world juniors surprise
hughes!sister x will smith au (samy + will)
samy surprises the guys in canada at world juniors!
wc: 2.4k
this is more gabe, ryan + samy just because i like writing their friendship and showing how much they all enjoy each other’s company and hanging out all together even when will isn’t around. (i also didn’t know how to end this so ending sucks my bad)
au masterlist
even though will wasn't playing at world juniors anymore, samy still wanted to support her other boston boys and her parents were suckers for hockey, so they made the trip into canada for the rest of the tournament. samy also really loved surprises, so she made an effort to surprise ryan and gabe upon arriving.
she texted back and forth with drew and zeev about making sure neither of the boys found out as she snuck into the practice rink near the end of their practice. she stayed close to the back of the bleachers, watching as the boys played a scrimmage. the sound of the puck hitting against their sticks was like music to her ears.
drew glanced her way and she gave a tiny wave. the taller boy smiled, making sure to not draw any attention in her direction. she saw ryan wearing the big C on his uniform and gabe with his A and she couldn't be prouder of the two. after all the work they've put in the last year and this season so far, they definitely deserved it.
their coach called them in after another few minutes for his last remarks about practice before sending them free for the day. with everyone's back turned, samy carefully snuck her way onto the ice.
head coach carle saw her making her way towards them. he began wrapping up his last words, "good work today boys. get some good sleep, we have a big day tomorrow." ryan began standing back up to call out their cheer when coach stopped him, "actually, i think we have someone else who wants to call the cheer today."
the boys grew confused until samy said, "mind if i do one leno?"
ryan's head snapped towards her, eyes wide with surprise. the other boys copied his movements, all of their gazes quickly lighting up when they saw the familiar hughes sister.
"no fucking shit," ryan laughed and skated towards her. gabe wasn't far behind as they hugged.
"what are you even doing here?" gabe laughed as he took his hug and the other guys rallied around for a hello. with most of these boys being old u18s and u17s, samy was very familiar with all of them so she greeted each of the boys with a friendly smile.
"i'm here to watch hockey, duh?" the girl laughed.
"what a great surprise. it's good to see you," ryan grinned.
"we did help plan, by the way," drew spoke up next to zeev.
"impressive. i don't think i've ever been on the receiving end of a surprise before," gabe patted the girl's shoulder.
"well since you're here and you asked, you can do the honors," ryan said meaning the team cheer.
"all hands in," samy smiled and the boys put their gloved hands in the center. "usa on 3. 1, 2, 3, usa," they broke and finally started skating off the ice now in chatter about samy being there.
"how long are you staying?" ryan asked.
"the whole tournament. my parents are here too. they couldn't pass up an opportunity to watch some good hockey," she giggled.
"well, we're glad you're here. i don't think we've ever been surprised by you before. give us like..twenty minutes to shower and change and we'll be out," gabe said and samy nodded. she wasn't a stranger to waiting around after a game or practice, so she made herself comfortable against the wall across from the locker room.
the youngest hughes sent a quick picture to will telling him she successfully surprised the boys. they were both sad he couldn't join her in canada because of the games he had to be at coming up, but he was there in spirit and obviously, samy was going to send him all the game updates.
james and aram came out of the locker room first. the older brunette quickly hurried over to greet samy where she gave both of them warm hugs.
"good to see you again hughesy. congrats on your national title by the way," aram nudged her shoulder.
"thank you. it's good to see you guys too. how's boston been?" she asked and the two nodded.
"amazing. awesome. perfect," james chuckled.
"you've been doing pretty good this season. i can't believe my little u17 is all grown up," samy poked james' shoulder making him flush. in her eyes, him, teddy, cole would always be her u17s no matter how old they got.
"i try to stay humble," the boy mumbled, but smiled nonetheless. teddy and cole were the next ones out, quickly rushing over to say a proper hello. samy hugged them all the same.
"it's kind of weird seeing you without will here," teddy laughed.
"yeah, i know, but i really wanted to come see you guys. i can't believe how grown up you are," she pinched teddy and cole's cheeks like a big sister would, which, in some ways, she was a big sister to them.
"you say that like we went from 12 to 17 overnight," cole said making the others laugh.
"in my eyes you did. i feel like a mom who's birds all left the nest," samy held her heart and the boys exchanged a glance knowing how sappy and sentimental she got.
the last four finally came back out after another ten minutes. drew and zeev hurried over to also give the youngest hughes a proper hug. "thanks for helping with the surprise," she said.
"of course. glad i got to finally be in the know this time around," drew grinned.
"are you hungry at all? we can all catch an early dinner late lunch?" ryan wondered and the others nodded, wanting to tag along.
"sure, i'm down," samy agreed too.
they decided on a restaurant not too far from the rink and piled into their cars. samy got in with ryan and gabe, the dark-haired boy offering her the front while ryan got in the driver's seat.
"when's em and julianne coming down?" samy wondered.
"emma's coming this weekend and i think julianne is too. like everyone is coming this weekend," gabe said, clicking his seatbelt in.
"i'm excited to see everyone. all we'll be missing is will and hannah."
"isn't hannah in like jamaica for break?" ryan wondered and the girl nodded.
"yup, her big winter break vacation. the pictures have been super cool though."
they pulled out of the lot, the other hockey boys following behind them. "so how are you feeling about being captains?" the brunette shifted the subject, her gaze bouncing between the two boys.
"good, i think. we're feeling confident about this tournament and i think we've been doing a good job?" ryan said in a bit of a question as he gazed back at gabe through the rearview.
"i'm feeling confident too. it's gonna be a good tournament," the dark-haired boy agreed.
"good, i'm glad to hear that. you guys have really great players on the roster this year. you guys and hagens should be a good trio," the girl nodded.
"dude, hagens is a fucking beast. he's crazy good. he's like the will smith of his year," gabe quickly gushed at the mention of the other taller brunette.
"i've heard. he was always really good at dev," samy agreed.
"i know he's gonna go quick at the draft next year. there's no way he doesn't," ryan turned into the restaurant parking lot. all the other boys pulled in, scattering to find parking spots.
the poor hostess was definitely a bit frightened when almost ten hockey players came into the restaurant without a reservation, but somehow, she managed to seat all of them. their chatter carried across the table between one another talking about world juniors, college, hockey, michigan, san jose—all of the topics getting covered.
"hey, i'm just wondering how you get smitty to post pictures of you like that," aram snickered making the other boys laugh. samy flushed and just shook her head.
"i have no idea. you have to ask him," she shrugged.
"he's sooo whipped for you," zeev poked her shoulder and the girl's poor flush got worse and opted to bury her face in her hands instead.
"oh she knows. we all know. you should've seen how bad they were before they got together. it was so obvious," ryan shook his head slightly making gabe, drew, and aram all laugh.
fall of 2021 (samy's junior year and will's first year of dev)
"where are you going?" ryan wondered when he saw his friend putting his coat on. will's gaze snapped in his direction.
"my mom and i are going down to samy's soccer game. you wanna come with?" ryan didn't know the youngest hughes that well yet. their only interaction had been at her house the first time and then she was at some of the preseason games, but the boy wouldn't pass up an opportunity to get out of house and watch a game of soccer.
"yeah sure," he shrugged and got to find his coat. "do you guys always go to games?"
"usually, yeah. my mom always had the highlights up or read about it online," will shrugged and the brunette just nodded. he still thought about how much will played it down how close him and samy were and after meeting her, the guys quickly realized how much closer they were than will led on.
mrs. smith filled the silence with asking the boys about how the program was going so far and if they were liking it to which they said yes. it was hard getting any elaboration out of sixteen year old boys.
the stands were fairly packed when they got there. colleen found samy's parents and the boys followed her since they didn't really know anyone from her school.
"there she is," will pointed to samy's #6 down on the field warming up. "she has crazy pre game superstitions. she always has to have her hair up in a braid and she usually eats two apples before every game," the blonde continued.
"sounds serious," ryan chuckled to himself and will nodded.
"you have no idea. she gets insane with her superstitions," the blonde laughed too. samy finally looked back up at the stands where will waved. she quickly waved back when she saw him, a large smile on her lips.
"i'm definitely dragging all of you guys out to these games. samy loves the support and she'll find it funny seeing all of us in the stands," the more will kept talking about her the more curious ryan got with their relationship because he seriously wondered just how close they really were.
the game got underway and ryan also began realizing just how much he liked girl's soccer. he didn't usually watch it, but samy's game had him on the edge of his seat as the girls raced up and down the field to score a goal. the youngest hughes was good. will mentioned how good she was, but now that ryan was seeing it with his own eyes he definitely agreed. the girl was fast and good at scoring.
when the game ended the family waited around for samy to come back out of the school. ryan and will were discussing what a great game that was when the brunette came out with her team in high spirits after the win. will quickly lifted her into a hug.
"great game, hughesy," the blonde cheesed.
"thanks, smitty. it's so good seeing you in person," she chucked and her eyes slid to ryan. "i dragged him with me. well, he wanted to come when i asked," will filled in the gaps.
"you were good, hughes. i was impressed," ryan smiled.
"thanks, that means a lot. i'm glad you came," she offered a quick side hug before greeting her parents and mrs. smith. ryan watched the exchanges and the way the smile never left will's lips as he watched samy in front of them.
ryan was slowly learning how important this girl would be to all of them in the next two years because after that game, the guys never missed one of samy's home soccer games (unless they had a game too).
even though she was will's girlfriend and will's friend first, samy had become quite an important friend to all of the guys. she showed up for them and they showed up for her, even when will wasn't around to bridge the gap because there was no gap to bridge anymore. they were close all on their own.
and her being at world juniors to support them in the tournament was more than the guys could even ask for. they all went back to the hotel for the night knowing they needed to get good sleep for the game tomorrow. samy hung out in ryan and gabe's room with aram and drew for a bit. ryan was out on the balcony getting fresh air when samy came out to join him.
"nervous?" the girl wondered as she leaned against the railing.
"kind of," ryan admitted with a small chuckle.
"you're all gonna do great, lean. you worked really hard for this," samy assured making the brunette smile a bit.
"yeah, i know. i think it's pre game jitters i always get. still getting used to the whole captain thing too."
"hey, i get it. it's nerve racking for sure when people finally watch what you and your teammates have been working on for the past week. people love you guys though. they love you. they're gonna think it's great," the girl said and ryan flushed.
"thanks for coming by the way. it's good having you here with us even though will isn't here," they exchanged a glance.
"you know i'd always show up for you guys. you show up for me. we're friends outside of will. you guys are gonna be in our wedding whenever that happens, so of course i'd show up for you guys," samy loved these boys like they were bonus brothers. all of her brother's hockey friends were her bonus brothers, but the u18s of 2023 were brothers in a way that samy knew they'd all be friends for the rest of their lives.
"you know will really landed a good one," ryan winked making the girl flush.
"yeah, i guess he did."
"you guys better get back in here and watch drew beat gabe at mario kart," aram called. the two exchanged a glance, laughing and racing back inside so they could see drew pull ahead and cross the finish line before gabe could. he jumped up in excitement.
"i won! finally!" drew exclaimed.
the others cheered excitedly. gabe rolled his eyes a bit and handed off his controller to someone else. ryan grabbed it wanting to beat drew this time.
they played for a little while longer until deciding they definitely needed to go to bed. the guys hugged samy goodnight, “can’t wait for a great game tomorrow!” she grinned as she followed drew and aram out of the room.

can i request a soulmate au with six? specifically the soulmate aus where whatever you write or doodle on your skin appears on the other person’s?
i think it would be a neat way for him and soulmate to communicate when he’s away
Pairing: Sierra Six x F!Reader Word Count: 507 Warning: Soulmate AU with some angst. A/N: This is my first time writing a soulmate AU so please be gentle. Thanks to Mushu for reading this over. Please comment or reblog if you enjoyed this and want to see more. Or scream at me in my inbox. That always makes my day.
Masterlist ♡Ryan Gosling Character Masterlist
On the morning of your birthday, you take a pen and write your name and address on your forearm. Then you wait, staring hopefully at the blank skin beneath the ink. Your soulmate, whoever they are, never writes back and each year you find yourself a little less optimistic about getting a response.
Perhaps he’s already happily in love with someone else. Maybe he simply doesn’t want you. You push away the more persistent thought that occasionally surfaces—maybe he’s dead. You don’t think that’s actually true, you’d feel it if he were.
Your family and friends do their best to make your day special, but your thoughts keep drifting back to your unanswered message. Everyone else you know has found their soulmate and it hurts to see them all so happy. Today, you wear long sleeves and try to push aside thoughts of what’s hidden beneath. You eat at your favorite restaurant and fill your day with activities. You've almost forgotten about the message until you get home and change for bed.
Beneath your message is another. The ink is red and the letters are messy and jumbled. Your heart catches in your throat.
I'm sorry. Can you forgive me?
You scramble for your desk, grabbing for the first pen you see and writing back quickly. Your hands shake so bad it's a miracle your words are legible.
Of course. Please. I want to meet you.
A minute later you get your answer. It's a simple message, but it confuses you.
Door.
Then you hear it—a soft but firm knock on your front door. Your heart leaps into your throat, and you hurry to the entrance. It doesn’t matter that you’re in ratty old pajamas or that your face is bare, stripped of the makeup you wear as a shield against the world. Your soulmate is here.
You fling the door open and gaze up at the man you find there. He’s holding a bouquet of half wilted flowers, standing perfectly still. His eyes are the bluest you’ve ever seen, and a full, pouty bottom lip is barely concealed by a neatly trimmed dark goatee.
"Hey," you breathe, overwhelmed when he offers you a sweet but hesitant smile. “You’re here. Come in, come in,” you urge stepping back to give him space to pass you.
"I'm sorry.” He stares at you, his eyes roving over your face. “I've....” he trails off, looking away. “There's a lot you don't know."
"It doesn't matter," you tell him honestly.
He raises his hand as if he means to touch you only to draw away. He steps back but before he can get far you launch yourself at him, knocking into him. He stumbles but manages to catch you, and you bury your cheek against his chest, your joy at having him here eclipsing any shame or embarrassment.
After a moment of hesitation, you feel his arms surround you and he rests his cheek against the top of your head. He sighs, and you hold him tighter. Whatever story he has to tell doesn’t matter right now; he’s real, alive, and here with you. That's all that matters.

