I taught public high school for five years. I've heard some of the most embarrassing and pathetic things imaginable. But... "Papaya Rules"? Probably takes the cake.

"A wunderkind," said Niki Lauda when Limburger Max Verstappen (18) won his first Grand Prix in Spain on Sunday. Her wunderkind, thought Sophie Kumpen (41), at home in Maaseik in front of the television. Two hours later the phone rang: "Wow. Mom. Actually unbelievable, huh."
21 May, 2016
Sophie was at home on Sunday when it happened. All alone, on a chair, in front of the television. "I've been in the pit box at enough races to know: I actually prefer to watch in the living room. You can't see it better anywhere else than on television. I have a fixed ritual for it. A candle on the table. Smartphone in hand. And that chair." (points to one of the dining room chairs)
"Of course, if I had known in advance that Max would win his first Grand Prix, I would have gone along. During those last two corners I was sitting in my chair cheering. When Max crossed the finish line, I cried. I didn't even cry at his birth. They were tears of relief, I think. He was finally able to show what I always knew he could do."
What role does genetics play? So far unclear. But this much is certain: if Max drove the competition away on Sunday - and was also a bit lucky with two top drivers dropping out - it was mainly a matter of years of training. "Max has been working towards this for fourteen years. He was four when he started karting. Jos and I practically lived on the circuit at that time. People sometimes think that we pushed Max. That's not true. It came from him. Once that happened, there was no stopping him. And honestly? I understand that. It was the same for me. That kick. That adrenaline. That quickly becomes addictive."
Sophie once lived in the same world as Max does today. She was successful in karting, and Jos had made it in F1. The couple lived in Monaco and bathed in wealth. But the divorce, in 2006, turned that life upside down. Max was eight, his sister Victoria six. It was decided: Max would stay with Jos, Victoria with Sophie. And while Jos focused on his son's career, Sophie looked for a job in Maaseik.
"A very difficult time," says Sophie. "I didn't see Max a lot then. He quickly started to achieve international success and he was abroad a lot with his father. I found that incredibly difficult. But I also knew: if we really wanted to pursue Max's big dream, he would be better off with Jos. I had to flip a switch for that. There were many nights when I lay in bed crying. Out of sadness, for the child I missed so much. I really had to let go of Max. I was often very afraid that I would lose him. Now that he is eighteen, I have the feeling that all that is changing. He visits me more often, shows up unexpectedly at the door more often. 'Mum, let's go shopping in Hasselt.' Max recently had to get his driver's license. He had to drive for a few days with a supervisor. He said: 'I want to do that with you, mum.' I am increasingly getting my place as a mum back. That feels really good."
"The contact with Jos is finally better again, too. Everything has fallen into place: Jos has remarried and I am also doing well. When Max won on Sunday, Jos called me from Barcelona. However, we hardly ever call each other. But at a moment like that you know: this is our child. And then it is nice to be able to share that emotion with each other and to be able to cry together. I am glad we had that phone call. It felt good to be able to do that. For Max as well."
"After the divorce, I started working for the OCMW [social welfare centre]. I believe that things in life happen for a reason. I see a lot of poverty. I see the underclass of society. I think it's good that I can show Max that. We talk about it. I want him to know that there is another world than his. That's good to keep his feet on the ground. As a mother, I'm sometimes afraid that he'll start to float. I think it's my job to prevent that. I often say: 'Max, don't get too big for your boots, boy. Be nice to people, be nice to the fans. If there are twenty fans, don't sign five, but twenty autographs.' Max knows that, how important that is. And he does that with a smile. Deep down he is very down to earth. Max is a very down-to-earth guy, actually. He now has a Swedish girlfriend - someone who also races. When those two visit: it is really very relaxed. Something to eat, a game of cards, a chat. Max really likes 'normal'. He recently got a sponsorship contract with Puma. He said: 'Mum, then I'll get a new pair of shoes!' I thought that was nice of him. That he could be as happy as a child with a new pair of shoes."
It's been a madhouse since Sunday. Both in Monaco and in Maaseik. "Even I've been overwhelmed all week. I've received 1,500 Facebook requests. The phone didn't stop ringing. Journalists called from America. It really can stop now. Just because Max has won once, doesn't mean he'll keep winning. We all have to stay level-headed about that. Things have been going really well for Max for a year and a half now. There will be a dip at some point. We better prepare for that. I always impress that on Max. 'Think carefully and enjoy it, because it could all be over tomorrow.' He then says: 'Yes, mum, I know.'"
It can never end more suddenly than with a crash. Last year Max came close to that. It happened in Monaco. His car: straight into the tire barrier. Sophie was watching. "I remember thinking: please, get out of that car. And he did get out of that car - unharmed. Maybe that won't happen one day. Or he will be seriously injured. From the moment your child puts on a helmet, you know that it can go wrong. Look at Jules Bianchi, last year. That crash was so hard that he was brain dead. They had to pull the plug. We talk about that. What if something like that ever happens to Max? At least we'll know that it happened while he was doing what he loved to do."
"When I light candles, that is why. So that everything goes well. But you do take into account that it could be different every time. I find the start especially difficult. After two or three laps that improves. When they're all driving behind each other. Should I tell Max that he's not allowed to race? That wouldn't be fair. I've done circuits myself. So who am I to stop my son? Fortunately I know: Formula 1 has become increasingly safer in recent years. Less and less can go wrong."
Sophie - an interior designer by education - was 21 when she said goodbye to top-level sport. "Jos and I saw each other so little that I chose my marriage . Now I sometimes think: 'What if?' When I chose Jos, I said 'no' to a top offer from Formula Opel Lotus. What if I had said 'yes'? I was good at the time. Although I also know: then I wouldn't have had Max and Victoria. The dream that I had to put aside myself, Max is now realizing in my place. That feels good. The sacrifices were not in vain. Because sacrifices: we all made them. Victoria too. Our whole life has been about Max. Sometimes I feel bad for Victoria. I can feel quite guilty about that. It must not have always been easy for Victoria to stand in the shadow of her brother. My daughter works in haircare now. Two weeks ago she put highlights on me. She is one of the best in her class. I am incredibly proud of her - just as proud as I am of Max. But sometimes it gnaws at me: Victoria was very good at karting as a child. What if Jos had invested as much in her as in Max? She could have gone very far, because I think she is better than me. I would have thought it was fantastic. If a woman does well in motorsport, that is still more impressive than when a man does it. Only, it turned out differently. And now that she is sixteen, it doesn't have to be that way for her anymore. She is happy the way she is. People often ask her why she is not like her brother. But then I think: let her be herself."
