Canonically trans pirate: Alister St. Marina

So, when we first started the Sea of Thieves comics, the game was still in alpha testing. I got the incredibly cool privilege of rolling up on the Golden Shores before other people even had access, because we were basically launching simultaneously. One of the really cool things about the set up was that we got to create our own crew from scratch and tell a story on the sea when it only had a few legends in it, so we were given free reign. I knew we had a handful of issues to tell the story and I hoped we'd get to come back to them, but nothing was certain.

Some of the characters, namely DeMarco and Lesedi Singh became regular characters in the game, which was something I had never even realized was a possibility. Then, of course, DeMarco's death as a big story in the game. It was the first big mystery. And Lesedi was part of it. We even got to hear Lesedi's voice (I was quietly VERY excited they actually cast a South Asian woman in the part).

That led to a new opportunity! Years after their initial adventures, we got to make a new mini-series called "Sea Dog's Search" which centers Lesedi on her quest to find her brother's lost soul. We wanted to change things up and show that it had been years of adventuring on the Sea of Thieves, so even though we hadn't written years of comics, we wanted to show that their lives had kept on going. Since Lesedi was our focus in the series, updating her look was important to me. In the first comic, she started out looking like this:

Then, in the game, she and her brother founded The Sea Dogs and got sharp matching outfits:

Obviously, she stay's looking fly, but it's worth noting that this was a matching outfit with her brother and much more his style than hers (DeMarco loves clothes and dressing sexy, Lesedi has always been a little more no nonsense). So now that she's out from under the shadow of both her brother and legendary father, we've done some updating to her look. First, she had to get rid of the old one and do a bit of fighting of her own:

Over the years, the variety of what you can wear in SoT has improved so we wanted to give Lesedi something that felt like it had a little bit of who she is and a little bit of her home.

But there was somebody else who hadn't really been in the game whose evolution was perhaps more important to me.

When we had done the first miniseries, I talked with the crew about the possibility of having a trans character in the books. They were excited, but one thing they really wanted in the comics was to make sure that things that characters did in the book were more or less achievable in the game and, at the time, there was no way in the build to change your character's look or gender once you started.

But now, there is! There is a potion that allows you to change the look of your character including their gender. Rare and co was very supporting of us then following through with an idea we had during the first fun that was now possible. I had originally written the character of Alessia St. Marina as a person who was not comfortable in her own skin and had used costumes and espionage as a way to cope with that. She was especially fond of going undercover pretending to be male.

At the end of the mini-series, Alessia ended up getting together with her partner in crime, but she was never able to come out as trans. But it has been a few years both in our world and in the game one, so allow be to introduce you to Alister St. Marina.

He's a smooth talkin swashbuckler who just happens to be married to one of the most dangerous cutthroat women in the world, whom our crew has to rescue from her most recent scrape.

So, thank you very much to Rare, Titan, and everybody else involved for letting us tell this wonderful story and bring the first canonical trans masc pirate character into the Sea of Thieves.

about my character designs especially for my fantasy au, i wanted to make each of the main 4 shine (and at least basically make each of them equally the main character,, tho i think i failed a bit since its obvious i liked princess kenny more lol)

in context they're all pretty important figures in the story, each leading their own faction so i think it just made sense that i would make them all have their own distinct fashion styles and vibes,

and since they're the first designs i made for this au i wanted to establish a style/vibe for each faction so i can have a guide on other characters belonging to those factions,

-like kyle's design having floral patterns and intricate clothing to show the long standing culture of the elves, i wanted to make him look the most traditional so i opted to give him A LOT of detailed patterns than he did in canon

-or a very simple and practical design for stan to show that unlike the others he (and his faction) focuses more on fighting and combat than being fashionable and presentable to the public, so i gave him simple clothing that isn't really too far from his actual canon design

-for cartman i wanted to emphasize his star motifs more and push more on his individuality as a wizard, in my au kupa keep is a freshly new faction in comparison to the elven kingdom so I really went hard on making his design focus on himself rather than his faction (which is honestly pretty in character now that i realize lol)

- and lastly princess kenny, i wanted to make a design that screams "i will go to war for her" considering her famous reputation for gaining followers simply for her looks and charms, and obviously with a very anime fantasy inspired design

im really glad i could share these 😭, i put a lot of thought, time and effort for these designs so thanks so much for asking this literally !!! i could go on for days on how i designed them 💔

The art style of Cloud Castle is absolute ass bro why are their eyes so big

Well if you’re referring to the book's artstyle as a whole, then calm down buddy the illustrations as a whole are pretty good all things considered (believe me some of the illustrations in the later books are waaaaayyyyy iffier)

But if you are referring to Danilo Barozzi’s illustrations in the book then uhhhhh… yeah I don’t blame you, I didn’t like the big anime irises either, she didn’t cook with this one,,,

The interesting thing is Barozzi also did pieces for Secret of the Snow and those looked fine (she did well enough that I have to squint to determine which ones were done by her). My guess is either she did a lot of the illustrations for the latter half of SotS and we just got used to it, or it’s because the artstyle of special editions 2 and 3 were more… experimental? Books 4 onwards developed a very specific… look for the artstyle that adhered very closely to the main book illustrations of Spanish Dance Mission onwards, thus the illustrators had to follow suit, resulting in whatever looks off to look especially off.