Hello there! I wanted to ask the 🍑 question both because I like the question and because, well, in honor of our boys (or at least the unclenched one 😂) but someone beat me to it!
So I’ll go for 🍍 and also 🍌 (which is another emoji we could give multiple meanings to, but I won’t get started 😜)
💙
Hi lovely! 🫶
Bwhahah ahhh these boys and their delicious 🍑, that I could talk about all day, clenched or unclenched tbh 😂
Ok here goes:
🍍 What kind of AUs do you like? Are there any AUs you hate or just generally have beef with?
I get a lot of modern AU requests, which I’m fine with. I did get a future/spaceship AU request during kinktober (but it contained no kink) and I couldn’t think of anything compelling to write for it tbh. So I guess future/sci-fi aus don’t work in my mind for these boys. Not that I hate or have beef with it, more I’m not sure I’d be interested to write or even read a story in that setting.
In terms of other AUs… Coffee Shop AU in general has been done to death in every fandom, so I guess that would make me reticent to engage. I can’t think of any others I dislike the idea of off the bat, it really depends on the quality of the story being told more than the setting.
I’ll tell you an AU I did enjoy writing: 70s AU hippy Benedict just living out of a VW bus, getting high, and having all sort of whorish sex. I wrote a short fic for Kinktober 2023 HERE and I definitely would like to revisit him sometime. 😮💨
🍌 In your opinion, what’s the funniest joke/reference/pun you’ve made in a fic?
(Love a good banana joke so thanks for that 😜😂)
Bwhahah omg well I love to write puns, silliness and banter. Also I love to throw in amusing Easter eggs for my mutuals to enjoy 😉 It’s not my funniest but a jokey “draw me like your French girls” Titanic reference I made in Portrait - that gets a lot of comments, especially on Wattpad haha.
Gosh I’m wracking my brains for what I think is funniest. Yknow what… I might just have to go with It Had To Be You and flipping the gender script on the infamous Meg Ryan diner scene from When Harry Met Sally. I had Benedict fake an orgasm in a restaurant in chapter 4 to prove a point that men can do it too, and honestly, it was just the best fun to write 🤣
Thanks for your ask my dear 😁🧡🧡

Yeah, I can see that. It would be awkward for him in that aspect, and from Kaylee's (in your fanon), it makes sense for her to not feel as uncomfy. It must be pretty awkward to have their dad dating someone around their age, I don't think it'd be good irl, but it's fiction ✨️I really like how you flesh out their relationship,I find it interesting and they have good chemistry, and all based/inspired from what is in the game too 👀 Haha, thanks for entertaining that thought, it could be he'd have one in wolf form, but don't they have no genitals? I've always thought that detail was a bit odd, like they'll show you a decapitated head and someone getting their face blown off, but they draw the line at werewolf bits it's kinda amusing tbh.
That's sad, but it does make sense for your fanon of him, and in canon tbh. He seems sort of lax about it in the game. Obviously, finding Silas would be great, but you're right it's mostly Travis who is pressured and actively goes looking for Silas. Your version of him deep down accepting his curse as being something he's stuck with adds up to me. He needs to keep hoping for the sake of his kids, but it's been years, and still nothing. I don't blame him for losing faith in finding Silas. It's a depressing situation with their family life, mental health, work, trying to keep his thing with Ryan neutral, and the hikers he sometimes has to bury. I think a lot of the fandom focuses on Travis more because he gets more screen time. Therefore, he's more likeable than Chris, who doesn't get much screen time and is depicted as a bit sus and strict during that time. This is honestly one of the things I was disappointed about, I wanted Chris to get more screen time. David Arquette did what he could with it and left me wanting to see some more, so I think he did good depicting him. Also, I realised I'd seen Travis (Ted Raimi) before and couldn't remember where, anyway I was rewatching early seasons of Supernatural and he's in S4 during the episode "Wishful Thinking" it's not relevant to my ask, but I also found the ep name ironic considering Travis yk, but it can appeal to Chris too. I'm honestly low-key, surprised that Travis/Laura fans haven't done an au of that episode yet. His character in that (Wesley) makes a wish with a magic coin to make a girl fall in love with him, and she does, sort of. The coin takes wishes and twists them, so the girl becomes obsessed with him to the point that she doesn't have any autonomy. It gets so bad that she goes and makes a wish too, and her wish was for lightning to strike down the mc (Sam), who wanted him to take back his wish of her loving him. Sorry, I know this bit is super rambly and you probably don't know the show I'm talking about, but idk I feel like Travis/Laura shippers are missing out on a potentially interesting au there, lmao.
I think you're depicting his obsession fairly well atm. So far, we've seen the cracks like you've said, Chris is slipping more and more each day. I can only imagine what he's going to be like when it's out in the open. It's funny I still don't quite get why Chris enjoys watching him so much. Don't get me wrong, the content you're serving us is delicious, and I love it as always, but I still don't quite get it. He's obsessed fr, and I'm living for it. He just loves watching him, ig. It makes me think of this sound on tiktok I saw one time: "Despite his criminal mind, this man is behaving well. His reward is the canoe. This time, he can sit in the canoe for up to an hour." I know before you told me it was about feeding his obsession, of being able to be up close to Ryan but not really. I just know Ryan is gonna like the attention (in theory). The barn scene was so awkward for him, like damn, lmao. And the way you showed us Chris cracking a bit there was great. We could just tell what was lurking underneath it all, and Ryan, too, to an extent. I feel bad for Chris fighting back and forth with himself like he does. It makes sense for him to wanna "protect" Ryan from himself by staying away, but he wants him to come back at the same time. I find that element of Chris, that selfish part of him wanting Ryan to keep coming back, to stay close to him; I find it kinda cute tbh. I feel like it shows what you said about him not really having someone like Ryan in his life, so it's easy to obsess. To have a person that needs him and wants him in the same breath. Tbh, before I was thinking of Ryan being the clingy one, which he totally still is in my mind, but with this insight, I can see Chris being a bit clingy too. I know this is probably maybe gonna be a given since GP is the more obsessive darker route for them, but will we be seeing an openly possessive/obsessive/territorial scene of them? When I say open, I mean that it's not really something they hide from each other like they did in ASB and have been doing more or less so far in GP. Buuut back to the previous ask, Chris willing to push back his selfish wants to prioritise Ryan's wellbeing/needs is the angst that keeps on giving. It's like he (you) are dedicated to making me sad, lmao. Ryan really wouldn't appreciate it much at all, haha, and yeah WCA depicts that very well. Ooh yeah, that most certainly was a dick move on Chris's part. I was thinking the same like "Chris, what do you mean 'shoot me'? He's just killed someone for you, wdym you wanna die now? *sigh* smh." Ryan's refusal to kill Chris in that, and him feeling like Chris wants to abandon him was SO sad. I'm still not over that 🥲.
Aww, that'd be cute! The moving in together au without moving in together, haha. I can imagine Ryan settling in a place near/in town or something when/if he'd get the money to buy his own place. The differences he'd face in the country I can only imagine, haha. I grew up in a busy place/main road, not in a city but yk, we didn't have a garden or amything that was very uh "nature" 😂. I remember going to a forrest/wild nature walk place where I live now, and I was sooo out of my element, haha. The bugs, the animal shit, the smells, the ground hurts depending on the type of shoe you wear, and my sense of navigation is shit. So I can only imagine suddenly living in a place like Hackett's quarry, especially with it being SO hot, I'd perish for sure in that heat, haha. I like the idea of them spending a lot of alone time like that. Aww, it's so cute when Ryan doesn't wanna worry, Chris. He knows he'd go out of his way for him when he probably shouldn't considering their financial situation. feel like there'd be good opportunities for bed sharing. It's not like there'd be anyone to question or hide it from.
Apart from maybe Kaylee or mostly Caleb, lol. Maybe Kaylee and Caleb would finally have somewhere else to run off to when they're sick of being at the house with their grandparents. Imagine Ryan's just settling in for the night when suddenly they just pull up to his cabin and state that they're staying the night. Ryan just gradually gets used to spontaneous sleepovers forced upon him. Poor socially awkward introvert hassled by werewolves, tbh that could be a way he finds about them. Like they just become so comfortable around Ryan that they let him in on their secret, and wouldn't that resolve how they were feeling, or at least how Kaylee said they felt in her letter to Constance? They'd finally have someone to confide in, or at least not hide from. Their whole thing was being upset at hiding from people, so maybe having that one person, a bit similar to Chris being able to listen to them and understand/validate them could be enough to soothe them a bit.
Haha, I think I beat you with my response. It's a bit more rambley and longer than yours, lmao. I get carried away with my ideas/ramblings. There's no judgment here, haha 😂
How do you think Kaylee and Caleb think about Ryan and Chris? In ASB, Kaylee was trying to subtly push them together a bit, so I got to wondering how they view Ryan liking Chris and their dad liking Ryan. This sent me down a mini rabbit hole of thoughts that somehow led me to thinking, "Does Chris have something like a knot like in popular werewolf fiction?" I honestly can't remember how I got to wondering about that, and idk how it'd even work either, lmao.
Then, from that thought, I naturally jumped to the next randomised one, which was wondering about how Chris spent the year when Ryan wasn't there? The tapes he has of Ryan wandering around and staring into space got me thinking that maybe he'd watch those sometimes? They have eachothers phone number, too, so they call like they did a bit in ASB. It was just interesting to think about in the context of GP because the nature of their relationship is different. Chris has his obsession, and Ryan atm isn't quite on the same level rn, but he's still pretty fixated on Chris. With these things in mind, I just wondered how it might change how Chris feels/reacts to Ryan's absence during the off-season of camp.
Then, finally, I thought, "What if Ryan stayed with Chris during the off-season?" Idk what the circumstances would be, but Ryan just doesn't go home or doesn't live with his family anymore? I was thinking about what they'd do, obviously with Chris's parents around, he can't bring Ryan to the house. So they'd be at the lodge, or at least Ryan would be. It leaves a lot of room for potential domestic fluff or smut. Without the campers and counsellors around, Ryan would truly be in the wolfs den. I'd imagine Kaylee and Caleb might visit more without the noisy campers and nosy counsellors there.
i’d say, that they prob don’t think about it too deeply. like, ryan’s crush is pretty clear to everyone, who bothers to inspect his and chris’s relationships for more, than 2 minutes. but while kyalee thinks, that it’s fun and might be good for chris, i feel like caleb sort of avoids the topic. and not bc the hates the idea of it, more so, bc it’s very awkward lol. i mean, he’s the older out of the 3. he views ryan on the same level as kyalee, like as someone, who’s clearly younger than him. and his sister has a habit of having new, non-serious crushes pretty often. so he might assume, that ryan is the same in that regard. like that he’s confused or smth. and then, chris is his dad, who he considers to be good-natured, but a bit lame. not to mention, that ryan is around the same age category as them, and learning that your father is a ‘dirty old man’ surely doesn’t help, haha. so yeah, caleb would try to not dig too deeply into it. and nope, chris doesn’t have it, haha. i mean, in human form surely not. in werewolf one, he prob does, haha. but i struggle to imagine ryan surviving such an encounter tbh.
ah, that’s a good question. i imagine, that chris has a lot to do around the campground, even when no one is around. then, he and the rest of the hacketts prob try to track down silas and all that business as well. but i feel like, chris doesn’t really believe, that they would ever find him. one would imagine, that it’ll be travis, who low-key gave up on everything, when in fact, trying to kill silas is in part of what keeps him going. compared to this, chris has a more cynical view on it. at least, in my fanon, haha. i guess, i always picture him as a guy, who really wants to help others, but considers himself to be beyond help. or maybe, not even worthy of it. i mean, i feel like while fandom adores fawning over travis’s situation, no one ever considers why chris had to be the one, who runs the camp. i don’t think, that it was a gift from his parents. i actually, assume that he was ‘trusted’ (read conditioned) into that position, bc travis was always a scapegoat of the fam, but in a way, he was ‘let go’. he could do whatever, bc no one cared all that much, which is still pretty bad, don’t get me wrong. but with this in mind, and added fact, that bobby is clearly the favorite child, it would mean that chris was automatically put into position, where literally no one, but him could ‘inherit’ the hackett’s quarry. and where he had to be the one to have a family, and be ‘the ideal man’ or whatever. all eyes were on him, bc there were things expected from him. nothing was expected from bobby. and in a way, from travis as well, but for different reasons clearly. with this being said, i don’t think that chris had it ‘worse’ than travis or smth, it’s just that he had to suffer through different sorts of parental pressure and most likely abuse too. travis has a stockholm syndrome toward his family, and chris was basically conditioned into filling the role, that no one else could. sorry, tangled up, haha.
but like with all this in consideration, it’s fairly easy to imagine why he would get so obsessed with ryan. and yeah, he for sure would rewatch the tapes, and enjoy phone talks, that they have. he never had anything like this before. a thing to truly look forward to. his kids are adults, so in all fairness, they no longer need him like they used to, and i feel like chris gets very aimless, when there is nothing for him to do, no one to care for, bc he has no idea how to live for himself at all. and yeah, in GP ryan’s and chris’s levels of obsession are a bit different. i suppose, partly bc chris’s mental state is also worse, than it was in ASB. he tries his best still, but cracks are starting to show more and more often. as for how he feels, when ryan is not around for months, i think that it’s a tricky question. chris is party terrified of himself and what he can do, so rational part of him says, that it’s good that ryan is far away from him, and that it might be better if he never comes back. but then, he also always longs for him to be back all the same. need vs care. obsession vs common sense. chris is very morale dualed, haha. esp when it comes to ryan. but i feel like, he’s prob one of the rare kinds of characters, who can overpower his own selfishness more often, than not. like, if i had to put all my supermassives otps into situation, where they had a choice to basically keep their ‘better half’ with them or have a chance to let them go with hope, that they can do better, that it would essentially be better for them, only chris and andrew would be capable of smth like lmao. everyone else, ryan included, would have the ugliest tantrum imaginable. even john with a similar level of self-hatred as chris, wouldn’t have been able to stop himself from being terribly selfish and keep andrew, no matter what it would have taken. this is partly why chris was okay with ryan killing him in WCA. he just assumed, well, it would be better for ryan. kinda a dick move tho. like ryan killed people for him, and he then, asks him to shot him lmao.
and oh, funny enough, i had un-used plot, where ryan gets kicked out of the house by his mother. idk, where his grandparents are. maybe, they don’t exist in that au or they’re not close. so as result, ryan literally has nowhere to go. he asks kyalee and caleb, if they can hook him up with some temporary place, until he finds a job and will get out of their hair. but naturally, they call him an idiot and say, that he can just stay on the campground during that time, chris won’t mind. i imagine, that ryan would ask them to not tell chris why he’s here, make up some story. it also leaves a lot places for humor, bc ryan is city kid, he doesn’t know much about life in the country. but chris be there to teach him. so yeah, they would spent a lot of time together. just two of them. kyalee and caleb would also indeed have a chance to hang out with ryan more often, show him around and such. for a while everything will be alright with the world. which is smth that i really about the quarry tbh. their set-up is so deceptively cozy.

Welcome back! This week we read all shields of mighty men by apologeticallybourgeois! Uh, boy howdy, talk about world-building. This one throws you in, right there in the universe, and the author does a phenomenal job at crafting the characters to make them fit incredibly well into the Star Trek universe. We wholly enjoyed every single character and the small teases of back story that we only got to taste. That said, this one was fun, and we really loved the journey from husbands to .... husbands.
Rating: E
Summary: “It was a ritual marriage,” Shane muttered, depressingly certain he’d said the same sentence at least 300 times in the past five months.
(Unsolved meets Star Trek.)
Book Club Thoughts:
The patter in this one was world-class
I think the case-fic parts of it are absolutely delightful and thrilling
They need someone to keep them on check and Eugene is excellent casting for it
the way this author was just like "here, have this!" and i was like "Oh!! Well, thank you!"
There were so many adventures only mentioned off hand and I wanted to know about all of them
i wanted to acknowledge how good the blend of irl personalities put into star trek canon was. the skeptic believerness of it all. the banter. slotted so well into the universe
like they're so gentle with each other in practice, being spousal where it counts while verbally assaulting each other
They care about each other so much because of everything this version of them has gone through and so it ends up being only natural that the ritual marriage ends up being real
It's such a tiny detail but the cultural touch of the burials and funeral rites. so much is said of a culture shock when you experience another kind of funeral and what it means to their people
it felt very like the author is very familiar with both worlds and did a wicked good job smooshing them together in a way that really felt like a fusion instead of just dumping characters into an au
this was a good read for me in terms of thinking about pacing and how you make a little mystery that can satisfyingly be told in x amount of words
god such good banter
i loved very much this idea of a pair of closely related species - split from the same source and the use of neopronouns! with no fanfare! excellent narrative choices the fact that the aliens and the crew from decades ago were so fleshed out made it really feel like a proper story, it wasn’t just about our boys
the author's drawing of Shane and Ryan (the banter, the growth of the relationship) is impeccable.
An interesting mystery plot and you can definitely tell the author had fun playing within the AU, which made for a very enjoyable read.