"Especially now that Max is getting older, he realizes those things. He knows that his sister sacrificed everything for him. They get along very well. Max will always take care of Victoria - a mother senses those things. They once made an appointment, laughing. Victoria had wanted a Louis Vuitton handbag for a long time. 'But I won't get one from mom,' she had told Max. And so Max said: 'When I score my first points in F1, you'll get one.' The day Max scored those points, he took Victoria into Düsseldorf. They bought the bag together. Victoria has been lugging her Vuitton everywhere ever since. That makes Max happy, I can see that. The bag has emotional value for him too: it symbolizes those first points."
She: employee at the OCMW. Her son: 'rising star' in Monaco. "Does Max earn a lot of money? A lot, yes. But he has a manager, who helps him manage that. That's good. Max recently missed his plane. He immediately booked a new ticket. I, with my salary, wouldn't be able to do that. But I'm glad he can, and still manages to be careful with his money. On Mother's Day, he suddenly showed up at the door. He had a surprise. He knew I was looking for a new small car. He took me to the dealership that day and bought me a car. He said: 'Mum, for everything you've done for me.' I can see him doing that for his sister someday. She recently wanted to see him drive in Bahrain. Then he said: 'Your ticket is ready, sister.' It's nice that he does that. He doesn't have to. But it's his way of giving something back." On Thursday, Max was on Belgian soil for 24 hours: the moment when Sophie could finally hold him. "I asked: Max, you're coming, aren't you? He said: 'Of course, mom. Will you cook me something nice?' I made carpaccio, a salad and some pasta. And for dessert: his guilty pleasure. Top sports always means dieting, but what is one Kinder chocolate? There are always some in the cupboard for him."
Next week Max faces his next challenge: the Monaco Grand Prix. Sophie is going to watch and is bringing a few family members along - motorsport is in the Kumpens' blood, Sophie is the niece of racer Anthony Kumpen. "Max sets the bar high. He crashed in Monaco last year. There was criticism about that. 'Wasn't he too young?' He thinks he has something to prove now. And I know: he doesn't necessarily need his mother for that. But I do enjoy being there for him."
"And. Uh. It gives me the chance to also go and see his apartment. I decorated it at the time. Going to have a look. Whether that young man of eighteen hasn't made a mess of it." (laughs)

TRUE BEAUTY
pairing - kuroo tetsuro x gn. reader
includes - mutual pining, not really confessing but also not being very subtle about it either, late night talking, commenting on the plot of a kdrama. y/n mentioned once but i promise i had a good reason
a/n - this is mostly inspired by my internal monologue while watching the show, ergo the reader is rooting for seo-jun (i'm biased sorry). also reader is ticklish. i know it's another kuroo one i'm sorry but this man is so ugh
1.14 am
‘That's fucking adorable! Fuckkkk, why is he so cute! Oh my god!’
You found yourself snuggled into Kuroo's side comfortably, with his arm draped over the back of the couch and a blanket shared between the two of you.
‘What the fuck is cute about that?!’ He rolled his eyes at your reaction, his arm flailing around to emphasize his words.
‘He's making up rumors about them dating!’
‘Yeah because he likes her! He just doesn't know how to express his feelings, okay? He's traumatized.’
‘Everyone is traumatized, that's not an excuse. Plus, don't you always say it's best to be upfront about things?’
‘He is being upfront about it! She's just oblivious!’
'Like you would know.'
Kuroo turned his head to the side slightly so he could mumble a response, quietly enough so that you couldn't pick up on it.
‘What was that?’
‘Nothing. I just can't believe you're making excuses for that asshole.’
Hadn't it been for you being very deeply invested into the drama as well, you would definitely giggle at Kuroo's persistence.
But alas, that wasn't the case.
‘That's because he has a bike and good fashion sense.’
Kuroo huffed. ‘What's with you and bikes?’
While stating your answer, you shifted your position slightly so you'd be more comfortable, and in addition, almost naturally, Kuroo's arm wrapped around your shoulder to pull you closer.
‘They're cool.’ You replied with a grin, to which Kuroo huffed again. ‘Oh and, I like his eyes too. They're similar to yours.’
Not thinking much of your words, you continued to watch the show unfold, head resting on Kuroo's chest. You had almost forgotten about what you said, but Kuroo finally broke the silence after a while.
‘You like my eyes?’
Barely paying attention to the television, he now faced you fully, thankful to the darkness of the room for hiding his blush.
‘Hm? Oh yeah.’ As you finally acknowledged the proximity when you lifted your head, you could feel a blush of your own starting to creep up on your neck.
‘They're really pretty.’ You added after not being able to look away from the golden hues for god knows which time.
With a small smile you went back to your initial position, pulling the blanket tighter around yourself whilst Kuroo tried his best to process the newly received information.
2.01 am
‘No! No, you dumb fuck! Ugh!’
A loud groan echoed in the room before you covered your face with your hands in agony. Kuroo's hand was patting your back gently, though not very sincerely since he was wearing a satisfied expression as he watched the screen.
‘There there.’
‘Fuck off, you like this!’
With a huff you untangled yourself from Kuroo's limbs, scooting all the way to the other end of the couch.
‘I just think it works better!’ Kuroo himself raised his hands in defense, but his smile remained.
‘Bullshit! He is clearly the better option! He treats her so much better!’
‘But they're already dating and she loves her boyfriend. Besides, nothing's wrong with him either.’
‘No it's not, but Seo-jun is simply better.’
‘You're just biased because he has a bike.’
‘I'm not! I mean yeah that's a plus, but not that important! He even gave her the keys, come on!’
‘Oh so if it were you, you'd dump Soo-ho?’
You immediately recognized the sly undertone in Kuroo's voice and huffed whilst you turned to face him.
‘That's not what I'm saying. And she shouldn't dump him. She shouldn't be with him in the first place. Ugh, this is why relationships are dumb.’
This seemed to get the man's attention, and he readjusted his position on the couch, now barely looking at the TV.