(Even with this set of pictures, I’m only about 70% sure these are Barozzi’s because of how alike yet different the styles are from each other in the book. The first one could be Barozzi’s, but it could also be Giuseppe Facciotto’s, since he also did illustrations for SotS and his stylization means he sometimes puts the eyes really close to each other in a way that’s weird but still makes sense somehow.) On the contrary, books 2 and 3 (and I would probably even include book 1 there) had a more experimental look to the illustrations, which seems to be based more on (and this is just a theory of mine) Giuseppe Facciotto’s iconic work for the covers of Mouseford Academy books 2-12, 14, 15 and 17 in the English books (he did waaayyy more covers for the Italian Mouseford books— he was basically the cover guy for the Mouseford books for a WHILE) as well as the books from Spanish Dance Mission to Lost Letters. If you’re wondering why those covers go as hard as they do, then now you know why.

(These aren’t all of Facciotto’s works for the covers we know in English but you can see that he popped off <3)

But yeah as you can see with special editions 2 and 3, the art direction seems to be heavily inspired by Facciotto’s artstyle.

However, when Barbara Pellizzari’s works became the aesthetic poster child of the books’ brand, that was reflected in the illustrations and how their aesthetic changed, as seen in the main books and how they look currently, special editions 4-9, and the Treasure Seekers trilogy.

This new profile thing of the girls? This was done by Pellizzari (coloring was done by Flavio Ferron), and thus it became the main reference for how the girls look in the book’s illustrations.

And it’s not just in the general direction to the artists for how to draw the Thea Sisters, but also in the direction given to the colorists. Alessandro Muscillo was the colorist for the special edition books since book 1 and the Treasure Seekers trilogy, and you can see that the direction for the style varied through books 1-3, like maybe direction was experimenting with the mood the illustrations were to convey, beginning with the cartoony and bright colors of book 1, easing into the more grounded and layered palettes of books 2 and 3

Then book 4 was when they transitioned to using digital art /j

I jest, but seriously book 4 was the debut of the coloring style we end up keeping for the rest of the special editions and for all of Treasure Seekers, which is very… bright :D

(I would show more picture examples but I manually took pictures of my physical copies for the Cloud Castle and SotS illustrations and gwuh I’m too lazy to grab my entire collection just to take pictures,,)

Bright as in like… the colors are very defined and saturated. I dunno how to describe it, but when you see it, you get what I mean. It’s very bright and pretty and colorful and it stands out. There are still variations that happen on occasion (Star Fairies in particular uses a good dose of airbrush for the lighting and shadow effects, and Crystal Fairies looks like someone had a bit of fun using sparkle brushes), but other than that, it’s very bright. I don’t hate it, but I do acknowledge that yeah, if I was introduced to the series when it had fully transitioned to the new style, I never would’ve gotten into the series in the first place, because the older books had something that didn’t make it feel specifically catered to girls. The colors were bright, but not too bright. Colorful, but unified. They weren’t that complicated, and they didn’t have to be because the colorists (plural, there were at least 3 per book once upon a time) were popping the hell off with the colors they were given. But y’know, the newer books’ consistent style did give me a good spot to practice drawing mouse furries so I’m not complaining too much about the newer style, haha.

With that said tho, yeah I miss the old books -m- dunno if it’d fit the aesthetic of the special editions but m a n we could’ve had it and it probably would’ve looked cool

Also the illustrations go way harder in the older books, like Prince's Emerald? I've talked about Prince's Emerald and how it goes hard before, and I still stand by it and say that it does in fact still go hard

Maybe it won't fit the uh splash of color they gave the hardcovers, but imagine they grabbed Giulia Basile's coloring work for the graphic novels and used that as sort've a basis for the coloring style of the hardcovers. Not exactly the same-- would probably still add a touch of whimsical watercolor and/or paint to the very cel-shaded style, but we could've had something pretty dope -m-

Hi you!! I'm so glad you're back! You genuinely brighten my day! When I get over my crippling fear of being annoying, you will be bombarded with love back!

What an Ass-testic!

I've always seen Jean as a person who prides comfort over style.

When she's a kid, she's all about overalls and things with pockets. The front pocket of her overalls has any cool bug she finds and/or a cool lizard! The freakier looking the creature the more likely it's going to stuffed into the pocket, at least until someone makes her put it back.

Middle school turns to gym clothes mostly. Jean is 100% that fucko who's wearing basketball shorts in the cold, the baggy kind that come down to your knees. But this is also where she starts wearing more band shirts! Dio, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Black Sabbath...the whole nine yards!

High school, there's not much of a change. The only difference is that she starts to embrace the fact that she is in fact a woman. It's around this time where she begins the uphill struggles of accepting her body. Jean honestly thinks for a long time that she's a lumbering, giant. (I won't go into this too much because I'm working on a tiny fic that goes into her inner monolog). Long story short, through the help of the other girls, she begins to wear skirts. She starts small, putting shorts under them and if it gets to be too much she carries a pair of jeans with her. But this era of Jean is what I could only lovingly describe as "Tony Hawk Underground 2 grunge."

When she's an adult, she grows a little more and gets comfortable in her own skin. She realizes that her height shouldn't restrict what she wears and rocks the punk/80s rock style.

If we had to pick a defining clothing item, the "poof ball hat" or the "orange parka" for her, it would he her blue jean jacket. The one with her patched all over them. That jacket she keeps as long as she can, each patch she has on there is for someone special to her. (I plan on redrawing that soon!)

Her space!