༻༺༻༺༻ღ༺༻༺༻༺
You were very comfy and very warm. Maybe even too warm. Also, your covers were moving behind your back and that was a bit odd, but you blamed the sensation on the morning confusion. Your bed smelled nicer than usual too. You nuzzled closer into the moving warmth, content it stilled its movements.
Except that after that, it talked.
“Sorry to wake you,” the comforter whispered hoarsely and it was like a shot of adrenaline to your veins, making you jolt fully awake, sitting up straight, causing your head to pound with the swift movement.
That was Steve’s voice.
Because you were sleeping in Steve’s bed.
“Are you okay?” he asked lowly, but you couldn’t respond right away. The memories came rushing back to you, messy but warmly fuzzy images of last night.
You had danced with Steve. Steve had kissed you. Steve had kissed you a lot.
Your lips unwittingly curled up in a smile despite the abrupt wake-up process. You heard him moving at your side, sitting up as well, so you turned to him, still grinning in perfect contrast to his concerned face.
He looked adorable with his hair sticking in every direction, a bit sleepy expression on his face, and he was also still very much shirtless. You were sure you woke up to heaven.
“Sorry to freak out. I was just… ugh, confused for a bit,” you explained, keeping your voice on low level just like he did, worried you might disturb the peace. “Good morning, Steve.”
His face cleared of worried wrinkles and he charmed a smile for you. “Morning, doll. Slept well?”
“Very. You?”
“Yeah.”
You just stared at each other, grinning like fools, eyes sparkling. You must have looked ridiculous, but you didn’t care. Subconsciously, when he released you from the lock of his eyes, your gaze wandered over him, appreciating the lack of clothing. How could person have a body this marvellous? You knew it was probably the effect of the serum, but gosh. What a view.
Good morning indeed.
You noticed a blush spreading down his neck and quickly snapped your gaze back to where it was decent. But hey, when you were offered a view like this, you simply had to make the best of the opportunity!
Steve seemed a bit sheepish, but you couldn’t help but notice that a new glint appeared in his irises, something in the way he was watching you back that gave out that maybe, you weren’t the only person to enjoy the situation at hand. It took you a second to realize why that was – you were wearing his clothes.
You remembered Ryan telling you about what it felt like to him, seeing a girl – or a guy in his case – in his clothes. Like a flag on a flagpole, mark of ownership on a conquered land, he had told you.
No funny business had happened between you and Steve last night, but the thought still made your face hot all over. To cover your embarrassment, you ducked your head to Steve’s shoulder, resting your forehead on it.
Steve tensed at first, but quickly recovered and sank his fingers gently into your hair, very carefully caressing your scalp, wary of pulling at your hair and causing you pain. You hummed in appreciation, instinctively brushing the nearest patch of skin with your lips – an inked patch of skin. You smiled against your will at that. Your words. Your ridiculous first words to him.
His breath caught in his throat at your bold move, but a kiss landed at the top of our head, so you figured you didn’t overstep.
“How much do you hate morning breath?” he muttered, sounding a bit embarrassed.
“Not particularly…?” you answered, not sure where that headed.
Looking back, you really should have understood what he was asking. Then again, the pleasant surprise of his fingers gently finding your jaw and tilting your head so he could kiss you right on the lips, warm and soft and sweet, was worth the lack of your brain function. You melted, your palm finding a way to lie flat on his very bare chest, feeling every expansion of his ribcage, his skin burning. He deepened the kiss, his fingers tangling in your hair enough to make you notice and boy, did it do things to you. You sighed into his mouth, content and yet needy for more, a second from climbing into his lap, too fast development be damned.
Just as you were out of breath, he released you, his thumb drawing a soft circle on your cheek. It was cliché, but your fingertips were literally tingling with euphoria and excitement.
“Wow,” you breathed out, still feeling his breath tickling your lips as he had barely moved away. “Can I stay another night? Can I be woken up like this every morning?”
He gave a breathy laugh, making your eyes snap open, and you could see the blown black of his pupils, the gleam of wanting more now diluted with giddiness.
“Can’t say I’d complain,” he admitted with a lopsided smile radiant on his kiss-swollen lips.
God, he was so handsome. Had you mentally noted he was handsome before? You still couldn’t believe it.
“That an invitation?”
“I mean, if you convince Tony…”
“Oh god, I take it back,” you groaned, falling back to the sheets dramatically, rewarded with Steve’s light-hearted laugh.
He laid down on his side then, propped on his elbow, watching you with a soft smile. “Thank you for staying.”
You let out what surely was a very unattractive snort. “’Cause not having to go home and not having to hail a cab in the middle of the night was a real sacrifice…”
Steve was fully grinning now, dropping a playful kiss on your nose, which caused you to giggle.
“I know, my lady. Let me make up for the hardship you had suffered through with making you breakfast.”
“You sound like Thor. Also, offering breakfast to a girl? You are a dangerous man, Steve Rogers,” you stated, the stupid smile simply not disappearing from your face no matter how much you tried to get it under control; so you gave up on that. “You seem to know just the way to my heart.”
“I sure hope so. Are you coming with the adorable bed-hair or do you want a minute?”
You gasped at the cheeky comment, grabbing the pillow by his head to smack his stupidly perfect skull.
His laughter filled the room and you felt like the happiest person on Earth.
༻༺༻༺༻ღ༺༻༺༻༺
When Steve led you to the communal kitchen and dining room ten minutes later, you were surprised to find three people already there. Clint was sitting at the bar, his head resting in his palm, a mug of coffee hazardously close in your opinion, just in case he would actually fell asleep and faceplanted on the counter; Bruce was sitting nearby, watching over him, while Natasha was standing at the cooker, making…
“Are those pancakes?” you gasped, your stomach instantly reacting to the smell, making you squirm in humiliation. Steve at your side chuckled, while Natasha grinned at you.
“Yep. There’s enough for you too. Unless Steve wants to impress you with his own cooking skills,” she teased and winked at him. He smiled bashfully in return.
“I mean… maybe next time? Since you already started…”
“Oh-ho, so there will be a next time?” Clint wolf-whistled, startling you with both the question and sudden sign of life.
“Let them be…. Coffee?” Bruce beckoned to the pot. You bit you lip bashfully. You didn’t want to be rude, but coffee… “Or maybe tea?”
You lighted up. “If it’s not too much trouble…”
“I’ll do it,” Steve hurried before the other man could rise from his seat. He pecked your temple. ”You go sit.”
“Yes, sir…”
Looking around, you weren’t sure where to. Between Bruce and Clint? Next to Clint since Bruce was at the bar stool at the end of the counter?
“You can sit next to Clint. It’s safe. This is his second mug of coffee,” Natasha supplied helpfully and you frowned in confusion. Perhaps an inside joke. “Yes, he is dangerous before he finishes his first.”
“Hey!” the man in question complained, but rolled his eyes for your benefit. “That’s actually accurate. You can sit here, I don’t bite.”
“He’s just a pain in everyone’s ass.”
“Morning to you too, Stark,” Clint saluted him and a mug of tea landed in front of you, soon followed by a stack of pancakes.
“You’re gonna spoil me. Thank you,” you said in earnest.
Natasha waved it off, while Steve let out a simple “Planning on it.”
“So you didn’t spoil her last night?” the billionaire hummed casually, pouring himself a coffee. Your eyes widened and you rather started eating to avoid an answer. Steve only sighed.
Neither of you replied, which earned you some raised eyebrows.
“She seems right at home in his clothes, huh?” Clint added and you shot him a look, mortified. Him too?
“She does, doesn’t she? Sign of a successful night?”
Steve grinded his teeth at Stark’s latest remark, turning a bit red in his face. You sipped your tea, figuring out a sassy response.
“Very successful. I slept like a baby. Sleeping duty fulfilled,” you announced and noticed that Bruce’s lips twitched as if he was holding back a smile. You continued. “That will be all, thank you for your questions. For further information, contact our PR department. ….Ouch, we don’t have one, looks like it’s none of your business then. Too bad…”
Tony’s mouth was theatrically hanging open, his hand clutching his chest and Clint’s eyes seemed rounder than a moment before; then again, that could just be because of the amount of caffeine in his system. Natasha chuckled, positioning a plate in front of Steve – his stack of pancakes was visibly taller and you wondered just how much he had to eat.
Speaking of Steve, he was smugly grinning into his mug. “I have nothing to add.”
“Still though. She’s like… shining or something. That’s released endorphins, I can tell. Good job, Cap.”
You internally whined.
If they keep that up, staying overnight is gonna start feeling like a sacrifice.
“Play nice, boys,” Natasha scolded them and you smiled at her gratefully. “Let the poor girl eat. She’s gotta make up for the calories Steve helped her burn…”
“You too?” you burst out simultaneously with Steve and Natasha raised her hands in a harmless gesture.
“I meant when you were dancing. What did you think I was talking about?” she asked innocently and everyone in the room but you two laughed.
“I hate you,” Steve mouthed at her and she just winked in return, turning her attention back to her cooking.
You wished for the Earth to swallow you, but you liked the teasing air hovering above the group of friends. You smiled reassuringly at Steve, stroking him arm shortly.
“It’s okay, Steve. I still like you despite your annoying friends,” you emphasized the last words, which was followed by affective aww from Clint, Tony and Natasha.
Steve smiled at you, apologetic and kind. “Thanks, doll. You’re the best.”
To show his appreciation, he kissed your cheek, the innocent gesture drawing a wolf-whistle from Tony.
“Get a room!”
You just rolled your eyes and stole a quick peck from Steve’s lips for a good measure. He tasted like coffee; it seemed you might grow fond of that taste after all.
༻༺༻༺༻ღ༺༻༺༻༺
Despite all the odds, everyone survived breakfast. They teased you once more after you asked about Thor, learning he had left in early morning because of an urgent matter on Asgard. After all, he was son of the King. And an Alien. And a demigod. Apparently, you knew those now. What an insanity your life became in such a short time.
The team went separate ways after the meddling over the most important meal of the day. Steve stayed with you, of course, showing you around the Tower. You marvelled at the view and despite having a tiny fear of heights, you agreed to Steve taking you outside at the top.
It was incredible. You found yourselves basically on the top of the world, steps slightly shaky, but with Steve’s firm reassurance. You trusted him not to let you fall. So trying to keep your mind of the potential life-ending fall, you busied your mind with how touchy-feely Steve quickly became after sharing the first kiss yesterday night. You loved it.
When you came to a stop, you were unable to resist the urge to spread your arms and let the gentle wind play with your hair and rather loose clothes; Steve’s hands found their way to your hips to steady you. Slowly, he moved further, his fingers running in a feather-light touch over your arms and threading his fingers with yours.
You giggled and dared to lean onto him with your back, testing the waters. His lips brushed your cheek and you couldn’t but turn your head, catching his mouth with yours in a searing kiss. He was so sweet. You trusted him with your life, knowing he would never allow you to even stumble, and yet you were falling, falling for him so hard. The realization was overwhelming.
How could you be… falling in love so fast?
Steve gently squeezed your fingers, brining your joined hands to your waist and you decided you didn’t care and let the kiss consume you.
When you finally parted, your eyes fluttered open to meet his gaze. You couldn’t stop smiling.
“Put Titanic on your list, huh?” you murmured, your brain turned into a useless mass of lovesick jello.
Laughter was twinkling in Steve’s eyes. “Not really. It’s a perk of the movie nights, we take turns in who’s picking.”
You frowned in confusion. “Who chose Titanic?”
For some reason, Natasha didn’t strike you the type. Clearly, you were right, because Steve chuckled.
“Clint.”
You burst out laughing, Steve soon joining you. You wondered if the whole Manhattan could hear you. Once again, you had no care in the world.

how about “i’m really sorry i never told you i was immortal but now you’re aging and i’m not and i can’t see you die i don’t know what to do so i’m telling you now” with billy? in a universe where the supes are supernatural creatures? i just love me some angst tbh
sCREAMS UGH this makes me SAD!!! i dunno if its TOO MUCH of an AU?? because i think Supes in The Boys are already immortal or at least age MUCH SLOWER than normal people. I dunno. Also, I still haven’t watched Season 2. I’ve read about it on the Wiki, but uh....yeah. i hope you enjoy!!
You watched Billy from across the street, the hood of your coat drawn over your head to hide your distinctive hair and noticeable features as you kept an eye on the man. He was crouched in the living room of a nondescript house, speaking quietly to Ryan, who sat on the couch. You kicked your feet and dropped your eyes to the street, drawing your shoes up onto the opened tailgate of the truck you sat on. The truck swayed and Annie sighed as she settled next to you, fixing the baseball cap on her head.
“Wish I had x-ray vision,” she groaned as she stretched, “That’s such a nice power. Great for spy work and stuff.”
You shrugged and looked over. “I’d give it up,” you murmured. You turned your attention back to the house and rested your cheek on your knee. Billy had moved onto the couch and was shoulder to shoulder with Ryan. “He’s got more greys,” you mumbled.
“He’s old,” Annie pointed out.
“So am I,” you retorted. You looked back at her and hugged your knees. “I haven’t told him, yet.”
“That you’re immortal?” she asked. You nodded. She rolled something around in her hands and you glanced down, finding a plastic bottle in her grip. “The Deep would kill me if he knew I had this,” she mumbled as she twisted it open. You watched her take a long drink and declined when she offered it to you. “I haven’t told Hughie,” she finally said, “If that makes you feel better.”
You shrugged. “A little.” You turned back to the house. Billy had pulled Ryan into what looked to be a very awkward hug, one that Ryan fiercely returned. The man stood, ruffled the kid’s hair, and stepped away to talk with the woman that had been tasked with keeping him safe. It wasn’t Mallory, but someone she trusted. You dropped your gaze when Billy walked out the front door. “I dunno how to tell him,” you whispered, “How do you say ‘Hey, I haven’t aged since 1962 and I never will but you’re aging and it fucking hurts’?”
Annie tilted her head towards you. She shook her head after a moment. “I dunno,” she finally answered. She reached out and squeezed your knee. “But when you find out, will you tell me?” she asked. You nodded. The two of you slid off the tailgate and shut it. Annie headed for a car that was parked further down the street, one that Hughie sat in. You rounded the truck and climbed into the front seat just as Billy opened the driver’s side door.
“What’s that about?” he asked as he pulled the door shut. You looked over. It was still weird to see him so clean shaven, even when he had put off shaving for a few days and a nice layer of stubble had grown over his jaw. He slid a pair of sunglasses up his nose but continued to watch you.
You picked at the drawstring of your hood. The plastic at the end had been stripped away for a long time, and now the end frayed from your repetitive abuse. “You know we don’t age, right?” you softly blurted out. You gulped, keeping your eyes trained on your shoes. “Us Supes,” you softly clarified with a shrug. Billy stayed silent, but stretched his arm across the seats, his fingers drumming against your head rest. Words continued to spill out of your mouth the longer the quiet went on. “I haven’t aged in a long time, and it’s not really fair for you to be stuck with someone that’s just so weird and dangerous – I mean, I know that you know that I’m not like Homelander, and Annie isn’t either and—”
“You been thinkin’ about this a long time, haven’tcha?” he cut in. He reached out and pulled your hood from your head, softly calling your name until you looked at him. “Been noticin’ you watchin’ me more,” he commented. His lips quirked up on one side. “What, you been countin’ my wrinkles? All those little gray hairs?” He wiggled his fingers near his scalp.
You rolled your eyes. “That’s not funny,” you sighed.
He arched an eyebrow and rested his hand on the steering wheel. The playfulness and teasing melted from his face the longer he watched you pick at the drawstring. “This really bother you?” he softly asked. His hand left the headrest and pulled your fingers from your clothes. “Me gettin’ older?”
“Me not aging while you get older bothers me,” you replied. You looked up at him, squeezed his fingers as gently as you could. His thumb brushed over your knuckles. “I’m afraid that, one of these days, I’ll wake up and you won’t remember who I am. Or…you’ll be sick. Or…”
He sucked as his teeth and pulled your hand up to his mouth, kissing your palm. His glasses slid down his nose and he watched you so intently that your face warmed. “Don’t worry about that,” he said as he lowered your hand, “Think I’ll be long gone ‘fore that can happen.”
“That’s not funny.”
“’m not laughin’.” He squeezed your hand back. “Listen, you really worried about that? Then we’ll figure it out later.” You pushed your fingers into the spaces between his. “We got other shit to worry about, not me gettin’ old and little creaky.” He lifted your entwined hands, turned the truck on and pulling away from the curb. “Got it?” he asked.
You nodded. “Yeah,” you whispered, “I got it.” You pulled his hand into your lap and sank back into the seat.

Prompt Request
(Thomas Hunt x OC*Amanda) taken from A Second Chance storyline with the prompt, things you said when you thought I was asleep as requested by @krsnlove
(Thomas Hunt x OC*Amanda) in a Choices Red Carpet Diaries drabble.
A/N I had a few ideas about this prompt for these two in this particular AU and finally decided on this one. I always loved how awkward Thomas starts out as a father in this particular AU, even though Kathleen immediately adores him. I thought this prompt would be perfect after Amanda tells him they are now expecting twins.