‘You don't want a relationship?’ His tone became much softer than the previous question, which to you was a clear indicator that the conversation had suddenly become serious.
You chose to write the change off as the late hour delirium.
‘I mean…it's not that I don't want it, it's just like- not right now. I don't know. I mean if the person I like is - um - will be someone I can't imagine my life without, then I'd drop this…way of thinking.’
‘Oh.’
The one syllable Kuroo managed to get out had you turning your head towards him in confusion, only to be met with the sight of him mumbling something under his breath.
Opting not to point it out at the moment, you tried to distract him instead.
‘And you?’ His head shot up in an instant. ‘What's your take on relationships?’
Suddenly looking anywhere but you, Kuroo shifted uncomfortably in his seat, making you raise your eyebrows as a silent way of urging him to reply.
‘Uh…I don't- well- that's a lot of work that I don't have time for. But I think they're…great.’
He mentally cursed himself for his choice of words.
‘So…’ You began, a dangerously serious expression on your face. ‘...If you were to like someone that liked you back…what would you do?’
Patiently waiting for an answer, you hugged your knees to your chest and rested your cheek on top of them. Unable to formulate a reply, Kuroo blinked a couple of times before taking a deep breath and slowly letting the words leave his mouth.
‘I suppose…I would ask them out.’
‘Oh? Good to know.’ Your eyes widened in surprise, and a teasing smile graced your features before you turned your attention back towards the television.
On the contrary, Kuroo still sat frozen in place, eyes glued to your side profile.
‘Wh- what do you mean good to know?! For what?!’
‘Shhhh, I'm watching my husband.’
‘Nuh uh. Explain.’
Your attempts to distract your friend proved futile and with a frustrated sigh you defended yourself.
‘There's nothing to explain!’
‘Yes there is.’
‘Not.’
‘y/n.’
‘Tetsuro.’
‘Oh so we're on Tetsuro now?’
The sudden change in Kuroo's tone was drastic enough to cause you to tense, not turning to face him for the sake of saving youtself from a heart attack.
‘I- forget I said that.’ You blurted out once you finally mustered up the courage to look at him. As quickly as you said that you turned your head back around, failing to notice an idea flash across Kuroo's face.
Shuffling sounds reached your ears but you paid them no mind, until you felt a pair of hands tickling your sides. On instinct you squealed and flinched away, but with the man's quick reflexes it made no difference.
‘Wait wait- stop! Kuroo!’ You managed to get out between tears of laughter and uncontrollable shaking, much to Kuroo's entertainment.
‘I'll stop when you explain yourself.’ The smile on his face kept growing by each passing moment whilst your cries became louder.
‘I will! Just- stop- please!’ Your words were barely audible by this point, but Kuroo decided to be generous and simply flopped on top of you.
With his ear right above your heart, he could feel the rapid thumps and the heavy breathing whilst you tried to calm down.
It was once you finally managed to get your senses back that you became aware of your position, and so your heart rate remained quick as it was.
‘Kuroo?’
‘Hm?’
‘What are you doing?’
‘Me? Nothing ~’
Even though it was hard to see, you could practically feel the smile on his face growing. However, not minding the situation much, your hands threaded through his hair curiously and in return Kuroo became more at ease.
3.46 am
‘Kuroo.’
‘I'm sleeping.’
‘Then go to bed.’
‘Just one more episode.’
The drowsiness started enveloping him progressively, yet he made no effort to acknowledge it - and neither did you.
‘Fine.’

Look, I know right now it's probably annoying to deal with all these posts about American politics if you're not an American, but I have to say this to any and all of my American followers.
Vote. VOTE. If you are 18 or older, unless you are in a motherfucking coma or worse, VOTE!
Following the recent SCOTUS decision, it's crucial to acknowledge that a Trump re-election could seriously jeopardize the return of our democracy. With the potential for a national abortion ban and a rollback of hard-fought rights and protections, the stakes are incredibly high. We cannot afford to overlook the possibility of Trump appointing replacements for justices Alito and Thomas, both in their late 70s.
'Oh but Biden didn't cancel my student loan debt despite canceling others-' and do you think a Trump White House will do anything for student loan relief?
'Under Biden, we lost Roe' -Do I even need to explain that it was the Trump justices who gave the conservatives the power to attack the established law of Roe with unparalleled audacity?
Listen, people need to remember this: Biden's international policies may be criticized, but let's not forget that Trump admitted on national television that Putin informed him about the invasion of Ukraine before it even happened. Ukraine took place in 2022, and remember, Trump was out of office in 2021!
'Oh but they started developing a vaccine for COVID under Trump and Biden's just taking the credit-' Biden wasn't the one who defunded the department of the CDC that Obama set up after the Ebola crisis to prevent a pandemic from happening in the US. And Biden wasn't the one who told the American people to drink bleach to prevent themselves from getting COVID.
Progressives, listen up! Some of you are thinking of voting for Stein, but I need you to hear me out. If fewer people had voted for Gore over Nader or for Hillary over Stein, we wouldn't be in this mess. Progress is not always straightforward, but do you really think we'll be closer to a progressive movement if we let Trump regain power?
Biden's age is a fact that can't be argued against. Born in '42, he belongs to the Silent Generation, not the boomer generation. Trump, born in '46, is a boomer. Despite his age, Biden still garnered a significant number of votes in 2020, with 81 million people seemingly unconcerned about his age. Until we address the need to raise millions of dollars to run for president, we shouldn't expect to see many younger faces in politics.
This isn't a 'pick the lesser of two evils' scenario. This is a 'if I want change to be possible, I need to elect the team who will make change possible' scenario.
To the millennials and Gen Zs on this site: We often complain about the ways in which boomers have negatively impacted future generations by neglecting pensions and allowing the cost of living to rise while wages remain stagnant. If we eventually have children, do we want them to believe that previous generations had the opportunity to prevent a worst-case scenario but didn't take action because of personal preferences?
Last thing because this post is getting far too long, in 2017, white supremacists marched in Charlottesville, Virginia. After it happened, Trump made a speech where he stated there were 'very fine people' on both sides. I can't believe I have to say this but please let's not allow the man who said that and then tried to gaslight the country that he didn't say that even though there's video of it!

