Ten times! Once more on the rise,” Preston’s infectious Broadway-style cadence went, “Nuts to the flabby guys! Go, you chicken fat, go away!”

Youthful enthusiasm and broad buy-in generated by the President’s Council were childhood’s answer to Kennedy’s grander challenges: asking what you can do for your country, paying any price, bearing any burden, supporting any friend, and opposing any foe."

For junior citizens with limited means to wage Cold War, determined adherence to these prescriptive measures can be appreciated as a sort of sweat equity.

Thousands of children wrote Kennedy, keeping him abreast of their fitness regiments.

Back to Alamogordo, Coach Bob Sepulveda and his assisting coaches would go school to school and work with faculty and administrators and implement a formal PE program based upon the presidential blueprint outlined in the presidents council on physical fitness.

The reality is Alamogordo Public Schools since its founding, assumed a role of state leadership in competive sports clubs.   

Alamogordo, New Mexico Public Schools Was an Early Interscholastic Sport Program Adoptee

Alamogordo High School began an organized sports program in 1912 for Caucasian boys offering PE, Track & Field and Basketball and Football. It integrated sports programs with Hispanic kids in thr mid 1940s, and African American kids in 1950. 

Beginning in 1913, the authorities of the University of New Mexico believing that one of the great needs of the High Schools of the state was an opportunity to meet, at least once a year in athletic and other contests, organized the University of New Mexico Track Athletic Association. A track meet was held in the spring of that year at Albuquerque, and two high schools, Santa Fe and Albuquerque contested for the banner.

Although the beginning was small, a great deal of interest from across the state was aroused.

Alamogordo High School first competed snd won its first state athletic medals in 1916/17 School Year.

The wins were in Track and Field via the High Jump and the Triple Jump. The system also sent a debate team to compete as that was considered a sport at the time. Alamogordo's sports program from 1916 forward grew and set the standard for the state. 

By the 1960's the logical next step was to implement a curriculum of physical education per the Kennedy mandate. Educators, such Coach Bob Sepulveda took the bull by the horns implementing curriculum, upgrading facilities, launching the state of the art track and field, and creating a legacy of one of the winningest programs in state competitions. 

By the early 70's, with title 9 requiring equal funding for women sports, Coaches such a Marilyn Sepulveda (First State President of Track and Field Coaches Association) , Debbie Scott (Alamogordo graduate and First Womens State Champion Volleyball) and others, girls entered into the fold of formal physical education programs and formal competition.

On the back of that history, beginning in 1916, expanding to the 1960s and 70s, under the foundational influence of the Coaches, Rolla Buck of the 50s, the Sepulveda's from the 60s thru 90s, the sports and physical education programs of today exists.

This weekend Alamogordo Sports will again make history sending competitors to Albuquerque to compete in state competitions in track and field, golf and more.

oh. kirishima is that guy that tries to go on date after date after date and it just. never works out.

so genuinely into it, even has butterflies ! but he's at home getting ready and buttoning up his shirt and he takes a last look in the mirror and — he just wishes it was with you.

his date that night is so great and lovely and funny, but there are little moments when he looks at their face and feels a deep ache in his heart because he shouldn't want for someone else while a wonderful individual is sitting right there in front of him. but he does. thinks about what you would order to eat, to drink, if you would let him hold your hand on the way back to the train station, if you'd let him kiss you goodnight. just a small one, even.

and it doesn't help when he returns to work the following monday, just for you to gently knock on his office door, all bright-eyed and curious.

"so...how did it go? are we hearing wedding bells yet?"

his date was great. 10/10. he laughed and he joked and he blushed at their flirting and even texted them afterwards to make sure they got home alright. just as he's done with all the previous ones.

"nah," kirishima rubs the back of his neck and smiles lamely. hopes you read his disappointment as how the date didn't go and not over who it wasn't with. "plenty of fish in the sea, right?"

"aw, kiri, you'll find someone that's great for you soon, i know it!" you frown at him and he feels the back of his eyes sting, his chest grow heavy with all the things he wish he could say to you.

"yeah, no, you're right!"