Oh man, is it embarrassing to say that I've redone her room like three times in the sims? Her room is what most can relate to where it's an ADHD mess. Like, she understands where everything is because it's in its own little special place. If she cleans it or organizes it, it might as well be gone. That's not to say her room is insanely messy... just well lived.

For starters, lots of posters and pictures. The picture with her and Stan gives a good little look. Jean has those lights and printed photos along her walls, hanging from her ceiling. Posters of horror movies and different bands she's seen live! Beside them are her different instruments. Guitars of different sizes and colors, a few bases, maybe a few records.

The only guitar that isn't up on the wall is her purple one. That stays beside her bed or on her back. When she's bored or feels the need to practice, it's within arms reach. I can see her also having a few energy drinks within reach as well.

She chooses sentimental over material value. The only thing she really splurges on is her bed! She's a tall lady and treats herself to many blankets and pillows. On it is her old stuffed rabbit. You know the kinda plushy that's old as hell and has clearly been patched up too many times, so it looks kinda creepy? Yeah, that's just sitting there in her room, sometimes on her beanbag chair.

Pets~!

While Jean would have loved a dog, especially when she was younger, she's not really responsible enough for one. She neglects herself quite often, and even though I just went into detail about her room, she's not home if she can help it. Jean understands that it's not fair for any pet, so she doesn't really get one until she's an adult. Though she does live vicariously through Stan with Sparky. Or Cartman with his cat!

I can see her doing some research and getting a snake when she's an adult! Probably a Western Hognose Snake! She'd fall in love with their goofy little faces. Letting it rest on her shoulders and neck when she finally gets comfortable with being home. That little guy makes it easier to want to be home!

I do have a design for her! Maybe once I finish the mountain of projects I have, I'll post an actual picture! I don't see Jean changing too much!

This one is pretty close, though! Jean keeps up with her body, growing to really love it! The only real difference that I would add is that she kinda ditches the braids and starts putting her hair up in a bun. The only time she cut her hair was when she was a kid, and she looked a little too much like Tweek and swore never again. So she keeps her hair long, and the braids just get to be too much. That and she gets a few tattoos! But those are on her back and on her calves, and I'm still debating an arm one for her. (One of them will be a call out to Rhea Ripley because that's who I based Jean's body type off of!)

Professional Dumby

I have talked about it before, but it never hurts to say it again! I kinda said it in passing anyway!

Jean stays in South Park her entire life. That mountain town is her home, it's a part of her. It's something she loves with all her heart.

So, of course, she centers her career around the very thing that made her who she is. Music!

Jean is a high-school music teacher full time! It isn't until the very last minute of high school that she figures this out. Teaching some younger kids how to play guitar because she got roped into volunteer work, and she finds that she's pretty good at it!

The music and arts are very important to her! Especially in such a little town!

Fractured, Broken Even

Oh baby! You know AUs are my favorite thing to ramble about! So yeah, I have a design for her Superhero!AU design. I scrapped it a few times and I've got to work on it again but I based it heavily off of Pizzaz from Gem and the Holograms!

She's not a hero, just like her TSOT!AU, she's an antagonist!

If we're talking about them being kids: She puts on this 80s glam wig, paints her face these vibrant colors of orange and green. Grabs her stupid little guitar and causes problems! Why should Professor Chaos have all the fun? He shouldn't be the only one! Besides, it's unfair that South Park has two superhero teams and theirs only like one antagonist (and Cartman). She's goofy and plays up wanting an arch-nemesis so bad it makes her look stupid!

As for the AU: Jean Wellman only wants one thing in life, the consistency in every universe, and that's to be remembered and loved. What better way to do that than to carve your name into music. So she takes to the stages and gives the people all that she is.

That is until a fight between The Freedom Pals and Professor Chaos crashes into one of her shows. Electricity from the Professor goes haywire, hitting the wanna be Rockstar. Stage lights, wires, amps, the screams of the crowd. It's all she hears before things go dark.

Her hair's changed. A single bolt of blue through her raven locks. It's puffed out just like those 80s glam rockers she grew up loving so much. It won't go down anymore, but why would she want it to?

It's when she checks herself out of the hospital, her legs taking her back to the stage where it happened, that every step feels like she's walking on air. It's when she pulls her guitar out of the wreckage, seeing how it's still in great condition. It's when she slams her nails across the metal strings, and it plays the perfect note; that it all clicks and makes sense.

She cackles, it crackles.

She laughs, it echos.

She's a star baby, and everyone is gonna know it.

Name: Hologram

Class: Blaster/Support

》 Hologram uses a mix of short-range attacks mixed with long-range support moves. She is by no means an ally to anyone, however. Constantly playing both sides. She's a hero when it's convenient and fun, a bad guy when she thinks the tides are a little unfair. Her favorite thing to do is to get the crowd going! Order has no room in her life. It's all about the show!

○ First Move: Catch The Rift- Hologram pulls a cord on her trusty guitar, and in a straight line, enemies are staggered back by the sick rifts. (Causes enemies in a straight line, up to 3 spaces, to get knocked back. Causes confusion.)

○ Second Move: Amp Up- Hologram strums her guitar, and the music heals the soul, rejuvenating her allies. (Small AOE heal in a cross pattern from her location. Cures debuffs)

○ Third Move: Punk Tactics - Hologram brings down the axe crushing legs and hitting below the belt. (A front melee attack that deals massive damage, Causes stun. Can be used every other turn)

☆ Special: Backstage Pass- Hologram steps up to the stage and demands the attention of the crowd. All eyes on her, her song causes the crowd to get lost in the music! (Attacks the entire battlefield. Enemies are charmed and shocked. Allies get an attack up. Does no actual damage.)