Introduction
"Pregnant?" Thomas breathed. "Are you certain?"
Amanda handed him one of the ultrasounds. She rocked back and forth on the balls of her feet while keeping her hands behind her back.
He stared down at the alien like creature, unsure what he was exactly looking at.
"That's the first one." She said softly.
He tilted the photo, squinting at the lumpy potato like figure.
She placed another image on top of that one. "And this is its twin."
Thomas froze in the midst of hoping this new image would actually resemble a human baby.
"Twin?" His eyes searched her face to see if she was joking. "We're having twins now?"
She nodded, waiting on him to say how thrilled he was. "Quarantine has been a very productive time for us."
Thomas collapsed on the sofa while looking once more at this plot twist they had created.
Amanda bit her lip and eased down beside him. "You are happy, aren't you?"
"I am, exceedingly so." He placed his arm around her, hugging her close to his side. "I'm simply in a great deal of shock." He blinked a few times as the images blurred. "I expected us to get pregnant since we were trying but nothing remotely like multiples crossed my mind."
"Aren't you excited?" Amanda prodded. "You missed out on so much during Kathleen's infancy and toddlerhood. Now you'll get to experience it with double the fun."
"Twins." He repeated. "We're having twins.
Thomas caused a startled laugh to escape her lips when he surprised her with a passionate kiss.
"You," he smiled at her, "are the master of surprises when it comes to our children."
*************
"When will they get here?" Kathleen asked. "Will they look the same? Will I have two brothers or two sisters?"
"Hold on, sweetheart." Amanda laughed at all the questions that were tumbling out. "We won't know for a few months what they are. But they should be here later this summer."
"I can't wait!" Kathleen studied the ultrasounds then glanced at her mother's stomach. "I wish we could see them."
"We might not be able to see them yet, but that doesn't mean we can't talk to them." Amanda explained. "I used to talk to you all the time when I was pregnant."
Thomas lowered the pregnancy book he was reading. "Isn't it a little early for them to hear?" He flipped a few pages back. "Says here that the ears don't develop until around fourteen to sixteen weeks."
"That never stopped me." Amanda shrugged. "I was talking to Kathleen from the moment the pregnancy test came out positive."
"You were?" Kathleen beamed at that. "What did you say?"
"All sorts of things." Amanda cuddled her close. "I would read books to you. Tell you what I was doing. Shared stories about my life. Pleaded with you to let me eat my favorite foods." She made her daughter laugh when she tickled her. "And you let your opinion be heard loud and clear on that last one."
"What should I tell them?" Kathleen asked.
"Whatever you want." Amanda replied. "You could always introduce yourself. Talk about your day. Anything, really."
Kathleen leaned down and said hello. "I'm your sister and I like..." She went through all the different things she liked from dance classes to only ketchup on her hamburgers.
Thomas watched her with a soft smile on his face. He didn't know which he loved seeing more: Amanda's unmistakable joy or Kathleen's sweet excitement.
"Aren't you going to talk to them, Daddy?" Kathleen asked.
He hesitated. "Of course."
His two ladies simply stared at him in anticipation.
"Right now?" He thought it was a little silly to talk to his wife's slight baby bump. "I think I'll wait until they can clearly hear me."
His wife and daughter both had identical expressions of confusion with just a hint of disappointment on their faces.
Unable to take another moment of letting either of his ladies down, he moved over to the couch and cleared his throat.
"Good evening." He searched for something else to say.
"Talk through Mommy's bellybutton, Daddy." Kathleen told him.
"It isn't a microphone." Amanda's belly trembled with her suppressed laughter.
"It might be." Kathleen scrunched her shoulders while smiling at her parents. "Daddy, tell them you make movies."
Feeling heat rise up the back of his neck, Thomas tried to follow her directions as he spoke a few more times.
He felt ridiculous.
Sensing his inability to think of topics to discuss, Amanda told Kathleen that it was bedtime to end this awkward session for him.
After accompanying them upstairs, Thomas escaped to his study under the guise of needing to work on his upcoming online lecture series.
*****************
Later that night, he climbed the stairs to check on them.
Kathleen was fast asleep with her fairy lights on a slow twinkle speed. He gently tucked the covers around her, grinning when she snuggled further under them.
He then went in search of Amanda.
Thomas found his wife already asleep in their bedroom. He carefully removed the novel she had been reading from under her hands and marked her spot for her. He reached to turn the lamp off but paused when his attention drifted down to her stomach.
With one last glance to make certain his wife was asleep, he knelt by her side of the bed and started to talk to their unborn children.
"Forgive me for that lackluster introduction earlier this evening. I'm not certain how we should go about this. I've never enjoyed one-sided conversations. Lectures are fine, but it does help to see the person's face while speaking directly to them. Not that it is either of your faults that you can't interact with me yet. For all I know you are responding in some manner and I am simply unaware of it."
He rubbed a hand down his face as he struggled to find something worthwhile to say to his children. "In case I forgot to mention who I am, I'm Thomas...your father." He softly groaned at his unrelenting awkwardness. "Of course, that is most likely a given since you already heard my voice and those of your mother and sister."
He checked once more to see if Amanda was still asleep before continuing. His gaze touched on her lips parted in sleep, her long eyelashes, the rosy tint of her cheeks.
With a smile dawning on his face, he leaned closer to her belly. "Perhaps I should tell you about how I met your mother."
He lowered his voice. "It was late one evening at a party. I should pause here and state for the record that I usually don't enjoy attending those type of events. But it was hosted by someone I actually consider a friend, therefore I was forced to accept the invitation."
He rolled his eyes at the memory of Ryan wearing him down. "Back to the party, I was standing off in a corner in an attempt to avoid another confrontation with a woman I had previously dated." He cleared his throat. "That might need to remain between us. Your mother is unaware of the reason why I was hiding out in dark corners that night. Anyway, I happened to overhear an argument from a couple that were a few feet away from me."
"Well, I thought they were a couple." Thomas muttered. "But in reality the man was a friend of your mother's and one who shares my dislike of crowded events."
He paused there so that he could carefully climb into bed without disturbing Amanda.
"Where was I? Ah. Yes. One look at your mother had me tempted to leave my hiding spot. There was something about her that I have never been able to find a clear explanation for. There still is that something that captures and holds my attention with little effort on her part. It isn't simply her beauty or her personality. Perhaps it is some combination of the two along with that mysterious element that continuously draws me to her. You will most likely notice it too once you are here with us."
He tilted his head in thought. "I wonder if you will inherit such a trait." Smiling at the notion, he continued. "So there I was, ready to take a chance of being caught by a woman I didn't care for just for a chance to meet a woman I was instantly attracted to. And it seemed that fortune smiled once more upon me."
He could see the memory so clearly in his mind: Amanda's glittery black dress that shimmered in the light with each movement. The intelligence in her eyes as she quietly observed the party. The peacefulness she somehow exuded while laughter and conversations filled the air.
"Her friend left, claiming to need a drink if he was to endure another hour or two of the party. Your mother then moved further into the shadows near where I was to sit down. There was an empty chair next to her and I asked if I might join her."
When Amanda shifted in her sleep, he lowered his voice. "When she smiled at me, it seemed that all I had been looking for in life was finally in one place. I knew in that moment that this chance meeting was something special. I decided then and there to waste not a single second in doing my utmost to charm her into my arms. And lucky for me, I succeeded."
He noticed how late it was. "I will go into further detail about my winning your mother another night. For now though, know that you both are a part of the best thing to ever happen to me. First off was falling in love with Amanda and winning hers in return. Discovering I had a daughter came next. And now you complete the very definition of my happiness. I will do all within my power to be the father you both need." His lips curved into a smile. "And I can't wait to meet you."
Thomas pressed a feather light kiss to Amanda's stomach and then a tender one to her cheek. Muffling a yawn, he left the bed to change clothes in their bathroom.
When the door clicked shut, Amanda opened her eyes.
"See little ones. I told you your father is endearingly sweet." She whispered. "He just needed a little more time to show it."