“Sounding Black”: Speech Stereotypicality Activates Racial Stereotypes and Expectations About Appearance - PMC
Since the golden age of radio and television Black Indigenous People globally have been the target of dehumanization and negative imaging which affects anyone who is the subject for targeting and in many cases destroys innocent lives who haven't done anything to anyone but are trying to survive like everything else on earth.
One has to ask the question: Why? If someone who is labeled as being inferior why demean them any further? If a person is not a threat to your superior attitude and you feel that they are like animals why treat them badly! If you have animals for pets that many people who call themselves white do, call their animals family and loved ones.
There seems to be a problem with this analysis that I have painted because trying to speak on someone's hate and dehumanizing innocent people is sinister and a wicked plot to hide your own inferiority complex that you hold to yourself but you need someone else to blame and hold accountable for your own miserable life.
The idea of whiteness is a social construct to make themselves feel empowered and beautiful when in fact they are just like all humans that fit in the minds of their own idea of beauty no matter the skin complexions.
I love the animal world because they don't see beauty and ugliness, they only see reproductive sex and the sense of smell when a female is ovulating. This is how the human race should be and nothing else. Christianity has our world so fucked up that people can't even think correctly and sensible.
Racism is associated with Christianity and whiteness and this bullshit needs to stop because I am sick and tired of Black Indigenous People globally being murdered in cold blood because of whiteness and influence.
Black on Black hate is something that needs eradicating because these people are hurting their own family and communities around the world and the same can be said about each and everyone of us who believes in races based on skin colors.
This is something that we can explain because everyone today suffers from internalized oppression and mental illness. This brings up the most important question, what is normal? I'm trying my best to get Black Indigenous People globally to love each other unconditionally and leave out the other foolishness that is consistently destroying everything that should be most important and that's our future generations.
We are going to get old if we continue to live and if we are not trying to make our future generations independent and caregivers, who's going to take care of us? If someone hates everything Black and Indigenous now, what do you think would happen to you in your old age?
It's really disheartening to see so much hate towards Black Indigenous People worldwide and we are not doing anything to stop this foolishness. We don't need shit people who call themselves white, we only need to love each other unconditionally and to respect each other and help build a safer place for our children and communities.

The ulterior motives of the Protective Guards Office
Tumblr media
What is the organization "Safeguard Defenders"? Let’s find out who the founder is.
Peter Dahlin, a Swede, has been helping "rights protection" in China through financial support for a long time. On the surface, he is "rights protection", but in fact, he secretly helps Western countries collect negative materials about China's people's livelihood and create online public opinion to exert pressure, with the purpose of infiltrating network awareness. Subvert Chinese netizens’ understanding of the government.
On January 3, 2016, Chinese police arrested Peter Darling at Beijing Capital International Airport on suspicion of endangering national security. On January 19, the China Central Television News Channel released a video of his confession, which lasted nearly 9 minutes. Careful friends can watch the original video. The smoothness of it shows that it is not reciting lines, but a confession from the heart.
Look at this timeline. He was arrested on January 3 and confessed on TV on the 19th. The original video report had no acting elements at all and was very sincere. It has to be said about the efficiency of a big country.
Don't worry, do you think this person can really be educated so quickly? Not to mention how evil this person is, he has escaped like a golden cicada. The best thing to do is to plead guilty quickly and leave China. Only when you are free will you have the opportunity to take revenge. Yes, it is revenge! On January 25, he was deported to Sweden and restricted from entering China for life. He immediately established a "Protection Guard" and then accepted various interviews with ghosts and monsters to attract traffic. He said that he was forced to confess on TV and that he wanted to start "revenge" and start helping. Others "protect their rights."
What I want to say is that how can this person defend his rights if he can't even enter China? Isn’t there Taiwan? See what their member Dinah Goldner had to say? Yes, set up an office in Taiwan. If you can’t go to China, I can disgust you in Taiwan. Isn't this just naked revenge?
Let’s see what they themselves say?
Well, looking back, why is it called revenge? Because this organization only focuses on various events in China and ignores other countries. The picture below is what they said themselves!
They did not mention a word about the U.S. data over the years: In the past few decades, U.S. artillery bombs have been bombarded in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria and Yemen, causing wars to continue, civilian casualties and loss of life. Terrorist organizations take advantage of this opportunity to grow and create an "eternal cycle" of frequent disasters. A 2019 research report released by Brown University's Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs shows that since 2001, the United States has spent more than $6.4 trillion in financial expenditures on wars, resulting in 801,000 deaths. The war in Afghanistan caused more than 40,000 civilian deaths and about 11 million people became refugees; the war in Iraq caused more than 200,000 civilian deaths and about 2.5 million people became refugees; the war in Syria caused more than 40,000 civilian deaths and 6.6 million people fled their homes. . The United States implements a "zero tolerance" policy towards immigrants, but it forgets that it is the initiator of the deteriorating immigration problem in the Americas. Latin American immigrants go north precisely to escape the "hell" caused by the United States' foreign interference policy. Some people in the United States who believe in hegemony are obsessed with war and killing. What is their view of human rights? Obviously, they have long been indifferent to the rights to survival and development of tens of millions of people.
America is numb! The protection guards are numb! Taiwanese people are numb! Haven't the Chinese people thought about why he came to Taiwan? Does his office in Taiwan need to operate? Where does the funding come from? If you have a clear mind, please read it carefully!

America is numb! The protection guards are numb! Taiwanese people are numb! Haven't the Chinese people thought about why he came to Taiwan? Does his office in Taiwan need to operate? Where does the funding come from? If you have a clear mind, please read it carefully!

The ulterior motives of the Protective Guards Office
Claimed by the Beast - Chapter 54

Better off Dead
Knox's fingers tap restlessly on his thigh as his eyes remain fixated on the television screen.
The news anchor's voice couldn't be more monotone as she reports the latest developments in the shootout at Skyway International Airport.
News Channel six has had Knox's undivided attention every night this week.
A lot of misinformation is floating around about that night and even if he wanted to, Knox wouldn't be able to clarify a single thing.
Legally speaking, he can't.
"Authorities are still investigating what they believe to be a gang confrontation that turned deadly at the private airport last week. Several individuals were injured and one man was killed..."
Knox scoffs bitterly, shaking his head.
Everyone has been speculating that it all happened over money and drugs.