How Well She Plays With Others

Fastpass: Is her favorite hero, one of the only heroes in her eyes. Not only is he a true hero, but he's fun! He's so much fun! His speed makes every fight a challenge. Less a game of cat and mouse, and more like two lighting storms going at it. Flashy, hard to predict, charming. What's not to love?

"Fastpass! Can I get an autograph!? Wanna sign the guitar? Come ooooon buddy! Surely you have the time?"

Captain Diabetes: Her second favorite hero. This is the other true hero to Hologram! She knows that when it comes down to it, he will always do the right thing. Which means he's perfect for the show! Hologram often puts him in a predicament where he's forced to choose. Chase her or save the victims? Knowing him, he always chooses to save civilians. Hologram then makes a scene about it.

"Look at you! You'll do anything for these people! God, you're amazing! You're my favorite superstar!"

> Will never team-up with him, despite really wanting to.

> Loves getting him riled up, even though it's incredibly bad for her

Toolshed: The fix it hero. He was the one who brought her to the hospital. The reason she can hear the music. The reason why the electricity hit her in the first place. If he hadn't dodged that attack. If he hadn't been there. Well, she wouldn't be the main event. He made her. So she owes it to him to make him a real hero! Hologram knows if she breaks it, he'll always fix it. Make it better! Like he did her!

He's a hero, sure, but he's not a real hero. Not yet. He's got some imperfections, little kinks that she's more than happy to work out! The day she knows she's won is when he acknowledges her as his arch-nemises.

"Look at me! You made me a star! You made me something! It's the least I can do for you, Toolshed! You need me to make you a hero!"

Human Kite: An alien? From the stars? How fucking rad is that!? At least Hologram thinks so. Her favorite thing to do is to knock him out of the sky. It's a game to her because, in actuality, no one flies higher than her. No one is ever allowed to make her look like a stage hand! Professor Chaos: What a funny guy. What a perfect opener, like those small bands that open for the main event! He's got plans that are beyond her understanding, but they're fun! If they leave room for her and they don't get in the way of her goals, then he's fine! If the city starts to love Mysterion a little more because of him, though, she's gonna have some words for the Professor.

Callgirl: The last and final true hero on her list. This woman can do no wrong in her eyes! This woman's presence both online and in person leave Hologram star-struck. She's the one person who's allowed to share a stage with her. If only the female hero could see that!

What are the most characterizing and representative (of their character) pieces of clothing that you include for Butters and Kenny in the various aus?

Staring with the go to generic high school/college setting; everyone knows the iconic Kenny parka, this safety orange thing he wears as a kid all up until middle school and he’s well outgrown it even if he’s still on the short side to everyone. Well, the upgrade we’ll say is a Butters thrift find. The two would often go thrift shopping (Kenny more interested in finding really stupid graphic tees or something he thinks Karen would wear, Butters meanwhile looks for things to add to his sweater collection or anything he could upcycle for sewing projects) and low and be hold, this really nice looking heavy burnt orange coat is hanging on the wall, and for 20 bucks no less. It’s still oversized on Kenny, especially if he’s only got a tank on under it, which he does more often than not, but it’s easily the warmest thing he owns. Butters though, I know looking at his design it’s looks more like he’s wearing a fleece pullover more than a sweater (tbh if I can find one that’s what I’d use to cosplay him) but I really like him in oversized sweaters, especially the cardigan I usually draw him in.

SoT/Dunmeshi AU; interesting fact, Leopold wears the heaviest armor of the group being the only one in chain mail and metal vambraces. He’s always worried about ruining the nicer tunics he wears now, all gifted by Lady McCormick, but she insists especially with how good they look on him. Milady herself of course has many fancy pieces to her closet, but her go-tos are simple long skirts that’s can but hiked up for mobility with linen, frilled blouses. Also, a massive aversion to shoes. She’ll wear shoes yeah, but if she doesn’t have to, she absolutely will not. Also the cloak she wears in her traveling is lined by bear fur, one of the few surviving leftovers from her life beforehand.

Assassins AU, I still have a lot to think on, especially cause I haven’t really drawn Kenny for it yet, and the only thing I know for certain is he has a lot of tattoos. Marjorine though, gosh I love this idea of a femme fatale Marjorine in her slip dresses. It’s interesting seeing her in all these more revealing dresses cause it’s all the sell and the part she plays as this venomous seductress. But also I like seeing her in her casual business looks, going back to her cardigans and a cute pencil skirt.