vld youtuber AU (klance, part 5)
(I apologize if the tense changes all over the place, I’m writing this as a sort of stream-of-consciousness thing because I care more about getting the idea out than writing something that’s grammatically perfect. I’ll probably clean this up and make it an actual fic once it’s all done. Thanks for reading!! :D)
part one | part two | part three | part four
There is a definite shift in Keith’s demeanor after Lance’s last visit.
They play Overwatch a few times a week, and while Keith goes into stern-leader-battle-mode when the game is going, between matches he’s loose, candid. He laughs at Lance’s jokes and makes casual conversation about his job, the garage, tells funny stories about Kosmo. Lance tells Keith stories about the customers he has at the cafe. It’s nice to hear a softness in Keith’s voice that Lance hadn’t heard before.
Keith shows up in nearly all of Lance’s Overwatch videos, even if his mic isn’t recorded. They sort of fall into a rhythm, meeting online every Tuesday and Thursday night to search for servers.
“Y’know,” Keith says one night while they’re in queue. “I wouldn’t have figured you for a sniper type.”
“Eh?” Lance is in his Widowmaker menu at that moment, flipping between two skins to see which one he likes more. “What d’you mean?”
“I don’t mean it in a bad way,” Keith clarifies, and it sounds like he’s smiling. “You just seem like more of a Mercy or a support or something. You’re really…” he pauses. “Generous. Always helping people. Then you get in here and you turn into a cold blooded assassin.”
Lance laughs. “I’ve always played a sniper, though. Gotta have balance somewhere, yeah?”
“Yeah.”
.
They text a lot. It’s all small stuff, like pet photos or memes (which Keith doesn’t understand 90% of the time and Lance finds that kind of adorable). But it’s nice. Occasionally they’ll both have an early shift, and Lance will text Keith photos of the ancient espresso grinder, captioned “this thing wants me dead” surrounded with skull emojis. Keith’s sense of humor, Lance learns, is dry as cracker juice. He gets a photo of a broken rubber floor mat with the question, “what sound does a floor mat make when it splits right before a fitness class?” Before Lance can answer, he gets another photo of the same mat, this time with Keith’s middle finger pointing soundly at it. “That sound,” says the caption. Lance laughs so hard that his boss yells at him for being on his phone during a shift.
August comes to an end, and Pidge prepares for her final term. Lance helps by assisting in an apartment clean out, getting rid of literal clutter to ease Pidge’s impending mental clutter. Lance tries not to think about how this might be their last few months in this apartment together. He’s really enjoyed living with Pidge - he wasn’t exaggerating when he said she was like a sister. Pidge is an extension of his family, ever since they met at space camp all those years ago. She’d been a tiny, fluffy, indomitable ball of pure snark and Lance loved her immediately. Since then, they’d stuck together, seeing each other through some of the hardest times. Lance had cheered his lungs out when Pidge was handed her high school diploma, and in a few months, he’d see her walk across another stage in a cap and gown to receive her bachelor’s degree in Robotic Engineering.
It made him a little misty-eyed to think about it.
Pidge is playing Stardew Valley one afternoon (how the hell did she manage to make such an insanely profitable farm before the end of year one?) when she casually brings up one of Lance’s favorite fall events.
“You gonna go to the Founder’s Fair this year?”
Lance doesn’t even look up from his phone. “Uh, is the Pope catholic?”
“Good.” On the screen, Pidge’s character gives a bouquet to Penny. Dating everyone but marrying no one: the Pidge method. “Hunk is coming in for it.”
“Sweet.”
The Harborville Founder’s Fair was the highlight of every autumn. Right as the summer was fading away and the air was showing a hint of a chill, Oceanside Park would explode into three days of carnival rides, food trucks, fireworks, and everything in between. It was also the best time of year to surf - they didn’t get much in the way of waves here, but there would always be just enough in late September to rent a board. Lance had put in his time off request a month ago, buttering up his boss with the ‘this might be my last September in Harborville’ sob story. Which was sort of true, even if he wasn’t quite ready to face that reality yet.
Lance felt like he was getting closer to Keith. He wasn’t entirely sure if that was the case, but if nothing else, Keith seemed to finally be relaxing around him. There were one or two times when Lance could almost swear Keith was flirting, but he quickly shoved the thought aside. Nope, don’t go there. That’s assuming things. Assuming is dangerous.
.
The fair is in a week and to make up for missing work on what will be one of the busiest weekends of the year, Lance is working at the cafe nearly every day. He has more steam burns on his hands and wrists from making lattes than ever, and he thinks if he hears the word “pumpkin spice” one more time he might lose it. He hasn’t played Overwatch all week, too tired from extra shifts to do anything other than zone out to Netflix when he gets home.
He’s got two hours left in his Thursday morning shift, then he’s free for the whole weekend. He can practically taste the funnel cakes now - and the Rancho Alegre food truck, the only decent source of Cuban food in the entire state, will be there. God, he’s going to eat until he can’t move.
The morning rush has come and gone and the afternoon crowd isn’t here yet, so Lance is cleaning up the mess of coffee grounds and cinnamon around his work station when the bell on the cafe door sounds. He doesn’t look up as his coworker/supervisor Romelle greets whoever walks through, too preoccupied with wondering how the hell almond milk ended up underneath the grinder.
“Hello,” says the customer and Lance totally knows that voice. He stops wiping sour milk and looks up.
It’s Shiro. And right behind him is Allura and - oh shit. It’s Keith. He’s here, he’s here in the cafe and Lance had no idea he was coming and he probably looks like shit, overworked with bags under his eyes and his face breaking out from stress and he didn’t even shampoo his hair this morning because he was running late --
But then Keith smiles at him and wow. His hair is down and he’s wearing this black and red leather jacket and it should be illegal to look that good. Especially when Lance is such a mess.
“Hi,” Lance says, hating how his voice cracks. “What are you guys doing in town?”
Shiro is pulling out his wallet with his left hand. “We came for the fair. It was always one of my favorite things about going to school here.”
“Oh,” Lance squeaks.
They’re here for the fair. Lance might get to spend time at the fair with Keith. He forces himself to focus on the present before a dozen fantasies of ferris wheel rides and sharing cotton candy can take over his brain.
They all order drinks and Lance claims them before Romelle can even finish ringing them up. Shiro gets a hazelnut americano, Allura orders a tuxedo mocha, and Keith shyly asks for a latte. Lance can tell he doesn’t go to coffee shops often and makes the drinks carefully. He can’t embellish Shiro’s americano, but he uses chocolate sauce and extra foam to draw a bow tie in Allura’s mug. For Keith’s latte, he sends a prayer to the coffee gods to grant him latte art prowess. It works, and Lance is rounding out rings of coffee and foam, pulling through to form a perfect heart.
He slides the mug across the counter to Keith, who’s eyebrow shoot into his hair. He breaths a little “wow” and blushes, taking the mug and smiling. He’s wearing fingerless leather gloves. Lance’s heart flip-flops in his chest.
The three of them find a table near the window and sit, chatting and drinking their coffee. They’re too far away for Lance to hear what they’re saying, and even if he could, he’s on the clock, and the lunchtime regulars are starting to trickle in.
Would it be gauche to text his evening shift coworker and bribe him to come in early so Lance can leave?
Lance thinks Romelle can tell he’s pouting by the way she sides up to him.
“Hey,” she whispers. “Is that the guy?”
He follows her gaze and sees that it lands firmly on the table where Keith is sitting with Shiro and Allura. Keith looks up at Lance, and smiles a little before turning back to his brother.
“Yeah,” Lance whispers back, feeling his face heat up. “The one with the long hair.”
Romelle lets out a low whistle. “Quite the catch,” she says, waggling her eyebrows. “What about the girl they’re with?”
“Allura?” Lance thinks. “I don’t know her very well, but she’s nice.”
“She single?”
Lance rolls his eyes and starts on the next drink. “No idea, you should ask her.”
It’s slower today and Lance is thankful for it. With Keith in the room, he can’t focus on anything - it’s a miracle he doesn’t catastrophically screw up the drinks he’s making. There’s a break in customers and Romelle comes over to Lance where he loading a portafilter with espresso and waves her phone.
“I’ll make you a deal,” she says, and he does not like that voice. That’s her Supervisor Voice. “I’ll call Ryan in an hour early if you get me Cute Girl’s number.”
Lance puts the tamp down. “Seriously?”
“Seriously.”
He looks over at the table where Keith is sitting. They’ve all finished their drinks and will probably be leaving soon.
“Romelle,” Lance states. “You are an evil super villain and I love you. Consider that number yours.”
Fifteen minutes later, Ryan Kinkade is walking in and he doesn’t look particularly thrilled about it. Lance takes off his apron and motions at the jar of cash by the register.
“Ryan, you’re a lifesaver and my tips are yours. Thank you!” Lance clocks out before anyone can argue and walks over to where Keith and Co are sitting. He’s very much aware of how he probably reeks of coffee and looks like garbage but does his best to smile anyway.
“My shift is over, did you guys have any plans?”
Shiro smiles and stands. “I think we were going to head to our Air B&B and check in, actually. We could use a breather after that drive. We can meet up for dinner later, if you want.”
Inwardly, Lance lets out a sigh of relief because this means he’ll have time to take a shower and make himself presentable. “That sounds good! Any place you want to go?”
Shiro shrugs. “Is Vinnie’s still open?”
Lance lights up. “Oh yeah, still as good as ever, too! Want to meet there at, uh - “ He checks his phone, it’s barely 3pm. “Around five? We should beat most of the dinner rush that way.”
They all nod and the plans are made. They walk outside together and Lance watches the three of them get into a very nice Chrysler sedan - maybe Allura’s, given how she goes for the driver’s seat. Once they’re gone, Lance heads for his car and books it home. He immediately washes and exfoliates his face, then applies an anti-inflammatory mask and works at cleaning up the apartment. It was already fairly clean since Hunk will be crashing on the pull-out sofa bed for the weekend, and he has no idea of Keith will ever even see this place, but Lance doesn’t want to take any risks.
He shoots Pidge a text to tell her about their plans in case she wants to join. Hunk isn’t due until tomorrow morning.
Apartment clean(er) and his face mask dry and itchy, Lance hops in the shower and scrubs himself sore. Keith is here and will be spending the weekend here and Lance is equal parts ecstatic and terrified. He meticulously goes through his whole grooming routine, moisturizes, swabs, trims his eyebrows, even files his nails. He checks his reflection once he’s done and thankfully his face is less red, the stress acne barely noticeable.
There’s still about 45 minutes until he needs to be at Vinnie’s so Lance takes his time picking out clothes. He settles for a low cut tank top that shows off his collarbones and a beige button down over it with the sleeves rolled up, finishing it off with a pendant necklace and grey skinny jeans. He examines himself in the mirror and frowns a little. Does it look too much like date clothes?
He doesn’t have time to change because then his phone pings and it’s Shiro, saying they’re heading to Vinnie’s a little early. Lance all but throws himself out the door.
.
Vinnie’s is starting to get crowded, Lance can already see the line forming when he parks. He spots Shiro and Allura easily, their white hair making them stand out. They’d managed to claim a patio table - no small feat - and were chatting happily.
Lance joins them and it’s amazing how welcome he feels in this group, the way Shiro half-pulls a chair out for Lance. Keith is sitting to his right, his jacket draped over the back of his chair, the black t-shirt he wore stretching nicely over his chest. And if he didn’t know any better, Lance could swear he saw Keith’s eyes sweep down his neck and linger.
They ate and laughed and ate more, drinking fancy gourmet sodas. They make loose plans for the weekend - beach tomorrow, then the fair on Saturday, and maybe brunch before they leave on Sunday. Lance educates Keith in the ways of the garlic knot, the most sacred food item on earth. And when Keith shrugs and says they’re “alright,” Lance feigns offense, gasping and clutching his chest.
Pidge joins them later, looking utterly spent from a long day of classes. Lance gives up his seat so she can collapse into it. He kneels beside the table instead, passing Pidge the last of their pizza and appetizers. Keith gives him a look, then scoots over to one side of his chair, patting the other with his hand.
Lance short circuits, looking from the empty side of the chair to Keith’s face several times.
Keith rolls his eyes. “Get up here. That,” he points to where Lance is kneeling, “Is super bad for your knees.”
“Oh?” Lance slides into place, and it’s sort of uncomfortable with half of his ass hanging off the chair, but he can feel heat pouring off Keith’s body with how close he is. “You care much about my knees?”
Keith goes super red. “I’m a physical trainer,” He said, suddenly very interested in his soda. “It’s my job to care. Doing stuff like that will ruin them.”
“Right.”
Lance glances over at Pidge, who had a garlic knot halfway to her mouth and giving Lance the most predatory grin. He glares at her to shut down whatever evil plans she might be formulating.
They finally finish the food and decide to stop taking up a table, bussing it themselves to save the staff some work. Instead of a bar, they decide to head over to Lance and Pidge’s apartment to chill - half because Pidge isn’t 21 yet and wouldn’t be able to join them at most of the bars in town, and half because Vinnie’s was so loud that they’re all craving some quiet.
Lance is so thankful that his past self had the sense to clean a little more. They all sprawl out over the living room, Lance going to pull a chair from the kitchen to sit on so the guests can have the nice couch and Pidge can curl up in the easy chair. Lance offers up the ice cream sandwiches from the freezer and everyone takes one; Allura seems to be examining hers with great interest, like she’s never had one before.
Shiro talks a lot, mostly about what Harborville was like when he and Matt were in college. About their first apartment that should probably have been condemned, the dogs he’d walk between classes for extra cash. Eventually Lance’s cats come out of hiding to investigate, and Keith goes starry-eyed at Batou’s big green eyes and plush grey coat.
Pidge falls asleep in her chair just after nine. Everyone takes a second to coo at how cute she is before Lance bends down to scoop her up.
“Lemme put sleeping beauty here to bed. If she stays there she’ll be sore and cranky when she wakes up.”
He takes Pidge to her room and sets her on her bed, then wrestles her sneakers off her feet, setting her glasses on the bedside table and draping a sheet over her. When he goes back into the living room and sits in the chair he’d removed Pidge from, Allura gives him a fond look.
“You’re very sweet to her.”
Lance shrugs. “She’s pretty much family. Also, I have to do that all the time. I’ve found her face down on her homework out here more times than I want to count.”
They talk for another two hours. Lance feels a little lonely with Keith sitting on the side of the couch furthest from him, but then again, if he was closer, Lance isn’t sure his brain would work. Allura yawns wide.
“I think it’s time we turned in,” she states. “I’d like to get some rest before the weekend starts.”
Shiro agrees. Lance ends up seeing them off in the parking lot, waving as they drive away.
.
Hunk arrives just after 10am the next morning, armed with bags of groceries to pack a picnic for the beach. He puts Lance and Pidge on an assembly line in the kitchen, making pork sandwiches, vegetable rolls, hummus wraps, crab and radish tartines, potato salad, and chocolate-dipped clementine slices. He’d picked up a package of Lance’s favorite lemon cream cookies and Lance could almost kiss him for it.
With their precious picnic food carefully packed in an ice chest along with plenty of drinks, Lance shot a group text to Keith, Shiro, and Allura to ask if they were ready for the beach. He got confirmation quickly, and they agreed to hit the north shore near the lighthouse, where the sand was rougher but the tourists tended to be a little thinner.
Parking is a bitch but they find a spot, then wait by the trunk for Keith and Co to arrive. About ten minutes later Lance sees Allura’s Chrysler pull in to a spot. They walk over to meet them and Lance is practically bouncing, because 1) he gets to go to the beach, 2) he gets to go surfing with Hunk, 3) he gets to spend time with new friends, and 4) Keith is here. Everyone is in shorts and light shirts, Allura has this big floppy sun hat that is absolutely precious on her, and Keith’s face is shiny with sunscreen. Lance bets that fair skin of his will still be red by the end of the day.
They find a spot that’s decently clear and set up. Hunk, Keith, and Lance tackle the portable canopy that will hopefully keep them all from becoming completely sunburned while Allura and Pidge set out the sand blanket and arrange their stuff to keep the wind from blowing it away. Once they’re settled, the ice chest is opened and sodas and juice are passed around. The wind is strong today but not enough to be a problem for their canopy, and the waves are large and plentiful. Lance eyes the surfboard rental shack a quarter mile down the beach.
Once they’ve had enough of snacking and chatting, Lance gives Hunk fingerguns and they almost take off down the beach together, making a beeline for the surfboards. Rolo is working it as usual and after some searching they find the perfect boards and duck into the changing tent to get into their springsuits. Lance has the white and blue suit up over his hips and was about to pull it the rest of the way on when he remembers that Keith is sitting out there. Ever since Lance learned he was a Crossfit trainer, he’d started running and working out again. He wasn’t in as good a shape as he was when he’d been swimming competitively, but thanks to months of regular exercise, he at least sort of looked the part again. And maybe he wanted to show off a little. So Lance left the top of his springsuit open and hanging from his hips as they went back to the group with their boards.
“Showoff,” Hunk accused while they were still out of earshot of everyone else.
Lance subtly flexed his chest. “So? I worked hard for this.”
When they got back to the canopy, Lance did his best to act nonchalant as he set his board aside and started pulling his springsuit up over his chest. Keith was definitely looking at him. Mission accomplished.
His flirty nature satisfied, it was time to surf. Lance missed this so much, the first step into the ocean water was like heaven. He and Hunk paddled out until the water was smooth, then sat on their boards and waited. They didn’t have to wait long, Hunk caught the first good wave that came their way, riding it out and away. Lance caught the next one, and it was a crazy high. It just felt so good, cutting through the water with his board, turning, riding through tunnels of blue-green. The waves tossed him, wrecked him, dragged his body against the sand below. But every time, Lance would surface, shake it off, and paddle out for another go.
His legs finally started to shake, so Lance hauled his board back to the shore. Hunk was already sitting under the canopy again, changed out of his springsuit and sipping on a juice box.
“I was gonna give you ten more minutes before I dragged you out of the water,” Hunk said.
Lance didn’t reply, chest heaving as he caught his breath. His board hits the sand and he all but collapses onto the sand sheet, his ears ringing.
A water bottle appeared in his periphery. Lance looked up enough to trace the hand that held it back to Keith, who was wearing this cute little smile. Lance smiled back and took the bottle, downing half of it in one gulp.
Pidge starts pulling out food and Lance blindly eats whatever is handed to him, too exhausted to care what it is. It’s all delicious but with how many calories he burned surfing, he could probably be eating stale saltines and they’d taste like a delicacy. He leans back on the sand sheet and basks in the post-surf euphoria.
Lance notices everyone starting to get up. Allura is holding several frisbees with a gleam in her eye, and most of the group is rising to join her. Keith stands and, after fiddling with the collar of his shirt for a second, reaches back and pulls it over his head, letting it drop to the ground.
Lance is instantly awake because holy shit. Keith is ripped. He’s all tight skin and perfect muscles and - oh.
He’d been wrong when he’d assumed Keith’s tattoo was a wolf. It’s actually a lion, roaring fiercely, emblazoned in dark red ink over his left hip.
Keith takes a hair tie off his wrist and uses it to pull his hair up high on the back of his head. He shoots Lance a loaded glance before walking out into the sun to join everyone else for a game of frisbee tag. Lance memorizes the muscles of his back as he goes.
“Good god, you’re so loud.”
Lance sits up and turns to see Pidge, sitting in the center of the sand sheet in her shorts and green rash guard, with her phone in one hand and a cookie in the other.
“I didn’t say anything!” Lance protests. Pidge just cocks an eyebrow at him.
“Not with words, anyway.”
Lance frowns, then dares to look back out at his friends, finding Keith and tracking his movements across the beach.
.
They empty the ice chest of food and drink and, after several more hours of beach fun, they decide to pack it in and head out. Lance is going to remember this day for the rest of his life - the image of Keith glistening wet as he walked out of the ocean had finally taught Lance the meaning of the phrase “looks good enough to eat.”
Lance is so, so tired. Surfing wore him out but he still played a round of beach volleyball after that, and then swam some more. He’s going to be so sore tomorrow. He drives himself, Hunk, and Pidge back to their apartments to shower and change before they head over to the Air B&B where Shiro, Keith, and Allura are staying. Lance decides on a regular shirt and his favorite jeans, only bothering to put a single layer of moisturizer on his face.
The Air B&B turns out to be a whole house, with a yard and a little deck where they all gather around faded patio furniture as Shiro hands out beers. He gives Pidge a look as she takes one for herself.
“What?” She says as she twists off the top of the bottle. “I’m gonna be 21 in a few months, I’m in safe company, and I’m not driving.”
Shiro just sighs and sits down.
They talk and laugh for hours. Pidge only has one beer before switching to sweet tea, and Lance is a little relieved. He has no idea what drunk Pidge would be like and he’d rather not find out this weekend - he would be cash money that she’d be ornery as hell. Hunk orders some delivery from their favorite noodle place when Lance isn’t paying attention. Keith looks happy as a kid on Christmas with a giant bowl of pho in front of him, and Lance learns that Vietnamese food is his favorite.
They move inside once the sun goes down to keep from bothering the neighbors. Lance settles into a corner of the faded couch, and is too tired to panic when Keith sits next to him. Hunk launches into a story about his last term at school when he almost blew the breaker for the entire engineering building and Lance tries to pay attention, but he’s worn out and Keith is radiating heat like a furnace. Combine that with his full stomach and a couple of beers and he’s so, so sleepy.
Someone is calling his name and Lance inhales sharply, eyes fluttering open. It was Hunk, who’s smiling at him from across the coffee table. Lance is leaning on something warm and solid. He rubs his eyes and looks up.
He was leaning on Keith.
Lance’s eyes bug out but Keith just looks down at him with this tiny smile and a blush on his cheeks. Lance suddenly feels like the room is a million degrees as he carefully sits up.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to pass out.”
Keith laughs softly. “It’s fine.”
They all start to wrap up their stories and conversations. Lance doesn’t know what time it is but it feels late, and since they want to hit the fair tomorrow, they should all get some sleep. Hunk offers to drive home and Lance hands him the keys as Keith, Shiro, and Allura wave goodbye from the front porch.
He almost falls asleep again in the ten minutes it takes Hunk to drive them back to their apartment. Lance helps set up the pull-out sofa, then goes to brush his teeth. He’s practically nodding off at the bathroom sink when Pidge comes up to him and pulls out her phone.
“Thought you should see this,” she says, holding it up.
On the screen is a photo of Keith, and, with his head resting on Keith’s shoulder dead asleep, Lance. Keith is looking down at him and definitely blushing.
The toothbrush stills in Lance’s mouth as he swipes the phone from Pidge’s hand, using his thumbs to pull and zoom. Keith was smiling.
“Please send this to me immediately,” Lance tells her, words muffled from the toothbrush still hanging from between his teeth.
He’s in bed setting his alarm when he gets the text from Pidge with the photo attached. And if Lance hugs a pillow and kicks his feet a little at the sight, who could blame him?
.