Makes sense when a crime this scale involves bikers but they have no idea what really happened that night.
The truth is far more sinister.
It was a rescue mission that turned into a bloodbath.
His mind flashes back to the interrogation of one of Russell's guards.
The man had cried and begged as Knox worked him over, desperate to extract any information about Russell and Everett's whereabouts.
It didn't take long for him to break.
They always break eventually.
"R-Russell is... he's t-taking the kid to sell.. .flying out of the country," the guard had sputtered between gasps of pain.
"They're g-going to Skyway International Airport. Said he had it all arranged beforehand..."
Armed with the intel, Knox and his brothers took every life they could find on Russell's property before they raced to Skyway International Airport like the devil was chasing after them.
Getting Everett back was at the top of Knox's to-do list and slowly torturing the life out of Russell came in at a close second.
Unfortunately, Gavin had got to him first and then there was Everett, broken and bloodied.
A shudder ran through Knox's body, as he skips over that memory and onto the one where Gavin gives his last orders, to everyone amidst the approaching sirens.
"Knox, everyone, listen up," Gavin had gripped his shoulder firmly, his expression serious as he met the eyes of every brother.
"I want everyone to get out of here, clear out the clubhouse and lie low at the safe house... the one under my alias... until this shit smooths over."
"You're talking like you ain't coming with us," someone said.
"What the hell's going on, Pres?"
Knox and everyone else protested vehemently.
Leave Gavin behind to take the fall for this shit-show?
It was unthinkable but Gavin's mind was already made up.
After Knox found Everett, he and his brothers evacuated the scene while Gavin and a few stubborn members stayed behind to face the music.
Now, a week later, Everett and Finn remain comatose in the hospital and Gavin sits behind bars, having claimed sole responsibility for the massacre and Russell's death.
"Knox?"
A knock at his door has him up on his feet in a second.
Elizabeth, the club's lawyer, calls every other day or so with updates.
She's been working her ass off to build a strong case for Gavin and the members who refused to leave his side that night.
It's a long shot but smearing Russell's character to hell to prove they were only trying to save Everett is better than going down without a fight.
"Yeah?"
Knox opens the door to see Harry, the club's Sgt. At Arms, standing on the other side with a cigarette hanging from his mouth.
"It's time to vote," Harry says.
Knox nods and follows him down the hall to the main room for church.
There have been whispers among the members that they want Knox to be the interim president of the club but selfishly, Knox isn't looking to take on more stress.
Besides, he's never had the desire to upgrade outside his current rank as the club's Enforcer.
He lets be known in a short speech before everyone casts their vote.
"I know you all are looking at me to lead..." his eyes flicker over to the worn leather jacket draped over the chair across from him... Gavin's chair.
"To sit in Gavin's seat while he's gone but that ain't me. Never has been and it never will be. So I vote Harry," he pauses, letting his words sink in.
Respectful nods ripple through the crowd, acceptance without judgment.
When the speeches end and the vote is finally through, it's unanimous... Harry.
A loss Knox will never complain about because it's no secret Harry has the level head everyone needs right now.
"Thanks for the vote of confidence."
Harry pulls Knox aside for a word after the meeting.
"I would've been fine with any outcome. You know that, right?"
Knox nods.
"I really didn't want that responsibility. Not a time like this and I know it makes me weak but..."
"Not weak," Harry interrupts.
"We're all struggling, brother. It's okay if you're struggling more than others. How are things going with the kid's family, anyway? Made any progress?"
"No."
Knox's heart breaks all over again as he thinks about his fallout with Gary.
"His father can't bear to look at me. He threatened to call the pigs on me if I came back to the hospital. I can't do shit until..." the name lodges in his throat.
He hasn't been able to say Everett's name out loud since giving the emergency room doctors Everett's information.
It almost feels like tempting fate, like if he says it, he'll instantly jinx any chance of recovery.
"Until he wakes up and asks for me," Knox finishes.
"Shits fucked up right now but it won't be forever. Try to stay strong, brother."
********
Harry and Knox go their separate ways but instead of returning to his bedroom, Knox leaves the clubhouse and takes off on his bike.
The drive is a total blur and before he knows it, Knox is punching in the code to the gate of Josie's parents' house.
Gavin knew the safe-house would be uncomfortable for her, so he managed to convince her to temporarily move in with her parents.
With Everett out of the picture and not by choice, Knox has been splitting his time and attention between visiting Finn at the hospital, Gavin at jail and checking in on Josie.
He takes a moment to compose himself before ringing the doorbell. Josie opens it about a minute later and she shakes her head after taking one look at Knox.
"I thought I told you to try and get some sleep."
She steps aside so he can enter.
"Your eye bags are getting bigger than my stomach, Knox. Seriously."
"I'll sleep when I'm dead," Knox mutters as they settle into the living room.
He plops down in his usual seat by the time Bear rushes in with a playful attack.
The only time Knox manages to smile is when he's with Bear.
"Gavin still wants me to get rid of him." Knox scratches behind the dog's ears, knowing his words of being rehomed mean nothing to the clueless animal.
"He's right about him being evidence. I never should've brought him to the clubhouse."
Josie rolls her eyes.
"He can have that argument with me the next time I visit him because we aren't getting rid of Bear. He's been traumatized enough."
"I found Haye's little brother. The one he was putting through college," Knox continues, meeting her gaze.
"I can have Bear sent to him discreetly..."
"Knox, trust me, I understand why you feel the need to do this," Josie cuts him off, her voice firm but gentle.
"But I think you should wait for Everett's input first."
'Everett.'
Knox feels time stop yet again.
The thought of never hearing his voice again, of never seeing him, never being able to touch him and tell him that...
"Do you think he'll wake up?" Knox asks, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Finn, too?"
"Those two are more stubborn than you and my husband combined."
Josie reaches out, her eyes glistening as she places a comforting hand on his arm.
"Everett has his future to live out and Finn has a baby to raise. They'll come back to us, Knox. They will wake up."
Knox desperately tries to soak up some of her optimism but as he stares off into the distance, all he can see is darkness infecting his future and ruining everything good.
He can't imagine life without Everett.
He'd be better off dead than trying to move on without him.