Superhero/Villian: the dichotomy of Mysterion and Prof Chaos’ costumes oh boy. It’s obvious the difference of Butters making his pieces vs Kenny finding shit in his closet, but the divide gets even bigger when they get older. Kenny still kept the cape he used as a kid, probably an old curtain he found, but it’s obviously ragged and tattered from age; in certain angles when it blows up it looks like torn wings, obviously not symbolic or anything. Also if anything one really wanted to figure out Mysterion’s identity, just realize that he and Kenny McCormick wear the exact same boots. Professor Chaos obviously got a big fashion update when Butters started finding his own style and of course learned some sewing skills. The cape got upgraded to a hooded cloak, definitely not stealing that one from Mysterion, that he made himself as well as the vest. Funny how he made the hood to also conceal his hair but then he just doesn’t wear it. Is it on purpose or not? Who knows.

sketches . little wendy was originally a warm up sketch for me to figure out how to draw her and figure out her colours, but i liked her enough to fully finish her, yay. you can kinda see my struggle to figure out what eye colour to do but. i finished drawing wendy and jusr gave up so no eye colour for her ^_^ or any sp character i may draw. probably. dont have much to say, i did kinda struggle for a bit with them tho

bg stuff. the first wendyls were originally warm up sketches, like the little wendy but i liked them. but now enough to finish them so i snuck them in the bg. phone is meant to reference call girl, she's also te picture on the phone wowwwwww. i originally wanted to fully draw call girl like how i did with wendy and wendyl, but her outfit was just too confusing for my brain at the time so. phone bg . nothing to say about the little tiny wendys and the dont fuck with wendy testaburger, i think the wendyl is funny to see like this. you can tell i just. idk how to word it, you know what i did right

Obviously I gotta make the biggest bitch of all the bitches Stanley Marsh Odysseus. I mean come on, just look at how Greek hero coded he is. I love how Eurylochus and Odysseus’ relationship slowly becomes more and more tense as the sagas go on and Eurylochus is rather blunt throughout the whole musical so I’d have to make Craig him. And for Polites, Mr “greet the world with open arms” who dies by following those words I’d have to cast him as Kenny.

I struggled so ridiculously badly with who to cast as Athena because so many characters fit but I ultimately had to chose Gregory because “goddess of wisdom, master of war” just screamed BLU for some reason. I made Damien Zeus for the sole reason of having a seemingly short temper and actually having divine-ish abilities. Pip is Aeolus, they just both give me the same vibes where it’s like playful but can very easily fuck you up and screw you over. For Hermes I chose Jimmy. Like have you seen how much of a silly guy Hermes is in Epic?! That’s so Jimmy but there’s still a shit ton of power that he obviously would have because he’s a fucking god. For Poseidon I chose Clyde and Im finding it very difficult to explain my thought process behind this one but the main thing was just to think of him from SOT. Like that’s how I pictured it idk. Kevin McCormick for Hephaestus only because I wanted one of the older kids because Jays dad is the VA for Hephaestus smh. Bebe as Aphrodite which is pretty self explanatory. Christophe as Ares bc he’s angry, French, and fights people. And finally Heidi as Hera, I love her and she’s dealt with waaaaay too much bullshit when it comes to boyfriends. (We don’t talk about Apollo bc I can’t figure it out😭)

For Calypso I chose Butters because I feel like he’s so seemingly sweet and innocent but he’s really a deranged little freak (and I love him dearly) but so is Calypso. Circe would be Kyle, I feel like she’s the more clever and strategic of the two (and your girl needs her tiny little bits of Style). And for Tiresias I chose Tolkien because HAVE YOU HEARD HOW REGAL SOUNDING THE VA IS?! LIKE IDK IT JUST FELT LIKE IT FIT-

0144: Defenders #24

Cover Date: June 1975 On-Sale Date: March 18, 1975

We're at installment three of four of the badly dressed racists saga and we've got guest stars galore! And, all the added firepower still isn't enough! These are super-prepared racists. And away we go!

We pick up our story with the Defenders and their good buddy Yellowjacket being bound in snake things. They are the Sons of the Serpent so there are likely to be at least some snake themed things. Like so many villains, the SOTS leader gives a monologue giving away their whole plan. It takes a whole page and it's monsterous.

The Defenders react and Val is shocked that they would cause such destruction merely because of skin color. She then breaks her snake-bonds. She starts kicking snake-men butt until one of their hoods comes loose and is revealed to be a woman. Uh oh! Val's not allowed to fight women. Distracted, the "honorable" snake-dudes shoot Val in the back knocking her unconscious. The SOTS intend to take her with them so she can die first.

Back at the Sanctum Sanctorum, Clea is tending to Bruce Banner who was left behind because, frankly, the SOTS didn't know what to do with him. Val's "husband" is still there and wondering what's happening. Bruce asks Clea to contact other heroes who worked with the Defenders in the past. Clea reaches out to Daimon Hellstrom, the Son of Satan first.

Mr. Hellstrom agrees and summons his creepy chariot to travel to the Sanctum. Next is Daredevil.

After a debate with himself, Daredevil heads to the Sanctum. Clea passes out momentarily from the strain. Bruce tries more traditional means to contact one more hero. This one for hire. Luke Cage is suspicious of Bruce's call but when he tells Luke this is about the SOTS, who are big news at the moment, he starts heading down the street to the Sanctum as well. All three guest starts manage to arrive at about the same time.

Daredevil uses his enhanced senses to "scan" the Son of Satan. Oddly enough he has two heartbeats. Perhaps Daimon is secretly a time lord?

Clea presents them with the entranced SOTS member still in the Sanctum. Back at the SOTS headquarters Doc, Nighthawk and Yellowjacket are still prisoners. Yellowjacket shrinks down to insect size to free himself. He isn't able to break Nighthawk's bonds so strikes out on his own to bring stronger members back to fix things. Turns out he can't escape because they are in a base at the floor of the Atlantic Ocean. No wonder they didn't leave any guards!