hello !!! omg yalls admin names are so CUTE it makes me hungry it’s currently 1am where im at 🤤 anyways if the boys at karasuno were youtubers instead, what kind of videos do u think theyd post? discussion is OPEN
Hi anon!! We’re glad you like our admin names !! We were pretty hungry when we made them hehe. Also thank you for this ask and for being our first anon!! We had a lot of fun doing this!! We were laughing so much while we were facetiming as we did it!! So thank you again and much love! Hope you enjoy!! ❤️ - Noodle ✨, BananaMilk 🐯, and Frice 🌊
Karasuno as YouTubers AU
School: Karasuno
Genre: Headcanons, fluff, crack
Warnings: one mention of alcohol
HINATA SHOYO & KAGEYAMA TOBIO
Hinata definitely dragged Kageyama to make this channel
He only agreed if they did things they both could do
So, they have a whole Volleyball 101 series like how to receive, block, set, etc. They also help teach like volleyball fundamentals and strategies!
They also do exercise and stretch tutorials
Kags would have a series of good and healthy food while Hinata would vlog about his days which mostly are about playing volleyball and biking lol PLUS interview his friends especially during training camps like Kenma and Bokuto.
They do lives sometimes but they always end up fighting/bickering somehow and it becomes popular content
SUGAWARA KOUSHI
Actual DIY king!!
He has a DIY channel for pen pals, bookmarks, socks, candles, slime, etc.
He will even do the really weird life hacks to see if they work or not
Very soft and pastel with a sprinkle of chaos because it is Sugawara
Vibes of those angry home cafe videos like one minute he’s making really cute cakes but another minute he’s punching the air and pouring chocolate all over his hand
His videos are popular not only because he’s so sweet and friendly (and chaotic) but also because he’s so pretty (has many girls and guys in the comments like “are you single uwu”)
SAWAMURA DAICHI
You know that dad on YouTube with the “how to…”? That’s Daichi
Examples of the videos are like “How to fix your tire” or “How to manage your finances”
He also loves to tell about his life and just gives advice like “What it means to be responsible” or “Tips for proper and open communication”
Also has “funnier” bits like “How I managed 11 demons (10 children + 1 vice-captain)”
(it’s 30 mins and most of the time it’s actually just chaotic bits of volleyball practice from their school and even when they are at the Japan camp)
(also the boys from the schools (read: Bokuto and Kuroo) take the camera at one point and just bombards the video)
NISHINOYA YUU & TANAKA RYUUNOSUKE
We all know they have a joint acct!! Their channel is like Korean Englishmen/Jolly
They love to vlog whether it's about school, their trips, volleyball practice, just anything!!
They also love to do all the challenges and trends
Their most viewed video is of them trying do the fire noodle challenge bc they almost DIED eating it
(they chugged a whole bottle of milk between themselves and even went to the store to buy more and bathed themselves in it)
TSUKISHIMA KEI & YAMAGUCHI TADASHI
Their channel is like Buzzfeed Unsolved/The Watchers !!
Yama is Ryan and Tsukki is Shane. Chaos and debates obviously happen.
Would collaborate with Tanka and Noya or the other first years to go to a local haunted house place together and record their reactions/experiences. Buzzfeed unsolved way.
Separate sections: tsukki makes a playlist of music and yamaguchi local food restaurant reviews(think Worth It).
Reaction videos to music videos (it’s fun to watch them because tsukki usually maintains his cool stance and yamaguchi is completely honest with his feelings. Tsukki mostly criticises and analyzes musical technicalities, but sometimes when he’s amazed you can see his eyes widen.
YACHI HITOKA
Her channel is mostly drawing tutorials + speed painting!!
Also does Adobe product tutorials, very technical but also cutesy aesthetic like she has a her own character (that’s a baby chick) at the corner of her videos
Vlogs where she live records her drawing + sometimes rants about the torture of rendering 3D animation
She actually vlogged the one time she spent 28 hours at the library trying to render a video that was 1 minute and 30 seconds long...
She does some baking videos and sometimes does collab with Asahi’s channel!! Because of their height differences, the top of Asahi’s head is often cut off from the screen
Kiyoko makes frequent appearances at Yachi’s channel and everyone loves when she comes on
SHIMIZU KIYOKO
She would have an ASMR channel that mostly focuses on her hands and the objects she’s using
She doesn’t like showing her face or having anything attached to her so no one ever knows it’s her (she’s uncomfy with all the attention vs. when she’s on Yachi’s channel where the attention is shared)
But she becomes like one of the top ASMR channels bc her vibes are really soft and also super aesthetic
Also, SOUND QUALITY !!! exquisite !!! best crunches, taps, scratches, etc.
Her most popular ASMR video is the one where she roleplays as a witch
NARITA KAZUHITO & KINOSHITA HISAHI
They have an anime/Marvel channel together!
Top 10 Anime Betrayals, Top 10 Anime Deaths, Best 2020 Anime Shows, Could this character beat Goku discussion/debate, etc. You name it. They have it.
They do reaction videos to anime shows/movies/marvel trailers.
Civil War Debate: Who Was Right (a lot of differing opinions so its LONG), All Marvel movies Ranked, Funniest moments in Marvel compilations, etc.
Their most popular video is when they made a funny video pretending to be BNHA heroes and have quirks. They invited the other 2nd years as well and it was a MESS but they had fun making it and editing it with bad effects and all.
ENNOSHITA CHIKARA
Of course our choir boy has a singing channel (covers, original songs, collaborations, etc.)
Plays guitar and sometimes posts acapella videos
He does youtube live with his fans and talks about his day, what he is working on, his favorite songs/musicals, etc. He answers their questions too!!
Ennoshita does a collaboration series with Takeda sensei (our musical lover) reacting and discussing music videos/songs. Very knowledgeable and calming vibes
He does it with the Karasuno team too and those become his most popular videos because they are SOOO chaotic and funny. Complete opposite of when he does a collab with Takeda sensei
AZUMANE ASAHI
Mainly a cooking channel that specializes in easy recipes!!
He also does a miniature food series. You would think he would have a hard time but he is very adept with small instruments.
Bakes sometimes due to Yachi’s influence, loves to bake bread from scratch.
Fashion tips : “How to layer clothes,” “How to find your aesthetic”, “How to do monochrome looks right”, etc.
He did a makeover series on the Karasuno team where he diagnoses and dresses them up from head to toe
One of his popular series is “How to cook/bake without a recipe” and the Karasuno group are invited to do it in teams! It is pure entertainment lol.
BONUS~
Coach Ukai and Takeda sensei make frequent appearances in Daichi’s channel / Hinata & Kageyama’s channel
Takeda sensei also goes food hunting with Yamaguchi sometimes and will leave reviews for the restaurant drinks (alcohol

Discussion (College AU): 2
(Note: Boy ooohh booooy, do i love Brian, yessir, Brian’s my favorite to write for. This is a direct continuation of this)
Ship: Jiggly/Wildcat/Terroriser
Characters: Terroriser, Moo Snuckel, Jiggly, Vanoss (mentioned), Delirious (mentioned), Wildcat (mentioned), Ohm (mentioned).
Word Count: 1146
Brock paused, his mind drawing a blank at the words Brian uttered. "You... Like Ant too?" he repeated, tilting his head. Brian nodded and groaned. "I'm not proud of it!" He clarified, as if that was ever a question. "I'm just... Confused. Don't tell 'em please..."
Sympathetically, Brock sighed out a smile and nodded. "Don't tell Evan that I like him and we have a deal," he promised. Brian looked into his eyes for a sign of a lie before he smiled with exhausted feelings. "Thank ye, Brock."
They hung out for a little after that, which mostly involved Brian interrogating Brock about the book he was reading, before they left the library together. Brock gave the librarian a wave on their way out that made Brian chuckle. It was a nice act you'd expect from him.
"Ye wanna grab a bite?" Brian asked, "The dining hall is bound to be open." Brock hummed in consideration before he shook his head. "No, I shouldn't. I told Marcel and Lui that I'd cook tonight," he explained, rubbing his neck. "Don't your roommates cook for ya?" he asked, glancing to catch Brian smile, holding back a laugh. "Ye think I'd trust David or Scott with me food?" he laughed lightly, "Please tell me ya remember the July incident."
"Oh god no," Brock scrunched up his face with a pained look. Brian could have probably seen the flames of the memory in his eyes if he looked. "I never ever want you three cooking- I swear I didn't need to remember that," he groaned.
Brian laughed it off.
They parted ways with Brian heading to the dining hall and Brock heading back to his dorm.
It was a nice walk, the campus was illuminated by a few lamp posts and students were still out and about, so Brian could pick up on a few of the latest stories from around the school.
He walked into the building with a smile, the smell of some good food hitting him first and he sighed blissfully. He needed a good meal. He pulled out his meal card and stood in line, waiting to be checked in.
His eyes were now mostly focusing between the line and his phone, until he felt a hand get placed on his shoulder. "Hey, Brian!"
He nearly jumped out of his skin in surprise, turning his head to catch a glance of Anthony. Now, a little relieved, he sighed and smiled in exasperation. "Hey, Anthony," he greeted, gaining a little laugh. "Hey! Sorry for sneaking up on you," he clearly didn't mean it from the little giggles leaving him, but Brian didn't mind that much. "Uhhuh. Whatever."
Brian felt his stomach twist just from being around Anthony. It was a good feeling, but he didn't exactly like it. He felt it best to ignore, but Anthony was a little touchy. Every shoulder tap or pat on the back made him feel like burning up into a small flame of embarrassing love.
Love? Man, Brian was taken back by that word. He didn’t know if he’d call this love, per se. Maybe more just a general fling of attraction? A one sided sense of aw? God, he was spiraling so much he had finally hit his poetic/not poetic stage of thoughts!
“Bri?”
He was dragged back to reality with Anthony’s voice, and he glanced at him only to be gestured towards the front. The line had gone, and now it was his turn. “Oh- oh, right, my bad,” he chuckled awkwardly and walked up, allowing the staff member to scan his meal card before he stepped aside and waited for Anthony to join him.
“So what’s got you acting like an airhead?” Anthony asked once his card got scanned. “I’m not actin like an airhead,” Brian argued back, heading off with him towards the food area where they each grabbed a tray that they intended to stack up with plates. What a luxury. “You sure? Cause you spaced out back there for a bit,” Anthony mumbled, stopping to grab some pasta right away. Brian went to the salad bar next door to fix himself up one. “I’m positive,” he decided, his tone full of affirmation.
Anthony hummed, almost in a doubtful way, but he didn’t really touch on it. “Sure, okay,” he shrugged as he finished off his plate. “Hey, mind if we sit near the back? Tyler is s’pose to be here in a few,” Anthony requested.
Did he just assume they were going to eat together because they happened to be there together? Maybe Brian wanted to eat alone!
“Yeah, that’s fine,” Brian agreed with a nod. Damn it, Brian.“What’s got him kept up anyways?” he added. “Evan,” Anthony answered simply, a grin forcing itself onto his face. “Oh god,” Brian groaned as he moved to the next station to grab a burger. “What’s he doin now?” he asked. “Same old, same old,” Anthony laughed gently. “But maybe a little more sense he’s also out with Jon and Ryan.”
Brian huffed, a laugh following because he could already picture Tyler scolding them but not for too long before he started laughing. The thought of Tyler’s laugh filled Brian’s head and made him feel bubbly, happy. He honestly couldn’t wait to hear it.
“Earth to Brian,” Anthony sung, a tease. “Ah! Right- right. Do ye know what they three were up to?” he spoke quickly, his steps following that pattern as he hurried to the dessert counter. Anthony smiled almost fondly and followed after. “Not a clue,” he answered as they reached the area, “Something to do with fireworks.”
Every week it was something new with them- the group in general. Fireworks was one of the least surprising things Brian’s heard to be involved in a scheme. It was at least underneath a circus clown mob (a scheme Jon was very adamant about) and enough fake snow to fill an apartment or three plus an indoor ice skating rink (which was just a really slippery kitchen floor). John and Jaren were behind that one- though Evan had helped out along with a very, very reluctant Brock.
Brian snickered and he reached out to grab a brownie, accidentally brushing fingers with Anthony. He immediately flinched back, and grew more flustered as he heard Anthony laugh softly. “Sorry man, you can have it if you want!” he apologized and gestured to the treat. Brian looked towards it, he looked at it like it just did something wrong and needed to go to prison. “N-no- no! Go ahead and take it!” Brian smiled shakily and then he grabbed a plate with a few cookies on it. “I’ll enjoy these instead!” Anthony shot him a small glance, and Brian met his eyes, resisting the urge to look away. Then, Anthony smiled. “If you insist!” And he grabbed the brownie.

Yes! Steven rilling Andrew up is an daily thing tbh. I loved your observations on the last 3eps of worth it. The sounds they made in the savory pie ep were WILD, get a room (with only one bed lol, classic theme that i enjoy even if it's cliche❤️). Btw do you know this fic called sweet stuff? I rec it, Steven + dress is *chef kiss*. Also off topic i love those AU in which Andrew is a history teacher and Steven is an engineer and both are basically nerd af but in the cutest way possible
Steven, no matter how innocent, is just too naive at times to resist! He does things that are so innocent, and tbh, it sometimes flies by me as well, but Andrew always always notices so tbh, sometimes Steven doesn't even have to try and rile Andrew up lmao bitch gets riled up on his own
And Worth it’s last three ep’s? We all can just clearly see the heart eyes Steven and Andrew give each other. IT’S THAT STRONG. QUARANTINE CAN’T CONTAIN THEM lmao Also, I remember that part with Steven talking about soulmates and such, him calling him and Andrew soulmates and that’s just *sighs dreamily* they truly do love each other that much (PS: I keep forgetting to gif that part, I’ve been so busy recently lol)
AND YES YES, I KNOW THAT FANFIC IT IS FUCKING AMAZING UGHHHHHH ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ It’s one of the few fics I always re-read (most of the fics I reread are either smut or age-regression tbh) Steven is a dress iss sooooo good, especially when he’s in his cute pastel fluffy element. That fanfic was an amazing mixture of fluffy and smutty and goddddd, the author really delivered to us! THEY MADE A MASTERPIECE *chef kiss as well*
AND DID YOU JUST SAY ENGINEER STEVEN!? *whips out a couple of my unfinished fanfics*
If I could direct your lovely attention here Anon lol, I made this promo post before for my Standrew Tenshibyou AU. This one is gonna be long as well and I haven’t finished it yet lmao but a bit of spoiler, Steven is an engineer here and while Andrew, not really a history teacher, is a dietician. I wanted him to have a job that still involves food, but more on research and I decided on this uwu ❤️
tbh, that fanfic doesn’t even have a title yet lmao Can’t decide whether to name it as Angels & Demons or Angel Sanctuary tbh will think of more soon lol
I have another Engineer!Steven, but it’s also in the gothic-horror genre lmao It’s a Doctor Sleep AU, and more of a Stadamdrew rather than just Standrew ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
but hmmmm History teacher Andrew and Engineer Steven is also a very good AU e.e I do love the idea of them being such nerds together e.e Anon, how dare u give me another idea lmaooo THIS IS A VERY GOOD IDEA THO
Okay, so let’s start it off like this:
Shane and Andrew work at the same university, they’re both history teachers so let’s just make this a huge university (idk how it is in America, but my old uni had double professors at times lol). Shane is trying to invite Andrew and Adam to one of their outings because Shane wants his fellow professor to go out and enjoy, he thinks Andrew is too focused on his work needs to loosen up a bit.
Andrew, begrudgingly, finally agrees as long as Adam goes along with him (Adam didn’t need to be persuaded, because he had a very healthy social lifestyle thank you very much).
They meet at this swanky bar where Shane is off to meet his boyfriend Ryan. Ryan, incidentally, brought along his bestfriend Steven who just RECENTLY CAME OUT AS GAY. Ryan is trying to show his bestfriend a good time and maybe *nudge nudge* set him up with someone cute while he’s at it.
OH OH I WANT A LOVE TRIANGLE BETWEEN ADAM AND ANDREW AND STEVEN.
Adam really, only went along cuz he’s actually been pinning on Andrew for a while now, but Andrew hasn’t really noticed because too busy with work duh.
So the three of them meet at the bar and Andrew is actually pretty interested at Steven, he thinks he’s cute, he’s funny, and he has that bubbly personality that draws Andrew in... Too bad he looks like he’s more attracted to Adam though.
Adam flirts a little with Steven and they get along swimmingly well and it only adds to Andrew’s sour mood because hey he’s supposed to be having a good time, but the only guy he’s interested in doesn’t seem to notice him that much
So, the night ends, Adam gets Steven’s number and Andrew is just pissed off
Days pass, Steven and Andrew meet by accident!
Well, not entirely, because Shane actually invited Steven over to his class because he wanted Steven to demonstrate the history of chemicals when it came to the revolution of man and who better to explain chemistry than a chemist himself!
So, Steven asks Andrew if he could help him find Shane because he got lost since the university is big and Andrew, seriously, Steven is cute and Andrew is a decent guy so he helps Steven out and they get to talking and one thing led to another, they’re getting coffee after work hours! Andrew is really not trying to get his hopes up, this is just a simple coffee, Steven just wants to take a break and all that.
So they get coffee, they talk alot, Steven is a big nerd with history as well and Andrew is all the more intrigued with him. Steven explains more the history of chemicals and such, and he’s so passionate and knowledgeable in his field that Andrew just can’t help but listen to him babble on and on about it.
Then, Steven stops, looks at Andrew shyly and says “Sorry, I sometimes get carried away, hope I’m not boring you.”
And Andrew’s all like shaking his head and saying “No, I love listening to you talk.” And Steven gets all blushy and happy and woah, Andrew loves seeing that.
By the end of their coffee “date”, Steven ends up inviting Andrew to a convention. And to both of their surprises, it’s a CAT CONVENTION THAT THEY BOTH PLANNED ON ATTENDING. They both end up showing pictures of their cats, Steven with Simba and Andrew with Riceball and Wellington.
So Andrew is just really charmed, he really likes Steven and he can’t wait for their next ehem, “date”. He’s so excited he tells his bestfriend Adam about it.
Adam, although he did like Steven, has been pinning for Andrew for a long time now. So on the day of the cat convention, both Steven and Andrew meet Adam there as a surprise, Adam ambushed them lmaooo
Adam makes up some bullshit excuse about coming here because he was in the neighborhood and he thought he’d drop by, Andrew is suspicious because why would Adam suddenly come here? What is his ulterior motive here?
So the three of them hang out and Steven is a bit flustered because he likes BOTH Andrew and Adam and this is a bit awkward and there’s some tension here and there so yeah
So the convention ends and they all bid their goodbye’s, and Steven is a tiny bit upset because he wanted to really hang out with Andrew but, he was feeling shy around Adam. Yet at the same time, Adam didn’t really even call him back after that night at the bar.
So lo and behold! Andrew suddenly texts Steven on his way home, he wanted to know if Steven wants to hang out again and this time, maybe just the two of them? Andrew isn’t going to drop the date word yet, he wants to say it face to face cuz he’s that type of guy and Steven happily agrees!
SOOOO THEY GO ON “DATES” , Andrew hasn’t really dropped the date word yet, but Steven is always taking him on so many different places and good restaurants to eat at and the more Andrew spends time with Steven, the more he actually think that he may be falling in love and fuckkkk
wait, I want this to end in Stadamdrew
So, let’s develop Steven and Adam’s relationship this time.
Steven gathers up his courage and contacts Adam, he was planning on just telling Adam that it was nice to see him again after the cat convention. Adam decides to entertain Steven for now and they talk through text and woah, they actually really have a lot in common as well!
Steven is into photography and good books, they also have the same music tastes so they exchange and give recommendations to each other a lot. Steven told Adam that it’s okay if they’re just friends and he just wanted to hang out with him. Adam sees that there’s nothing wrong with giving the guy a chance so they go on book “dates” together and go to music stores and laugh a lot and watch shitty movies together to make fun of and oh
oh no, Adam is actually genuinely starting to like Steven and fuck, this was not how he was intending for this to go but like, Steven is really great and he loves his smile, his laugh, and he is such a smart and talented person and fuckkk Adam got so whipped over Steven that he doesn’t even know why he didn’t bother to call Steven again after that night at the bar!
Meanwhile, Steven is having a crises! Oh no!
He likes both Adam and Andrew and they’re both bestfriends and fuckk!! Okay, he thinks that maybe they’re both just really nice and they aren’t really interested in him but, Steven really likes both of them and gosh, this is not how he wanted things to go down in his life right now
I’m thinking Andrew would make he first more here, like he would officially ask Steven out and Steven would be really ecstatic because like YES!! He does really like Andrew and gosh, he is so so happy to be dating him and they’re both having a great time together and Shane and Ryan keep teasing them and well...
Everything is great, but they both notice that Adam has become really distant and quiet recently. He’s been cancelling on hanging out and he doesn’t really talk to them that much anymore and Andrew is more concerned because Adam is best friend and he’s never seen Adam be like that, not since, he ehem got his heart broken so Andrew wants to make his friend happy again
Steven comes along to help out and they annoy Adam almost every day until Adam SNAPS and he gets pissed at both of them and then all confessions break out that Adam is actually really REALLY happy for them but at the same time he’s really not?! Because he likes both Andrew and Steven, and he’s really been pinning over Andrew for the longest time now and now that he’s seeing both Steven and Andrew together, two guys he really likes, he’s just really sad and jealous and he walks out and Andrew and Steven are stunned.
The boyfriends do a sleepover at Andrew’s place and they talk about it and Andrew realizes that oh fuck he really likes Adam as well and wow, Steven also really likes Adam and he was having a crisis before because he wanted to both date Andrew and Adam and damnnnn
So the ending is basically Steven and Andrew woo-ing Adam to become their boyfriend and it becomes a happy OT3 Stadamdrew ❤️ The End ❤️
jfc this got so long I am so sorry, I am supposed to be updating my fanfic but this happened lmaooooo hope u like it tho anon, this was a wild ride for me XD
#Anonymous#Anonnie#Standrew#holy fuck#this reply got so fucking long#i am so sorry#but u give me such good ideas anon lmao#this fucked me up#i got whippedlashed by this#maybe i should think about writing this one as well#lol#oh#almost forgot to tag this as#Stadamdrew#as well#❤️