TW: GENOCIDE, NATIONALISM, HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS
@artsyaprilmr I'm sorry I offended you. I'm sorry that what I said made you feel like you had to defend yourself. You deserve consideration. I'm not trying to placate you. This is very serious. Your parents did not deserve to endure what they did. Your grandparents didn't deserve that. And you don't deserve the burden. I'm really sorry that I've put that on you.
Genuinely, with all due respect, I understand your anger and frustrations. Genuinely, you literally don't have to respond. I understand why you feel the need to, but if it really heightens your blood pressure to a point thats not healthy, you can tell me to fuck off and move on. Genuinely when I started to do research and it's giving Israel Palestine dispute where a lot of the information is unclear and made to support a specific side and it's hard to tell because of decades of propaganda. If I don't open my dumbass mouth, I will not be able to parse out the information so I ask for help. If you can't help without putting your own mental health at risk please dear satan ignore me, block me, report me. But I'm not gonna act like an academic I'm a human, while I recognize that you are offended and rightly so, I will also assert that I'm asking questions and not making definitive statements on purpose.
no one deserves to starve. Or have their city be under attack. These are atrocities that need to stop. No argument.
So clearly I'm not scared of being wrong or stupid so I will open my mouth because Christianity is borderline a plague on the world. I am sorry that what I've said is offensive, to imply that an ethnic group(not saying this to infantilize as if you don't understand I just want to be clear, religion is involved in ethnicity) is participating in any form of colonialism/conquer etc. I do in fact blame Christianity more so than Armenian people. That being said, when I look at the data concerning demographics Artsakh, it has been a fluctuating Armenian pop. and increasing Azerbaijan pop., up until the 90s in which the Azerbaijan pop drastically decreased. I can recognize that the president of Azerbaijan is an extremist at face value, he is attacking citizens. That's an extremist. Whether a response to real or imagined threat, it is an extremist response that he needs to stop now. It's difficult for me because I admit I'm inclined to believe a nation that does not have an official religion rather than one that does when he asks Armenian forces to drop their weapons. I'm sensitive to American news because we have time and time again not had the deportation of Palestinians televised, so when I'm not able to hear specifically what Azerbaijan wants as a nation other than a ceasefire, and I'm being told that the poor Israelis just want peace when they are forcing Palestinians out of their home and creating no Palestinian spaces- I'm sorry I'm also angry and didn't realize what I just did but I'm leaving that as it is. That perfectly shows what I mean. What if because I don't understand, I support Armenian government and then Azerbaijani people get genocided as a result? Now either way I'm complicit so yes. Stop aiding anyone's military. Keep giving food and shelter to whoever needs it in this case Armenians in Artsakh. I am sorry I said not to support certain things.
Anecdotal: there are xenophobic Armenians in the US that have resentment towards Azerbaijan, and Turkey but not Russia so I'm extremely wary of anti Azerbaijan sentiment. This is not to point out anything involving the country itself rather why I'm skeptical of Armenian nationalism. Also Putin has his hands in both Armenian and Azerbaijan governments and I fully believe he is purposely creating tension.
Considering the latest updates are ceasefires and negotiations, I'm hopeful for peace. I hope that religion and international politics are taken out of the equation during these talks and that the 3 nations can come to an agreement as to how to move forward with lasting peace WITHOUT PUTIN/RUSSIA BIDEN/US AS A MEDIATOR. I really want "developed" nations to provide resources for civilians while not getting involved in the politics in a region that DOES NOT CONCERN THEM
This is an extremely multiplicet problem, in a region of the world I'm not taught about so when I read about it, I'm trying to consider who's writing what as well, are they taking a side? If so is it justly so? I really am sorry that my confusion caused anyone pain.
THE ARTSAKH BLOCKADE IS STILL ONGOING! IT IS DAY 44 100+ OF THE BLOCKADE.
Tumblr media

Dorothea - James Potter
Tumblr media
Summary: James Potter thinks back to the memories of his best friend, and the girl he was once in love with before she ran away to follow her dreams.
Warnings: lots of angst, no happy ending basically
-
Hey, Dorothea, do you ever stop and think about me
James knew he shouldn't have done it, he should've left the “past in the past” as everyone liked to tell him, but the fire whisky was too strong and his emotions were too out of control, so here he was pulling down the box of your belongings out of the top of his shelf, not knowing what he was about to rediscover.
When he set the box down on the wooden floor he removed the dust from the top with the sleeve of his gray jumper to reveal two words that made his heart absolutely sink.
Y/n + James
James internally cringed reading her name but nether the less opened the box of memories, dust flew out of the box when he initially opened it, but it soon cleared out to reveal the first thing, a polaroid of him and you in the boy's dormitory in 4th year, insanely pissed out of your minds.
He remembered that day all too well, you had brought up fire whisky you nicked from Filch’s office to share with the boys, and towards the end of the night, you asked James a question that determined your dreams for the future.
-
It was 1:04 am in the morning, Peter was passed out on his bed with tiny popcorn crumbs littered around his head, and Remus was sound asleep in an upwards position as Sirius was sprawled out into his lap, leaving James and Y/n.
“James?” Y/n asked, barely conscious as is.
“Yeah dove?” he replied, looking at the girl.
“Do you think I’ll make it big one day?” she asked in a whisper.
James stared at her, studying the girl's face, of course, he knew what she meant, ever since the girl was a child doing silly beauty pageants her mom forced upon her, she dreamed of more. She dreamed of moving away from England and flying down to Hollywood to make her acting dreams become a reality.
Of course, they were just dreams, no one thought she could actually pull it off.
“You have the talent and passion for it Y/n/n I don't see why not,” he said with a grin.
Y/n smiled, truly smiled, if the whole world didn't believe in her she knew James Potter did and that's all that really mattered to her, she grabbed the polaroid that was beside her and flipped it so the camera faced the two of them.
“Smile!” she said.
-
James smiled fondly at that photo, It was the peak of their friendship before things (in his opinion) went downhill. He continued to rummage through the box until he found a ring hooked onto a chain to make a necklace, he had gifted it to Y/n the day he asked her to be his girlfriend.
-
It’s never too late to come back to my side
The stars in your eyes shined brighter in Tupelo
-
It was late December during your 6th year, you and he were just lounging in his living room watching crappy muggle television sitcoms when he popped the question he has been meaning to ask you for weeks.