Back at the Sanctum Daimon is working his magic on the captive racist getting him to talk. Unfortunately, his dark charms don't work and the racist starts repeating nursery rhymes. Luke Cage decides to take a more direct approach and start tossing him around the room.

Before he can get anything out of him, Elena bursts into the room and announces that the SOTS are about to execute Val on live television. Her "husband" is understandably perturbed. He runs out of the room in an attempt to rescue her. The image on television is disturbing, to say the least.

The image of Val on the upside down cross about to be murdered causes Bruce to get angry and you don't like Bruce when he gets angry. Our heroes are suddenly sharing the room with the Hulk. Hulk and our guest heroes set out in style.

Like I said earlier, the SOTS are prepared. As they arrive, Daimon and Luke Cage are swallowed up by a hole in the air. Daredevil is overwhelmed by sheer numbers and clobbered by clubs, ironically. Lastly, the Hulk is rendered blind by a super bright beam. How are they going to get out of this one?

This is certainly an action backed one. It's a good lead-up to the finale next issue. Steve Gerber is writing a fairly intricate plot with lots of twists and turns. This could have been done as a series of mega battles, but instead gives us some intelligent plotting. The social commentary is still there, but not quite in the hit you over the head with it style of the earlier installments. Social commentary is important, even for the tykes.

Sadly, Doc is unconscious for the entire book. Clea fills in as best as she can. She's the one character that's portrayed as more of shrinking violet where in Doc's solo book she's a bit more badass and frequently accompanies her mentor/teacher/lover into battle. Otherwise, while lacking any character advancement, the remainder of the cast seems to be portrayed accurately.

Sands Of Time Finale: Withered Leaves

CW/TW: Zombie esque plant gore within the character info of the post. While there is no blood present, it is still a bit gnarly. Be careful!

As the leaves crisp into the fall, slowly fading away into the winter, a sad loneliness can be found upon the now empty treetops that they resided upon. Alas, we must wait till spring to see the blooming buds and leaves return once more upon these trees.

However, that does leave the question, dear detectives, what if we could speed up this process? What could happen if one had found a way to catch the final grains of sand within the hourglass before they were even able to drop?

Perhaps that is something that only our newest hunter, The Scavenger can enlighten us upon within the grand finale of the Sands of Time Trilogy.

This event is a continuation of both the Bloom Event and The Sands of Time event. As the situation has calmed down and both Tatya and Alden have been given time to recover, an eerie aura has taken over the manor as mysterious vines and plants have sprouted around it! The Scavenger is still determined to keep their word of a reunion. Even more so as Nerium is still hungry.

This is where you guys hop in! Depending on how you interact with The Scavenger, you guys have the opportunity to unlock 1 of 2 endings for the grand finale. One good. One Bad. So be careful and use the tools I've given you wisely!

Additional Important Info:

-The Scavenger is a temporary character. After the period of this event (about a month or two), he will be leaving the blog for an unknown amount of time. He will still most likely be referenced via other characters though.

-Delilah's Paranormal Parlor is still open alongside this event/will close with it for the sake of allowing you guys to get more clues. I'll even say that a certain "Guiding Hand" would know a bit about our new hunter friend ;3

-The style of the event's end will be similar to Pip's Night Adventure, but most likely with fewer options (but longer writing bits).

My MCC Video Rant, sorry its a bit long :)

So first off, the video itself is a bit crap. The first 2 mins are just introduction waffle, they then talk about a UI change for 2 mins. They’ve changed it from the typical mcc style to fit the mcci UI a bit more, to ‘improve viewer experience’. I personally don't like the change, for me it's a bit... busy. They then spend 3 of the remaining 5 mins mins advertising merch and mcci. Only about 1 min of the 8 min long video is about actual updates to mcc.

The actual updates, like the ones that actually matter and change the game are in the comments for some reason??

This is all information that are actual updates, none of it hinted at all in the video but just commented below. 

Skybattle’s update is truly confusing. Let me explain, currently there a a few raw pvp games (battlebox, sb, sg) and they all prioritise something different, BB is teamwork in rapid environments, SB is kills and SG is survival. With the nerfing of SB kills it turns it into a hunting and killing game to a hiding game. It also creates ridiculous scenarious where, for example with past scores adjusted, someone with 10 kills can come 3rd (dream mcc24) and someone who dies 1st each round, with zero kills, gets 64 coins (ranboo mcc17) and someone who gets 5 kills comes 2nd behind someone with 2 kills (Krtzzy and 5up, mcc 20).

It also, crucially, completely nerfs the ability for surpise comebacks and popoffs - for example, Joel Smallishbeans, not exactly known for pvp but he had a very impressive run getting 5 kills in mcc19 and gets just 260 coins with this update. Instead of potentially getting lucky, or a good opportunity you now have to just try and survive to the end. 

Battlebox’s update is a little bit of a nothingburger, they are just adding blocks to all maps which, although probably a bit more fun and makes things interesting. They are also releasing new maps throughout the season - but no major overhaul. Not that it particularly needed one either. 

One thing to note is that they mention that the blocks will be ‘brown, not team coloured, so you won’t mistake them for concrete’. However, several contestants are colourblind.  

In the game, it’d be extremely easy to mistake brown construction blocks, for both red and orange concrete. It probably wont end up effecting much at all - but when you can use the black colour, which is nearly universal it doesnt make any sense at all. I really hope it has a different texture or something because otherwise its just silly. 