Fic: the beginning is the end is the beginning
Rating: Mature
Fandom: Buzzfeed Unsolved, Godzilla: King of the Monsters
Pairing: Ryan Bergara/Shane Madej
Warning: Apocalyptic!End!Of!The!World stuff, mentions of dead people, mass suicides
Summary: The Titans have returned. The world has ended. The Ghoul Boys are still here.
Notes: HO-KAY. This is dedicated to @theawfuledges, who has always been super sweet, super supportive, and who had a bad day a while back and deserved something then but I. Take. FOREVER.
Inspired by this sorta-not-really-prompt-post and also the fact that @theawfuledges seems to also enjoy Godzilla. This is the Shyan!Godzilla!AU NO one asked for and probably NO one will care about - but! I had fun writing it enough that I’d consider coming back to it at some point - I mean, why not, amiright?
Anyway - excuse all my philosophizing about the end of the world via Titans and enjoy…
AO3 Link
They’ve been walking through the wasteland for almost an hour now and Shane can still feel Ryan’s eyes on his back. He ignores it, as he’s been ignoring it. He’s even whistled a tuneless song on and off during their walk, just to rub it in. A sort of reminder that he’s oblivious and doesn’t know Ryan’s trying to burn a hole through him. I mean, he does know, but it’s just…it’s too funny.
Ryan is always too funny when’s worked up into a snit. No, not funny…cute. Something Shane probably shouldn’t think about, but think he does. The best way to try to not think about it? Antagonize the little guy. So antagonize he does, finally stopping in their rambles to squat down at a larger than usual rock he’s kicked at.
It didn’t make him stumble exactly, but it caught his attention enough to make him stop and bend down. He tosses the smooth white stone around in one palm, grinning, “Well, well, well…ain’t you a nifty lookin’ fella…”
He stands back up, fully aware that Ryan has stopped a few feet behind him and is still glaring. Hell, he’s probably reached seething at this point. Balled up fists shaking at his sides and the mere idea of that imagery – the utter adorableness of it – breaks Shane’s resolve, “What?”
“Really?!” Ryan finally explodes and his voice cracks over the word and Jesus, the guy is too goddamn precious for words, “A rock?! That’s what catches your attention?!”
“Sure! This baby could be a geode! Just need to crack ‘er open and see if she sparkles!” Shane returns as he waggles the stone in Ryan’s direction, lips curled in a devious smile. He finally turns to look behind him and see Ryan and oh, no.
Shane wants to press a hand to his heart. Ryan has moved beyond cute, beyond adorable, beyond precious. He’s reached that level where it takes all of Shane’s willpower not to dart right over and kiss the breath out of him as Ryan cries, “I’ve been shooting death daggers at you for over an hour now!”
“Have you?”
“Yes, you monumental jackass! And I know you know it!”
Shane can only chuckle and Ryan frantically waves his arms about, “It’s been weeks now and we still have yet to talk about it! We just go out for recons, talk banal shit, and you – you stop for a fucking pebble instead of doing what you should do!”
Shane merely raises his eyebrows, that question enough and Ryan comes closer, breath all huffy and puffy and the perfect representation of a temper tantrum in human form, “Which is give me the world’s biggest fucking apology!”
“…for?”
“FOR?!” Another word cracked by hysteria, “Being right! Monsters exist! Or is this-” Ryan yet again waves about, waves around at the miles and miles of baked, orange earth and uprooted, long dead trees. The rubble of buildings long since lost, the endless expanse of nothing but baseless destruction – “-not proof enough for you?!”
Shane just dips the rock in Ryan’s direction like it’s the tip of a pointer, “Never said monsters weren’t real. I said ghosts weren’t,” he draws the rock back and continues walking, voice very sage, “And that continues to be a fact." He turns away and starts walking again, "Now the Titans? Oh man, those boys are flesh and blood. Meat and bone. Just like Bigfoot and hey, do you think-?”
“…stop it…”
Shane turns to look at him again even as he continues walking backwards, “-Bigfoot is a Titan?”
Ryan only stops to pinch the bridge of his nose. His earlier anger has finally spooled out of him thanks to his outburst, leaving only his normal Shane-oriented exhaustion, “I mean, he’s no Godzilla or Gidroah-”
“Ghidorah.”
“Hmm?”
Ryan’s tone is bone weary, “You said it wrong. It’s Ghidorah.”
Shane just waves a hand like it’s no big deal and Ryan stands up a little taller, clearly offended by the gesture. Perfectionist. Shane is pretty sure his smile is never going to leave, “Whatever. But Bigfoot…he can hang with the big boys, right?”
“I don’t think Bigfoot is capable of leveling Los Angeles which, news flash, is what happened when Godzilla and the other Titans trampled through!”
“It was their world first, pal,” is his amicable response, “We just have to do our best to live with it.”
Ryan looks less than pleased at that revelation and Shane can’t blame him. Still…
Finally Shane sobers, stopping to look at Ryan with all due seriousness, “Ryan…”
He doesn’t say any more. He doesn’t have to. Ryan just gives his own subdued head bob because, well, it’s the truth. They do have to do their best to live with it. What else can they do? They have no power over creatures taller than skyscrapers. Ancient beasts on par with living gods. The human race did what it could. It wasn’t enough. But – to be fair – what could they do?
Humanity always likes to think of itself as the top tier – nothing bigger, nothing brighter, nothing stronger. And within the span of a few weeks that was proven horribly untrue. Frankly, Shane always knew it would be – humility is something every living being should possess and a lot of humanity lost that long ago – but frankly, he’d been banking on aliens.
Not big ol’ monsters.
Regardless, they are where they are. In a world where massive creatures walk the earth and humans have been knocked down several pegs. Pegs that have to scurry out shelter and he and Ryan found it. They reach it now – an underground bunker dug deep into the earth by god knows who.
The first time they’d found the little hide-ho they’d intended to merely use it for one night, sure that the original owners would appear. But they didn’t. Night after night passed and no one came to claim the bunker – so Shane decided they should claim it for themselves. Hell, they took a bridge from a Goatman and made it their own – why not a bunker?
Hence why it’s colorful name – ‘The Goatman’s Bunker’. He’d even made a sign to that effect once they’d managed to scrounge up some paper and workable pens. Funny the things you find littered amongst the refuse. Like his cool new rock – which he now sets alongside other treasures he’s found in their travels. A kid’s beat up plastic car, a broken snow globe, a crushed cup advertising Disneyland (long since gone – a collectible now!), and other debris he found of interest.
Ryan takes off his backpack and reaches inside, digging out various goodies they scavenged today. Dented bottles of water (always a god send), band-aids, several tin cans of vegetables and meats, scraped bottles with unreadable labels and anything else he could shove in.
They’re both pretty sure they’d come across the ruins of some pharmacy today – maybe a CVS or Walgreens or something – but neither could be certain. But there had certainly been a nicer haul than usual. Some days they walked out into the wasteland and found nothing for miles but old car parts and the occasionally, questionable collection of garbage.
Sometimes…sometimes they found worse things…
Both of them tried their best not to think of those things. Awful, sad things. Dead things. Crushed things. They had a radio in the bunker and there was the occasional chatter, but mostly? Mostly the world was silent. Funny how quickly a world, its people, its governments – could fall apart in the face of something it couldn’t understand.
There was word of massive suicide sites. Places where religious fanatics scrambled, unable to comprehend a world in which something their God couldn’t have possibly made appeared. There was word of places where ground born militias formed. People bloodthirsty for revenge, willing to do whatever they have to, to fight back, to rage against the sky – against forces beyond their control. There has been a lot of different word…but nothing that really concerns the two of them.
At least not for now.
For now?
For now the Ghoul Boys have their Goatman’s Bunker and a questionable collection of cans that will provide tonight’s sustenance.
What Shane wouldn’t give for a can opener. He’s gotten pretty good at stabbing cans open with the knife he has, but sometimes tiny metal shavings still end up in their meals. Tonight is no exception. He stabs away at a few cans, digs out what he can on to broken plates they’d found. Broken, a little chipped – but surprisingly in pretty good condition.
The food, however, is mush. Shane scoops up a bit with his fingers and licks at it, wincing as the taste, “Think this is chickpeas…or maybe hominy…”
“Those two things are very different.”
“Oh, sorry Paul Prudhomme – what’s your expansive palate telling you?”
Ryan’s nose wrinkles even as he takes his own bite, “Um…peaches?”
“Pe-?” Shane can’t even finish, laughing, because this sure as shit isn’t peaches. As is his way, Ryan looks charmingly flummoxed, “I taste something sweet, you dipshit!”
“Well, you did just stick your fingers in your mouth, didn’t you?” Shane teases and he knows it’s on the edge of a flirt and dammit, bad idea, Shane, bad idea…
Again – as is his way – Ryan ignores it. Shane releases the breath he isn’t even aware he’s holding. Good. Ryan shouldn’t respond. Good. And yet…
Shane takes another bite of his ‘dinner’ and it’s as questionable as the last. Maybe even more so, given their last interaction. This is not the time. This is SO not the time. The world’s ended. Or, well, the world as they knew it. Now is not the time to put the moves on Ryan. It wasn’t before. It isn’t now. When will it ever-?
Never, his thoughts whisper, and Shane feels his face fall, feels an uncharacteristic moroseness take him. He polishes off what last few bites he can manage, even though he’s not hungry, and then he rubs his hands clean on the material of his dirty jeans. Not the most hygienic, true – but they can’t waste water.
He can always find some stream tomorrow – do a better job then. Say what you will about the Titans, but their returns had brought some worth while things. California was flusher with fresh streams than ever before. Glowing green plant life – plant life that, before – would have scorched – now flourishes here. It’s as if the arrival of these creatures changed the very exosphere.
He wonders how global warming looks now. Have they caused a monumental shift in it? Probably. If anything has the power to, they probably do. Fuck, they can probably grow back icebergs or something. Create new fossil fuels. God – or heh, Godzilla – knows what. Once feeling his hands are sufficiently clean, he sighs and looks over at Ryan who has started in on again on his torn, dog-eared novel.
“Thinking I’m going to hit the hay.”
Ryan blinks, “Already?”
He just shrugs, “Long day.”
“Yeah,” Ryan admits softly and Shane goes over to his sleeping bag. It’s funny, but in as much as things changed, some have stayed the same. Sleeping together in a dirty, gross shit holes? Just like old times. Except no one’s filming with plans to upload it to the internet later.
The internet. Man. Talk about something to miss. The whole world at your fingertips. Although, in a way, they now have that albeit in a much more literal sense. Shane snuggles deep into his bag and falls to sleep far quicker than he thought he would.
Ryan, for his part, continues to idly pick through his uncovered novel. It’s a pretty decent tale. Romance. Big shocker. The world is over and all he can find in the remains are old bodice rippers. But a book is a book – entertainment is pretty goddamn scarce these days. He’ll take what he can get. True, he wants to click on the radio – see if there’s any good word, any good news – but he doesn’t want to disturb Shane.
…even if the bastard won’t admit he’s wrong. And yeah, the Titans aren’t ghosts. But they are real. So, if they’re real – it’s not much of a stretch to think the same thing of ghosts.
…probably a lot more ghosts now…what with all the…
Ryan can’t even coherently string it all together. All the lives lost. Too many to even begin to contemplate. A planetwide event, a tragedy beyond bearing. And here the two of them are. Holed up in their little bunker, trying to live the best lives they can. Ryan’s a few more pages in when he hears that familiar hum.
His mouth twitches, unable to resist the smile forming.
Ha-hum. Ha-hum. Ha-Hum.
The sound Shane makes while he sleeps. The soft hum of his breathing. Ryan can’t even count how many times he’s fallen asleep to that sound. Clung to it when they were shooting in creepy locations. He never slept well in supposedly haunted locations…but he always slept a little better when they shared space. When he hears those sounds.
Ha-hum. Ha-hum. Ha-Hum.
Like the bastard laughs in his sleep. Although, the sound isn’t quite like a laugh. It just…it has that same warm sound, that rewarding quality his laughter carries. Affable, irresistible, rich and…Ryan looks down at the words on the pages of the book before him, feels his cheeks heat. He’s been reading far too much of this mushy shit. It’s messing with his thoughts. He closes the book and contemplates his options.
Sleep is probably the best among them. He looks to Shane again. Long limbs all akimbo – awkward. He fits within his cocoon and yet not. Ridiculous – those stork legs, those string bean arms…
…how would those arms feel wrapped around-?
Ryan literally tosses his book aside. All your fault, he thinks at it, even as he stands up rolls his shoulders. Okay. Calm on. Relax. Don’t be stupid. Just go to sleep.
He climbs into his own bag, which isn’t far from Shane’s. He dampens their lanterns and it’s dark, cool, quiet. He’s almost asleep when he hears it. A deep, hefty rumble. Like thunder, but worse. Far worse. Worse because no storm has this feeling behind it. This pure, volatile energy.
He sits up, his breath catching. It’s far off in the distance, but it doesn’t matter. He knows what it is. It’s one of them. His heart leaps into his throat and fear throttles him so roughly that at first he can’t move – eyes watering as the sound grows in strength.
…boom…boom…Boom…BOOM!
The last makes the ground shake and he hates the goddamn squeak that leaves him as he physical jolts. Shane (sonofabitch!) is still asleep and Jesus Christ, does this fucker sleep through everything?! Ryan rolls his bag hard to one side, closer to Shane, knocking him with enough force that Shane wakes, voice groggy with sleep, “…izzat?”
“They’re coming! They’re coming!” Ryan wishes he didn’t sound so whiny and high pitched and frantic. For fuck’s sake – he’s a grown man! But the sound of those…footsteps…
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The ground beneath them shakes violently. Ryan’s experienced earthquakes before (California born and raised) but this is beyond that. This is as if the planet itself is coming apart. Shane sits up, even as Ryan shushes at him, tugs at him – as if somehow Shane’s sitting up, underground, in the dark, can signal the Titans above them.
Shane tilts his head this way and that – clearly doing his best to listen. To pinpoint. And then he slowly turns back to Ryan, “Hey, hey…shush, shush…they’re moving away…”
Ryan’s eyes hurt from being open so wide. Ryan’s chest hurts because his heart is beating so fast. Ryan’s…hurt. He hurts and hurts and suddenly he’s in Shane’s arms. Shane is cuddling him close, “Ry? Ryan, buddy, come on…come on! Calm down, calm down. Breathe…”
…he can’t…Ryan can’t…
“You can,” Shane intones firmly and Ryan realizes he’s said something to that effect aloud, “Ryan, breathe.”
Ryan drags in one loud, long shuddering breath. Then another. Then another. His mind briefly flickers over all he’s lost. All they’ve lost. All the friends, all the family, all the people…the world…
His wide eyes fill. Blink. Shed some tears, there and gone, and he’s still breathing. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. He curls forward some, relaxes, and he’s in Shane’s arms and they’re not quite as string bean as he thought. They have strength and weight and long fingers are stroking through his sweat damp, dark hair. Soothing it back from his forehead.
Ryan lets out a jittery wheeze, “Sorry…must think I’m a dumb ass.”
“No.”
“Shane…”
“Ryan, you’re not a dumb ass because you’re afraid.”
“You’re not.”
“Shows what you know.”
“Shane…”
“Ryan,” Now it’s Shane’s turn to sound bone weary, “We played up that shit for the show. You know that. Being scared of heroin needles and avocado pits and…and you know,” he says it so firmly, with such deep assurance that – even in the darkness of the bunker – Ryan knows he’s looking directly into his eyes, “You know I’m just as human as everybody else. That I get afraid. That I am afraid.”
“Yeah?” Ryan asks and he can’t see the nod, but he knows he gets it. And Shane’s right. Of course he’s right. Ryan knows he’s right. Shane’s not any more of a dumb ass than he is. They have every right to be afraid. Everyone in the world currently is. It’s all changing. It’s all becoming new. So new that to-to be afraid of other things? Silly things? Well, that would be what would make him a dumb ass, right?
And it’s this thought that leads Ryan to ask, “Can I kiss you?”
Two little balls of heat form right on the apples of his cheeks, lighting zipping up and down his spine because – holy shit – did he just say that out loud? And he can’t really see Shane in the cool darkness of the bunker. Their lanterns are out, but he can feel him. Sense him. He’s…close.
And then Shane answers.
“I don’t know…can you?”
It takes Ryan a moment to digest this response. And when he does? He fishes out his flat pillow and hopes it hits hard as he smacks right across Shane’s face, “Fuck you! You-!”
The curse is said without any real heat, but it can’t be helped, because, well – goddammit! So Ryan plans to keep on pummeling Shane until he somehow dies from pillow pummeling only for Shane to stop him. He manages to catch his pillow and stall his movements as he grunts out, “No! Hey! S-sorry, look-! I just-! I just couldn’t help myself, y’know?”
“Oh, do I?!”
“Yeah, man I mean – it was right there!” Shane damn near pleads with him, clearly feeling the opportunity was too good to pass up, “Besides, it was…it was too damned much. You asking like that…all hat in hand…”
Ryan’s struggles with the pillow cease as Shane comes…closer. He can feel him closer. The heat of him, the rush of air on his lips in the dark as Shane talks that his breathe caresses Ryan’s mouth, “But you can, Ryan.”
The last is said with such intensity that Ryan’s whole body shakes harder than when the Titans walked near them. His heart booms louder than their steps. He feels Shane hovering so close, “…I’ve wanted you to.”
A thick, noisy swallow and a very cracking, very insecure, “Yeah?”
“Mmm. Been waiting for you to.”
“R-really?”
A soft scoff, “No, actually – never thought you were interested. Never thought I’d be so lucky. But goddamn Ryan, if you are? You can kiss me and then some.”
That’s all the incentive Ryan needs. He charges forward and yes – kissing in the dark when you’re not quite sure where the other person is? Awkward. WEIRD. Ryan’s lips sort of miss Shane’s and there’s a laugh and a snort and a lot of fumbling in the pitch black dark.
But then?
Oh, then.
Then there’s lips meeting and Ryan’s thoughts splinter, his veins ignite and he’s kissing Shane. Their tongues are tangling, lips playing along one another and suddenly the world isn’t over. It’s just beginning.

