**Tdp season 6 spoilers**
Honestly, the thing I'm most glad about in season 6 is the fact that Callum's dad is just a human. I know a lot of people in the fandom theorized that his dad was an elf, but like I never really liked that.
The fact that Callum had magic was this big deal because humans can't do magic. But if that was all because he was half elf I feel that would ruin the accomplishment. Callum's whole schtik is "destiny is a book I write myself" and if his greatest accomplishment was something dictated by birth I think it'd ruin it.
It would also put a roadblock for the conclusion of the story. Like the whole conflict started because humans didn't have magic so they turned to dark magic. But if Callum A HUMAN could then what's to say another human can't. If that miracle or road to a better future was actually just because of his heritage than the initial conflict of Xadia hasn't been resolved.
So yeah I'm really glad Callum's dad was just some dude

I keep thinking back to how similar Soren is to both of Callum's parents. He's a soldier. He's a poet. He's a noble. He was born with a respiratory illness. He has a sister he loves dearly. He's in love with someone whose life is constantly on the line.

PLEASE yap about Callum’s dad and your theories 🙏🙏
Ok so I have some more theories about Callum's dad. If you don't want to know, ignore this post.
Ok so it's revealed in season 6 that his dad was just a normal human guy, but I DON'T THINK SO. How would he have a connection to both the sky and ocean arcanums? Remember the whole "humans can't do magic because they weren't born connected to an arcanum"? One of the more popular pre-season 6 theories was that Aaravos was Callum's dad, which I agreed with until I realized something. How could he be Callum's dad when he's been trapped in that pearl for thousands of years? Another possibility is that Viren was Callum's dad, which makes a bit of sense. Their hair colours almost match, and I noticed that he has the same colour eyes as Claudia. But not just similar, EXACTLY the same. So, my thoughts on that is that they're related. Next theory: Callum's "real" dad wasn't his real dad at all, just his mother's husband. In that case, his ACTUAL real dad must've been an elf. Alternatively, his "real" dad is actually his real dad and was another human who could do magic. Unlikely.
These are just my theories about Callum's dad, but loads of people have different ones!

RUNAAN LOVED RAYLA *SO* MUCH THAT THE GUILT OF THEIR LAST INTERACTION CORREDED AWAY AT HIS SOUL FOR THE YEARS HE WAS STUCK IN THE COIN.
HE LOVED *HIS* DAUGHTER SO MUCH THAT IT LITERALLY TORE HIM APART WITH HOW THEY ENDED.
YOURE FUCKING KIDDING ME.

My angsty brain: So… Callum’s Dad died of some kind lung condition, eh? Sure would be a shame if that was hereditary

You know the way Callum lit up at Ethari patting his back in his soft dad way when he left Callum in charge of the Moon Cubs? That boy may have saved Runaan for Rayla's sake, but a part of him knows he'd do anything to have a father again. And Ethari is already very much like Callum!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Those two weeks must've been a whirlwind of good feelings for Callum. Getting to relax with Rayla and imagine a future together was paramount I'm sure, but specifically having Ruthari there let him test run two dads at once. Runaan isn't a touchy feely kind of elf, but Ethari is. That casual back pat was all it took for Callum to experience something he probably thought he'd never feel again: paternal approval.
I'm so soft at the idea of Ethari letting Callum into the workshop and showing him around and talking about magic. You know that man would be pleased as punch to show Callum a moon beam, a moon shine, a moon ray!
Okay and he'd also lecture Callum extensively on the procurement and cutting of moon opals, and Callum would be like, yeah those are pretty powerful when you crack them open, and Ethari would look at him like Callum just kicked his moonstrider pup, and Callum might finally, finally stop breaking quite so many powerful magical objects.
Just. Ethari and Callum bonding. And then Rayla and Runaan watching them bond, and bonding over that. Yes.

Soren: Do you want to know your gay name?
Corvus: My... my gay name?
Soren: Yeah, it's your first name…
Corvus: Haha. Very funny, Soren—
Soren: *gets down on one knee* And my last name.
Corvus: Oh- oh my god.

Mild tdp season 6 spoilers
Random thought. So like Damian, Callum's dad had like a breathing sickness. And we also learn that Soren had a breathing sickness when he was born. Same sickness? Two characters with the same thing? It's probably not that deep but like ??? Dragon prince writers??? Whatcha doing?
Is there something more going on?

do i think aaravos is incredibly valid in his grief and his mission for vengeance? yes of course i do, he was a girl dad and a damn good one at that.
do i support him doing all of this on behalf of his daughter? no not really. i don't think leola would've wanted to see her beloved father destroy the world she loved so much, with the elves and the animals and the humans.

I'm once again asking for part of the fandom to stop Runaan's uwufication
Ezran has all the rights to be pissed, he killed his father. Ezran is a 12 y.o who's going way too much at such a young age in a short period of time.
Rayla loves her father and Callum loves Rayla and knows how terrible losing a parent is (he lost three), that's why he was okay with freeing him, but Ezran has a total different relationship with Rayla and different views from Callum, on top of that, he just lost his kindgom.
Runaan is a grown ass man who killed Ezran's dad and trained his empath daughter to be an assassin, trying to kill her later when she opposed him. He's not a "uwu gay bean" he's an adult with terrible life choices and Ezran arresting him is a total valid response.

In the first episode of Season Six, “Startouched”, a white-haired girl in her late teens has emerged from a body of water onto a beach lit by the sun, and seen her not-actually-dead father who she lost two years ago restored to complete life with a dark magic spell that demands blood be spilled. She’s distraught after the intense trauma of killing another member of her family. Her father made peace with passing on, but she selfishly couldn’t bear losing him and acted to keep his spirit tethered to the mortal world, hurting him in the process. She stands, then falls. Someone she loves dearly, the male former high mage of Katolis with brown hair who has repeatedly used dark magic but solemnly sworn off it, embraces her and she returns it. But then he abandons her. She is unbalanced, despairing, directionless and lost.
In the last episode of Season Six, “Stardust”, a white-haired girl in her late teens has emerged from a body of water onto a beach lit by the moon, and is about to see her not-actually-dead father who she lost two years ago restored to complete life with a primal magic spell that demands blood be spilled. She’s relieved after the intense catharsis of enabling other members of her family to die. They made peace with passing on, and she selflessly accepted losing both of them and acted to heal and free their tethered spirits. She falls, then stands. Someone she loves dearly, the male high mage of Katolis with brown hair who has repeatedly used dark magic but solemnly sworn off it, embraces her and she returns it. He will never abandon her. She is mature, hopeful, purposeful and found.

I know we loved Runaan calling Rayla his daughter, but you think we're going to get her calling him Dad?