Grid Runners changes is fine, probably pretty good change tbf. It does surprise me they havent announced new rooms, if there are no new rooms I’ll be dissapointed as I feel like theyre getting stale, but hopefully theyre leaving that as a surprise. 

However, I’m more pissed off at what they didnt announce. No mention of anything to do with Buildmart, which regardless of opinion, is one of the few games without big updates from S2. It’s also hated by 1/3 of the players and watchers so if they are focusing on improving player’s experiences surely this should be a focus? No mention of new GR rooms. No mention of SG scoring, which still wasn’t great from last season. No new games. No mention of new AR maps. No mention of Meltdown maps. No update to SOT. No mention of new maps for RSR. No PKT scoring update (desperately needed).

It’s just all a bit dissapointing, very few updates actaully talked about and released for the start of S3, where surely they should at least be hinted at. And instead, a nice 5 min long ad for their other products.

* Collector by cement_shoes. WHOLESOME STYLE ONESHOT!!! Them over the years, taking care of each other, Kyle handling bugs for Stan when he’s scared of them, growing up together and the trials of being human, but with someone always on your side. This one is SO sweet and gorgeously written, and a quick read too.

* A Ballad Of True Hearts by luckypoppies. Dude we all know I’m feral about SOT Style and THIS RIGHT HERE EATS!!!!! The history, the betrayal, the FANTASY VIOLENCE AND THERES THIS FIGHT SO FAR THAT SLAYS SO HARD! Being falsely accused of treason and subsequently exiled, tasked with escorting your prince to safety, GOD you just FEEL for the boys in this (plus we got them taking care of each other like yes yes gimme that fantasy whump) the world building is AWESOME I love sot AU’s and how different authors come up w the lore!

* Behind The Wall by Jwink85. Alright this one STARTS OUT nice, and is such an accurate representation of manipulative abusive relationships. Damien man holy shit. There’s so much going on in this, and the STAN PLOT OMG (yes style I love them) Kyle and Stan reconciling, Ike is my DISTRUSTING KING, high school angst, Tweek and Kyle friendship, Kenny being an icon, and I’ve said before but I love when Kyle’s written as generally wanting to see the good in people but still fiery in his own right, this is (a lot of jwinks stuff really that’s why I like their works so much) a great example of that!

* Simply Expandable by Kivea. YO WHO ORDERED THE MOB AU!!! Dude we got private investigator Craig, rival gangs, supernatural elements and mystery, conspiracy, fucking MOB BOSS KYLE?!?!? Kyle’s a bamf in this holy shit and bodyguard Stan, (this is Cryle btw and it’s fantastic) former k2, twenny, underground fighting rings, some KICKASS gang fights and the true antagonists bro the reveal was SICK! And when I say it’s a The Gangs All Here fic, I mean EVERYONE it’s wild and such a fun read it had me on the edge of my seat!

* And The Lightning Cracks The Sky by PastorCraigEnjoyer. Yeah yeah it’s cringe to rec your own shit sue me. But like Druid prince Kyle, Smokejumper Stan, forest fires, little mermaid but in the northern rockies ass plot, OVERLY PERCEPTIVE KENNY, mutual pining, magic, my beloved injury recovery (I gotta fuck Stan up ok) (I’m the worst)(giving Kyle chronic pain who me never) falling in love and saving each other’s lives, EVIL Cartman, I LOVED WRITING THIS ONE SO FUCKING MUCH it’s truly my baby.

* A quiet place (where I can scream how I love you) by sleep2thefr33zing. Coming of age style!!! So much emotional tension dude the pining is so fucking good, the first chapter is Stan’s perspective and the second one is Kyle and it’s BEAUTIFULLY PAINFUL WHEN THEYRE BOTH DOWN BAD BUT THINK THE OTHER ISNT!!! I love them being there for each other through all the bullshit of growing up, how resonant their falling outs are, it’s just so incredibly gorgeous and you really feel their emotions along with them.

* Knives by SparrowGrim. Ok so kyman isn’t my cup of tea but I’m putting it on the list bc some people do like it and this is an OBJECTIVELY FANTASTIC STORY!!! Tbh I only clicked bc I saw that it was Kyle centric (and that injury tag what can I say I eat that shit up) but I was HOOKED! Dark urbania, gangs running the streets, THE CODE NAMES SLAY SO HARD, we also got creek bunny stendy dip, the character relations are all so cool and the plot is WILD! Also Butters Kenny Stan and Craig are so badass jesus. Not even a ship I like but I loved the story.

* Peering Through Windows by Jwink85. C’mon I gotta have another jwink on the list and this one is SO. FUCKING. GOOD. K2 has been one of my favorites lately and THIS!!! We got dark cryle (my beloved) but when I say dark I mean CRAIG IS SO DEPRAVED!!! Like dude. But the story is THRILLING and artist Kenny is so kickass, Stan is a dad I literally cried over that small detail lmfao and I love jwinks Kyles and their idealistic nature (also I’m a sucker for any artist character) this story broke my heart and mended it again it’s incredible.

* Hunger Pains by Bellweather. Ain’t nobody doin Stan like bellweather MY SWEET PRECIOUS BOY UGH!!! The style is so great omg. The main four dynamic in this is wonderful, them trying to help Kyle through his ED (damn I really do read a lot of shit where Kyle’s suffering huh) all the characters are so well fleshed out and IKE I LOVE IKE IN THIS! The chapters have individual content warnings which is a great touch. Craig having prophetic dreams! Kenny dying multiple times! Chaos! Teenage camaraderie! There’s plenty of humor to make up for the dark shit but it DOES get dark. The mystery element in the beginning is really cool too I definitely have read this one multiple times.