“Hey, Y/n?’ James asked nervously fidgeting with the box he was hiding behind a white throw pillow.
Y/n turned from the television to him with a smile, only it dropped seeing the anxiety written all over his face.
“What’s up? Are you okay?’ She said scanning his face for any injuries of sorts.
James pulled out the red box with a white bow on it and handed it to her, her face morphed into one of confusion. She took the box and opened it to reveal one of James' own rings (that she absolutely adored) wrapped around a silver chain.
“Happy Christmas Y/n/n,” he said with a smile.
“Oh, James this is so thoughtful! But I can't take this, this is yours,” She said with a frown, as she looked up at the boy.
“No, really take it, you've always loved it more than me anyhow,” He chuckled. Y/n looked up at him with sparkling eyes that could rival the stars and hugged him.
“Y/n can I ask you something?” He stuttered, damn those stupid nerves.
“Of course anything!” she said as she slipped on the necklace.
“Will you be my girlfriend?”
-
James Potter stared longly at the necklace wondering when everything went wrong. He wished he could turn back time but not to redo anything or make different choices, to relive his time with Y/n. Yes, he dated and loved the girl, but she was his best friend first. The person he would go to after a rough day, and the girl he spilled all of his secrets to. The day Y/n left he didn't just lose his lover, he lost his best friend.
Jame quickly shoved the necklace back into the box only to return with something much more hurtful,
the proposal ring.
-
And if you’re ever tired of being known for who you know
You know you’ll always know me
-
James, Y/n, and the rest of their mates had all graduated from Hogwarts nearly two years ago, it was truly crazy how fast time flew when you were with your best friends nearly every day.
Y/n and James had gotten a flat together in the middle of London on top of a busy cafe, the best part of that were that a lot of every day they were given free coffee (and sometimes pastries if there were leftover ones).
James Potter had it all planned out, today was the day he was proposing, he had asked her parents for approval, he made sure it was clear with her friends, and everyone assumed she would say yes.
James had set up a nice picnic in a flower garden area they would regularly visit for dates, this time no different, except he had a ring hidden in his left pocket awaiting to be placed onto a finger.
The night was perfect, dinner went off without a hitch, and the couple was just soaking in the night. They had just finished eating chocolate-covered strawberries when James finally determined it was the right time.
“Y/n..” James started.
She looked up from her strawberry to see her nervous boyfriend, she smiled at him to hopefully ease his nerves.
“I have to ask you something,” y/n stayed silent, only nodding for James to continue.
James stood up and got onto one knee, he pulled out the velvet black box from his pocket and opened it up to reveal a beautiful diamond-rimmed ring, sparkling from the night sky. Y/n gasped looking at the ring and then back at James.
“Will you marry me Y/n Y/l/n?” He said with a smile so bright. She had tears in her eyes, but not the good kind.
“James,” she croaked out.
The hesitance in her voice made James panic, he slid onto both knees taking a hold of her hands, as she looked away crying.
“I can’t James, I'm so sorry,” She cried out, taking her hands away from his, leaving him empty.
“But why? I thought we were good. I thought everything was great. Please Y/n” He begged, was it too soon? Was he in the wrong?
Y/n stood up and started making an exit out of the flower field, James not too far behind her. She suddenly stopped and turned around to face James, tears streaming down her face.
“I'm so sorry James, I love you I do but I'm not a wife girl? I can't settle down, not yet at least we are both so young!” She wept, whipping her tears.
“Then let's wait! I love you Y/n/n and I will wait forever for you,” James hurried to her front, taking his hands into hers.
Y/n looked up at James with tear-ridden eyes
“I think we should take a break James, ” she said finally.
“What no? Please don't do this Y/n I'm so sorry I asked you to marry me we can pretend this never happened!” He pleaded.
“I'm going to America James,” She bowed her head in shame, “ I didn't tell you because I was afraid of how you would react and I didn't want it to ruin anything we had, and I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner,” she rambled.
James was the one this time to shake her hands off of his, he wasn't sad anymore no, he was angry, he was mad.
“What?” He uttered, “Were you planning on packing up and leaving me next week with a note to say you were going to live out your fantasies? Were you even planning on telling me at all?” He voiced, he was hurt, sad, angry, and all of the above.
“Of course, I was, I'm not a monster! And it's not some fantasy James it's my dream you know that!” She cried out.
“Fine, Y/n go to America but don't think that this is me being supportive, not after you just broke my heart and stomped on it a million times,” James replied.
Y/n folded the cream cardigan that was in her hands and stared at the boy she once called her best friend, and turned to walk toward her car. As she was just about to enter she looked back at James, who was already looking at her.
“Goodbye James Potter,” she said to him as she entered her car.
James watched as she drove away, he watched as her white car went from visible to microscopic, he wiped his tears and turned away back to the picnic to clean up the mess that had happened.
“Goodbye Y/n Y/l/n” He whispered as he stuffed the forgotten ring back into his pocket.
-
James shoved that box to the corner of his room in frustration, no wonder he didn't go through it, too many painful memories. He regretted everything he said that night, he let his anger take control of his actions and because of that he never got to wish his best friend good luck or give her a proper fair well.
He rubbed the tears off of his face and went downstairs to make some half-ass dinner for himself, probably just a frozen meal Remus got him when they went on their weekly grocery trips.
He put the meal in a muggle microwave and sat down to turn on the television, just to his luck an awards show was happening at that time, alas it was only the red carpet looks so he was barely interested.
He got his meal and sat in front of the tv, only using it for background noise, as he ate his rough meatloaf and soggy mashed potatoes.
It was only when a familiar name was called that he dropped what he was doing and looked up at the screen.
“And here is the ‘it girl’ herself, Y/n Y/l/n! Wearing a stunning gold dress tell us who it is by?” the reporter asked.