Hi! I was hoping if you can do a parent!au, friends to lovers and “fuck. fuck fuck fuck fuck this shit. fuck” for Ohmtoonz. If not, that’s cool. Ps i love your writing
No this is fine! I just posted a new holiday drabble request for my Tumblr (because I am an idiot) so I should probably get the last two of these done before I start looking at those…so Hopefully, you’ll like this!
Parents AU, Friends to Lovers, “fuck. fuck fuck fuck fuck this shit. fuck.” Ohmtoonz
“Fuck.” Luke stared down at the smoking engine of the car on the side of the road, his hands slow to slide through his hair. Finally, he pulled his phone out of his pocket, dialing a number when letting out another string over curses. “Fuck fuck fuck fuck this shit. Fuck!”
“Daddy,” the childish voice he heard was not expected on the other side on the phone, and Luke froze when he realized the father of the now yelling child had not picked up the phone.”Luke’s mad about something; he’s swearing…like a lot!”
“Oh, is he?” The teasing voice coming closer to the other side of the phone made his shoulders relax, a smile edging at the side of lips despite his frustrated mood. “Put him on speaker phone, bud. Yup, just click that button…good job. Alright, what’s going on, Toonzy?”
“Hey Ohm. Is there any way you can come pick me up by the bar? I went to get my check and my car shit the bed like the piece of shit it is.”
“Not if you’re gonna swear like that in front of Squirrel. He’s got sensitive ears.” The giggle that was heard in the background of the call made Luke roll his eyes, leaning on the side of his car. His best friend, despite being the responsible teen between the two of them in high school, had somehow ended up getting his high school sweetheart pregnant their last year. Though the woman had been a great mother, she and Ohm weren’t compatible romantically (”I don’t know man, you did make a kid-” “Shut up, Toonz”) and had broken up before their child was born. Neither let it affect their parenting, and Squirrel had been raised with more love than most kids who were raised with both of their parents. Now six, the kid was a spitfire, taking more sass and sarcasm from his mother than the softer (but sneaky) Ohm.
“Your brat’s heard far worse.”
“What? When?”
“Like when his dad gets his ass kicked in Uno-”
“That was because you cheated; everyone knows you can’t end on a wild.” Ryan’s interruption had the child bursting into laughter, seeming to remember the other night well. The trio played Uno together every Friday; it had been the reason Luke had given up the night he made the most money at the bar to Brian. Sure, a big set of tips was nice, but watching Squirrel squeal in joy when getting to make Luke draw two (despite it being the wrong color) was worth more than a bigger check. Plus, Ohm cooked him dinner, the young chef’s skills making Luke wonder why his friend was still single. Ryan said that he wanted to ‘focus on Squirrel’, despite both knowing he was fully capable of juggling multiple things at once. Heck, if a boyfriend just slipped into the spaces that Ryan left him in their schedule, he could balance a boyfriend or girlfriend with no problem.
But hell would freeze over before Toonz gave up his time with either person now and talking over each other on the other side of the phone.
“Squirrel, don’t help Toonz!”
“Daddy swore when he burnt himself last night making dinner!” It wasn’t hard to think of the happy face Squirrel wore when he spoke, which warmed Luke’s heart as he gave a genuine laugh.
“Did he? You make sure he’s okay? We don’t want your dad hurt.”
“Yup! I did exactly what you showed me to!” When Ryan had been too nervous to teach his kid how to ride a bike at age four, Luke had offered to help do it. The experience had been good, up until Squirrel crashed for the first time. Cleaning and bandaging the cut had been much harder when one of his hands was being held in a vice grip from a panicking Ohm, but he’d made due. He could still remember running a soothing thumb over the back of the father’s hand while giving a thumbs up to the brave faced (but tear eyed) Squirrel, before the trio went out for ice cream to celebrate.
“That’s great, kiddo. Hey, remember that time your dad fell on the ice when we went ice skating?” Luke asked, enjoying the weird noise from Ryan that echoed in the phone’s reciever.
“Oh, yah! We had to leave because daddy swore so much.” The memory was fond to Luke, remembering the pretty pink color that crawled over Ryan’s face when he apologized to the duo for the sixtith time since leaving the ice rink. Luke had to buy the pair some hot chocolate and watch two of the Harry Potter movies back at Ohm’s house to get the man to stop apologizing, though it was only because the tired father had passed out on Cartoonz’s shoulder.
“Hey! do you want a ride or not?” The threat was useless, both knew it, but Luke couldn’t help but snicker and call his bluff.
“You ain’t gonna leave me on the side of the road. You love me.” It was a toss out comment he used with his best friend, always a tease, so he hadn’t expected Squirrel to pipe up.
“Of course he does! He tells mommy all the time, though he said he could never tell you.” The words weren’t meant to be mind-melting; in all honestly, it seemed natural for Squirrel to hear the declaration, and somewhere in the back of his mind, Luke wondered how often ‘mommy and daddy’ talked about Luke. Squirrel didn’t hesitate to continue despite the sudden silence from both adults. “I’m happy he did, cause I love you a lot too. And you love us, right?”
“Squirrel!” Ryan’s hushed hiss of his son’s name showed how panicke dhe was, and Luke could feel his starting to warm at the direct question.
“Course I do, buddy. I…I love you both.” The words felt sticky in his throat, unsure of how much truth he was exposing. But Squirrel didn’t seem to notice, eager to respond.
“Mommy said if he told you, then you could come move in with us! Wouldn’t that be cool?”
“Ye-Yeah, it would be something else.” Luke let the response roll out softly, the butterflies in his stomach robbing his voice of bravado. But the pleasant rush through his blood proved that the idea was...really nice to think about.
“Squirrel uh…you need to go get a jacket! Go grab it from your room, okay sweetie?” The father’s voice on the other line didn’t fair any better, and after the loud shout of ‘see you soon, Luke!’ from the child now running out of the room, the call fell silent. Luke tried to find something to look at around the bar to calm himself down, but even the broken down car couldn’t stop the wide smile that claim stake on Cartoonz’s face.
“Focused on Squirrel, huh?”
“God I’m so sorry.” Ohm’s voice rushed while he rambled, and Luke had to cover his mouth with his palm to keep from laughing. “I didn’t think he could hear-this isn’t how I wanted you to find out. I was never even gonna tell you, I don’t mean to make this weird, gosh Toonz I-”
“Ohm,” Luke cut in, feeling he would never get picked up if he didn’t step in. And he really needed to see Ryan.
“Yeah, Toonz?”
“Get your ass here so I can kiss you already.” He heard the squeak of surprise from his friend before he yanked the phone awy from his ear, ending the call to slip the device into his pocket. Dropping his head back onto the edge of the car’s roof, Luke glanced up at the sky above, enjoying the heavy heartbeat pounding against his ribcage. Had it always been like this? Why hadn’t he noticed? Why was he so stupid? The questions had no answers, but he gave a slow chuckle before closing his eyes and relaxing in his spot.
He was so buying Squirrel ice cream on the way back to Ohm’s.

Achievement Village
Here are two drabbles for an au I may or may not do with an explanation about the roles in it at the bottom.
Ryan’s Crush On Gavin
“Ryan, you’re going to drop the tray.”
“I am not.”
“You totally are. Are you fine?”
“Perfectly fine. I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Ryan says as he shuffles around the kitchen. He keeps his voice low so as not to gain the attention of the customers. Specifically the attention of one customer.
Ryan’s little chocolate shop is popular enough in their town that Ryan is never short of stuff to do, the smell of baking chocolate and all the flavors he cooks up drawing people in. It helps that Ryan tries his hardest to make sure the shop is a warm and welcoming place for everyone to come to.
Ryan gives a little glance at the corner of his shop, where two customers sit, talking to each other and eating some salted caramel chocolate hearts. His eyes trace over one of them, the brown hair one with a big nose, stomach twisting in hopes that he enjoys the new recipe.
“Ahh, so that’s what has you blushing and acting all nervously,” Meg, his co-owner, and another baker says, giving him a wink and nudge.
Ryan’s face goes red. “No.”
“Someone’s crush is showing,” Meg continues to tease.
“I do not have a crush,” Ryan says. “And hush, you might catch his attention.”
“Uh huh, so the fact that we started a ‘Salted Caramel’ month because he happens to mention that it’s one of his favorite flavors of chocolate is pure coincidence?”
“Yes,” Ryan sniffs.
“You’re a dork, you know?”
Ryan ducks his head, taking a chance to peek over at Gavin. “I know.”
Alfredo and Trevor Tormenting Jeremy
Jeremy is working on a customer's car, hands dirty and grease on his face, when he feels someone swat at his ass. He straightens, turning to glare at the offender. There are only two people he knows who don't respect his personal space.
Alfredo and Trevor grin back at him. “How’s our favorite twunk?”
“Busy. What do you guys want?”
Alfredo sighs, making a dramatic gesture. “Can we not come over to say hi to our little mechanic?”
Jeremy ignores that. He knows that Geoff would have both of their asses if they left Gavin all alone just to tease him. So that means they’re here on business.
He isn’t sure who they work for or what exactly they all do, and Jeremy doesn’t care. As long as they leave him out of the deeper stuff and continue to pay him good money, Jeremy will continue to turn a blind eye and strip their stolen cars for them.
“Where’s the car at?” He asks.
“You’re no fun,” Trevor says.
“I’m sorry that I don’t want to spend my afternoon with a bunch of creeps.”
Alfredo tuts as he begins to walk around Jeremy, Trevor mirroring him on the other side. Jeremy watches them warily. “That’s a lot of judgment coming from someone who works for us.”
Trevor wraps his arm around Jeremy’s shoulder, pulling Jeremy down. “I would keep that sass down if I were you. Unless you want your friends finding out about your little side business?”
Jeremy grits his teeth and takes it. The unfortunate truth is, he needs the money. So he’ll take the creepy twin-like motherfuckers and all the shit they throw at him, all the lies he tells Gavin and Michael, the guilt that hits him in the middle of the night. He’ll take it all, just to keep himself afloat.
Characters and Their Roles Below the cut
Achievement Village is a town known for being a happy and beautiful place, with quaint little houses and shops, with big green parks and sparkling lakes, where everyone knows their neighbors and all their secrets.
Well, not all their secrets.
Ryan: A chocolate shop owner who is desperate to woo the affections of the local photographer by baking him sweets and naming them after how he feels about Gavin. A big dork, his chocolate shop is the pride of the town.
Gavin: Is the adopted son of Geoff, the village mayor, and is the town's photographer. Whenever he's not taking pictures of family's or ceremonies his dad is doing, he's out taking pictures of the landscape. (And the cute chocolate baker, of course). He's best friends with Michael and Jeremy, and has a love/hate relationship with his bodyguards Alfredo and Trevor.
Michael: An electrician. Despite his angry demeanor, he's friends with almost everyone in town. Because of all the houses he works on, he hears a lot of rumors about people being seedy. He doesn't believe a single one of them, though, especially the ones about his friend Jeremy.
Jeremy: Local mechanic who runs his own shop. While he's good friends with Gavin, he hates Gavin's bodyguards. Mostly because they're creepy and make fun of how he's tiptoeing the line of the law behind his friend's backs. Jeremy works on customer's cars during the day, and stripes stolen cars at night at the request of Alfredo and Trevor.
Jack: The town's police chief. A real friendly guy who's trying to get to the bottom of who is leading the underground criminal syndicate. He suspects that the mayor is involved somehow but has no hard evidence. Just his gut. He also has a bad past (a cocaine and gambling addiction).
Geoff: The Mayor of the town. He's friendly with everyone, works to keep the town a happy place, has a dopey little smile, and knows how to use a knife to inflict maximum pain. He loves his adopted son and has killed people for him. While the head of the criminal underground, he's good at keeping the innocent people from the dark side. Most of the time. Accidents do tend to happen.
Alfredo and Trevor: Gavin's bodyguards/mercenaries for hire. They love to joke around and have fun, especially with killing people. They are a little less moral than Geoff and do what needs to be done. They also own the local shelter, where their promise is that no animal shall ever be without a home. Their side mission is to get Gavin into bed with them and they have a little side business of flipping stolen cars.
Matt: Barista for the local coffee shop who makes the best coffee in town and is being trained to take it over one day. He's also an incredible hacker playing both sides. He'll be on whichever one will pay him the most money. He's in a one-sided relationship with Jeremy, mainly just him harassing/stalking the mechanic.