* Find Somebody by hypercatt. STYLE!!! Stan-centric and so so so good, I love a platonic stendy team up too. some of the senior class goes “missing” and WHEN I TELL YALL I WAS so nervous that I read it out of order to make sure everything turned out okay lmao seriously this one had me WRITHING! There’s a gorgeous analogy throughout of physical hurts as a metaphor for mental illness and healing that just SPOKE TO MY SOUL!!! And there are so many beautiful moments, especially near the end, and the message of opening up and not running from your problems is beautifully written. Another one that occupies my brain lmao.

* To Have And To Hold by courtanie. Yes this is another one where Craig is SERIOUSLY DEPRAVED but hear me out!!! The plot, like I would DIE to adapt this to the screen, you feel like you’re watching a dark kidnapping race against time when reading this. And THE K2 IN THIS HOLY FUCK!!! Another one of my favorite Kennys ever and it’s so frustrating for the reader and the characters because WE ALL KNOW WHO TOOK KYLE BUT THE COPS ARENT DOING SHIT! The ending is unbelievably satisfying and the rest of the gang teaming up is so awesome STAN AND KENNY GOING FERAL OVERPROTECTIVE I live for that. But god the shit Kyle is subjected to, but he doesn’t lose that fire (Kyle ily sry)

* When The World Shakes, Hold Me by Bellweather & Blinkxs. The world building in this is PHENOMENAL!!! Post apocalyptic stuff, survival, STYLE!!! Some serious dark themes tho this is a heartbreaking read like damn check the tags frfr but the writing is MAGNETIC!

* -South Park- Style Sickfic/ Injury Fic Requests by AlwaysInSTYLE. Alright alright we all know I love my style hurt comfort and this is a request book/ oneshot series that’s JUST Stan and Kyle taking care of each other and I LOVE IT. you’d think it would get old but it DOES NOT. they’re not repetitive at all, and really fun reads! If you check it out, tell her PCE sent you we’re homies.

* Rookie Mistakes by espyonz. I love me some stenny and BRUH STANSTERION!!! Long oneshot that had me hooked. We got gentle hearted detective Stan who truly wants to protect and serve and is out of place in a corrupt police department. KENNY AS MYSTERION we know I love that shit, and he’s so awesome in this!!! The team up of Kenny Stan and Wendy to find missing people and uncover the truth behind their disappearances is AMAZING. We got Wendy as the tech girl which is SO slay (plus she and Heidi are together asjdhdks) and Kenny is hilarious in this, like he’s such a little shit and I adore this adaptation of his superhero persona. This one dropped LAST NIGHT and I’m so glad I didn’t make a red list post until now bc THIS NEEDED TO BE ON IT!!!

* Seven Candles by courtanie. Yep another one I’m tellin u, one of the best Kenny writers out there. So uhh Kyle in a Very Bad Situation again, like some of it was really tough to read. BUT!!! We got a war between heaven and hell!!! KENNY AS A FUCKING ARCHANGEL ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? (I live for courtanie’s overprotective kenny holy shit) this is legitimately my favorite Kenny interpretation IVE EVER READ HES SO FUCKING AWESOME!!! Plus we got satan being Done with Damien’s shit lmao and Kyle making friends with a hellhound which is fun. THE FINAL BATTLE WAS SO COOL TOO I LOST MY MIND!

* Why Remind Me by Kasen. One of the best style oneshots BRUH it’s so good with such a wholesome ending and the FEELINGS CONFESSIONS!!! The boys playing superhero, then later we got high school style and an accident that leads to a reminder of a kiss and UGH ITS SO CUTE!! Just- just read this one I love it sm.

Honestly I like to headcanon that the main 4 contributed a part to his SOT outfit LMAO,, here's the list:

Stan Marsh:

Stan asked his mom for old dresses that he can get AND THE TALK HE GOT ABOUT IT. Sharon Marsh thought her son was opening up about his gender identity and was talking about all kinds of stuff to Stan until he told her it's just for Kenny. His mom ended up giving him one of Shelly's old dresses that she 1. didn't like and 2. grew too old of.

Stan also borrowed (stole) one of his dad's wigs because C'MON, that man has a shit ton of wigs bruh. His dad never found out about it, but he did end up questioning later where one of his wigs went. HA

Kyle:

Kyle gave kenny the belt that he's wearing to help hold the too big dress (especially since Kenny is skinny, like c'mon bro Kenny eats waffles and pop tarts as dinner he's malnourished.) The belt was too old and small for him anyways and Kyle didn't like it.

Kyle also ended up giving the gloves, but they're jus cleaning gloves from his mom that he found way deep back in a cabinet under the sink.

Cartman (I refuse to say Eric it sounds weird):

He's the only one to spend money on that outfit (he was really serious about the game so it would make sense.) But it was only about 4 dollars. He bought the shoulder pads and fake crown in the store and bought ribbon for Kenny's wig. Cartman expected an actual hair style but since Kenny let his little sister Karen do his wig hair, it's messily just... decorated in.

OH and You CANT forget the fake boobs.. which is just tennis balls, but Kenny found those in the dump. Yea,, everything else in his outfit is from him lolol. ANYWAYS