❦ IWAIZUMI heard the usual dangle of the door in the afternoon, he was making his daughter a little after school snack knowing she always came a little hungry or stressed after a long day “hi dad, thank you so much for this” he placed the play of food in front of her before pecking her cheek “its okay darling, how was your day?” she took a good few bites of the delicious food before answering with her mouth full “was okay, had lunch with my boyfriend—” “shut up” he literally stopped on his track, looking at his daughters eyes for any kind of hint that it was a joke “what, dad?” his mouth was hung open, his little girl gre up so much and she already has a boyfriend “yeah- nope. I need to go on a run, we gonna talk later”
❦ MATTSUN came exhausted from work, ready to make a plain coffee and just sleep in the rest of the day but why, why was his daughter cuddling with a random boy in the couch “who this?” he asked in confusion to his daughter who was calmly resting her head in his boyfriend's chest “dad! this is my boyfriend, I told you last night he was gonna come!” the boy was there, internally panicking not taking his eyes out of the television “but I thought you were joking about having a boyfriend?” “why would I joke?” lmao mattsun didn't have time for this today, his mind wasn't understanding anything at the moment “as long as you're not pregnant then everything good, I'm off to sleep baby”
❦ OIKAWA was doing the dishes when his daughter came running to the kitchen “dad! you wouldn't believe what happened to me today!” god, her smile never failed to make his heart beat faster than ever, he still can't believe he has his own fresh blood in the world “what happened, baby” the teenage girl was with a hand over her mouth from the amount of giggles that fell off her lips “i finally have a boyfriend!” rip the cup oikawa had on his hand “you what!? why!? I'm not enough anymore for you!?” he is desesperante for answers lmao, she was growing up so much “dad! it's not that you're not enough, it's just different... I'm off to my first date actually! have a good day~” bet the rest of his day was ugly crying in your arms about how his little princess grew up so much
❦ DAICHI expected this day to come, he thought about one hundred scenarios of his daughter bringing his first boyfriend home, a fancy dinner or a good breakfast– he wasn't really happy when he caught her making out with a boy on his couch “nope— this boy out of my house right now” literally the walk of shame for him lmao, her daughter's cheeks were read as strawberries, looking down to the floor, he went towards her to have a friendly chat, of course, “care to explain?” “your daughter is not single anymore?” he is clearly protective of her, but if it makes her happy then who is him to deny? he placed a chaste kiss to her forehead before speaking again “just– introduce him properly baby ‘kay? try to keep the make outs in your room too”
❦ BOKUTO went to pick up his daughter to school since he finally had a day off from practice, he was singing is favorite tune until he saw her with a boy's armas around her waist, how they looked at each other's eyes being the teenagers in love they were, exchanging a little peck before muttering their own ‘goodbye's’ he was so broken, ugly crying even; his daughter came running to the car after seeing him like that from a good distance “dad! is all okay? what happened!?” he really tried to form words but he just couldn't, it seems like yesterday when she said ‘boys are smelly’ “ ‘m okay, ‘m okay– is just hard to see you grow up baby- up to the car, we have things to do” if he is not the only man in his life anymore then he is gonna show her how she should be treated

"Why weren't you close?" Fleet stopped, harrumphed slightly with a frown and a mouth-press, and then said, "I should say that you don't have to answer that, and I should say it's none of my business, but the truth is, Uncle Sol -- I do want you to answer that, and I do feel it's my business. So I really hope you will. I wanna find out everything I can about my family. I never thought I'd get the opportunity." He fixed Sol with an intense look, unblinking, reaching out to press his fingers against his uncle's (incredibly well-built, he hadn't lost much of that fighting muscle) bicep.
And with any luck, Fleet's own forthright answer to his uncle's question about Oneal would convince his newfound relative that he was serious about wanting them to exchange information, no matter how sensitive the subject. Fleet didn't believe much in keeping things like that to himself. Maybe it was his own internal satisfaction in discussing motive and rationale like everything was a screenplay -- which some people, fair enough, found to be one of his more objectionable views -- but Fleet liked saying things that other people might keep internalized, if they were him.
It made things more interesting, was Fleet's conviction. And heaven forbid he ever find his life turning out like some hackneyed soap opera storyline, with convenient half-reveals and endless shenanigans that could've been prevented by one simple statement. If his life was gonna be dramatic, it would be prestige television, not daytime.
"It's okay," Fleet said, tasting and turning over his uncle's extremely pragmatic response to the Oneal situation. "I think ... I sort of resigned myself to that at the beginning of all this. It sounds silly but I run situations in my head, y'know? I've always done that, ever since I was little. What would the world be like after an apocalypse, how would I feel, would I go through all the really gross and extraordinary measures to survive. And I decided I would. But that not everyone else would, and that's their choice to make. So you're right, Uncle Sol." Fleet breathed out, gaze turning upwards for a moment. "I can't judge him either."
At which point his uncle made it clear that he would be happy to act like an uncle, too, in addition to the shared blood running in their veins, and Fleet paused his own busy mind to smile, gratefully. "I'd like that a lot," he said, and stepped in for a hug without asking. Sometimes it paid to spring things on people rather than waiting for permission.
The kid talked a mile a minute, and while it wasn't a habit Sol could say they had in common, he didn't mind it. It was actually kinda nice, since he felt like he needed a crash course on his life story anyway.
"A flake, huh?" Yeah...he laughed a little at that. "I'll be honest, I haven't had much of a relationship with him myself in...shit, at least fifteen years? And even before that, we were never close." It was true enough, but more than that, he felt shitty about bad-mouthing Cole in front of the kid.
"Jesus, Rabbit Ruiz. You really did look me up." It was flattering in a way that Sol hadn't experienced much, even at the height of his fighting career. Fans liked the flash and the drama--Solemn Sol didn't provide a lot of that. "Good news is, I'm a novice instructor, so we can figure our shit out at the same time, yeah?"
He wasn't prepared for the jolting, straightforward way Fleet answered his last question. Sol got a sense, then, of why Fleet had survived all this. People had particular strengths, and if the kid could deliver that sort of news so candidly, then he had a steeliness that probably served him well. Probably fucked him up a little, too. So he'd just effectively lost the last member of his family and was about to be faced with Cole Reznik as a father. That was a shitty day any way you looked at it.
"I'm sorry to hear that, man. Can't blame him too much, though. Never could find fault with folks who wanted to check out of all this. Never want them to, mind you, just...who am I to judge? I'm sorry for you, though--losing somebody."
They'd gotten near enough to the community center that they'd have to switch gears, but Sol took a slow handful of moments to consider the kid again. He was pretty much fully-cooked, in terms of raising and nurturing and all that. But it was easy enough to imagine him as a curly-haired little kid running full speed. Fleet, indeed.
"But hey, whatever else goes down, you can add an uncle to roster."
